THE HOT MEDIEVAL & FANTASY MEN MELEE
FIRST ROUND: 68th Tilt
Rodrigo Borgia, The Borgias (2011-2013) VS. Lord Tywin Lannister, Game of Thrones (2011-2019)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda
Rodrigo Borgia, The Borgias (2011-2013) Portrayed by: Jeremy Irons Defeated Opponents: - Jacques le Gris [Adam Driver], The Last Duel (2021)
“Look, what is sexier than a man who purrs sexily and knows canon law? Okay, so maybe that's just me. But that smooth, seductive voice full of terrible, brilliant ideas...! And the way he runs his hands up his lover's calves, the hunger with which he looks at her, the way he uses his religious authority (and knowledge of canon law) to make an argument for why they should totally have sex despite the fact that she's on her period? Hot. The way he says (while caressing a statue suggestively) that perhaps they could worship as the ancients did -- with joy? Hot. The way he welcomes an invading army clad only in a penitent's robe? Ohhhhhh this over-dramatic OTT bastard, I love him so much.”
Lord Tywin Lannister, Game of Thrones (2011-2019) Portrayed by: Charles Dance Defeated Opponents: - King Henry VIII [Ray Winstone], Henry VIII (2003)
“Well, to quote my best friend: “he just makes my inner peasant want to kneel.” He commands every room he’s in through sheer force of will, is one of very few people in Westeros who makes a good ruler (which is different than a good man), and Charles Dance is of the generation of English actors who have Those Cheekbones”

For Rodrigo Borgia:

For Tywin Lannister:

this is a Princes in the Tower and Edward of Lancaster stan account btw
#I do not want to hear one word against Edward of Lancaster#not a single one#least of all if you're a yorkist stan who thinks that edmund of rutland's death in battle at 17 by his father's enemies is a tragedy#while simultaneously thinking that edward of lancaster's death in battle at the same age by HIS father's enemies is a cause of celebration#deeply embarrassing and unserious behaviour#and where to even start with how the majority of self-declared 'Yorkists' treat the Princes in the Tower 🤡#I've truly never seen anything like it#first they try to vilify two children (including a literal 9-year-old) for being 'Woodvilles'#which in their minds is synonymous to greed/duplicity/ambition/unworthiness aka how they view the Princes' mother#then they try to deny that their vaunted Richard III murdered them even though they're perfectly willing to believe John murdered Arthur#then they try to argue that Richard III was just 'a man of his times' and downplay his actions even though his usurpation and deposition#of his pre-teen nephews absolutely broke all parameters of politically and personally acceptable behaviour in medieval England#then they try to argue that ACTUALLY the Princes don't matter and we shouldn't spend so much time talking about them#(says the person who spends all their time trying to convince people on the internet that Richard didn't kill them)#then they try to argue that finding out what happened to the Princes shouldn't affect our reading of Richard III and won't change how we#view his reign#even though it absolutely affected how contemporaries viewed him and was what provoked opposition to his rule#like. what is happening here. where is this one-sided beef against a long-dead 12-year-old and 9-year-old coming from?#are you okay?

Sir Lilia Vanrouge through the ages
... Well, more like Lilia Vanrouge in medieval era fashion lmao
Although if I remember correctly, first one is a bit more regency era, start of the 1800s 🤔 the rest of them ARE medieval though, down to the hair and everything ahahaha. These doodles were really fun, I still love that Lilia has an undercut in canon! He probably has had one for sooooo long

A Tale from the Decameron
Artist: John William Waterhouse (English, 1849–1917)
Title: The Decameron
Date: 1916
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Collection: Lady Lever Art Gallery, The National Museums, Liverpool
Description
These scenes of medieval storytelling, painted in 1916 and 1917, distil many of the qualities of Waterhouse’s work. Their fanciful subject, colour and attention to detail echo the work of the Pre-Raphaelites. Their composition, elegance and figures remind us of works by the Victorian classicists.
In The Decameron we see most of the members of the group sitting, listening intently to the latest tale. In The Enchanted Garden, Waterhouse illustrates one tale specifically. This is the fifth story from the tenth day. It concerns Dianora, wife of Gilberto, who is pursued by Ansaldo, whose fame for feats of arms and courtesy was spread far and wide. Dianora is exasperated by Ansaldo’s insistence so she devises what she believes is an impossible task in order that he will prove his love. If he does complete the task she will be his lover. Dianora asks Ansaldo to produce a May garden, full of blooms, in January. Assisted by a magician, Ansaldo achieves this seemingly impossible task leaving Dianora distraught. In an anxious state, she explains to her husband the bargain she has made and he, conscious of that Ansaldo has fulfilled his part of the bargain advises her that the agreement must be kept. On hearing of Dianora’s honesty, Ansaldo decides to release her from the obligation. Waterhouse has chosen the great moment of discovery and realisation by Dianora for this painting.

working on book 3 today 👍it's the longest one and for my rewrite it needs to be cut down a lot in some areas and expanded in others, the current ebook version (first draft) is exactly 420 A4 pages long. i'm trying to work on the rewrite now parallel to the editing of the second book so that they gel together much better.
pic unrelated but it's cute lol

THE HOT MEDIEVAL & FANTASY MEN MELEE
QUALIFYING ROUND: 91st Tilt
Lord Ravenhurst, The Court Jester (1955) VS. “The Player”, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (1990)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda
Lord Ravenhurst, The Court Jester (1955) Portrayed by: Basil Rathbone
"You know how much of a joy it is to watch the one human person in a story full of muppets? That’s Ravenhurst. A delightfully camp villain trying desperately to win his political intrigue movie not realizing until far too late it’s been infiltrated by (literal) clowns. Also the way he’s so down bad for Hawkins before realizing Hawkins is not a dashing suave assassin who will help him get what he wants? -chef’s kiss- I could watch their sword fight all damn day. Ravenhurst is just so delightfully evil in comparison to Hawkins’s bumbling heroics that it makes both of them an absolute treat to watch. Have you not seen Court Jester? Go watch it. Get it? Got it. Good."
“The Player”, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (1990) Portrayed by: Richard Dreyfuss
“A total DILF.”

“DILF RIGHTS!!!!! look at his nose. look at his vile expression. he was 60 somethin’ in this movie, and I’d still go down on him any day”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(+ Bonus Hubert Hawkins)
“Every time I watch this beloved movie, I find myself thinking: "Good god, look at Basil Rathbone's CALVES." Also, from a meta standpoint, I think it is extremely sexy of a man to play a role that is essentially spoofing the roles he was famous for 20 years earlier (and to still have calves like that.)”

Isekai idea where a childless divorced engineer woman is isekai’d into the body of another woman who was pregnant with the child of an ice dragon (drunk hookup single mom style). Upon finding out that she is A. Pregnant, B. In a fantasy medieval world before electricity, and C. Flat broke, she gets to work on trying to advance her surroundings even the slightest bit so that herself and her future child (will probably become children as the series goes on and she adopts more children) don’t have to live in medieval hell. Her advancements quickly attract the attention and sponsorship (and Romance) of the Duke of the West, whose lands are not prosperous or doing particularly well until our protagonist comes along with science and technology and flips that fortune on its head. (Btw gentle slow burn for the relationship between the Duke and our girl) anyway, she’s appointed head engineer in his cabinet and the rapid growth and flourishing lands attract the attention of the Emperor who takes himself and his eldest son and daughter to see what’s happening. They’re stunned utterly by the innovation that is happening, but the son is much more interested in the lady engineer, and decides to pursue her romantically (romantic conflict!). Also the Ice dragon baby daddy comes back in when he hears about his one night stand having his son and being owed medieval child support.
