done with the smosh membership. :)
i cancelled my membership a couple of weeks ago and here's why.
i was a smosh royalty member. as some of you know it comes with access to the official smosh discord server. i was never very active on it. in the ~5 months that i used it i only checked it a handful of times. i had not even opened the discord app since december 2023.
last month, i decided to open the app. it said that i was not a member of any servers and with the help of a couple of friends who were still members, we figured out that i was banned. (and just today i also found out that i had been banned from the youtube livechat, which i couldn't have known sooner bc i missed the past few livestreams.) one of them reached out to a well-known mod -- a popular smosh fan artist here on tumblr, iykyk -- and asked on my behalf why i was banned. the mod refused to say why, but it didn't matter. it was either i said something inflammatory to someone (doubt it, bc i was barely on it), or because i had been leaking members-only content which, to be fair to them, i have. and i'm 99% sure it was the latter.
now... i don't know for sure who snitched or how they managed to trace it back to my discord profile and youtube account -- but i have a theory. the platform i'm most active on is smosh twitter, where i did occasionally post bts photos, screenshots of bts videos and livestreams, and little clips here and there and included those clips in edits. but even so, i highly doubt it was from my twitter account that they traced back my discord and youtube. i don't have my discord handle anywhere on my twitter and vice versa. any mention or hints of my youtube account have long been buried bc i tweet 50 million times a day.
i'm not saying no one has snitched on me for my twitter account, i'm sure at least a few people have bc my account had 1.3k followers and it was public. what i'm saying is that it couldn't have been my twitter that linked back to my discord and yt. i have a hunch that it's this tumblr post with this ianthony edit of mine, which includes multiple clips of bts videos, that got me into trouble. when i posted it, my tumblr url was different to the one i have now, and my old url was similar to my discord handle and youtube display name, and i'm positive that's how they traced it back to me.
i'm not going to make outright accusations and name them specifically bc i have no concrete proof. but i have a strong hunch that it's a specific smosh fan artist here on tumblr who happens to be a discord mod that did this sleuthing and banned me. and the only thing i have to go off of is that they weirdly have me blocked here on tumblr despite me never interacting with them in any way that could be construed as harassment. all i ever did was dm them and ask if i could see ian's halo fanfics from back in the day. that's it.
and you know what? i can't be too mad about being banned. again, i rarely used discord, so it's not like i lost something that i used regularly, and i did break a rule. it's not like they banned me for no reason. i get it.
but the part that upsets, or i guess, confuses me is that after i had been banned from the discord and the livechat, i was still technically a member. i was still being charged $20 AUD/month and i still had access to all their bts content. banning me from the discord and livechat wouldn't have even stopped me from leaking their content. so it's like... what was the point? it definitely wasn't loss prevention. i can't help but feel that this was more of a social punishment than a legal one. i think if they hit me with a copyright notice i'd be less offended, bc then i'd get the message that this is just business to them and they can't let people steal. but banning someone from the community, so to speak, but not from paying for and accessing your content, seems like such a petty, mean girl, "you can't sit with us" kind of punishment? does this make sense? especially bc it's up to the mods' discretion which people to ban AND not every single person who has leaked content is even being punished.
idk. i know i'm in the wrong in a technical sense, but cracking hard on stupid shit like leaking photos and clips -- not even full videos being uploaded somewhere else -- makes me feel like they're turning fans against each other. those who can pay vs those who can't pay. rule breakers vs snitches. no wonder there aren't a lot of ianthony stans nowadays -- most of the content we want to discuss is behind a paywall now.
i just think there should be a difference between major leaks, like uploading entire videos for everyone to see for free, and fans still being able to make fan content out of bts stuff. bc why is including one-second clips in a 30-second edit enough to get someone banned? no one is watching my edit in lieu of signing up for a membership. it's literally free marketing to entice people to sign up but i guess they don't want that.
so... here i am now. i still love smosh, i still love ian and anthony, but i don't have to further support them as a business anymore beyond just watching their videos. banning me from engaging with the community but not from paying for their content and doing free publicity and marketing for them made it clear to me they did not see a human being behind the fan account. i was just a source of revenue to them.
goodbye, smosh membership. i'm still a fan, but i guess i wasn't that important.

dream merch discord recap (june 12, 2021) - disclaimer: i may have missed some things or mistakenly heard other things, apologies in advanced for that!
he has not played the new minecraft update
dream “knows” the date george is coming to florida but he’s not saying it :p
dream doesn’t have anyone muted on twitter
dream guesses his favorite disney princess is belle
sapnap has seen dream’s feet before
he’s not actually connor’s dad in the dsmp lore
dreamnap do not have nicknames for each other D:
dream likes olives but especially black olives
his mother makes homemade pickles
he doesn’t have a phone case
he has dropped his phone from his ear onto concrete in the parking lot before and the screen didn’t crack
dream has six fingers /j
he pours cereal first not milk when making cereal
dream calls sapnap nick most of the time :D
what’s your dream car? “idk the one that gets me to point A to point B consistently”
he finally fixed his sleep schedule, woke up at 8 am today
mrbeast owes dream a tesla because he never sent dream the audio file
dream is a very analytical person - he thinks with numbers/data
creativity is one his strengths that he is the most proud of
3 to 4 years ago, dream used to say george looks like shawn mendes a lot, now he doesn’t resemble him as much
patches is currently sleeping <3
swimming is very relaxing to dream, he swam the other day!
many houses in florida have pools than other places, even the cheapest houses in orlando have pools
dream has merchendise defects (misprints on merch) + milestone merch and he wants to give them away to those who live in orlando (probably to anyone but the event will be held in orlando) though he doesn’t want it to be a covid super-spreader thing so once you pick up your item you gotta dip. just all an idea though
he has been donating them to charity too though :)
dream has likely read Heroes of Olympus before a long time ago
he says that he’ll do a give away of his childhood books with his signature on it
he was obsessed with the series (Percy Jackson)
he really liked the Alex Rider series
has all of Maximum Ride books, 39 clues books
has read the legend series, the twilight series, and the maze runner
has all/read of the harry potter books, divergent, eragon
he would read all the time, to the point he would read more than one book a day (a book worm he says)
dream had a goal to read 200 books in a year and he wind up reading about 150
he doesn’t want to call it a library but- growing up he had something like that that had 600 or 700 or more books in it (privileged he admits it)
he has not read a book since he started youtube (about 2 years)
dream has a folder called Book that has his own writing in it
word count: 76000 words for one of his stories
another one he wrote 5 chapters of
he sounds very excited/embarrassed talking about the stories he wrote he’s so endearing
the very first paragraph of one of his stories (he was young when he wrote this) “What exactly is darkness? is it the lack of light? is it a pit of nothingness? ... your mind is full of darkness...” then he couldn’t continue.
the story is about a kid who wakes up in a cell and has no idea where he is with other people who are in the same situation
dream has a world building document
he has a sequel to the first book he has ever written
he found a query letter that he wrote because he wanted to get his book published- he finds it very funny
he’s calling himself a nerd but idk it’s kind of endearing
“as you can tell i’ve always been incredibly cool and not a nerd at all! ever.”
he cringes at his own old videos
dream took a lot of inspiration from witches and wizards by james patterson for writing
the story is written in a way where the main character is actually writing the story so you’re getting input from the main character during it. there’s a lot of sarcasm in it and it’s making dream laugh
very first person narrator
he feels like it’d be very cool if he were to publish his works he wrote when he was 16 on amazon or something but he probably never would because he’d have to read through all of it and it’s just embarrassing for him
dream used to video call sapnap fairly frequently- even before youtube
he strictly remembers, a very long time (at least 7 to 9 years) ago he was at his old childhood house he video called sapnap. he was wearing a (technically) suit and he remembers specifically that he was giving sap a tour...
“snazzy in a suit”
he had no reason to put on the suit (wow time is a flat circle huh)
drista is pretty close to sapnap’s height, she’s like 5′7″ but sap is still taller than her
dream filmed the whole thing when he and sapnap met but... it’s... gone because when he was clipping that one clip for twitter... it edited the whole video
he’s sure when they meet up with george they will film that too :D
DREAM IS PRETTY SURE THAT HE AND GEORGE WILL MEET THIS YEAR-- HE SAYS A 95% CERTAINTITY the five percent is like either restrictions or visa issues
dream does not play any instruments but he had a guitar hanging on his wall when he was younger...
dream is convinced they’re the same height but also sapnap is probably taller??
they had george compare his height to a door frame and dreamnap were googling for any doorframes to find any possible chance that george is taller than 5′8″ ... nothing came up
there’s a chance they’re both lying about being 5′8″
sap and george will literally just show up in stilts to prove they’re taller than each other /j
dream without shoes is between 6′2″ and 6′3″ with shoes he’s 6′3.5″
dream is talking about awesamdude’s fake height arc again LOL
dreamnap are very private people so they don’t bother each other but george doesn’t care and would just barge into their rooms and start bothering them- they were all joking about that over a voice call
he will visit europe
he thinks that greece would be a cool place to visit because sapnap’s family is from there :) so it’ll be like a nice “treat” to go back with sap :D
dream isn’t entirely sure that the dream team meet up will happen this year but he’s working out the details because he wants to make sure it’s safe
he’s talking to youtube about his face reveal
it’s up to george if he wants to eat healthy when they finally move in
dream just has a lot of meat and vegetables in his house
spinach with chicken is good
not much fruit (only apples and tomatoes)
“DRISTA IS 5″ is trending on twitter LOL (her height got cut off)
dream doesn’t want people flying to different places because he doesn’t want to encourage travel so he wants to do all of the meet ups with a two day heads up at most
he thinks that it’s awesome that ranboo and tubbo are meeting soon !! :D
it’s very cool to dream to see how far everyone’s has come since the beginning of the dsmp. everyone has done so much
dream finalized his youtube plan a couple weeks before he uploaded his video and he was talking to drista about how he was gonna be a big youtuber in a parking lot :”)
she was the first person he really ever talked to about it
dream would love to teach george how to drive it’d be really funny :D (a very good video or a livestream idea)
dream knows how to ride a bike, he used to have to bike to school
he can’t explain dnf.gay he has no clue he is not responsible. sapnap was the one who found it LOL. he is adamantly exclaiming that it was not him
dream doesn’t worry about views/likes/dislikes a lot- mainly views but that’s for the new uploads
he hasn’t uploaded in like a month and a half (*cries*)
he wants to stream at some point but he doesn’t know when
he wants to play geoguessr but not now... he doesn’t want to alt stream rn- maybe tomorrow!
he is insisting that the splash text on his minecraft home screen is by callahan
he asked callahan to send him bunch of text files that are dream team related so that the splash can rotate through it but callahan thought it was funny (it is) to put only dreamnotfound <3 so it doesn’t ever change at all and dream doesn’t even know how to change and he has asked callahan to change it but he said no (even though dream pays him LMAO)
the video referenced in the padilla’s video is still in the works, it might be handed over to sapnap though !
he has no idea if he will be in MCC pride yet
padilla got dream’s input for the video, dream found him to be a very nice guy ! :) it’s the first interview that dream did that wasn’t by a person with a negative opinion of dream
dream felt relaxed doing the interview with padilla
?????? he’s blaming callahan for his “dnfisreal” nickname in bedwars
he’s blaming callahan for a lot of dnf-related stuff
callahan runs the dream fanart account thus the liking of dnf content
he’s so insistent that it was callahan
dream admits that he was lying about the twitter and other stuff but for sure callahan did code the splash text in LOL
dream liking that tweet “the chances of george doing a hot tub stream is the same of dnf dating” was “funny” he wasnt trying to do any commentary...
the inside joke of “oh it’s all just a joke to you” originates from george and sapnap actually always fighting (like them yelling and shouting at each other) and george said something really mean and sapnap was hurt then geroge said “it was just a joke” and sapnap replied with that line and ever since then it’s been a meme LOL
he says that everyone does the hand-on-the-passenger-seat-while-reversing thing
dream is offline raiding with his chat with 6k people
dream appreciates us and will talk to us soon!
#dreamwastaken#dreamblr#long post#really long post xd#summary#not really a summary... literally just everything he said#merch discord

im so sorry i went completely feral with this
if you wanna watch the arg without spoilers, you can find it here (jack’s official playlist) or here (jack’s playlist plus the hidden clips. this one is messed up, as two of the clue videos are kinda just shoved in after the final video, but it mostly works.) this video is also really good but it only makes sense if you watch the playlist first because of the timeline and chronology and such
the official arghaven doc is also a very good explanation, and has a lot more details about clues and theories than i can talk about so if youre more into the code side of args id totally recommend that one
okay okay so before i explain the arg there are two people other than wilbur you need to know about. jacksucksatlife, a minecraft youtuber, and kai, who edits for him
(the explanation from now on is all in-universe)
in december 2018, jack got an email from a man named wilbur soot who was looking for a gig working as an editor for jack. jack decided to humor him, and gave wilbur a time limit of 24 hours
wilbur sent the edited video back a good 48 hours later, and it was mostly a normally edited minecraft video, there was a clip inserted in the middle. wilbur stood in a messy, abandoned house, talking about being on the run, and mentioning having hypothermia. he begins to play his guitar, asking for money, but there;s a banging sound and wilbur curses and sprints out the back door. the footage cuts back to jack playing minecraft
in the second video wilbur edits, there is a clip of him siting in some sort of park at night, on what looks like a beer keg, and another of him running and falling over next to a house. a few clues left in the video lead to others, following a theme of phone calls or recordings, and edgar allen poe poems, most notably the raven.
multiple times, morse code or text on the screen says something along the lines of “don’t tell kai what i did.” in all of wilbur’s emails to jack, he censors kai’s name as k**, and a robotic voice says in one clue “i did something embarrassing.” wilbur asks multiple times for kai to be fired, or the world will find out what wilbur did. its unclear if this is because kai will tell everyone, or because wilbur will be forced to give out this information himself
a clue was left in some bushes, somewhere in london (i think?? i dont like in britain ok) and when someone following the arg went to retrieve it, in a livestream that is no longer uploaded to youtube, it had nothing but a note signed by someone named sonichu that said they were too late. later, sonichu joined arghaven, the discord sever started by flaredaverage to solve the arg, and sent the clue he had taken.
in the next video, wilbur once more demanded for kai to be fired, and used the phrase “its nice when things end with a bow on top,” and in other clue videos he uses the phrase “im so cold“ a lot
two more videos were made, mostly of jack explaining what had happened with the arg recently, and wilbur continuing to leave clues asking for kai to be fired. in the last video, wilbur monologues about how the old wilbur, who left clues and didnt know how to handle emotions is dead.
in another video, not confirmed as part of the arg, jack had three editors, wilbur, larry, and kai edit the same video for him. wilbur’s included a message directed at kai, from the “new“ wilbur. he talks about how larry is going to replace kai, and how kai should stand up to it so he doesnt lose is job. the message ends with “Rise up, Kai. I may be gone. I may be a shell of what I was but you're stronger than this. You're better than this. I should know. I should know.“
and that’s the last ever clue we got. the arg is still unsolved, but there are some awesome theories out there (most of which can be found in the doc!! im inclined towards elle’s lovely three personally) and even though the original server, arghaven, moved on and recently got shut down, there’s a new wilburargtwt server out there that’s working on it and on wilbur’s other stuff.
hope this helped someone?? thank you for coming to my ted talk

Digital Horses Are the Talk of the Crypto World The Kentucky Derby may be the best-known stakes race happening in the equestrian world this weekend, but it’s hardly the only one. On Zed Run, a digital horse racing platform, several such events take place every hour, seven days a week. Owners pay modest entry fees — usually between $2 and $15 — to run their steeds against others for prize money. The horses in these online races are NFTs, or “nonfungible tokens,” meaning they exist only as digital assets. You can’t pet them or feed them carrots by hand. You can’t sit in the stands sipping mint juleps while they sprint by. But, unlike the vast majority of NFTs — which correspond to GIFs, images and videos that can be kept as collectibles or sold for profit — each digital horse constitutes what Zed Run’s creators call a “breathing NFT.” “A breathing NFT is one that has its own unique DNA,” said Roman Tirone, the head of partnerships at Virtually Human, the Australian studio that created Zed Run. “It can breed, has a bloodline, has a life of its own. It races, it has genes it passes on, and it lives on an algorithm so no two horses are the same.” (Yes, owners can breed their NFT horses in Zed Run’s “stud farm.”) People — most of them crypto enthusiasts — are rushing to snap up the digital horses, which arrive on Zed Run’s site as limited-edition drops; some of them have fetched higher sums than living steeds. One player sold a stable full of digital racehorses for $252,000. Another got $125,000 for a single racehorse. So far, more than 11,000 digital horses have been sold on the platform. Alex Taub, a tech start-up founder in Miami, has purchased 48 of them. “Most NFTs, you buy them and sell them, and that’s how you make money,” Mr. Taub, 33, said. “With Zed, you can earn money on your NFT by racing or breeding.” His stable is still growing. He recently bred a digital horse for his 5-year-old daughter. “She comes home from school and wants to race it,” he said. “She named her horse Gemstone, and Gemstone had two babies named Rainbows and Sparkles.” Each race has a 12-horse limit, the lineups of which are based on the qualities and past performance of each horse. The site uses an algorithm that runs 10,000 random outcomes and chooses one as the race’s condition. The races take place around the clock and are streamed on both Zed Run’s Twitch channel and the company’s website. Zed Run also operates a Discord server, where people can follow race results, trade tips and share third-party tools for analyzing data. Users livestream their own races and repackage clips for YouTube and Twitch. “There are people who are becoming mini influencers in this ecosystem themselves,” said Yair Altmark, a venture capitalist in New York who has spent over $300,000 on digital horses. “And horses that are getting credibility on these streams and exposure on the Discord are making a name for themselves.” He anticipates making much of his money back. “It wouldn’t surprise me if some of these horses are trading for $1 million in a couple months,” Mr. Altmark, 23, said, “because these horses can generate a crazy return on your investment.” It costs anywhere from a few dollars to around $50 to enter a buy-in race, and you can race a horse an unlimited number of times. Zed Run was founded in 2018 by Chris Laurent, Rob Salha, Geoff Wellman and Chris Ebeling. They felt that horse racing was fertile ground for innovation. “It’s one of the world’s oldest sports, and it has remained unchanged since the dawn of time,” Mr. Laurent said. Owning and racing real horses can be prohibitively expensive. But there is a lower barrier to entry for NFT horse racing, according to Drew Austin Greenfeld, 36, an investor in New York. “There are cheap horses and premium horses,” he said. Renee Russo, a 25-year-old entrepreneur in New York, said that racing her digital horse, Glacial Planes, feels more like playing a video game than taking a gamble. “I own this horse, I’m not betting on another horse,” she said, “so I feel like I have complete control of where it’s going, who it’s racing and who I want to breed it with.” As with all investments, there is reason for caution here. Should Zed Run turn out to be a fad, these digital horses could be rendered worthless. Fans of digital horse racing often talk about the “metaverse,” a shared space where physical and virtual reality meet. “My opinion is that Zed Run will be the first digital sport of the metaverse,” said Mr. Greenfeld. “People are going to root for horses and stables, and become fans. There are horses that are already celebrities in the ecosystem. It’s global, there’s no language barriers and it’s 24/7. It takes the best of crypto, NFTs, esports, streaming.” In any case, as the NFT craze grows and more people discover digital horse racing, Zed Run is expanding rapidly. The company has 30 employees around the world and plans to keep hiring. Recently, celebrities and athletes have begun investing in the space. The actor Jerry Ferrara, who played Turtle in the HBO series “Entourage,” has purchased a digital horse, as did Wilson Chandler, a professional basketball player. Some users said that Zed Run has also piqued their interest in the real-world spectator sport. “I would have never watched an actual horse race on YouTube before, but I’ve watched five now because of the idea of just familiarizing myself with how actual horse racing works,” Mr. Altmark said. Mr. Taub, for his part, is going all in on digital races. He plans to purchase more horses in the next Zed Run drop to build out his stable. “This is either going to be the smartest or stupidest thing I’ve ever done,” he said. “I’ll either buy a house with the money I make from it or never show my face for a year.” Source link Orbem News #crypto #Digital #horses #talk #World
