SO INTERESTING to me the way that Eddie and Shannon’s first on screen conversation is phrased.

“What did you need that I didn’t give you?”

“I needed you to have my back.”

A scant 6 episodes after he and Buck promise to do EXACTLY THAT for each other and then continue to do so no questions asked for 7 years.

Am I supposed to think that word choice is a coincidence?!

Oh my god rewatching 9-1-1 is such a special experience because you kinda just forget buck used to share his place with, like, 20 strangers, and Bobby liked chimney so much he cooked dinner for him and his girlfriend so chim could say he made it, and Athena is a fucking badass and very much respected and unashamed of being her true self right from the beginning.

Eddie doesn't know that Buck tried to claw through forty feet of mud with his bare hands to rescue him.

Buck doesn't know Eddie ran up the ladder right after getting thrown and tried to pull him up on his own.

Neither of them have seen how hard the other will fight for them. Neither saw how broken the other was at the thought of losing them.

people switching up on eddie after the whole kim sitch (or really hating on any of the main characters on 911) is crazy to me because are we watching the same show?? 911 was built on personal growth and redemption arcs since day one (bobby killing an apartment building of people, hen cheating on karen, etc.) I feel like a lot of people started watching after buck came out, and i’m incredibly happy about the influx of new fans, but some people are lacking media literacy.

Rewatching 7x04 and the way Chimney looks at Buck when he says “That Tommy is so cool…” he was knowingly playing matchmaker you cannot convince me otherwise… add this with Hen’s “It’s about time” new head cannon they clocked Buck’s crush on Tommy and Chimney was giving a teasing little push with that 😂😂

the 'then why are you in hospital jail' scene is Such an underrated buddie scene actually we absolutely do not discuss it enough. especially bc it's the first time we really see eddie be there for buck. lika 2a very much emphasises all the ways buck acts as a support for eddie - both literally in helping with chris and emotionally by lending an ear when eddie doesn't know what to do about shannon. but this is the first of many moments where eddie sits with buck and offers him a reprieve that he so desperately needs. he doesn't ridicule or reprimand him the way buck expects, he validates buck's feelings, tells him, 'i know why you did it, i have sisters too.' and reminds him that if maddie didn't have him she would've been alone when she left doug, and offers that little bit of gentle humour to make buck smile even though he's upset and like!!!!! obviously we have bigger moments. the 'to be seen to be found' scene in 3x03, the gym scene in 4x04, the balcony scene in 5x04, the graveyard scene in 6x15 just to name a few but!!!!! this was the first one!!!! this was the moment eddie diaz devised the perfect remedy to offer buck comfort and i for one think we owe it the respect it deserves!!!!

I’ve been forcing my straight husband to watch 9-1-1 and he:

-has made it a drinking game every time Maddie cries/tears up

- is a CERTIFIED Shannon Diaz hater

- turns, looks at me, and says “that’s gay” almost every time Buck and Eddie have a scene together

- tells me the plot to half the emergencies because he’s watched them on Facebook with the subway surfer gameplay

- has really attached himself to Buck and Bobby’s father-son relationship

- his favorite character is Josh??

Okay but Eddie’s just had a very uncomfortable confrontation about needing to figure out childcare for Christopher, about how he doesn’t have enough time in his day and yet he still comes over the help Buck move Maddie’s things. He doesn’t know that Buck actually invited him over to meet Carla. He just thinks Buck needs help. AND! HE’S! THERE! Despite how thin he’s already spread. Despite how guilty he feels for not being able to balance everything. He’s there because Buck asked.

Maybe they really don't know they're In Love

Eddie knows that he loves Buck but Eddie doesn't realize he's queer. Eddie had to grow up fast, got married early and never had the chance to explore or even consider his sexuality. He's always tried to force the feelings he thought he should have so he's alway been uncomfortable in his relationships. He's never gotten to start from a foundation of friendship and trust. He's never been with someone who makes him happy.

Buck knows he's queer but he doesn't realize that he's in love with Eddie. Buck never been taken care of him or put first in a relationship. He's always had to chase affection and settle for what he gets so he thinks love means putting in hard work. He doesn't know that love can feel safe and secure. He doesn't know that real love feels like home.

So, Eddie and Buck both know that they love each other but they don't understand that they are In Love with each other.

Hopefully, they're about to figure it out.

Buddie 4x04 gym scene is genuinely one of their best scenes ever like I’m sorry the quiet, gentle way Eddie observes Buck the whole time???????? Eddie’s foot on the base of the punching bag to hold it steady?????????? him validating Buck’s feelings and saying “if that’s how you feel - how they made you feel - you have every right to say so”?????????? Sorry I forgot s4 was about Eddie Diaz falling in LOVE
