#i've been subscribed for years to a weekly newsletter about fandom/fanfiction#it's curated by two people and it has 300+ issues#just for fun by the way. anyway#usually it's structured like this: some articles that involve somehow fandom + some funny tweets/posts about fandom + fanworks + fics#the fics are usually recced by us subscribers and sometimes go by theme#for example in february there is f/f#sometimes it's a trope (for example they call for gen fic recs and the next month there is one or two issues with some of them)#and i just realised that while i started watching hockey much later#my first encounter with hockey rpf was this way#i don't read much of the recced fics i'm more interested into the meta stuff#bc some of the articles are pretty interesting#(the tetris one for example. i remember an article on a cult that developed some popular text adventure games that brought me to a#very interesting website on the history of the text adventure genre. and many more)#but like. the existence of hockey was brought up to me bc of that fic. and some years later even though i had forgotten everything about#that fic except for the fact that i once read a hockey rpf fic#i had some spare time and i saw an olympics game being broadcasted online and i thought oh! hockey! that thing. why not#and now i have even *produced* some hockey rpf. just. le vie del signore sono infinite ma quelle delle fanfiction lo sono ancor di più#personal
