Break Of Dawn — Daemon Targaryen x OC

Summary: Rhiannon has fallen ill, and Daemon is beside himself until she gets better.

Daemon Targaryen paced the length of the dimly lit chamber, the walls echoing his footsteps in a haunting rhythm. He paused at the bedside, his eyes locked on Rhiannon, who lay feverish and pale against the bedcovers. The maester had been relentless in his attempts to draw out the illness with treatments of bloodletting, and Daemon's heart clenched every time a new leech was applied to her delicate skin.

Rhiannon's once vibrant eyes were now glassy and distant, her breaths shallow and labored. Daemon sank into the chair he kept beside her sickbed, his hand reaching out to grasp hers. Her fingers were cold and clammy, a stark contrast to the fire he knew raged within her. "Rhiannon," he whispered, his voice cracking. "You must fight this. You must."

Her only response to him was a softly anguished moan, a sound that pierced through Daemon's soul. He leaned closer, pressing his lips to her forehead, feeling the heat radiate from her fevered body. "I'm here, my love. I'm right here," he murmured, though his voice threatened to show the cracks in the facade of strength he had put on for her.

The maester hovered nearby, his face grim and serious. Emotion did not cloud his judgement as it did Daemon's. "We must continue the bloodletting, my lord. It is her best chance."

Daemon nodded, though his heart screamed in protest. He watched as the maester made another incision, the crimson flow of blood a stark reminder of his new wife's fragility. She winced, her eyes fluttering open only briefly to meet Daemon's. In that moment, he saw her fear, her pain, and it shattered him.

"I'm here," he repeated, squeezing her hand. "You're not alone."

Hours bled into each other, the night a relentless torment of worry and helplessness. Daemon never left her side, his own strength waning with each passing moment. He whispered words of love and encouragement, his tears falling unchecked. He could not bear the thought of losing her, not after he had finally found his true match in this brutal world.

At last, Rhiannon drifted into a fitful sleep, her breathing still ragged but steadier than before. Daemon watched her, his eyes burning with tears he refused to let himself shed. He brushed a stray lock of her raven hair from her face, his heart aching with every beat. "Please, Rhiannon," he whispered to the silent room. "Please come back to me."

The hours stretched on, and Daemon found himself drifting in and out of restless slumber, his hand never leaving Rhiannon's. Dawn was breaking when he felt her fingers twitch beneath his. He jolted awake, his eyes flying to her face.

Rhiannon's eyes opened with great heaviness as she began to awake from her slumber, and for the first time in days, they held a glimmer of clarity. "Daemon," she whispered. Her voice was weakened by the illness, but unmistakably hers.

He felt a rush of relief so profound it nearly brought him to his knees. "Rhiannon," he choked out, pressing her hand to his lips. "You're awake. You're here."

She managed a faint smile, her fingers curling around his. "Did you really think you’d lost me," she chided him. How often had she promised that they’d exit this world together, that no force in the universe would be able to take her from him?

"Of course not. You are a woman of your promises," Daemon replied, grateful that she was well enough to make a little levity of the situation.

As the sun rose, bathing the room in a soft golden light, Daemon held Rhiannon close, finally finding a semblance of peace. She was through the worst, and given some time, would be returned to him renewed of her vitality.

Daenerys and her non-Targaryen Westerosi Ancestors

raelothstra is a succubus who was raised by her mother among her two sisters. though she appears to be in her early to mid thirties, she is actually one hundred eighty seven years old. her pronouns are she/her, and she is a proud member of the scourge guild alongside her sisters.

Raelothstra's story begins with that of her mother, Iraevinithra'Llar of House Noquluth. House Noquluth had always been considered the unofficial leadership of Thillethyr, an underground city found in the high mountains on the small continent of Mizodrax. Being the third born, it was not expected for Iraevinithra to become the Matron of her house. Instead, other avenues were opened to her. Of these avenues, one such led to a demon from an alternate plane, and a pregnancy.

Deemed a great boon, Iraevinithra became much more coddled to her eldest sister's side, and was showered with gifts from other houses that vied for the power that would come with the impending child's arrival. And vied they did, when Raelothstra was born into the world. The stories that her mother told her was that the death toll rang high when Iraevinithra was contacted once more by the very demon that fathered her daughter.

Leaving Thillethyr was hard, but necessary for the drow noblewoman, especially so upon learning that her child had a sibling. It is a choice that Raelothstra was always happy for, as she could not imagine a different life than the one she lived in Destarin. Growing up alongside her sisters, Raelothstra became fiercely protective of them, and of the mothers that raised them. And as she grew, so did her interest in poisons, especially that of spiders, whose form she took. The two that served her greatest inspiration were the black widow, and the Brazilian wandering spider.

As Raelothstra's succubi powers emerged, she took to fashioning herself more after the former than the latter. She also took enjoyment in playing mind games, an activity that, many years down the line, led to her first husband and her first kill. It also led to her next four husbands, none of whom she actually even liked. In a town like Destarin, murder was common, so it was easy to assume how their deaths came about. After the fifth husband, she grew bored, and elected to just cut the middle man. When the death of her sister's most beloved came about, Raelothstra was quick to begin dusting off those old skills. No one crossed the Scourge Guild, and nothing would stop her rage at the ones that caused her dearest sister such pain and grief.

WHAT ARE YOU...?

species: scorpion succubi (witch heritage). weaknesses: mortality, weak against holy magic, must feed on sexual intimacy to survive, poor eyesight in spider form. strengths: can detect magic, telekinetic, seductive venom/venom that resembles that of the brazilian wandering spider, can shapeshift into a spider, can dispel lesser magics. physical description: she has pointed ears from her drow heritage, long gray horns that protude from her head, and her body has a light sheen comparable to spider skin that she molts once a year. additional info: raelothstra is probably the more stand-offish of the sisters, very slow to trust, with a great enjoyment in playing mind games. but she happily and readily kills for those she cares about..

"Darling," The Master purrs in that condescending yet affectionate way of his that Melantha hates. He wants something from her, and wants her to be agreeable to whatever it is. Fine then. She’ll hear him out.

"My love," she responds as he expects. It is this term of endearment that allows him to make his request of her.

"Stay with me tonight," he implores and it catches her off guard. Something so simple, so almost innocent, never came from him, not with genuine sincerity. Not until now.

Though she had been set to refuse, Melantha reconsiders. He watches as her face subtly contorts as she weighs her decision in her mind. Finally, she accepts with a nod. She will stay. Perhaps if she does, it will nurture this side of him, the one that wanted her, needed her, in a more meaningful way.

What are some of your fave fancast that you have or seen for asoiaf?

I can only put 10 photos at once, so I’ll do ten characters. (These are just my fancasts)

Tyrion

Young Peter Dinklage. The photo on the left is from when he was in college in the late 80s, when he was around 20, and the photo on the right is from 2003, when he was 34. Tyrion is 25-27, so I imagine him as somewhere between these two photos.

Jon Snow

Young Willy Cartier (top row) mixed with Matthew Clavane (bottom row). They’re both Jon to me, I don’t know how or why.

Dany

Gemma Ward in 2003 is the closest I’ve gotten to finding a Dany. Just, like, these three photos of her. Dany is a really hard one to find a fancast for.

Arya

Arya is the absolute hardest for me to find a fancast for. The left two images are a FaceApp gender-swapped Willy Cartier, but it looks really uncanny valley. The girl on the right is too old and isn’t quite how I picture her, but I get major Arya energy from her.

Bran

A mix of these two models. I do picture Bran with curly hair.

Daria Milky (I used the FaceApp teen filter on these photos to make her look a little closer to Sansa’s age)

Cersei

Katie McGrath. She has the perfect stare.

Theon

I have a dozen fancasts for Theon. Basically anyone with black hair that gives off the right vibe can be Theon. But there’s this photoshoot of Miles Frank that just gives off so much sad-boy Theon energy. Not every picture of Miles Frank looks like Theon to me though.

Arianne

Chiara Scelsi. I see a lot of straight-haired Arianne fancasts, but her hair is curly! This is one of the closest fancasts I’ve ever found to how I picture any character. She’s Arianne for me.

SISTERLY DYSFUNCTION WE LOVEEEEE even tho the character of Robert is kinda tricky bc his character is rooted in his manhood but fuck it we ball maybe we can just make Westeros a matriarchy #Feminism

Fem Roberta (definitely named Roberta) (also the middle Katie McGrath pic is the fc) is the kinda the biggest lesbian bait ever. Non-dutiful eldest daughter set to inherit storms end but she does NAWT give a shit she wants to go play around in the Vale with fem Ned and drink and whore etc etc. Rides and fights like a man and even wears men’s armor but still dresses and (sometimes) acts like a noble lady when the situation calls for it. She’s not a tomboy who chafes at nobility she’s a rowdy noble girl who LOVES her status she loves excess. Charismatic girl who managed to get men to follow her into war to get back Fem Ned’s little brother even though she loves him like a prize. And she loves the idea of being connected to Ned more than that. But other than her homoerotic obsession with her best friend and she is totally and completely heterosexual 👍🏻

Fem Stannis (Stana? Castana?) is kinda so Eva Green do we see the vision people. She’s a flop daughter who dresses like a utilitarian, very little room in her looks for comfort. Internalized misogyny for days bc she thinks if she were a son she could be so much better than her sister is. She’s kinda like if Cersei slayed a little less. When Roberta dies she can’t garner any support bc even though they were both women, her elder sister was always more persuasive and well liked, which is half the reason she became queen. So now she’s behind her bastard nephew and nieces who aren’t even related to her in the line of succession (let’s pretend masc Cersei and fem Jamie swapped the kids or smthn idk 😭). And her new red witch is not doing favors for the people who think magic = dark and womanly and evil. She’s such a flop and gay for the older pirate lady who saved her life and she can never do anything right ily girl

And Fem Renly/Rena/Renia is kinda the baddest bitch in the seven kingdoms. She’s even prettier than Roberta was at her age, and just as charismatic, and far more agreeable, acting more like a “proper” lady. Though she rides as well as her eldest sister, and even took up the sword too, wanting to be a warrior queen when she was little. Her fits always go crazy, a fourth of the treasury at storms end is set aside for her favorite green enameling and gold accessories. She’s kinda the star of court and thinks Roberta has gotten lazy and Stana has too much of a stick up her ass to be a good queen. Ofc in true Baratheon fashion she has a gay who worships her like a god, her trusted lady-knight Lora Tyrell, who gives her the support of her house before she unfortunately gets merked. Rip queen I wish you could’ve been mean on the internet
