notes: my first request!! i absolutely love requests and i so hope that this is as good as you’d hoped:) this was a little different than requested but still i hope you like it

warnings: maybe a little angst

Secrets among a team who is fighting for a game as big as the super bowl is never good. the boys of the bengals football team never have secrets, not any big ones that’ll effect how they play anyway.

the closer boys, being joe burrow, Jamar, joe mixon, sam, and a few others, had no secrets. not only for the team but also because they are friends, best friends.

but joe was a very private person. he never really was much for telling the world about his private life. even with his best friends, he was hesitant to tell them anything at first

but he had a big secret. he met this girl during off season, in april, a native to cincinnati. who just so happened to have the last name of Hubbard.

sam had never introduced his sister to any of the guys, they knew of her, but sam was a big protector so he never wanted any of them around his special little sister.

so on a night where he just wanted to take a walk, and breath around four months ago, he ran into mrs y/n hubbard. and it’s been four months of sneaking around ever since.

of course sam knew of y/n having a boyfriend, and he respected the wishes of not meeting him yet. but was still suspicious of how he treated his little angel

this was a secret that could affect how they played. a big secret.

so when sam saw the picture on his instagram feed while he was out with some of the boys, jamar, mixon, mike hilton, tee, and tyler. sam was not happy, not excited, sam was angry. his sister had lied, his team mate had lied, and so had his bestfriend.

on that same day, joe and y/n were laying in her apartment, laying on her bed together. “y/n baby, you are the most beautiful girl in the world” she smiled, kissing her on the cheek. “then i think it’s time to tell everybody”

joes breath hitched. he knew sam would be angry, but he could never really fathom how angry he’d be. “i have to tell sam before we tell anyone but i’m tired of having to sneak around and not hug you after games and-“ joe cut her off with a kiss, pulling her closer. “of course. don’t be so anxious, we’re gonna let the world know. i’m gonna let the whole world know how much i love you”

he pushed her onto the bed and kissed her, holding her as close as he possibly can.

and just as they’d gotten close, the door slammed open, causing something to fall off the dresser and break.

“I can not believe either of you!” it was sam

y/n pushed joe off as fast as she could, standing up to confront her brother.

“Sammy i wanted to tell you i did- i just-“

“you just what? wanted to tell me but didn’t tell me and i had to find out from a twitter post? y/n what if he hurt you! i couldn’t have done anything because i didn’t know! and if he hurt you it would’ve and will affect my job!”

“don’t you think i know that sam. i can’t help who i fall in love with”

sam stood quiet, and only then did y/n and joe notice the other boys behind him. “in love? how long have you been lying?” y/n stood tall. “four months”

“i can’t believe you” and with that he walked out.

“hey, for one we are happy for you two” jamar said, pulling joe off the floor. “i mean we’ve heard a lot about y/n, she’s a good girl” tee added

“but i suggest you patch it up with sam before it affects the game”

as the boys left, then and only then did y/n cry. she felt as if she lost her brother, her very favorite person on the planet. joe walked over to her, pulling her close. “he’s gonna get over it, i promise” joe brushed her hair down, rocking her side to side.

“joey he’s gonna make me choose” joe took a breath. “i know you’d choose him. he won’t make you choose, he wants you to be happy.”

at practice the next week, it was going horribly. every chance sam got he was shoulder checking joe, and joe was so completely off his game. coach was not having it.

“Joe! come see me”

joe jogged over, nodding to zac to begin speaking. “jamar informed me of the little mishap between you and sam. as much as i want you boys to connect, do not let your personal life fiddle with your job. talk to him, please” “yes coach.” joe sighed, walking over to sam.

“listen sam, i’d never hurt y/n and-“ sam stopped him. “no but you lied to me. and my baby sister, the one person i can trust, lied to me.” he crossed his arms

“listen, we were gonna tell you but we were afraid of something like this happening sam, she really loves you she just didn’t want to disappoint you”

“she could never disappoint me” joe smiled. “never in a million years could she disappoint me” sam tossed his helmet down. “just don’t hurt her man” joe nodded with a smile, “bro hugging” his best friend.

that night, y/n was moping around her apartment in joes sweats, and a sweatshirt when she heard a knock on her door. upon opening it, sam stood at the door. “y/n i’m so sorry for how i acted” he pulled her into a big hug. “i’m so sorry i’m so glad your happy and he loves you and i’m so sorry”

no one noticed joe standing behind him.

“oh sammy i’m so sorry i didn’t tell you i just care about you so much” y/n sobbed into his shoulder while joe snuck passed y/n. “i love you so much y/n”

y/n smiled so much, happy to have her brother back and not have to be so secretive. as y/n and sam let go joe hugged her from behind, with a small jump y/n turned around and kissed him

“okay okay just because i said this was fine doesn’t mean i want you doing this nasty stuff cut it out.”

Just listing some basic drew headcanons here because I feel like I see the same ones over and over again so I’d like to combat that 🤺🤺/lh ofc, I love all headcanons

>Drew is Bengali, His great grandparents came to the uk from Kolkata (Whether it be from partition stuff or not) And since then, his family blood has still been entirely from west bengal

>Drew isn’t necessarily religious, however, He enjoys Hindu religious holidays (Like Diwali and Holi) and Pujas and He especially loves the food. His parents (who are Hindu) are fine with him being non religious, But do wish for him to participate in events just to spend time with him, which he doesn’t mind at all

>Adding onto that, he doesn’t eat beef or pork. Not for religious reasons, but because he just wasn’t raised on them and doesn’t enjoy the taste or texture.

>His parents love him, but are absent quite a lot due to work and business meetings. The only times he’ll see them for more than a months on end is during the winter months, mainly because thats holiday season. Other than that, 2 weeks at home, 2 weeks on a business trip, repeat

>His parents try to show their affection to him via gifts and food, because its really all they can send over while they’re away. Because of this, drew developed Gift giving and cooking food for people love languages

>this man can COOK. I know I said its one of his love languages, so you’d assume so, but oh my LORD this man can cook. Its half the reason henry and liam come over so often! He best at more traditional bengali food (although he hates doing it), but he can make pretty much anything if you give him a heads up, the ingredients, and enough time to tinker around with the recipe!

>His hair is actually wavy/loose curls, but he hates having curly hair, so he either straightens it so it doesn’t poof up, or uses a bit of hairspray. The only people who really know his hair is curly is the jomies (including jake, lia, and zoey) because they’ve slept over at his house, and have probably seen him when his hair was wet and curly again.

>He’s 15 feet into a glass closet. My sexuality head-canons for him change a lot, but I’ve sort of settled on omni/ace for now. However, For the most part, I think if he were to come out, he’d just be queer. I dont think he’d care for labels too much

>Obvious attachment issues, slight separation anxiety, although, I can see it being more leaning towards henry and liam than jake for that. He might have had an obsession with jake, but I think it’d have hurt more if henry and liam left him, considering they had been there the longest.

Drew and Milly do both occasionally pull the “I’m going to tell Thamma (grandma)!”, which does admittedly stop the other from doing whatever they were going to do.

>Drew has picked on pretty much all the club members, except for sean. Whether this be because Sean is taller than him, older than him, Or because they simply just have never really talked, drew mostly leaves him alone. He forgets sean is there most of the time

why i love jev and why you should too; an essay

first things first, Jean-Éric Vergne is a french racing driver, driving in f1 for Toro Rosso from 2012 to 2014, and the to date only Formula E bi-champion (this word was used by official fe commentators and i thought it was hilarious so i adapted it). His cat is called Cheetah.

Jev is tall for a racing driver, so he always had trouble with weight regulations simply because he has more body mass than shorter drivers. He had massive health problems especially in his last year in f1 because he needed to meet weight regulations. When he was out of f1, he was with Ferrari as test driver for one year in 2015 while also doing formula e where he was good in qualifying but less good in the races.

In f1, jev was part of the frenchie gang

and a close friend of Jules Bianchi, whose death took a big toll on jev. Jev is still getting on well with the f1 frenchies we have at the moment and he was driving the virtual le mans in a team with Pierre Gasly with whom he is probably already sharing strategies to comb over bald spots.

In his first years in fe, jev was known to be difficult, he was in a really bad place from getting the Red Bull Family Treatment™ and when he got to techeetah from (ds) virgin racing it was said that that was more or less a last hurrah but boy they were wrong.

Techeetah was the right team for Jev and they got their collective shit together and won two driver's and one team championship.

That much for history, now the important stuff:

I like Jev a lot because he has the same personality as my cat: bitchy, mopes if things do not go his way, seems like an ass but is actually a softie.

when he's concentrated, jevs eyes double in size and he goes full 👁️👄👁️

When the australian gp didn't happen jev looked at the trainwreck of f1 and said skdjdhdhdjs lets go virtual i got this and then proceeded to do the not the gp series with veloce just because he could. F1 wishes. The f1 virtual gps were just a pale copy of Jev Virtual Racing inc.

Another point of why i love jev is that he liked a painting i made of him on instagram

i also love jev because he can not sit straight and i identify with that as well as him practically inhaling kinder eggs on stream, which is another point: TWITCH JEV.

This is his twitch and his streams mostly consisted of bad formatting, angry french mumbling and huffing and calling seb buemi to complain/mope

My personal highlight of jev streams was when Cheetah came to sit on his bed during the virtual le mans and also the chaotic amazon box corner he had under his stairs

Jev has a rug in his living room with his logo/intials on it, which says something about his ego as well as his interior design tastes.

Cheetah, his young and very cute bengal cat looks perpetually worried about him (understandable) and takes great interest in sim racing

of course i can not mention jev without jeandre because the fe francophone power couple is the fanfic that writes itself:

from being childish dumbasses as teammates to demonstrating how baby fe cars are made and still getting the first 1-2 in fe history in santiago de chile to dinner dates to jev going to andre's house in gordes on his birthday to jev once again being a human in cat software and inconveniently plopping himself onto andre to "and there was only one bed" irl, jeandre are goals.

Andre is the prime example of what happens when a wild jev meets someone he clicks with and can work with well (still waiting for the jeandre sunglasses brand)

here they can be seen judging anything you put into the blue rectangle, thank me later

when things do not go his way, jev mopes. Getting yeeted by George in the not the gp series? Jev mopes. Qualifying went bad? Jev mopes. Small inconvenience? Jev mopes. Big inconvenience? Jev mopes and says/does something unsportsmanlike which gets him in trouble over which he probably mopes even more. He's a sulky mopey little girl at the playground and i love him for it even though I don't support his rash dumbassery he sometimes shows on track.

Now jev is regularly being described as "the frenchest person possible" and he is not only french but parisian. A true parisian should always be a little slutty and jev can do that no problem.

jev is the kind of person who goes full cleavage on his bike jersey and i respect that

anyways jev is a really cool and sincere dude when he's not sulking at the moment, he's a great driver and while he does have his faults he seems like someone you can genuinely vibe well with.

Also he plays piano beause ofc he does hes the slutty sulky french googly eyes dude
