i remember when i went to the west end to see les mis. it was my first show ever, i was sooo happy and excited and next to me there was a elder couple and at the end of the show i was obviously crying my eyes out and the old man looked at me and went "they were really great weren't them" in the nicest tone ever and i was like "yeah it was amazing it's like my first show and i came all the way from france to see it i'm just really happy" and his smile went even bigger and he went "oh i saw the first cast back in the 80's but this cast may be even better !" and idk that was one of the most wholesome interaction i have ever had

Centuries Overdue

Chapter 4

Excerpt from the ninth journal of Adrien Agreste, written at the Agreste mansion in Paris, France, on the twenty-fourth of June, 1810.

I think this House is full of Ghosts. Around every corner I hear Laughter; through the Walls there comes a Sob; beneath my Bed the Darkness hides, ready to pull me out and slaughter me for its Revenge…

Did I write before that we never found the Mage responsible for the Darkness, even after we defeated it? There was no Body, no Spellbook, not one single Sign of who it was who betrayed us.

At the end of the Battle there was a great Cry, a loud Wailing which still haunts my dreams. Then the Darkness gathered into itself and exploded in a great display of power and Cowardice which left us no doubt that the Mage behind it was Dead.

I have told myself that I ought to be relieved, as the other Mages are, that at last the Darkness is vanquished. For a time, I fooled myself into thinking that I was!

But as all lies ever must do, this one I told Myself crumbled, leaving more Pain in its wake than it had initially hidden.

I cannot help but feel that I have failed. There was no moment when I saw the Face of my parents’ murderer, no time when I felt Closure for bringing safety to the rest of our Community.

The Mages are safe. The Talents are not; they have died, they have died in great numbers and no-one will answer for their deaths. Death chosen by one who finally sees that their loss is imminent brings no peace to the ones they have hurt. The Mage of Darkness was a Coward who faced no punishment despite committing very many crimes. Am I wrong to feel like that Mage won, and not the group who vanquished the Darkness?

I find myself flinching at every Shadow, and there are many in my parents’ house. It has been empty of their Presence for decades, but it searches for them, it waits on them to return. And it finds Me in their place, instead. I can only imagine it to be Angry.

I never lived in this House, but I came here and claimed it as mine with an old Deed given to me by M. Bourgeois, who kept the House from falling apart while my Parents and I were gone. I look like my Mother, and a little like my Father, and yet I am nothing like them. They will never live here again, but I, a reminder of their Existence, do presently. Were I this abandoned House, I would be angered, too, by the situation. A new Darkness lives in this place. I can feel it, and I cannot blame it for existing.

But I still find myself sensing Darkness elsewhere. Along my journey to my foreign home country, I felt It ever at my back, always reaching out for my shoulder as if to tap it, yet It vanished the moment I turned around. It is in the streets of Paris, on the rooftops, in the warm restaurants, in my Home.

There is something afoot in Paris, something sinister stirring yet again. I begin to believe that the Defeat we handed the Darkness in Blå Jungfrun was not as decisive as we had hoped, that the Darkness I feel now is the same as the One we had thought destroyed.

And yet…

I know that we defeated the Darkness. I saw it with my own eyes. This Feeling of mine is nothing more than Mischief and a passing fancy.

I will not write any more on the matter.

“Repeat after me,” Alya said, and Marinette immediately nodded.

It had been one week since she somewhat-accidentally infiltrated the Mage meeting, and now she was at another one, this time as an invited guest. And possibly, a new Mage, if this test proved that she had magic powers, that was.

“It’s just one spell. One tiny illusion, and we’re not going to throw you out if it doesn’t work.”

Marinette nodded again, blinking rapidly as her anxiety whispered a dozen ways this could go wrong in her ear.

“You don’t need to worry at all.”

Another nod, this one barely visible.

“What I’m trying to say is, relax , Marinette! The worst thing that could happen is you accidentally making a fake flower a few sizes too big! Illusions never hurt anyone, remember?”

From her perch on top of the new sofa the cafè had gotten, Alix leaned forward and grinned. 

“Well, technically. They can be pretty deadly in battle. But only indirectly!” she backpedaled at Alya’s glare.

Marinette leaned her head back and groaned, “Ohh, Alya, do you really think I should do this?”

Alya folded the spellbook under her arm and reached out with the other to pat Marinette’s shoulder. “Of course, girl! There are literally no bad outcomes, and can you imagine how cool it would be if you turned out to be a Mage of Trixx, too? I’ve been hoping for this ever since I met you, even though I thought it was unrealistic at the time! Come on, Marinette. I’m not letting you leave this cafè until you at least try!”

Marinette smiled at Alya’s firm brand of encouragement. “Okay, okay! I’ll do my best,” she said, stretching out her fingers and wiggling them like she was warming up to draw a design for class. “I’m ready.”

Smiling approvingly, Alya opened the spellbook to the dog-eared page. “All right. First say, ‘mirage,’ and then picture a flower.”

“That’s it?” Marinette asked, astounded. None of Adrien’s spells looked this simple! And none of them were in French! “Let me see that.”

Standing on her tippy-toes, Marinette strained to look at the spellbook and scoured the page for the gibberish language from Adrien’s journals. There it was! But Alya wanted her to speak the spell in French anyway! How did that make sense?

“Trust me, Marinette,” Alya said, amused. “Just because a spell is recorded in a way that keeps it safe from enemy eyes doesn’t mean it has to be spoken in the same way. Sinking back onto her feet, Marinette nodded, feeling a bit stupid. “Oh. So, it’s like there’s an eternal illusion spell cast on the letters?”

“Close! It was cast on the concept of the code itself, so that anything written in it can only be decoded by someone who was willingly taught the code by a Mage or, in the past, a Talent. I’m going to teach you how to decode it, too, and then you can read as many spells as you want.”

“Even the ones in Adrien’s journals?”

Alya nodded. “Even those ones. Although from what you’ve told me, deciphering his French will be your main problem!”

Marinette laughed. “It isn’t that bad once you get used to it!” she insisted, playfully defending Adrien’s abnormal writing habits.

“Whatever you say, girl. Okay, for real this time, say mirage!”

“Mirage!”

“Great! Now close your eyes and picture the flower. Doesn’t matter what type, just add as much detail as you can. When you’re done, say, ‘I call on Trixx’s power to create this flower’ and then you’re done.”

Marinette giggled as she followed Alya’s instructions, and her friend immediately protested.

“Wha— hey, don’t laugh! My spells don’t usually rhyme!”

Marinette nodded, keeping her eyes closed, and let out a deep breath as she prepared to try the spell.

“I call on Trixx’s power to create this flower,” Marinette said after a moment’s pause, and her heart thumped loudly in her chest.

Then she cracked open her eyes and looked for the flower.

“Nothing’s there,” she said, looking up at Alya dejectedly.

“You’re right,” Alya said, looking at the space between them where the flower should have been. “You could try again or just give up if you think you did it right. Being a Mage is pretty rare these days. And there are other spells to try, to test whether you’re a Mage of a different kwami than mine!”

“I tried as hard as I could,” Marinette said, rubbing her arm. “I don’t think I messed up, except for when I almost laughed. I just don’t think I’m a Mage, Alya.”

“Not Trixx’s, anyway,” Alix said as she hopped off the couch and landed on the floor with a thud, which scared Marinette. “But,” she said as she appeared behind Alya’s shoulder, reached around her, and flipped to a different page in the book, “You might still be Fluff’s. Repeat after me.”

Alya handed the spellbook to Alix and  moved out of the way as she gave Marinette an encouraging smile.

“I promise to keep this short. Come on, just one more spell and we’re done! We only have Trixx’s and Fluff’s spells, so we can only test to see if you’re one of theirs. If not, who cares.” Alix raised one shoulder and dropped it back down.

Marinette sighed. “Okay, fine. What’s the spell?”

“Say burrow, then say the place and time you’d like to go to. So like, this same spot, five seconds from now.”

“Burrow, right here, five seconds from now?”

“Aaand you’re not one of Fluff’s Mages. Congrats!”

“That’s not— how do you know I didn’t mess up? I didn’t even say the same words as you did!”

“It doesn’t matter for that spell. Makes it pretty dangerous if you say something like outer space for your location, or if you go back before the Earth formed, but it’s the most basic spell we have.”

Marinette was briefly seized with an image of her accidentally falling into a black hole or falling into a star because she said the wrong thing by accident.

“Alya! Did you know that spell was so risky?”

“Well, no and yes. I’m not overly familiar with Alix’s spells, but all of Fluff’s magic is more immediately dangerous than Trixx’s. That’s why Fluff’s Mages get so much credit for helping defeat the Darkness with that Adrien of yours. Without their help, the battle could easily have gone in a very different direction.”

“It’s also theorized that one of us killed the Mage behind the Darkness,” Alix supplied. “And that whoever they were, the evil Mage is spiraling across the universe like a dead fish thanks to us. Maybe one day we’ll find their body,” she said, grinning evilly.

Marinette swallowed. “That’ll be fun.”

“Oh yeah, I’m so looking forward to it.”

“Uh-huh. Well, thanks for your help, Alix!” Alya took the book back from her and snapped it shut. “How are you feeling, girl? Worn out from the tests?”

Cocking her head, Marinette responded, “Not really. I’m kind of disappointed, but mostly relieved. Being anyone’s Mage doesn’t sound like the right fate for me. I’m just a normal girl with a normal life!”

Alya hummed. “Maybe you are. But you could still turn out to be a Mage, or even the first Talent in over a century! I’ll give up on tests,” she said at Marinette’s weary look, “But maybe you’d like to learn the Mages’ code, instead? Then you could really read all of Adrien’s journals.”

“My one true desire,” Marinette joked. “That does sound nice, actually! He records so many different spells, and it’s driving me nuts that I can’t read them. Like, there’s a spell for making ingredients hop into a pan and cook themselves! I need to know what it says, even if I can’t actually make the magic work.”

“Sounds like a universal spell to me,” Alya said thoughtfully. “No one’s tried one of those in forever! If it still works, any one of us Mages should be able to use it, even you, if you’re at all Gifted!”

“That would be pretty nice,” Marinette said as Alya led her over to a table and pulled out a chair.

“On to the lesson! Or, I guess it isn’t much of a lesson, exactly. I’m going to write down each of the code’s symbols next to their translation on a piece of paper for you. Once you have it, you can decode any spell you want with minimal work. And soon, you might even have the code memorized and not need the key anymore!”

“Thanks! That’s really cool, Alya,” Marinette said, watching as she quickly muttered a spell under her breath and pulled a paper from thin air. 

Once the paper appeared, Alya grabbed it, making it glow golden orange, said another spell, and then set it down on the table once it stopped glowing.

“There. Once you have the key memorized, the paper will cease to exist. And if anyone but you sees it, it will look like a menu for the cafè. Sound good?” 

Marinette nodded and Alya smiled.

“Great. Now, can I borrow a pen?”

“What, you can’t just summon one?” Marinette teased.

“I could, but that would be another complicated spell, and I just did three of those. You can’t normally touch illusions like this, or they fall apart. That’s part of why I wasn’t worried about the flower spell, because it just casts a basic illusion, nothing more. Anyway, the more complex a spell, the more tiring it is for the Mage casting it.”

“You mean, if you cast too many spells at once, you die?”

This was not good! Being a Mage sounded more dangerous with each new fact Marinette learned about them!

“No, there’s a safety built into the concept of spells. If you try too many at once, you might faint or go into a coma, but if it's a combination that would kill you, then you just can’t finish the spell. It becomes physically impossible.”

“Oh, that’s smart! Which Mage figured it out?”

“No one knows. In any event, while you don’t have to worry about me dying, I don’t feel like sleeping for twenty hours just to make up for summoning a pen.”

“That makes sense. Here,” Marinette fished around in her purse and pulled out a pink gel pen. “Will this work?”

“Perfectly. Thanks!”

Alya wrote out the code on the left side of the paper and then the translation on the right side.

“A last note: the symbols for numbers overlap with a few of the letter symbols. To show the difference, use the guide at the bottom. And that’s all there is to it!”

“Thank you so much!” 

As she took the paper from Alya, Marinette hesitated. 

“Hey, did I ever ask you what happened to Adrien? I mean, he’s dead, obviously, but when did he die? Did he ever write any other journals, aside from the lost ones? Was he happy?”

“Oh,” Alya said. “That’s… hard to answer, actually. We know more about how Adrien’s parents died than we know about how he died. It was in the catacombs, here in Paris. He told one of the Bourgeoises that he was going to visit them, illegally, I might add, and that was the last we ever heard about him. According to the Bourgeois family back when they still acknowledged our existence — although I’ve been promised a response to my email soon, at least — Adrien went a little crazy before his death.”

Marinette took a sharp breath. Adrien, crazy? Sure, she’d considered it, herself, back when she hadn’t known that magic was real, but now that she knew she could trust the stories he wrote in his journals, she didn’t think he was crazy. She thought he was very smart, in control of his thoughts and able to tell when his emotions were threatening to take over. His writing had become something of a constant in her life. What did the magic community think happened to him, that Adrien could be thought ‘crazy’?

Alya continued the story. “He thought the Darkness was coming back; that someone was killing off all the Talents; and towards the very end, he told his closest friends that the Mage of Darkness was hunting him down to get revenge. Revenge, of course, for that time when we ganged up and defeated that same Mage. We killed them, so like, what Adrien thought was happening was just impossible. It’s sad; he cared so much about keeping the Gifted community safe, and he contributed so much to our survival; but in the end, what he’d gone through for our lives cost him his own. He was a hero. But sometimes, being a hero means you don’t get a happy ending. 

“I’m sorry, Marinette,” Alya said, covering her trembling hand with a warm, firm one. “I know you got attached because of those books. But it’s in the past. Adrien Agreste got lost in the catacombs at age twenty and died before he could find the way out. That’s all we know.”

Marinette was suddenly finding it really hard to see. At some point during Alya’s tale, she’d begun to silently cry for the Mage she’d begun to feel like she knew. He’d done so much for her, and she’d never get to thank him!

She licked her lips, tasting the salt there, and took a deep, rasping breath. 

“Did you ever find his body? Is there a grave I could go visit?”

Alya shook her head and held Marinette’s hand tightly, offering the only comfort she could. “Nobody’s ever found his body. Plenty of Mages have tried, but they’ve had to turn back. The catacombs are dangerous if you go off the known trail, and it wouldn’t do us any good to find one body just to leave another one there with it. So because of that, we really can’t teleport straight to the spot, we can’t go back in time to stop it, nothing. According to Fluff, ‘everything is the way it should be’. The way it has to be. But it’s always hard to lose one of our own. I wish things were different, ‘Nette, I really do.”

Marinette’s hand shook in Alya’s as she fought off her tears. How could she be crying for a centuries-dead man? She’d known he was dead before she even asked what had happened to him! Crying about it didn’t make any sense!

“It hurts more than it should,” she whispered. “He gave up everything to protect his people, led them to victory, finally won and got to go home. And he went through all of that, just to die as soon as he got back to Paris? That’s completely unfair!”

“I know it is,” Alya said softly. “We all do. He will always have a place of honor in our histories, and a statue at Plagg’s cave. He is and always will be remembered. That’s more than most can say.”

Marinette wiped her eyes and nodded. “I guess it is,” she forced herself to say. Far more people's names are forgotten than remembered, in the grand scheme of things. Even detailed journals, like the ones Adrien had written, were lost or destroyed more often than they lived on even one century after their writer, let alone two. 

How fortunate, then, that she’d gotten to read his journals at all. Even the best Mages couldn’t say they had done that, but finding them had been a blessing for them all, and soon, the Agreste journals would be back where they belonged. Their stories would live on.

Like you said, he gets sick pretty often, so they both take turns looking after him - and you can bet anything that he gets whizzed away to either of their houses when that happens; except when it's too cold in the NE for him of course, then they make themselves home at Loui's till he gets better.

He's the youngest out of the three, so you can bet that Mass and Maine are very over-protective of him. Imagine what happened when he tried to tell them that he was in a relationship with someone lmao. This is how it probably went :

Loui: So uhh...I'm going out with- Mass: No. Loui: What?? I didn't even tell you who it was! Mass: You aren't dating anyone bud. Doesn't matter who. Loui: I- You can't do that! Maine, tell him he can't! Maine [polishing his guns for 'some' reason]: Now hold on, I need to know who this person you planned on dating was first. [cocks gun] Loui: Maine {raising an eyebrow]: Well? Loui: Never mind. Mass [sipping his coffee as always]: There we go.

Loui has self-esteem issues thanks to France, so Mass and Maine always do their best to tell him how proud they are of him or compliment him on something or the other whenever they can.

Loui is the only person for whom Mass and Maine will let go of their tough NE exteriors for.

When Mass and Maine were younger, like when Maine was still a child and Mass took care of him like his own - neither really knew what to do and because of the times and circumstances Mass didn't have much to work with [in terms of like knowing what to do] so while he did his best for sure; they both agreed to be better to Loui and treated him a lot better than either had been by their guardians growing up - not so much in Maine's case but more so for Mass who grew up under England's grip.

Basically, both of them are very good brothers to Loui and always try their best for him. One would expect Maine to resent Mass for treating Loui much better than he treats him [as in like, less stricter, less firm, you know, younger child stuff] but Maine is so full of love for Loui and just wants the best for him that he doesn't really care about that and in fact, has to stop Mass from spoiling Loui sometimes

Northeastern winters are very cold, so I like to imagine that during the time when Loui was staying with them at Maine's place, the other two would wrap him up in a ton of blankets and make a cuddle pile on either side of him to warm him up because he doesn't do well with the cold <3

Also, thanks to Papa France ruining Loui's self-esteem [/sar]. he sometimes thinks badly of himself or is afraid that someone might leave him and you know, stuff like "They won't love me anymore after this." Both Maine and Mass always assure him that they would love him no matter what, how much they care for him, and how he is none of the negative things France and Spain have said about him, and how it was more of France's loss than his that he joined the Union [Maine and Mass may or may not have also plotted for France's demise several times like good big brothers but that's neither here nor there]

found your posts on exposingcourtneylove after stumbling across the blog while researching courtney and then checking if its like, legit and jesus fuck that blog seems like an absolute mess. i was really scared at first when i saw it since they used such convincing language and preached about sources etc and accused c of such awful stuff. i know shes not like a saint and has done awful things, but making up shit (or twisting the truth) to that extent, absolute weirdo behaviour, glad they dont seem to be around anymore

no fr like implying that Kurt was date raped into having Frances or that he didn’t want her or that Krist wanted him to die or that everybody was using him/nobody cared abt him….Kurt was a victim of his MANAGEMENT. Kurt was a victim of his fame. He was not a victim of his friends/his family(unless you count the trauma his parents contributed which….I definitely do, but that doesn’t mean they killed him) like.

here’s the lowdown on Courtney from a seasoned vet; she got pregnant too young, at a bad time, when she hadn’t really solidified herself within her career and hadn’t dealt with her issues. she was hard on Kurt and pushed him to do shit he didn’t want to do, I think, and this is conjecture, she pushed him bc she was unhappy and envious about where her career was. both of them had a baby too young and before they knew if their marriage would work, and both of them committed to having a child while being heavily addicted to drugs.

my one huge complaint abt how Courtney treated Kurt is that I do think she cheated on him. he was obsessed with the concept due to his own insecurities, but multiple trusted sources (specif Cali, Frances’ ex-nanny) came forward and said that they believed that Court was cheating, or had cheated, but probably didn’t think it was cheating bc she was from the California punk circuit where it wasn’t an affair unless it was sex- if an “affair” even mattered at all. Kurt, like myself, was a romantic, small-town, shy little dude. He wanted total monogamy- this was also an issue/sticking point with Tobi Vail so I’m not just projecting lmao.

I think Courtney contributed to the situation in which he killed himself by not addressing his concerns/not respecting their relationship but she was not responsible. He was a lot more powerful than he knew and he could have gotten out of all of the difficult situations that he found himself in, though it would’ve been monumentally hard. Kurt killed himself because he did what we have all done, and what has endangered all of our lives so many times; he gave up on HIMSELF. Courtney May Not have been a good wife (again this is all speculation; she has never admitted to cheating) but she didn’t kill him. She didn’t rape him. They just got married too young after being crazily in love and found themselves in a shitty, weird situation once they had to confront adulthood. I got engaged at 16; I remember this bullshit. It happens.

1. Who or what got you into F1?

-> my family! they've been enjoying motorsports for years so naturally, i ended up falling in love too. something about forced proximity lmaoo

2. Who was the very first F1 driver you supported? Do you support them now? Have your opinions on them differed or stayed the same since then?

-> kimi raikkönen!! as a child i would get really excited to see him on tv or on track, my parents said i recognized his car and all. i supported him always, followed his years out of f1 and all, he’s 100% my favorite of all time.

3. Who's your current favourite F1 driver?

-> i have two 2023/24 favorites: lewis hamilton and oscar piastri.

lewis has been a favorite of mine from the beginning, his racecraft has always been enjoyable to me. also, he’s one of the reasons why (alongside nico and schumi) i decided to support mercedes. he’s a big big inspiration for me, all of the things he has done are wonderful so i’ve never doubted him as one of my favorites.

oscar, on the other hand, is ofc a new addition to the ‘fav f1 driver’ list but is one that doesn’t surprise me! i saw him go up categories and loveeed his driving style. i was never a diehard fan but a supporter of his career for sure. when he got to f1 (and seb left) i knew who my new favorite was gonna be! (now i am, in fact, a diehard fan)

4. Is there a driver pairing or pairings you support? What made you attracted to that pairing in the first place?

-> not a pairing but…a boy band…

they live on my head rent free, the videos (and the lore) were so funny (iconic). BUT, if i had to choose a pair, i would go for kimi and seb!! i had always wanted to see them as teammates bc of how well they got along, when it happened i was the happiest. also nico and lewis were my number ones back in the day and by consequence my biggest heartbreak.

5. Do your parents, siblings or relatives have a favourite team and/or favourite driver(s)?

-> everyone in the family likes something different. some have their special reasons but in general they vary.

dad’s favorites are mclaren, lauda, and senna, my oldest sister’s are mercedes and button, my older brother redbull and alonso, younger sister ferrari and verstappen (don’t even ask), and my mom’s favorites were ferrari, prost, schumacher, and häkkinen. <3

6. Do you have any favourite races? Are there any that stand out to you the most?

-> this is such a hard question but i’ll go for the ones i rewatch the most: united states 2018, canada 2011, suzuka 2005, abu dhabi 2010, turkey 2020, and germany 2019.

7. Do you have a favourite circuit? Can be from the past or from the current calendar.

-> hockenheim, suzuka, sepang, interlagos, istanbul, spa, silverstone. my lovers fr.

8. Have you ever been to an F1 race in real life? Feel free to tell us your experience going to one if you like.

-> i have! i went to my first gp when i was almost one year old, it was france 2003 — nevertheless, the first one i remember going to/experiencing (faintly but i do) is the 2007 brazilian gp!

i’m lucky enough to have gone to multiple over the years and i’m so grateful to my family for it. 2022 and 2023 were the first years i was able to go by myself or with my friends/colleagues to races! (i did go a couple with my family + i go with my brother everywhere but yeah) it’s been amazing!

9. Have you ever met an F1 driver in real life?

-> i’m very lucky to say yes, i have met a couple over the years and it’s been great! from the current grid i’ve met everyone but zhou and hülkenberg!!

10. Do you have a favourite F1 car? If so, what is it?

-> FW14B, MP4/4, W11, F2002, RB19 AAAAAAAHQHEUJW. i believe this question goes more towards the liveries but i love those cars, they were such a wonder and the WAY they were driven. ugh. amazing. i love rewatching their races.

11. Do you have a favourite one win wonder?

-> ok so, i would say george but since he’s still racing i’m not counting it. i’ll go with pastor maldonado. HEAR ME OUT. it was an insane day, i was ten but i still remember how crazy everyone felt there in barcelona, like what just happened. also insane to think about how it was pure pace, like yes he was lucky on saturday but sunday was his. ALSO having kimi on the podium is a huge bonus.

After a long, over 10 hour World Conference in Tokyo, Japan, multiple countries decided to go out to a karaoke bar, get the largest room they had, and order a few drinks. After the designated drivers were established, everyone decided to let loose.

America • Alfred Jones

Because he's physically 19, he's legally not allowed to drink in the US, he's not in the states though, so he gets shit faced in record speed

At first, the neon lights and loud singing were all very exciting, but as he was getting more and more drunk, everything became more disorienting

He pretty much curls up on a cushioned chair, draping his jacket over his head

That is, until you sit by him to make sure he's okay

First, he starts off talking about how the room is spinning and about how he needs a second, before he quickly gets off track and starts talking about you, removing his dark bomber jacket from his face and, somewhere along the line, setting his head in your lap

As he talks, he gets a far more pronounced southern draw to his words, so that mixed with the mumbling and slurring, it gets a bit hard to fully understand him sometimes, though you can make out the most of his words, nearly all of which happen to be compliments about you

The night is spent pretty much just like that, him mumbling things to you as you brush your fingers through his hair (he definitely ends up holding your hand at some point, commenting on the size difference)

Even though his night was mostly spent disoriented and his morning hunched over a public toilet vomiting, he still says he enjoyed it and would do it all again

England • Arthur Kirkland

At the beginning of the night, he's very high strung, constantly complaining that he should be at him under a knit blanket with a book, relaxing

He acts like it's such an inconvinence being there, but when someone reminds him that he can just leave, he's significantly quieter about it

Afterall, he's too embarrassed to admit that he's just there because you personally invited him

Interestingly enough, you're not the one who get him to loosen up, it's himself (maybe he wanted to go more than he was letting on)

Once he gets a pint in his hands, he drops all pretenses, and when it's his turn to sing again, he chooses a loud, unpolished punk song

He goes red in the face yelling the lyrics with conviction

At the end of the night, France is the one who helps you get him to one of his brother's cars

In the morning, he wakes up groggy with his head spinning at around 1 in the afternoon, his tie looped around his head like a headband, and his clothes smelling strongly of rum for whatever reason

After checking his phone, he sees one missed message, it's a picture you sent him, a selfie taken by you with him singing his heart out to some 1975 song, clothes disheveled

He'd never admit it, but he saves the picture and makes it his phone background

Germany • Ludwig Beilschmidt

Originally, he was kind of against going, wanting to go back to the hotel he was staying at for the week and starting on whatever paperwork he has received thorough the day

After some negotiation from you and Feliciano (who pretty much said "I have paperwork due from weeks ago and I'm perfectly fine"), he, begrudgingly, went along

At first, he's the type of person who skips his turns, too embarrassed to sing, instead watching and listening to everyone else go instead

He does order quite a few drinks though, and while it takes a considerable amount, he ends up getting kind of drunk

When and only when he's plastered, Feliciano is able to convince him to get up for a song, which he jokingly attributes to you

It definitely isn't a love song, but it's the thought that counts, right?

Afterwards, he gladly (and loudly) talks to people in between clumsily flirting with you

After all is said and done, Gilbert helps him to his car where he safely drives him back to their shared hotel room and get into bed

He refuses to talk about, or even acknowledge, what had happened the previous night, even though there is more than enough evidence of it

His older brother alone had dozens of pictures and videos of him either singing or sitting around with a grin on his face, mid conversation

Tells himself that he'll be much more careful next time he goes out after a conference with other countries

Japan

He chose a relatively large room to house everyone for a few hours with dual speakers, two wireless microphones, a large monitor, and gorgeous neon mood lighting

Because he's the one who brought up the idea and got everyone to go along, he sang first

He really only chooses Japanese songs throughout the night because they feel the most natural to sing

Even as he starts to drink, he doesn't really deviate from that unless someone wants to do a duet with him (Alfred and Feliciano mainly)

Even with the alcohol, he doesn't become more of an extrovert by any means, but his face is flushed lightly, and he has a constant smile

His words are peppered with small laughs and his singing becomes messy and out of tune, and for whatever reason, he gets the habit of singing the line below the one he's supposed to actually sing

When he's not poorly preforming with his whole heart, he spends time conversing with you, asking about how you're doing, how your day was, and whatever else he can think of to hear your voice (it's a wonder he can considering the noise in the room)

After the little party, he tells you to have a goodnight and that he's excited to talk to you tomorrow before one of his siblings drag him off to their car

In the morning, he texts you, apologizing for his behavior (even though there was no reason to) as he looks through the pictures and videos he took (he's the country who took the most)

North Italy

He was one of the original people on board when Japan tossed out the karaoke idea, he was convinced that it would be a lot of fun

And would you look at that, he was right and everyone had an absolute blast

He was the second person up to sing

Whenever it's his turn to grab the mic, he always sways to the beat of whatever he's singing

As the night progresses and he gets more drunk, he manages to convince quite a few countries to sing with him, you being one of them (how were you supposed to say no?)

It was supposed to be a soft love ballet, but with how drunk the two of you were becoming, it turned into a jumbled mess of wrong lyrics and out of tune notes

Not that either of you would have it any other way

He spends a lot of his night laying the compliments on thick with you, very overtly flirting

At some point he got a bit physically clingy, holding onto your waist (or, if you were more comfortable with it, just your arm)

Spain is the one to pry him away from you since he was already there to pick up Lovino

When Feli checks his phone in the morning, his camera roll is full of goofy pictures and videos, quite a few of the two of you especially (he took the third most pictures, just being beat by Prussia)

He prints some of the best ones out and hangs them up

Russia

Since the very moment he got invited to join, he was excited

When he stepped into the private karaoke room, he was even more excited seeing you already sitting at one of the couches, so he opted to sit down beside you and start a conversation

As people are getting up to sing, he still didn't really leave your side all that much, raveling in your presence instead

As the alcohol starts flowing, even when some of the other countries are getting quite drunk, he barely even gets tipsy, just enough to make him a bit giggly (he can drink almost any other country under the table after all)

As for the singing itself, he didn't do it much, preferring to listen to others

He did do a couple of duets though, at least one with you and one with France

They weren't the best quality since he was giggling through them, but it didn't really matter, he was having the time of his life

As people are taking group photos, he happily hops into them when he's asked, though he doesn't take any of his own

At the end of the night, he makes sure to get back to his hotel safe and calls you when he does, wishing you a good night

He tells his sisters all about it the next morning, and Ukraine doesn't bother to inform him that he already did, as she was the one to pick him up last night

I am curious about something and you're the one I trust, so. I've read about how Ferrari has worked on Carlos' car to accommodate him. Did this somehow impact Charles' car, making it slower or harder to drive? The updates they give the cars in a season are set before the season starts or they are figured out as the season progresses and problems start to happen? Or is it all about setups? I think each driver has their own preferred setups, right, or do both drivers work with the same setup? I know the TD fucked things up for them but I don't think it's only about that. Maybe you could shed a bit of light on this, I am slightly confused. Thank you!

Upgrades are a little bit complicated. So this is a long post

The first thing we need to establish is that the engineers are never going to put an upgrade on a car if it doesn't make the car faster. The main priority is always to make the car faster. But they can tweak things to change the balance of the car. They don't always do it on purpose but they can to a certain extent.

They didn't make the entire upgrade to help Carlos but they did tweak them to make Carlos more comfortable. How much and what exactly they did we don't know (the floor shifting the balance to more understeer sounds like that tho). Mekies talked about it and Carlos did so too in some interviews. (If you want me to I can find them again but I keep forgetting which outlet it was)

The second thing is that the teams can theoretically do two completely different things on each of their cars. They don't because of money and time constraints but theoretically they could.

Imo you are right that it's not only about the TD and AMuS agrees. The issues started with the big floor upgrade in France. They wanted to make the car faster by getting more downforce from the floor which would allow them to run smaller wings which means less drag. And they changed the shape of their floor (I can find the pictures tomorrow if you want to see the actual change) and that changed the balance (and stability) of the car.

The new floor generates more downforce but specifically in the rear of the car and that means more understeer because the rear has more grip.

And because it makes the car faster they run that floor on both cars. (There has been another minor floor upgrade since)

That doesn't make the car slower or harder to drive as such.

The drivers have different preferences when it comes to the balance of the car. In general all cars are a bit understeery and everything else would be unsafe but some drivers like understeer a lot and others prefer a bit more oversteer.

All the cars have their own general characteristics. The Ferrari had a stronger front end at the start of the season so it was a little bit more oversteery just based on it's general design. The drivers then work with their engineers to get the right setup for them. But there is only so much you can do with the setup because you have limited options in general and you need to keep the general speed and tyre performance in mind as well. So if the car itself if really understeery you can't make it oversteery just with the setup and vice versa as well.

The drivers often run similar setups in order to get the best out of the car but they can also run completely different setups compared to their teammate if they feel like it.

When it comes to Ferrari I'm pretty sure that Charles always has a lot more front wing than Carlos because Charles likes more grip at the front.

The "new" F1-75 with the new floor became more understeery than it used to be. Carlos is a driver that prefers understeer which is also why he didn't feel comfortable in the car at the start of the season. Charles on the other hand prefers a bit more oversteer so he's not liked the car much lately. But with the new floor they had to push the setup a bit more to make Charles more comfortable and that's made his car a bit twitchy at times and that can be more complicated to deal with. But that comes from compensating for the general balance shift.

So it didn't make the car harder to drive but just made it behave in a way that Charles doesn't like all that much. And there is only so much they can correct with the setup and still have a fast and driveable car. He is still very fast! But he doesn't feel 100% comfortable.

On the upgrade timeline:

This always varies from team to team and their car design tbh.

But in general some upgrades are set before the season starts but most of them are figured out while the season progresses.

This season for example Ferrari brought no upgrades from first testing to I think it was Saudi. While other teams brought their first upgrades already to Bahrain testing.

But this season was also special because it was the first season of completely new regs.

A lot of the upgrades are figured out "during" the season because they only really know where exactly their car is lacking in comparison to the others. If it doesn't have a fundamental problem like Williams with a car that generates like no downforce.

So for example the France floor was a reaction to the RB straight line speed. The team realised they had to work on that or they'll be sitting ducks and so they did.

They probably figured out that that was an issue in like Bahrain in the first race but it takes a while to develop and test the upgrade and then to also produce it.

A new rear wing like the one that Ferrari brought to Saudi is a pre-planned upgrade because that's just track specific and they know what they'll need beforehand and can develop that before the have the actual comparison to the others.

Or weight loss upgrades can also be planned ahead of time as soon as they know how heavy their cars are.

They have rough upgrade timelines but what exactly the upgrade is isn't planned out before the season starts.

Ferrari didn't start the season with their upgrades planned to make Carlos more comfortable. That was something that happened after he struggled.

Because ideally you want your two drivers to be close because it helps A the team result and B it gives more strategic flexibility.

hes gonna be so embarrassed but hes gonna try to act like hes completely unaffected by everything that is going on

i feel like he knows what french kissing is and has definitely thought about french kisses with you but he would never bring it up because it embarrassing for him

he might just randomly try it and place you in a complete state of shock, like y’all are just making out and— whoops would you look at that somehow you two are now french kissing! wonder how that happened... 

if you ask him he will flat out deny you the first time around because he is embarrassed, but keep trying!! after a few attempts he’s gonna claim to be annoyed but it’s actually because he wants to

“Hey Katuski, you know what we should do—”

Bakugou slams the textbook that laid on his lap shut, a sound reverberating through the library the two had gone two, which earned him a strict glare from the librarian seated at the front desk. His eyes narrowed as they look to Y/N, “if you say French kissing, I swear I will break up with you right now.”

Despite his harsh words, Y/N can see the pink blush that dusts his cheeks as they lean forward on their arm, tilting their head at him innocently as they reply, “actually, I was thinking we could go see a movie later.” Their words only worsen the blush on Bakugou’s cheeks, causing him to snap his head away in an attempt to salvage some of his reputation, “but that works too.” 

“Shut up you damn nerd.” The boy grumbles, brows furrowing as he leans back in his seat, looking away as he says, “if it’ll get you to stop asking then I guess we can try it.” Y/N is about to open their mouth to reply but Bakugou quickly adds, “only once though! Damn nerd...”

A grin finds its way onto Y/N’s face and they nod slowly, “great.”

“I hate you.”

honestly i feel like he would lowkey be bad at it the first time around and bakugou is the type of person where if he tries something and isn’t good at it immediately he either avoids this activity entirely or tirelessly works to improve his skill

luckily for you this happens to be a skill that bakugou wants to improve, alot because for some reason you wanted to try this and if he’s not good at it then whats the point

regardless the first time around is like a solid 6.75/10 sorry bakugou oops, you tried, but i feel like he’s already a really like aggressive and like harsh kisser so this is just gonna make things a mess

he can be soft sometimes tho i swear

i feel like he would get good at it after some ~practice~ but even then its a rare occurrence to french kiss with bakugou, its really intimate and he saves it for special occasions or when hes bored lol

OH YOU ARE GOING TO KILL HIM WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GO AND DO THIS like apologize, apologize rn for the stress you are about to cause him

if you try to initiate a french kiss with izuku here, you NEED to tell him ahead of time or else things will go south very very fast. he’s going to panic because this is new and he does not understand what is happened oh my-

give him a heads up whenever you want to try something new, so when you pull this while kissing him he’s going to pull away like what a r e you d o i n g 

once you tell him he’s gonna be like let’s do this tomorrow, and then will spend the rest of the day RESEARCHING how to french kiss properly, like he’s on wikihow and everything this boy wants to treat you right and is going to make sure you enjoy it

which is when when y’all finally french kiss he is going to be good at it okay, he’ll learn every strategy possible and then he will be a PRO like you’re probably going to be shocked for a hot minute because wait when did he have the time to get good at this—

you’re definitely his first partner and he had no experience prior to you but he trained himself because going into any anything blind and without a plan places him in a state of distress

this was a PLANNED EVENT it was like a date except without all the date stuff just french kissing, like he texts you “hey lets try that thing you wanted to try...” all shy and stuff like he literally took five minutes to actually send the text, and you are trying to figure out what that thing is because deku do you mean like the coffee shop ?? what ??

you make him specify and he nearly dies but its fine its fine, when he finally gets his point across you’re like okay! cool!

overall its a pretty nice experience, i feel like he would be really gentle with you per usual but it was also probably really awkward like homeboy fr sat you down on the bed and just stared at you with bright red cheeks for like

a really hot minute

Y/N brow raised as they stared at Izuku, who’s eyes had pierced into their head since they’d sat down. Oddly enough, Y/N found his meticulous planning of this to just make the situation more awkward, it had done nothing to relieve the burning sensation in their cheeks. But Y/N had a feeling that only one of them could flustered about this or else everything would fall apart rather quickly. It had also been their idea in the first place so, there was that factor too.

“Are you alright, Izuku—”

“FINE. I—I’m fine, I mean.” He cleared his throat as he sat across from them, his cheeks a bright red color as Y/N tilted their head at his antics.

A small laugh escaped them, “If you don’t want to do this Izuku, we don’t have to.” He’d always been easily flustered, so Y/N couldn’t say his reaction came as a shock, but he’d agreed to it nonetheless just yesterday.

This seemed to bring the boy back to reality as he shook his head, “no... I want to.” He straightened in his seat, looking away from Y/N as he tried to collect himself.

A grin spread across Y/N’s face as they leaned closer to Izuku, “fantastic.” Their words only served to fluster Izuku further, though Y/N could feel their cheeks warming as well. 

“Right.”

french kissing will not be a regular occurrence, izuku feels embarrassed whenever it happens, he gets shy, all around a very rare thing for him that will only occur if you initiate it, but PLEASE let him know ahead of time, he needs to mentally prepare himself

okay but like shouto probably discovers it online entirely by accident or like hears kaminari talking about it and decides he should educate himself because hes fluent in french and knows alot about the culture of france because of all the tutors his father hired so why doesn’t he know what this elusive french kissing his? 

shouto is also fluent in kissing he honestly just really enjoys kissing you, he doesn’t know why but its probably because hes touch starved and just likes intimacy like that but he never really knew how much he liked physical touch until he actually experience it [in a positive way] and also you are SOFT :D

regardless shouto is the one who brings it up and honestly you are gonna be shocked because how did this clueless bb find out about that??? sir??? who is teaching you these things?

Y/N couldn’t help the shock that flooded them as they stared at their boyfriend, Shouto Todoroki, who sat with his legs crossed before them on the bed as he replied, “French kissing.” The boy in question repeated, tilting his head at them as he watched her reaction.

Y/N shook their head in an attempt to clear their thoughts as they looked back up at him, meeting his eyes, “who taught you about that?” In the past, Y/N had been forced to explain... certain subjects to Shouto because of things he’d overheard in conversations or seen online. Sometimes it was entirely innocent and other times, well it wasn’t. This time around, it seemed Shouto had took it upon himself to learn, rather than asking Y/N. 

“I don’t see how that’s relevant.” Come his response, brows furrowing at her question, “however, if its not something you’re interested in then—”

“I didn’t say that!” And Y/N couldn’t help how their cheeks warmed at how quickly they cut him off, hands coming to their face in embarrassment.

he doesn’t do any research in fact, he might not even bring it up, next time he sees you in a private space, he’s just gonna start kissing you and you’re probably gonna be like aight bet thats chill this is normal

honestly i feel like he would be ridiculously good at french kissing for no reason, i don’t know why, i have no explanation, he’s just good at it

of all the boys he is the least embarrassed he has no shame, its just natural curiosity right? whatever happens happens. it is literally so annoying how UNFAZED HE IS

probably really liked it because hes a touchy kinda guy, so this will become a more frequent thing when you two are in private, he just enjoys it

I saw it when it happened, so I know it happened, about two minutes into the interview, when Armie talks about Oliver’s short shorts. The Ellen DeGeneres Show decided to cut scenes showing their casual intimacy and incredibly close bond from the full interview, for inexplicable reasons. But I assure you, it DID happen. And you’re right, technically speaking. Those aren’t Armie’s knees that Timmy is squeezing.
