The Oni would hold his arm out, stopping his Gang from stepping any closer, the Yokai mumbling something to Shinobu who would merely nod. He'd draw his claymore and hold it in one hand as he moved toward the scent he'd caught. What he'd done was essentially stop his Gang from moving forward, toward someone, or perhaps, something that was injured. The scent of blood was still fresh.

He'd continue moving, gripping his weapon as he did so, after all, there was still something of a war going on in Inazuma, and he wasn't willing to get caught in the crossfire. Sure, he'd helped the Rebellion in the past, but the only high ranking official who knew of his involvement with the tactics that had saved hundreds of lives, was Lady Sangonomiya. As his eyes settled on the smaller frame of General Gorou, he'd dismiss his claymore before kneeling next to the smaller male.

"Doggy General? Hey, can ya hear me?"

The scent of the other male's blood hit him, but rather than merely acting on what he could tell, the larger male would pull a medkit from his pocket and set about cleaning the other male's wound. It wasn't too big of an injury but the scent of his blood would likely draw people toward him that he'd not want to deal with.

"Sorry if it stings but this'll stop the bleedin'."

His voice was uncharacteristically quiet, should Gorou still be coherent enough, despite his loss of blood, he'd know that the Oni was intentionally being as such. After a short while, the larger male would wrap a clean bandage around the wound before placing a large, clawed hand atop the smaller male's head before ruffling his hair.

"If ya need a place to lay low for a while my Gang and I have a camp nearby."

Remember who you are.

That was what Steve had said as he'd held the Cosmic Cube up in front of her, its blue glow pulsing and blindingly bright. He'd said it as if he believed it, as if remembering who she was would fix everything that had been so irreparably broken over the past seventy years.

Bucky didn't even know how Steve had come to be in the present day, looking hardly a day or two older than he'd looked when she'd said goodbye to him in Brooklyn in 1943. Half of her didn't even believe he was real. He'd died in 1943, died liberating Bucky and her fellow soldiers from the Red Skull's factory. Bucky had fought a war to avenge him, had walked into the darkest of places and fallen deep into darkest parts of herself, just to stop Hitler and HYDRA and all the evil Steve would have fought if he'd been alive to do it. Then she'd fallen for real, and died, and then been brought back -- losing herself in the process, letting Karpov and Zola forge her into a monster.

She'd done terrible things as the Winter Soldier. Was remembering who she was supposed to erase that somehow? That was why she'd used the Cube's power to flee. She couldn't face Steve -- if it even really was Steve -- couldn't let him see what she'd turned into.

Instead, she'd thrown herself into a new mission: Burning HYDRA to ash from the inside out. As far as Alexander Pierce knew, the Winter Soldier had been killed by SHIELD operatives while on a mission to steal the Cosmic Cube from SHIELD's custody. As long as Bucky struck silently and eliminated all witnesses, Pierce would have no idea who was destroying his bases and killing his agents.

Steve probably wouldn't approve, but there was too much anger in Bucky for her to care.

Some headcanons for the TWST AU and Subverse

(Note: Both the AU and Subverse will have different versions of Don, spoilers for Twisted Wonderland)

- While most of NRC’s students don’t interact with the staff unless it’s related to classes or other matters related to the campus (Sam being the exception due to running his Mystery Shop), it seems that most of them always end up talking to Don due to him and Grim being the only residents of Ramshackle Dorm. (Don is not a prefect in both verses, he is a security guard and Grim’s ‘handler’)

- When not watching over Grim and the first years, Don spends his free time working in the Investigation Divisions office, doing combat training, or reading up on Twisted Wonderland’s lore and history at the campus’ library.

- Crewel is the one who provides Don with a new outfit to wear after learning that his only clothes were the ones on his back (His default attire), the ceremonial robes he woke in upon arriving in Twisted Wonderland (Both Crewel and Don question why he was even given the attire since he’s too old to be a student), and the janitor’s outfit that Crowley gives him in the events of the prologue (Don will wear this sometimes on clean-up days at Ramshackle Dorm).

- His new attire in Twisted Wonderland is a black long coat (Ironically, this coat is called the ‘Rook’ coat, it is a replica of the Frye Twins’ coat from A.ssassin’s C.reed S.yndicate) with a red waistcoat. His all-black dress shirt, cargo pants, combat boots and duty belt aren’t changed in this attire.

- Don’s ‘off-duty’/sleep attire is a simple black t-shirt and sweatpants (Sam does give him a simple black hoodie with the NRC logo on the left side of the hoodie to wear in cold conditions), he wears his combat boots and duty belt when outside, just in case.

- Even though he’s a staff member, Don does have a attire for P.E or other sports activities, mostly consisting of a loose fitting sweat wicking t-shirt and black track pants, his shoes are a simple all-black pair of running shoes.

- His relationships with the students are strictly a platonic student/mentor friendship, mostly acting as a mentor/moral compass at times, but he does care for them as allies and friends.

- He doesn’t really have a favorite dorm, although he does find himself hanging out at Heartsabyul due to befriending his first allies there (Ace and Deuce), he also enjoys helping Riddle with the hedgehogs after the events of Book 1.

- Depending on his schedule and whatever tasks he has for the day, he sometimes volunteers to help out the Monstro Lounge after the events of Book 3, mostly moving heavy boxes and sometimes waiting tables.

- Due to being given the ghost camera, Don is sometimes assigned to take photos for certain events (Some of them are the ‘Groovy’ cards), he is also the unofficial interviewer for most of the birthdays of his allies.

- His budget is very limited (He blames it on Crowley giving him a limited amount, along with constantly having to purchase tuna cans for Grim), so Sam sometimes offers Don to help out at his shop when the Monstro Lounge isn’t accepting any assistance, being sure to tip and pay Don finely alongside adding in some discounts for him.

- His combat training has caught the attention of the Diasomnia dorm, as Lilia would ask if he would like to join for a sparring session with Silver and Sebek (Usually trying to spook Don with his usual jumpscares, but failing due to Don not being scared, but would draw his weapon on instinct sometimes), he also offers to spar with any of his allies if they want to, being careful to not inflict any serious injuries on them.

- Don is respectful of his fellow staff at NRC, but won’t hesitate to tear into Crowley due to his actions towards him and Grim, following up with a warning/threat that he may or may not carry out if not followed through. (Sometimes outright slapping the back of his head via Gibbs-style, he never does this to any of the students, no matter what)

- Depending on his schedule and workload, Don would sometimes visit the clubs around the campus, participating in whatever activities they have planned.

- Because of his protective nature, Don always gets injured in some way, mostly when dealing with the overblots in way that doesn’t involve killing them.

- A sad headcanon regarding Subverse! Don: Because he’s a demon from Hell, he has to remind everyone to not get too attached to him because he will find a way back to Hell at some point. He also worries that threats from both Hell and Heaven will find their way to Twisted Wonderland, thus putting all of NRC in danger if that ever happens... His main priority is returning to Charlie and the hotel (Especially when it gets close to New Years Day, in which the yearly cleanse happens.)

He's a soft, quiet boi who prefers it when others talk.

Very owl-like with his wide, inquisitive stare and quiet nature. Sometimes you can't even tell if he's there unless you call for him.

A child genius that grew up with a talent for technology. He graduated university with a PhD in computer science because he thought it was his calling, but got burnt out and eventually found his passion in being a tattoo artist instead.

You can often find Ren on walks with Violet and her plants at night, or helping his other childhood friend Leon with stretches at the beach during the day.

He's in an alt indie band with a few of his close friends and often switches between playing the bass and electric guitar!!

Ren takes his mother to a butterfly conservatory each year for her birthday because she absolutely adores them. She always tells her children that they're lucky to share such beautiful eyes with her loving husband, because they remind her of morpho butterflies.

Often sits and listens to Elanor ramble on and on about her day while he waits for you to finish work. He won't give her much input, but he'll be nodding his head and taking in every word instead.

Owns 14 different hoodies because you always seem to steal them when he's not looking. Sometimes he'll leave your favourite candy in the pockets for you to find.

He likes to pick up Hannah from university every so often, and they usually go on night drives on his motorcycle whenever the stress from exams become too much.

Dyes the ends of his hair blonde to feel closer to his father. Ren hugely admires him for founding his own company at such a young age, and was a big inspiration for him growing up.

Ren also got to marry his beloved childhood friend after you proposed to him in an all-too-familiar playground!!

HOME SWEET HOME UPDATE

Nearing the one year anniversary of the TMC Home Sweet Home au, me and rufus have put a lot of work into making the au unique, trying new things with the TMC series that border on it being a nearly completely different thing entirely. However due to recent events, the au, as it is, will no longer continue.

However. the thing about Homes is that they never truly. go away. they change shape and location, but She'll always be there for you.

From now on Home Sweet Home will be a standalone, original universe project, disconnected from TMC as a whole.

This means however, that we will be basically starting from the ground up, using the bases the TMC cast gave us and creating new characters with new names, designs, and tweaked personalities. this will mean that the entire series will have to be redone and rewritten, meaning the plans for the anniversary will no longer happen, at least not on time. I hope you all understand our decision on the matter, and continue to like and support HSH despite it no longer being connected to a pre-existing Media. Things will be very different from here on out, and its hard for us to make this decision too, but we believe this is the best path forward for Home Sweet Home's future.

okay so for starters check out this post by comradekatara for the basics/inspiration. gotta give credit for the main inspo!!

this au is where the female avatars are roommates in college and just like. hang out and have shenanigans and whatever lol. their love interests are also included as 'main' characters

so for everyone's majors and sports and stuff:

korra: kinesiology major. she plays several intramural sports (for those who don't know, it's like a club team for colleges) such as soccer, wrestling, and various martial arts

kyoshi: literature major. attends the school on a basketball scholarship

yangchen: international relations major, ends up minoring in philosophy, psychology, and political science. she plays for the school's volleyball and track teams

asami: mechanical engineering, also part of a sorority

rangi: pre-law, aiming to specialize in criminal justice. part of the school's ROTC, army branch. plays intramural soccer

kavik: pre-med, aiming to specialize in emergency medicine. attends the school on a national merit scholarship he got for his math skills

and yeah the other avatars are also here as well (don't think too hard about the timeline or you'll go crazy) but the girls are my favs so here we are

some other random things about the au:

korra was homeschooled for her entire life. so when she goes to college she has ZERO social skills or street smarts

korra's freshman roommate was opal beifong. they met online and decided to room together. they're great friends, but since they were both super sheltered they don't know how to do anything. they dyed all their clothes pink the first time they did laundry and almost burned down the dorm kitchens like three times attempting to cook

this college (it's not any specific college that i picked out it's just like some random made up school. i do feel very strongly that it's in new england tho) was not korra's first choice. originally she was scouted to swim for a big important school. but at the beginning of her senior year of high school she got into an accident that left her paralyzed for six months and in rehab for another six. the school dropped her offer and she was forced to reconsider her options

she ended up going to this random college because tenzin, a long time family friend, is a professor here

kyoshi was in the foster system most of her life, but ended up being adopted by her foster dad, kelsang, when she was 14. they aren't very wealthy so the only way kyoshi is able to attend school is because of her basketball scholarship, even though she doesn't care about basketball that much

kyoshi's freshman year roommate was randomly assigned, and she roomed with kirima. they didn't get along at first due to very differing lifestyles but eventually kirima helped her loosen up a bit and they became good friends

how everyone met: korra and rangi play on the intramural soccer team together. rangi and kyoshi were already dating when they went to college, so kyoshi met korra through her. basketball practice is right after volleyball practice. perfectionist yangchen always stays after to rep things on her own, and chronically early kyoshi is always like twenty minutes early to every practice. they keep running into each other and eventually start chatting, and become fast friends. kyoshi brings rangi and korra with her to cheer yangchen on at a volleyball game, and after the game the four go out to eat where, once again, they become fast friends

when the time comes to find housing for their sophomore year, the three girls decide to get an apartment together, and they live together for the next three years

korra meets bolin on the wrestling team, and then meets mako through him. mako and asami are already dating. korra judges asami as 'just a typical sorority girl' but quickly realizes she was wrong. there is some love triangle drama with those three but it wraps up wayyyy quicker in this au. korra and asami start dating in the spring of their freshman year

funny enough, korra actually meets kavik before anyone else. kavik is on the wrestling team for a little while, but drops it after winter break. kavik and yangchen meet totally separately, and when yangchen introduces him to her friends korra and kavik share a laugh because they've already met before

yangchen and kavik don't start dating until their sophomore year. but it takes like a whole six months for anyone to figure it out because 1) they didn't make any kind of announcement about it and 2) they don't really act that different anyway. so there's a very funny moment where kyoshi and korra come home to find them making out on the couch and are like 'hello???? when did this start??' and yangvik are like 'what do you mean when did this start we've been dating for six months 😭'

naga is korra's great pyrenees and yangchen has two siamese cats, pik and pak. kelsang has a surprisingly sweet tibetan mastiff called pengpeng that kyoshi dogsits sometimes

basically the vibe of this au is 'five of the hottest women you've ever seen - and this one guy that they drag around everywhere'

yangchen, korra, and rangi like to play sand volleyball together at the rec center. yangchen always wins but the other two don't make it easy for her

even though their partners are over so often they basically live there, the three girls have a 'residents only' night once a week where they all hang out together and gossip

the flying opera company is a band that does small gigs on campus/around town. kyoshi does backup vocals for them

yangchen is still pushing herself to insane levels At All Time in this au. girl is playing two sports, triple minoring, and is a member of like half the clubs on campus (she joins any club with volunteering opportunities). one semester korra and kyoshi start 'yangchen's redbull wall' which is exactly what it sounds like. not that they're any better lmao

the other avatars are also here in this au. kuruk is part of a frat but should be on like. suicide watch or something. bro is Going Through It. but he's actually like best friends with all the girls in the apartment. idk what roku is doing. aang is a philosophy major, he and yangchen are study buddies for philosophy classes. and uh. idk about wan either lmao

anyway that's some of the basics + random fun facts! i have lots more but writing this out has made me realize i probably need like a timeline or something haha. feel free to send more asks about this au!
