Crosshair x Reader

Spoilers!!!

“What did you just say?” I asked turning to look at the young girl.

“The inhibitor chips, they’re implanted into all the clones.” She quipped.

“Is th- that why Crosshair turned on us?”

“Yes.”

“And you knew about them?” My voice was eerily calm and quiet.

“Y-yes. But I didn’t kn-“

“You knew and you didn’t think to tell anyone!?” I started out with the same calm tone that grew more and more until I was screaming at the poor girl.

She shook her head.

I had hot tears running down my face. “We could have saved him if we knew about the chip. But thought it was a good idea to keep that convenient piece of information for yourself! You’re probably just here to spy on us, aren’t you? That’s why they didn’t come looking for you. And I saw you shoot that blaster either you’ve done that before or your special. Either way they knew you could do that and it’s all probably part of their plan.” I was seething at this point.

Omega was terrified. Terrified of me. And part of me saw that and wanted to stop screaming at her, but the hurt, broken and emotional side of me couldn’t stop.

At least not until Hunter was stepping between the two of us.

“Yn calm down.” He said trying to get me to cool off some.

“No Hunter, she’s a damn spy and you know it!”

“No she’s not. You and I both know that.” He was still speaking calmly to me and put his hand gently on my shoulder. That was all it took.

I was collapsing to my knees, Hunter grabbed my arms to help slow the fall as he crouched down in front of me. He nodded to Echo and Tech who took Omega out of the room for the time being.

“He’s gone, Hunter.” I cried as he held me.

“Ssshhh. It’ll be alright.” He whispered, rubbing my back.

“How could you say that? He’s gone, how could I possibly be okay?” I asked pulling away to look at him.

“What’s my number one rule for missions?” He asked.

“Never leave a brother behind.” I answered, hiccuping a few times as I tried to stop crying.

“Exactly. We’re going to get him back. I promise. We just need some time to regroup and figure out how to do it. But we will get him back, and we will help him.” He said.

I could only nod. He nodded back to me and hugged me one last time before standing up and offering me a hand up.

I was exhausted at this point so I decided to go back to the bunks. It was maybe five minutes later when Wrecker came by.

“Hey short stuff?” He asked gently.

I pulled the curtain back and looked down at him from Crosshair’s top bunk.

“I have something for you...” he said and pulled out something from behind his back.

It was Lula. He held the tooka doll out for me to take. I slowly reached out and took it.

“It always helps me and Crosshair when we’re feeling down. Maybe she can help you too.” He said.

“Thank you Wrecker. I really appreciate it.” I said offering the best smile I could at the moment.

He nodded before walking off once again.

I closed the curtain and rolled over clutching the plush toy to my chest. I still smelt like Crosshair. It was comforting and heart wrenching at the same. I closed my eyes and tried to find sleep as the tears continued to slip down onto Lula.

The next morning I apologized to Omega. I felt horrible for what I had done and said. I knew she was t a spy, and I felt horrible for taking my emotions out on her. She forgave me and said she understood that I was just hurting. I was grateful for that, I wouldn’t be able to continue knowing she was scared of me.

We all sat down later that day and discussed our new mission: Save Crosshair.
