hi, do you know of a fic where post-ws, bucky comes in from the cold and finds steve, & they start a relationship. but towards the end it's revealed that (the big plot twist), bucky doesn't actually feel anything for steve and is only in the relationship because he thinks he has to be like steve's bucky from before the war/feels as though he has to play the role of bucky barnes and thinks that's what that entails/or similar icr exactly. steve, who thought bucky meant it, is really hurt. thankyou

4. Name three authors that were influential to your work and tell why:

Since I write fic I guess I’ll have to name authors that have influenced me enough to want to write for their worlds, which sadly makes me admit that Stephenie Meyer was a major influence, not bc I thought she was an amazing writer, but bc I was convinced she’d written the wrong couple ending up together in her Twilight Books. So, I went ahead and created my own offshoot of her world where Bella and Jasper fall in love and I got to kill Edward bc that guy was a big bag of dicks.

JK Rowling is another author that’s influenced me, I suppose. I enjoyed her books a lot (but haven’t read The Cursed Child bc not many good things have been said abt it and I want to stay inside my HP bubble where the books ended in 2007 and the movies in 2011). But despite loving her books, I was never happy that Harry ended up with Ginny in the end. That ship never made sense and felt a bit shoehorned in bc JK decided it was endgame at the start of the series ala Ross/Rachel (another ship I don’t like). Early on I shipped Harry with Hermione, but then settled on Luna and so, again, I started writing bc I felt an author got a ship wrong. 

And I know I’ve mentioned this before, but another author, a fic author, had a major influence on my current writing style. Where I used to write angst, hurt/comfort I realized I much preferred to write fluff, and it was only after reading dollsome’s 30 Rock fics that I realized fic could be funny, romantic, and end w/o anyone dying.

5. How long have you written:

Since I can remember. It used to be retellings of fairytales written on notebook paper and stapled together. That then moved on to trying to write my own fiction (which I was never very good at, bc world building isn’t my strength hence the reason I write fic). I took up blogging for a while in the late aughts, but after LiveJournal died, I moved onto fic and that’s mostly what I write now.

26. Story you’re most proud of: 

I’m the type of author that thinks all my fics are terrible after I leave them behind. Sure, they’re great while I’m in the moment writing them, but if I go back and try to read a finished work I find every flaw there is to find. There’s only one fic that that hasn’t happened with. My Rachel/Joey fic from 2013. It’s only 8,000 words, but I wrote exactly what I set out to do, find a realistic way for Rachel and Joey to end up together, and sometimes I still sneak on over and read the last chapter if I need a pick me up.

30. Hardest part of writing

Looking at a blank google doc when starting a new chapter. It honestly takes me 3 or 4 days of looking at it to even get 500 words down. Once I reach the 1k mark I can usually hash out 2k more words in a day or two, but it’s that initial start that makes me want to cry and pull my hair out.

49. Writing advice

If you’re writing fic, try and find a happy medium of something you want to write that will also find an audience (even if it’s only a tiny one). Writing for yourself is good advice, but only if you’re a strong person who doesn’t care what other’s think (something I am not). Let me tell you, putting your hard work on the internet only to be ignored is a huge letdown. But then again, writing something just bc you have an audience eventually becomes tiresome. You start writing for them and not out of a love for your story. I’ve been in both places before, and the happiest place has always been finding a medium between these two. If that means scrapping that idea for a fic you have in a fandom that hasn’t been active since 2005, then so be it. If that means letting go of a hugely successful story in a popular fandom bc your heart is not in it, then do it. 

Write what you want, but makes sure it’s something that will find some traction out there on the interwebs.
