And what if suddenly half of my brain was occupied with a Swap AU, how funny would that be

A little blurb about my ideas for this under the cut:

So essentially Philip and Caleb grew up in one of those small, very religious towns that still happen to hold the beliefs about witches (I guess it would be in modern day but like one of those towns that feel like ur back in the 1800s). Then Caleb and Philip accidentally travel to the boiling isles, Caleb meets his witch wife etc. Instead of killing Caleb, Philip gets over his prejudice (kinda) because he sees how happy she makes him.

Then something happens and Caleb and his wife end up in the human realm with Philip/Belos stuck in the demon realm. Caleb works tirelessly to try and find a way back, him and his wife have Hunter, and 10 years later they move out of the town bc a. It still sucks, and b. Caleb has given up on finding a way back to the demon realm. Idk maybe I’ll have Caleb die during his work; either way, Hunter grows up not knowing much (or at all) abt magic or the demon realm bc no one likes to talk about it (his mom knows how it makes Caleb sad, so she also avoids the subject. She is also very weary about being outed as a witch bc she lives in that town).

Then something happens and Caleb and his wife end up in the human realm with Philip/Belos stuck in the demon realm. In the demon realm, Philip studies magic to try and survive, pretty much the same as canon. Except for I imagine him going through one of the time pools that sends him like 100-200 years in the past and he gets stuck there. He does the carving glyphs into his skin, finding the collector, etc, so he’s still a gooey monster by the time Hunter finds him.

Now onto the present, similar to Luz, Hunter finds and goes through the portal door and adventures around before he gets attacked by Belos for trespassing. Hunter recognizes him bc of old family pics, but Belos doesn’t. Anyways, their bonding revolves around finding a way back (portal door belongs to Ed’s, but they don’t know that) and Hunter being super interested in magic bc no one at home talks about it.

writing (and reading) smut is pretty new for me bc i'm on the sex-repulsed side of aro/ace but SOMETIMES !!!fictional!!! romance ETC compels me enough that i'm like Hm Lemme try that. I like to expand out of my comfort zones every now and then, so it's usually a turbulent but interesting exercise 🤣

MOST of the "spicy" stuff I write, I would consider pretty tame tbh? (or not very good 💀) I'm sorta vague on purpose, so if you come in expecting some delicious smut or something I am so sorry that that is not the part that interests me 💀💀

1) my roommate springing two new surprise kittens on us with no warning at all (good surprise but still Surprising)

2) discovered a black lump on bagel’s ass and immediately thought he had cancer

3) took him to the vet but apparently the doctor doesn’t work wednesdays (so why are u….. Open)

4) said eh that’s fine he’ll live another day

5) spent my whole night crying bc of Sadness & said out loud “it’s ok tomorrow will be better”

IMMEDIATELY THE NEXT DAY

6) found out the black lump burst open and is now a gooey pink hole into bagel’s intestines

7) calling the vet in tears to ask if i can drop him off bc it’s an emergency and i can’t miss class and no one else can take him

8) receptionist lady telling me “well that doesn’t SOUND like an emergency🙄”

9) me crying the whole way to the vet bc i was expecting to have to put bagel down

10) more rudeness at the vet & me feeling Stupid bc i’ve never been there before & i don’t know what i’m doing & i’m in my pjs

11) got a call right before class that they did surgery and bagel will be ok but his treatment is 400 dollars

12) texting my sister, relieved, bc she promised to spot me half of the money

13) i rush to class & all throughout class my sister is texting me FURIOUS bc she doesn’t want to give me the money anymore and she wants me to know that i’m irresponsible and lazy bc i don’t work more and that i need to get another job

14) me crying in the back row of class for 50 mins straight while texting my sister bc i don’t have the money to pick bagel up from the vet and now she hates me

15) rush out of class immediately after it’s over, knock into like 3 ppl, super embarrassed and horrified bc i was crying the entire time and it’s only the second day (and also i missed everything the teacher was talking abt)

16) sister spots me the money very reluctantly! so i pick bagel up and he has an extremely gross open butt wound that i have to clean twice a day for the next several weeks🥳

18) my dad texts me to tell me he got married today. text says “married in hawaii.” and nothing else😭

mm, for me i just refuse to put a hard date on when martin's crush began (or when it turned from friendship into romantic feelings) and fandom's like, 'he was super duper mushy in love when jon Hated him' is. consistently Bad to me, so i'll skew later.

here's the thing wrt martin putting in effort into proving himself to ppl (even for non-romantic relationships); i read that less as anything related to fawning or trying to get ppl to like him than i do as him being extremely petty and competitive? i mean yeah ok projecting, but he doesn't go break into vittery's apartment in s1 bcos he wants jon to like him, he goes bcos jon's been ragging on his work and told him all his research into the spiders was totally off-based with supernatural stuff. to me, he doesn't want to prove that he's a good employee that jon can like, he just wants to prove jon wrong.

and that's not very depression-lonely-withdrawal, but also very much in line with how i read him as angry and kind of bad at people, which is partly non-supernatural depression, and partly the various other neurodivergences i like to read him with, and partly just that i like him petty! he's exhausted and exasperated and annoyed a lot, he just hides it beneath politeness and faux-obedience bcos that's probably what got his mum off his back. i don't like reading him as super sad and genuinely trying to please, bcos in spite of him wanting everyone to get along, he's also like. so inclined to fight ppl. he'll fight jon. he'll fight tim. he'll fight michael. he'll fight daisy. he'll pour ppl a cup of tea and try to get on, but if someone annoys him or legit upsets him he'll get passive-aggressive or just flat out aggressive, even going back to s1 (his aggression with the worms, his passive-aggression with jon; we don't hear directly from him before the worms, but he's snippy with jon abt being too demanding a boss, and spending an afteroon talking to old ladies abt jigsaws while on an impossible assignment is... so petty, it's precisely what i would do to a shitty boss)

i think i wasn't the clearest abt 'no not both', bcos i don't think that sadness is inimical to the kind of petty passive-aggressiveness i attribute to martin. it's perfectly possible for ppl to be very sad and very angry at the same time (i think martin is both very sad and very angry at the same time, altho not the way fandom tends to think). what i meant in my second version of the post was that 'he's petty and also he cries into his pillow abt how he's unlovable, Why Not Both' is inimical to my intentions in the post, bcos my intentions in the post were to say no, that particular trope is not really in character for martin, it's something i do not enjoy, and i would like to suggest this alternate reading based on canon evidence

i think we are going to have to disagree on our readings of just how eager to please martin is, but that doesn't mean i don't think he has soft & sad bits inside. i think he is very sad, altho for different reasons than ppl write about. i think he is less people-pleasing (on the inside) than ppl think, but he tries to keep the peace and he's often not directly confrontational (until later in s4/s5, when he starts accepting that side of himself more openly, but like, it's always there, underneath, just hiding under good manners). i don't think his anger and pettiness cancel out sadness. i think that how he is portrayed in canon does go absolutely against him crying abt him being unlovable, but that's not bcos it's incompatible with his anger, that's just bcos it's out of character for him. the more petty & angry reading i provided was meant more as an alternative for ppl who were clinging to that other trope.

look i just. 'martin cries himself to sleep at night bcos he doesn't think anyone will ever love him'? no. 'martin deliberately left his ex-bf's fridge open to spoil all of his food when they broke up, and still his ex sometimes calls him'? yes.

its kinda hard to remember.. i think when im cozy i regress even smaller? so cozy feelings are more fuzzy in my memory, uh but i think probably when um papa cuddles me before bed. like i remember just feeling rlly safe and comfy and warm when he rocks me in his lap and yea i always sleep nice when he does that - 💜

Ohh I have to say when I bottlefeed my baby! It's so lovely and calm, I get to hold him to my chest and rock him and he makes sweet little noises and his eyes fall shut 🥺 Plus it just makes me remember how tiny and vulnerable he is and makes me so proud to be his papa, I feel all gooey! - 🐶

Baby Vee when we play lap games gets super giggly, it never fails to make me sooo happy! Swaying him in time to a nursery rhyme or playing a tickle game or just bouncing him - it always ends with giggles! - 🐶

OH MY GOSH!!! That's so adorable, I didn't know he wanted to try a crib!!! painful exes: give me two people who were childhood sweethearts, utterly in love, and will always be in love but for some reason they had to break up. they’ve never gotten over each other. they always bump into each other. a lot of flashbacks, and headcanoning! (for this plot, i would prefer to play the female. age range: 24-40 tbh any age!)

a semi toxic pair: they swear they hate each other, they always bicker and fight and can’t stand each other, but they always end up sleeping together somehow. they never kiss. until one day, they do, and they’re both like ?? oops what Are We i thought i hated you. (for this plot, i’d maybe prefer to play the male! age range: 22-35)

honeymoon phase: give me two dorks who are super in love and wholesome and can’t keep their hands off each other (i’ll play any role, any age!)

veronica mars/ logan echolls: listen if you’ve watched veronica mars and know the early seasons especially... come hit me up. 

famous n nonfamous: give me a boy who had a crush on this small hometown girl, and now he’s famous and everyones lusting after him but his heart is still owned by her, and shes the only one not super heart-eyes and impressed with his famous status, and he only loves her more and is always finding ways to ‘just so happen’ to be in the smalltown to ‘bump into her’,  even when he’s shooting halfway across the world. (for this plot, i’ll play any role, age range: 22-35)

if he’s not acting like an octopus, he’s hogging the duvet. tori doesn’t mind a whole bunch, since she runs warm (thanks apollo), but sometimes, on really cold nights (heating is so expensive and if they can keep it off, they will), it’s v annoying so she’ll forcefully pull the duvet back, which forces luke to turn into an octopus

tori probably starts them a little more often, if only bc luke often jumps in front of her when they’re in danger just out instinct and before tori can jump in front of him, which annoys her

not just bc she can take care of herself, but also bc luke does so with reckless abandon and she doesn’t like that he could potentially be wounded/hurt/killed bc he was protecting her

who suggests that they buy a pet

tori, but only bc they were passing a pet shop one day and she noticed luke’s eyes lingering on one of the kittens inside that had taken a liking to luke

it was december, so v cold. and they were on their way back to their apt when they passed a pet shop

and as they’re passing, one of the kittens leaps up and paws at the window, following the couple as they continue pass

this catches luke’s attention, and he finds the little kitten’s persistence endearing as they walk past

the kitten’s also meowing, but obvi they can’t hear it. luke can see it tho bc its little mouth keeps moving

even tho luke insists it’s okay if they don’t get the kitten, tori drags him inside anyway and they go to the pen, and the little kitten is waiting for them on the other side

it’s a calico and it’s not until they’re inside that they notice this little kitten’s eye is injured on its right side (bc of glare from the window outside)

luke is only able to stare, too in shock to really move or think, but tori picks up the mewling ball of fluff and coos at it. then she holds it out for luke to take. and he’s hesitant at first, bc its so small and fragile, but tori gently coaxes it into his arms. and he rests it on his shoulder and it falls asleep, the precious bby

luke panics at that, though, bc he doesn’t know what to do lol. tori is not help, she just laughs and smiles at him

one of the workers goes over to them then and says that injured animals are always tough to sell, so tori, of course, immediately says they’ll buy this kitten

anyway, her official name is jiji, but her nickname is kitty bc that’s what luke referred to her as when they first brought her home and it kinda stuck.

what couple traditions they have

idk if this qualifies as a “tradition” per se, but, since we’re in the everyone lives!au, this is also the au where luke surprises tori with a song for her b-day one yr

and so after that their “i love you” turns into, “did i mention?”

after long days/after a monster attack while they’re out trying to be normal, and after they’ve cleaned up and are relaxing in bed, they’ll softly sing duets together (since luke can sing now lol; also from linked post). but tori’s still trying to get luke to sing a duet with her in public, to no avail so far

i’ve mentioned before that they like to shower together (again it’s not ever sexual), it’s more meditative and still v much intimate

again, not exactly a tradition, but sometimes if tori’s having trouble sleeping/it’s a particularly bad night regarding nightmares, luke will softly sing to her (most of the time, “did i mention” bc he knows how happy it makes her)

valentines day is a BIG thing. and it feels so cliche for me to say, but tori LOVES that holiday and luke would do anything for that woman. so he’ll do as much cheesy, romantic stuff as he can and that he’s gleaned from movies (and like actually romantic stuff, not the White™ version of romance where the man stalks/forces the woman’s hand)

i mean most of the big holidays–valentines, halloween, christmas and new yrs are p big things in the williams-castellan household

most of the time, they spend it alone together (lol if that makes sense) like the week or day before, they’ll go out with friends and what family they have left lmao i made myself sad ;_; but on the day of, they’ll spend it together in the comfort of their apt bc going out is too overwhelming for both of them

every sunday, they’ll bake together and every monday, they’ll make a meal together. it helps them enjoy the end of their weekend and the beginning of a new work-week more, being able to spend that time together and looking forward to it at the end of those dreaded mondays

adult cartoons like bob’s burgers, rick & morty, and futurama

episodic comedies like parks & rec, the office, b99, and scrubs

they’ll sometimes chance it with crime procedurals and the like, but if the show gets too heavy, they’ll stop and not really go back bc they’ve dealt with enough

same goes for sci-fi/fantasy shows (tho they chance these even less bc they deal with enough mythology shit just being demigods)

they’ll sometimes hang out with like percy and annabeth (and maybe the other couples from the seven JASON IS STILL ALIVE I SAID EVERYONE LIVES!AU + nico and will, etc.), but it’s more in a mentor kind of way, since luke and tori are so much older than all of them. they’re good to go to for advice abt relationships, and also life in general

i like to think they are able to make friends with couples their age through places like the waystation that are hidden throughout the mortal world, but they’re wary abt new ppl bc they’ve had so many bad experiences, just in general (not necessarily with ppl)

so if you do manage to become a friend and they ask you to go on a double date with them with your partner, it’s ride or die for them (and it better be mutual)

how they spend time together as a couple

quiet nights in, mundane date nights out–anything a normal couple would do bc they’ve been through enough already, they don’t need more excitement/trauma

that, of course, doesn’t stop monsters from attacking them when they go out. but after a battle, they’ll go home, clean up, and cuddle on the bed with lofi music playing in the background and scented candles lit around the room

tori did regarding their private confirmation of being in a relationship since she’s demi, and she’d told luke so. he didn’t want to push her into anything she was uncomfortable with, esp if her feelings stayed platonic/friendly, so he let her take the reins

i literally cannot stop thinking about cuddling with the boy on saturday night like it was just the???? nicest thing???? like i’ve made out with boys here and there but nothing was as innocent and nice as that was and it just happened out of nowhere and organically and i feel super ick and gooey because iM NOT THIS SOFT WHEN DID I TURN SOFT

ok so heres the story just so i can rehash the details with myself bc i wanna relive it but...... it started with me and his fwb (????? i really don’t know at this point) were sitting on our coworkers couch (btw i really like her but i won’t get into that side of the story because i’ll feel bad and it’s way too complicated) and then he came and sat on both of our laps bc he was done with playing poker. he just starts chatting and then people start getting up to leave and she’s talking about how she should call a cab and yeah. he says that she can come stay at his house if she wanted (;////) but she wanted to take a cab. so she left and me and boy were sitting together on the couch just watching b99 while people were playing poker, as you do. 

so then, he gets up to go get a drink or something, idk. i was really tired so i wanted to lie down on the couch so i did, and i was pretty much taking up the whole space. anyways, he comes back and i start to move my feet but he’s like ‘you can put your feet on my lap if you want’, so i like rest my legs on his lap. slowly (or not, i can’t remember, but i added this adverb for dramatic effect ANYWAYS) his hand kind of rested on the outside of my knee and like occasionally he would like squeeze and rub and stuff and feed (? idk hold my drink i dont know the word thats the drinking equivalent to feed what is english) me sangria, and like we shared a sangria idk thats not important. anyways, around like 4:30am we both started getting tired so, without really getting up, he just moved his torso so he was like resting his head on my stomach, and his hands moved to like the outside of my upper thigh (borderline butt territory). i was kind of like awkwardly resting my hand on my boob because im me and i don’t know what to do with my hands or myself in any sort of situation anywhere. so he takes my awkward hand and kind of loops it around his head so it’s resting on his upper back area, so im pretty much like holding him. 

so we stay like that for a little bit until i decide to take it further a bit (yeah, /me/, shocking right) so i take my other hand thats not on his back and started playing with his hair. when i start doing that, the hand thats resting on my thigh kind of moved up and he started like stroking (???) and lightly squeezing and idk it just felt so nice i don’t know how to describe it. i was this really weird mixture of hyper relaxed but also freaking tf out and i was so worried that he would be able to hear my heartbeat because it my heart rate deadass rested at panic attack levels because i was like !!! oh my god !!! 

anyways this lasts for a little bit and we both like fall asleep and stuff and by the time we wake up its close to 5am and im pretty sure i heard a coworker take a picture. he sit up again, but he doesn’t move his hand, like it’s still in the same place on my upper thigh and i kind of like hold his forearm and he just keeps rubbing my thigh!!!! i can’t get over that it was just so soft and nice !!!!!! and then it was time to leave at like 5 (which btw is a solid two hours after the first round of people left just for reference) and he got up and i was really sad about it. 

so the guy giving us the ride home wasn’t drinking (ofc) but he had more people than would fit in his car (don’t tell the police) so somebody was gonna have to sit in someones lap. i wasn’t about to make myself sound like i wanted to sit in his lap (even though i did. like really bad) so i was like “i guess i’ll sit in the front because i’m getting dropped off first???” and nobody really said anything so i was like :( ok. so i get there and it just so happens that another coworker has to sit in Boy’s lap and other coworker was not happy abt it so i turned around and was like “do u want to sit up front? idc because i’m getting out first” but he was like nah. Boy was like talking about how other coworker was heavy and he was like “man can i have her (me) in my lap instead” and i was like :))))) ok yes. 

so anyways i get home and he immediately messages me, which he like never did before so i kinda thought like ???? are things changing now bc this happened. idk so we’ve kinda been talking (flirting???) but i don’t know if i’m reading too much into it.

anyways, im not gonna go into specifics but i saw him again yesterday and it felt different??? idk if it was because i feel different about things now or if things are actually legitimately different. 

anyways i caught feelings and it sucks and also i cant wait to see him on saturday so i hate myself
