Quinn is so beautiful. I know he has the miserable look but he's just so pretty??? His adorable hair wings are just giving everything. I hope it won't get cut soon so really, really, really ban him from barbers or something.

Someone protect this man at all cost. I'm still at awe with his career milestone. 313 assists in 388 games. Wow. Even when he was at 310 assists tied with Edler, it was impressive because he did 538 fewer games.

Also yay for being the second star of the week. He deserves everything especially after thay 31:04 TOI in dec 1 game against red wings (just give him a gun /lh).

I also love this picture from canucks twitter. Just look at that lil smile. I fear I'm so endeared with this lil canuck.

Since Dad and I are both hitting decade milestones this year, we'd been considering for a few months to combine our birthdays and do a family trip somewhere. Since we have to take Charlotte, that nixes flying, and Mama's current hip problem means that if we picked a place that would be too long of a road trip, we'd have to pay for multiple hotel stops. So, ultimately, we decided to go back to Savannah. It's been over fifteen years since I lived there, and I miss it sometimes. Even though my birthday's at the end of June and his is almost at the end of July, we're heading down the first week of May so we can avoid the worst of the summer humidity.

Steamtrack laughed as she held her arms out for Nix to run into, catching her - the momentum causing the two of them to spin around. They had been trying for so long to perfect her holomatter form so that she was practically indistinguishable from a normal human, and they had finally did it. Finally, she was able to really and truly hide in plain sight!

With Nix in her arms, she paused for barely a moment before setting the other woman down, grabbing her face with both hands, and pressing her lips to hers in a sweet but passionate kiss. It was impossible for her to not smile into it as she felt her cheeks burn with happiness, and her 'heart' pounding in her chest.

I can now say for sure that this is the final part of the biggest Sonic story in StC so far. Five parts is nothing to sniff at and everyone one has been an epic. This climax promises to go strong, with the threat of Metallix hanging over our heroes. Sonic learned at the end of the last issue that whatever he does in the past, it might not stop Metallix after all, yet still he has to take the Time Stone and go on blind faith alone

Anyone who’s played Sonic CD will be familiar with this mechanic. Although admittedly, I could rarely get it to work and have never managed to get the good ending myself lol…

Like in the game, after travelling back in time, Sonic needs to destroy these machines to create a good future. But there’s a few differences here for the sake of the story adaptation. The first being that the machine itself is growing into the Miracle Planet. I actually can’t remember if that was the case in the game or not, but it’s a cool addition either way and works with StC’s more brutal takes on the way Robotnik’s technology works. The second is that Sonic needs to go inside the machines to break them, which he can do by being shrunk down small. These two features had no connection to each other in the game, but I like that they’ve linked them here for a smoother story transition. And third…

…the machines are powered by the Time Stones, with removing them being what breaks the machine. It’s a neat way to work the Time Stones into the plot without including the special stages, which would’ve taken more time to establish Now that I think about it, the Time Stones replacing the star posts as Sonic’s method of travelling through time in the game is also good streamlining for the sake of the story

Also nixed from the story is the second machine you need to destroy, the Metal Sonic hologram, which in the game would make the small animals appear unafraid of Sonic once more. There’s really no need or extra time for that here, as Sonic warps back to face Metallix in the present day, just like he knows the past version of himself did before

Now Sonic is back here and after watching the scenes play out in the same way, we get to see what comes next. Except that he doesn’t know what’s coming next himself, as whatever he changed in the past hasn’t affected the future. But wait a moment…

…Oh come on, it wouldn’t be a dramatic reveal if the changes to the timeline happened instantly. With everything Robotnik built on the Miracle Planet (or infected it with?) now gone, no shrink ray means that Sonic is no longer small

Which also affects Metallix! Huh. I know Metallix comes back to StC in a big way (which again, mostly happened before my time), so I’m looking forward to seeing how that pans out. A lot more than our aromantic protagonist is looking forward to spending a month trapped with Amy, I reckon

And that wraps up our epic! I feel like I’ve said most of what I could already say to sum up while I was reading through - this story had the gravity that a Sonic CD adaptation deserved. It wasn’t afraid to change things up for the sake of adapting game mechanics into the comic more smoothly, but at the same time it really did show off a lot of what you could do in Sonic CD. It genuinely felt like this was a story written by someone who played and enjoyed Sonic CD and wanted to make a story out of it, as opposed to being a game tie-in that was mandated to be written

I suppose some could argue that the first two parts being about Captain Plunder could’ve been a separate story to the Sonic CD adaptation, but I am a Captain Plunder celebrater (which is a step up from being an apologist) and think that a big member of the StC rogues gallery deserved a big introduction, too

So yes, this feels like a big milestone in StC. We have two specials to cover before getting back to our next Sonic story in the main comic, but I’m sure that the momentum they’ve built up with this story arc will keep going after this short break Also, before I forget, I thought there was something to do with Porker Lewis on the Miracle Planet that happened in this arc, but either that happens in a different story or I'm just remembering it wrong. Just thought I'd say that, since I brought it up in one of the last issues

Help write Midnight Alley!

To celebrate a few milestones, including hitting 1,000 followers, a year of posting fic on Tumblr, and several fic anniversaries, I wanted to do something fun! And since Simulated got so many requests for part 2, I thought, “give the people what they want.” But…what do you want?

So for the next couple weeks, let’s outline Midnight Alley together!

I whipped up the premise of Midnight Alley on a whim for backstory, but if we’re going to explore more of Dieter and our F!Reader’s relationship on and off camera, I could use some help figuring out exactly what this show is about. That’s where all of you come in!

Send me any and all ideas, suggestions, requests and I’ll create the backstory, and some episode lineups, to continue this story. Examples could be:

Why is it called Midnight Alley?

What kind of police procedural is it? (FBI, specialized department, hometown detectives)

Here is the canon so far:

Midnight Alley is a police procedural tv show that’s been going on for three seasons. Dieter has been a co-star for all three. He’s described as having “questionable character,” and being a “brooding morally gray detective.” The general aesthetic is more serious, but with the sort of quick-witted and sharp writing you see in long-running tv dramas. Think Criminal Minds or CSI (or for newer examples, The Sinner or Mindhunter).

Our F!Reader was brought on for a one night stand in a single episode ending with Dieter leaving the next morning, but he requested for her to become a semi-recurring love interest for his character. The writers for Midnight Alley had been trying to give him a love interest for a while, but he’d nixed all of their suggestions and guest stars until her. 

Her scene with Dieter is her first sex scene, but she’s acted on screen before. It’s not Dieter’s first time, so we can assume he’s had sex scenes in the show before. 

Dieter has offered to take her to dinner, but they have not actually seen each other outside of the show.

After March 15th, I’ll compile the suggestions and start to build the Midnight Alley canon, as well as flesh out some “episodes” for future stories. I’ll also share a special surprise in early April as a thank you to everyone who participated, so stay tuned! 

There may be requests and suggestions that jive with me more than others. If you send in something that isn’t used, or is tweaked to fit the narrative as a whole, please know that I appreciate and love all the creativity you send my way, and I’m aiming to use as much of it as possible to make this fun fandom-sourced show.

Name: Phoenix Grace Costanzo Nickname: Nix, Nixxie Born: May 25, 1991

From: Seaford, Delaware Heritage: Half American, Half Italian (Father: Stephano Costanzo / Mother: Sofia Van Laren)

Small Bio: Sofia had taken a trip to Italy, provided by her job, to help make connections and strengthen current investors’ relationships with the company. There, she met Stephano, and it was a whirlwind relationship. Lasted only five weeks, and when she left, they opted to stay in touch. Two months after returning to the States, Sofia realized she was pregnant and, at the urging of her friend, told Stephano about the baby. He was happy, which surprised her. He obtained a five-year VISA and relocated to Delaware to be a part of both their lives and help raise the baby. Several times, he had asked Sofia to marry him, but each time she said no. Marriage was not something she wanted—ever. Neither were kids, so after Phoenix was born and without telling Stephano, she had her tubes tied. Eventually, Stephano grew tired of her being distant from him, refusing to marry him, and not wanting to be a family. Shortly after Phoenix’s 4th birthday, Stephano packed up and left, returning to Italy and putting his child in his past. It didn’t stop him from caring, though, as he would call and talk to Phoenix on the phone periodically, despite Sofia not wanting it to happen.

Some behavior issues started arising after Phoenix turned 12, and just before her 13th birthday, Sofia walked out and never returned home. By that time, though- Phoenix was used to it. She would cook, clean, and take care of herself anyway since Sofia was never home and never wanted to take care of Phoenix to begin with. A few months after she turned 13, with her mother having been gone for two months, Phoenix got into enough trouble that the cops were called, and she was escorted home. That’s when they realized there was no one there, no parent to take care of her. Sofia was gone, completely missing without a trace, and no father was listed on Phoenix’s birth certificate.

Police had no choice but to put her into foster care, but her behavior only worsened with threats of violence, suicidal thoughts/attempts, and serious mood outbursts. After nine failed fosters in barely a year’s time, the courts opted to put her in a Group Home instead. Her main issue with the foster families was that she didn’t want the pity, the false love, and didn’t believe that anyone could actually care about her- since her own family hadn’t. (Her father had also not contacted her in almost two years by now). Luckily, it was here that things seemed to turn around for Phoenix, as one of the ladies in the Home—Deidre Garret—seemed to be determined to help her, to break down her walls, and to get her to trust again. With some Anger Management lessons, Individual therapy, and behavior programs, Deidre was able to get Phoenix past her anxiety, lack of trust, distancing issues, social issues, and behavior issues. By the time she was 17, Phoenix was a normal teenage girl. Her grades in school had turned around, was on track to graduate high school, and she was getting in amazing athletic shape. To celebrate each victory and each milestone, Deidre took Phoenix to wrestling shows, both Indy and WWE ones, as she knew how much Phoenix liked wrestling.

And that’s where it all begins.

Quarter-Life Scam

From what we have learned, early adulthood is a period where one establishes independence and identity in numerous aspects of life. These may include career, relationships, experience, and personal development. This life stage is definitely held of great importance as it is during this time that people make decisions with huge impacts that, in a way, define how their future will unfold. Now, we would like you to meet Kuya Nix, who’s been 29 for a year and still hasn't figured out how to adult properly (half joking).

First, when asked about his physical milestones during this developmental stage, Kuya Nix proudly said how strong and muscular he feels, as can be seen from his well-built and lean figure, but sometimes also starts feeling body aches. He also believes his endurance increased when doing extraneous activities compared to when he was younger. He added how he learned that it is during this stage that people should definitely take having a healthier lifestyle seriously by eating a balanced meal, physical activity, and getting enough sleep.

Furthermore, there have also been developments in advanced reasoning and problem-solving skills due to continued brain development and neuroplasticity. Kuya Nix shared that he challenges himself mentally every day to keep his thinking and cognition as sharp as possible. As he is not exactly tech-savvy, he only utilizes technology to stay informed about current social issues and ensures he is mindful of his screen time, which isn’t really a problem for him.

Kuya Nix is currently enjoying the freedom of his singlehood and is in a committed relationship with himself, as he hasn’t had any romantic relationships ever since. However, he enjoys the company of his friends, a vast crowd, mind you, that he has maintained since he was in middle school. Starting a family and parenting isn’t really part of his plans now or anytime soon, as he currently prefers to focus on his identity and reflect on who he is and what he truly wants in life.

Moreover, Kuya Nix currently has a balanced work and personal life since his job allows him to have a very flexible schedule, consequently reducing any additional stress. With that, although he still lives with his parents, he is financially independent and can support their family even as the youngest child of the brood. He also believes he can adapt quickly to any changes or uncertainties in the environment, allowing him to focus on his goals despite everything being overwhelming at times.

Lastly, for Kuya Nix, even the littlest and most mundane things give him a feeling of fulfillment because he is simply not very ambitious and is content with what he has. The meaningful relationships he built with his friends and peers have been a journey that enriched his life, which already provided him with a great deal of satisfaction and joy. He lives life without stressing himself while looking for his purpose or life’s meaning, but he still does his best to contribute to the community and his loved ones.

To conclude, while Kuya Nix is still figuring out adulthood, he has made sensible decisions thanks to his developed prefrontal cortex, which contributed to his entire being. He is currently living the life I want in the future, one who has such a positive, carefree outlook and still celebrates the milestones and challenges that come with it. Kuya Nix also advised the youngsters to simply live life healthily as it is too hard to get sick these days (from someone who is severely asthmatic).

Our device consists of various physical constraints that can be challenging as the device comes together. One of these is weight, the weight of the device is essential since it allows for comfortable portability, including movement when in use. The weight is desired to be within 52 grams, as previously stated, the movement while in use can’t be great in such a manner that it interferes with data point collection. Consequently, the material chosen to hold the device needs to be comfortable to wear for an extended amount of time as well as having good structure to ensure a good hold around the body. Lastly, aside from the weight, size matters just as much, once again to offer portability to the user and not become a physical obstacle when in use.

The Technical Analysis Plan is initiated with research. The first round of research is focused on identifying any gaps in knowledge, and/or finding a starting ground for the basic 4 components: the sensor, battery, software/data storage, and housing unit. As well as market research to further find a niche that needs to be filled and narrow the project scope. With this knowledge we will use the near peer devices (such as the scale, the Nix sensor, Whoop, and Garmin chest strap) to focus our research and benchmark our conceptual design. Using the gathered research the next step is identifying ways our combined knowledge base applies to each parameter specifically. That experience will be used to eliminate any non-viable options and hone in on the options that progress towards the solution of the problem.

With the research portion of our Technical Analysis Plan complete next is the pre-fabrication execution portion. In this step is where most of the mathematical and engineering analysis will occur as the previous research is validated. Key parameters that will allow us to move forward to a digital prototype are the size dimensions and total weight with all the research components, the optimal shape, orientation of the sensors, and the proper materials to prevent damage and inaccuracy caused by sweat. Only then can we start drafting prototypes, looking for new challenges and optimizing the design.The corresponding milestone of this will be the completion of CAD drawing prototypes of the physical components, completed code, and a diagram of the electrical component layout. 

Our potential project consists of 4 main parts, and so while analyzing the potential challenges we will be categorizing them accordingly. 

Sensor

For the sensor, a few of our concerns circulate around the accuracy of the sensor. One concern is the effect sweat will have on the data as the device will be worn during exercise. So finding a way in the design or through external factors to limit, if not eliminate the contact that the device has with sweat on the outside if the body is crucial.  Another challenge would be determining whether or not one sensor would be enough to obtain enough data points.

Battery

We want our design to be as lightweight as possible as it will increase the comfort for the wearer, so finding a battery that has a long life and light weight is important, also considering if we want to have a rechargeable one. Another consideration with the battery that is important is the corrosion resistance, what happens when the battery comes into contact with sweat, will damage the other components collecting data if so, how will we mitigate this. In conjunction with preventative measures, how we will prevent the battery from overheating and also damaging the components and causing discomfort to the wearer is of concern as well.

Software and Data Storage

Our biggest concern with software is securing the proper code, and also fine-tuning it with the wearer’s current body stats in order to isolate the water loss data. As for the hardware associated with the data collection, it all needs to be sweat-resistant and fit into the size constraints that we have specified.

The only challenges we foresee in the housing unit will be sealing it so no sweat gets into the components while it also holds the sensor securely in place and in contact with the skin.
