I've watched it before, but even upon rewatch, MyGO!!!!! is honestly very well crafted. The writing of each member of the band goes deep... Raana's might be somewhat of an exception, but there are hints there, and her relationship to the Owner is interesting.
The members of Ave Mujica are also similarly well written, which is why I look forward to the upcoming sequel.
(I'm currently on Episode 9 included.)
When Tomori's touching point of view has been long established, the switch to Soyo's point of view hits hard. While Anon and Tomori have had their clear wants and experiences, Soyo was, in purposeful secret, the protagonist of her own story in the meantime. Even then, the spotlight doesn't belong to her - Taki's reaction to her unfair statements brings depth to her character. Seeking out Soyo is when her complex relationship to her sister is implied for the first time and it results in deepening her feelings about Anon, who's very much the representation of their new band, beyond "she's annoying". Despite disliking Anon's attitude, Taki knows that Soyo's lies to her were not only unfair but extremely harmful.
I like a narrative of "I don't like you but I don't disrespect you." As for Soyo's narrative - "this is the first thing I've ever actually enjoyed and if I have to go back, I have to face that there's nothing to me" is compelling.
I might be interested in exploring Haruhikage from the point of view of each member of CRYCHIC and, possibly, MyGO!!!!! as well.
Passing through the clouds, I feel my heart filled with unsaid emotions When I notice, my cheeks feel wet from my tears Why is it that I don't wanna let go of your hand? Please, stay with me and never leave Stay with me and never, ever leave again
This sounds exactly like Soyo's breakdown.
I could do the same with Ningen ni Naritai Uta. I might argue that Soyo wouldn't have had the ability to introspect enough to know that this song was relatable to her as well.
I made friends like everyone else But even when I'm with everyone, it feels like I'm alone I just want to live like everyone else I want to be human
Haruhikage was an important first step to her, just like it was to Tomori, despite their obvious differences.
Something particularly interesting about Soyo is her attitude of "it'll be fine as long as we communicate". She refuses to let go of that. This loop is familiar to me as an experimented user of "it can be fixed as long as I explain myself more and better and more and better and"... She's a hypocrite, but this attitude itself wasn't a lie. She insisted on speaking to Sakiko because she actually believed that it would fix the situation, but it didn't go the way she wanted - there's no possible way to force Sakiko, as we later learn her situation to be, to listen to her. When that fails is when she actually communicates her true feelings (only because Taki, who was arguably learning to interact socially from her, was so intent on listening to her).
It's slightly frustrating to watch Anon leave, letting her feelings get the best of her without listening to what Tomori actually, clearly wants. But it makes total sense when the show is about teenage girls who feel lost, who are hurt. Just like I think Soyo may have lacked the introspection to understand Ningen ni Naritai Uta spoke to her until she lost something precious for the first time and had to face her true feelings, a teenage girl like Anon, who already feels insufficient, taking what Soyo said about her very personally... is business as usual.
And that very raw, simple yet real writing of the complex feelings of different teenage girls is what makes MyGO!!!!! so compelling. I've enjoyed PoPiPa's story for a similar reason - five girls who are brought together by something in common, despite being that way for different reasons. In PoPiPa's case, I believe it's being off-beat from society in some way. "Weird girl, airhead, shy girl, girl who's hiding and otherwise normal girl who has particular family circumstances." In MyGO!!!!!'s case, that thing in common is feeling lost, and the difference with PoPiPa's story is that it's spelled out.
I could go on because I'm also a huge fan of what Tomori loves about Anon. Even though she stumbles, she keeps going forward.
Sakiko liked Ningen ni Naritai because she really likes dolls.

BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!!
SPOILERS
I know I made a post about my love of BanG Dream! already but i left out one part of my journey because I believe it deserves its own spot.
The last piece of anime content was BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! and I can not express how much those 13 episodes moved me. Such a short runtime in the grand scheme of things but they did absolutely stellar work, introduced many new characters to the universe and told a very emotional journey.
Anon, Tomori, Taki, Soyo, Raana, I've come to love them so dern much. Thinking back on it, the season had quite a few similarities with the 1st season of BanG Dream! which intro'd Poppin Party (Kasumi, Arisa, Rimi, Tae, Saaya) and even had its own dramatic moments that were well down with a satisfying finale.
This though, man this just hit in every way I'm sure it wanted to hit.

All I was told before i watched it, well nothing but a few comments stated that they were excited for me to watch it, really wanted me to get around to it and I can see why.
If I had known too much beforehand ESPECIALLY regarding episodes 7 - 10 idk if they would've smashed my feelings the way that they did so I am glad everyone was so thoughtful in their comments.
I cried a lot watching this series and when I watched certain episodes again, it still got me hard. Few things more devastating than hearing Tomori say she "hates bands" after what just went down, ep 10 is the greatest comeback of all time. everything before building up to that moment and executed perfectly.
I want more of this group. I know the next BanG Dream! anime is focused on Ave Mujica and it airs next year, January i believe and I am very excited to watch it. I just can't wait to see these girls again. And hey, since their last episode was like 75% Ave Mujica maybe we can flip that and have an episode next year be 75% MyGO XD
For real tho i think how the group was left off in episode 13 was a perfect place to put them for whatever is to come. Gosh i love them all.
Tomori is just so precious and I badly wanted to see her succeed. Anon is such a change for a POV character as she wasn't even committed at all in the beginning (shown by how lax she was on learning the guitar), Taki and Tomori's bond was great to watch and I love how it played out that even though the former wanted to this for the latter, she wound up breaking things even more tho she didn't intend to.
And Soyo. Oh Soyo. idk how I can sum her up beyond she is endlessly fascinating and tragic and different from pretty much every other BanG Dream! character
And Raana was just there for the ride, the stray cat. She's endlessly amusing and I came to appreciate her presence pretty quick. She is also one of the many things tying back to the first season.
I could continue to go on but all this just makes me want to watch it again.
This officially my second favorite anime of all time only behind Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds and I now leave you all with one last moment between Anon and Tomori that gave me the warm fuzzies.

Hi! Not much of a tumblr user myself, but every now and then, I check in and find something to peak my interest, and HCs are one of the few things that bring me to pages like this. Recently got into Bandori! Also became aware of MyGO! From hindsight, my favorites from that band are Taki, Soyo, and Anon. I know it's been several months since the anime had finished, but I'm hard-pressed for some Taki fan-content. GN! alphabet for her, please?
hello! i love taki too, she's super pretty! i hope you enjoy!

Affection
-For Taki, she's not a big pda person nor does she like a lot of physical affection from her partner. She wants it on her own time which is rare that she'll ask or even initiate it at all. If she had to pick a form of affection that was her favorite, she'd pick holding your hand.
Beauty
-Your face. Not in a shallow way where she only cares about looks but in the way that she can't help but stare at your face forever. She thinks you look so attractive and can't help it. It does embarrass her when you ask why she's been staring at you for so long though.
Hugs
-A simple hug from the front is what Taki enjoys best. She doesn't enjoy the surprise hugs very much but won't scold you for it if you do it. A calm, warm hug from you is all she wants.
Impression
-She's a very cold and aloof person at first and likely didn't really pay attention to you at first. Making friends let alone finding a romantic partner isn't something she was all that interested in at first so her first impression wasn't anything more than seeing you as any other person.
Jealousy
-In short, Taki can get jealous easily. Not over someone like Tomori but she gets jealous over very touchy or teasing people who tend to touch you or tease you a little too much for her liking. She'll step in when it gets to be too much but dislikes it when you point out that she got jealous...

2023 summer anime season first impressions:
- Undead Girl Murder Farce
A historical-fantasy detective story with fun characters? I’m in!!! I was very intrigued with the first episode especially with the introduction of our main trio and the set up for the main storyline.
The time jump in the 2nd episode was a bit jarring though. I was looking forward to their first case together but it seems like Tsugaru and Aya are already established detectives now. Felt like a wasted opportunity but I look forward to see how the rest of the story will go!
One thing I did this show does very well is to make conversations between characters engaging. Usually long conversations or expositions are treated as a bad thing but this show doesn’t shy away from them. I appreciate the character banters and the stylistic shots to make the audience be engrossed too. Shoutout to the VAs as well!
- Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead
Whew, the first episode was really impressive! I love the buildup of Akira’s working life as a corporate employee. I think most people can relate to the feeling of being utterly exhausted and not wanting to go to work. This made the climax scene where he’s free from work much more impactful! I also love the use of colours to show the bloody mess of zombies.
I do think the humor does fall flat sometimes but I’m enjoying the show so far!
- The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today
3 eps into the show and it is already my comfort slice of life show for this season! I want a Yukichi in my life!!! I mean, who doesn’t want a giant cat that can cook, clean and take care of you?
- Link Click S2
The long-awaited S2 is here and this show continues to be impressive! I appreciate how the story picked up right off after the cliffhanger from S1 and we got to see the immediate aftermath. The fake-out death scene got me worried but I’m glad things turn out well. I also can’t believe this show can make me cry over minor characters in a single ep. The mystery is keeping me on my toes and I can’t wait to see how this season will unfold!
- My Happy Marriage
I’m enjoying it so far especially with Kudo and Miyo’s developing relationship. My heart goes out to Miyo. She was treated horribly by her family and has very low self-esteem due to her lack of supernatural abilities among other things.
It’s painful that she sees herself in terms of how “useful” she can be for Kudo. I also hated how Miyo’s father and that other dude’s father treated her as a possession to be “won”. Kudo standing her to Miyo’s family was so satisfying!
It’ll be a slow healing process but I’m glad Kudo clearly says that he wants her to stay for who she is.
I’m also intrigued with the supernatural aspect of the story. Hope we’ll get more of it as the story progresses since it feels important to Miyo’s characters. There was a odd shift in the pacing between ep2 and ep3 in terms of how Kudo interacted with Miyo. It’s nothing bad but it is noticeable for me.
- BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!!
The newest entry into the Bandori franchise and I’m enjoying it so far! From the very first scene of the anime, we’re shown that the tone of MyGO’s story will be different from what we’ve seen so far in the main story. It’s more dramatic and filled with unresolved conflicts. Our main characters are messy and have a lot of unresolved issues. Episode 3 stand out for me. It’s a really good ep that delves into Tomori’s character and fully utilizes the anime medium by telling her story through her POV! Anon and Taki have a very fun dynamic while Soyo continues to give me odd vibes. Most importantly, Raana is a cute stray cat.

(breathes in) well, since you asked
Tomori (Bug/Rock): This one was the most straightforward and what got me thinking about this post in the first place. Tomori collects rocks and is enamored by/identifies with pill bugs. She is Bug/Rock.
Anon (Fairy/Normal): There's no way this pink, femme creature wouldn't be Fairy-type. She'd be part of the overrepresented demographic when it comes to people who click Fairy type on "what's your favorite Pokemon type?" polls, too. However, she'd probably be much less insistent about being marked as Normal type! Since middle school (and, perhaps, earlier), Anon has always wanted to both fit in with and stand out amongst her peers simultaneously. She wants to be exceptional enough to be noticed, but not weird enough to be a pariah. She's not so much of a trendsetter as a trend-follower, and often seeks to fit into existing societal patterns while being the best at doing whatever she does. This juxtaposition earns her a solid spot as a Fairy/Normal type, as opposed to the more fantastical implications of a pure Fairy type.
Taki (Dark/Fighting): Dark type fits her color scheme and her piercing glare, simple enough. Fighting type has the primary domain of "martial artists," sure, and one could conflate this with Taki's eagerness to butt heads with people, though she's not exactly shown doing karate moves or anything. Rather, this assignment is more closely tied to the Fighting type's sub-domains of anger (Primeape, Poliwrath, Bewear) and heroism (Swords of Justice, Chesnaught). She's not one to hide when she's ticked off, which is somewhat related to her being fiercely defensive of those that she values (cough cough Tomori). The type combination matching the Pancham line is just a happy coincidence.
Raana (Normal/Electric): Normal is simple enough. She's literally just a cat. Pokemon that are literally just a cat (Meowth line, Skitty line, Glameow line) are overwhelmingly Normal-type. The Electric type here represents, well... her electric guitar. Of course she's hardly the only one to use plugged-in instruments amongst this cast, but Raana often utilizes her instrument as a projection of her own voice in lieu of actual words more than anyone else. For a lot of episodes, we didn't actually hear her say much, just shred. In this sense, the electric guitar could be considered an extension of herself moreso than any other member of the cast. Additionally, the instantaneous nature of electricity could symbolize her rather impulsive nature.
Soyo (Psychic/Ghost): Here, Psychic type doesn't represent doing telekinesis or anything like that, but the expression of a certain level of mental control - not just of oneself, but of others. I'm sure Soyo's reputation precedes her in this particular respect. Soyo also marks the beginning of a series of ex-members of Crychic being Ghost-type: they are haunted by their shared past, and those memories still live on after "death" to torment them and shape their actions. (Tomori and Taki notably do not have Ghost-typing, but in those cases, I opted to have different themes override that subtyping, as they feel more prominent and distinctive for their individual characters.) Also get owned by 4x weakness to Mutsumi and Sakiko's STAB lol.
Sakiko (Ice/Ghost): Ice type matches her color scheme and the "cold, but fragile" exterior that Sakiko puts up post-Crychic as Oblivionis. Putting a brave face and marching forward saves her from having to confront her glaring, persisting vulnerabilities. Ghost type for similar reasons as Soyo, though one could also argue her role as the mastermind of Ave Mujica also makes her give off quite a ghastly demeanor as well.
Mutsumi (Bug/Ghost): Bug type not only is a good match for her color scheme, but this typing also matches an interpretation of Mutsumi as a "fly on the wall" - she's often present during the aftershocks of Crychic's breakup, oftentimes serving as an observer rather than an actor during particularly heated interactions. Bug also gives her some parallels to Tomori - they're both soft-spoken, misunderstood little critters. Ghost type for similar reasons as Soyo and Sakiko, but also... ghost that haunts the narrative, or something. There's also a good case for Grass here instead of Bug (cucumber...)
Umiri (Dark/Dragon): Dark-type matches her color scheme and places her soundly as Taki's counterpart (piercing gaze et cetera). Dark type might be called Evil type in Japanese, but as is the case for many Pokemon, this association is mostly superficial and can be likened to characters that play more of a "heel" archetype (Incineroar being the most direct manifestation of this). As for Dragon type... I mean, look at her. She just looks like a Dragon-type trainer. I could also justify this with something like "her participation in many bands gives her a mythical, untouchable demeanor, like a dragon," but I really mostly went off vibes for this one.
Uika (Ground/Psychic): This one's perhaps the most tentative typing, as I still feel like I'm waiting for a lot of Intense Uika Lore (tm) in the Ave Mujica anime. I chose Ground to somewhat match her color scheme, as well as represent how she might be considered one of the most "grounded" of Ave Mujica (though this is admittedly slightly a stretch of the Ground type's themes). She was able to meet Tomori at the observatory unfettered by baggage of the disbandment of Crychic, and though she has joined Ave Mujica and donned the mask of Doloris, she still has one foot on the ground as a member of sumimi. She might fit in more easily amongst Ground-type trainers rather than Ground-type Pokemon. As a Psychic type, however, she puts the typing on its head in contrast to Soyo. Rather than concerning matters of the mind, Uika is more tied to matters of the heart, akin to Pokemon like Mesprit and Meloetta (the songstress Pokemon!).
Nyamu (Fairy/Poison): Fairy type makes her somewhat of a counterpart to Anon, being an annoying femme clout-chasing TikTok-dancing little influencer (slash lighthearted). Poison-type matches her color scheme, but the reason I give this role is moreso that it represents her role as Amoris - the concept of love as not an innocent pursuit, but an ailment that seeps into your blood and finds its way to your heart. This theming is partially inspired by Pokemon like Salazzle, but also Shakespearean works like A Midsummer Night's Dream, Romeo & Juliet, and Macbeth where love potions are conflated with poisons in need of anti-dote, struggles of the heart are maladies to be cured, and, sometimes, precursors to poisons in a more traditional sense.
