The anthology manga were created by a total of 42 different illustrators (including bonus illustrations), none of whom were the game's creator Toboso Yana, though she did draw the covers!

We do not know how much oversight was involved in the content and there are parts in the stories that conflict with the content of the game, so it might be best to consider Twst's alternative media (the anthology manga / serialized manga / novels) as canon to themselves individually but probably not to the game, or to each other ^^

They are maybe similar to Square-Enix-branded fanart, like the art gallery books!

Twisted Entertainment News ～April Fools 2024～

The Aniplex Youtube Channel dropped a parody news segment for April Fools Day, which had Kazuki Furuta (Kalim) and Kaname Futaba (Jamil) as "commentators." A full official MMD clip of Absolutely Beautiful was shown, and afterwards, Furuta and Futaba "taught" the viewers back home how to do the dance. I don't normally do transcriptions of videos, but this one made me laugh with enjoyment that I wanted to make sure that everyone else could enjoy it too, especially since I know this video is region-locked. I've highlighted Furuta and Futaba's names with the colors for Kalim and Jamil's that I usually use for their vignettes. I've also added small commentary on their movements and expressions, which is not something I normally have to do for vignettes. I also only translated the "news" portion of the video and left out the final part, which was them returning to reality and talking about the monitors in the in-game shop that could be bought for the Guest Room. I hope this transcription is enjoyable for everyone else, too! Please check it out under the cut!

It’s time for Twisted Entertainment News, where we report on all the hottest entertainment topics. I have with me today two very well-known commentators who have appeared on so many of the variety talk shows as of late: Kazuki Furuta-san and Kaname Futaba-san.

Commentator Kazuki Furuta: Good evening, I’m Kazuki Furuta. I’m beyond honored to have been asked to come on this show as a commentator. Thank you very much for inviting me.

Commentator Kaname Futaba: Good evening, I’m Kaname Futaba. You know, I really dig Twisted Entertainment News.

Furuta: I do hear you say that often.

Futaba: Yeah. I watch it every week, and even record it.

Furuta: Indeed.

Futaba: I’m really hoping we’ll have a ton of great things to talk about. Thanks for having me.

Yasuda: Well, let’s get right into today’s entertainment news. First, Magical Motors is finally venturing into space. Second, are the rumors that the Mysterious Amusement Park is closing true!? And finally, the Absolute Dance is the current breakout trend. Of these three topics, the Absolute Dance is probably the most eye-catching, so, Furuta-san, Futaba-san, have you heard of this dance before?

Furuta: Very much so. It is very popular even in my circles, so not a day goes by that I do not come across it.

Futaba: I’ve known about it for some time now, too. So, I guess it feels like the times have finally caught up.

Furuta: You’re so right.

Futaba: Yeah.

Yasuda: Now then, we’ve prepared a video to show what exactly this dance is all about. Please take a look.

Yasuda: …Right. The students performed this song and dance at the school’s cultural festival and this garnered a lot of hype.

Furuta: [jumping in] Hype!

Yasuda: …Right. I do believe that this is a rather complicated dance that cannot be mastered just from watching it once. So, today I hoped to have our commentators, Furuta-san and Futaba-san, to show those of you watching this show at home how to perform it so that everyone can dance along.

Futaba: I see.

Furuta: Of course.

Yasuda: Furuta-san, I’ve heard that you may be a commentator, but you are also a very good dancer.

Furuta: [sounding like he wants to protest politely but is also smug at the praise] Ah, well― that is― by myself, I― [background music cuts] Yes, I am!

Yasuda: Right, thank you. And so, I was hoping we could receive an instructional demonstration from you on how this dance is performed.

Furuta: [politely but smugly trying to refute] Ah, that― Heh― Of course.

Yasuda: Wonderful, we would be so grateful.

Furuta: Of course! Now, I’ve chosen 4 specific points of the song to dance to in order to help anyone master the Absolute Dance. Those of you watching, please feel free to dance along!

Furuta: Now for the first dance point: I’ll start with the opening dance for the song.

Futaba: Just hold on a sec. That’s so amazing?! I’m so shocked. Like, especially the third part of the second-eighths was really good.

Furuta: The third part of the second-eighths, you mean this movement, yes? [shows off the specific dance move again]

Futaba: It’s fantastic! And this dance looks like it moves your entire body, so I bet it’s really good for your health, too.

Furuta: Oh yes, especially that movement. It uses the whole shoulder joint so I believe it could be good for relieving any stiffness in the shoulder.

Futaba: This is spectacular.

Furuta: Thank you very much.

Futaba: Man…

Furuta: Now then, I think it’s time to move onto the second part.

Futaba: [quietly, to himself] That was shocking.

Furuta: The second dance point:

Futaba: [quietly, to himself] I’m so shocked.

Furuta: Jamil’s― [turns to address Futaba] Oh, was it shocking?

Futaba: Yeah, totally shocking. Sorry.

Furuta: I’m so glad to hear that. [turns back to the camera] I'll now dance the part with Jamil’s rap.

Futaba: [quietly, to himself] Really shocking.

[Music begins to lead into Jamil's rap, Furuta prepares himself to start dancing]

Futaba: [quietly, to himself] Man, I’m still reeling from that shocker.

[Furuta starts by dancing Ace/Deuce's movements while Futaba stares in awe]

Futaba: No way...

[Furuta continues by dancing Kalim/Rook's movements while Futaba continues watching him in awe]

Futaba: This part… I mean, your dance was just astounding, don’t get me wrong. But… this voice rapping just now… I really like this voice!

Furuta: [turns to address Futaba] It’s a very familiar voice, isn’t it?

Futaba: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Furuta: [turns back to the camera] Almost like it feels really close to me, that’s right.

Futaba: It’s just so smooth.

Furuta: Smoothly, yes, the lyrics just come so smoothly.

Futaba: So smoothly.

Furuta: Yes, it just enters my mind so smoothly.

Futaba: It really gets me hyped.

Furuta: Just from the first sound, it just― [Furuta starts dancing] I can just flow with the music.

Futaba: Yeah, this’ll just get your body dancing on its own. Amazing.

Furuta: [turns to address Futaba] Would you like to dance up here together?

Futaba: [background music cuts] Ah, no, I’m good.

Furuta: [turns back to the camera] It seems he’s good, so I’ll move on to the third dancing point: The solo dances by each student during the song’s interlude. And for this― [a little out of breath] for this…

Futaba: Uh-huh.

Furuta: Well, for this part, I will be dancing Kalim’s portion.

Futaba: You’re breathing a bit hard, you good?

Furuta: [turns to address Futaba] Oh, I’m fine.

Furuta: [turns back to the camera] I’m not tired whatsoever. I am very used to dancing, after all.

The bodies of the four nuisances littered the sky, falling down farther that he could see. Jamil let out a happy cry as he turned around to face his new kingdom, the students clapping at his great feat of strength as he finally let his voice ring through the halls of the Scarabia dorm. 

Power. 

Oh he could feel all of this power coursing through his veins! Black, inky blood that moved slowly around his body so that he could almost feel the magic reach from the top of his head down to the tip of his toes. 

“Haha...hahaha...HAHAHAHAHAHA!” 

A small sniffle broke his concentration as the snakes around him hissed at the interruption of their master’s joy. Yet a warm hand calmed them down, one of them wrapping around his wrist as Jamil turned to look at you. 

Knees on the ground, you gripped the banister to the window with as much force as you could while trying to hold back the tears. To fall from such a long distance, with no form of protection whatsoever. Kamil, Azul, Jade, Floyd and Grimm...all of them would most likely be--

“Oh pet, why do you look so sad?” 

You jumped when you felt a hand wrap around your wrist, forcing you to let go of the cool marble and instead look into the eyes of the monster who had just killed all of your friends. 

“Jamil...how could y--” 

“How could I? How could I, a sorcerer such as myself, waste away as the slave of a stupid, arrogant and self-serving buffoon? Yes, pet, tell me!”

Jamil tugged you up harshly, your muscles screaming in pain as you were forced to stand up. 

“How COULD I?!” 

His face was mere inches from yours, the accumulation of dark magic practically overflowing from his eyes and mouth as Jami licked his lips and snapped his fingers, the snake on his right immediately wrapping around your neck and turning into a highly decorative collar while its tail slimmed out to turn into a golden leash that he tugged forward. 

You nearly trip as you walk behind Jamil, the other barking out orders for a banquet to be started immediately. He grinned when you stopped on your tracks and refused to move before tugging on the leash as the collar around your neck got tighter. 

“You are still angry about what happened?” he turns around to face you, his hand grasping your chin as he stared at the pretty collar around your neck, “Why do you weep for fools, pet? It nothing but a waste of tears in my opinion.” 

Jamil smiles and wipes away some stray tears, looking at the face of the only person who had caught his interest. What weren’t you getting about this situation? You, who were so sweet and naive to go along with his beat. Anybody in their right mind wouldn’t look at a stranger in their eyes when first meeting them, but every time you two spoke you always held his gaze. 

Something he rarely got back home. 

You who smiled at him, you who talked with him, you who were oh so polite with him and even after learning about his status of a servant made sure that your attitude remained the same. 

There was never any pity in your eyes, you viewed him just as you would view Kamil. 

Which was probably the only thing that he really despised about you. 

“Jamil.” 

How cute. Your voice was quiet and meek, the perfect voice for a obedient pet. 

“Please don’t do this. We need to get help. We need to get you some help! I promise I won’t tell the Headmaster about this a--and I’m sure Kamil will forgive you as well! So please--please don’t do this.” 

He met your eyes for a good second before laughing, tugging the leash in his hand upwards so that he could lick up the fresh tears that were now falling down your cheeks. 

You weren’t even begging for yourself, bless your soul. 

“You’re so cute...” he pulled away as he tilted his head to take a better look at the desperation in your face, “Begging like anything could get you out of this.”

Hiiii, Urias Here.. Well, i know all of us get super excited after listening to Jamil’s voice so I’m going to introduce you to TWiN PARADOX. Yeah one of this twin’s is the voice of our precious Jamil, i think is the left in the picture(The picture is flipped so the beauty marks that they have may be the other side) Well, there is almost no information about this twins and almost no one knows them. So, Their names are Futaba Kaname (Left) and Futaba Yuu (Right) Yuu is the big brother and Kaname is the little brother.Kaname is Jamil’s voice actor.I don’t know almost anything about them, but i have heard some of their songs and they are amazing, i know not all the taste in music are the same, but this turns to be pretty good, and also their voices are so similiar that you can hear Jamil in both of them XD. I’m finally up to date with twisted wonderland, just in time for part 3 of chapter 4. I like reading the story of the games I play, but since this is all japanese and my japanese isn’t perfect, I take too long to play each chapter (since I want to understand everything!)

Anyway, I really really like Jamil’s voice. Not only Futaba Kaname is really handsome, he also has an incredible, intoxicating voice, I could listen to him all day. I want his SSR card now more than before.

And, even though I don’t have Azul, thanks to the story I could see his duo magic with Riddle ♥️

Name a ship that most represents your type of ship.- Kurosaki and Teru (Dengeki Daisy)/Kazuma and Fumino (Faster than a Kiss)... I honestly can’t choose just one. I’m such a sucker for age difference, but these two are my ultimate favorites with that trope *sobs*

Name a ship that reminds you of a personal relationship.- Kou and Futaba from Ao Haru Ride. Their relationship is so believable and natural and beautiful and OMG. It just feels like a relationship you could actually find real people having: complicated, fumbling, but *real*.

Name your favorite moment ever from a ship. - Okay, so I knew someone was going to ask this and I honestly can’t choose just one. I have too many otps, so I have to go with a top five list. Ready? Here we go!  1) The scene in Faster than a Kiss where Kazuma panics when Teppei goes missing and then he can’t get a hold of Fumino’s phone and he’s terrified he’s lost both of them. Then when he finds them in a church, he and Fumino have an impromptu wedding ceremony complete with vows and then he kisses her forehead and promises to bring her back for a real ceremony someday???? *sobs* So perfect.  2) In Ao Haru Ride when Futaba pushes Kou down the hill and tells him it’s okay to live his life even after his mother died, and then he cries and lets years worth of pain out and hugs her hard and OMG I can’t even deal.  3) In Frozen when Kristoff brings Anna back to the castle and they both can’t stop looking at each other as the gates close and then he turns away and you can see just how much pain it’s causing him to leave her... YES. Good stuff.  4) In Full Metal Panic! where Kaname threatens to kill herself if her captors won’t let her talk to Sousuke. She promises to push him away as long as she can hear his voice again. She calls him on the communicator and basically tells him she doesn’t want him following her anymore, to just give up and move on... and it destroys him. He just sits there thinking that there is no meaning to a world without her, and then she snaps and begs him to come and rescue her no matter the sacrifices he has to make (see also: how many people he has to kill or hurt to do so). Then they finally admit that they love each other and she makes him promise that when they finally see each other again, he’ll kiss her. THIS SCENE. I will never be over this scene. EVER.  5) The under the bridge scene from Zootopia where Judy lays her heart bare and apologizes for all the ways she hurt Nick and he seems to not forgive her before teasing her and then hugging her. Gets me every time. *heart eyes*

I wanted to know if it was ever mentioned anywhere that Jade ate his siblings.. My sister keeps saying he said that he ate everyone but kept Floyd bc he looked like he'd be funny or something. I've never seen this mentioned before and I wanna prove her wrong

“Jade ate his siblings” is one of many unproven fan theories, based on a number of comments in the game that might be hints about something that may or may not have happened!

The theory goes that Jade and Floyd hatched from eggs (moray eels can lay up to 10,000 eggs at once in real life, though in-game is unspecified) at approximately the same time.

Jade then selected Floyd as the one sibling he would spare, and ate the rest. (The reason why he chose Floyd is technically not specified.)

This is based on many things that can be found throughout the game, such as this cryptic comment from Jade: “I’m glad I chose you as my partner when we were but little elvers.”

Floyd responds, “Not sure what that smile’s for, but I’m glad we survived together, too,” which may insinuate that if something did happen, Floyd might not know what it was.

Jade also says, “there are five in my family at present.” One interpretation of this line is that their family used to be larger, and might get even smaller in the future, but five is where they are at now. 

The more optimistic side of EN fandom will sometimes theorize that maybe their mother is pregnant and there will actually be a new addition to the family soon rather than a loss, but we have been given a surprising amount of information about how common it is for people to go missing in the Coral Sea, with otherwise zero hints that they will soon be getting between 1 and 10,000 new siblings.

The evidence used for the “hatched from eggs” part of the theory comes from Floyd insisting that neither he nor Jade are any older or younger than the other.

This might seem vague in English, where which twin of two was technically born first might not come up very often, but in Japanese one twin being born first would mean that one of them would refer to the other as something like “nii-san,” like Ortho does with Idia, or "aniki," as Ace does with his brother and Leona does with Falena.

(For a real-world example I recommend referring to the Twitter account of Jamil’s voice actor, Futaba Kaname. He has (弟) in his username for “little brother,” while his identical twin Yuu has (兄) in his username for “older brother.”)

But neither Jade nor Floyd refer to one another as “nii-san," "aniki" or anything but their first names.

While “bro” or “brother” will sometimes be added to their dialogue on EN neither twin has ever actually called the other “brother” in their original dialogue, because the Japanese language makes you specify older or younger (an age-neutral word for “brother” doesn’t really exist) and, as Floyd says outright in the game, neither he nor Jade are any older or younger than the other.

This makes sense if they both hatched from eggs at approximately the same time, rather than being born like mammals.

Another point that is often referenced in the “Jade and Floyd: Dead Siblings” topic is how, on the subject of ghosts they have seen, both twins mention seeing people on Halloween that looked strikingly like each other, only to realize that they weren’t. 

Floyd: “I once thought I saw Jade in three different places at once.”

The theory goes that they saw the ghosts of their dead siblings.

This may or may not be considered evidence of how the twins might have had other siblings at one point and something happened to them, but even if so, it could have just been a Finding-Nemo style incident with a barracuda or something similar.

So why do people point to Jade as the perpetrator?

(Maybe irrelevant, but Rook’s nickname for Jade in the original game is, “Monsieur Premeditated Crime.”)

Jade is a heavy eater, on par with Sebek (another thing they have in common is they have both threatened to eat Grim), saying that people are often surprised by how much he eats.

Jade says this is because his “fuel efficiency is lacking” (low blood pressure?).

Floyd is aware of this and seems to go to extra lengths to make sure Jade eats properly, encouraging him to relax and fetching food for him during Halloween.

The original meaning of Jade’s unique magic is, “the tooth that takes out a bite,” so this is definitely a theme with him.

And his official, disliked food? Eel.

To the original question: no, there is not a definitive line in the game that states “Jade ate his siblings” that we can point to as proof that it actually, canonically happened.

But we do have many cryptic lines that might possibly be insinuating that a infamously hungry Jade chose Floyd as the one sibling he would spare and ate the rest, Floyd may not know it happened, and Jade might be actively choosing not to tell him 🐬

Thank you all for voting! Some results are exactly what I expected but quite a few were confusing to me. Sometimes I wish I knew why people voted the way they did. Also, just for the record, I did randomize these. None of these pairings were planned.

Now for something important I'm going to say before things get too bad.

I've seen a few heated replies that are getting too close to aggressive for my taste. Guys, this is for fun. There are no real world consequences to the result of this poll bracket. If I believe someone is getting too aggressive or insulting towards other voters (or me), I will block. I finally got around to uploading Kaname's version for you all! I saw them live again yesterday and last weekend for the first time in a LONG time so all my feels for them are back and in full power!

But, while Yuu's version was open for everyone, I'm going to be a little 'stricter' for Kaname's. So the file is password locked so you need to DM/Message me for the password.
