and now it's time for the art I did for the @spnangelsanddemons-rb (which is related to the @spnangelbang if anyone's curious which they're probably not but)
anyway. here's the banner I did for the fic on the left, and the original art thing I threw out there for the reverse bang that got it claimed. the original idea I had was based on Dean saying if he ever goes dark side, he wants Cas to 'take him out' and Cas being Cas completely misunderstands this and decides that means he should take Dean on a date (hence the flowers)
I tried to give Dean a demon-y sort of true form thing inspired by the dark smoke thing they do while adding stuff like the cracked soul to more subtly imply hey that's a demon. idk why everything is so glow-y either I just wanted to light up Cas' halo and angel eyes there and uh yeah now everything's glowing oops
by contrast this has no glowing though it does have a giant mirror because I love suffering. I actually did model this with weird cat erasers we have for some reason that naturally don't even erase anything and that's the only reason why the mirror isn't extremely wacky
the idea of having the mirror was to show the true forms of Dean and Cas as Dean becomes less and less of a demon as the story progresses and Cas sits there staring like normal even as his wings are totally visible which he doesn't even notice or worry about. I designed the little plates and food without realizing that none of them would appear at this angle and that's why everything's kinda pushed to the sides I was just happy they looked like food and couldn't make myself delete them dbjsudru
the only thing I didn't move was the vase of flowers that I had set up in the center of the table, which inspired me to make a little divider thing for the second time ever. along with the flowers, there's a fancy crane napkin thing and ofc a pie. never used this pen for anything big before really but I do like how these turned out so I might try it again sometime
the fic this is made for is called "Take Me Out" by @crematosis for the spn angels and demons reverse bang

this one's kind of long so i'm shoving it under a read more, forgive me
The pair climbed into the car, Maddie glancing over at Eddie, who hadn’t spoken since they said ‘good morning’ several hours ago. Every mile they drove closer to Buck, Eddie seemed to get worse, the circles under his eyes darkening, worry lines pressed into his face.
They were almost there now, the last leg, the last hour. The sun was slowly lowering, and it felt to Eddie as though it was pulling his heart down with it, drowning it in his stomach. The radio played softly in the background, a slow, sad song that was all too fitting, because of course it was.
‘If this were a movie,’ Eddie thought, ‘we would show up and Buck would rush into our arms, and everything would be perfect.’ And trailing behind that thought was the knowledge, deep in his very bones, that this was not a movie, and this would not be the perfect reunion he wanted, that Maddie and the others expected. The hours, the days, the months between the last time they spoke and seeing him on that TV screen proved that.
Their car pulled up in front of a small, single-story house, the 811 on the front matching the scribbled address on the scrap of paper sitting in the cup holder. The garden was filled with plants, and there was a small gate surrounding it. It looked as though it had been cut out of a magazine, or perhaps a Hallmark film. The sun sunk down, the tops of the trees around the house brushing at it.
“You should go. Without me.” Eddie suddenly blurted out.
Maddie looked at him, brow furrowed, eyes laced with concern.
“Eddie… what’s going on?” She turned the car off, the radio halting and plunging them into silence. “The past few days you’ve been… withdrawing. What are you worried about?”
“Nothing. Really, it’s just- you’re family. You deserve a moment just the two of you.”
Maddie turned fully in her seat, reaching across for Eddie’s hand. His hand was cold and slightly clammy in hers. She could feel his anxiety in his racing pulse, the way he wouldn’t meet her eyes.
“You’re family, too, Eddie. No matter what happens, you’re Buck’s family.” She reached, tilting his head to meet her gaze. “You’re my family.”

I will elaborate further later but idk I feel like once he gets over his initial nervousness around new people, Bubba would get along really well with the average big chaotic Chinese diaspora family
his own family is pretty chaotic as is, so he’d get it. if he shows up late with you and everyone else is late he’d be so relieved
he’d be unsure what to do with himself upon arriving so if the host asks you both to help set up the dinner table he’d get into a good familiar rhythm with it and get to meet your folks in a more gradual way while moving chairs
he’d like having a chance to show how strong he is, it’s one of the things he’s confident about. good thing too, since your popo will probably want him to come back and help with carrying bags of rice from the store
if he has time he’d probably be shadowing whoever’s cooking in the kitchen, hoping to pick up on how to make your favorite foods.
Only problem is you’d have to tell people in advance he can’t really talk but you could figure out some other ways to communicate. but he’d be grateful it means he doesn’t have to memorize all the ways to refer to relatives in Chinese, phew
it kinda balances things out since if there’s a language barrier of any kind you’d be an interpreter for both him and your family
food wise I think he’d start off with char siu pork and rice (very obvious favorites) but find that he enjoys tofu with pork and glass noodles.
also I think he’d like seeing how the old folks dress. nice pattern clothes, comfortable layers, lots of color. he could spend an afternoon flipping through Chinatown Pretty some time for outfit inspiration. if you got him a floral button up he’d want to wear it next time so he can match
