i love dukat as a character because he really is just a deeply disgusting person to his core and that's what makes him so fascinating tbh.

he's so convinced that the world is at his feet that he'll take anything and everything available to him and still, when there is someone who won't bow to him, he'll convince himself they're in the wrong. when there is someone possibly above him, he wants that spot too! he can also be the emissary. the others wouldn't deserve it. after all, they're just animals. beautiful animals, his to admire and love, but they are animals. they wouldn't understand what it's like to be their caretaker, giving his life away to ensure their lives! what's a little indulgence, as a trade?
