Clapton Davis x gn reader
This was requested from an anon on tumblr: "Hii! I enjoy your stories on wattpad and I was hoping if you take requests, if not that's okay! There's barely any Clapton Davis oneshots and you're really great at writing and I was wondering if you could make one!... Maybe a suggestion could be like you and Clapton are like enemies that hate each other and you go to a party and both have too much to drink. You both forget about your troubles between each other from the drinks and getting along maybe. Sorry I am not that creative lmao. Thank youu!" To whoever you are, dear anon, I truly hope my writing met your expectations <3. Already posted this on my wattpad a couple of weeks ago but did some edits now that I had time.
Prompt number three of the jhutch promptober made by @joshfutturman <3 “Skateboard”
Tags: no pronouns used towards the reader so everyone can read. No use of Y/N. fluff. Very small angst. Enemies to lovers fic. Clapton secretly pinning for you.
Words count: 2000 words
You're moving through the crowd of the school hallway with practiced ease, already mentally preparing yourself for another day of monotony. It's not that you hate school, but lately, everything has felt heavier, more tedious.
And then there's the added complication of Clapton Davis.
As you reach your locker, you spot him down the hall, leaning against his locker like he has all the time in the world.
He's talking to someone, one of his many hangers, no doubt. His attention seems half-hearted, like he's only going through the motions.
His gaze flicks over to you briefly, just a split second, before he returns to whatever casual conversation he's pretending to be interested in.
He's always been the kind of guy who breezes through life without a second thought, always with that infuriating smirk on his face like nothing really matters.
But there's something in the way he glanced at you that lingers in your mind, something almost... hesitant.
You shake it off and focus on getting your books out of your locker. You're already running late for class, and the last thing you need is to get caught up thinking about him.
But as you're closing your locker, you feel a presence beside.
A familiar one.
"Morning," Clapton says, his voice casual with his beloved skateboard resting comfortably on his shoulder.
You glance at him, and there it is again that look, that flash of something in his eyes that you can't quite name. He's got that same lazy grin on his face, but it doesn't reach his eyes. It's like he's trying too hard to appear indifferent.
"Morning," you reply, keeping your tone neutral as you close your locker.
"You ready for that history test?" he asks, leaning a little closer, his shoulder brushing against yours. It's a small gesture, but it sends a jolt of electricity through you.
"More or less," you answer, trying to ignore the way your pulse quickens at his proximity. "How about you?"
He shrugs, the movement almost too casual. "I'll wing it. I usually do."
There's a pause, a beat of silence where neither of you says anything. You're not sure what he's doing here, why he's suddenly so interested in small talk with you. It's not like the two of you are friends, not by any stretch of the imagination. But he doesn't seem to be in any hurry to leave.
"Well, good luck with that," you finally say, turning to head to your first class.
"Yeah," he murmurs, and for a moment, you think you hear something like disappointment in his voice, but when you glance back at him, his expression is as unreadable as ever and he is already skating away in the hallway.
Later that afternoon, after a particularly dull chemistry class, you're gathering your things when you notice him again. He's lingering by the door, pretending to be engrossed in his phone.
"Need something?" you ask as you approach him, your tone a little sharper than you intended.
Clapton looks up from his phone, and for a second, he almost looks... hurt. But then the mask is back, and he's grinning at you like nothing's wrong.
"Just wondering if you wanted to grab something after school," he says, shrugging like it's no big deal. But there's an edge to his voice, a note of uncertainty that he's trying to hide.
You blink, caught off guard by the question.
"I've got plans," you lie, the words slipping out before you can stop them. You don't know why you said it, but something about the idea of spending time with him outside of school makes you nervous.
"Right," he says, his smile faltering just a bit. "Maybe another time, then."
He walks away before you can say anything else, leaving you standing there, your heart pounding in your chest. You watch him go, feeling a strange mix of regret and relief.
And then there was yesterday.
You'd been sitting in the library, working on a paper for English class, when Clapton had appeared out of nowhere. He'd slid into the seat across from you, flashing that grin of his that always seemed to set you on edge.
"Mind if I join you?" he'd asked, not waiting for an answer before he started pulling out his own books.
You'd raised an eyebrow at him, suspicious. "What are you doing here, Davis?"
"Studying," he'd replied, but there'd been something playful in his tone, like he knew exactly how much he was throwing you off. "It is a library, after all."
"Since when do you study?" you'd shot back, trying to ignore the way your heart had started to race.
"Since I decided I might actually want to pass this class," he'd said, his eyes locking onto yours with a seriousness that had taken you by surprise. "And maybe because I figured you'd be here."
That had been the first time he'd really admitted to seeking you out, and it had thrown you off balance. You'd tried to play it cool, to pretend like his presence didn't bother you, but the truth was, it did.
It bothered you because it made you feel things you weren't ready to deal with.
You don't understand why Clapton is suddenly everywhere, why he's acting like he cares about you. And worse, you don't understand why it's affecting you so much.
The night hangs heavy with the threat of rain, the dark clouds above swirling like they're trying to decide whether to break.
You're not sure why you came to this party, really.
It's not like you enjoy being crammed into some stranger's living room, surrounded by people who barely know you. But here you are, hoping maybe this time will be different.
The music thumps in time with your heartbeat as you step inside, the bass reverberating through the walls and into your bones. The living room is packed, bodies pressed together, moving in a rhythm dictated more by the sheer lack of space than any real desire to dance. You push through, grabbing a drink from the first table you see, the liquid sloshing over the rim as someone jostles you from behind. You don't even look at what's in the cup before taking a sip.
It doesn't matter.
It's been a rough week, the kind where everything that could go wrong did. School's been a drag, the same monotony grinding away at you day after day.
You're tired of the routine, tired of pretending that any of it matters.
And then there's Clapton Davis.
You don't know what it is about him that gets under your skin. Maybe it's the way he always seems so indifferent to everything, like the world could crumble around him and he wouldn't even blink. Or maybe it's the fact that, despite his detached demeanor, he's one of the few people who's ever really seen you.
You scan the room, looking for a familiar face, and that's when you spot him.
Clapton, leaning against the wall, one foot propped up behind him. He's got that damn smirk on his face, the one that makes you want to both punch him and kiss him at the same time.
He catches your eye. There's a flicker of something in his eyes again, but just as quickly as it appears, it's gone, replaced by that irritating, lazy grin that drives you crazy.
But it wasn't long before your luck ran out.
"Ah, just my luck," he called out loudly enough for you to hear over the music. "Didn't know this party was open to everyone."
You narrowed your eyes at him, already feeling the familiar tension building. "I could say the same about you, Davis. Didn't think a party like this was lame enough to attract you."
He chuckled, pushing himself away from the counter and making his way toward you. "Careful, someone might think you've been waiting for me."
You clenched your jaw, already regretting engaging with him. "As if. You're the last person I'd waste time on."
"Is that so?" Clapton was closer now, his smirk never leaving his face. "Then why can't you seem to take your eyes off me, huh?"
Before you can respond, someone bumps into you, nearly spilling your drink. You stumble, and suddenly Clapton is right there, his hand on your arm to steady you. It's such a small, simple gesture, but it sends your heart into overdrive.
You hate that he has this effect on you, hate that you can't just ignore him like you do with everyone else.
But tonight feels different. Maybe it's the alcohol starting to hit, or maybe it's the way he's looking at you, like he's seeing something he didn't expect to find.
Whatever it is, it makes you reckless.
"Why do you always do that?" you ask, the words slipping out before you can stop them. "Act like nothing matters?Like you’re better than everyone?"
Clapton's hand drops from your arm, but he doesn't step back. Instead, he leans in closer, his eyes searching yours in a way that makes your breath catch in your throat.
He raises an eyebrow. "I don't act like I'm better than everyone. I just... I don't care as much as you think I do. About all this high school drama."
"That's the problem," you counter, words tumbling out before you can stop them. "You don't care. You never care. About anything."
For a moment, Clapton's face shifts, something flickering in his expression that you can't quite place. He looks at you, really looks at you, in a way he hasn't before. It's almost unsettling.
"Maybe I care more than you think," he says quietly, and there's something in his voice that makes you pause.
There was a moment of silence between the two of you, the kind that made your heart race. You knew you should get up, walk away, and pretend that whatever was happening wasn't real. But you didn't. You stayed there, frozen, as Clapton's gaze drifted to your lips, his smirk fading into something more serious
"I'm gonna do something stupid," he muttered, more to himself than to you.
Before you could ask what he meant, Clapton closed the gap between you, pressing his lips to yours in a kiss that was both unexpected and inevitable. For a split second, you were too stunned to react, but then something clicked, and you found yourself kissing him back, your hands tangling in his hair as the weight of everything that had come before melted away
The kiss was heated, desperate, fueled by the alcohol and the unresolved tension that had been simmering between you for who knows how long.
It's all a blur of movement. His hands gripping your waist, your fingers tangling in his hair.
It's rough, messy, a tangle of emotions that you've both been holding back for too long.
When Clapton finally pulled away, his lips still hovering close to yours, you were both breathless, staring at each other as if trying to figure out what the hell had just happened.
"Okay," he breathed, his voice rough, "that was definitely stupid."
You laughed, though it sounded more like a gasp. "Yeah, no kidding."
"Well," Clapton said after a moment, a small smirk returning to his lips, "at least now I can say I've kissed the one person who hates me most."
You rolled your eyes, still trying to catch your breath. "Shut up, Davis."
"Let's get out of here," he said, his voice low and teasing, "This party is lame"
You hesitated for a second, your brain still catching up with everything that had just happened. Leave the party? With him? But before you could fully process it, Clapton had already grabbed your wrist, leading you through the crowded house with his usual nonchalance. He didn't even look back to check if you were following. He just knew you were.
Outside, the night air hit your face, cool and refreshing compared to the stuffy heat inside. Clapton slowed down as you both walked to the edge of the driveway where his skateboard was propped up against a wall, waiting for him like it always did.
"Oh, great," you muttered, eyeing the board with a mix of amusement. "You're not seriously thinking of skating around after everything that just happened."
Clapton shot you a sideways glance, that infuriatingly familiar smirk curling at his lips. "Why not? Thought you could use some excitement, considering how thrilled you were in there."
You rolled your eyes, crossing your arms over your chest as you leaned against a lamppost, watching him pick up his skateboard. "Right, because watching you break your neck on that thing sounds like a blast."
He chuckled, stepping onto the board with practiced ease and starting to roll back and forth on the driveway, his balance perfect. The wheels made a soft grinding sound against the concrete as he moved effortlessly, gliding in circles around you with an almost lazy grace. His movements were smooth, casual, like he had no care in the world. For a moment, it was almost mesmerizing, watching how he balanced himself so easily.
"C'mon," Clapton said after a few moments, pushing off the ground and circling back toward you, the grin still plastered on his face. "You're not just gonna stand there, are you?"
"You think I'm getting on that thing? No way."
"Oh, come on," he teased, stopping right in front of you and holding out a hand, his eyes sparkling with a challenge. "Don't be such a wimp. I won't let you fall."
You stared at his hand, then at him, trying to decide whether or not to trust him. It wasn't that you didn't believe he could keep you from falling, it was more about the principle of it. Getting on a skateboard with him after all this time of hating each others? It sounded ridiculous.
But then again... tonight had already been ridiculous in more ways than one.
"Fine," you muttered, taking his hand before you could change your mind. "But if I fall, I'm taking you down with me."
"Deal" Clapton said with a grin, pulling you closer as he shifted his weight on the board, giving you room to step on. "Now, just relax. I've got you."
His grip was steady, surprisingly gentle as he helped you onto the skateboard. You were tense at first, your legs stiff as you tried to balance, but Clapton kept one hand on your waist, guiding you as the board started to move beneath your feet.
"I swear, if we crash..." you began, trying to ignore the way your heart was racing, but Clapton just laughed.
"We're not gonna crash," he said, his voice light and teasing. "Just keep your balance. You're doing fine."
You weren't sure if he was right about that, but you let him guide you, his hand never leaving your waist as you rolled down the driveway, moving in slow, lazy arcs. The world felt different from up here, the ground moving beneath your feet in a way that was both unnerving and strangely fun. You glanced at Clapton out of the corner of your eye, half-expecting him to mock you or say something sarcastic, but he was just smiling like he was actually enjoying this.
"Don't get too cocky," you shot back, though there was no real bite to your words. "This doesn't mean I like you."
"Sure," he said, his grin widening as he spun the board in a gentle curve. "You hate me. Got it."
"Exactly," you replied, though the smile on your face gave you away.
The two of you kept gliding down the street, Clapton still steering, his hand never leaving your waist as the conversation flowed easily between you. It was almost like you'd forgotten about the months of animosity between you, as if the kiss at the party had reset everything, leaving you both in this in- between place where you could laugh and joke, even as you kept up the pretense of hating each other.
"Remember that time you almost got me detention for that stupid prank you pulled?" you said, glancing over at him.
Clapton chuckled. "You mean the prank you fell for? Yeah, I remember. Pretty sure you're still mad about that."
"I'm not mad," you lied, though you couldn't keep the smile off your face. "I just think you're an idiot."
"An idiot who saved you from a boring party," Clapton countered, his smirk never fading.
"Yeah, well, I didn't ask for that," you replied, crossing your arms even though you were still balancing on the skateboard.
"No, but you didn't complain either," Clapton teased, his eyes glinting in the dim streetlight as he pushed the board a little faster, making you grip onto him a little tighter.
“Maybe I just didn’t have a choice,” you shot back, your cheeks hurting from how much you were smiling.
You both slowed down, eventually coming to a stop near the end of the street. Clapton stepped off the board, still holding your hand as you found your footing again on solid ground. You looked at him, and for the first time all night, neither of you said anything sarcastic or biting. You just stood there, in the quiet.
Clapton tilted his head slightly, his eyes meeting yours. "So... still hate me?"
You bit your lip, pretending to think about it. "I'll let you know tomorrow."
"Fair enough," he replied with a grin, pulling you a little closer. "But if tonight's any indication, I think you might be warming up to me."
Clapton leaned in after that, pressing a soft kiss to your lips, one that felt completely different from the heated one earlier. When he pulled back, his smirk returned, though this time, it wasn't annoying. It was almost... endearing.
"I hate you," you whisper, the words tumbling out before you can stop them. But there's no venom in your voice, just a soft, aching truth that you both understand.
"I hate you too," he replies, but there's a small, crooked smile on his lips, and his thumb is brushing against your cheek in a way that makes your heart skip a beat.

do you ever think just for a little bit, that you might be wrong?
having so many angry people come and tell you that you're wrong, doesn't that make you doubt yourself?
if you were a little bit more humble and a little less entitled, you would consider that you are human too, therefore you're just as prone to making mistakes as anyone else.
maybe you should research better your sources, some of the people you've been talking to have said before that they just like to rile people up, they've admited to making up stuff just for fun.
you also have a dignosed sociopath among your sources, which means they cannot understand emotions.
there's also a troll in disguise, who brags about making people like you believe anything, and then laughs their ass of when you people start making theories based on their bs.
seriously, is it that crazy to believe that Jensen really loves the woman he married?
Hello anon.
You asked a lot here, and I first want to thank you for actually being respectful and polite about it. I don't think I'm being attacked for sharing speculation so much as these particular fans took offense that I'm pointing out that Jensen is, well, an imperfect human. And they didn't have to read my posts--that's just it. Why does it matter if a lone, small-time blogger, is saying something opposite of what they think and feel? I'm not hunting them down, am I? No. I stick to my little corner here.
Okay. Now that's out of the way... let's address what you said.
do you ever think just for a little bit, that you might be wrong?
All the time. It's called being an imperfect human. Not just about Jensen, about everything. Hell, in one screenplay I've been writing on and off (based in the late 1800s) I actually consult my historian daughter-in-law. I'm not joking either.
having so many angry people come and tell you that you're wrong, doesn't that make you doubt yourself?
A dozen--and this is me being generous because their identity is protected through the anonymous feature--of people being pissed at me is not "many" and no... it wouldn't.
Now, if they had concrete proof of anything that I said was wrong, I would actually retract what I said. When it was already pointed out to me that I got an Austin property and the Colorado condo incorrect, I apologized right in the open! When I get a piece of fact wrong, I do apologize. Even if it killed me.
So far, I haven't really seen anything concrete that says I'm wrong. And no, sadly, "Jensen said so!" is not enough. Not when a lot of what he's said is contradictory or an outright lie. (Example: Prequelgate.)
if you were a little bit more humble and a little less entitled, you would consider that you are human too, therefore you're just as prone to making mistakes as anyone else.
Please point out where I arrogantly stated that I knew better than anyone. That I alone knew better than anyone. Please. I beg you. And "entitled" is a strong word, but I'll roll with it. Because... I am entitled to share my opinion on just about anything. Just as you and others are entitled to feel pissed off about it. (Though you are not entitled to the protection of anonymous responses.)
The vast majority of what I've shared and written has been agreed upon by other Jensen Ackles fans and even non-fans! You think I came to some observations on my own?? Or that I didn't wrestle with it for months?
maybe you should research better your sources, some of the people you've been talking to have said before that they just like to rile people up, they've admited to making up stuff just for fun.
You mean like... oh... AustinAmy? Or Abi? Jensen Ackles fans who lied? Them?
And, um. Who do you think I've been getting information from? @walker-girl? @its-sassyboots? Or @hologramcowboy? Or @neecy83? Or @jarpadswalker? Or @supernaturalconvert? (My sincerest apologies to those I tagged. Ahem.)
In actuality? None of them.
Most of what I've mentioned, brought up, were through my own two eyes and ears. I read articles. I watched con panels. I observed pictures that I found through public media. Some, sure, were screenshots that were preserved, thankfully, when Danneel went on a deletion spree to hide her hideous behavior, but most... public. Social media. I didn't 'talk' to anyone.
I did it myself. Why do you think it takes a while for new posts? Because I vet them as much as possible!
And who is making stuff up? Please. I'd love to know.
you also have a dignosed sociopath among your sources, which means they cannot understand emotions.
Er. Who? Because again... I'm not getting anything from just one person. I vet as much as possible or ask for videos. For proof.
there's also a troll in disguise, who brags about making people like you believe anything, and then laughs their ass of when you people start making theories based on their bs.
Again: You mean like AustinAmy and/or Abi? Or Cynifer? Or Dot? Because those so-called members of the Ackles Army are the ones spreading lies.
No one I've spoken to. Because again--I ask for proof. Why do you think I asked about the videos that were sent to me? So I could see for myself.
And I'm still waiting for anyone to point out whatever I wrote is wrong... and back it up.
(Opinions, however, will always be opinions. I guess I do need to state in plain English that some of what I've stated is speculation and I have every right to write my speculations.)
seriously, is it that crazy to believe that Jensen really loves the woman he married?
Yes.
Because he himself stated that his marriage works better when they're apart. That he himself said that when Danneel was on the set of Supernatural, he couldn't be himself. That he himself said that more than once when he came home, she'd hand him the keys and take off herself.
Because a lot of his stories read very generic. There's nothing specific. Just "Danneel likes French food and French music." Okay? When a con or two ago, it was Italian food. Or he'd go sit outside and watch the kids run around. Where's the heart? Where's the specific thing that would stand out in a memory--like maybe while he was moving furniture upon Danneel's direction, he snagged his pants against something and she had to free him while laughing her ass off?
Not to mention, in a lot of photos, there's no genuine affection. It reads like a business arrangement more than a love story. Their kisses in public? And no, I'm not saying they need to be tongue deep to show a kiss. I'm saying their kisses read like cold fish, with his lips so closed and desperately pulling away all the time.
Even Danneel has more open affection and warmth with a family friend than she does her own husband!
So... yes. It is hard to believe.
I've not seen any genuine love or warmth from Danneel--not in anything she's said to do, or done to him. And Jensen... same for him, from him, about her.
Look, anon, I get it.
As hard as it sounds, I am passionate about Jensen. I've been a big fan since his time on Days of Our Lives. I've seen him grow and then stagnate as an actor. I've seen him go from this open, slightly shy and reserved young man to... to this. I could show you, nearly, a timeline of seeing him being bright and full of energy to someone who looks like he's dying inside. This isn't an attack, I promise you.
It's an observation. No, it's not a projection (as I've been accused). It's someone who grew up in an abusive household (like Jensen with his father; his own words) and learned how to read people in order to survive. As a result, I could tell when someone was devastated even before they were ready to talk about it. I was the person people turned to for a shoulder because they knew I'd listen and actually care.
It's how I made my own family.
It's how I came into having a daughter.
I'm not sharing this to toot my horn, anon.
Because isn't it possible... that maybe I'm the one who is right? And it's shattering a vision of an actor who should be seen as an imperfect human being as opposed to the perfect man with the perfect marriage and the perfect career?

20 questions for writers
thank you for the tag @fanfictiongreenirises I finally managed to finish a tag game!!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
168- with 44 podfics and the rest are regular fics!
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
346,848. unfathomable number who is she where did she come from
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Batman (Batfam) my love my life, but 9-1-1 is a close second with one-offs for a lot of my other passing interests.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Floppy Bird - crack fic that was meant to be an angst fic that I never understood why people liked so much asfhjs
cocoa on a cold night - a classic timby holiday fic that I wrote in the middle of summer, talk about environmental storytelling
secrets un(revealed) - the only purposeful long fic I've ever written, and also the most trope mashing I've ever done with reverse robins, magical realism au, and delicious delicious miscommunications (in my head the only fic that deserves to be in the top five :wheeze: )
Eggshells - vent fic alert !! very embarrassing that people like this I try not to think about it ":)
taking the blade (for you and yours) - a round robin fic written with the server and CHOCK full of Damian suffering.
5. Do you respond to comments?
NO PICTURES. NO COMMENT. I DONT KNOW HOW TO READ.
no jk jk I really really try to but once I start getting behind it's just a whole spiral. these days I have a better chance of replying to a comment on an old fic than a brand new one because I dont want leave them half replied
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
any of my death fics probably? I think with DC a death is a little more inconsequential than other fandoms just because of how often it's unpermanent, so as a concrete answer, I'll say for you (i would cross the line). nothing quite like parental grief.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
happy ending wink-wonk or XD
probably Who The Hell Is Red Hood? - I've done things there with growth and healing that DC HQ would shudder to imagine
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not regularly, thank everything, but the one controversial three-some I posted needed comment regulation lmao
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes and uh, the kinky kind? idk take a look for yourselves I guess
10. Do you write crossovers?
Yes, and they're ALWAYS unserious- Buck from 9-1-1 dating Emma from Friends (yes Ross and Rachel's kid) anyone?
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Uh, not by a person? as far as I know? but I have found my fic on those like, document websites??? which is weird lmao just read them on your phones guys not everything needs to be uploaded
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
nope!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
weee yes! round robin my beloved, and also every fic @canonicallyshort and I have written in our threads. those count. to me. emotionally.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
I WILL GO DOWN WITH MY MULTISHIP (which really means I'm never going down at all) but really I dont think I will ever get over Merthur... or Buddie... or- you see what I mean?
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
oh god I have so many wip that I am holding out hope for but my biggest WIP is an unpublished hellhole affectionately entitled "Death Pit" by everyone who is working on it- most notably because it features a literal Death Pit, every horror, angst, whump, and trauma trope you can think of, and a cast of characters and a plot thread so long we have 20+ page outline documents that aren't even fully updated... I shudder to think what will become of it one day, I imagine sentience isn't very far off
16. What are your writing strengths?
why is this an interview question. I dont know my strengths really?? um. I have good ideas, that one I'll say. execution is a different story (likely one that will never get told. like the rest of my good ideas)
I also think I do fairly well with scene descriptors. I really like to set a scene because I'm seeing a movie in my head and you all should too!
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I'm down to clown globally! I dont like to use google translate though, so if im writing in another language it's only because SOMEONE on the server is a native speaker and can vouch for my text.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
oh god one direction. head in hands. it was an 'adopted by 1d' fic that I made my mom beta, and turned it in to my 6th grade English teacher as my creative writing assignment. then I made a poem about it. then I wrote a song about it. thankfully it never got published and is trapped in the cursed purple file folder it was 'hidden' in since 7th grade. my first published fic was almost 7 years later with a Gomens fic!
20. Favourite fic you've written?
AHh um. favorite child scene here, but top contenders include: lithium + 5 for its graphic design and medical accuracy, fiery veins on speechless days for its emotional whump that makes me hurt every time I reread it, [PODFIC] wither on the shore which is not a fic I wrote but one of my favorite podfics of @silk-scarlet-ribbons 's works.

Fanfic writer interview
Thank you @sotwk for tagging me! I did this back in April but I've written quite a few fics since then so let's go!
How many works do you have on AO3? 14
What's your total AO3 word count? 54,851
Your top 5 stories by kudos/likes:
I feel like this has likely not changed since last time XD
Victory in Defeat (Faramir/Éowyn)
White Blossom (Boromir & OC)
A Monster in the Shadows (Éowyn & Théoden)
The Power of Tea (Gilraen & Bilbo)
At the Death of a Friend (Galadriel & Saruman)
(The People have spoken. They want Farawyn swordfights and Boromir to be happy and alive.)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! Although I may take a while to get to it due to life in general (or I'm staring lovingly at your comment, whispering 'my preciousssss' like Gollum with the Ring, unwilling to relinquish it from my inbox, it's mine, it's mine, it came to me! ... ahem).
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
the plain sight of our destiny is the cruellest thing of all - yeah, hope and joy are not really on the menu in Sauron-era Umbar.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
The Face of Spring ... if we ignore canon (which I did while writing it, because I am deluded). This fic is basically an increasingly rapid slide into complete joy (again, don't look at the canon). Otherwise probably Victory in Defeat. (I find it kind of neat that both of these fics feature members of the House of Eorl being absolutely head-over-heels in love with their partner. Because that is the true meaning of happiness.)
Do you write crossovers?
No.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Nope.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No, although never say never. I never thought I'd write darkfic but here we are.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
No.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. And I am a control freak so I doubt it would be a good idea.
What's your all-time favorite ship?
*gestures helplessly at Farawyn* It's kind of my thing.
(Although my uncle has told me that watching Battlestar Galactica will rewire my brain in this department. Check back in a few months to see if he knows what he's talking about.)
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
A Hunger Games fic from a few years ago. I love the characters dearly but there isn't really enough plot to hold it together.
What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, I think, and descriptions of emotion.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Any descriptive passages. Why can't I just project my vision into my readers' brains? Why? (Although I have been informed by @from-the-coffee-shop-in-edoras that I write disgusting grime and water-logged corpses very well :D)
I also hate outlining which is objectively bad because outlining helps so much.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Full sentences? No. The odd phrase in Sindarin/Quenya? Sure.
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
The Fall of the House of Usher. That show is still eating my brain and I need to exorcise some of my thoughts. I don't know if I'll end up posting anything or if it will be coherent enough to post but I'm gonna have a crack at it the minute all the vitamins I'm taking kick in and I have energy again.
What's your favorite fic you've written?
I love all my fics for different reasons but at the moment I'm feeling particularly proud of out of the water, cold and blue, because it was just such an experience to write and I am so, so happy with how it turned out. I really enjoyed torturing writing Tar-Míriel and Elendil and their terrible, tragic, twisted dynamic very normal lord-vassal conversation.
tagging @from-the-coffee-shop-in-edoras @aredhels @queerofthedagger @dilettantefeminist @mithrandirl @welcomingdisaster @swanmaids if you'd like to do this!

(Alright, alright. Hi. This whole thing is going to be OOC, and it's going to be attached to my pinned post from a link that goes to this post. To put it simply!) Let's lay out some proper rules for me and Jimmy here, cause apparently I overestimated people and their basic understanding of human decency! (I would REALLY prefer you read this.)
First off, if I say I don't want to roleplay something, don't go against me for that. It's my choice, and I have my own reasons for it. I own the blog, I get to decide what's canon to it and what isn't as well. Currently? It's kind of a mess. So if I ever feel the need to clean that up, don't get upset about it.
Be respectful in general, please! That should be a basic thing. I also, as I have stated, am not good at communicating. Please be patient with me. Me and Jimmy are two different people. I get it, he's an asshole. You can hate him all you want, don't take it to the mod. I just want to explore him as a character, we all have our own shit to deal with.
I am as human as you likely are. I'm not just a character from a game, I'm a real person. I have my boundaries, I have things I'm comfortable with doing, and things I'm not. It's hard to speak up about that, and I automatically assume people are assholes at first insult, keep that in mind. I WILL block you if you deserve it in my eyes, I block freely, and that's that. No second chances.
My mental health is a priority, I am a priority, this is my blog and I'm doing this for fun.
Now then! Onto actual roleplaying rules, sorry.
Don't control Jimmy for me, or at least not too often, alright? It kind of takes the fun out of it if I feel like I have to do a set thing. We all have fun here, yeah, and most of the time I'll let whatever happens, happen. But I do have my limits when it comes to getting annoyed.
I need everyone to know I roleplay in a specific way. I make Jimmy talk with "Speaking!" and when he does actions, it's just; He does an action! Wow! And that's that. I get why that could be confusing. Whatever happens in his thoughts, stays in there. People aren't just mind readers now, are they? When I talk out of character, it'll have () on both sides of the text. That's me, not Jimmy. Don't be an asshole or I'll think it's deliberately to me, and I'll block you. I feel like I really have to emphasize that.
The whole point of him is that he has secrets, yeah. He's a manipulative bastard, what a shock. It's not a huge problem, especially considering a lot of the anons are probably just voices in his head or whatever, and it will be assumed as such if you just know everything about him. Like Doubt for example! (Positive by the way, you're cool Doubt mod :])
Anything Jimmy does is not endorsed by the mod, I know roleplay is in character, it's fine if you're an asshole to him. Though, sometimes I wish the insane bullshit would die down a bit. Cause, between you and me? I don't know how to roleplay him getting killed twenty fucking times over. I never EVER want to be limiting on what you can do!! I'm just getting kind of tired of nothing on this blog making sense. :(
No death is canon by the way, ever. Unless it is decided by me AND the mod of whoever else is roleplaying. Or, if it's just me writing Jimmy in a stand alone post. In which, most of the time are free to interact with, do as you wish. A lot of the things he receives as 'gifts' I'm not even going to remember, I have a bad memory. Speaking of deaths and killing!
Please, if you're gonna kill Jimmy and even slightly THINK of making it canon, make it make sense. And, also, ask me first. It can be in the tags, you don't have to DM me, I always read tags. In fact, I'd probably prefer to not get DMED anyway.
Please understand there's several Jimmys in several different places. He may be terribly injured one place, and completely fine in another for the convenience of asks and other roleplays. Of course, that's always open. You want to roleplay with an upset, stressed and or injured Jimmy? Go ahead. You want to roleplay with normal Jimmy? Sure.
I can delete asks freely. Especially if I just don't know how to answer them, or really don't feel like putting that on the blog. If I stop roleplaying with you, again, it's NOT personal! I just don't fucking know how to respond or I got tired of the way things were going, I may or may not be on the neurodivergent spectrum bear with me. Or I just. You know, took a break, took care of myself, perhaps took a nap. I have a life I fear.
I don't exactly know how to cover everything here, but just think basic roleplaying rules. Don't be an asshole to the mod, and have fun, don't expect everything to be canon. They can be with the specific character he's roleplaying with, but don't always expect it to be canon throughout the whole blog! If you're somehow really that clueless, feel free to search up 'basic roleplaying rules' on Google or something. I can't explain things right when I'm not thinking straight. This is NOT up for debate, none of these rules are, I mean. And if you want to stay on this blog, I expect you to read them.
#jimmysrunningagain#(fighting for my fucking life to post this but whatever we ball it's my blog my fun and whimsy)

Twenty questions for fanfic writers
I was tagged by @agent-troi and @randomfoggytiger Thanks for the tag, guys!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
53
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
712,000 exactly, which is sort of creepy?
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The X-Files mainly, though a million years ago I wrote two fics for JAG, and technically, I have a His Dark Materials fic (but it's an XF crossover)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The Mesas of Deuteronilus Mensae
Prompt Drabble Collection
The Annapolis Grant
Three Part Harmony
A Companion Unobtrusive
5. Do you respond to comments?
I try to! Comments are the only payment fanfic writers get, and it's an incredibly valuable and underrated currency. Fanfiction as a community is one of the most generous you'll find, and I'm incredibly proud to be a part of this particular one.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oh man, probably La Comtesse de Saint-Germain.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
In this day and age I feel like we deal with enough shit, so I try to end most of my fics happily. I think A Gem-Like Flame probably has the most uplifting happy ending, but then, I'm a sports nerd.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I haven't yet.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Um, probably pretty vanilla het MSR. No shame.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I've only written one, but it turned out really well, I thought. It's an X-Files/His Dark Materials novella-length crossover that takes place in Lyra's world, pre-Lyra, called Out of the Little Grove.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Anyone who steals my fic is going to catch these hands.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, a couple of years ago someone asked if they could translate one of my fics to Russian. It's out there somewhere.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I jumped in and helped @monikafilefan get Five Years and a Lifetime over the line for a fic exchange a couple of years ago. A fun, collaborative experience, that was like 85% Monika. It's a great fic, check it out if you haven't!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Mulder & Scully are my OTP. Always and forever.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I'd love to finish Madam Scully's Spiritual Services, Inc., it's an AU where Scully works for her sister's Psychic Boutique while prepping for med school. Scully ends up being actually psychic and she helps newly minted FBI agent Fox Mulder solve a series of murders. I have it almost completely plotted (except for the nitty-gritty hard stuff), but I don't think I'll ever get it done, sadly. It's just too big a story to tackle with where I am in my life. Though I never say never.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I'm decent at dialogue, have a pretty firm grasp on plotting, and, I hope characterization.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
My character work is probably my weak spot, which is why I have so much fun writing fanfic--the character work is already done, I just get to play around a world where everybody already knows the characters.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
When I do it, I hope like hell that I'm doing it right. I think it's necessary for some stories and you just hope you're properly respecting a language you don't speak.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The X-Files, in the year of our lord nineteen hundred and ninety eight.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
It's a toss up between Proof of Life, an AU where CNN conflict reporter Dana Scully is kidnapped and imprisoned with fellow kidnap victim and photojournalist Fox Mulder, and they, you know, fall in love. And North of Zero, a post-col novel where Mulder and Scully get William back and have to save the world. The one I totally pantsed (made up as I went along), and it came together like alchemy. I love that story. If you don't like AU, you'd like Proof of Life. If you don't like post-colonization stories, you'd like North of Zero. I don't always like everything I've written after I'm done writing it (a writer's life), but I'm incredibly proud of both of those fics.
Tagging @monikafilefan because she's already tagged, and anyone else who wants to do this!

Fic Writer Interview (thank you @chandelier-s-notebook for the tag my dear!!)
I'll use a cut as well!
How many works do you have on ao3?
On this account, 6! In total its something like 50 I think!
What’s your total word count?
you will probably not believe this but it's 1,021,939. most of it is on different accounts or on anon. i promise you a lot of the early ones are....not really worth reading
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
fire + sound (you guys are freaks ily)
i'd sing you a morning golden and new
Of Shadow
remember me love, when i'm reborn
something for band of brothers from 10 years ago that's anonymous
Do you respond to comments? Why/ why not?
Yes, i try to respond to all of them! it means a lot to me when people take the time to comment, so i try to always take the time to give a response
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Definitely this one. I used to have a no sad endings policy and this is the first thing i've ever written that's broken that!
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
if i had words has a pretty happy ending! once the sequel is done it will have a VERY happy ending
Do you write crossovers?
Not in the sense of crossovers with two characters from two different fandoms. i love a good au though!
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I don't think so. Occasionally I get comments that come off as a little rude, but I try to give people the benefit of the doubt and assume they didn't mean it like that
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
hahahah do i ever!! and now i have friends who enable me so its only getting worse from here im afraid!!!
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, i've floated ideas online and had them stolen before but i've never been plagiarized
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! A couple of my older fics. It's one of the biggest compliments imo
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, I cowrote a crack fic a few years ago and i'm gonna be cowriting another soon! we're still in the brainstorm stage right now
What's your all-time favourite ship?
oof ok canonically i think stucky is kind of boring but some of the fics really went off
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
................we will have GTA6 before we get the pacrim au...............
What are your writing strengths?
Hmm probably setting descriptions? i get a lot of compliments for the capri scenes in if i had words. sometimes i write decent smut but i dont consider it to be reliably something im good at, it can be hit or miss
What are your writing weaknesses?
planning, outlining, anything like that. there are many cases of me writing 90% of a fic and then taking a million years to post the final chapter because i'm not quite sure how everything is tied together at the end. usually i write 20%, stop and make an outline and then write the rest, but the outline for the ending is always so vague that it just doesn't really work out and it takes way more brain power than it needs to. i am aware of this. unfortunately i will probably never change.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
this is such a good question okok so it depends a little? say its charles' pov and theyre speaking french. i usually just put it in english but indicate theyre speaking french because the reader knows as much as the pov does. but if someones speaking dutch i usually just say "x said something in dutch" because he doesnt understand it so neither does the reader. sometimes i put the actual dutch if doing it the other way would break the flow of it, but i dont provide translations unless its something that charles would understand
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
band of brothers i think!
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
actually i dont know if there are any!! maybe piarles? yukierre? honestly though i'm pretty happy where i am <3
What's your favourite fic you've written?
if i had words is my baby <33 i dont know if i have a favorite out of the two parts though. i love them both in different ways. i maybe have a slight preference for charles', though!

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
Thank you for the tag @ladyaldhelm :)
1. how many works do you have on AO3? None - BUT, hope to have one on there in August or sooner :) I used to be on fanfiction.net - 9 stories still posted there.
2. what's your total AO3 word count? N/A - Although my longest story on FF is ~ 57.1k words. And I have a feeling I am going to surpass that with my current fic...
3. what fandoms do you write for? The Last Kingdom currently, may return to Twilight, previously Power Rangers, considered a few others
4. top five fics by kudos: N/A for A03, but Finding Love on FF has 147 favorites and 172 reviews.....
5. do you respond to comments? I likely will...On Fanfic, I tried to interact with people who PMed or Commented as much as possible!
6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I don't think I ever had something have an angsty ending? Just an angsty beginning/middle? Especially since I wrote my published fics at age 14/15? But I hardcore am into dragging my muses through the mud right now.
7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Probably Finding Love lol. It's a very wholesome fic.
8. do you get hate on fics? I did on the first ever fic I published. The worst part was that it was on stuff that I thought you were supposed to do based on reading tons of other fics. It shook me to my core since I was FOURTEEN. Sad to say - the fic is now gone from fanfiction and my computer and it's my biggest regret :(
9. do you write smut? Yes - But I've actually never published it now that I think about it! And have not written as much as my brain is convinced?! Oh wait that was my rpg days thats why.
10. craziest crossover? No crossovers. Just really into AUs.
11. have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge!
12. have you ever had a fic translated? Either someone wanted to translate Finding Love or get it bound into real books...I cannot remember LOL.
13. have you ever co-written a fic before? Nah.
14. all time favorite ship? No pls don't make me choose :( I'm going to say Rosalie and Emmett from Twilight because they were the first ones to inspire me to write my own fic.
15. what's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Honestly? I have SO many Stiorra and Sigtryggr fics that are 60% plotted, but I don't know if I'll ever get to writing all of them? Unless I keep my fixation for the next 10+ years, especially with wanting to write my own stuff. Plus, maybe Finding Love the Sequel...I made a lot of sad people when I did not finish it.
16. what are your writing strengths? Dialogue. And maybe action?
17. what are your writing weaknesses? Show don't tell and being ~poetic~ and introspection? I struggle with 3rd person.
18. thoughts on dialogue in another language? I love it! And I want to incorporate it into a few of my fic ideas. However, I am not sure HOW I want to do it yet - i.e. Google translate OR just "They spoke in xyz language". When done well, it can be a great plot device!
19. first fandom you wrote in? Twilight!
20. favorite fic you've written? Currently the one I am writing.
No pressure tags: @azriona and anyone else on here that's a writer!

20 questions for fic writers!
many many thanks to @garglyswoof for tagging m
How many works do you have on ao3? 63. i need to calm down.
What's your total ao3 word count? 747 502. i need to calm down.
What fandoms do you write for? the vampire diaries, shadow & bone, avatar: the last airbender, star wars, marvel. also, that one suez canal x ever given fic, and that one goncharov fic.
Top five fics by kudos: A Queen's Gamble (you know it's an old one if the title is capitalised lmao), make them bow., the fate makes for a lousy poet., where the heart moves the stones, nyctophilia.
Do you respond to comments? i try. i am not very good at it, but every now and then i sit down, crack my knuckles, and go about emptying my poor inbox.
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? the end. is like ... the only fic i ever wrote that ended unhappily.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? see above, lol, literally everything else. i'm a wuss.
Do you get hate on fics? i mean ... not really? i would mostly classify the rude things i got as entitlement rather than hate. the impression i usually got was that those people liked my writing style, or the plot, or characterisation, or whatever--there was just one thing or several that they wanted to happen differently, and they felt the need to tell me that.
Do you write smut? looooooo, no, my ace ass would probably spontaneously combust.
Craziest crossover: i don't suppose i've ever written an actual crossover, but today i put dracula-the-historical-figure into the vampire diaries universe, so ....
Have you ever had a fic stolen? ... maybe? okay, strap yourselves: a few years ago someone asked if they could translate a fic of mine into spanish and post it on wattpad, and i said yes. (THIS is one of the reasons why i don't allow translations anywhere but ao3 anymore). they did, and they sent me the link. i linked the translation to my fic, the usual. then, a lot later, i actually went to check their post, and i realised that i wasn't credited though the person said they would. yaaaaay.
Have you ever had a fic translated? well, other than the fiasco up there, the incredible @winterandmistletoe, who made the edit that graces the beginning of make them bow., has two chapters of the russian translation of that fic up on ao3. there's also been an offer to translate The Manifesto of a Last Love into russian, but that one hasn't been posted yet.
Have you ever co-written a fic before? i have not! and honestly, i don't think i'd be very good at it. i'm a bit of a tyrant, so in an effort NOT to be perceived as such i'd probably be super lenient of whatever the other people came up with even if i didn't necessarily like it. i'm pretty particular in my tastes, and one of the things i love about writing fic is that i have nobody but myself to answer to.
All time favorite ship? ehhhhh, nooo, i can't choose between my children!
What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? considering that tvd has had me in its claws for two years now, it feels unlikely i'll ever go back to my wips in other fandoms. you never know of course, but it feels that way. i mean. those unfinished wips don't exactly haunt me, but sometimes i remember them and feel awful about it, lmao.
What are your writing strengths? i'm told i do dialogue and humour well!
What are your writing weaknesses? ughhhhh probably action? it's so hard. oh! and my tendency to describe how a character's eyes look in every other sentence.
Thoughts on dialogue in another language? SO fun fact that dracula fic that i posted today? the one where half the dialogue is in french? i had originally written it all IN FRENCH, and then decided to take mercy on my readers and just put the english translation into italics. yeah. anyway, rule of thumb, ig: if the pov character understands what's being said, then english in italics (or if it's just a sentence or two the spoken language with a footnote). if they can hear individual words, then the language that's being spoken, without translation. if they hear only gibberish--maybe they're super unfamiliar with the language, maybe it's being spoken very fast or with an accent--then just 'character x says something in z'.
First fandom you wrote in? marvel, for my own peace of mind. star wars is the first one i actually posted for.
Favorite fic you've written? again, you can't ask me to pick between my children.

20 questions for fic writers!
tysm for tagging me @bazzybelle, it took me a while to get around to this but it was a lot of fun!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
37!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
113,598, not bad.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
mostly the Simon Snow Trilogy, but I have a couple of Greek Mythology/Epic Cycle fanfics too. i used to write for Percy Jackson and Marve, but not anymore.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
two old Marvel fics are right at the top, then it’s:
i want the love on your wrist (oh give me the heart on your neck), the first explicit work i’ve ever written, maybe a sign i should write more.
The Tale of the Two Merwolves, which I wrote with a bunch of other lovely people in the fandom
Everything I Am Not, my COTTA fic from 2020
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
yes, I always try to!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
definitely crimson, my COTTA fic from 2022, but a close second is Visions, a little Trojan War Helenus fic i still really like.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
well a lot of my fics have fairly happy endings, but I’d say All That She Wants, an Agatha-centric fic, and Happier Memories, a proposal fic, have the most hopeful endings.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
no, I don’t think I ever have, luckily!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
only twice so far, though I have another stewing in my brain that might get written. I can’t really say i'm limited to a certain “type” though, i’m pretty versatile, pun intended.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
no, they’re not really my thing.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not to my knowledge! i hope not.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
back when i used to write on wattpad i got some DMs asking to translate my fics and i always agreed, but i don’t know if they ever followed through.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
yes, i really love doing so! I wrote a stucky fic with one of my friends years ago, but we never ended up posting it anywhere. also, the two aforementioned marvel fics were co-written with another (now ex) friend, and the tale of two merwolves was written as part of a group.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
snowbaz, definitely. it’s been my longest-running OTP (do people still say OTP?) and i’ve written so any fics for it.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
hmm, i’ve only got 3 wips and i think i’ll finish them all eventually, but blow on the tinder and we are slaves to the gods are definitely on the back burner for now.
16. What are your writing strengths?
i’ve been told i’m good at writing dialogue, which is good because that’s two thirds of all the words i write.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
descriptions and anything sappy, which gives me second hand embarrassment.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
i tend to shy away from it, but if i do i always put it in italics and will put a translation in the notes unless it’s super obvious, and like when other authors do the same.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Percy Jackson! I wrote so much solangelo and was actually pretty popular on wattpad, one of my fics broke a million hits which is still insane to me. i still get the occasional message asking me to come back and finish my fics, but i logged out of that account in 2018 and am not going back.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
oh, that’s hard. i’m really enjoying writing Shoulder To Shoulder right now, but i still love All That She Wants and Liar Liar. i also really love I’m On My Way To Believing, which is a greek mythology Pyrrhus/Hermione fic. they’re my blorbos. but i’d have to say my all-time favourite will always have to be the first carry on fic i ever wrote, which got me out of a years long writing slump: Rats.
i don't know who has already done this, so i'll just tag @ileadacharmedlife @prettygoododds @aroace-genderfluid-sheep @imagineacoolusername @ic3-que3n @forabeatofadrum @aristocratic-otter @larkral @hushed-chorus @you-remind-me-of-the-babe @youarenevertooold @artsyunderstudy @alexalexinii @shrekgogurt and @j-nipper-95

20 questions for fic writers
I was tagged on this by @unexpectedstormy ! I wasn't sure whether I was supposed to respond like it was a chain or make my own post, so I just went for it
1. How many works do you have on A03?
Two. There will be more coming, because Blood Drops on Roses is just arc one of this story, and there's a lot of snippets for Prologue floating around.
Blood Drops on Roses: Linked Universe
BDOR Prologue: The Yiga and The Sheikah
2. What's your total A03 word count?
51,493 words since mid-August, when I finally got an account XD I've been a lurker for YEARS ya'll.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Linked Universe only, so far.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
See above XD I hope to get enough fics out there that I can sort my work like that, but for now it's just those two.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes, I respond as soon as I can, they are like crack to me. Maybe because I'm new to sharing my work or something, but I would die for each and every one of you that leaves even as much as a <3
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
NONE OF MY FICS ARE FINISHED YET AAAAAAAAAA. Arc 1's ending is going to be pretty angsty though.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hm, I see that this questionnaire is not meant for me. There is a Prologue section "The Trap" that I'll be putting out soon through, its ending is pretty sweet I would say.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not yet. I am afraid that it's gonna happen, but so far everyone has been so nice, so I hope not D:
9. Do you write smut?
Nah. Don't really read it either. Just not my thing.
10. Do you write crossovers?
I mean unless you count LU as a crossover between all the Link's respective fandoms, no
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Gosh I hope not. How does one steal a fic?
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope. If I ever get good enough at Spanish, I would like to take a crack at translating my own fic once its all published, but it would probably be laughably terrible. Eh, practice is practice.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not yet. Hey @needfantasticstories, I think Clippy Wind and Pug Sky need to go on some adventures together, don't you?
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Tbh I don't really ship. I do think Malon/Time and Legend/Ravio are cute though. I'm just not really interested in exploring the romantic side of stories, even in published literature.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Geez I hope that I finish all of Arc 2 at this point. But I may be too early into the game to answer this.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Heck if I know. I had someone say in my comment section that they liked how I characterize people, so we'll go with that.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I write too much and probably in too much detail. Sometimes it would be better to say "They crossed the bridge and set up camp" but nooooooooooo lets add 7,000 words to this already bloated fic.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Italics. I was about to whip out my decade of Latin for part of this fic, but I decided against it because I'm pretentious but not that pretentious. Also because I still don't understand word order at ALL.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Now that I'm thinking about it, I think I have some fanfic from the dog series of Warrior Cats lurking somewhere that I wrote when I was like 12. Survivors, or something? I should probably go delete it, I'm sure it's trash. I'm scared to even look, it probably hasn't seen the light of day since I wrote it.
20. Favorite fic you've ever written?
Well I've only got one big fic out right now so let's go with BDOR
@needfantasticstories and @somer-writes I'm kicking this your way.
#linked universe#lu#linkeduniverse#cheetoanswers#ao3#linked universe fanfic#hope i did this right#I'm just kinda new so idk how to do this crap lol#bdor#blooddropsonroses

20 Questions for Fic Writers!
@sproutwings tagged me in this, thanks Sandrine ♥ I'll give it a try!
How many works do you have on AO3? on the Zero_Ducks account, 37 (+1 unrevealed).
What’s your total A03 word count? 393,092
What fandoms do you write for? Only DCU at the moment.
What are your top five fics by kudos? (all of these are Sladick!)
You could be my luck, with 394 Kudos. REALLY? Oh well that's a discovery lol. Dick gets pollened and hides in Slade's safehouse because it's the closest he can get to, hoping Slade isn't home. Slade is in fact right there.
Darling Little Things, with 355 kudos. Also quite the surprise! Omegaverse in which Dick is pregnant with Slade's pup, but hasn't told him out of fear Slade wouldn't want them. Everything goes surprisingly well.
Served Cold, with 338 kudos. This one was expected since it's more than a single chapter and was a pretty anticipated entry of my Sladick series. Slade takes his revenge on a hit that Dick ruined.
lie in your bed the way you made it, with 327 kudos. LMAO. I love this fic. It has to be one of the filthiest I've ever written. A pwp in which Dick took a blow intended for one of Slade's marks, and not wanting him to die, Slade has to take care of his sorry ass.
Slade's lucky day, with 301 kudos. My very first Sladick fanfic! Slade is on a mission in Montenegro, and Dick is too. They end up accidentally and less accidentally helping each other, with some strings attached.
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Always. Fandom remains stagnant without interaction, and that's on writers too, not just on readers. Also if I post a fic (which doesn't happen often compared to how many fics I write) is because I want to talk about it with other people!
What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Among those I posted on AO3, probably Losing Game. It's an Eobarryiris fic, and I imagined a potential way it could go well but it ends on a very angsty note (it's a timeloop situation in which they have no idea how to break it, and one of them keeps dying in every cycle so they keep resetting it because they can't let him go).
What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? It has to be Darling Little Things, it ends on a very fluffy note.
Do you get hate on your fic? Not regularly but it happened. What hate gets there is promptly deleted, trolls are not to be fed.
Do you write smut? My smut has plot sometimes.
Do you write crossovers? No, the most I can do is "characters from X universe are now in Y universe", but I don't mash-up characters.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Yeah. Long story. Bad ending. It was years ago though.
Have you ever had a fic translated? A couple of times, not from the Zero_Ducks account though!
Have you ever co-written a fic? I co-write pretty often.
What‘s your all-time favourite ship? I am too ADHD to pick one. Speaking of the DC fandom (which I'm here for), Sladick and Eobarry which I'm sure doesn't come as a shock for anyone.
What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Boy I have 200+ WIPs I will never finish, and I really want to finish like 80% of them lmao. Probably Clipped. Based on the fact that I have no idea how to finish it (it's a Bad Guys Won scenario in which all them little birds are captive and in distress)
What’s your writing strengths? Smut!
What’s your writing weaknesses? Being that I'm not a native English speaker, I have a hard time writing in "styles" which penalizes the dialogues. I have no idea how to show that a character is a certain English speaking nationality, how to give them dialectic quirks, how to make them speak in an old fashioned way. I can in my native language though, and it frustrates me so much not to be able to "translate it".
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? If it's just a small line it's okay, it helps the immersion. If it's entire dialogues I don't see why, people don't understand it what's the point.
First fandom you wrote for? Possibly Spyro Gateway to Glimmer when I was 6 lmao.
Favourite fic you’ve ever written? Again strictly speaking for the Zero_Ducks account, I think it's Elegia. It's been almost two years but it holds the test of time, the emotions still feel very raw and the smut is still good (it's that one time Dick's suicidal behavior after Jason's death went a bit overboard, and Slade decided to do something about it whether Dick liked it or not).
I got to tag people now I guess! No pressure folks, it's just the law
@deepwithintheabyss @anawrites3 @waffleinator-inator @ftl-faster-than-life @ladytauria @thesandsofelsweyr and anyone who wants to do this!

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by @toastytoaster22 (finally getting to this I started this and then life happened haha)
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
8 (i just got back into writing in July 2023!)
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 66,608 (it will probably double as I am deep into a long fic right now)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I used to write Puzzleshipping YGO but I’m all in on Mob psycho 100 now.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Just Breathe
Black Sweatshirt (yeaaaaah rising!)
Emotional explosion (surprised this one I thought got the least amount of reads this was my very first mp100 fic)
Float (I love how much this resonated with people)
Blackhole
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! It’s something I take very seriously. No judgement if someone doesn’t respond to my comment on fics! But for me it’s important to respond.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Ah. Hm. Blackhole I guess? The ending isn’t angst though it’s just a more intense fic.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I think Float is very happy. It makes me smile every time I read it. Also the ending of Cobalt makes me so good. I want to rewrite Cobalt though its missing something. I posted it too soon.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Back in my YGO days I got some but I just ignored it. Usually they were just about me not finishing a fic so….yeah I get it heh
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yep. I’m an adult. I can write and enjoy smut.
But in all seriousness I do and I encourage anyone who is hesitant to write about sex, to just do it for yourself if you ever want to. You never have to post it, you can just write what you want and delete it, or keep it for yourself. Or never write about sex at all. I'll just say, getting back into this part of myself after not writing it for years has been so beneficial for my mental health. It helps me process and work through things. And writing gives me the opportunity to do that.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Well not right now, but I do know a lot about a certain mp100xOPM AU by @sodasexual and may or may not write something in that verse one day. Already drawing fanart for it so.... fanfics are likely gonna happen one day!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Uhhhh not that I….know of? (gosh I hope none have...)
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Sorta co-wrote something recently that was just for fun. Also @emeraldoodles and I def co-wrote a dragonshipping fic I think when we were in high school? Dunno if I ever posted it tho I can't remember
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Hm. Puzzleshipping is my origin story. But something about Terumob really hits me in a place that I can’t describe. I just adore them.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Hmmm I have a couple one-shots I wanna write and I may not write them all.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I love writing POV descriptions of emotions. And I like to hope I’m good at it. Blackhole is this. It’s a mess of words and descriptions that I can just chew on and I love writing it. I think my recent Terumob oneshots kinda get into that space too. I like to hope that is a strength. But yeah it seems to resonate with people so I think it’s a strength?
I also think dialogue has always come easy to me. I feel like it’s the easiest thing for me to write and I hope it is realistic.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Ah.... I am terrible with consistency. I forget things and sometimes run off down paths. I also repeat myself a lot and like to describe every movement a character makes which can bog down scenes.
I have so written myself into a corner and had to weasel my way out of it hahaha This is why I am trying to talk about my stories more to friends so I DON'T do that again.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I did this a bit but I don’t anymore. It’s just too much mental work for me.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Yugioh.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I think Black Sweatshirt, my current ageswap fic, will be my fav. It’s the most expansive writing I have done probably ever in my life. There are multiple plot lines, scenes that have already made me cry, and an ending that I just cannot wait to share with the world. I hope others enjoy it as much as I do, and I can deliver on this story.
The other one is a series called Safe Space which is a series of one-off stories touching on different emotions Shigeo has to process post-canon. Exploring the gray areas of forgiveness, confessions, grudges, anger, and love. I think I will be writing that on the side as I do other things but I love it to pieces. It means a lot to me and i hope to one day share it.
I'm always nervous to tag others so if you see this, feel free to do it!!

Twenty Questions: Fic Author Edition
tagged by @professionalfangrrl and @no-where-new-hero Thank you!
1-How many works do you have on ao3?
23. Since tumblr is such a mess I try to even post my drabbles there.
2-What's your total AO3 word count?
303,924 (literally how is it that many??)
3-What fandoms do you write for?
The Hunger Games, The Office, and The Blue Castle. Back on ff.net I also had one fic for Twilight and one for Persuasion, though these are no longer posted and I don't have plans to re-post them.
4-What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Katniss Wants Kisses
I Do
Sing You Back Home
The Only One
Better Man
5-Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
99% of the time, yes, at least on ao3. I don't always if someone replies to my reply, lol. It's a delight to respond to readers! Especially those that take time to comment.
6-What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
The angstiest ending I've written is I Do, probably. It's an AU taking place in a similar situation to Mockingjay so I'd say it's fairly equivalent in terms of death and trauma.
7-What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
The True Name, I'd say. As a Blue Castle fanfic, The True Name sticks with the canon super fairy tale ending.
8-Do you get hate on fics?
I did get one call-out comment on ao3 for a post I'd made here on tumblr, but other than that I don't remember any negative comments on ao3. I for sure got hate on ff.net all those years ago. It was rare in comparison to the positive comments, but I got PMs for I Do that I would consider hate, and some more critical comments on that one. I did get a straight-up anon hate comment directed toward me, the author, not the work, on Roses and Pearls the first time I posted it on ff.net, but the person ended up PMing me and apologizing which was big of them.
9-Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I have written explicit smut that I haven't published and "M" rated smut that is mild and I have published. And some fade-to-black. I'm trying to get more comfortable in this area though I don't think I'll ever be an author someone goes to for smut.
10-Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I am currently working on a Hungers Game/Hadestown crossover and I am breaking my creative brain to work it.
11-Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of. I haven't looked for it and no one has alerted me to any. I know some of my deleted work exists in personal libraries, but I don't care as long as those aren't shared publicly.
12-Have you ever had a fic translated?
I Do was translated into Chinese and Russian as far as I remember. I think some of the old Roses and Pearls was translated into Chinese also. My old deleted fic Sing For Me might have been translated as well? Not aware of/remember any others!
13-Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Nothing that's been published.
14-What's your all-time favorite ship?
Everlark. They are my true, ultimate OTP.
15-What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Ah a call-out! Probably Both Sides Now. I'd like for it to be finished, but you know, there are some things that just like that.
16-What are your writing strengths?
You want me to compliment myself?! Well, I like writing dialogue and a comment I often get is that I write in-character for my fics, which is something I strive to do.
17-What are your writing weaknesses?
My prose. I have to think real hard about that stuff. I feel my prose is very cliche and pedestrian, and anything that isn't comes from my blood, sweat, and tears to make it decent. The atmosphere of my writing especially suffers for this.
18-Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I wrote some descriptions of ASL for Both Sides Now as I made Lavinia deaf in that fic. I took four semesters of ASL in college so I felt comfortable with that, but other than maybe some Spanish I otherwise would only feel comfortable using someone's help with the translation.
19-First fandom you wrote for?
Wrote for would be The Hunger Games. I would "write" fanfiction in my head since I was a little kid and Sabrina and Harvey broke up on Sabrina the Teenage Witch but first actual writing was The Hunger Games. Waiting for Mockingjay to be released was a bitch and got me started.
20-Favorite fic you've ever written?
Following my heart, I have to go with Sing You Back Home. I put a lot into it, including my own tears. As an Everlark shipper its premise is very important to me--Prim lives and so Katniss and Gale don't have a falling out and it's confirmed again and again that no matter what, Everlark would have happened anyway.
Tagging: @bodyelectric77 @jenniferiawrence @katnissmellarkkk @adsosfraser @caesarflickermans @browneyeddevil and anyone else I might be forgetting!

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thank you for the tag, @leatafandom! All right, here we go!
How many works do you have on AO3? 97, as of answering this.
What's your total AO3 word count? Uhm, *checks notes* a lot. My total word count is a lot.
What Fandoms do you write for? Well, I write for Spider-Man, Deadpool, Batman, and Danny Phantom mostly.
What are your top five by kudos? Won't Be Slain Here, New Amsterdam, Tales of the Glories, Finding the Lost, and A Safe Place.
Do you respond to comments? I do, but only when I've just posted something. Whether that's another chapter or a one-shot, I wait until I've posted something to respond. (So if it takes a while for me to respond to a comment, that's why.)
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? That would have to be If Only In My Dreams. Or maybe Dance 'Till You're Dead. Eh, it's a toss up between those two.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Eh--most of them? I like to think most of my endings are happy, or at least bittersweet.
Do you get hate on fics? I haven't. Mostly my audience has been pretty nice in their comments.
Do you write smut? Pardon my uncontrollable laughter at the thought of me actually managing to write a smut scene.
Do you write crossovers? I mean, almost all my fics are crossovers of some kind. Crossover between Deadpool and Spider-Man, crossover between Danny Phantom and Batman--it would be faster to list the ones that aren't.
What's the craziest one you've written? Okay, Imma need a definition on "crazy," because these are comic book/cartoon worlds with that kind of logic and I'm honestly not sure where the "crazy meter" is.
Have you ever had a fic translated? I've had people ask if it's okay to translate my fics, and I've said "Yes" (anyone reading this, it is ALWAYS okay to translate my stuff), but I've never been linked so I don't know if it was actually translated or if the person asking bit off more than they could chew. (Happens.)
Have you ever co-written a fic before? My friend, I am a terrible collab partner. Everyone who has ever collaborated with me will tell you.
What's your all time favorite ship? Why do I have to pick just one?
What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? *sips tea*
What are your writing strengths? Small, soft scenes where characters are just bonding. (Although I've been told my angst is very well done.)
What are your writing weaknesses? Fight scenes. My fight scenes are just terrible. I avoid them like the plague. (Which is not easy in my fandoms!)
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I will not do it. I will write something along the lines of "so and so spoke Russian" or "(character) didn't understand the language being spoken," or I'll put brackets around the other language as a clue to readers that there is another language, but I only fluently speak one language and I do not trust Google Translate.
First Fandom you wrote for? The first ever fandom I wrote for was Sailor Moon, and that was on the Neopet Message boards way back when which means no one can bring them up as examples of how cringe my writing is.
Favorite fic you've written? Again, how can I pick just one?
Once again, thanks for the tag! This was a lot of fun!
No pressure tags! @deniigi, @the-stove-is-on-fire, @thekenwick, @writerwhat
