One of my many highlights from Kindle this year was clashing steel with Sterling Bishop on the beach. I really couldn't have asked for more for my birthday weekend.

A huge thank you to Jason Surh and to all the other photographers out at Kindle for capturing the moments so we can hold and share them for years to come. 💛

This fox turned 339 today! 🎂🎉 Gonna be having a little celebration tonight so I may or may not have something to post, we'll see! I plan to have a very nice dinner, and partake in some fine (alcoholic) spirits ;3

Today is my birthday and of course I couldn't celebrate it without Puppet!Fives!

I had an afternoon tea with some friends and Fives found an appropriate apron to keep his armour clean. 😁

(yes those are toy plates and utensils, we're funny like that. 😅)

And because we didn't have an extra seat for him I put him on the rocking horse. 😂 I'm surprised he stayed up!

The first attempt however looks like he partied hard and decided to ride home. I mean, he's already legless! 🤣 (I'll see myself out...)

For Law's 30th birthday, the Hearts decide to get creative.

While their Captain may not be so keen on celebrating that day, he's definitely in for a ride. If he wants to or not. (Bepo's shimmering, beady polar bear eyes are always a critical hit, so he can't nope out of that, ever.)

-They cook up a feast, including some traditional North Blue dishes and some comfort food they had at Wolf's back in the day (yes, half of it is a variety of Onigiri)

-It was a collective decision to design Law a unique, original coin for his collection. The casting was a bit tricky, but they managed. (Probably in memory of either his birthday, the Hearts as a whole, the Captain himself, or his lost family/Corazón/Flevance based on the little crumbs they got to know about those instances)

-To make it a little more exciting, they even came up with a small treasure hunt for it. Using some historical and medical riddles to guide him there.

-Over the years, the crew also accumulated many pictures of their time together. Bepo and Ikkaku made a whole album out of it.

-Luckily, they even managed to get quite a handful of their Captain in all sorts of states and moods. Penguin and Shachi made it their mission to create a little slide show with them. Even tossing in some embarrassing ones they sneaked from Swallow Island and adding their own commentary to it.

-They also borrowed a recorder to tape the whole thing.

The whole crew is howling. It's wholesome, hilarious, awkward, chaotic, beautiful, combining all the facets of their friend. But mostly, it's so damn affectionate Law cried himself to sleep that night.

He might have 'confiscated' that video, but he'll treasure all of their loving gifts until the end of his days. He's secretly rewatching it every other night when his thoughts get bad again.

Cake has been on the brain lately with birthday coming up soon. Don't tell the little guys, they might start plotting something. 🍰

10:30: Treasure hunt has begun. Sibling has been given the birthday card with the codes. They are valiantly struggling to decipher the first one.

10:40: They just realized this is probably the first in many clues they will need to figure out as this is indeed a treasure hunt. They are befuddled.

10:50: They tried googling for answers.

She did not owe him anything. He had not shown up on hers.

...

"Father." Her expression is carefully schooled, in the hopes that any bit of nerves or awkwardness or worry is hidden away from sight. When she reaches him, she immediately holds out the gift. "Here."

Unwrapped and undecorated, she offers him a book. "It is a recently released collection, summarizing the various forms of faith across the continents that have gathered here in Fódlan as of late." She explains. "I assume that, if you insist on badgering every person that you meet in some way, it is far more entertaining to be able to fire more accurate targets than broad and vague statements of faith."

She knows, at least, that she finds it more satisfying when she can return barbs with targeted points. Not that she cares if he is having fun while he behaves the fool. And if he hates the book or thinks it is a terrible gift, than Mitama herself will have something new to read and no reason to feel like an idiot for making an attempt.

While his judgement is waited for, Mitama's gaze shifts, choosing to look over his shoulder rather than face him directly. "...happy birthday, also. Not that...mortal things like that matter."

“Daughter.” The reply comes in a similar tone to match, though the monk faces her neutral expression with his typical blithe cheer - an easygoing smile. He sets the side of his face on a curled fist, briefly cracks open a starry eye to look at her. She’s hiding something.

But he need not wait overlong to learn the truth of it.

Brows lift. Head cants a notch further.

Eventually, curiosity his better, free hand reaches for the proffered book. Turns it front to back, back to front.

Explanation of the gift(?) is provided in short order,

“Oh!”

followed by the reasoning behind the gift(!)'s choice. “…Oh.”

He grins. “Well, well. You assume correctly, though it concerns me just a titch that you would enable me in such fashion, ohoho~”

Regardless, he’s all smiles, clearly a mix of amused and chuffed, and maybe even a little touched as he runs thumb the length of the book’s spine. He could maybe put off meditating for the afternoon to give it a little read. . .

…

“Well, thank you-”

. . . '…happy birthday, also.'

“… Ah. I had all but forgotten…”

She’s right. What’s another year of this life amount to, in the end? One can but make the best of it with what finite ever dwindling time they’ve got to their name.

… Azama doubts if he’s earned the right to a hug, so he settles for a gentle pat on her head - for once, not ruffling, not teasing. Just. Grateful.

They’ve also announced a spot on CBS sunday morning show. Blah blah word salad about children’s online abuse and un-aliving themselves.

Yeah, no one watches the Sunday morning shows here so good luck to them getting the ratings and viewership they want. 

Sunday mornings are also when our political talk shows are on and this Sunday’s shows are going to be a doozy because of the Harris VP pick (and speculation if she hasn’t announced by then) and this weekend is the first weekend of the August congressional recess...meaning everyone in Congress and the Cabinet will be out making appearances and giving interviews to prove their mettle as campaign surrogates for when the POTUS campaign kicks off August 23rd.

The only thing that’s slightly interesting to me about this interview spot is that it’s being broadcast on August 4th, which is Meghan’s birthday, and I wonder if she’ll force someone to acknowledge it.
