Pulling up to the house, Maddy frowned as she saw the three other cars in the driveway -- one of which appeared to be an equipment van. What in the name of...???
Spotting a familiar redhead, her frown only deepened. "You have GOT to be kidding me..."

Tomorrow night we will be introducing M&W to the Sherlock Holmes TV Series... Hubs and I are quite excited about this.
Also this week W read the entirety of Check Please, including Madison. We talked about my writing of fanfic for that media and he was most interested in when I had written stories with sad endings... We discussed how and why sometimes sad endings were sometimes more realistic, especially when dealing with professional sports men and being bisexual or gay.

A single confirmed COVID-19 infection in an LTC facility resident, or more than one infection in employees or staff in a 14-day period constitutes an outbreak. Residential care facilities also represent group living facilities where COVID-19 can be easily spread. We investigate residents, staff and close contacts of infected individuals for possible exposure. These outbreak figures are reported directly to MSDH by the facility. Many of the cases and deaths reported by facilities may not yet be included in our totals of lab-reported cases. More on Surety Bid Bonds https://swiftbonds.com/bid-bond/.
Straightforward Ideas When Thinking Of Bid Bonds
Bid Bonds are quite complicated to understand, specially if you don’t understand how it really works. Most folks consider this as insurance, however it’s actually a type of guarantee that the principal will perform their work correctly for the obliged. Insurance providers usually provide a Surety Bid Bond, but you cannot call it insurance because its function is different. Most folks would require you to get a Surety Bid Bond before they consider your services because it is a form of guarantee to them.
If you’d like to consider a license bond, permit bond, commercial bond and more, you must know how they work. We will give you some info about the importance of Bid Bonds and how they work.
A Simple Explanation On A Bid Bond
Bid Bonds will actually be required by the public since it could protect them and it will guarantee that the principal would fulfill their duties. You are the principal so you have to get a license Surety Bid Bond to guarantee that your company will invariably adhere to the laws and you should obtain a contract bond to guarantee that a public construction project will be completed. These are only a few examples that will give you an idea about Bid Bonds.
This is actually made for the consumers as they are protected by the bond, but it will benefit you as well since they will trust you in case you have a Surety Bid Bond.
How Does It Work?
Bid Bonds are generally known as a three-party agreement between the principal, the surety company and the obliged. The principal is actually the employer or company which will complete the work while the obliged is referred to as the project owner.
Construction businesses would be asked for by the law to have their Bid Bonds when they’re chosen for a public project. When the government needs to finish a public project, the winning contractor should secure a host of bonds.
The bond will guarantee that the sub-contractors and other employees would be paid even when the contractor defaults. The contractor will likely be responsible in covering any losses, but as soon as they already reached their limit, the duty will fall to the surety company.
Applying For A Surety Bid Bond
Bid Bonds are often offered by insurance businesses, but you’ll find some standalone surety businesses which will concentrate on these products. A surety company must be licensed by a state Department of Insurance.
It won’t be easy to apply for a bond as the candidates will have to proceed through a process that is very comparable to applying for a loan. The bond underwriters would evaluate the financial history of an applicant, credit profile and other key factors.
It only signifies that there is still a chance that you will not be approved for a Surety Bid Bond, specially if the bond underwriters actually saw something negative.
How Much Is A Surety Bid Bond?
You can’t really put an exact cost for a bid bond since the cost can be impacted by various factors like the bond type, bond amount, where it will be issued, contractual risk, credit history of the applicant and more. There are thousands of different bonds available today and the cost will depend upon the bond that you want to acquire. The amount of bond that you will avail can also be a factor since you may select a $10,000 bond or a $25,000 bond or higher.
If you already have a credit score of 700 and above or very near this number, you can qualify for the standard bonding market and you just need to pay 1 to 4 percent of the bid bond amount. It indicates that if you may actually get a $10,000 bond, you only need to pay about $100 to $400.
The Approval Of Your Request
There is a chance that your bond request will be declined by the insurance companies and it will usually depend upon their background check. If they believe that providing a bond to you will be a big risk, they won’t release a bid bond for you.
Credit rating is also a big factor since in case you have a bad credit history, it will be hard for you to get a bid bond as the businesses are thinking about you as a risk. If you have a bad credit rating, you may still be approved for the bond, but you will pay an interest rate of 10 to 20 percent.
If you are going to apply for a bid bond, make sure that you understand the whole process so you won’t make a mistake. It won’t be easy to apply, but if your requirements are complete and you are eligible, you should qualify.
A Deeper Take A Look At Bid Bonds in Building A Bid Bond is a kind of surety bond utilized to guarantee that a professional bidding on a project or job will enter into the contract with the obligee if granted.
A Bid Bond is released in the amount of the contract quote, with the similar requirements as that of an Efficiency Bond.

How Conor McGregor Beat Donald Cerrone at U.F.C. 246
LAS VEGAS — The first punch Conor McGregor landed bloodied Donald Cerrone’s nose. The former two-division champion, in his first bout since October 2018, landed a sharp right jab that sneaked between Cerrone’s gloves.
Seconds later came the left-footed kick to the jaw that sent Cerrone, a fearless 36-year-old veteran, reeling.
And then the punches rained down from McGregor as Cerrone sagged to the canvas, the bleeding speeding up. The throttling didn’t stop until the referee, Herb Dean, stepped in to save Cerrone, halting the main event of U.F.C. 246 after just 40 seconds on Saturday night.
So, if you were wondering whether 15 months on the sidelines robbed McGregor of his signature punching power and panache, they’re all still intact. The 31-year-old predicted an emphatic win, and delivered.
McGregor, a former world champion at 145 and 155 pounds, pointed out after the fight that his win makes him the first U.F.C. fighter with knockout victories in three weight classes.
“I’m very proud of my accomplishment,” McGregor said in the octagon after the fight. “Etched my name in history one more time.”
The win pushed McGregor’s mixed martial arts record to 22-4 (he also lost to Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match), and sets up several intriguing options for his next bout. Earlier this week, he discussed the potential for a 2020 rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov, who defeated McGregor in October 2018, and boxing matches with Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. If McGregor stays at 170 pounds, he could also fight Jorge Masvidal or the division’s champion, Kamaru Usman.
McGregor’s performance energized the heavily partisan crowd at the T-Mobile Arena, where organizers expected a sellout. It also stunned Cerrone, who entered the octagon with a size advantage, standing 6 feet tall to McGregor’s 5-foot-9. Cerrone also had more experience fighting as a welterweight. Cerrone was previously 6-4 in bouts at 170 pounds, compared with 1-1 for McGregor.
But when the fight started, McGregor, as he predicted, overwhelmed Cerrone with speed and precision.
“This happened this fast,” Cerrone said after the fight.
Conor McGregor takes 40 seconds to dispatch Donald Cerrone.
Conor McGregor bloodied Donald Cerrone’s nose with the first punch he landed.
He landed several more after that, flush and powerful, and several shoulder strikes. A left kick from McGregor wobbled Cerrone, and a barrage of punches sent the fighter known as Cowboy to the canvas, where McGregor continued pounding him.
Referee Herb Dean stopped it after just 40 seconds.
Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone are preparing to enter the octagon.
Conor McGregor, the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s biggest star, is finally back in the octagon after a 15-month absence.
More than three years after losing to the boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a highly popular crossover bout, and after tapping out against Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018, McGregor is scheduled to headline U.F.C. 246 on Saturday night. The 31-year-old former champion in two weight classes will face Donald Cerrone, a kickboxing specialist from Albuquerque who is known professionally as Cowboy.
Leading up to the fight, McGregor has presented himself as mature and focused, still capable of spectacular violence in the octagon, but also promising that the numerous legal problems that derailed his 2019 are behind him.
McGregor, despite his absence, is the promotion’s best-known fighter. McGregor’s fans packed smaller events in Las Vegas leading up to the fight, and this week Reebok announced the release of a new shoe endorsed by McGregor. That a fighter who hasn’t won a bout since 2016 can generate this much attention from fans and sponsors highlights McGregor’s flair for self-promotion.
But he still has to fight.
Holly Holm won the co-main event with a unanimous decision.
The former bantamweight champion Holly Holm earned a unanimous decision win over Raquel Pennington in a tight, tactical rematch of their 2015 bout. Holm, 38, is a former world champion in boxing and kickboxing, but instead of high-impact strikes, she followed a game plan heavy on clinches and body locks.
It wasn’t exciting — the fans booed several times and Holm said after the fight that she could have showcased her skills better — but it worked. The judges scored the bout 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28.
Holm is perhaps best known for being the first fighter to defeat Ronda Rousey, who was a huge star at the time. But she went just 2-5 in seven U.F.C. bouts after that signature win before Saturday night. Her professional mixed martial arts record is now 13-5.
Aleksei Oleinik won his 58th fight as a professional.
Russia’s Aleksei Oleinik defeated Minnesota’s Maurice Greene by second-round submission, giving the 42-year-old an astonishing 58 wins as a professional mixed martial artist.
The two heavyweights spent a lot of time on the canvas, where Oleinik, nicknamed The Boa Constrictor, preferred to fight.
By midway through Round 2, both men looked exhausted, and wound up pretzeled together near the fence before Oleinik trapped Greene in an arm bar.
The victory ends a two-fight losing streak for Oleinik, while Greene has now lost two straight.
Tom Brady is among the celebrities watching.
A series of celebrity sightings at U.F.C. 246 turned up one fairly unusual spectator for this time of year: N.F.L. quarterback Tom Brady, on the eve of football’s conference championship games.
Brady, who has won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, lost in the wild-card round of the playoffs to the Tennessee Titans, so he didn’t have to prepare for the A.F.C. championship game on Sunday (where the Titans will play the Kansas City Chiefs).
Before this year, Brady had played in the last eight A.F.C. championship games.
Brady was shown along with several football personalities, including Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey, Browns players Myles Garrett and Baker Mayfield, and Raiders owner Mark Davis, who is moving the team from Oakland, Calif., to Las Vegas.
The most unusual U.F.C. spectator in recent memory, however: President Trump, who watched Jorge Masvidal beat Nate Diaz in November at Madison Square Garden.
Brian Kelleher wins with a guillotine choke.
Ode Osbourne’s U.F.C. debut started with such promise. The 28-year-old from Milwaukee scooted on all fours to the center of the octagon, then leapt to smash opponent Brian Kelleher with a flying right hand. But the rest of the bout belonged to Kelleher, who promptly dumped Osbourne on his back, and maneuvered him into a guillotine choke, forcing Osbourne to submit.
“This is all I know, man,” Kelleher told commentator Joe Rogan immediately after the fight. “I know fighting and nothing else. It was my time to keep my job.”
The win was Kelleher’s first since February 2018.
Former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis loses to Diego Ferreira.
Anthony Pettis would have preferred a fight that fit his nickname of Showtime — high-action and high-impact. But his opponent Diego Ferreira didn’t care for Pettis’s preferences.
Ferreira, a 35-year-old Brazilian, stalked Pettis and when he caught up, clung to him like a wet suit. He dragged Pettis to the canvas more than once and, early in Round 2, trapped the former lightweight champion in a rear naked choke, forcing Pettis to submit. The stoppage came at 1:46 of the second round.
Pettis’s $155,000 guarantee was the highest for any fighter on the card outside of the main event. Ferreira earned a $50,000 guarantee and another $50,000 for the win.
Roxanne Modafferi closes the preliminary bouts with a bloody, dominant win over Maycee Barber, who hurt a knee.
After two rounds of being mauled by the veteran fighter Roxanne Modafferi, flyweight prospect Maycee Barber summoned a ringside doctor to examine her wobbly left knee and determine whether she could continue.
Diagnosis: Ambiguity.
“She’s got a small partial A.C.L. tear. She’s fine,” the doctor told the referee before the start of the third round, referring to her anterior cruciate ligament.
The fight continued and so did Modafferi’s dominance. According to sports books, Modafferi, a 37-year-old Las Vegas resident, was the biggest underdog on the card — as much as 6 to 1 in some casinos. But she used well-timed punches and savvy grappling to earn her 24th professional win.
Barber left the octagon with a bloody gash near her hairline, and her first loss in nine pro bouts. The scores from the judges were 30-27, 30-27 and 30-26.
Sodiq Yusuff appears to be an exciting prospect at 145 pounds.
After the opening bell, Andre Fili of Sacramento, Calif., greeted his opponent, Sodiq Yusuff, with a raised hand, looking for a sportsmanlike touching of gloves. Yusuff, a rising contender from Camp Spring, Md., responded with a front kick that missed Fili’s face by what looked like an inch.
From there, the two featherweights spent three rounds trading punches — Yusuff landed more powerful ones — and takedowns. Fili brought Yusuff to the canvas more often, but Yusuff’s takedowns were more authoritative.
The bout ended in a workmanlike win for the 26-year-old Yusuff, with all three judges scoring it 29-28 (two rounds to one).
Askar Askarov beats Tim Elliott with a unanimous decision.
Russian flyweight Askar Askarov remained undefeated as a pro, with a unanimous decision win over an aggressive Tim Elliott.
Askarov dropped Elliott with a crisp left hand in the first round, but spent much of the second on his back thanks to judo-style hip tosses from Elliott, a 33-year-old from Lees Summit, Mo. Askarov retreated for much of round three but landed enough punches to win the fight.
The judges’ scores were: 29-28, 30-27 and 30-27.
Drew Dober starts off the ESPN preliminary bouts with a win in 70 seconds.
That didn’t take long.
Nasrat Haqparast saw an opening for a leg kick, so he threw one. But Drew Dober, a densely-muscled southpaw, saw a bigger opening — for an overhand left. Their blows landed simultaneously, but Dober’s did damage.
Haqparast hit the mat and Dober pummeled him with punches and elbows until the referee stopped the bout. It took 70 seconds and was, according to betting odds, an upset.
“I will knock anyone out in the division, I promise,” Dober said in the ring afterward.

Sensor Sweep: The Night Land, Fritz Leiber, Scott Oden, Viking Prince
Horror Fiction (Too Much Horror Fiction): Known for penning the novel The Night of the Hunter upon which the classic 1955 movie was based, Davis Grubb (1919-1980) was a West Virginia native well-versed in the pride, poverty, tribulations and superstitions that were endemic to that region. This collection of short stories ranging over 20 years, Twelve Tales of Suspense and the Supernatural (paperback edition from Fawcett Crest, June 1965) includes some Weird Tales works as well as tales first published in popular magazines like Ellery Queen, Nero Wolfe, Woman’s Home Companion, and Collier’s.
Science Fiction (Classics of Science Fiction): The Night Land by William Hope Hodgson is not the kind of book you can recommend people rush out and buy. It is legendary for being difficult to read, and many consider it boring and tedious. However, The Night Land is one of those cult classics that have inspired a selective group of writers and readers. I had no trouble listening to an unabridged audiobook edition of the book that was just over eighteen hours long. I think hearing it rather than reading let me appreciate the archaic style Hodgson developed for telling his story.
Science Fiction (Strange at Ecbatan): Fritz Leiber was born on Christmas Eve in 1910. He died in 1992. One of my favorites among his novels, The Sinful Ones, and its earlier version, “You’re All Alone.” The Sinful Ones had an odd publication history. It began as a novella called “You’re All Alone”, slated for John Campbell’s fantasy companion to Astounding, Unknown. When the World War II paper shortage killed Unknown, Fritz Leiber had to abandon it.
Publishing (Kairos): Some significant context: digging under the following data points turned up that it predominantly applies to oldpub. In that regard, they make for a pretty accurate snapshot of oldpub’s readership ca. 2014. What do we find?
Women prefer to read books written by women.
Men prefer to read books written by men.
Women read more fiction than men–about four times more according to some sources.
Women like reading new books more than men do.
Pulp Magazines (Wasteland and Sky): Welcome to our final installment of this short series on Ron Goulart’s Cheap Thrills history of pulp book. Even though it has only been three entries, we have been through much. But now it is time cover what I believe the majority of the readers of this blog have the most interest in.
In this last entry we will cover the concluding three chapters of the work, hopefully leaving us with one last impression of what the pulps were truly about. In the previous post I discussed the majority of the book to show just how many similarities there were between the old and the new, and how heroes and hope were the mainstays of the form.
Fiction (DMR Books): Sax Rohmer exploded onto the pop lit scene in 1913 with the publication of The Mystery of Dr. Fu-Manchu—published in the U.S. as The Insidious Dr. Fu Manchu. Sax’s tale of the machinations of the “Devil Doctor” was an instant sensation. Rohmer would write two more Fu-Manchu—or “Fu Manchu” as it came to be spelled—novels in the next four years. He wouldn’t write another such novel for nearly fifteen years, but the impact of those first three reverberated for decades.
Comic Books (Broadswords & Blasters): Most Sword & Sorcery fans consider “Crom the Barbarian” by Gardener F. Fox and John Giunta (Out of This World #1, June 1950) the first true S&S comic. One can make the case that even earlier was the Prince Valiant comic strip back in 1937. This strip by Hal Foster influenced everything that came after. Prince Valiant follows the adventures of a knight in Arthurian times, has an encounter with a dinosaur and a witch. Does that make it S&S? Not really since the bulk of the strip isn’t supernatural but a costume drama. Fox’s Crom is truly a Howardian pastiche like no other.
Old Science Fiction (Pulp net): Captain Future, published by Thrilling (aka Ned Pine‘s Better), was probably its third most-popular pulp hero and possibly the only explicitly sf pulp hero. Editor Mort Weisinger developed the idea for the character, but main author Edmond Hamilton took that idea and turned it into Captain Future. Most likely people today would remember him from the poster in the TV series The Big Bang Theory, which is a blowup of one of the pulp covers.
Sherlock Holmes (The Passing Tramp): In January 1959 madly prolific Wisconsin author August Deleth (1909-1971), the so-called sage of Sauk City, wrote in a column in the Madison Capital Times about a recent query he had had from a reader that had obviously hit home.  Late in the previous year he had published The Return of Solar Pons, his latest volume of adventures about Solars Pons, a detective who had started off as a Sherlock Holmes pastiche but taken on a life and (admittedly much narrower) following of his own; and the Derleth reader in question had written Derleth questioning why the author spent so much time on these stories, when he was “certainly capable of better things.”
Westerns (Brain Leakage): The Benteen name was the one Haas used when writing the Fargo series, about professional soldier of fortune Neal Fargo. Taking place in the early 1900s, the Fargo series sees its hero traveling around the world, taking dangerous jobs for money. A rough wanderer with a talent for fighting, Fargo has been described by fans of the series as “Conan with a shotgun.” And that’s pretty damn accurate. Alaska Steel is #3 in the series, but like all good pulp or adventure fiction, you can read them in any order.
RPG (Emperor Ponders): I recently read a Twitter conversation about high-level cleric characters in D&D and their effects on the game, and I thought about writing something on that. But as usually happens, I can’t tell the difference between things I have already written or just things I have thought about, because as it turns out, I already had a post about this very same thing.
Gaming (Rlyeh Reviews): If you are of a certain age, then you will remember Apocalypse. Not the ‘Apocalypse’, but Apocalypse: The Game of Nuclear Devastation, a board game published by Games Workshop in 1980 in bookcase format along with Valley of the Four Winds and Warlock. It saw generals fighting for territory in a near future Europe in conflicts that would quickly escalate into nuclear confrontations and inevitably, nuclear devastation.
Pop Culture (Walker’s Retreat): I’ve said plenty on Corporate IP ownership, and that the quality of Corporate-owned pop culture productions depend greatly on the adherance of to a concept of stewardship. If a regime holds to it, you get good stuff. If not, you get trash. Regimes turn over, so this can happen to IPs in a cyclical format. For reasons I won’t go into here, the regime that control the Gundam property have been more good than bad about being stewards of the property in the last decade and as Gundam’s 40th anniversary goes on we’re seeing this continue. The below is from the GundamOfficial channel on YouTube.
History (Didact’s Reach): The Kings and Generals channel on YouTube features a great many superb videos on many historical figures, battles, and civilisations of the past, with a distinct focus on military history. One of the best videos out of the bunch – and given the quality of their catalogue, that is saying something – is about the legendary Roman general and military commander, Nero Claudius Drusus (or Tiberius Claudius Nero – it is not quite clear exactly what his true birth name was). We know him today as Germanicus, one of the few truly unsullied heroes of the early Roman empire. His wars against the Germanic tribes, and the way in which he comported himself in these wars, is worthy of study.
Author Interview (Paint Monk): If you’ve been following Marvel’s re-acquisition of our favorite Cimmerian for the past year, then you’ve probably already caught on to one of the shining highlights of an otherwise uneven relaunch of Savage Sword of Conan — Author Scott Oden’s brilliant novella, The Shadow of Vengeance. Set after Robert E. Howard’s “The Devil in Iron” (Weird Tales, August 1934), Oden takes us on a breathtaking adventure of daring and swashbuckling sword and sorcery that is immediately reminiscent of Howard’s legendary writing.
Fiction (DMR Books): Being out of town, I stopped by a bookstore/newsstand. There was Bard II. I was familiar with the protagonist of the novel, Felimid Mac Fal, from a Keith Taylor story in the classic Swords Against Darkness II. The Maitz cover was gorgeous and the blurbs sounded cool, so I bought it. It was a rainy day, so when I got home, I proceeded to dive into Taylor’s book. As is usual with the Bard novels—as I learned later—it starts in media res, with a full-on sea battle in progress by the second or third page.

@ghxstwrxter is getting a starter cause reasons. And science.
Madison didn’t love the days her dad asked her to open the office (due to the whole having to get up early thing), but she still did it. Cause dad. And cause normally it meant she got a whole half-hour to forty-five minutes without someone trying to talk to her.
So she was more than a little taken back when she arrived to the office to find someone actually waiting outside. Who did that? Most of their clients called, set up appointments. They didn’t just hang around outside like someone waiting to get their hands on the latest gaming system.
“Uh...hi. Can I help you?”

New Post has been published on http://girlsbesthairstyle.com/30-famous-celebrity-hair-stylists/
30 Of The Most Famous Celebrity Hair Stylists
30 Of The Most Famous Celebrity Hair Stylists
ADVERTISEMENT
Do you ever wonder how celebrities get that perfect hair? Celebrity hair stylists are responsible for everything from creating the perfect cut to coaxing out the ideal texture. The best stylists work with the stars’ personal fashion sense and individual style to develop color and cuts that become part of their signature look.
We’ve all taken notice when stars have dramatically altered their look by chopping their locks or going from black to blond to red. These are the most famous celebrity hair stylists behind those genius moves.
David Mallett
Although originally from Australia, David Mallet works out of the Salon de Coiffeur in Paris. His clients include Diane Kruger, Liv Tyler, Julianne Moore and Marion Cotillard. He is known for creating the light, bouncy styles embodied by many actresses and supermodels. Mallett has created his own line of styling products, including Volume Powder, a lightweight, concentrated product that makes hair look thicker and gives it more height.
Ted Gibson
Based out of New York, David Gibson works with Anne Hathaway, Angelina Jolie, Mila Kunis and Zoe Saldana, among others. His work has appeared in major publications as well as New York Fashion Week. Gibson contributes regularly to “Good Morning America” and “The Today Show.
Serge Normant
Serge Normant styles the tresses of Christy Turlington, Reese Witherspoon and Gisele Bundchen. However, he may be best known for his longstanding relationship with Julia Roberts’ hair. He plays with his own line of products and the celebrity’s individual fashion sense to create long, sweeping looks and sophisticated updos.
Hiro Haraguchi
Hiro Haraguchi provides styling and hair care products for celebrities such as Vera Wang and Lisa Kudrow. He is considered one of the top ten hairstylists in the world by The Richest. According to his website, Hiro Haraguchi prides himself on creating a comprehensive personal look for each of his clients. He began his career in Japan and now works out of a salon in New York City.
Tracey Cunningham
Do you covet the vivid perfection of the hair of celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Drew Barrymore and Jessica Biel? Tracey Cunningham is an expert colorist behind their light-reflecting locks. Based out of Los Angeles, Cunningham carefully crafts the ginger tones of Emma Stone’s hair and Gwyneth Paltrow’s lemon tresses.
Marie Robinson
Are you familiar with Michelle Williams’ perfect blond hue? The color is the genius of Marie Robinson at work. Robinson’s infatuation with hair color stems from her artistic interests. She felt that coloring hair delivered a more immediate result than drawing or painting on paper. She’s a fan of maintaining your natural tone, but she loves playing it up to its full potential. Robinson’s other celebrity clients include Kristen Stewart and Natalie Portman.
Andy LeCompte
Madonna, Chloe Moretz, Katie Holmes and Megan Fox go to Andy LeCompte in West Hollywood for world-class styling. LeCompte’s first salon was opened in 2008, and it quickly became a hotspot for celebrities. The one-of-a-kind artwork and furniture make the salon feel like a private gallery. Personalized treatments help transform clients’ hair into works of art.
Mark Townsend
The guru behind Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s beach hair, Mark Townsend gives clients effortless style. In a town where fashion tends to be over the top, Townsend is down to earth. He is all about working with the clients’ natural style to deliver texture, interest and movement. He gets his inspiration from vintage fashion shows and clients’ own personalities.
Harry Josh
In 2013, Harry Josh came out with the Pro Tools Blow Dryer, which got tons of attention from other celebrity stylists. The 80-mph wind speed created by this dryer blows thick, frizzy strands into absolute perfection. Josh is notorious for blowing out Gisele Bundchen’s long layered hairstyle. He has also worked on the ‘dos of celebrities like Amanda Seyfried, Rose Byrne and Cindy Crawford.
Oribe Canales
Oribe Canales has been responsible for designing the locks of high-profile divas like Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Rihanna for more than 30 years. Many other hairstylists use Oribe professional hair products. The dry texture spray is one of his trendiest products to date. Oribe may be best known for his famous relationship with Jennifer Lopez or his bold fearlessness when it comes to being his true self.
Dan Sharp
Dan Sharp has styled the mermaid-like waves on A-listers like Liv Tyler, Hillary Swank, Kate Winslet and Charlize Theron. He often uses the T3 Bodywaver to create large, curling waves. He and his wife, fashion photographer Dana Menussi, own Danka Panka salon in Brooklyn, New York. They opened the salon next to their apartment so they can work close to home and maximize their time with their family. It’s a modern space with a backyard that invites clients to gather, relax and connect.
Oscar Blandi
Oscar Blandi’s celebrity clientele list includes Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Alba, Naomi Watts, Robin Wright, Ivanka Trump and Jimmy Fallon. Blandi is a fan of medium-length hair because he believes it works on almost everyone. He was responsible for chopping off Nicole Richie’s long locks in 2006 to give her the wispy bob that so many women still request today. His first salon was inside the Plaza Hotel on Fifth Avenue in New York City. He now works out of an 11,000-square-foot salon on Madison Avenue. It’s the largest salon in the city.
Kyle White
Speaking of Nicole Richie, Kyle White, the colorist at Oscar Blandi’s salon, has talked about how to create the perfect blue hue, like the one Richie sported recently. His trick is to get the hair as white as possible before transforming it into a brighter tone. Any yellow or orange tones that appear when the hair is bleached will make blue-toned hair look green once it has been colored.
Sally Hershberger
Perhaps most famous for giving Meg Ryan her adorable shag haircut in 1996, Sally Hershberger was one of the first celebrity hair stylist to offer her pricey services to the public. Although the shag haircut was hugely popular in the ‘90s, it will probably never go out of style. Hershberger believes hair should have movement, and she cuts dramatic layers into women’s hair to give it the perfect texture and shape.
Edward Tricomi
Tim Burton was inspired to create his famous Edward Scissorhands movie after having his hair artfully snipped by Edward Tricomi. Tricomi considers himself an artist who sketches a haircut in much the same way that an illustrator designs a drawing. He typically works out of his Plaza Hotel salon in Manhattan. However, Tricomi also has salons across the United States.
Garren
Garren has created iconic hairstyles on superstars such as Taylor Swift, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss and Victoria Beckham. Many of his signature styles have graced the cover of Vogue Magazine. Garren was the stylist who straightened Farrah Fawcett’s signature waves in the ‘70s, giving her a new look. Fawcett’s transformation launched Garren’s career.
Frédéric Fekkai
Frédéric Fekkai operates several salons in the United States and one in the Caribbean. Unlike many celebrity hairdressers, Fekkai eschews layers in favor of one-length hair. He has created elegant looks on Kim Basinger, Claudia Schiffer, Debra Messing, Renee Zellweger, Hillary Clinton and Dianna Agron.
Adir Abergel
Adir Abergel has styled the tresses of Kirsten Dunst, Anne Hathaway, Kristen Stewart and Jessica Biel. In 2017, he partnered with hair accessory company Lelet NY to create a collection of sculptural and artistic hair accessories. Bling is in, and the mixed-metal collection of accessories is designed to be worn on the red carpet and in everyday life.
José Eber
José Eber’s hair is as long and flowing as that of a Victoria’s Secret model. He has been a favorite in the world of celebrity hair since the 1970s and has authored two books about beauty. Eber excels at creating sexy, unstructured styles and has famously styled the hair of Farrah Fawcett, Cher and Elizabeth Taylor. Eber has helped define feminine beauty for more than four decades.
Chris McMillan
One of the most notorious hairstyles of all time was “The Rachael,” Jennifer Aniston’s famous layered cut that she revealed on the TV show Friends in 1995. Chris McMillan crafted that soft, blended style. He still tends to Aniston’s mane, although she favors a less structured, beachier look nowadays. McMillan is also the brainchild behind Michelle Williams’ effortless pixie cut.
Sherron Baylock
Based in Chicago, Sherron Baylock has styled Ta’Rhonda Jones’ hair since before she landed the part on Empire. The two have collaborated on many of Jones’ sculpted looks.
Nicky Clarke
British Nicky Clarke has been a hair stylist for Cindy Crawford, David Bowie, Princess Diana, Helen Mirren, Mischa Barton and Sienna Miller. He has famously commented on Dutchess Kate’s hair, saying that she could be more adventurous with it and criticizing her grey roots, as reported in a Daily Mail article.
Orlando Pita
Orlando Pita is known for permeating his runway model clientele’s hair with volume. He has also coiffed Sarah Jessica Parker and Madonna His line of products, Orlando Pita PLAY, allows everyday people to get the same kind of volume and shine that most people only see in fashion shows.
Frank Galasso
Frank Galasso builds up women’s hair with massive, sexy volume. He is responsible for Kim Kardashian’s signature style. In order to get that signature look, he has designed a collection of hair extensions that blends easily with any hair color.
Cervando Maldonato
Felicity Jones, Kirsten Dunst and Elizabeth Moss are all clients of Cervando Maldonato. Sally Hershberger was one of Maldonato’s mentors. He now works out of Los Angeles and is passionate about the world of fashion.
Brant Mayfield
Brant Mayfield works at the Chris McMillan salon. One of his most of-the-moment clients is Ruby Rose. He has also worked with Miley Cyrus and Courtney Cox.
Robert Ramos
If you want to know where Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling get their hair done, it’s at Robert Ramos’ Estilo Salon. Jessica Alba is another one of Ramos’ famous clients.
Jon Reyman
Some celebs are just too busy to spend a lot of time at the salon. Jon Reyman is renowned for giving 15-minute haircuts. He’s all about cutting the hair while it’s dry to give it optimal texture. He has worked with Christina Milian and Sienna Miller and styles models’ hair for runway shows.
Chaz Dean
Chaz Dean is legendary for creating the Wen line of hair care products. He has helped deliver healthy hair to clients like Tori Spelling, Lisa Rinna, Alyssa Milano and Brooke Shields. Celebrity hair takes a lot of abuse, and it’s Dean’s mission to give women a straightforward hair care system that makes the most of their natural beauty.
Vidal Sassoon
Vidal Sassoon is something of a legend in the celebrity hair industry. He was born in 1928 and infused the modern woman’s haircut with effortlessness in the ‘60s. He cropped the pixie cut that Mia Farrow wore in Rosemary’s Baby. He ended up building an empire of beauty schools, salons and hair care products. Sassoon died of Leukemia in 2012.
You may not be a celebrity. However, you can copy many stars’ hairstyles just by visiting their stylists. Many own salons that are open to the public. You’ll definitely have to shell over more than what you pay at Supercuts, but many celebrity hair stylists offer reasonable options. Some work with a team that can mimic celebrity cuts and color. Don’t be afraid to have your 15 minutes of fame. Learn celebrity hairstyle secrets directly from the people who know the best.

McGregor In Reverse: Boxer Heather Hardy Ready for MMA Debut
Heather Hardy is synonymous with New York's boxing scene.
The 20-0 WBC international featherweight champion is from Brooklyn's Gerritsen Beach, she trains aspiring boxers at the legendary Gleason's Gym in DUMBO, and as a professional boxer, she's built a reputation for selling tickets at nearly all of the city's venues: Coney Island's Ford Amphitheater, B.B. King Blues Club in Times Square, the Roseland Ballroom, and the massive Barclays Center, just to name a few.
Until now, the only notable exception was arguably the world's most famous arena and boxing's Mecca: Madison Square Garden.
The good news is that Hardy will cross MSG off her "to-do" list on Saturday night. The catch is that at 35, the single mother and veteran pugilist will do so by making her mixed martial arts debut in a flyweight match against Alice Yauger (4-5) at Bellator 180.
In moving from boxing to MMA, Hardy didn't exactly become the Neil Armstrong of combat sport crossovers. Holly Holm was famously the first athlete to win titles in both sports. And at the opposite end of the spectrum, UFC superstar Conor McGregor is preparing to make his boxing debut on Aug. 26 against Floyd Mayweather, an undefeated legend and heavy, heavy favorite.
And like McGregor, who's under contract with the UFC and needed president Dana White's go-ahead before finalizing any deal with Mayweather, Hardy had her own red tape and needed approval from notorious boxing promoter Lou DiBella.
DiBella was reluctant at first, but politics helped to force his hand.
When New York became the last state to legalize professional MMA in 2016, the new law came with a major caveat: For every athlete competing in a combat sport, promoters were required to provide $1 million of insurance covering any potential life-threatening brain injury. (In 2013, Russian boxer Magomed Abdusalamov suffered a significant brain injury during a fight at MSG, and his subsequent lawsuit is believed by many to be the impetus for the steep insurance requirement in New York's MMA Law).
Not only did the new law effectively make boxing cost prohibitive at the club level, but such an insurance policy did not exist for boxing. That put New York's boxing industry on hiatus for four-and-a-half months before the proper policies were approved.
Without her usual boxing purses, Hardy signed with Invicta FC and planned on making her MMA debut in January before her opponent pulled out because of injury.
Since then, Hardy won a pair of boxing matches against Edina Kiss, including one at LIU's Paramount Theater, which was the first club-level fight card since last September. Following that unanimous decision, Hardy announced that she would fight Yauger at Bellator 180 with the blessing of DiBella and help from her new trainer, jiu-jitsu black belt and MMA fighter Daniel Gracie.
The following is an interview with Hardy in which she discusses boxing, MMA, the business of both sports, and Conor McGregor's (non-existent) chances against Floyd Mayweather.
Fightland: How did you first get the idea to try MMA in your 30s? Heather Hardy: Last year [June 25, 2016], I was 15-0 and I was boxing on the undercard of [Keith Thurman-Shawn Porter's fight on CBS]. I was boxing the girl that was ranked No. 2 [Kirstie Simmons]. I had the perfect argument to be put on TV. I lobbied and lobbied and did all the things. At the time, I was being sponsored by Dove, I was in the commercial campaign; so much stuff was happening; 15-0. And they wouldn't do it. I was passed over by a guy who was like 2-0. And I just felt so defeated. I was doing all the things I was supposed to do and it still wasn't enough. So I thought I needed a backup plan. That summer I started wrestling. Soon after I started wrestling and posting on my social media, [Premiere Boxing Champions] did my fight [against Shelly Vincent] on NBC Sports.
So boxing was starting to take a good turn, but at the same time, I was already doing the jiu-jitsu and thinking, 'man, I'm OK at this.' And then we had the insurance issues in New York, where there were no boxing for six months, so it was the perfect time to get Lou [DiBella] to say that I can do a fight. Then that Invicta fight fell through and I was so disappointed. The girl pulled out the day before the way in. It sucked.
DiBella didn't have to say 'yes' to you? Yeah, I'm really grateful for that. I had to kind of go up to him like when you're asking your dad for money when you know he has none. I was like, 'Please, please,' and I know he's not a big fan of MMA. And why in the world would he want to let me go into another combat sport, where I could potentially get injured? So it was a big thing for him to allow me to do this.
So you went from wrestling to jiu-jitsu. I started American wrestling. I had kick boxed before I boxed, so I'm kinda familiar with kickboxing. And getting back into that hasn't been so difficult. I transitioned from wrestling into jiu-jitsu, and now training I'm with Daniel Gracie.
What's the biggest challenge of this transition? They can pick me up and throw me on the floor. That's really not OK with boxing (laughs).
The biggest challenge is that the tricks you can use in boxing don't work in MMA because people can pick you up and throw you on the floor. You could do a little shoulder bump or lean on your opponent if you're tired or tuck a little on the inside to bully them.
Too many punches at once and you wind up on your back.
In MMA, you're not doing such complicated combinations, right? My MMA coaches are telling me that, "Don't think more than two punches at a time," and if you stand still, someone is gonna look to tie you up.
In boxing, if someone ties you up, the ref breaks it up. In MMA, so much can happen: elbows can get thrown, knee kicks can get thrown. It's dangerous when you get close. They tell you, "Strike and get out; strike and get out."
Is your MMA strategy similar to your boxing strategy? I wish I could say that it is, but my boxing style is being more of a volume puncher. I'm an aggressive puncher. The challenge for me has been to try and add movement to stick and move instead of just stick and stick and stick.
Without any corners in the Octagon, does your footwork have to change? There's no corners, but there's also no gives. With the ropes [in boxing] you can push back on the ropes, you can get a couple of extra inches to move out of the way of a punch. You can work off the ropes.
The cage hurts. You don't want your back on the cage ever. And so many different things, like takedowns in jiu-jitsu and strikes can happen up against that cage. It's not where you wanna be.
But an official MMA cage is almost twice the size of a boxing ring, so I almost feel like I'm fighting someone in my back yard.
With that much space, is it easier to evade an opponent? No, because in boxing, when you get away, you only have to get away from two hands. In this, you're getting away from throws, kicks, knees, elbows, fists. Getting away really entails a lot.
Some see boxing as being more of a skill and MMA being more like a street fight. Is that what you've found? There are very few things you can't do in MMA. You can't poke someone in the eye; you can't bite anybody. It's not a vicious street fight. What I've been telling people for years—and as a boxing fan, you know—you tell people that boxing is a skilled sport. When you watch two people box, it can be like watching two people dance when they're doing it right. It's a beautiful art.
The same can be said for jiu-jitsu, for wrestling, and for all those things that the common, untrained eye may see as just people rolling around on the floor trying to maul each other. Actual beautiful transitions are happening if you know what to look for.
Is it like a street fight? Much more like a street fight than boxing. You can crack your elbow on someone's face after you knock them on the floor. But there's certainly skill involved.
Was jiu-jitsu a good way to transition into MMA? I think that it's important to know what I'm allowed to do, but what my opponent is capable of doing. So I felt like I needed try all of the martial arts just to see what's out there. My coaches might say, "We're gonna work on this drill; you'll never do this in a fight and I never want to see you do this in a fight." But I need to be aware of what can be done to me.
How does the length of the fight compare? Three five-minute rounds.
Does it feel shorter? Longer? Usually I do 10 rounds, but I'd do 10 two-minute rounds. This is a tremendous difference.
Is this more like a marathon? It's like sprinting a marathon is more like it.
How have you responded physically? Getting the grappling stamina that's required and the muscles used has been challenging. But I've been sparring five-minute rounds. We did all the work to prepare.
Did anyone warn you against doing MMA? Well, we had a little of that from Lou in the beginning. Outside of him being a scared dad, no. My team and I are always on the same page. Some of my boxing coaches, some of the old-school guys at Gleason's [Gym in Brooklyn] were like, "What are you doing? What's wrong with you?"
You've said you're not leaving boxing. If you immediately have MMA success, would you turn your attention to that? I don't know that I won't turn my attention to it anyway. I plan on having a lot of success in this field. I'm hooked now. I had my training camp, and about halfway through training camp, something clicked. The green light went on and I was like, "Oh my God, I love this now." I'm really enjoying this.
What clicked? One day I was training and I was trying so hard to do something with the jiu-jitsu and one of my coaches said, "Stop thinking so much; just do what you would naturally do." All of the sudden, everything got easier.
It was just a common takedown defense drill. Someone slams you up against the cage: how do you stay on your feet? I was trying to do all the technical steps: You hit your overhook or your underhook; your hips have to turn; drop your waste.
I'd be like, "Oh, I forgot to do this! Oh, I forgot to do this!"
The coach was just like, "Stop it. Don't let her get you on the floor. How about we think about that instead of the ten things you're supposed to do?"
Once I started thinking like that, it was like, "Oh duh, it's like a fight." It's not a recipe. I'm not baking a cake.
You have to defend more of your body now besides your head and torso. Is that a problem? There are two ways to think about it: More body to defend, or more opportunities to strike.
If you go into boxing and think, "She can do this; she can do that; this can happen to me," that changes your game. My focus is just to stay out of the way and do as much damage as I can when I'm in the zone.
Were you an MMA fan before this? No, but in all fairness, I wasn't a boxing fan either. I grew to appreciate it through doing the sport.
How are you finding the business side of this? It's just different. The business side of anything is just difficult. People keep asking me, "Are you so nervous; it's fight week?" And fight week is fight week. It's business week as a fighter. I gotta close out tickets; I gotta finish making my weight; I gotta see who didn't get T-shirts. I have so much stuff to do, and that doesn't change. This is the same kind of business.
If anything, Bellator is more corporate then boxing. Boxing isn't very corporate. So now I'm finding I'm dealing with lots of different departments to get stuff done and figuring out who to direct questions to. The fundamentals are the same.
Were it not for the insurance issue, would you have just stayed in boxing full time? No, my coach is a three-time world champion. The transition to MMA was always something that was hanging there. He always told me you have to get great at something first. We can't come out of the Golden Gloves and just go into MMA. You have to get great at your boxing.
Not to say that I'm great at boxing, but I'm certainly above skill level against most of the [MMA] competition in terms of boxing. I feel really comfortable making the transition now because of the level I go to in boxing.
Did you scout your opponent? I don't watch video. I leave that to the coaches and let them tell me how to train. You can get so preoccupied with what you see on tape. You don't know how someone is gonna react to you. So I don't like to overplan as much as just being prepared.
You're a boxing expert and you're becoming an MMA fighter: Does McGregor stand a chance against Mayweather? No way does McGregor beat Mayweather in a boxing ring. No way does Mayweather beat McGregor in a cage… Anyone on the planet who thinks that McGregor has a chance does not appreciate the science of boxing.
I don't know that [McGregor will] land one [punch]. I've done sparring sessions where no one hit me, and I'm nowhere near Floyd Mayweather.

2017 U.S. Open: Tee times and pairings for Rounds 1 and 2
Dustin Johnson is looking to repeat at the event that made him one of golf’s most important players.
The 2016 U.S. Open marked Dustin Johnson’s ascendance from rising prospect to bonafide star. Could the 2017 tournament be a similar career-building moment for one of the game’s budding athletes?
No major PGA event provides an opportunity as grand as the Open, which allows any professional, amateur, or USGA member to try their hand at qualifying for the 156-person field. This year, the list of regional qualifiers includes veteran Steve Stricker, who needed a 12-under showing to ensure Erin Hills would have a local Wisconsinite for its first-ever U.S. Open hosting gig.
Stricker and a handful of unknown hopefuls will join a loaded field that includes past champions like Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, and Martin Kaymer. Other World Golf Rankings top five players Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama, and Sergio Garcia will be there as well.
Johnson is the early favorite to repeat as champion, but 2017’s stacked field means there’s no runaway pick to hoist the Open Championship Cup trophy.
This year’s event takes place 40 minutes from Milwaukee on the relatively new Erin Hills golf course. The links have only been open since 2006, but this will be the third significant event to which it has played host. Erin Hills was the site of the 2008 Women’s Amateur Public Links tournament and the 2011 U.S. Amateur Championship.
With no paved cart parts and a “walking only” policy, Erin Hills is a throwback designed for a prestige event like the Open. At 7,800 yards from the tips, the course features four par 5s that clock in over 600 yards, including the gargantuan 18th hole, a 663-yard monster designed to press golfers to their limits at the end of an exhausting round.
But the course isn’t just long; it’s also narrow and unforgiving. Erin Hills occupies a swath of glacially-carved land, leading to rolling hills and an undulating playing surfaces that leaves challenges even after perfect tee shots. Though the course is uniquely American, you can see the Scottish links-style influence throughout its design, which features deep bunkers, limited tree growth, tall rough, and wide greens that offer little respite once you’re putting.
That’s the challenge the world’s best golfers — and a handful of hopeful qualifiers — will face when the first round tees off early Thursday morning. Several interesting pairings are sure to draw big crowds as Wisconsin holds its first Open. Bubba Watson, Adam Scott, and 2017 Masters champion Sergio Garcia will begin their rounds at 2:36 EST Thursday. Day, McIlroy, and Justin Rose, will get an early start at 9:24, Kaymer, Spieth, and Johnson hit the links 11 minutes later.
Here’s a full list of tee times and pairings as the tournament whittles its field down for the championship rounds this weekend. All listed times are Eastern.

@hauntedhclmes liked this post for a starter from Madison
Working in the real estate business (haunted or otherwise) means seeing and/or hearing a lot of addresses. Places going on the market, places going off the market. Places a client wants to see for a second, third, or even sixth time. (Those types of clients were the ones Madison hated the most). So when the call came in, Madison didn’t think anything of it. Yeah, the address sounded familiar but she just assumed it was because of...well, one of the above.
Why would she ever think otherwise?
And normally, she would have attempted to put off the meeting. Let them know her father was currently out at another “open house” but would call them back to set something up. After all, dealing with clients...buyers AND sellers was not her favorite part of this gig. But these people sounded so desperate that she...she caved. Told them she’d be out within the hour.
Which is how she came to be leaving her dad a message as she walked to the lot a few blocks over where her car was.
Hey. It’s me. Just wanted to let you know I’m headed out towards Vacherie to look at a place. Sellers seem SUPER DESPERATE so you know its gotta be bad. Don’t worry. Being careful. Love you. Oh! Wait! Have we ever done anything out here before? The address sounded familiar. Anyway. Will check in after. Bye.

Paranormal activity statistics
One in four Americans believes that they live in a haunted house. (House Beautiful)
44% of people suspected or knew that they were moving into a haunted house. (House Beautiful)
35% of people found erratic pet behavior to support the idea that their home was haunted. (House Beautiful)
34% of people say they would inform a buyer about paranormal activity before selling a property. (House Beautiful)
27% of people would only share information about paranormal activity in their home when asked by the buyer. (House Beautiful)
23% of people said they wouldn’t share any information about paranormal activity in their home with a potential buyer. (House Beautiful)
Although religious affiliation declined over the past 40 years, belief in the afterlife remained constant. In 1978, around 70% of people believed in the afterlife, and about 74% reported the same in 2018. (New York Times)
California real estate agent Randall Bell says that stigmatized property can sell for 10% to 25% less than a non-stigmatized one. (JSTOR Daily)
Those who attend worship services frequently are less likely to say they’ve seen a ghost. Just 11% of those who attend religious services weekly say they’ve witnessed a ghost. Meanwhile, 23% of people who attend services less frequently say they’ve witnessed a ghost. (Pew Research Center)

// Horrific thing about Maddy I just now realized. She is a vegetarian though she cannot remember why or when it started. In reality, it's because a pre school field trip to a farm took a horrendous turn when she pet a cow and learned how it would be killed and turned to meat. So yeah. She done.
