Caine and Pomni slept peacefully together in the master bedroom of the manor. It was early dawn, sunlight shifting the sky to a hazy grey blue. The door to their bedroom creaked open. A small puppet scurries to the bed and bumps into the mattress, trying to climb it.

"Dad! Hey, dad! Get up, we gonna go! Daaaaad! Hey, DAD!" Cade grabbed Caine by the arm and tried to drag him out of bed.

Pomni stirred with a smile. "Your son is awake..."

"Dad, dad, dad, dad, dad, dad, dad, dad!" Cade repeated as he tugged at his father's arm.

Caine grumbled. "Before sunrise, he's your son."

Cade lost his grip and fell backwards off the bed. "Woah!" With his mother's tenacity, he got back up quickly and leapt onto the bed, headbutting Caine. Their teeth clank together loudly. "You promised!"

Caine is rattled awake and looks at the young puppet pouting at him. "Okay, okay...I'm up."

"YEAH!!" Cade celebrates and gives his mom a quick hug before running out of the room.

Caine yawns, stretches and kisses Pomni on the head before getting up and dressed. He finds Cade pacing in the hall, waiting rather impatiently by the bedroom door.

"Finally! Come on, dad!" He runs to his father, arms open wide.

Caine lifts his son into his arms and holds him on his hip. "Ready, champ?"

"Ready!" Cade wiggled with excitement.

"1,2,3-"

"Blink!! Yay!" Cade giggled as they vanished and reappeared on the roof of the mansion. "Again! Again!"

"Again?" Caine smiled. "Alright, how far do you think I can go?"

"uuuuh, over there!" Cade pointed to a distant bell tower.

Caine put his hand out as though gauging the distance. "Hmmmmm, I don't know, champ. That seems kinda-NEVERMIND!" He blinked to the top of the bell tower, one of the highest points in the newly revitalized City of Circuits.

Cade squealed with delight. "Daaad! You're supposed to say blink!"

"Oh, no, you're right. I forgot, silly me." He sat on the slightly slanted roof, Cade in his lap. "This is the view you wanted?"

"Yeah." Cade snuggled against his dad and watched the suns rays cascade morning pastels across the horizon. "The city looks so cool from up here. Like a big playset."

"That it does. Everything has changed so much... The City of Circuits is regrowing, filled with puppets. And then there's you, our little miracle." He kissed Cade's head.

"Yeah..." Cade frowned. "Why is there only one me?"

"Champ, I don't think the world could handle more than one of you." Caine chuckled.

"No, why are there no other puppets like me?"

Caine held Cade tight comfortingly. "Give it time, son. Before you, we didn't even know you were possible. I bet before you know it, the streets will be swarming with puppet children. Then you'll have so many friends you won't know what to do with them."

"I hope so. Hey, dad, bet you can't get to that rocky ledge outside the city."

Caine had to actually squint to see what Cade was pointing at. "Huh, Guess I could... But for the life of me I can't remember the magic word."

"Huh??"

"Oh, what was it? ...drink? No. Sink? Clink? Oh, dear."

"DAAAAD!" Cade laughed

Caine dramatically put his arm over his head and leaned back. "Oh, woe is me and my terrible memory! Help me, son! What was it?? Rinky-dink?"

"No!!" Cade couldn't stop laughing. "It's blink!!"

"Oh yeah!"

"BLINK!!" Cade and Caine shouted at the same time and teleported all the way to the waypoint Cade found. From there, they stood with their backs to the sunshine, seeing the city stretch across the horizon. "Now this is a view I could eat."

"What? You can't eat the city, dad?"

"I can't?"

"No!"

"Well, then I'll settle for eating you!" Caine made loud nomming sounds and pressed his teeth to Cade as his son squealed and squirmed playfully in his arms.

"Caine, what have I told you about spoiling your appetite?" Pomni's voice came from behind them.

"MOM!" Cade wiggled out of Caine's grasp and ran to his mother. She picked him up, tossed him in the air, and caught him, holding him close. "Mom! Dad was trying to eat me!"

"I saw. I'm only disappointed that he wasn't going to share."

"Wait, wha-" Cade screamed with laughter as Pomni "ate" at him. "Momma, no! No eat MEEEEEE!"

She relented to give Cade a chance to catch his breath. Little puppet was in an absolute laughing tizzy. She stood close to Caine and gave him a kiss. "Having fun running around with the little one?"

"Always, but I think I riled him up too much. He'll be an absolute menace if we go back home now."

"Let me handle him. I'm on City patrol today, he can walk around with me."

"Thank you." Caine kissed Pomni again. His gaze is eternally loving towards her. "I've got a council meeting to attend. We're deciding where to build the new pump house... So exciting." He drawled.

"They should put it over there!" Cade pointed in a random direction.

"Really? I was going to suggest putting it up there." Caine pointed to a random spot in the sky.

Cade giggled. "Silly, daddy."

Caine's heart could melt right off his chest. Pomni and Cade. His FAMILY, right there in front of him. Potentially forever. He hugged both of them.

Pomni smiled and leaned against his shoulder. Cade squirmed between his parents, unable to sit still.

"I love you..." Caine whispered.

"I love you, too." Pomni said back.

"...can we get crayons?" Cade asked.
