The Little Mermaid Live Action
I’m so freaking prepared for this movie and it’s not even funny!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve watched the trailer so many times since the full trailer was released.
The original Little Mermaid movie was and is still one of my all time favorite Disney movies. And now just seeing in come to life is amazing. I can already tell you I’m gonna be in tears probably halfway through the movie.
There are probably a million reasons why I’m so excited but I’m only going to talk about my top 3.
Halle Bailey: She such a beautiful woman and a wonderful singer. I heard her singing only a few times before, but when I really heard her voice was during the Disney World 50th Anniversary and she sang “Can You Feel Love Tonight” and she has such a beautiful singing voice. I also read this article somewhere online about Jodi Benson (the original Ariel) and her opinion about Halle playing Ariel. Jodi Benson has been very supportive of Halle as she plays Ariel and was there when Halle received backlash about her playing Ariel. So, Jodi Benson talked about how it doesn’t matter who you are, what you look, or where your from, it’s about the spirit of the character is what’s important. I 100% agree with her. Halle Bailey is going to do a wonderful job by bring one of the most iconic Disney princesses to life.
2. The Music and New Songs: Can we just take a moment and talk about Lin-Manuel Miranda?!?! As everyone should know, he wrote the Broadway musicals “In The Heights” and “Hamilton” and has also written music for other Disney movies like “Encanto” and “Moana”. Lin-Manuel is also a big Disney fan and he also named his son after Sebastian in the little mermaid. And now he gets to work with Alan Menken (the original music composer) and he was the one who inspired Lin-Manuel to compose music. He basically gets to work with his hero and that’s amazing!!!! I’ve also read somewhere that Lin-Manuel might be Chef Louis in the movie.
Ok, now the music. We all have to admit that the original soundtrack slaps!!!! They are classics and masterpieces. I can’t wait to listen to it again in the live action. I have a feeling some of the songs might be a tad different from the original, but that doesn’t bother me. The have done the same thing in all the other Disney live action movies and I love those movies.
I’m really excited to hear these new songs in the movie. As I said earlier, Lin-Manuel Miranda got up work with Alan Menken and wrote 4 new songs. Can’t wait to hear them and listen to them like a million times once the soundtrack comes out.
3. The Actors: Besides Halle Bailey as Ariel, I think they did an amazing job with the cast. I mean, you could have picked better than these actors and actresses to play these roles.
Awkwafina as Scuttle: If you didn’t know who she is, Awkwafina was in “Jumamji: The Next Level” and “Chang-Shi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”. She is a really funny actress and always makes me laugh. I think she will make a great Scuttle.
Daveed Diggs as Sebastian: I think everyone had a feeling that he would play Sebastian before the trailer even came out. He was in “Hamilton” with Lin-Manuel Miranda and also rapped a whole bunch in the musical. I read somewhere that he might rap in the movie and that makes me happy. He honestly fits the role of Sebastian perfectly.
Melissa McCarthy as Ursula: Just like Awkwafina, Melissa McCarthy also makes me laugh as well. She was in the movie “Life of the Party” and Netflix “Thunder Force”. I’m excited to see her bring out her inner diva while playing Ursula.
Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric: First of all, he is extremely cute and hot. When I first saw him I was like blushing like crazy. Also, he was in “A Dog’s Way Home” and the tv show “World On Fire”. I’m excited to see him play Prince Eric. Another thing to point out is that Prince Eric was my Disney Prince crush when I was little and that crush it starting up again.
Those are my top 3 reasons why I am excited about the Live Action Little Mermaid. I won’t be able to wait any longer as it approaches theaters.

An anonymous lover (part 6)
Summary : Y/N sees Sirius Black running away after a particularly rough letter from his mother. She wants to cheer him up and decide to send him a letter, anymously, she knows how much he hates her house.
Warnings : Slytherin!Reader, female!reader, not proof read, panick attack
Word count : 2k
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5 - You're here - Part 7
English is not my first language, sorry if there is any mistakes
-----------------------------
Y/N didn’t go to class, she felt like shit, completly like shit. She was in her bed, rolled in her blanket, looking at nothing, the argument with Sirius playing in her head over and over again. Tears would have rolled down if she hadn’t cried all of them already.
She simply couldn’t believe it, a part of her wished so hard that was all a nightmare. But she knew it wasn’t, she had let her guard down and had been stabbed a million time by the very person she had trust enough to tell all of her being.
She hated how much this impacted her, she should be used to it by now, shouldn’t she ? It wasn’t like student from other house hasn’t already told her all those things ; “monters”,”abomination”,”shame”... It wasn’t rare for slytherin for being bullied just for bieng slytherin, most of them have built up walls to protect themselves.
She even got comment from other slytherin, the bad one, those who gave a bad name to this house, on how she doesn’t deserve to be here, that the Hat had made a mistake, because surely there was no way “a dumb”, “snoflake”, “less than nothing” had ended up in the house of the greatest wizard of the magic world !
All their insults started to spin in her head, she had tried so hard to not let them get to her but Sirius’ comments just validated them. They were right, she was a shame, to her house, to this school, probably to her family and friends too, why would anyone wants to be with her anyway ?
She started to feel herself suffocating in her duvet, so she took her blanket off. Her hands were trambling, hearts pounding faster than an hyppogryff at full speed, she could barely breath and started to panick even more. It wasn’t the fisrt that happened to her, so she tried to remember Madam Pomfrey’s advices.
She closed her eyes and focused on her breath, trying to gain control back, it took many tries, but after minutes who felt like hours, she was able to breathe properly. She sighed in relief, and for a few minutes, just looked at the floor, debating with herself of what to do and letting her time to recover from what just happened.
She tapped her thigh vigourously and stood up, she wasn’t going to let a heartbreak lead her life ! She was going to take a nice shower and get into comfortable clothes and get out of her room !
After cleaning herself up, she still didn’t feel like going to class, fearing of a new break down, so got dress, she took some school supplies and went to the slytherin common room, it was dark, with tall walls and big windows to have a look in the Black lake. Mermaids came sometimes, communications was a bit hard but it was kind of fun to bound with these creatures, she loved watching them swin, it was mesmerising.
She sat down on a window seat, were cushion had been placed and as well as a tray for those who –just like her- wanted to study. This would give her the possibility of being productive despise not going to class, and avoid thinking of Sirius for a while –she did let her potion books and notes in her bedroom just to be safe-
After a few hours, she was proud of herself for all the work she had done, all her homeworks were done, and she even took the time to do studies in advance, she had not think of Sirius that much, and was now looking at the lake, some mermaids were playing together a bit further, it was hide to see since the water of the lake wasn’t clear but if you focused enough, you could see it.
But she was took out of her observation when she felt a tap on shoulder, when she looked it was Collins, the prefect who guide her back to the common room last night. She was so overwhelmed yesterday, she hadn’t took the time to look at him, she hadn’t realised he was a fellow slytherin. She didn’t care much of her house structure if she was honest, she had no idea of who was headboy or girl, prefect or member of the quidditch team.
She took a good look at him, he was tall with blond curly hair and dark eyes, quite cute actually. But then it hit her, was she in trouble for skipping class ? Shit, had she missed McGonagall detention ? So she just at him, waiting to be reprimand or something, but it didn’t happen, he just looked at her and then away, oppenning and closing his mouth, trying to say something.
She decided to end his suffering and spoke, “Yes ?” He hesitate a bit more before looking finally at her. “Are you.. Are you okay ?” This took Y/N by surprise, she wasn’t expecting him to worry about her, when he guided her back, he hadn’t said a word and clearly looked uneasy, she thought he would do anything to avoid her.
“Hum, well, yeah, thanks for asking.” An akward silence set between the two for a few seconds, Y/N decided to put her stuff away since she wasn’t going to study again. “Do you need anything else ?” Collins jumped, surprised to hear her after the seconds of silence. “No.. I mean YES ! I … well..” he clearly didn’t know what to say, that’s adorable though Y/N. She motion him to sit down in front of her.
He did so and sighed, before slamming his hand on face, “Sorry, this is akward, I don’t know what to say”, Y/N laughed a bit “I can see that !” she teased. He became all the shade of red. “What about some presentation first ? I’m Y/N Y/L/N” she reached out her hand.
He smiled and shook her hand. “Benjamin Collins, but please, call me Ben” She nodded. “So, Ben, what else did you have to tell me ? “
He looked down at his hand, playing with his thumbs, “I.. I don’t know. After what happenned last night I just wanted to make sure you were okay, and when I didn’t see you at mealtime, I got a bit worried”. Y/N openned her mouth, it was her turn to not know what to say, that was just so sweet, she didn’t expect it from a stranger. But then her stomach gurgled and it was his turned to laugh. “I ‘m taking that into you didn’t eat yet ? Come with me, we’ll found you something”
And that’s how both of them went to the kitchen, the house elves were nice to make her a little something, and they talked for a few hours. Y/N learned he was a year older than her he was a muggleborn, he had a little sister he was really closed to, she didn’t turn out to be a witch too which made him quite sad but he was proud of her anyway. She spend such a good time with him, it’s actually him who had to remind her of her detention.
To not be late she had to run to her dorm to quickly change, not sure McGonagall would have liked seeing her in a casual outfit, and then she had to run to the classroom, whe she arrived just in time. There, she saw Sirius, who snapped his head at her when she got in clearly waiting for her. But before their eyes could meet, she turned her head and sat down as far as possible from him. It is only now she realised she hadn’t thought of him at all while she was with Benjamin.
He was about to say something but to Y/N’s relief, Professor McGonagall got in, “Perfect, I see you are both here, for your detention you are going to organise all of the books of this class in alphabetical order, without magic, of course” Y/N widen her eyes, there were a lot of books here, it was going to take forever.
Both her and Sirius got up and started to work, Y/N always stepped away the closer Sirius got to her. He eyed her every now and then but she ignore him completly, after a few minutes he looked to see if McGonagall was paying attention to them and when he saw she was busy, he spoke low to Y/N.
“Y/N ?” she ignored him, “Y/N ? Can we talk ?” she still ignore him, “Y/N, please”, she blessed him with a hard look and spoke irritated, “What”
Sirius felt himself getting smaller at her look, he did deserve that. “I’m sorry” she rolled her eyes and kept her work. “I really I’m Y/N, I-.. You didn’t deserve any of the words I said to you, I didn’t believe any of them I-” as he was speaking, she walked away, not giving a glare.
“I know, I know, you’re mad-” she was about to talk but he kept going, wanting to have the chance to finish first “-and I deserve your anger, but I want to make it up to you”
She finally talk, “It’s far too late for sorry, the harm is done, there is nothing you can do”
“There’ got to be something I can do ! Please Y/N”
“You want to make it up to me ? Organise those books so we can be out as soon as possible and stop talking to me”
Sirius frowned, and sighed “I will find a way Y/N, be sure of that” “Get to work, Black”. He grimaced when he heard her uses his last name, he will take a lot more than a simple apology to earn her forgivness, but he was going to make every effort, she was worth all of it. He will take down the moon and give it to her if that would make her talked to him again.
Once they stopped talking it took an hour and a half in total to finish it, Sirius did his best to be as efficient as possible, if she wanted to be out as quickly aas possible, she will. Once they had finish, she quickly excuse herself from Professor McGonagall and walked away.
Sirius sighed, putting his face in his hand. McGonagall walked to him and pat his shoulder, “Good luck Mister Black, you are going to need it”, he thanked her and went to his dorm.
He decided to analyse every letter she has send him, searching for all the things that could make her forgive him, making a list, putting on plans, with the help of the marauders. He had a pretty clear idea, it would take a couple of days to put in place, he hoped so hard it would work.
It was now time for dinner, he went with his friends, once at the table he search for Y/N at the slytherin table, his eye widen when he saw her sitting next to a boy he recognise to be the one who took her back to her common room yesterday. He felt his blood boil in his veign, she was smiling and laughing out loud. Wow, that laugh, he loved it, but he shouted dark glare at the boy, he wanted to be the one to make her laugh.
“Stop tarring” said Remus suddenly, making his friend jumped, “you don’t get to be jalous” Sirius groaned and let his head fall on the table with a hard thud, turning a few heads. “I know, I still don’t like it”
“She moved on fast” noted Peter. James shrugged a bit, “She’s a slytherin” he put his hands in the air when Sirius shot him an angry look, “Wha’ I mean is tha’ they are proud, she wasn’t goin’ to let herself down fo’ you”
Sirius sighed, he guessed that was a good thing ? He didn’t want her to be hurt because of him, but he felt bad for wanting her to care about him more than she does. He put that thought away, he didn’t get to wish for that when he was the one who pushed her away in the first place.
He looked at the two of them once more, clenching his fists, he had to make it up to you, and fast, or else he will lose you forever.

Wedding Aesthetics: Chuuya
A/N: Finally got around to writing another one of these! Chuuya's wedding is going to pull out all the stops! This man is going to make sure his S/O and himself feel like goddamn celebrities on their wedding day. Chuuya is picking red and gold for his wedding colors. Red is a color of passion and love and wine. Gold is opulence and luxury, and he is going to make sure his S/O feels like a million bucks every single day. He would go with traditional wedding vows, but his eyes would be basically piercing into his S/O's soul as he said them, a passionate fire in them that is hard to miss. His S/O would probably burn themselves trying to match his desire.
*************************************************
If his S/O is fem: Chuuya is trying to show off his S/O on their wedding day. He wants everyone to know how sexy they are and that they are HIS. He would want a fem S/O in something sexy, form fitting and it is probably ridiculously expensive. She would be stunning and he wants her to feel absolutely confident in herself. Since he wants it form fitting, it would either be a fit and flare or mermaid style dress. Gold or pearl beaded details mixed with lace draw all the eyes to her. Chuuya is a passionate man and I think he would absolutely love a plunging neckline on his S/O, but he is also a jealous man and his S/O probably kept that detail of the dress a secret until the big day. His face is scarlet and matches his hair when he first sees her at the alter.
If his S/O is masc: Chuuya would like his S/O in gold and white so that he, himself, can wear red. His S/O tux will be well-tailored to their body with gold accents for them to look like the pair they are. Again, he wants sexy, confident and luxurious. Visually he likes small details added to the tux so his eyes can explore around his husband's body; gold buttons, intricate cufflinks, pocket detailing. He knows how attractive his husband is and so will everyone else.
Chuuya's Clothes: We all know Chuuya has style and his wedding day is no exception. He'll have his hat off for the ceremony, but it is coming right back for the reception. Chuuya will be in red. It's a color he knows he looks good in and that will play up his cerulean eyes. He'll want something tapered and fitted, which helps him look taller. He'd go with a deep maroon or burgundy shade of red, so that he doesn't stand out too much, but he wants to be as equally impressive as his S/O. He would make sure certain details are gold to match his S/O, like his tie, buttons and lapel chain. He also went to get mani-pedi with his S/O the day before the wedding and got both of their hair professionally done for the occasion. They will look like the power couple that they are.
Bouquet/Boutonniere: Chuuya is going for passion, romance, and red. What would be better than roses for that? I also think roses are something that Chuuya would have been giving his S/O for a long time, so it would also be a staple to their relationship. He and his S/O might have even saved some of the dried roses from throughout their relationship and used them as the flower petals for the walkway. He wants his S/O's bouquet to have a tone of volume and he loves the dramatic effect a cascading bouquet gives. The boutonnieres would have matching gold accents in keeping with their theme and if his S/O is masc, they would have more roses on their boutonniere than on Chuuya's.
The Rings: If anyone can pick out a red and gold ring that still looks stylish, it's Chuuya. He picked out an expensive ring that compliments his style as well as his S/O. He likes the designs that loop around each other. It reminds him of how he and his S/O hold each other when their at their worst and even after his hot temper gets the better of him, they always find their way back to each other. He is grateful for how his S/O makes him feel like he belongs.
The Venue: Chuuya wants his S/O to have an amazing view on their wedding. He would love to have something overlooking the see, making them feel like they are on top of the world. I also think he would like the big windows and the idea that onlookers could marvel at his S/O but they're separated so they couldn't come and interrupt their day. It's doubtful that any onlooker would ever try though, since the mafia will be there, especially with Mori himself in attendance. Everyone who is supposed to be there, will be well-protected. I think Chuuya would like a high-end venue, but he would definitely read all the reviews beforehand to make sure that everything would be as he expected. Honestly, only the best for his S/O.
The Decorations: Dramatic and Romantic. That's the vibe Chuuya wants for his wedding day. Rose petals will be scattered all over. There WILL be red wine fountains and dark chocolate fountains at the reception. And not just any red wine fountain. He is having it custom made to be similar to the free wine fountain in Italy. He wants the guests to have the most memorable experience. No other wedding will compare to his S/O wedding. I think he would like dim lighting but with lots of candlelight at each table, illuminating his S/O face in a warm golden glow.
The Wedding Cake: What Chuuya lacks in height he makes up for in cake. He will get an extremely tall cake with a lot of layers. He can't have the other decorations overshadowing it, so it will be placed in a central area where everyone can see him and his S/O during the cake cutting. He will go with whatever flavor is his S/O's favorite since he cares more about them having the time of their life than about his own tastes. He will make sure that the cake is cleanly decorated and not too gaudy. Again, he wants roses to be everywhere possible, so they will show up on the cake too.
After the Wedding: Chuuya is riding off with his S/O the back of his motorcycle to grab their bags and head to the airport. Tachihara wanted to attach wine bottles to the back of Chuuya's bike, but was stopped by Kouyou, who instead tied beautiful gold and red ribbons along the handles and a few other places. Chuuya didn't tell his S/O where they would be headed, opting to keep it a surprise, but they are headed to the French Riviera to have a week full of romance and each other. Chuuya also brought along their handheld games for the days when his S/O felt like staying in and just playing against him.

Sports Day - Merhayes
Another AO3 prompt where Cormac has a moment with Meredith's kids. who's surprised that they knew him that well.
Meredith wasn’t quite sure who came up with the idea for Grey-Sloan Family Sports Day, but she was going to kill Bailey for agreeing with it. It’s not that she didn’t love her kids and wanted to spend time with. Mer spent a lot of time playing tag with Ellis, in the back garden, kicking a ball around in a lame attempt of soccer with Bailey and helped Zola with some amateur gymnastics but sports day was something else.
Sports day meant egg and spoon races, three legged races and who knew what else. Meredith was not athletic, not by a long shot and would have happily just watched everyone else take part. Unfortunately, her kids had seen the flyer that Amelia had bought home with her and were determined that Meredith took part in every parent race that was being held. She’d tried for a while to convince them that Maggie or Amelia could also take part, but her kids all had her stubborn streak. So, Meredith now found herself signed up to more races that she had ever done in her life.
The day of the event had been cursed with sunshine. Meredith had been hoping for a downpour of rain so the whole thing could get called off, but her kids had run into her bedroom that morning, with Zola yanking the curtain open and lo and behold, sunlight had come streaming in.
When they had made it to the field, Meredith laid out the picnic blanket. Catching the kids before they all ran off, she made sure that they were slathered with sunscreen. The courses were still being set up and families still needed to arrive, so Mer took the opportunity to lay down and close her eyes, using the discarded jackets as a pillow. She was just about ready to drift off when a soccer ball came flying into her side.
“Ooft,” Mer shot upright to see her son with a cheeky grin on his face.
“Sorry, mommy.” Not that Bailey looked or sounded sorry in slightest
He quickly changed to his face to his puppy-dog eyes which reminded her exactly of Derek and all she could do was laugh.
“It’s fine, sweetie but mommy isn’t the goal post.”
“Are you gonna come and join us?” Ellis begged as she ran to join her brother.
“Please, mommy, it’ll be fun!” Zola added in.
One of them she might have been able to say no to, maybe even two but when then three of them got together, she stood no chance. The moment she had become a mother, Meredith had known that she wanted a part of her kids’ lives in a way that her mother never had been. Ellis Grey wouldn’t be seen dead at a family sports day but for Meredith, as much as she had been dreading the actual races, these were the kind of days that she loved most.
Surgery was amazing, the thrill and the rush of adrenaline that she got from it was always going to be one of her favourite feelings, but nothing would beat how she felt when she spent time with her kids. Even when they left the house a mess and drove her crazy, Mer knew that she would give up everything for them.
So, Meredith pushed herself up from her seat, picking up the soccer ball and ran with it. It took her kids a minute to realise what was going on before they ran after her.
“Mommy, that isn’t how you play soccer!” Bailey yelled behind her.
She looked back over at them and laughed, wishing that they would always be this carefree and happy. Eventually she stopped in her tracks and threw the ball to Ellis.
“Come on, Ellie Belle, it’s us against them.”
As she caught the ball, Ellis stuck her tongue out to her younger siblings and as quick as her little legs would take her. A quick look over her should made her see that Bailey was close to catching up with her and out of panic, Ellis quickly launched the ball away from her, to whoever was nearest. Who happened to be the Head of Paediatric Surgery.
“Ellis,” Meredith jogged over to her kids, all three of whom were grinning up at the Irish surgeon. “What did we say about throwing the ball at guests?”
“But Dr Mac isn’t a guest momma, we’re not home!”
Sometimes Meredith wished her kids weren’t that logical but at five-years-old, Ellis had an answer for everything.
“Still, baby, we’ve got to be careful and only throw to people who are in the game.”
“Dr Hayes doesn’t mind. Do you Dr Hayes?” Bailey turned to Cormac who grinned before kneeling with the soccer ball in hand.
“Absolutely not, Bailey but your mother is right, you have to be careful, okay?”
Ellis nodded eagerly at Cormac who gave her a wink.
“And how are you doing, Miss Zola? How did that science project go?”
Beaming, Zola pushed her chest out in pride. “I got the best in the class! Mrs Johnson said it’s the best she’s ever seen!”
“I’m impressed, you’re going to have to show me some time.”
“I could bring it to the hospital, if that okay with you, Mommy?” Zola turned to look at her mom.
Still in a little shock over how well Cormac seemed to know her kids, she managed to nod. “Yeah, sure thing, Zozo. You can bring it with you next time you come into work with me.”
“And how about you, Bailey? Did you manage to make the soccer team?”
Bailey sighed dramatically. “Yeah,” he drew out looking at the ground.
“You don’t seem too happy about that.”
“I am!” Bailey quickly shot back, not wanting Dr Hayes to think that he didn’t enjoy soccer anymore. “But because stuff’s closed, they said we have to wait until the new school year to play.”
“Ahh,” Cormac nodded in understanding, “I see, well that just gives you time to practice over Summer, right? And then you can get even better.”
Not having thought of it that way, Bailey was suddenly very excited about being on the soccer team again.
“Momma said I can start swimming lessons when they open again!” Ellis piped up, not wanting to be left out.
“Oh really,” Cormac smiled and arched an eyebrow. “Is that going to make you a mermaid princess then?”
“Yes!” Ellis started to jump up and down, nearly tripping over her own feet.
Meredith held out her hands to stead her little girl. “Alright you three, why don’t you get the ball back from Dr Hayes and go play, I’ll join you guys in a second.”
“Okay, it was really nice seeing you again, Dr Hayes!” Zola flashed him a bright smile as she took the ball.
“Are you here for sports day? Will you come and play with us later?”
Before Meredith was able to object and say that Cormac probably had better things to do, he replied. “I’m here with my boys and I’m sure they’d love to join us as well if you don’t mind.”
The prospect of having other boys to play was the best news Bailey could have had. “Yes, thank, Dr Hayes! Zola! Zola, guess what?” And with that Bailey was chasing after his sister to tell her his good news.
Ellis was the only one left and Meredith wondered why she hadn’t gone with her brother and sister yet but suddenly Ellis wrapped her arms around Cormac’s neck. “Bye, Dr Mac.” Giggling, she let go and went to join Ellis and Bailey.
Cormac straightened himself to full height, “What?” He saw the curious look on Meredith’s face.
“How do you and my kids know each other so well?”
Chuckling nervously, Cormac answered, “I-uh, spent a lot of time talking to them on video chat when they would ring to talk to you. I hope you don’t mind…”
He was worried that he had overstepped a mark. At the time, he just wanted to help cheer them up. He knew how his sons had been when their mom had been in hospital and at least she had been awake and responsive.
“Mind? No, but I hope you’re ready because they’re going to have a million and one questions whenever they see you.” She was teasing him, but it was also true. Her kids were just an inquisitive as she was.
“Somehow that doesn’t surprise me. You’ve got a great bunch there, Grey. Seem to take after their mother.”

What if there was a Walt Disney Fighting Game? [Video Game Concept]
Note: I am well aware, that Disney would probably never say yes in a million years to this idea. Taking their beloved, child friendly characters and having them fight?!
OH THE HORROR?!
I am also aware there have been concepts for this in the past.
Final Fantasy Dissidia was supposed to be a Kingdom Hearts fighting game, but Nomura felt uncomfortable portraying Disney characters in such a violent atmosphere.
And there are sketches of what a Walt Disney fighting game could've been, inspired by Super Smash Bros, before it was canceled. It would've focused on more violent characters such as Gaston, Beast, Ursula, Captain Hook, Captain Silver and the Horned King. But the idea was dropped.
Here's the link.
This entire post is just building and putting together what a Disney fighting game would look like to me, if one came out in today's world. It's all merely speculation and ideas that's been in the back of my head for awhile.
(Special thanks to @mayflower-gal for helping me set this up. 😁)
Anyways, let's get started!
Part 1: The Plot
For the plot, I believe it would have to be something simple, since this an idea for a first game. It's the start of a potentially huge franchise, so I wanna keep it not only simple, but an aspect that helps kick off the potential series. And pull in many fans, old and new of Disney.
Let's take into account one thing: what's a recurring theme across various Disney movies (and overall media)?
Is it the lovable, comic relief sidekick that makes audiences laugh? Is it the songs that kids find themselves singing, long after the tale is done and the curtain has closed? Is it perhaps, the clever celebrity choices for important side characters?
No, It's the one defining aspect that draws in audiences, both new and old, bringing you to fall in love with the characters as the story is told:
Wishes.
Pinocchio wishes to be a real boy. Beast and all his servants wish to be human again. Tiana wishes to have her own restaurant. Ariel wishes to see the world beyond the sea.
Everyone wishes for something more in their life and have dreams that they wish come true.
What if all those wishes were counted? Collected?
Watched over. Much like a parent to their children. Or a teacher to their students.
Found engaging. Found entertaining. Found comforting. Found peaceful. Found introspective.
Looked at with childlike wonder and glee when accomplished.
But frowned on when those wish for selfish desires. And an even deeper disappointment at those very same inhuman desires, coming true.
Good and bad exists inside every person, it's just a matter of what one chooses to act on and stand by at the end of the day.
What someone wishes for is reflective of that.
Now imagine that same being coming to life and wrecking havoc across the Disney universe. Judging for themself, if any of these colorful, imaginative characters, truly deserve their...
Happily,
Ever
After.
Yep, the main plot of the story mode is all the various Disney characters literally fighting for wishes and dreams to come true...
against the LITERAL embodiment of wishing upon a star.
Each playable character having their own unique ending.
Some endings being repeats of your favorite Disney movies, with some minor changes to acknowledge the game's plot. While others are original due to the wide cast of characters that are available, besides your favorite Disney Heroes.
For example, you beat the story mode as say, Pinocchio, he wishes to be a real boy.
I know it sounds very redundant since a majority of these things already happen in the Disney movies, but I feel as though relieving them would be fun. In addition to some original ones that didn't happen with either the villains or less major characters.
It's only the hypothetical first game and I wanted start with something simple, that fans could easily get into. More complex plots, with more character interactions should be saved for any possible sequels.
Part 2: The Gameplay
The game would be your typical 2D fighting game. You have,
Combos exclusive to every character that requires practice.
Playstyles that make each character feel unique.
Special moves for each character to get the upper hand and the main focus in besting your opponent in 1 VS 1 matches.
Of course, there's dialogue before fights in the character intros. With so many to pick from, it had to be put in somewhere.
It resembles 2D fighting games that you've all no doubt heard of, such as Marvel VS Capcom or Street Fighter.
But what would a Disney fighting game have to offer on the table, in order to survive the overall video game market?
It would have to be something unique and a feature that not only gives it originality, but a chance to stand out with so much creativity and innovation. Practically begging fans for more.
Which is why I present to you: Disney Songs.
Or as this game prompt will call them: Musical Finales.
The highlight of many Disney movies and overall media, the music is what leaves a lasting impression on many audiences. Which is not surprising, since Disney is mostly a musical. At least in terms of most of their films.
With so many iconic songs from throughout the company's history, of course I'll be squeezing them somehow!
Each character has a music meter, that can only be filled up with how the player times and follows the beat of the character they play as. Follow the rhythm and beat of a character, and it will fill up quicker. Get cut off by the opponent and it doesn't fill up.
That beat being the music of the stage each player fights on, by attacking to the music and the same time. Think of it like the Sound Battles mechanic in Mother 3.
Every character has four different kinds of attacks: Neutral, Musical, Wonderful and Special.
Neutral Attacks are normal attacks that are mostly used to set up combos.
Musical Attacks are attacks that deal more impact, when timed with the music of the stage.
Wonderful Attacks can be seen as character oriented attacks, that embody the personality and charm of the character you play as. And can be used to entertain the audience. We'll get into that later.
Special Attacks are unique finisher moves that require a separate meter to be filled up, as with most fighting games.
Now what happens when the music meter is full? A Disney Song starts playing of course!
Say you filled up Cinderella's music meter for example, then "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" starts playing, granting some unique abilities for Cinderella.
Each song would grant different outcomes and bonuses for the various characters. They're not Special Attacks, as that's already a separate mechanic already.
For example, "Part of Your World" starts playing if you're playing as Ariel, filling up the stage with water and slowing down the opponent, giving Ariel a chance to either take advantage of that, bump items into them or create big waves of water.
But what happens if BOTH characters trigger the music meter at the same time?!
Well, that's where this gimmick becomes a fight for which song keeps on playing!
Both songs would start playing, both at the same time and volume. Except, both characters have to compete to see which is stronger.
This is done by the two characters fighting, before triggering a rhythm game between the two. Once one is the victor, the other song fades, while the other stays playing. Doubling the duration of that character's Musical Finale.
Another mechanic is the Entertainment Meter. Every level you fight on has one, that determines which fighter the audience likes more. Via Wonderful attacks, you can charm the audience into supporting you more. This activates things like getting healing items or stat boosts in power and speed. Some of your favorite Disney sidekicks even provide aid from the audience!
It's almost like watching a Disney movie live and being able to interact with the story!
Or the battle system in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
I feel as though this is the best way of keeping the game interesting, giving it an identity of its own and still embodying that magic people will grow to love. It can also lead to some entertaining interactions in the background or foreground of a stage, as the music meter also brings in characters that would not be playable, but support playable characters nonetheless. Like Flounder and Sebastian.
Of course, either feature could be turned off if you're not a fan of that sort of thing, but that's a given.

Part 4: The Roster
The bread and butter of many fighting games, the roster is no doubt one I had a bit of trouble putting together. With so many characters from over the years, it's no surprise. But since this is the outline of a possible first game, here's my interpretation.
Also, the cast is big to avoid being too barren or dull.
And because I had a lot of fun putting it all together.
Mickey Mouse (Mickey Mouse): The all around character of the game, he mostly fights by a series of cartoonish tricks, magic tricks and his paintbrush from Epic Mickey. His Special Attack would have him break the fourth wall like and rewind the fight like an old film projector in reverse. Except he heals, while the opponent receives twice the damage. His Musical Finale "Sorcerer's Apprentice" has him use Yensid's Sorcerer hat to its fullest and give his overall moveset more flashes to distract the opponent and slow them down.
Donald Duck (Donald Duck): Everyone's favorite, greedy mallard and the world's angriest duck. Donald would fight mainly with toon force, his fists, his bad luck and his anger. The more damage he takes, the angrier he gets. His Special Attack would have him don the Duck Avenger persona from his PK days and use a series of superhero gadgets to finish the opponent. His Musical Finale "The Three Caballeros" trades his anger for Jose Carioca and Panchito Pistoles showing up, making him happy. As they hurt the opponent, each time they hit Donald, to keep him happy.
Goofy (Goofy): Everyone's favorite Disney dad, Goofy joins the fight as not the brightest but with the biggest heart. He has toon force to aid him in some unconventional ways. His Special Attack would have him become Super Goof from his older days. His Musical Finale "Eye To Eye" would restore health everytime he dodges an attack, with a dancing flair to it.
Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Dwarves): The first Disney Princess, Snow White makes her debut and she's not alone. The Seven Dwarves direct most of her attacks, such as tossing rocks, mining tools as weapons and even just grabbing the opponent and tossing them. Snow White herself can sing and command woodland animals to tie up opponents or just fight to defend her. Her Special Attack would have the Dwarves try to roll a boulder, only for lightning to strike on the opponent and the boulder as extra damage. Her Musical Finale "Whistle While You Work" will call on a huge number of forest animals, as they tidy up the stage and Snow White, slowly replenishing her health and slowing down the opponent.
Pinocchio (Pinocchio): Don't lie in his presence, as that nose is not only for show. Pinocchio fights mostly by using his nose as a staff, the Blue Fairy bringing other toys to life to aid him and Jiminy Cricket distracting the opponent with music. Pinocchio's Special Attack would have him wish upon a star and turn himself into a real boy, as the opponent is turned into a puppet and loses damage as a result. Pinocchio's Musical Finale "I've Got No Strings" would cover the stage in thin lines used for puppets: if the opponent touches one, their frozen briefly. If a projectile attack hits, the same happens.
Cinderella (Cinderella): The bell of the ball and someone whom never gives up on kindness, Cinderella will use the dance moves she showed off at the ball for her moveset, having a dancing and musical feel to how she plays and flashy dances to win against the the opponent. With her Fairy Godmother using her magic to help her, such as flashes of light. Her Special Attack would have the clock strike midnight and she leaves behind her glass slipper: once the opponent touches it they get weighed down by a giant magic dress. Cinderella's Musical Finale "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" would have the Fairy Godmother cast a series of spells over the stage, as a new carriage pops up every time Cinderella pulls off a combo. The carriages run over the opponent and can even carry Cinderella to safety.
Peter Pan (Peter Pan): Leader of the Lost Boys and Captain Hook's second biggest pain in the butt, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell are here. Peter Pan has a pocket knife with him and Tinker Bell's pixie dust for aerial attacks. His Special Attack would have him toss a bunch of gold on the opponent, as the rest of the Lost Boys tackles them and beats them up for the treasures. His Musical Finale "You Can Fly" would create a trail of pixie dust behind him, that randomly causes the opponent to either jump too high or too low.
Captain Hook (Peter Pan): Keep all 'ticks' and 'tocks' away from this pirate! Captain Hook has a wide array of hooks to switch between, a flintlock pistol and his sword to win the battle. His Special Attack would have him run away from the Tick-Tock the Crocodile, as said crocodile attacks the opponent instead of Hook. His Musical Finale "A Pirate's Life/Elegant Captain Hook" would call his ship the Jolly Rodger onto the stage, as the pirates on the ship occasionally throw knives at the opponent and shoot at them, everytime Hook is caught in a combo and can't escape.
Aurora (Sleeping Beauty): Aurora, sleeping beauty herself, is doing anything but sleep and her guardians are making sure of that! Her attacks has the Good Fairies use their magic in numerous ways, such as moving objects, animating objects and even petrification. Her Special Attack has Prince Philip show up with the Sword of Truth and the Shield of Virtue, to deal heavy damage on the opponent. Her Musical Finale "Once Upon A Dream" boosts her stats everytime she's hit.
Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty): The Mistress of all Evil, Maleficent uses a wide array of magic powers from cursed, throny vines, to her iconic green fires, she's one tough fighter from a distance. Her Special Attack would have her turn into a dragon and breath fire down on the opponent. Her Musical Finale "Once Upon A Dream" would have her make the opponent more drowsy, each time they hit her, until falling asleep, unless they keep moving.
Robin Hood (Robin Hood): The sly fox of England and one talented theif, this fox focuses on disguises, archery, swordsmanship and woodsmanship to make his way. His Special Attack would have authorities show up to arrest him, as they rain down arrows on the opponent in the process. His Musical Finale "Running Through The Forest" would allow him to dodge all attacks, without needing to hit the controls or input buttons.
Basil of Baker Street (The Great Mouse Detective): World's greatest detective! At least in the mouse world that is. Basil would investigate the stage of the fight, much like a crime scene and even pick up clues that double as weapons, such as a propeller or a mouse trap. His Special Attack would have him investigate a crime scene that hurt the opponent, before pushing them aside as 'worthless' evidence. His Musical Finale "Let Me Be Good To You" would have him require no further evidence and counter each hit with a deduction on his opponent's crime and even stop them from performing combos. Doing damage in the process.
Professor Ratigan (The Great Mouse Detective): Never call him a rat. Ever. This crime boss of the miniature crime world be no stranger to fist fights and gleefully take a swing at your demise, whether it's his fists, cane or traps. If not him, then his minions are more than happy to drown some orphans! His Special Attack would have him call his pet cat, Felicia to devour the opponent. His Musical Finale "The World's Greatest Criminal Mind" would give him more durability to hits, more destruction to the stage and traps cover more range on the stage.
Ariel (The Little Mermaid): Princess of the Sea, everyone's favorite mermaid is ready to explore beyond the sea. Armed with her father's trident, some amazing swimming skills and various sea animals at her command, she's more than ready. Her Special Attack would have her conjure a giant wave, that also covers the opponent in sea creatures. Her Musical Finale "Part Of Your World" fills the stage with water and can have Ariel bump floating objects into the opponent.
Ursula (The Little Mermaid): The last sea witch you would want to cross paths with, Ursula has eels to do her biding, poisonous ink clouds and even thunderclouds. Her Special Attack would have her turn giant via King Triton's trident and use the added power to attack the opponent. Her Musical Finale "Poor Unfortunate Souls" has her disguise herself as the opponent and slowly regain health from all souls being eaten by her. As a bonus, if she's infront of a mirror that's on the stage, her reflection will be her true form.
Belle (Beauty and the Beast): My, quite an odd girl, reading books and getting on the field of battle?! Belle's entire moveset would revolve around books; not magic books, just books on the rest of the cast and fairytales overall. She would be able to switch between each of these books and use what she's learned from them. For Example, 'Romeo and Juliet' gives Belle immunity to stat changes and rose themed weapons that hurt the opponent, like throwing weapons. 'Aladdin' gives her a magic ring that can conjure up magic smoke, furniture on the foe and teleport her. 'Jack and the Beanstalk' plants vines that can raise her up or entangle the foe. There's more books at her disposal, but that's just the general idea. Her Special Attack has her father ride in on his invention, chopping up an entire forest until the opponent is covered and crushed by chopped up logs. Her Musical Finale "Tale As Old As Time" gives her the power to 'skip' a fairytale, turning each of her attacks into the endings from the books. For example, 'Aladdin' would trap the opponent in an oil lamp, leaving room for her to attack.
Beast (Beauty and the Beast): The poor and cruel prince, turned into a monster as evil as the one in his heart. Beast has his boost in strength from his beastly form and claws to defeat the opponent. The curse not only affected him: his servants are by his side. Lumiere can incinerate the opponent or plant fires on the ground, Cogsworth can distract them with timed clock sounds, Mrs. Potts can spill tea to slip up the opponent, Chip will knock over bookshelves and Wardrobe can block attacks. His Special Attack would turn the opponent into a piece of furniture, leaving them open for attacks: each opponent having a different transformation. His Musical Finale "Be Our Guest" would have every attack with one of his servants, also heal Beast in addition to hurting the opponent.
Gaston (Beauty and the Beast): Nooo oooone's slick as Gaston! Quick as Gaston! No one's neck is as incredibly thick as Gaston! He's especially good at combo breaking! Boy what a guy that Gaston! Gaston has his inconic blunderbass and his fists, along with a bow and quiver and a hunting knife to deal with an opponent, almost as if they were an animal he's hunting. His Special Attack would have an angry mob charge at the opponent and beat them up. His Musical Finale "Gaston" gives him a strength boost, everytime he pulls off a combo successfully.
Aladdin (Aladdin): Everyone's favorite street rat and theif, he's not alone on the field of battle as Abu and Genie are here to help him. Abu can cling to the opponent and hit them repeatedly, Magic Carpet can be used for aerial attacks, Aladdin has a sword that he 'borrowed' from a guard and Genie can shape-shift in a variety of ways to best the opponent. Aladdin's Special Attack would have Genie distract the opponent, as Aladdin steals something off them and uses it to beat them. Aladdin's Music Finale "Friend Like Me" would have Genie grant a wish, each time Aladdin gets a combo, such as a stat boosts and healing.
Jasmine (Aladdin): The sultan's own daughter that would rather be anything than a prize to be given away. She has learned self defense skills, her father's guards and her pet tiger Rajah in her moveset. Her Special Attack would have the guards arrest the opponent and toss them into prison, as they struggle to escape and take damage. Her Musical Finale "A Whole New World" has one the Seven Wonders of the world occasionally pop up in the background to hurt the opponent, as the fight goes on.
Jafar (Aladdin): The Sultan's Royal vizer of Agrabah and one whom believes he should rule Agrabah. Jafar has his magic staff to hypnotize and cast spells onto his foe. Occasionally tapping into the phenenomal, Cosmic power of his Genie form to do some real damage. And Iago is here as well... mostly to complain. His Special Attack would have him become an all powerful Genie and Iago wishing for ways to 'hurt' (not kill) the opponent. His Musical Finale "You're Only Second Rate" would boost all of his stats and attacks, except he can't KO the opponent until the Musical Finale is done.
Simba (The Lion King): King of the Pride Rock and son of Mufasa, the Lion King himself is more than prepared with his claws and iconic roar. His roar can even control the weather to strike lightning and cause windstorms. His Special Attack would have him call on the spirit of his father, Mufasa, as the two of them roar at the opponent. His Musical Finale "Circle Of Life" will have him remember, how we are all connected and draw on the life-force of nature, slowly healing him and giving his roars more range.
Scar (The Lion King): Mufasa's little brother and King after his timely demise, Scar has his claws and his hyenas to make short work of his foe as if their nothing more than a light snack. His Special Attack would toss the opponent of a cliff, into a Wildebeest stampede just like in the movie. As a bonus, he would say 'long live the king's son' if Simba is the opponent. His Musical Finale "Be Prepared" has him do damage without needing to attack the opponent and just walking into the opponent.
Pocahontas (Pocahontas): Daughter of Chief Powhatan, this Disney Princess has the skills necessary in order to survive and win. Her Special Attack would have her people come in to fight alongside her and best the opponent. Her Musical Finale "Colors Of The Wind" gives her attacks more launching power and each dodge she does generates winds that hurt the foe.
Governor John Ratcliffe (Pocahontas): The main villain of Pocahontas, this greedy scoundrel will do anything to claim what he believes is rightfully his. He has a sword and uses his position of power to call his men into the fray. His Special Attack would have his men charge like in the movie at the opponent. His job as the ringer of the bells comes in handy to stun them, swing bells at them, his talented acrobatic skills and surprising strength. His Musical Finale "Out There" turns all of his bell attacks, into soothing sounds, that heals him.

Tiana and Naveen (The Princess and the Frog): A hardworker that believes the only way you can make it in the world, is through hardwork. Even if that meant kissing a frog. Tiana has a wide assortment of cooking utensils to win. With Naveen distracting them with singing and dancing. They can switch to being frogs, where they use their tongues to tangle up the opponent and hop off lily pads. Their Special Attack has Mama Odie turn the opponent into a series of animals, before sending them away with her Voodoo magic. Their Musical Finale "Almost There" gives Tiana a golden glow that greatly increases the range of their attacks and distracts the opponent with golden glows.

Rapunzel (Tangled): The lost princess of the Kingdom of Corona, blessed with magic hair and has quite the efficient frying pan. Her hair can not only heal herself a bit, but can be swung from, tie up the opponent and makes for a surprising whip. Her Special Attack has Flynn and Maximus ride in, with Rapunzel hitching a ride, as the three take down the opponent. Her Musical Finale "I See The Light" fills up the stage with lanterns, that can blind the opponent if they touch any.
Hiro and Baymax (Big Hero 6): The child genius and the helper robot turned fighter have become quite the crime fighting duo, that honor Tadashi's wish of wanting to help people. Baymax does the fighting, with Hiro on his back, such as martial arts, rocket fist, an energy blade and sonic blaster. Their Special Attack calls in the rest of the Big Hero 6, as they teamup and take down the opponent. Their Musical Finale "Immortals" assuming they get the rights to the song has Baymax dodge every attack that comes, without needing to move the controller and slowly heal up.

Elsa has ice powers to freeze the opponent, create pillars of ice, ice slides, ice skates etc. Her Special Attack calls in Marshmallow to deal with the opponent. Her Musical Finale "Let It Go" allows her ice powers to come to life and aid her in battle.
Moana (Moana): Moana of Motuni, whom has sailed the sea to return the Heart of Te Fiti with Maui. She has a harpoon and an oar, along with the ocean helping her and watching over her. Her Special Attack returns the Heart of Te Fiti to Te Fiti, whom fully heals Moana, temporarily boosting her attack. Moana's Musical Finale "How Far I'll Go" covers the stage in water that has boats to hit the opponent and granting Moana faster speed.
Maui (Moana): The Maori Demigod of the wind and sea, with quite the number of feats from over the years. With his magic fish hook, he can shapeshift into a number of animals, his most common being a hawk. His Special Attack being lassoing the sun into the opponent. His Musical Finale "You're Welcome" makes all damage to Maui, take longer to leave an impact.
And that's that. A LOT longer than I thought it would be. Now your probably thinking, what about all the other Disney media? It's an idea for the first game, so other characters (Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Scrooge McDuck, Goliath, Kim Possible, etc.) would appear in a potential sequel.
Or DLC, since every game these days has it.
Thanks so much for reading all this and taking the time to do! I would love to hear some thoughts and feedback! I had a blast making all this and would like to see if you're interested in hearing more video game ideas.

Candle on the Water
First, thank you to the amazing and wonderful @positivelydetectivecomics for not just editing but also being my #1 fan girl and fellow Tom Hiddleston/Thomas Sharpe groupie. Second, this has to be one of the longest things I’ve ever written. It’s like twenty pages. I’m so shocked I managed to write this much! Anyways, this is a Little Mermaid AU for Crimson Peak because I want Thomas to be happy goddamnit.
The title is from the song Candle on the Water from Pete’s Dragon.
~*~
The ocean had always fascinated and terrified Thomas. It was vast, deep and endless. There was no way humans would ever be able to search the entirety of it. It offered up many beauties but also horrors. That didn’t mean he didn’t find it beautiful. He just preferred to enjoy it from the beach, not on a boat.
Boats made him nervous. Being an engineer, he could appreciate the beauty of a design but he didn’t think humans were meant to float. Plus, he got seasick. Why had he agreed to this forsaken cruise? Lucille was nowhere to be seen but he honestly preferred to be alone right now. Her presence had become smothering. He had known that sooner or later this farce of a relationship would have to end and he could see the end in sight. Avoiding her wasn’t his best strategy but he still needed time to think. How could he tell his sister that he was done with her?
I'll be your candle on the water
My love for you will always burn
I know your lost and drifting,
But the clouds are lifting
Don't give up you have somewhere to turn
Thomas lifted his head, scanning the ocean. Singing, someone was singing. It was a song he had never heard but it was the most melodic thing he had ever heard. But he was confused. The voice was coming from the water. That was impossible unless it was a really talented manatee. There were no islands for miles and they weren’t even remotely close to the shore. Was this a trick?
I'll be your candle on the water
Till every wave is warm and bright
My soul is there beside you,
Let this candle guide you
Soon you'll see a golden stream of light
Confusion was replaced with curiosity. Thomas scanned the ocean, desperate to find the source of the song. He walked along the deck, his eyes never leaving the waters. Then, he spotted it. Sitting on a rock, he saw a woman with her eyes up to the sky and her mouth opened.
A cold and friendless tide has found you
Don't let the stormy darkness pull you down
I'll paint a ray of hope around you
Circling in the air, lighted by a prayer
The boat was getting closer and Thomas gasped when he got a better look. It wasn’t a woman, it was a mermaid. She had no legs but a dark, blue tail of scales. Her long hair was in a braid with seashells and starfish. Around the rock were a group of fish and a few other sea creatures, all listening to her song. He wasn’t sure why he did but Thomas stood on the railing. Her voice was so pure and rich, he had to hear more.
I'll be your candle on the water
This flame inside of me will grow
Keep holding on, you'll make it
Here's my hand so take it
Look for me reaching out to show
As sure as rivers flow,
I'll never let you go
I'll never let you go
I'll never let you go
Her song was done and Thomas’ heart felt heavy. Then, she looked away from the sky and their eyes met. Thomas wanted to say something, anything but at that moment, he lost his footing and fell into the water.
~*~
You dove right into action when you saw the human hit the water.
Humans were not born natural swimmers like mermaids were. They had to be taught how to swim and some of them never learned the skill. They also didn’t possess gills or any means of breathing underwater. This human could drown without your help and as you dove under the water, you could see him struggling. The poor thing was terrified.
You swam to him and when you reached him, you saw the fear in his eyes. Instantly, you felt bad. He had been listening to you, that was why he was standing on that large, metal thing and he had slipped. How foolish were you? Without wasting a moment, you grabbed him and swam back up to the surface. He gasped for air, desperate to fill his lungs.
“Easy, easy,” You rubbed his back.
The humans on the metal contraption were in a tizzy; they were searching for him, you suspected. There had to be a way to get him back to where he belonged without you getting spotted. As you thought, you felt the human’s eyes on you and you turned to face him. His fear was gone and was replaced by adoration. It was odd but you felt a bit shy suddenly.
“You’re a mermaid,” He said.
“Yes,” You said. “And you’re a human.”
“You’re beautiful.”
You felt your face flush. Other merfolk had told you that you were beautiful, you were the king’s daughter after all. So, why did this human make you feel weak? The thought was pushed to the back of your mind when you came up with a solution to your predicament.
“Oberon,” You said.
“What?” He asked.
Around your neck was a shell necklace; in the middle was a small, blue conch shell with holes drilled into it. You placed the tip of it into your mouth and then blew into it. The human watched you, entranced by everything you did.
“What is that?” He asked.
“It’s how I call my friends,” You said. “Oberon should be here any minute.”
“Is he a friend of yours? Is he a merperson like you? How did you meet him?”
“You ask a lot of questions,” You said, smiling.
“I’m sorry but---I thought mermaids were a myth,” He said. “And I’ve never met such a captivating creature before in my life.”
Again, familiar words but your heart swelled at this.
“Do you have a name?” He asked, his eyes scanning every inch of your face.
“Y/N. Do you have one?”
“Thomas. Thomas Sharpe.”
Before you could ask anymore questions, a large tentacle poked out of the ocean. Thomas screamed but you quickly covered his mouth.
“No, it’s okay,” You told him. “This is Oberon. He’s going to help you back onto your---floating island.”
“You can talk to a giant octopus?” Thomas asked. “That’s incredible I---wait, you mean you’re leaving?”
He sounded disappointed. Guilt returned to you but you knew you were doing the right thing.
“I have too, it’s too dangerous,” You said. “If someone else were to find me, they’d gut me like a fish or worse.”
“Will I ever get a chance to see you again?” He asked.
“It’s probably better to forget about me,” You gave him a sad smile. “Goodbye, Thomas.”
You placed a chaste kiss on his cheek and dove back into the water. Oberon wrapped a tentacle around Thomas’ waist and soon, he was gone. Sighing, he delved deeper into the depths towards your home, thinking he’d forget about the experience completely.
~*~
Thomas didn’t forget.
When Y/N had swum away, he was ready to go after her He was no match for Oberon though; the massive octopus placed him back on the boat as if it was nothing. He watched as the tentacles receded into the water, leaving him behind. He wanted to throw himself back into the water to swim after her but it was a foolish idea. Y/Nwere faster than him, how would he catch up to her?
Lucille had found him and she was furious, blaming everyone from the captain to the cook. Thomas let her fret over him but his mind was elsewhere. A mermaid; he had met a real life mermaid named Y/N. The fairy tales he had read as a child hadn’t done Y/N justice; she was a million times more beautiful than anything in any book. The rest of the trip felt like a blur to him. Lucille didn’t let him out of her sight. This would have annoyed him but he was more focused on finding Y/N again. Each day was spent on the deck, praying and hoping he’d hear her golden tone again. Lucille pestered him, asking him what he was looking for but he never told her. Would she believe him? Who cared about that, he was worried about Y/N’s safety.
“If someone else were to find me, they’d gut me like a fish or worse.”
Lucille was the or worse. Thomas longed to see Y/N again but he couldn’t stand the thought of Lucille discovering her. She would take such joy in destroying the beautiful maid. Even if he ever saw her again,he would do all in his power to make sure Lucille would never find out.
They returned to land two days later. Lucille was doing everything in her power to get Thomas’ attention back.
“Thomas, you need to stop daydreaming and focus again,” Lucille nagged. “I don’t know what happened that night but it seems to have affected you more than you’re letting on.”
“I’m fine,” He lied. “I wished you’d believe me.”
“You know I can tell when you’re lying,” Lucille grabbed his hand. “I know you too well.”
She was right but that didn’t change anything. Thomas couldn’t remember how or when he realized the relationship he had with his sister was wrong. No, not wrong; twisted. Loving his sister in that way had been wrong but he hadn’t stopped it or even tried until now. Meeting Y/Nh had just made him want to distance himself from Lucille even more.
When they reached home, Thomas still found himself distracted. He tried to work on his machine but it was impossible. He was dying to see Y/N again. The only issue was he had no idea how to find her. He felt hopeless; would he ever be able to find her again? Thinking of being unable to reunite with Y/N filled him with dread. For days, he felt aimless. Two weeks after the trip, he decided to take a ride to clear his mind.
Thomas found himself drawn to the beach. It was hopeless but he thought that maybe he’d be able to spot a glimpse of her again. He had the carriage stop and he popped out, surveying the land before him. He stopped when he saw something on the beach; a body. Confusion filled him as he headed down on the warm sand and walked towards the unmoving person. His heart nearly stopped when he realized who it was.
“Y/N?”
Carefully, he turned the woman on her back. Yes, it was Y/N. He caressed her face and her eyes fluttered open. When she saw him, she managed a weak smile.
“What are you doing here?” he asked.
“I didn’t want to forget,” she replied.
~*~
Thomas wrapped you in his coat and helped you walk towards his carriage. You stopped when you saw the two huge, black creatures.
“What are those?” You asked, scared.
“They’re just horses,” Thomas said. “They’re beasts of burden we use in our day to day life.”
“They’re so big,” You said. “They look like they want to eat me.”
“It’s alright,” Thomas assured you. “Watch.”
He made a clicking noise with his tongue and the horses looked his way. He reached out, rubbing the snout of one. You watched with awe, amazed that such large creatures would bend to him. The horse noticed you and you shrank away but Thomas took your hand in his. Then, he carefully placed it on the horse’s snout.
“It’s soft,” you said, “I thought they would vanish. They look like they’re made of shadows.”
Thomas chuckled at this and you smiled. You ignored the looks of the driver as Thomas helped you into the carriage. Fascinated by this new mode of transportation, you sat down and ran your hands over the cushions of the seats. Thomas sat down next to you, watching you as you felt the fabric.
“Y/N?”
You looked at him.
“How---how are you here?” He asked.
“It’s a rather long story,” You said.
“I’d love to hear it.”
So, you told him. You told him about how after meeting him, you kept thinking of him. No matter what you did, you couldn’t forget him and it was driving you mad. Your sisters had noticed and asked what was wrong but you lied, telling them you were thinking about how you wanted a new seashell necklace. After two weeks, you decided enough was enough and you had to do something about it.
You had to see Thomas again.
Under the cover of night, you snuck off into the deepest, darkest waters to the home of Morwenna, the sea witch. After explaining your problem, she told you she would help you but she warned you it was dangerous.
That part you didn’t tell Thomas. You didn’t want him to know what giving up your tail would potentially cost. Or that if he didn’t feel anything for you, you’d turn into seafoam.
Morwenna had one of her anglerfish take you towards the surface along with a potion and a sack full of jewels. According to the witch, humans had to ‘pay’ for things. The jewels would help you do so. Once you drank the liquid, your tail started to split and you felt imessnese pain. It was so bad that you blacked out. You think the angelfish pushed you towards the shore but you weren’t sure. As you told Thomas this, he never took his eyes off of you.
“I’m so happy to see you again,” he said, “These past two weeks have been such a nightmare.”
“They have?”
“I’ve done nothing but think of you,” he admitted.
“Then I made your life miserable.” You felt awful.
“No, don’t think that! I can’t explain it but meeting you--it’s changed me,” Thomas turned your face to look at him. “You have no idea how happy I am that you’re here.”
“So you’re not upset?”
“No. Although I wish you had been able to contact me,” Thomas smiled. “I could have brought you a dress.”
“A what?”
You soon learned what a dress was. The carriage arrived in town and once you saw other people, you pressed your face against the window. There were so many people, dressed in such odd fabrics. Thomas stopped the carriage and told you to wait for him. You pouted at first but he promised you’d be able to leave the carriage soon. Not wanting to upset him, you agreed to wait. A few minutes later, Thomas returned with two women.
“Hello!” you greeted them happily.
“Oh you poor thing!” one of them said, “Look at the state you're in.”
“I’m not poor or a thing,” you said but they ignored you.
“Come here dearest, we’ll get you cleaned up and we’ll find something proper for you to wear.”
You were confused and looked at Thomas. He gave you a small nod. Well, if he trusted these humans, you trusted them. They helped you out of the carriage, making sure Thomas' coat covered all of you and ushered you into a building. They took you towards the back and gave you a simple ‘dress’ to wear. You stared at it, wondering what to do with it. It was such an odd thing, why did humans wear them?
“Here dearie,” One of them said. “Let me help you.”
You were thankful for the help. Once you were dressed, they began to ‘measure’ you. Measuring involved some long, yellow thing and a lot of notes. Curious, you grabbed at the yellow item and tugged at it.
“What is it?” You asked, holding it up.
“A measuring tape dear. Poor thing, your amnesia must be terrible. You don't remember anything.”
“I do remember things! I remember my name, it’s Y/N,” You said. “And who are you?”
“I’m Miss Chatterly and this is my daughter Elizabeth,” The elder of the two said. “Now stand still darling. We’re going to get your measurements and find you a dress.”
“Must I wear a dress?”
“Of course dear, you want to be a proper woman, don’t you?”
You thought about this for a second.
“If I’m a proper woman, will Thomas like me?” you asked.
“I think he already likes you, my sweet,” Miss Chatterley chuckled. “I’ve seen the way he looks at you, he’s obviously smitten.”
Smitten: you liked that word. You tried to be obedient and not move but everything was so interesting! Thankfully, Miss Chatterley and Elizabeth were patient as well as they were kind. After taking your measurements, Elizabeth went to start working on some dresses while Miss Chatterley found something for you to wear in the meantime. It was a gorgeous deep blue with white pearl buttons and black, lace detail on the back. While you didn’t understand the point of dresses, it was pretty.
“It’s beautiful!” You said. “I love it!”
You needed some help walking out to Thomas. Walking was already hard enough but the dress made this difficult. Why did the women on the surface torture themselves like this? But you had to be proper. Only a proper lady could win Thomas’ heart. Thomas smiled when he saw you.
“You look beautiful,” he said.
“I feel beautiful if not a bit strange,” you replied. “The colors remind me of the ocean.”
“Now be careful dearest,” Miss Chatterley said, “It seems like you’ve forgotten how to walk too.”
“I’ve never walked before! I can’t forget something I never learned,” you said.
“You were right, Sir Thomas,” Miss Chatterley tutted, “That bump on the head must have really scrambled her noggin.”
“Indeed it has,” Thomas said, taking your hand, “I found her passed out and naked on the beach. I have no idea what happened to her but I vowed to make sure she was taken care of.”
That wasn’t a total lie but you were confused. Why did everyone keep talking about your head? You took the bag of jewels Thomas had been holding and reached into it. You pulled out a large sapphire and placed it in Miss Chatterley’s hand.
“Thank you for my first dress,” you said, wrapping your hand around hers. “I’ll cherish this forever.”
“My dear, this is too much,” she began to protest.
“Please, take it,” you smiled, “I cannot let your kindness go unrewarded.”
“Oh goodness, thank you love,” Miss Chatterley grinned at you.
Thomas led you back out of the building, keeping a firm grip on you as you tried to walk. This was frustrating; Thomas made it look so easy.
“Here, watch my legs,” he said. “It’s one foot in front of the other.”
“It still feels peculiar,” you said, “It’s not like swimming at all. How come it’s so easy for you?”
“Well, I had to learn as well,” Thomas said, leading you back to the carriage. “You see, when humans are babies, we can’t walk at all. We start off by crawling, then we push ourselves up and start to toddle.”
“That’s fascinating! Tell me more,” you said. “Please? I want to learn more about humans. And I have questions too. Why did you tell Miss Chatterley I bumped my head?”
“Into the carriage first and then I’ll tell you more,” Thomas said.
You obeyed and got back into the carriage. It started again but instead of staring out the window, you leaned against Thomas. He tensed a bit before putting an arm around you.
“I remember you said that it was dangerous if anyone were to find out that you’re a mermaid,” he said. “So in order to not arouse suspicion, I told them you had bumped your head and gotten amnesia. It’s a condition where people lose their memory. That way no one would think you were odd for not understanding certain concepts.”
“Like dresses?”
“Yes, like dresses,” he chuckled, “Do you really dislike it?”
“No but it’s hard to move in,” you said. “But it’s what a proper lady does so I must wear one. What else does a proper lady do?”
“In all honesty, I prefer you just the way you are,” he said.
His words made your heart soar. There was so much you wanted to tell him but you remained silent. Was it proper for a woman to declare how she felt for a man or should she stay quiet? This was all confusing; why couldn’t relationships be easier?
“But what do proper ladies do?” you persisted.
“I suppose I’m the wrong person to answer that,” Thomas said with a smile. “But I suppose we could find someone to help you learn.”
“Like Miss Chatterley? She was so kind. And her daughter,” you said, “How sweet of them to make me dresses!”
“I suppose you could ask them your questions,” Thomas said as the carriage. “Alright, so this is where you’ll be staying.”
You looked out the carriage to see a large building. It was bigger than the other one and there were so many more people. As Thomas helped you out, you couldn’t stop looking at everything. Thomas led you to a human behind a large piece of wood who greeted you both.
“Hello good sir, I was hoping you would have a room for rent,” Thomas said. “I’ll be paying upfront and it’ll be for this young lady.”
“Of course sir,” the man said.
You were given a key and led to a room. Instantly, you were drawn to a large item in the middle of it. You walked over to it and touched it. Oh, it was soft. You got on top of it, finding it was also bouncy.
“What is this?” you asked Thomas.
“A bed,” Thomas said, “You sleep on it.”
“But it’s not made of coral,” you said, “And where are the fish?”
Curious, you crawled over to the edge of the bed and looked down. No, you didn’t see any fish.
“Do mermaids sleep in coral reefs?” Thomas asked.
“Yes and the fish keep us company,” you said, turning back to him, “Will I like a bed?”
“I think you will,” Thomas said smiling, “Will you be content here?”
There was something about his tone that felt off.
“You aren’t going to stay here with me, are you?”
Thomas’ smile vanished.
“I want to stay with you but--I need to keep you safe,” Thomas said, “I can’t explain it right now but there is someone in my life who wouldn't like you.”
“Why?” You asked.
How could someone dislike you if you hadn’t even met them yet? Surely you couldn’t have made this person angry without having done something to them. You waited for Thomas to say something, growing a tad frustrated. Crossing your arms, you sat on the bed and turned your head away from him.
“Y/N,” he said gently. “I have to keep you safe. I promise, I’ll come to see you everyday but for now, please stay here. Where it’s safe.”
“Fine,” you said, not looking at him.
Were you being petty? Maybe, but you came all this way for Thomas. You were risking everything. There was a chance you’d never see your father or sisters again. If Thomas didn’t love you, you’d turn into seafoam and never be able to swim again. Why couldn’t he understand that?
“You can leave now,” you added, still feeling angry.
Thomas walked to you, getting down on his knees.
“Y/N,” he said, taking your hand, “If anything were to happen to you, I'd never forgive myself.”
You stole a glance at Thomas; his blue eyes were shining with sincerity. It was hard to stay angry at him when he looked at you that way. While you wished he’d stay with you, you had to trust him. Thomas was the only human you knew.
“Alright,” you said, “But you’ll come visit me right?”
“Of course,” Thomas said with a smile, “I promise to come back later for dinner but for now, stay put.”
“Okay Thomas.”
~*~
Thomas was enamored and worried at the exact same time.
Of course, he was enamored with Y/N. She was so different from the women around him. She was sweet, friendly and so curious. Constantly, she was asking questions. Other people seemed to fall under her spell as she became interested in everything around her. When he was with Y/N, all the she did was talk about the wonderful things the surface had to offer. Thomas was thankful that he could answer most of her questions.
He was worried because he knew it was only a matter of time before Lucille found out. Lucille’s anger was terrifying. Thomas had never been on the receiving end of it thankfully but he had seen it. She was also a possessive woman; if Lucille saw him with Y/N, he’s not sure what he’d do. Run? Hide her? All he knew was that protecting Y/N was of the utmost importance.
“Thomas, what are they doing?”
It was a nice, sunny day and the pair were walking along the busy streets of England. Y/N stopped to point at a four piece band, playing some music.
“They’re playing music,” He said.
He should have realized she would have been interested and Y/N walked towards the men, completely engrossed. But then she started to sing.
Ah Danny boy, the pipes,
The pipes are calling
From glen to glen,
And down the mountain side
People stopped what they were doing and started to listen to Y/N’s melodic voice. It was amazing how one voice held such power. Thomas beamed as people surrounded her to listen to her perfect voice, his heart almost bursting with joy. The more time he spent with Y/N, the deeper in love he fell. He wanted to tell her so badly how he felt but he kept stopping. He’d have to deal with Lucille first, then he could tell Y/N
Applause rang out once she finished singing. After thanking the musicians, Y/N ran back over to Thomas.
“Oh Thomas, wasn’t that wonderful?” She asked.
“Of course it was,” Thomas said. “Anytime you sing, it’s wonderful. But how did you know the words?”
“I just do,” she replied smiling, “Mermaids have the ability to know all songs but we each have a special one.”
“Like the one you sang the first night we met?” Thomas asked.
“Yes,” she smiled again, making his heart giddy. “We’re each born with a song in our heart. Candle on the Water is mine.”
“It’s a beautiful song,” Thomas said.
“Well,” she blushed, “It’s also a special song. You see---oh nevermind.”
“What? Don’t become shy now,” Thomas teased, “Tell me.”
“Merfolk find their soulmates through song,” she continued, “Our special song is supposed to connect to our soulmate and lead us to them.”
Thomas felt his heart stop. He took hold of Y/N’s hand and she stopped walking.
“By any chance, does the song work on humans?” he asked.
“I---I don’t know,” she replied, fidgeting slightly, “Is there a reason as to why you’re asking?
Thomas swallowed, staring into her eyes. He felt heat course through his body as Y/N closed her eyes and inched closer. Thomas was about to do the same when someone called his name.
“Thomas?”
Thomas’ blood went cold as he turned to see his sister. Lucille said nothing at first, staring at Y/N with a cold, calculating look. Lucille was analyzing Y/N, seeing if she was a threat. Thomas prayed that Y/N would appear weak and helpless; that was the only way she’d be safe. With a tight lipped smile, Lucille looked back at Thomas.
“Who is this?” she asked.
“Oh, this is just an old acquaintance of mine,” Thomas said, laying a protective hand on Y/N. “Y/N, this is my sister Lucille.”
“A pleasure,” Y/N said curtly.
Maybe it was because their romantic moment had been ruined or she sensed Lucille’s venom but Y/N’s usually sunny dispotiston vanished. Thomas wasn’t sure if Lucille bought Thomas' lie but she continued to smile, acting as if everything was fine.
“You’ve never mentioned her before,” Lucille continued, “I would think you’d mention such a good friend of yours.”
“I’m sorry, I must be going,” Y/N said suddenly, “Good day.”
Thomas watched as Y/N bolted down the street. His heart told him to chase after her but his brain told him to stop. If he made a scene, Lucille would realize Y/N was more than a friend. It hurt him to do so but Thomas let Y/N slip away. She looked back once but her eyes were sad.
“Thomas,” Lucille said, “I thought you said you had a meeting today.”
“I did,” Thomas lied, “But the meeting ended early and as I was heading back home, I happened to run into Y/N. We were just talking, remembering the old days.”
“Thomas,” Lucille stepped closer to him, “I know when you’re lying to me. Tell me, who is she?”
“No one you need to worry about,” Thomas said. “Let’s go home.”
~*~
Thomas had mentioned Lucille to you before. She was his sister but Thomas didn’t talk of her lovingly, andhere was something off about their relationship. Thomas hadn’t stated it out right but you weren’t going to push him to talk about it. If he wanted to tell you, he would. Meeting Lucille confirmed your sucsopions about her; she was evil. There was a bad aura around her, you could feel it. Thomas had tensed up when he had heard her voice.
It had been two days since you had last seen Thomas and your heart was heavy. There was only one day left before you’d turn into seafoam. You were standing by the window, looking out towards the ocean. You missed Oberon and regretted not saying goodbye to him when you had the chance. The shell you used to call him was still around your neck, but you hadn’t used it in days. Maybe you could go say goodbye tonight. With another sigh, you grabbed your coat and headed to the door.
You were shocked to find Lucille standing there.
“Lucille,” you said, stepping back.
“Y/N,” Lucille’s voice was icy, “Where are you off to in such a hurry?”
“Oh,” you touched the shell around your neck, “I’ll be leaving town soon. I was going to say goodbye to a friend.”
“How quaint,” Lucille smiled but there was no warmth to it, “And what of Thomas?”
Your heart clenched.
“I don’t want to bother him,” you said, stepping past Lucille, “Excuse me.”
Lucille grabbed your arm, twisting it and making you wince.
“Yet you’ve been bothering him,” Lucille sneered, “Instead of working, he comes here to visit you, doesn’t he? I knew he was hiding something. I know him better than he knows himself, you see. I’ve been with him since the beginning.”
“Lucille, please let go,” you said.
“He needs me,” Lucille continued. “I’m the one who has always protected him. I protected him from mother and everyone else. They tried to take him away from me but we’re meant to be together.”
“What are you talking about?” you tried to get free, “Let me go.”
“You’re a distraction, a commodity, something to entertain him,” Lucille’s eyes looked mad, “But he always comes back to me. No one loves him the way I do.”
Realization hit you like a ton of bricks.
“That’s disgusting!” You managed to get your hand free. “You’re his sister!”
“Who are you to judge us?” Lucille stalked towards you, “You’re a little nothing with no name, no family, no title. You’re just a mysterious whore who has bewitched my brother. How long do you think you’d hide?”
“I’m leaving,” you said, trying to get to the stairs, “I’ll forget about Thomas and never come back.”
“That’s not good enough!”
Lucille grabbed you and turned you around, a knife in her hand. Fear seized your body as she pointed it towards your neck.
“You’re coming with me.”
The streets were barren as Lucille marched you down towards the pier. Tears streamed down your face as you obeyed, your heart twisted and body hurting. Tomorrow would come and you’d be no more. Your father, your sisters and Obreon; you’d never get to see them again. It all hurt but what hurt the most was not being able to see Thomas again. What a fool you had been; all this time and you hadn’t been able to tell him.
You stumbled as you reached the docks. Lucille grabbed you by the hair, forced you up. Your legs felt weak as your bones began to fade. Tears continued to roll down your cheeks as you marched towards your fate. Even if you jumped into the water, you couldn’t swim for long before you transformed into seafoam. How you wished you could call Oberon but with Lucille at your back, you were afraid to make a move.
“You’re going to jump into the water and drown yourself,” Lucille commanded, “In the morning, I’ll tell Thomas that you’ve left. Saddened and heartbroken, he’ll be mine once more.”
Anger filled you; how dare she treat Thomas like an object. This wasn’t love, it was obsession. Maybe you’d die or turn into foam but you wanted to take one more risk. Just one more. Sighing, you opened up your mouth and began to sing.
I'll be your candle on the water
My love for you will always burn
I know your lost and drifting,
But the clouds are lifting
Don't give up you have somewhere to turn
“What are you doing?” Lucille pressed the knife to your back, “Stop that.”
But you didn’t stop. You kept singing. IF the legends were true, Thomas would hear you wherever you were. Even when Lucille pushed the knife into your back, you continued to sing through the pain.
“Lucille, stop!”
You turned around to see Thomas standing behind the two of you. You smiled but Lucille pushed the knife in deeper, making you cry out.
“I won’t stop until she’s dead!” Lucille shouted, “You swore you’d never fall in love with anyone else.”
“I’m sorry Lucille,” Thomas took a step forward, “I---I heard her song.”
It was true. Thomas was your soulmate. Your song had reached him and he had used it to find you. Lucille looked confused but only for a second. Enraged, she took the knife out of your back and you slumped down, unable to stand. The loss of blood and your body changing was too much to bear.
“Are you saying you love her?” Lucille asked.
“Yes,” Thomas got closer, “Lucille, I fell in love with her the moment I heard her song.”
Lucille stared at Thomas, bewildered. Her grip was still on the knife and you realized something; once you were dead, she’d kill Thomas. With what little strength you had, you grabbed the shell and placed it to your lips. Lucille knocked the shell out of your hand and raised the knife to stab you again. You heard Thomas shout her name but it was no use; she was in a blind rage.
“This is all your fault!” she shouted.
Closing your eyes, you braced for impact. Then you heard bubbling in the water. The knife fell from Lucille’s hand and you opened your eyes to see a familiar tentacle. Lucille backed away, terrified as Oberon came out from the depths, his golden eyes filled with anger. The octopus lashed out and grabbed her by the waist, tossing her up like she weighed nothing. Thomas ran to your side, watching as Oberon broke Lucille’s waist. Once she was dead, Oberon threw her into the ocean and got closer to the dock.
“Oh, Oberon,” you said sadly, “I missed you. I’m so sorry I didn’t say goodbye.”
“No,” Thomas grabbed your hand. “Y/N, please don’t talk like that.”
“I’m sorry Thomas,” you said, pressing your head to his. “I’m too late. I never told you that I love you.”
“Too late? What do you mean?”
“She’s talking about the price for her legs,” a familiar voice said.
You turned around to see Oberon held Morwenna the sea witch on one tentacle. The crab woman stepped onto the dock and walked over to you.
“Morwenna?” you asked.
“You see,” Morwenna crouched down, “For a merfolk to stay on the surface with their human love, they must confess their feelings and those feelings must be recioprated. If not, they turn into seafoam.”
“What? Y/N, why didn’t you tell me this sooner?” Thomas asked.
“I didn’t want you to fake your feelings,” you said, “But it’s okay. I made peace with what is going to happen to me.”
“Oh, you needn’t be dramatic dear,” Morwenna reached into a pouch around her waist, “You won’t be going anywhere. Here, eat this.”
Morwenna offered you a pearl and you popped it into your mouth. It burst, releasing a bitter liquid into your mouth. You gagged.
“What was that?” Thomas asked.
“For her wound,” Morwenna said. “Now, stand up dear.”
Your confusion was growing but Morwenna seemed so calm. Thomas stood up and offered his hand. You took it and found your legs were working. In fact, they felt firm.
“I don’t understand,” you said, “I was too late.”
“No, you weren’t,” Morwenna grinned, pointing to Thomas, “His confession saved you.”
“It did? So, can I stay?” you turned to Thomas, “With you?”
“Y/N,” Thomas caressed your face, “From the moment I saw you, I adored you. I’ve been wanting to tell you how much I loved you for days but I was too afraid.”
“Afraid of what?” you asked.
“Afraid of rejection, afraid Lucille would find you,” he said, “But now she’s gone. Please Y/N, stay with me. I love you.”
Oberon suddenly burbled, his big, round eyes tinged with sadness.
“Oh Oberon,” you smiled at him, “I’ll never forget you, how could I? You saved us both. I will visit you, I promise. But my home is on the surface now.”
Oberon reached out his tentacle and rubbed your face. He then playfully grabbed Thomas' hat, pushing it down on his face.
“He’s saying he trusts you,” you told Thomas.
“Well then,” Thomas fixed his hat, “Thank you Oberon. I promise I’ll keep her safe, no matter what the costs.”
“Happy endings all around,” Morwenna said, “I’m so happy things worked out for you dear.”
“But it wouldn’t have been possible without you,” you said, “Thank you. Thank you so much.”
“No thanks are necessary,” Morwenna walked back towards the sea, “I’ll tell your father you're safe. He’ll probably come to visit so be on the lookout. Farewell you two.”
You waved goodbye as Morwenna climbed onto Oberon’s head and they departed. When they were gone, you turned to Thomas.
“I love you,” you said.
“I love you too,” he returned.
And finally, you kissed him.

“And the Oscar goes toooooooo...HARRY STYLES!”
“Stop making fun of me!”
“I’m not!” Y/N plumped down on to the treehouse floor, sitting with her legs crossed as she shook Harry’s arm gently. “Come on. Don’t be so hard on yourself.”
“I’m not being hard on myself. I’m being realistic,” he replied, toying with a yellow leaf he’d found on the floor just to avoid making eye contact as they spoke. Y/N didn’t get why he was embarrassed and so doubtful of himself. She had seen him on stage when he’d been Romeo last year. He was one of the best kid actors and no one could convince her otherwise.
“Your new drama teacher was a meanie,” she huffed, arms folded across her chest.
Harry finally cast her a glance as the corners of his mouth turned up. “You’re not being objective. Mrs Berry was.”
“You’re a kid! Kids are allowed to make mistakes. That’s the only way they can learn and improve. My writing sucks but you don’t see me giving up.”
“Has anyone ever told you your writing sucks?”
“Celine’s brother.”
“He’s an arsehole.”
“Harry!”
“Sorry,” Harry chuckled, lifting both hands. “He’s a bum.”
Y/N didn’t laugh when he did. If her mum and dad knew he cursed all the time, they wouldn’t let her hang out with him anymore. “Well,” she exhaled. “I feel sorry for your teacher. She probably has nothing better to do with her life than crushing kids’ dreams because her dreams had died with her talent when she became a teacher instead of an actress.”
“Are you sure you’re ten years old?” Harry smiled, giving her a look that could be interpreted as either amazed or amused or both.
She’d never told him, but he had one of the best smiles she’d ever seen, which was why she was sure he would become successful. Having a great smile was a great quality for every actor. At least that was what her best friend Celine had told her.
“Are you sure you’re older than me?” she rebutted.
He lifted his shoulders in a half-shrug. “I’m gonna listen to you because you’re a know-it-all.”
She said nothing and launched herself to her feet, clearing her throat. He watched with a confused look on his face when she picked up his water bottle and held it with both hands like the way an actor would hold the Oscar statue.
“Harry is too shy to come on stage and accept this Academy Award,” she said, “so I’m gonna accept it on his behalf. He’d like to thank his family, his drama teacher Mrs Berry, and his biggest fan Y/N aka Bambi. These are the people who helped shape his career.” Harry doubled over laughing as she lifted the water bottle above her head. “Thank you so much for this award. Have a good night, Los Angeles!”
.
.
.
Y/N contemplated her reflection in the full-length mirror while Harry was watching her from the couch on the side. She cast him a sideways glance, to which he responded with a thumbs-up and a grin.
She sucked in a breath, looking back at herself. She looked different. She felt different. She had worn plenty of expensive gowns that didn’t belong to her and attended countless exclusive events with Harry before. But this. This was the Academy Awards. And she was wearing the kind of dress that was meant to turn heads on the red carpet, the kind of dress that models wore on the runway. She used to watch award shows with her best friends all the time, and could never imagine herself pulling off such elegant outfits. But now, she almost looked like she belonged at the Oscars.
She wasn’t wearing any make-up and her hair was in a simple low ponytail, so she knew the dress had done all the work to make her look desirable. Harry’s designer had taken the inspiration from the iconic silver dress in The Little Mermaid, when Ariel returned from the sea and reunited with Prince Eric. Harry had joked that Y/N resembled a fawn more than a princess, and she had smacked him hard on the arm, proving that she was neither.
“Is it too tight?” asked Meili – the designer. She was so kind that Y/N felt like they’d been friends forever. But on second thought, being a professional, it was Meili’s job to make her clients feel most comfortable in and out of her designs.
“No, this is perfect,” Y/N said.
“Are you sure?” She confirmed with a nod. “All right.” Meili patted her gently on the back. “How about we try walking?”
And so Y/N descended the steps and sauntered about the fitting area to make sure she was comfortable and able to breathe normally. Harry had risen from the sofa and come to stand beside Meili, his eyes dancing with amusement as he watched Y/N strike a silly pose.
“What do you think?” she asked him.
Instead of answering the question, he turned to Meili. “Can you show me how to take it off?”
Meili had quite a good laugh watching Harry with his hands up in defence as Y/N tried to hit him without hurting the dress. It was then that the sound of her ringtone from her bag came for his rescue.
He pecked her cheek and stayed to chat with Meili about his outfit while Y/N answered the call from her agent.
“Y/N!” Laura said before Y/N could speak. “What are you doing, babe?”
“I’m at the fitting for the Oscars.”
There was a pause followed by a dramatic sigh. “Oh, I nearly forgot that you’re attending the Oscars. Are you nervous?”
“Kind of.” Y/N giggled. “But I suppose you’re not calling me to ask what I’m doing, are you, Laura?”
“Of course not! I’d like to remind you that we’re having a party next Saturday!”
“Right, right, party–No!”
Both Harry and Meili whipped their heads back to gape at Y/N.
“What do you mean?” he asked. “I thought it was a brilliant idea–”
Y/N shushed her boyfriend as she indicated the phone to let him know she wasn’t talking to him.
“Hi, Laura!” he shouted, and Laura, who obviously had heard it, squealed like a schoolgirl and demanded to be put on speaker.
Y/N tapped the speaker icon as she slumped into the couch where Harry soon joined her, sitting with an arm around her shoulders. “Hi, Laura,” he repeated.
Laura laughed excitedly. “Hi, Harry! We’ve never met before but I’ve heard so much about you!”
“And I’ve heard so much about you!”
“I’m your client, Laura. Not him,” Y/N snorted as Harry kissed her temple.
“Oh, yes, right.” Laura cleared her throat to compose herself. “So what’s the matter? I thought–”
“The Oscars is next Sunday night, Laura. I have to catch the plane on Saturday morning. I can’t go to your party.”
“Your party, Y/N.”
What party?” Harry asked.
Y/N opened her mouth to answer but Laura was faster. “To celebrate your girl’s debut novel! It hasn’t come out yet, but everything is settled. It’s a tradition. I always throw this party for my client. Everyone at the agency will be there and there will be some guests from the publishing house and some published authors. It’ll be grand.”
Y/N sucked in a breath and pinched her temple, her eyes met Harry’s. His expression was unreadable. To Laura, she asked, “Can we push it back a few days?”
“Absolutely not! I’ve sent out the invitations. You told me any date this month would do!”
Y/N had. And she kind of regretted it now. She’d been chatting with Gemma when Laura asked her about the date. Gemma had been devastated by what had happened with Winton, so Y/N had been busy comforting her and told Laura to just pick any date she’d like. It was all her fault; she should have reminded Laura about the Oscars.
Y/N glanced back at Harry, hoping he didn’t think she’d purposely prioritized her success over his. Because why would she think her first novel was a better reason to celebrate than his first-ever Oscar nomination?
But Harry didn’t seem vexed. His dimples appeared as he traced his fingertips along the strap of her sparkling dress. “It’s okay, Laura,” he said to the phone. “You don’t have to change the date.”
Y/N’s eyes went round as Laura hissed, “Yes!”
“Baby–”
“You’ll go to your party,” he said, “and I’ll send my ride to pick you up and take you to the airport. They won’t leave without you, silly.”
Right. She’d be travelling on his private jet.
“But...I’ll be late.”
“So?” He shrugged nonchalantly. “I can manage the first few hours without you. Why should your career be any less important than mine?”
“He’s right, Y/N,” Laura said.
Y/N swivelled in her seat to face him as she took his hand. “I’ll just come to say hello to the guests–”
“And give a speech!” Laura interjected, making Y/N roll her eyes and Harry chuckle.
“Fine, I’ll come to say hello and give a speech and then I’ll come to you.”
“Deal?” His lips twitched as he gave her his pinkie.
“Deal,” she said, hooking her pinkie with his.
.
.
.
The party was insane.
Y/N had specifically asked Laura not to overdo this, but the agent had insisted on throwing her favourite client the most Gasby party she could pull off. Y/N didn’t even know half of the faces who’d shaken her hand and congratulated her on her debut novel which hadn’t been released yet. She felt like a fraud. What if these people ended up hating her book? What if this party made her seem like a show-off? She was already dating an Oscar nominee; she didn’t want to be branded as any more privileged than that.
She kept the speech she’d promised Laura as short and simple as possible, then returned polite smiles to the guests as she made her way to the back of the room. She wouldn’t be surprised if these folks thought that she had zero personality. When it came to self-branding, she needed all the help she could get. How did Harry do it? How did he charm people into liking him before they even viewed his work? As much as she loved him, she couldn’t help but envy him sometimes.
She wiped her sweaty palms on her dress before getting another glass of champagne and finishing it a second before Laura came up to check on her.
“You okay? You look a bit pale,” Laura said.
“Well, I tend to get anxious at formal events,” Y/N snorted, shaking her head. “I usually attend these kinds of parties with Harry. He’d do all the talking and help me get involved in the conversation. He’s very charismatic.”
“I’m charismatic!” Laura said with a hand on her chest. Y/N responded with a smile. Laura wascharismatic. The problem was, Y/N was more comfortable with Harry. Or maybe she couldn’t help but feel guilty that she’d miss the red carpet walk with him. She hated to be the one to break a promise.
“You need to stop checking your watch like modern Cinderella at the royal ball.”
Y/N dropped her arm back to her side. “I’m so nervous, Laura.”
“About this party? People love you!”
“About...everything.” This party. Her 2 AM flight. The Oscars. Showing up late. Missing Harry’s category. Her book release. The likelihood of having people roast her book unforgivingly on the internet.
She had the tendency of freaking out over insignificant matters whenever good things kept happening to her. Because, as usual, bad luck would come for her when she was most defenceless and took away her joy. This time, she could feel it in her stomach.
Laura gripped her shoulders and squeezed them tight. “You are my superstar, Y/N. You are the shit. You are the most brilliant–”
“Okay, I get it, I get it,” she laughed, pulling Laura into a hug. “Thank you for tonight. I owe you so much, Laura.”
“Don’t be stupid. You saved my life. Literally,” Laura smirked and gently patted Y/N’s cheek. “Now, let’s go say goodbye to the guests. It’s almost time for you to go.”
Y/N didn’t need to be told twice. She’d been waiting for this moment since she’d arrived. People might wonder why she seemed more energetic saying goodbye to them than when she’d welcomed them to the party. But she was just happy that she could finally leave. The last thing she wanted was to show up late for her flight (Harry had said the plane wouldn’t leave without her but she hated delays anyway) and missed more of the Oscar ceremony tomorrow than she’d allowed herself to.
The journey to LA happened in a rush. She’d slept for most of her twelve-hour flight because she’d been so exhausted. Harry’s bodyguard only woke her up when they were about to land. The next thing she knew, she was taken to his LA house. She had never been there before. It was much bigger than the one in London, but less homely, perhaps because she’d known every corner of the place that was supposed to be theirs. This one just seemed like a resort.
The hair and makeup team and Harry’s stylist were waiting upstairs to make her Oscars-ready. She’d eaten quite a lot on the plane before it took off, so she feared she wouldn’t fit in the dress. Magically, she did. And she felt so silly for feeling like she might burst into tears.
When the makeup artist asked how she’d like to have her makeup done, she told them to make her recognizable. They didn’t ask her to elaborate on that, so she hoped they knew what she meant. She didn’t want to be the centre of attention tonight, especially when she was going to show up late. The only attention she craved for was Harry’s and she was going to get it anyway, with or without this glamorous costume.
Fortunately, the makeup artist did a fantastic job. They gave her simple eye makeup and red lips and put her hair up into a classic high bun. It wasn’t until tonight that she couldn’t stop staring at herself in the mirror. Harry would be so impressed.
As Harry’s team did some final touches on her face, one girl showed her some clips and pictures of Harry on the red carpet. He looked dashingly handsome and comfortable, and when being interviewed, he said he loved her and couldn’t wait to see her later. The part of her that had been feeling guilty could finally let go of that breath she’d been holding. She thanked the makeup team for everything and came downstairs when her car arrived.
The chauffeur was a middle-aged man with greyish hair and a kind face. He was talking on the phone and ended the call as soon as he saw her. He looked rather tired, but before she could ask for his name and if he was feeling well, she remembered that she’d left her clutch upstairs, and so she asked him to wait while she went back to get it. He told her to take her time.
When she came downstairs for the second time, the man was on the phone again. He didn’t see her return so he didn’t hang up. Y/N couldn’t help but overhear the last part of the conversation where he told whoever he was speaking to that he would be at the hospital as soon as he finished his job.
“Is everything okay, sir?” she asked once he’d finished the call. He whipped around, seemingly startled to see her there. “You can tell me if something is wrong. I might be able to help,” she said.
The chauffeur looked hesitant at first. He worked his jaw for a moment before he could tell her, “My daughter...is sick. She’s just been taken to the hospital. I’ll go see her as soon as I take you to–”
“No! You’re going to see her now!” cried Y/N.
He squinted his eyes at her as if he thought she was testing him. “Are you...are you sure, Miss? Mr Styles told me–”
“I’ll talk to Harry for you. Don’t worry.”
Telling someone not to worry never seemed to work. The man screwed up his face as he shoved a hand in his hair. “Should I send you another car, Miss? Mr Styles said...he said that you couldn’t drive.”
“Of course I can!” Y/N blurted, then realized how defensive she’d sounded.
She could drive. However, she was afraid to sit behind the wheel.
Ever since her accident, she’d been using public transport and let Harry drive her around instead of doing it herself. He knew it wasn’t just her anxiety of getting into another accident. Her mother had died in a car crash, and Harry had seen how scared she’d been when he’d crashed his motorcycle. Those final thirty seconds after the collision and before she’d gone unconscious, Y/N had felt it all at once. Her mother’s death, her almost losing Harry, her head cracking open and the numbness when she lay on broken glass and her vision faded to black. She could only hope she would get through her fear this time.
“I’ll take one of his cars,” she reassured the man. “Don’t worry about me, sir. Your daughter needs you.”
The man thanked Y/N repeatedly and hurried back to the car parked in the drive. Y/N waited until he was gone, checked the time to make sure she’d make it, then she sucked in a deep breath and headed to the garage.
.
.
.
Harry was a bundle of nerves trying to act composed while the other nominations were being presented. There were cameras everywhere and they could zoom into his face at any moment so he could not look like he might throw up. He was here for his Best Actor nomination; it’d be so embarrassing if he couldn’t act like he was having the best time of his life.
Y/N should have been here a long time ago. Where the fuck was she? She’d texted him that she’d drive here by herself. He didn’t want to be pessimistic, but the last time she’d sat behind the wheel, she’d ended up in the hospital.
It’d been half a year since, but he couldn’t forget that feeling when he got the call. He was praying to God that the next time his phone buzzed, it would be her telling him she’d arrived safely. If something unpleasant was going to happen (as it always did), he would accept anything as long as she was safe.
The moment his phone sounded, he jolted so hard he might have startled the lady sitting beside him. Jeff’s words swivelled in his head: Do not check your phone during someone’s acceptance speech.Well, screw that. His girl wasn’t here and the last thing he would worry about was looking like an asshole on live television.
➣ I’m here.
When he saw those words, the lump in his throat dissolved and his body relaxed into the cushion. His fake smile had been replaced with a genuine one, so at least people who saw him texting during Brad Pitt’s speech would just assume he was texting his girlfriend, who was supposed to fill the vacancy next to him.
Good. I saved you a seat, he typed and sent.
➣ I’m staying backstage. I can’t go out there.
Harry’s smile dropped as he squirmed in his chair. Why? Are you okay?
She took a bit longer to reply.
➣ Yes, don’t worry. There’s a screen here. I can watch you.
Harry muttered a curse as he put his phone back into his pocket. After a moment of leg bouncing and lip biting, he decided to go check on her.
.
.
.
Y/N splashed water on her face, which was now clean of makeup and checked her pathetic reflection in the mirror one last time before she left the bathroom. She’d been sweating so hard on the way here that by the time she’d arrived, Harry’s beauty team’s two-hour of hard work had been ruined. She’d even ripped her dress by accident when she’d nearly fallen headfirst in the car park, so going out there to sit beside Harry would do so much damage to his reputation.
Besides, she was fatigued after the long flight and hadn’t rested since she got off the plane. She’d thrown up as soon as she’d texted him and found the bathroom. So it was for the best if she didn’t make an appearance tonight. It was less intimidating here backstage. She could just watch him on the screen and–
Where the fuck was he?
Her eyes frantically searched on the screen for her boyfriend.
Where had he gone?
No, he couldn’t–
“Bambi!”
She smacked him with her clutch as he rushed in for a hug. The backstage security and a few others couldn’t help the amusement as they watched them. Y/N flashed the strangers a smile before turning back to her boyfriend, who looked so stupidly happy it should be illegal. “Jeff would kill you! Go back out there!”
“But you’re here,” he said.
“I’m not nominated, you idiot!”
“I’m the idiot? You drove here!”
“I have a fucking license!”
“Then you’re an idiot with a fucking license!”
He didn’t wait for her to rebut and locked her in his arms, squeezing the air out of her like he hadn’t seen her in years. She held him back, for a second forgetting that she was sweating like a pig, her hair had fallen loose and her face weary from jetlag. She didn’t feel any less desirable, though. She knew he loved her anyway.
“Go out there with me,” he said, cupping her cheeks and kissing her nose.
“Are you crazy? Look at me!”
He pulled back to consider her appearance, his eyebrow arched. “You’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.”
She glared at him as he grinned. “The world doesn’t wear rose-coloured glasses like you do.”
His face grew serious. “You’re right. Maybe I see a princess and they see a frog.”
Too familiar with his teasing, she snorted, “Your ability to go from Prince Charming to an arsehole never fails to amaze me.”
“My pleasure.” He leaned in and brushed his lips against hers just in time his phone chimed in his pocket. “Shit, that must be Jeff. I must go before he finds me here.” He let out a long heavy breath and then stroked her hair like she was a child. “Can you stay here by yourself, baby?”
“Keep talking like that and people might think you’re my dad,” she said.
“Daddy.” He smirked.
She hit him again, shaking with laughter. “Go!”
“Okay, love you, idiot.”
“Love you, too, idiot.”
He kissed her on the cheek and then he was gone.

Harry didn’t win.
Even though he’d said he wasn’t disappointed, and he didn’t seem disappointed at all, Y/N still suspected that he might be faking it. It wasn’t such a big loss since he’d been up against some big contenders. He was young, so there was a bigger chance for him to get an Oscar in the future. However, she knew the feeling of not expecting anything but still feeling awful when you didn’t get it. She’d known his chance was flimsy, and yet she had hoped he’d win somehow. She might have to wait until next year to hear his acceptance speech.
Exhausted (Y/N more than Harry), they skipped the after-party to have one at home by themselves. They drank champagne and danced barefoot around the kitchen in their nice clothes. The house which Y/N had compared to a resort soon became familiar with his presence.
Streetlights, stumbling home
To our very own, after party
Won't lie, when we're alone
You're my favourite poem to recite
Harry turned down the volume of the song playing on the speaker. As Y/N poured some more champagne, he climbed onto a chair, standing on one foot, the other foot resting on the kitchen island.
She watched him with lazy eyes and took another sip. “If you fall, I’ll let you fall.”
He chuckled. “I’m overwhelmed by your love, Bambi.” Then he shook his head and pulled out a folded piece of paper from his pocket. It took her two seconds to figure out that it was his acceptance speech. She slid into a chair and gazed up at him with her chin on her knuckles.
He cleared his throat extravagantly and began by thanking the Academy, the cast and crew and the director of his movie, then his family and his team. It must be the wine that made every word he said in that posh accent extremely funny. She laughed so hard she almost fell off the chair.
Then, he took the longest pause to consider her, and the room sank to silence as he worked his jaw before he proceeded. “There’s this girl I love. She used to be my little secret but now she’s here watching me accept my first Academy Award. She’s the reason I’m here today, so I owe this one to her.”
Then he raised his glass as if it was the award and hopped off the chair. Before she could applaud, he’d pulled her to her feet and pressed his mouth against hers, kissing her as if she was the only thing he wanted. She kissed him back just as hard, hands in his hair, on his neck, his chest, his back, his face. Her whole body was on fire. It must be the wine. She needed to get out of this dress and get him out of his suit.
Went to bed without you (While you were sleeping)
Felt colder it used to (I crossed an ocean)
And I can't wait (And I can't wait)
'Till I get back to you
“It sounded better when I first wrote it. I’m kind of glad I didn’t win,” he said against her lips as he picked her up and sat her on the edge of the kitchen island.
She tipped her head back and laughed. “At least you weren’t going to propose to me on the stage.”
Suddenly, he stopped. She blinked as he pulled away, his mouth red and glossy from kissing her. She hadn’t even got a chance to feel bad for making that joke and he’d already stepped back. The next thing she knew, he was on one knee on the floor.
She slapped a hand over her open mouth. Her mind went blank, and the music in the background faded to white noise. The thundering beats in her chest made it hard for her to breathe. He wasn’t going to, was he? But if he was, was she going to say yes?
“My beautiful mermaid, frog, little deer,” he began with a straight face, and she choked out an unexpected laugh muffled by her hand. “I love you,” he said. “And I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” Then he sucked in a breath. The suspense was killing her. “But...I don’t want to marry you–”
“Excuse me?!”
“–right now.”
She could tell he was trying his best not to guffaw at her reaction. She was confused and amused at the same time. What was going on? Was he really that drunk? He didn’t seem that drunk. She would kick his arse if he thought this was funny!
“I just want to let you know,” he went on despite the look on her face, “that I will ask you to marry me. I know you hate surprises and if I asked you unexpectedly, the chances of you saying no would be much higher. So let’s consider this as a proposal for a bigger proposal.” He wetted his lips, his eyes fixed on hers. “Y/N, my darling, will you allow me to ask you to marry me someday?”
She laughed out loud though her eyes were already filled with tears. She didn’t know why she was crying but she couldn’t stop. She blamed the wine and him and his stupid speech and whatever the fuck he thought he was doing right now. “I hate you.” She laughed through her tears. “I hate you so much.”
He got up, his eyes wide. “You hate me after I told you I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you?”
“Yes.”
He closed the distance between them, standing between her legs with his hands on her hips. “Yes, I can ask you to marry me in the future, or yes, you hate me for what I said?”
“Both.” She threw her arms around his neck and pressed her mouth against his. “I love you. I hate you. I love you,” she said in between kisses. “I love you so much I hate you.”
“Tonight is the best night of my life,” he whispered, stroking her hair. “I didn’t want to win. I just wanted you to be there with me.”
“I’ll be there with you next time.” She rested her forehead against his. “And next time, and next time, and forever...”
You don't fall in love once but a million times
Waking up each morning with you by my side
When I drift away, I'll come back with the tide
I'm falling in and out again
Falling in and out again

How to Tell Your Family You’re Moving Across the World According to Mermaids ~*~ [Merfam]
In which Attina and Panic make a big announcement...[takes place at the beginning of the summer.]
@arista-the-musical, @aquata-the-champ, @alana-the-brilliant, @melody-the-unwritten, @panicked-nights
[tw -- none]
ATTINA: Attina had cooked a nice salmon and tofu (for the veggies) dinner for everyone. It was almost easier to wrangle everyone now, because there were so few of them. Andrina and Adella were such big presences that dinners felt so small without them. But, she’d already called them both and told them that she was moving. It had been nice to slide into it that way, but they were also the oldest. She had no idea how the rest of her sisters were going to react.
It was nice to have Panic there for moral support. And her dad, of course. Who was aware that tonight was going to be the night.
Attina was not nervous that they were going to be angry with her. She was actually nervous of the opposite. That people would want her to leave. That they would tell her that why did it matter, why was she making a big deal of this?
She waited until the dinner was winding down. One of the sisters actually got up to put her plate up because Attina was procrastinating.
“Wait—“ she barked, when the sister stood. “Uh, please, sit. I, er—we—“ she glanced at Panic. “Have something to tell you.”
Attina took another breath. “PanicandIaremovingtoAustralia.”
AQUATA: Aquata almost choked on her salmon. “Australia?” she repeated.
This was the thing: Aquata was learning to let go of the idea that all of her sisters would stay in the same place forever. Especially after talking to her at the wedding, Aquata now understood that this wasn’t just a phase for Andy and she probably wasn’t coming back. And even though Adella had gotten the brunt of Aquata’s crisis about the family splitting up, Aquata had eventually made her peace with it.
She maybe expected Tina to leave, eventually, especially since she didn’t have her wedding in Swynlake. But Australia?
She coughed and cleared her throat, her expression going neutral. “That’s a long bloody plane ride.”
ARISTA: Arista chewed on her tofu, happy to just sit among her family. Dinner nights were always so lovely. It was how they all caught up on things. (Well, at least the ones who were still in town).
Her brows shot up, Aquata had a point. It was a long plane ride. “Australia? Like forever?” Australia seemed pretty permanently away from Swynlake. But she trusted her sister to not make decisions unless she had already thought it over like a million times. “You think you’ll be near where Jake’s from? Maybe he can give you some pointers or teach you slang.” She tilted her head, trying to think back to all the weird things she’d heard her sister’s boyfriend say over the years.
ALANA: "Australia?!"
To be honest, Alana had a moment of fear. It struck her suddenly and she looked at the dinner table, at the empty seats where Andrina and Adella once sat. She felt something twist in her gut, but then she looked at Tina and that twisting feeling transformed into a swell of pride.
"Ohmigosh that's so great!" she exclaimed. "Wow, more excuses for me to visit."
MELODY: Well, that was far. Was the first thought as Melody digested the news. She wasn't all that surprised though. Each of the girls were moving on in their own way she wondered who would be next truly.
But this wasn't supposed to be sad. Not at all. "When are you planning on moving?"
PANIC: Panic watched everyone's reactions grimacing ahead of time almost expecting for it to go terribly. Though it wasn't that bad not yet. "It's a long plane ride for sure but we're planning on getting a big enough place you guys can all visit whenever." Panic offered leaving Tina to answer Arista because really who knew especially with school.
"Toward the end of summer, we need to be there by Late August so we want to settle in a bit."
ATTINA: Attina hadn't announced something like this since...well, since her pregnancy. And she'd done that one on one, because as much as she insisted on these dinners and everyone sharing their lives with each other, she always found it a little overwhelming to be the focus of the attention.
It was nice to have Panic there to help her, because she was trying to untangle her tongue while all her sisters and cousin stared at her. She knew it must be shocking and probably felt like it was coming out of left field and she felt herself about to word vomit everywhere a bunch of excuses.
Panic corralled everyone first and Attina shot him a grateful look before nodding.
"Yes, late summer. I will, uhm, I'm--I accepted an PhD studies offer at the National Australia University in Canberra for Marine Biology. It's not near Jake's, unfortunately." She had already looked that up, because of course she knew where her sister's boyfriend was from. "But, I'm sure he can give us plenty of pointers."
AQUATA: Aquata was stunned.
Andy had always been a loose cannon. Adella had always wanted to get out of Swynlake from the beginning. But Tina? Tina, who basically ran Whosits and Whatsits, who went to every community event, who had a house here and friends and, okay, probably a lot of bad memories too, but who seemed more a part of Swynlake than anyone else?
It was like one of those moments when you were a kid and realized the teacher didn’t sleep at school. Attina had her own life. But.... Australia was really far.
Aquata didn’t really know what to say. She didn’t want to make a scene, or be the unsupportive one (again). But for someone who liked plans and routines, who liked being able to keep track of everyone, it was a lot to process.
“Congrats, Tina, that’s cool,” Aquata said flatly. She needed to go for a swim. She looked at Panic and smirked. Humor was a little easier than being sincere. “Better be a mansion. I’m not getting on a twenty-hour flight for any old cottage. Or maybe I’ll just swim there. Probably faster.”
Aquata made a face to show she was joking, because she didn’t want to freak Attina out, but honestly, it did sound like a fun idea.
ALANA: Alana was still processing this. First Andrina had left, which seemed like a given and honestly, Lana had been surprised it hadn't happened sooner. She missed Andrina so much, her absence like a loose tooth she kept on prodding with her tongue. Adella had left second, which hadn't been a surprise either; she'd already left once the first time and she'd never wanted to stay in Swynlake. She had big dreams and a little town in England didn't exactly lend itself to them.
And now Attina --
Maybe this had been coming from the beginning. Maybe Attina dreamed of things too, dreamed of the ocean and helping save it. Maybe it was obligation that had kept her trapped in Swynlake, that obligation growing into fear and spreading across the rest of them. Maybe that's why Andrina had broken away, why Adella had always dreamed of bigger things. Maybe it all went back to Attina and the fact that she had stayed in the first place, instead of leaving.
Alana always wondered why she was working in a shoppe when she had a Master's degree.
Alana didn't know what she'd do without her big sister. It was one thing for Andrina and Adella to go off -- but Attina?
She wasn't sure where to look. Looking at Attina might make her cry. Looking at Aquata might make her scared. So she looked at Arista, who was soft and smiling and with a deep breath, Lana tried to relax herself.
(She wondered, briefly, if she would ever leave Swynlake; she'd thought about it a lot as a teenager but now... well with her own place and her own life separate from the legacy of her family, it didn't really bother her as much. She wondered, out of all of them, who would go and who would remain).
"Oh my gosh, do you have a new place picked out already?" asked Alana. "Is it by the beach? Please tell me it's by the beach."
ARISTA: Arista, of course, was sad to see any of her sisters go. But she knew they all had to do some exploring of their own some time. She had left for a time to find perspective and where her music came from. Andy had left to grow and spread herself far and wide so she could experience everything the world had to offer. Adella had dreams that were outside of Swynlake. And so while she had been sad for those instances, she was happy for them because she knew they were becoming who they wanted to be most in the world.
And though the sadness over Tina hit her heart particularly hard as Tina had been the most patient and the most kind to her growing up (they of course were not without their fights as seen over the last couple years) but Arista knew that Tina had put a lot on hold and been through so much in town that it only made sense that she too at some point would want to find something different out there. And that didn’t mean they were losing her. They were just gaining distance while she became an even brighter version of herself.
She looked between her sisters, they all has their respective reactions but one thing was clear, they loved their sister and wanted to see her happy in their own ways.
She smiled softly, her voice matched her smile as she looked at her eldest sister, “I think you really deserve this, Teens.”
MELODY: Melody sighed softly but nodded, this was good. The degree was amazing. And it would be good for Attina and Panic, she was sure of it. Or at least she hoped. Just like she hoped all the others girls were happier doing whatever it was they were doing right now.
It felt lonely in a way, seeing everyone move on but making her life more steady here. Would she be like them too one day? Would the rest of the Triton's be like that?
"Congrats Tina. That's going to be such a cool program. " None the less Melody would take each day by day and today was Tina and Panic's day.
PANIC: Panic nodded giving the girls all a smile, a brief glance over to JEFF too. "We'll be near the water and no little cottage don't worry. Though maybe not a mansion big." Panic grinned with a raised eyebrow in Aquata's direction.
"Enough room and good scenery, it'll be worth the flight." Reaching over Panic gave Tina's hand a small squeeze. This was going a lot better than expected and part of him wondered if it was because some of the others girls had left. Strangely enough this was more common than you would first think.
ATTINA: No one was yelling. Everyone was smiling--some more reserved than others. The air was a little stilted, awkward, and nervous, but...no one was yelling. That let Attina know, more than anything else, that this was the right decision. She had let out the breath she was holding and managed a tentative smile herself.
There were little tears shining in the corner of her eyes, but she nodded, squeezing Panic's hand back when he reached for her.
"Yes, of course. You are all welcome to visit, at any time. And we'll all FaceTime and text. It will be like I'm not really gone at all."
"We'll miss you too, Tiny, but don't worry. You're going to do brilliantly," Daddy said, reaching over to squeeze Attina's shoulder. She smiled over at him. "Your mum would be proud."
"Daddy," Attina said, those tears trembling--much more closer to falling. "You must promise to keep me informed of everything. I'll miss you all so much."

“She remembers nothing” Wooyoung muttered.
Hongjoong took a deep breath and looked at Yeosang, who was diligently going through his maps to try and figure out what move they needed to do next. “We need to go as far away from Havelock’s jurisdiction as possible. There are a few areas in which he has no power at all, thus he cannot send any messengers whatsoever.”
“We still have to make him believe we’re on his side. Otherwise he’ll find out we have y/n before she even starts to remember” Yunho intervened, leaning his arms over the large wooden table to look at Yeosang’s maps “You have to hold that meeting with him, Captain.”
“But we can’t stay here any longer. The word’s been spread, the villagers know about y/n’s disappearance. It’s a matter of hours until the Royal Navy finds out, and when they do, the real battle will begin.” San stated, his sharp eyes fixated on his best friend’s sad expression.
“I think we need to set sail again to the next pirate friendly island. Captain meets up with Havelock and we go out of his jurisdiction to protect her. We can tell him that we will be looking for her there as he’s unable to do so.” Mingi proposed, everyone nodding in agreement. “It’s a risky move, especially because of those creatures out there, but there’s no way of giving her the time to remember with her father controlling our every move.”
“Hoping for the best it’s what we can do.” Hongjoong sighed. “Yeosang, where to next?”
“Tolnia Island is the nearest option, but is full of Royal Navy’s ships most of the time. We either go there and keep y/n inside the entire time or we head to Santadoba which is probably four days distance leaving tomorrow night.”
“And leaving now?” Wooyoung asked, finally entering the discussion, sad soft voice and bloodshot eyes from having cried a while ago, engulfed in San’s warm embrace.
“Three if we are lucky.”
“Let’s be then.” Hongjoong added. “We need to be as close to the border as possible, but also on firm land. Somebody has to take y/n out of the Destiny when Mingi and I go to that meeting in case he senses her. We know he’s able to do so.”
“I can do that” Jongho offered himself, knowing he could be easily replaced by San when it came to his position on the ship, in addition to his exceptional fighting skills which truly made him the best suited to protect y/n in case something happened. “I know where to take her, that island was my home for the longest time before joining ATEEZ.”
“Okay then, is there a need to vote?”
“Let me tell hyung first” Yunho went out of the cabin and straight to Seonghwa’s room, where he was taking care of a pale and confused looking y/n.
Taking advantage of that moment where everybody scattered from the meeting, San went straight to Wooyoung. “She will remember you, Youngie.”
“She won’t, hyung. You should have seen the way she looked at me when I told her my name. Nothing sparkled in her eyes, she didn’t even flinch. She gave up her memories for me and now she doesn’t even know me.” He looked at San with such guilt and devastation as tears ran down his cheeks once again. The gunner felt like crying alongside his best friend, thinking that if he had been able to take that pain in order to help Wooyoung with his burden, he would do it without seconds thoughts.
Yunho opened the cabin’s door, making San turn around to look at him as he put his hand on his best friend’s shoulder for comfort. “Hwa is okay with the plan as long as it keeps y/n out of Havelock’s reach.”
“Then it’s settled. We depart now, hopefully arriving Santadoba in three days. We have the meeting and right after we head out of the jurisdiction.” Hongjoong announced, everyone agreeing with their Captain.
“Hyung also told me she wants to see Wooyoung.”
San felt Wooyoung tense up under his hand. “What for?” he asked, voice still broken and never looking up from the floor.
“I don’t know, she might sense something. Not everything it’s thanks to our memory, we still can remember things from the heart.”
“Why don’t you lay down? You’re still really weak.”
“I need to see him.”
After spending half an hour with her awake, Seonghwa thought that she was Wooyoung’s other half. They both were stubborn and never listened to other people even when they knew they were right. What a power couple.
“Yunho is bringing him here so there’s no need for you to move.”
“But I want to!”
Just as she was putting her legs out of the bed to stand up, the door opened revealing a disheveled and defeated Wooyoung.
“Call me back when you’re done.”
Wooyoung simply nodded at Seonghwa’s words and slowly made his way to the bed, plopping down next to the girl whose eyes never left his face. Upon hearing the door closing, y/n wasted no time.
“Why did you run away after telling me your name?”
Wooyoung knew that there was no reasonable explanation other than telling her the truth. Nonetheless, he still believed that forcing her to remember was not the answer. Telling her all about their encounters and loving glances to each other could simply seem as a fairy tale for her, because after all, everything he could tell her was from his point of view. All of what Wooyoung knew about her was through her words, not through her eyes. And he still wasn’t aware of how much she had forgotten.
“Do we know each other?” y/n seemed to just want her millions of questions out of her head as soon as possible, not even bothering to wait for an answer to her first one.
“We do” was all he could mutter.
“From where? Do you know who I am? My name?”
Wooyoung nodded, finally mustering the courage to look up from his hands and straight into her eyes. “I don’t want you to get overwhelmed, so I came to think that it’s best for you to just trust yourself and start remembering on your own.”
“How am I supposed to do that?” she almost yelled at him, her eyes growing glossy.
“I can tell you your name, but you have to promise me that you won’t be asking around for information. You ask me and I’ll help you. Are we clear?”
“Okay” she huffed, pouting while swinging her legs back and forth.
Wooyoung felt his heart softening at her childish behavior, amazed by how just her beautiful expressions could make him weak at the knees. A little smile managed to slip over his lips, admiring her ability to make him change his mood in mere seconds.
“So, what is my name, Jung Wooyoung?”
“You are y/n. Nice to meet you once again.”
“Y/n…” She muttered, slowly going over her own name like she was tasting honey for the first time. “I like it” giggling, she looked at Wooyoung right into his eyes, and the young pirate gasped when her shining orbs seemed to react at him like they used to. “You have really beautiful eyes, Wooyoung.”
And the truth was that every time she connected her eyes with his, she felt something. She sensed familiarity, she sensed affection. y/n felt that deep down, she knew him. Those eyes had meant something for her before her life took a whole 180-degree turn.
That feeling made her determined to find out who she was, and what that pirate had meant for her not so long ago.
“Yours are even prettier” he whispered, that previous little smile growing bigger. Hope filled Wooyoung’s heart upon hearing her words. He had heard that phrase of hers multiple times when they got together on those starry nights, and every time she did that, the boatswain would answer the same lame line.
Without realizing, y/n was already rebuilding their relationship, slowly and with baby steps. She was reacting to him like she always did, and she indeed showed interest in what he had to say.
Y/n blushed and looked away, going back to analyzing every part of the room just like she was doing when she got interrupted by the handsome doctor. “The man that was taking care of me… Seong…?”
“Seonghwa.”
“Yes, Seonghwa. He told me we are in a pirate ship. I reckon I have seen one of those before but... I don’t know if I ever stepped on one.”
“Step is not a suitable word actually…” Wooyoung murmured, but she was too distracted to hear him. “I can show you around when you are well rested, but for now, go back to bed, zeemermin.”
Y/n’s head snapped towards his direction, her eyes big and her mouth opened like she just saw a ghost. “What… what did you just call me?”
Wooyoung tried to suppress the joy and adrenaline rush that his whole body was experiencing by helping her with the covers. All of the sadness that he was feeling moments later, simply faded away. He knew that y/n remembering specific and significant events or things between them was certainly not happening that night nor the following, but her reaction towards those triggers were at least something to what he could hold on for the time being.
“It’s just a nickname” he explained, subtly hiding the real meaning behind that word. “Please rest for now. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Wooyoung was about to lean over her to kiss her forehead, but he gave second thoughts to it.
Maybe it’ll overwhelm her.
He agreed with his conscious and instead, he settled for just whispering a ‘Goodnight, y/n’ and go out of the room without looking back.
The soft breeze that met him right when he reached the main deck had him sigh out of relief. She’s home now.
She couldn’t stop thinking about Wooyoung, and that kept her up the whole night. Besides, the ship would violently swing back and forth when sleep was finally getting into her, so neither the room nor her mind would let her rest properly.
Every once in a while, the doctor would go in to check her vitals, as well as to make sure that she was warm and well fed every and each time. At first, y/n thought that he was being annoying. Yes, she still felt weak and her limbs had not been much responsive, but she was alive and not complaining.
What troubled her the most was that everyone in that ship seemed to know more about her and her purpose on life than herself.
By the third time that Seonghwa stopped by to measure her fever, y/n had to ask him. She had promised Wooyoung she would not do it, but her curiosity had always won over her will.
“What do you know about me?”
“I know that your name is y/n and that I cannot tell you anything else. The crew reached the decision of letting you find out on your own.”
“Why?” y/n wanted to yell at him, but she kept her voice down just because she was aware that everyone else in the ship were sleeping the night away, just like she was supposed to be doing too.
“Look, I know you’re struggling and I get it. You don’t know us and you’re trusting us even when you merely were able to meet three of us. But your situation is ours too. We’re trying to do the best we can to keep you safe and at the same time help you find out who you are. That would actually make it way easier for us to just solve the thousand problems and dangers we are facing now and in the future. But if we just tell you who we think you are, you’ll just settle with it and we’ll never know why you ended up in that island, all on your own and with two le… and in those conditions.” Seonghwa reassured her, hoping for his words to help ease her pacing brain at least for the time being.
“Are you telling me that there’s more to the story? You don’t know everything about me like I thought you did?”
“We certainly know very little compared to what you did and deep down, still do. We just need you to try hard and remember at least little bits of your life and yourself. By just doing that, you’re helping us, and most importantly, you, big time.”
Y/n sighed, nodding. “Okay… I’ll try. For everyone and for me.”

Miss Minutes voice actress Tara Strong says there's more to Loki's cartoon breakout character
One of the unexpected joys of Loki has been seeing the Time Variance Authority's animated mascot, Miss Minutes, popping in and out of the series with a heady dose of Southern charm. She lays out the purpose of the TVA in the premiere, but goes on to appear to Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in semi-sentient ways as the series moves forward.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe didn’t cast just anyone in the role, they went with a legend. If you throw a rock at IMDb, chances are you’ll hit something that Tara Strong has been in. She’s a DC veteran (Raven on Teen Titans, Harley Quinn in multiple projects, etc.), a Marvel veteran (the animated Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers Assemble, Marvel Rising, etc.), and has also appeared in Rick & Morty, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, The Powerpuff Girls, and Family Guy, to name just a few. Perhaps you caught her voicing Sunny in A Series of Unfortunate Events?
SYFY WIRE caught up with Strong before the Loki finale to discuss how her performance as Miss Minutes developed, how much Miss Minutes actually knows, and more.
At what point in the Loki process did you get involved?
The Loki series was completely finished filming by the time I came on board, which was great because I got to watch all the action unfold as I was doing it, as if I were really shooting with them. If I had to go first, it would be much more challenging. To play off Tom Hiddleston was so much fun.
Did they have any ideas on what direction they wanted you to take Miss Minutes, or was it more like, "She's Tara Strong, we're going to stay out of her way?"
When you have an audition for an animated character, they'll give you a drawing of the character, a character bio — something about their world. And the more information I get, the more I can feed that into developing a character. It is a very collaborative process generally by the callback stage. The director, the writer will put in some ideas, and then you come up with the perfect voice for this character. And that was not the case for Loki.
I didn't even know it was for Loki, I didn't know who Miss Minutes was. There wasn't a visual, it was kind of limited information. I just knew they wanted something like a Siri voice but more human. Then they said to play around with an accent, which I got to do. And then, when I started working with Kate [Herron], who has such incredible vision on every single part of this process, we collaborated and came up with this sort of Southern belle that can say horrible things with a smile on her face. And it's such an extraordinary, fun character. It's definitely unique. I've never seen or done anything quite like her.
In the premiere, she gives a whole spiel as to what's going on, or what we think is going on. We've now found out that most of that is not necessarily true. Is she aware of that and is faking it, or is she as clueless as everyone else?
I think that's a great question, and I think there's more to be revealed about how much she really knows, and obviously, you'll have to wait for the finale. But that's a great question because even in the audition, I was like, "Is she sentient? Is she this?" And along with the Marvel imagination of how it all works, a lot of that is still to be discovered. And looking at it, it's very easy to say, "Oh, maybe she's the ultimate being behind all this," or "Maybe she knows more about this," but it's really a play-as-you-go kind of thing. But she's certainly more knowledgeable than in the first episode, she seems to be a lot more sentient than in the first episode. In the first episode, you think it's just a video, and then of course she comes to life and hangs out on Tom's desk. So [there's] more to be revealed as she goes, for sure.
Because she's been such a hit with fans do you think there's a life for Miss Minutes outside of this series?
Of course, Miss Minutes definitely needs her own series! I am so excited to see all the fans cosplaying her at cons. There's already been some incredible art. I'm so grateful that the fans have fallen in love with her, and they did before the show even aired. There were a bunch of videos made with the trailer and people saying, "That's Tara Strong, that's Tara Strong." And you never know with an animated character that's part of such a huge franchise. Or even in something on camera, you don't know how the fans are going to respond. So I can't say how grateful I am that the fans love her and have warmed up to her. She's rapidly become one of my favorite characters I've ever done.
She would get along really well with Mr. D.N.A. from Jurassic Park.
Everybody talks about that online, and some artists, forgive me for not knowing [their names], did a really cute picture of the two of us together as a couple or something. People made that comparison pretty quickly.
If you had your choice for her to be involved in any of the many upcoming MCU projects, is there any particular one that you'd really love to be a part of?
That's a good question. I mean, anything in the MCU, it's such an honor to be a part of it. I've been in the animated world for so long, but to join this cinematic universe is just incredible. And I think she's the kind of character that could maybe now she's working for this person or that person, and she could change, and morph, and her whole character dynamic could go into a million different directions. I mean, sky's the limit for Miss Minutes, so it'd be fun to see her alongside other heroes, or villains, or whatever people perceive them to be.
In terms of your entire body of work, which is enormous at this point, you've already done several Marvel animated projects, and DC, you name it. This is probably an impossible question, but Miss Minutes aside, is there another character that stands out as being very special to you?
You know, there's so many. I always say that my favorite job I ever did was The Little Mermaid II, because I was such a big fan of the original and I used to run around impersonating her. So to get in the studio and sing with Jodi Benson, and then they drew my face and animated her onto this mermaid. So that was a very, very special time in my life. But I don't know what horseshoe I was born under, but to get to play Harley and Batgirl... Batgirl I worked alongside Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy. The Powerpuff Girls was so fun, The Fairly OddParents was so fun. And Raven, she's so important, she's just saved so many lives. When I meet kids at cons, they say, "Raven got me through my parents' divorce or depression," or, "I thought I was alone till I met her." I just feel very blessed to have been a conduit for these characters, to bring them to people. And I take that responsibility pretty seriously. I love meeting fans at cons and interacting with them on social. It's really beautiful.

And I had an obsession with Jack Dawson and used to try and spit like he did with Rose on the dock. I was obsessed with doing it whenever I was high up and Mum and Dad would constantly yell at me. I think I was quite a gross child in general.”
have you ever peed in the shower? “I wasn’t that gross.”
who is one person on tour that you trust more than anything? “Brett.”

Devastation
Pairing: Bryce × f!MC( Tesse Sterling ), Ethan × f!MC( I guess..)
Author's note: So I'm pretty sure some Ethan stans are going to hate me for this but I just had to do it. So sorry in advance.
Part 2
Tesse stood in the middle of the chamber. She was just done getting ready. Her mermaid wedding dress hugged her curves perfectly. She looked absolutely stunning in it. And even though her mom warned her against it, in fear that she might ruin her makeup, Tesse still couldn't help but shed some tears. It's finally here, the day she've been waiting for for the last six months is finally here. This is the day that's going to tie her to her love for the rest of her life. And even though some people find that thought disturbing, she finds it comforting. After all, she's going to be with the person she can be herself with, share her happiness and sorrows with, the person that will no matter what stand beside her.
She just put her necklace on when she heard a knock on the door after which Sienna poked her head inside.
"Wow, Tesse. You look beautiful." She said in awe.
"Thank you, Sienna. Come in."
The maid of honor practically run inside the room and then threw herself in Tesse's arms.
"Oh my god, I can't believe you're getting married." She said, stifling her tears.
"I know, right?"
"I'm going to miss you, Tesse."
"Sienna, I'm getting married. Not emigrating." Responded Tesse, teasingly.
"I know.. But you're going to focus on being married and forget about us."
"That will never happen."
"Do you promise?"
"I do."
"Okay, I should go and check if everything is ready than I'll come and get you."
"Alright."
After Sienna left, Tesse went back to her vanity to check if she forgot anything. Just a few minutes later she heard another knock on the door, thinking that it's probably one of her friends, she yelled.
"Come in."
But the sight that greeted her when she turned to see who it is, knocked her off her feet.
"Easy."
He said after hurrying over to catch her before she fell. What was he doing here?
"Bryce.." She whispered, not believing her eyes.
"Hey there, princess. You look beautiful."
"What are you doing here?"
Indeed what was he doing there?. He was the last person she expected to see today. Not after the way he left a year ago.
"I came to congratulate you." He said.
"Really?" She hissed, pushing away from him.
"How dare you show your face in here?"
"Tesse, please let me explain.."
"What's there to explain? Huh? The fact that you disappeared off the face of the earth, or the fact that you left me without even saying goodbye."
"Please, I can explain.."
"No you can't."
"Tesse, I swear I can. Just give a few minutes than I can leave.."
She was going to refuse but the look on his face stoped her. She was never able to refuse him anything.
"Okay, but hurry up. As you can tell I don't have all day."
"Alright. I went to Hawaii."
"What? Why?"
"Believe me, it wasn't by choice. Dad sent me a lawyer all the way to Boston to tell me that if I didn't take Keiki back home, he'll press charges of kidnapping."
"What the heck?"
"Yeah, my thoughts exactly. But as much of a criminal my dad is, he still has some big lawyers in his pocket. And if they set their minds to it, they probably would've sent me to jail."
"But you're his son."
"He doesn't feel that way. And it's mutual. I would never consider that bastard as a father. But anyway, I had no choice but to take her back. But instead of leaving her to the wolves like last time, I decided that I would stay with her."
"But that still doesn't explain why you didn't tell me."
"Because I couldn't. I couldn't break up with you, Tesse."
"So, you decided that it would be better to leave me in the dark?"
"At the time, yeah. But the minute I set foot on the plane, I knew I shoud've told you instead of being a coward about it. But by then, it was too late."
"We could've done long distance." Said Tesse after a few beats.
"I don't think we could've. Between work and other stuff, we would've barely had time for anything. Plus, the time difference.. It wouldn't have worked."
"We could've made it work." Said Tesse, tears welling in her eyes.
"You know we couldn't have." Responded Bryce, while brushing some stubborn tears that escaped away.
"So, since you're here, that means that things got better with your dad?"
"No. He couldn't help but go back to old habits. The police figured it out and put him back in prison with no possibility of parole this time. So me and Keiki decided it would be best if we came back. And when we did I found out you're getting married to Ramsey."
"Oh no, you don't get to guilt trip when you're the one who left."
"Tesse, no. I'm not guilty tripping you. If this is what you want than I fully support you. And if the one you love is Ethan than I don't have anyone to blame but myself."
"I do love Ethan."
"Than this is what you should do. Don't ever let anyone get in the way of your happiness." Said Bryce while kissing her forehead. Than she found herself looking at the door swinging shut.
A while later, Sienna came to retrieve her since everything is already in place. And not later after that she found herself walking down the aisle with her father by her side. She looked at the grinning faces on either side of her. And then she saw him. He was standing amongst the people with Keiki by his side. Though what she noticed the most was the look on his face. A look of acceptance. Acceptance that you lost something and will never get it back. She turned her face to look at the man at the end of the aisle, his smile as radiant as ever. Or as radiant as some of the time. The happiness coming off of him in waves upon seeing her. She should be feeling the same way. And she was. If you asked her 20 minutes ago what are you feeling? Utter happiness would've been her answer. But now all she was feeling was uncertainty.
They finally made it to the end of the aisle, where her futur spouse gave her one of his charming smiles that are souly saved for her, but instead of returning it like usual, she avoid his gaze and mentioned for the marriage officiant to begin.
They shared their vows and after what felt like forever the officiant asked.
"Do you, Ethan Jonah Ramsey, take Tesse Louise Sterling as your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do." Responded Ethan without a bit of hesitation.
Than the officiant turned to her.
"And do you, Tesse Louise Sterling, take Ethan Jonah Ramsey as your lawfully wedded husband?"
She hesitated, feeling her heart beating out of her chest, than she looked over all the guests, that awaited her answer with anticipation, meeting the eyes of the person that caused all her hesitation. Seeing the sadness like a curtain over his face but beyond that she could see a silver of hope in his eyes shinning like the first rays of the sun. And she knew exactly what her answer is.
"No."
She could hear the gasps coming from everywhere in the room but the loudest one came from in front of her.
"Why?" Asked Ethan, surprise and devastation written on his face.
"Ethan, listen to me. I love you, I truly do. But you're not the one for me." She said while holding his face between her hands. Than she sprinted down the aisle. Even though she knows she did the right thing, she can't help but feel a piece of her heart shatter to a million pieces.
She barely made it back to her chamber before the waterworks started. Her sobbing was so loud that she didn't hear anyone come in until she felt arms tucking her to a strong chest. His chest.
"Shush, it's okay."
"I shouldn't have done that to him. He will never forgive me."
"What did I say earlier about letting people stand in the way of your happiness. If you believed Ramsey could give you that happiness you would've gone along with the wedding."
Tesse lifted her head to look into his eyes.
"Bryce, I.."
"I know." He answered, stroking her head.
"What are we gonna do?" She said after a few beats.
"We'll figure it out. As long as we're together we can do anything."
The end
A/N: Hi! Hope you enjoyed this one and do tell me what do you think Tesse and Bryce will do. Do you like @tyrilsnightbloom think that they will work at a library until things calm down or do you thing something else? Like always I would really appreciate it if you like, comment or reblog. Tata.

survey by ehxsnos
First lets get the basics out of the way...
What's your name? Robyn.
How old are you? 22.
Where are you from? Philippines.
What color are your eyes and hair? Eyes are dark brown, hair is black.
When were you born? April 21.
Now for the fun stuff!
Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed? Closed. Some people can fall asleep with their closet doors open (and this is a thing in the first place??)? I could imagine that would irritate me to death, and I wouldn’t be able to fall asleep until I got up and closed it.
How many people have you slept with this week? Zero.
What size is your bed? Just a twin size. It’s all I need for now.
What do you drink with dinner? Cold water, always. We also usually have other drinks served at the dinner table - Coke, buko juice, and iced tea - but I never drink anything else.
What do you dip a chicken nugget in? Barbecue sauce.
Last person you kissed/kissed you? You know who it was, I don’t feel like continuing to mention them on surveys as often as I used to any more.
What movies could you watch over and over and still love? Two for the Road, The Proposal, and Toy Story.
What is your usual bedtime? From Monday to Friday I’m usually passed out anytime between 10 PM–12 AM. It’s a different story on weekends; revenge bedtime procrastination is my thing now, so I go to bed anywhere from 2–5 AM.
When you were a kid, what did you dress up as for Halloween? I always had different outfits on per year, but they were always the generic ones that we could buy costumes of at the mall – pirate, Tinkerbell, mermaid, etc. I didn’t start getting resourceful and/or witty with my Halloween choices until I was about 14 or 15 when I first went as AJ Lee.
Last time you got a portrait taken by a photographer? February last year when I had my grad photo taken.
Take a vitamin daily? I am guilty of skipping my vitamins lol.
What do you wear to bed? I answer this all the tiiiiiime but I like wearing super-thin clothes so it’d feel airy while I sleep. I don’t exactly live in the chilliest country in the world.
Wal-Mart, Target or Kmart? Can’t relate.
Ever have plastic surgery? No.
Do you want kids? I would love to have kids, yeah.
Where did your last kiss take place? Outside of that person’s car, just right before they got inside.
Four words to explain why you last threw up? I had a fever coming in and was starting to feel nauseous.
Last thing you ate? Adobo.
Do you get your nails done? Nope.
When did your last relationship end? September.
So tell us, what room ARE you in? I’m in my bedroom.
How many stories does your home have? Three if you count the rooftop.
Do you own headphones? No. The one I have in my room is my dad’s; he just lets me borrow it.
Have you ever...
Gotten a Brazillian wax? No, never tried having that yet. Being waxed looks like it hurts, so I’ve stayed away from it to this day lol.
Gotten so drunk you couldn’t remember wtf you did? Only a handful of times as I try not to get to that point, but yes, it’s happened before.
Been called a bitch? Sure.
Slut? No.
Pierced anything? I have a couple of piercings, but nothing I pierced myself.
Had a tattoo? Not yet.
Smoked a cigarette? Yes, but I actively try to make it a point not to form it into a habit.
Smoked weed? Nope.
Missed someone so bad you couldn’t eat or sleep? Sure, this has happened back when I still felt this way about the person.
Worked out at a gym? No, never at a gym. I’d feel too self-conscious to get a gym membership altogether haha. In the brief time I worked out, I only did it at home.
Snuck out of the house? No. With my parents, it’s much safer to ask permission than attempt to be sneaky since they always say yes anyway.
What’s the nearest furry object? That would be Kimi.
Is the room you are in messy? I would say it’s messy in my mom’s eyes but relatively neater than the average bedroom I would see at my friends’s and relatives’ houses. My mom just has ridiculous sky-high expectations when it comes to neatness and I’ve stopped bothering to meet them years ago.
What is the single largest item in your house? Either the living room couch or my parents’ bed, not sure which would ultimately take up more space.
When did you first become interested in sex? I mean I remember starting to explore porn when I was maybe 13 or 14, so those ages would be safe guesses.
How much money did you spend today? Zero and I plan on making it remain at zero. Payday is taking so long though :((((
What is the biggest amount of money you have ever had at one time? I think I had to hold around ₱7,000 in bills at one point in high school when my mom asked me to pay for something tuition-related.
What kind of cell phone do you have? iPhone 8. It sounds more and more ancient with each year that passes lmaooo.
Have you ever been under anesthesia? Never, and I hope I never have to? I’m scared of the things that could come out of my mouth.
Which Disney parks have you been to? None of them.
What does your bed comforter look like? Blue.
When did you last cry? Yesterday, from watching an emotional clip.
When is the last time you took medicine? Start of June.
What was the medicine for? It was to treat my UTI. I was already feeling so much better by the time I had to take that last pill, but I was instructed to take it for a certain period of time so I was just following the schedule.
What kind of health insurance do you have? I’ve actually never tried looking into the specifics of it. I know health insurance is part of my job, but I don’t even fully understand insurance yet HAHA and the thought of it makes me anxious so I haven’t read too much into the kind of insurance I have and the inclusions I can avail from it.
What is your birth control method of choice? I don’t have a preferred one. I’ve only been with a girl, so I haven’t had the chance to explore methods I could gravitate towards.
How much do you spend on your parents for Christmas? Several thousands of pesos, usually.
If you were given $1k and had to use it on 1 purchase, what would you buy? Like, I was challenged to finish it off on one thing? I’d get an iPhone 12.
Have your parents ever caught you drinking? They never caught me drinking when I was not yet allowed to drink. Now that they know I do drink, there’s no ‘catching’ that happens; they don’t mind me downing a bottle of soju from time to time.
Have you ever crawled through a window? I may have as a kid.
What do you spend most of your money on? Food delivery, heh. :)))))))) It’s my favorite way to spoil myself.
Is there a secret you've never told your parents? Yup.
Do you still have pictures of you & your ex? Yes. I’m definitely a photo hoarder regardless of the person, so she’s not an isolated case; I also still have photos of people who aren’t in my life anymore, like Athenna and Sofie. I just don’t look at photos of me and Gab anymore, but they are definitely still around. Deleting them would be like deleting the last six years of my life and that sounds a little unfair.
Has someone ever spread a nasty rumor about you? Someone spread a rumor that I was bi and dating Andi back in 6th grade but I wouldn’t call that nasty.
How many rooms does your house have? It originally had three, but we had the balcony renovated into another bedroom, for my brother; so now we technically have four.
Would you sex tape with you in it for 3 million dollars? As long as I felt safe in the environment and with the person/people, sure.
Are you happier single or in a relationship? There are different kinds of happiness you can get from either; I don’t believe this is something that should be compared.
Do you have curly hair? No.
What is a compliment you receive often? That I write well.
How tall are you?: 5′1″.
Who was the last person to say they loved you and when? Not sure, maybe one of my parents or one of my best friends.
What is the last thing you said aloud? “Already?” Cooper was nipping at my hoodie and he was able to destroy a part of the underside in like three minutes.
What was the last thing you had to drink? Coffee.
What is one thing that can ALWAYS be found in your freezer? At least one type of frozen goods, like tocino or hotdogs.
How many pets do you own? Two.
How old will you be turning on your next birthday? I’ll be 23.
Last time you went out of town? January.
First thing you wash in the shower? My hair, then I work my way down.
What kind of shampoo & conditioner do you use? I use a Dove shampoo and a Pantene conditioner.
Do you own something from Hot Topic? No.
Have you ever bought anything from Pac Sun? I don’t think so. We don’t have that here so there’s no reason for me to own anything from there.
How often do you hold hands with someone? Never. That’s a sensation I miss, for sure. But I’m fine – this is just my period talking HAHAHA
What was the most recent thing you bought? I got a Zinger from KFC because I was craving for fast food at 1 AM yesterday.
Could you ever forgive a cheater? Considering how stupid I can get when it comes to love, probably yes in certain situations.
Do you have Verizon? No.
Would you consider yourself to be spoiled? To a very, very tiny extent, especially compared to my siblings. I’m nowhere close to being a brat, though.
Have you ever been pregnant? No.
What is your average cell phone bill? I’m on prepaid, so I load up my phone every week with a certain amount instead of paying for a consolidated bill every month.
How many piercings do you have? Two.
Do you start the water before you get in the shower or when you get in? I turn it on only once I’ve gotten in.
Have you ever had stitches? Nope and I’m terrified of the thought. I hope I’ll never have to need any.
Do you think it’s right for straight guys to get their tongue pierced? Eugh, outdated question. Next.
Are you more of a coffee or alcohol drinker? Coffee.
Do you have a wireless keyboard and mouse? No. I don’t use a mouse and my keyboard is already built into my laptop.
How many songs are on your iPod or MP3 player? I don’t regularly use either anymore.
Where did you get that shirt you're wearing? I’m pretty certain this is a hand-me-down from my mom.
What are your pet’s names? Kimi and Cooper.
Honestly, are you in love right now? Nope.
Honestly, what color is your underwear? Blue.
Honestly, do you think you are attractive? Some days.
Honestly, do your wrists hurt? Haha no, but my back and shoulders do.
Honestly, wouldn't you rather be having sex right now? Sure.
What would you do if the doctor told you that you were pregnant? Continued from this morning. Figure out a way to tell my parents without getting hit.
Was there anyone who "made your day"? Today? Not really.
Are you vegeterian? Nope.
How many windows are open in your computer? Two of Chrome, one of Spotify.
Do you read Perez Hilton? Ew, no. Does that guy still do stuff???
Is there a baby in the room with you right now? No.
Do you plan on moving within the next year? It’s nice to daydream about but likely not gonna happen.
Have you been to a baby shower? No.
What brand is your computer? Apple.
How many cars can fit in your driveway? 4-5 if we really want to make the most out of the available space, but at present it only has 2.
Are you taller than your mom? Nah. Everyone thought I would be, but then I just stopped growing. I am now the shortest member in the family hahaha.
Are you a cuddler? Only with significant others. I would feel uncomfortable if a non-SO cuddled me as I am not a touchy person to begin with, except when it comes to hugs.
Sleep on your back or stomach? Stomach. I could never sleep on my back; I feel too exposed.
Do you go to the bathroom with the door open or closed? I always close the bathroom doors. Kimi has the tendency to pee on the bathroom floor so I make sure he doesn’t follow me in there.
Do you dress for style or comfort? More for style. I do take comfort into account, but looking nice and feeling confident in my outfit honestly takes precedence for me.
Think of the last time you were angry. Why were you angry? 15,000 cases today.
Would you marry someone if they were unable to have sex? Yeah. It would even be a bit of a relief, honestly, because it means less pressure for me to have sex to please my partner.
Have you ever made a boyfriend or girlfriend cry? Yes, both happy and sad tears.
Does heartbreak really feel as bad as it sounds? It depends on the person, I guess. Some can handle breakups well, and I’m not one of them.
How long has it been since you had sex? It would be 7 months this April.
Who was the last person to call you babe? My ex probably.
Last reason you went to the ER? I’ve never been to.
Were you a planned pregnancy for your parents? Yeah. They were having trouble conceiving at first, but my mom eventually found out she was pregnant with me on her 27th birthday.
How old was your mom when she gave birth to you? ^ 27.
Have you ever taken pictures in a photo booth? Yes, many times.
When was the last time you shaved your legs? A couple of weeks ago. I’ve been meaning to shave again but I’ve just been sooooooo lazy.
What facial cleanser do you use? I don’t use any products on my skin.
Do you use a blowdryer? Nope.
How many purses do you own?: 3 – I now have more than one! Haha. A month ago I had to buy bayongs from this small business for these PR kits we needed to send out and they included a couple of purses as freebies. Since we’re all working from home, I got to keep them since I was the one who placed the order heheh.
What are your top five favorite stores to shop for clothes? I really just stop by stalls of small businesses I see at the mall and see what trendy pieces I can get from them.
What kind of clothes do you mostly wear? I like halter and tank tops, paired with denim jeans.
What about shoes? Sneakers. You’ll rarely see me wearing anything else.
Have you ever cheated on the significant other that you have now?
For that one week a month, do you hate being a woman? I’ll feel icky about it every now and then, especially if my flow happens to be heavy; but for the most part I don’t have any complaints. I think bleeding out every month is actually kind of fucking hardcore.
What are your first thoughts when your visitor visits? Be relieved. I’ve never had irregularity issues with my period, so every time it comes it usually serves as a reassurance that there continues to be no problem.
Favorite underwear brand? Don’t have any.
Last thing you bought at the mall? Three new pods for my vape.
Do your parents like your boyfriend/girlfriend?
What color are your pillows? They’re the same style as my current bedsheet, so they’re also blue.
What if an ex asked to be back in your life? I think it would be nice if we would at least have lunch somewhere to catch up, then ask her what led her to that point.
Don’t you just love DVR? We didn’t use it often.
If you're on a laptop, how much charge does it have left? 93%.
Last gift you recieved? I got lunch from Bea after our virtual event with the media for one of our clients. Later that day, Kata also had banana bread delivered to my place :)
Lesson you recently learned? What to do when my candle starts tunneling, which I had looked up literally no more than 5 minutes ago because it started happening to my scented candle :(

Chapter 9: The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up
Never Land
Up in the Never Land sky, there was a small ball of glowing light flying through. Upon a closer look however, it would be revealed that it was a small woman with blonde hair, a green dress and wings. It was Tinker Bell, the most famous fairy in all of Never Land.
Things had been pretty quiet in Never Land lately and the usually tightknit group of Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, and the Lost Boys had been off doing their own things. Tink had just come from Pixie Hollow where she had been visiting with her fellow fairies. Now that the visit was over, she was looking to rejoin with her other friends.
As she passed by Skull Rock, a strange sound came to her tiny ears. It sounded as if there was some kind of commotion coming from within.
Flying in toward one of the holes that resembled eye sockets, she perched on the edge and gazed inside. What she saw was quite a surprise.
The Lost Boys were currently in the midst of a fight with a pair of unusual opponents: a redheaded girl dressed in pink and a yellow furred dog. The girl was brandishing what appeared to be a giant flower covered key.
Tink had never seen the girl or the dog around Never Land before. She wondered where they had come from.
But then, the fairy took a long and hard look at the girl. There was something oddly familiar about her and the weapon she carried.
Then Tink’s eyes opened wide in sudden realization. She had seen the girl before.
Turning around, she flew up and headed in the direction of the mainland. She had to find Peter right away.
________________________________________________________________
In another part of Never Land, sitting on the limb of a tall tree, the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up was playing on his panpipes. After finishing his current tune, he let out a loud sigh.
‘It’s been pretty boring lately. There doesn’t seem to be anything fun to do. There’s no more Heartless to hunt down and even the old codfish hasn’t been up to something. At least the boys have their treasure hunting to keep them amused. Wonder if they’ve found it at Skull Rock by now. Still, I sure wish something exciting would happen.’
No sooner than Peter had finished his thought, he suddenly heard a loud frantic tinkling sound. He looked up and saw his best fairy friend flying toward him at a fast speed.
“Oh, hey Tink! Glad to see you’re back. Everything alright in Pixie Hollow?” he asked as the fairy stopped in front of him.
Tink ignored Peter’s question and continued to speak in the same frantic tone. Peter suddenly became concerned as he took in what the fairy was saying.
“Whoa, Tink! Slow down! The boys are in a fight? Is it Hook?”
Tink shook her head and continued her tale. Once she was finished, Peter’s eyes shot open.
“What?! Are you sure it was her?”
Tink nodded in response.
“Then we’d better get to Skull Rock as fast as we can,” said Peter as he rose to his feet and took off into the sky. Tink followed close behind.
Despite the urgency of the situation, Peter couldn’t help but feel a little elated. ‘Looks like I got my wish after all.’
________________________________________________________________
“Take this!” shouted the boy in the bear suit as he threw his club at Kairi.
“Reflect!” shouted Kairi as she conjured up a barrier. The club bounced off it harmlessly.
“Charge!” said the two boys in raccoon suits as they sped toward Kairi with their wooden swords brandished.
But before they even reached the girl, a growling Pluto leapt in front of them with his teeth bared. The boys immediately turned around and ran while the dog pursued them while barking wildly.
‘So far, I’ve been able to fend off whatever they’ve thrown at me and I’ve avoided hurting them. But is there any way out of this pointless fight?’ thought Kairi as she deflected more slingshot attacks.
“Attention!” shouted a voice from above. Everyone gazed upwards to see Peter floating high above them with his arms crossed over his chest and a displeased look on his face. Tink floated above his shoulder.
‘Peter Pan! And Tinker Bell! Hopefully, they can help me out of this mess,’ thought Kairi as she gave a look of relief.
“Pan!” exclaimed the boy in the rabbit suit.
“You’re just in time!” shouted the boy in the fox suit.
“This girl pirate was trying to steal our treasure! But now that you’re here, we’ll stop her good!” exclaimed the one in the bear suit.
“You blockheads! She’s not a pirate! She’s a friend!” Peter shouted angrily.
“Huh?” exclaimed all the boys at the same time as Peter landed on the ground and they all gathered around him.
“You remember that boy Sora I told you about?” asked Peter.
“Oh! The one you saved from Hook along with Wendy, Tink and his friends?” asked the boy in the rabbit suit.
Kairi felt a little annoyed when she heard the last statement. ‘Sora did a little more than just be saved by you, Peter.’
“That’s the one. And it just so happens that this girl is his friend, Kairi. So, you all ought to be ashamed of yourselves for attacking her!” chided Peter.
“Well, how were we supposed to know that?!” exclaimed the one in the fox suit.
“Yeah! We’d never seed her before!” said the boy in the bear suit. The one in the skunk suit nodded in agreement.
“You shouldn’t have attacked her!” accused the one in the rabbit suit.
“You started it!” said the two boys in raccoon suits.
The boys immediately started brawling with each other. Peter ignored the boys’ fighting as he approached Kairi and smiled at her. “Welcome back to Never Land, Kairi! Glad to see you’re more awake this time.”
“Er, thank you, Peter. And for the record, I wasn’t stealing anything from your treasure chest. I was only looking in it,” said Kairi.
“Oh, well, no harm done then. In fact, it’s great that you came back, Kairi,” said Peter.
“It is?”
“Yes. Why, a few minutes ago, I was thinking how it’s been pretty boring lately. But now that you’re here, I can think of a million things we can do. So, first, let me show you around Never Land. Always like to give the grand tour to friends,” said Peter.
“Um that won’t be necessary, Peter. In fact, there’s something important I need to talk to you about right now.”
“Oh, come on. Let’s have some fun first. You were so sleepy last time, you missed out on so much. Just a quick fly around and then we’ll get to whatever you want to talk about,” said Peter.
‘Looks like I don’t have a choice. I’ll play along for now and maybe he’ll be more cooperative later.’
“Well, okay then. But what about Pluto?” asked Kairi pointing to the dog.
“Men!” shouted Peter causing the boys to stop their fighting, stand at attention and salute. “Head back to the hideout and take the dog with you. But watch your shadows around him. Dogs tend to bite them off.”
“Right, Pan! Come on, doggy!” said the boy in the fox suit gesturing to Pluto to come to him.
Pluto looked hesitant as he gazed up at Kairi. It was as if he was asking her if he should go with them.
Kairi was skeptical about trusting her companion to the boys who only a few minutes ago, were attacking them. But since Peter seemed to be able to control them, Pluto would probably be okay.
“Go with them, Pluto. I’ll see you soon,” said Kairi. With her blessing received, Pluto walked over to the boys and they all headed out of the cave.
Peter then turned his back to Kairi. “Hop on!”
“Are you sure you can carry me like that?” asked Kairi.
“Of course! I’m pretty strong! Just wrap your arms around my shoulders.”
Kairi walked up to Peter. But before she could lay a hand on him, Tink flew right in between her and Peter and held her arms out. She had a sour look on her face.
“Whoa! What’s up with her?” she asked.
“Oh, she acts like this whenever there’s another girl around. She acted this way with Wendy and Aqua too. Never really understood why.”
A shock ran through Kairi’s mind. ‘Aqua’s been here too? Just how many Keyblade Wielders has Peter met? I’m really going to have to ask him about that later. Especially about that wooden Keyblade with Terra’s name on it.’
“Tink, just let me take her for a ride,” said Peter.
Tink shook her head.
“Tink, don’t do this,” scolded Peter.
Tink folded her arms and pouted. But she flew out of Kairi’s way and allowed her to wrap her arms around Peter.
Once she was in position, Peter rose up from the ground. Kairi tightened her grip on the boy.
“Ready to see Never Land?”
“I guess so. But can we not go to where the mermaids are?”
“Oh, you met them already?”
“Yes and they tried to drown me!” exclaimed Kairi angrily.
Peter laughed. “Yes, that sounds like them alright. Hold on tight!”
“Whoa!” screamed Kairi as Peter soared out of Skull Rock through one of eyeholes. Following close behind was Tink who was completely red with anger.
________________________________________________________________
Much later, Peter was flying through the sky with Kairi on his back. He had been all over Never Land, showing her the most notable places. Now they were heading back to Peter’s hideout.
Though still precariously holding onto Peter, Kairi had enjoyed every sight that he had shown her. She only wished that Tink would stop being such a sourpuss as she continued to trail behind with her arms folded and her face set in a jealous pout.
“So, what do you think, Kairi?”
“Never Land’s a pretty amazing place, Peter. Thank you for showing me,” said Kairi.
“No problem. But it’s too bad Sora never got a chance to see it the first time he was here. The most he saw before he left was the inside of Hook’s pirate ship.”
Returning to the subject of Sora immediately brought Kairi down. ‘He should be here seeing Never Land with us.’
“Oh. I forgot to mention. I’m really glad that you managed to get away from those bad guys in black coats.”
Kairi was surprised to hear that Peter knew about her being imprisoned by the first Organization. “How did you know about that?”
“Sora called on Tink and me a few times during one of his adventures. And the magic that enabled him to call us also let us know what was happening even if weren’t there,” said Peter.
Kairi’s surprise increased. ‘I had no idea Sora’s summons worked like that. Wait. He did mention that his summons from his first adventure like Mushu and Simba were aware of what happened. I guess, even if the summons worked differently on the next one, the same thing applied and all of them are aware of everything that happened.’
Then a horrible thought came to her. ‘Does he already know what happened to Sora?’
“Peter, how much do you know exactly? I mean, what was the last thing you remember Sora doing?”
“Well, let me think. The last thing I remember was him going with his silver haired friend to this stern looking old man. I think they were taking some kind of test or something. After that, nothing else. Probably for the best. Tests are boring.”
‘Peter’s knowledge of what Sora was doing must have been cut off when Riku and him started the Mark of Mastery exam. Master Yen Sid did say they would lose all their powers and abilities at the start. So, he doesn’t know that Sora’s gone.’
Despite this fact, Kairi didn’t feel any better. When she started on the journey, it never occurred to her how she was going to break the news of Sora’s fate to any friends of his she might meet along the way.
“Even though it stopped, it was pretty fun joining Sora in a way on his adventures. Though I do wish he would have called on me more especially when fighting those guys in black coats. I would have shown them a thing or two and we would have beaten them just as easily as Hook.”
‘No, you wouldn’t have, Peter. Fighting the Organization, both the old and the new, is nothing like fighting Captain Hook. They are more dangerous than you think, and Sora would never have put you in a fight like that.’
“There it is!” exclaimed Peter pointing downward. Kairi looked over Peter’s shoulder and saw a large tree with a hangman’s noose hanging from its longest limb.
“Is that your hideout?” asked Kairi.
“Yep. Hangman’s Tree. Prepare for landing!”
Once they were directly over the tree, without warning, Peter flipped over. Kairi shrieked as the surprise caused her to lose her grip and fall feet first.
As Kairi closed in on the tree, she ended up falling through the top of it and onto a slide. She continued to scream as she slid until she came to a soft landing on a bed.
After recovering from the sudden thrill ride, Kairi heard a familiar bark. She looked ahead and saw Pluto bounding up to her. The dog leapt onto the bed and licked Kairi on the cheek. Kairi giggled.
“Thanks, Pluto. I needed that. Good to see you got here safe.”
“Enjoy the ride down, Kairi?”
Kairi looked and saw Peter and Tink hovering close by. She frowned. “You could’ve warned me you were going to do that.”
“What fun would that be? Right, Tink?” asked Peter causing Tink to laugh.
“Not the most thoughtful pair, are they Pluto?” asked Kairi. Pluto nodded in agreement.
Peter floated over to a thronelike chair. After sitting down, he shouted, “Men! Fall in!”
In response, the Lost Boys dropped down from the ceiling, hanging from their feet like bats. Kairi gasped in surprise.
“Sound off!” ordered Peter.
One by one, the Lost Boys disengaged from ceiling and landed on their feet. They each gave a salute while saying their name.
“Slightly!” said the one in the fox suit.
“Nibs!” said the one in the rabbit suit.
“The Twins!” said the two in the racoon suits.
Then the one in the bear suit dropped down and landed on his head. “Cubby,” he muttered.
“Oh my gosh! Are you okay?” asked Kairi as she got up and rushed to Cubby’s side.
“I’m fine. This happens all the time,” said Cubby as he picked himself up.
“Yeah, it’s no problem,” said one of the Twins.
“Cubby’s head is the hardest in all of Never Land,” said the other one as the both of them pounded on Cubby’s head causing him to groan in pain.
“See?” they said together.
Kairi was about to object to their ill treatment of their comrade when suddenly, the Lost Boy in the skunk suit dropped into her arms. He smiled up at her.
“Now I remember you. Don’t think I forgot about you beaning me with a slingshot,” she said sternly.
The Lost Boy said nothing. He just continued to smile at her.
Kairi became concerned. “Can’t he talk?”
“Nope. He never learned. His name’s Toodles,” said Slightly.
Peter then stood up on his chair and announced, “This certainly has become quite a day and we have much to celebrate. Now that Kairi’s here, she can be our new mother and tell us stories and do anything else a mother can do for us.”
The Lost Boys cheered. Kairi, however, had a different reaction.
‘Mother? Seriously?’
“And even better! Since Kairi’s come to Never Land, Sora can’t be far behind. You’ll all finally get to meet him, and we’ll have many great adventures,” continued Peter causing the Lost Boys to cheer even louder.
Kairi’s heart sank. ‘I’ve got to tell them. But how am I supposed to do that? How do you tell a group of boys who won’t grow up that someone they know is gone?’
“Uh, Peter?” asked Kairi. But she was drowned out by the revelry of the Lost Boys.
“Peter!” Kairi shouted louder. Still, she wasn’t heard.
“PETER!”
After that outburst, Kairi found everyone’s eyes on her. All of them looked confused as to why she had shouted.
“Something wrong, Kairi?” asked Peter.
Kairi let out a sad sigh as she set Toodles down on the ground. “Something is, Peter. I really hate to tell you all this. But Sora isn’t coming.”
The Lost Boys gasped. Tink jingled in confusion. Peter floated off his chair and landed right in front of Kairi.
“What do you mean he’s not coming? I mean, if you’re here, he can’t far behind, right?” he asked.
“I’m sorry, Peter. But Sora is…” Kairi struggled to find the right word. “…lost.”
“You mean like us? A Lost Boy?” asked Slightly.
“No. Not like you at. You see, during our last adventure, something really awful happened, and Sora was lost. That’s actually what I wanted to talk to you about. I’m looking for him and I was hoping that you could help me,” said Kairi.
“So, he was looking for you and now you’re looking for him? Boy, you two seem to lose each other a lot,” said Peter.
‘You don’t need to remind me of that.’
Peter sighed and floated back to his chair. “Men, it looks like we won’t be getting our great adventure after all.”
“Aww!” groaned the disappointed Lost Boys.
“But Kairi can still be our mother, right?” asked Nibs.
“I’m sorry, boys. But that’s not why I came here. I came here looking for Sora. In fact, I was kind of hoping Peter or Tink may have seen him. But it seems that they haven’t. Is that right?” asked Kairi causing both the boy and the fairy to shake their heads no.
“You boys haven’t seen anyone like Sora, have you? Brown spiky hair? Dressed in red and black clothing? Carries a giant key like mine but not as flowery?” asked Kairi.
“Nope,” said Slightly.
“Haven’t seed anyone like that,” said Cubby.
Kairi sighed and then held up the Wayfinder to look at it. ‘Then why did it bring me here?’
“Well, if none of you can help me find Sora, then I guess I should be on my way. It was nice meeting you all though even if we didn’t start on the right foot and I am sorry to disappoint you. Uh where’s the way out?” asked Kairi.
The Lost Boys pointed in the direction of a passage. Inside was a staircase that led upwards.
“Thanks. Come on, Pluto,” said Kairi as she sadly walked toward the passage with Pluto trailing behind her.
Unseen by Kairi, as she was leaving, Tink waved pleasantly goodbye with a smug smile on her face. She clearly was not too broken up about having to see her go.
“What’s the matter with her, Pan?” asked Nibs.
“I don’t know. Sure, we’re not getting a new adventure with Sora. But we’re not that sad about it,” said Peter.
“No one should be sad in Never Land!” exclaimed the Twins.
“Yes. This is a place to laugh and have fun and never be sad at all,” said Slightly with Toodles nodding nearby.
“I agree. Men, we cannot let Kairi leave so sad. We must find a way to cheer her up,” said Peter.
Tink floated in front of Peter. She tinkled in an objecting tone to make it clear that she didn’t want Kairi to come back at all.
“No, Tink. We are going to do this. Sora wouldn’t want his friend to not have a fun time in Never Land. Right?” asked Peter.
Tink folded her arms and pouted. But she did give a begrudging nod of agreement.
“So, what can we do to cheer her up?” asked Peter.
“How about another treasure hunt?” suggested the Twins.
“Nah. She already founded the treasure and she wasn’t even trying. She’s too good. Hey, how about we take her to meet the mermaids?” asked Cubby.
“She’s already done that and for some reason, she didn’t like that very much,” said Peter.
“So much for your great idea,” said Slightly as he bopped Cubby on the head.
Then Peter’s face lit up. “I’ve got it! I know just what we can do for her!”
________________________________________________________________
Outside Hangman’s Tree, Kairi sat on a nearby rock. Pluto was sitting in front of her while she gazed at the Wayfinder.
“’Follow in the footsteps of your special one and a broken heart may be healed.’ That’s what the woman in my dream said to always remember on this journey, Pluto,” said Kairi causing Pluto to look confused.
“Yeah. I don’t get it either. I also don’t understand much of the stuff she told me like it would bring me to where I needed to be and wherever that was, there would be a reason. But what could it be?”
Kairi let out a deep sigh as Pluto nuzzled up to her in sympathy. “I knew getting Sora back wasn’t going to be easy. But I never thought it would be this hard.”
“Kairi!”
Kairi turned back toward Hangman’s Tree. Peter had emerged from one of the entrances and was flying toward her.
“What is it, Peter?” she asked dryly.
“Look, the boys and I are sorry about what happened in there. Let us make it up to you,” said Peter.
“Thanks, Peter. But I don’t think there’s anything you all could do,” said Kairi as she and Pluto began to walk away.
“Oh, there is! In fact, it may even help you look for Sora,” said Peter.
Kairi stopped in her tracks and turned back. “Really? What is it?”
“You’re going to love this. In fact, Sora actually wanted you to try it when he planned to bring you here himself,” said Peter as he floated up to Kairi and gave her a big smile.
“Kairi, would you like to learn how to fly?”

an interview with blueparacosm (they/them)
what are you working on right now? right now i’m working on a multi-chapter merlin au (murphamy, duh). murphy as the sorcerer, bellamy as the prince, octavia as the half-sister sorceress, lexa as the painfully vague great dragon, you get the gist.
what’s something you’d like to write one day? i’d love to write a big canonverse adventure story with murphy and bellamy. i love the idea of a story of about 35k words of them traveling together, getting to know each other better, and having all the conversations they should be having in canon. hopping planets, anomaly shenanigans, cave spelunking, bardo breakout, whatever the hell etherea ends up being. mostly just because i want a snow kiss on nakara. i won’t lie to you. just something big and colorful and fun. the works. if i do end up writing it, it’ll be after the show is over and all these new weird settings have been? fleshed? i forget the phrase. surely it’s not ‘fleshed’… ed’s note: they mean ‘fleshed out’, probably.
what is the fanwork you’re most proud of? definitely “alone with you.” i’m used to writing kind of absurd and fast-paced stories and “alone with you” stands out to me as one of my more genuine fics that takes its time, and i was really surprised by how well that change of pace went over with people who read it. i really wrote that one for myself, it was almost a vent fic about depression and comfort and nature and solitude and other loser dork shit, and so to see that people resonated with its themes was so heartwarming and encouraging. i even had a few people tell me they were laying around, reading it outside, feeling comforted and calmed by the mossy rock of it all. so i suppose it’s my favorite because of the great response to it, and because it was so different from anything else i’ve written and was basically just me testing the waters to see if people would mind if i spent more time on imagery and character development and yet, apparently turned out actually readable. who would’ve thunk?
why did you first start writing fic? god, i must have been 14? so when s2 was airing, and i’d never read or written fanfic or even been part of a fandom, i just loved murphy so much that i had to talk about it with someone, so i joined twitter and inevitably found ao3. and i found i loved fics and i’ve always liked writing but didn’t know what to do with stories after i’d written them, so i thought i’d try my hand at writing and posting something. i think i got a pretty good response on my first few fics (orphaned since then because… good god) for a 14 year old with shitty grammar and a weird writing style and terrible dialogue but a lot of enthusiasm, and i thought it was so much fun to share my ideas and get nice feedback from others, so i kept going. :)
what frustrates you most about fic writing? i’ll be real with you dog: i never feel good enough. i swear i could write a fic with 1000 kudos and 1000 lovely comments and i would still think i could’ve and should’ve done better. it’s easy to forget we do this for fun and for free and that i could be a hell of a lot worse. at a certain point, i think my understanding of what makes a good story surpassed my actual writing ability, so now i’m scrambling to catch up and write something i’m proud of again. fingers crossed for that merlin au.
what are your top five songs right now? “those who can’t, cheat” by clarence clarity “georgia on my mind” by microwave “eggshell” by runnner “nice house” by joy wave “gay in the south”by susto
what are your inspirations (books, songs, other fic)? my inspirations are usually shows for structure and short stories for tone/style! my attention span is pathetic so i barely ever read books anymore which is … not promising for a wannabe writer and i should probably get that figured out if i want to continue improving but we’ll cross that bridge when i am prepared to admit i have arrived at it. but, mostly shows. i love watching tv and am constantly analyzing shows’ story structure and making notes of what i thought worked and what i didn’t like. getting a masterclass in suspense from black sails right now. all television is educational television if you try hard enough.
what attracts you to writing about Murphamy? what first attracted you?murphamy has such good bones. of course i’d want them to be canon, but their personalities mesh so well in the focused and organized and fun world of fics. there’s just something different about them in that they make every single AU their bitch. there’s nowhere they don’t shine and even if they weren’t already my only concern in the world, their adaptability makes them the perfect control variable for trying out a million different writing styles and lengths and genres. pirate au you got it. wizard au hell yeah. sports au let’s hear it for the boys. canon divergence release the beasts. fuck it i wrote them as witnesses to the crucifixion of jesus christ once and it wasn’t even that weird. they’re my favorite lab rats.
besides Murphamy, what’s your favorite ship on t100? i can honestly say i don’t care for anyone else. there are plenty of pairings i could boogie with and plenty of murphy ships that i joke about but none i’m actively rooting for or seeking out fan-made content about. murphamy or bust. i suppose i liked clexa, sea mechanic, and jonty well enough when they were in their prime but all good and gay things must apparently come to an end.
besides Murphy, who’s your favorite character on t100? oh sweet jasper… sweet jasper come home to me…
would you ever write a sheidheda/murphy fic? what about other rarepairs? i absolutely would. in fact i’ll do it right now. a story about those two going head to head would be a literal gold mine do you think this is a funny silly little game? it’s not. the tension between murphy and an ancient sexy demon is something that can actually be so personal but my mutuals are getting increasingly angrier with me for talking about it. not to say i’m stopping. as for other rare pairs i’ve been genuinely interested in ECHORI lately you know like an insane person. and i loved zev/murphy. it’s a cold, cruel world we live in. wouldn’t be opposed to one last gabriel/murphy hurrah before the show ended either. OH! OH! and someone should write some wells/murphy. not me because i’m writing sheidurphy.
what are some things you’d like to recommend? if anyone has a food lion near them, in the bakery they have these boxes of little sugar cookies and they’re only like four dollars but there’s like 25 cookies in there it’s unfathomable.
also these baller writers on ao3: sapphictomaz, hopskipaway, oogaboogu, sadie18, and maunwocha!
and for my finale i’m gonna plug my murphy playlist, and my murphamy playlist. because sharing is caring and music is good and i’m proud of them.
it was my absolute joy to interview blueparacosm! you can find them primarily on Twitter at slugcities. my favorite blueparacosm fics are: thirty-five paper frogs, an exploration of Murphy and Jasper’s friendship while they’re on the Ring together; the fantastic it’s good to be me, an absolutely poetic examination of prime!Murphy at the end of season 6; fish boy, the heart-wrenching mermaid!Murphy fic; and lastly, the old magic oddities show, a really weird fic that shows off the adaptability of these characters in a wholly new light.
