Warriors Orochi Headcanons and Stuff That Don't Make Sense to Me Now Ramble Bullshit Dump
things i wasn't able to put together coherently back when i played the games now strung together in a sleepy retrospect
For gods, everyone immortal/mythological/divine in WO is weirdly too weak AND FOR SOME REASON IT TAKES ANCIENT CHINESE/JAPANESE/OTHER WARRIORS TO MAKE A DENT IN THEIR PROBLEMS.
It really doesn't make sense for the Mystic Faction to seem so weak to the point they need humanity to fight for them. You're made up of Chinese and Japanese gods that have founded human civilization. With the Greek and Norse pantheons now becoming canon, they look even more weaker.
But even they seem weak with how Zeus gets betrayed by Ares, Ares fucks up things, Odin fucks up, Loki kills him, things get all fucked. Odin dies without much fanfare. But then again WO4 probably shouldn't be allowed to count, but I like the concepts it had however.
Sure, yeah, it's a game with the plot of "humanity is strong with its friendship and bonds", but I just think you shouldn't downplay the deities for their sake. But I'm basically asking for a WO game of only the original characters in there. Which I want. Please cut out the Warriors.
Ugggggh, though I headcanon that all the deities cannot use their full potential out of risking their already unstable realms. Which brings me to question: why is it unstable? Is it because of time fuckery they have to do to get their human fighters? Something something with Orochi I'm going to have to guess from what I remember of WO3 + Ultimate.
It would be interesting to explore how good and evil need each other to exist, maintaining ying and yang. Especially with the Asian pantheon characters with them covered in the symbols and all. Fine too deep for a Musou game.
I also want to know more??? about the WO deities and other original chars??? Why??? is there no ingame lore on them??? Besides the basic mythos, but WO could definitely give them little personalities and more bonds with each other. Why must it be about the humans? I mean, some interactions are interesting but man do I wish to know why does Taigong Wang look like a twink when he was a super old super smartass Chinese minister. Which brings me to:
Why do the deities even look like the way they are? Is this their weakened forms? Are they what they choose to look like? Well, I suppose all of them choose to look hot. Makes sense. I'd do too. It would be cool for them to have "true" forms. Or even partial transformations. Like an Arrancar from Bleach. Some part of them had to be sealed away so that they can keep the worlds stable.
Misc questions lightning round
For a human cast where 65% of the historical chars died of illness, they sure never asked the local GOD OF MEDICINE TO HELP THEM (Guo Huai??? Why aren't you cured when Shennong is right there??? Sure it might take time, but maybe if the WO power scaling weren't shit, he could just delete the illness)
Are??? Nuwa and Fuxi??? related in this world??? Or not??? I'm pretty sure whether or not if you confirmed them being siblings or not, it wouldn't matter because they are both gay (im kidding) (maybe not) (tbh all the deities ae a bit fruity)
Why does Kaguya know how to time travel? She's not a god of time. She's a moon princess from myth. I'd like to know the ingame lore about her power origins.
What is even the power scaling of WO? Fuxi is considered stronger than Nuwa, but then there's Susanoo and Yinglong who can compete with him. Where is Nuwa on this scale? She has to be at least his equal as, yk, his successor. Where would Shennong be on the scale too? Even if he's the medicine god, he has to be able to have equal power in his field if not for fighting. SHOULDN'T THEY BE WITHIN EACH OTHER'S LEVEL TO EVEN HAVE THEIR TITLES? Taigong??? Sun Wukong??? Daji??? What is their power????

Rant time!
This’ll be a long one, by the way.
One thing that does annoy me in both Awakening and Fates is characters that only have supports with one, usually the avatar, character.
Often because it doesn’t make any sense. And don’t get me started on how the adults and ‘kids’ can only support with those in their age group for the most part, excluding their parents and the avatar.
Like, in Awakening, all of the DLC characters only have supports with Robin. Anna has two but still counts, really.
When that doesn’t even make too much sense. I mean, it wouldn’t be too hard to think of who else they would get a support with.
Gangrel: Chrom, Aversa, Emmeryn, maybe Tharja Walhart: Say’ri, Yen’fay, Basilio and Flavia, and maybe Virion. Emmeryn: CHROM AND LISSA. The most fucking obvious thing do to. Also probably Lucina, Tiki, and Frederick. Yen’fay: Say’ri and Walhart. Maybe Lon’qu and Virion. Aversa: As mentioned, Gangrel, and probably Henry and Tharja. Maybe Chrom. Priam: ...Ok, this one is harder because the character doesn’t show up before the end game. But i can still think of some. Chrom, because both are descended from a legendary hero and have even inherited their blades. Vaike, thinking Priam would be a worthy opponent for him. Lon’qu, wanting to cross blades with him. Say’ri and Yen’fay, for the same reason as Lon’qu. Basilio and Flavia, both trying to recruit him as their champion. Maybe even someone like Miriel or Laurent, wanting to know more about the Radiant Hero. Anna: Gaius, because Anna can procure tough to get ingredients for his sweets. Libra, trying to warn her from her greed for gold. Olivia, thinking she can make a mint from charging people to see performances by her. Maybe even Panne and Yarne, trying to get secret taguel recipes that she can mass produce and sell.
See? It really is not that hard!
Even with Fates, let’s see if I can remember the characters who just have a support with the avatar... Or just a few supports.
I won’t be including the amiibo characters, by the way. While it would be nice to have supports with them, I would also be really annoyed because I hate when a game locks content like that behind amiibo and doesn’t even give like a DLC option to get the content instead.
Shura: Uh. Kaze, Saizo and Kagero would be good options. Ryoma could also work. On of the other side of the conflict, Niles would work. I’m also kinda leaning towrds Benny and Arthur for him, and maybe Elise. Reina: Uh, she works for the palace of Hoshido. Ryoma, Hinoka, Takumi... maybe not Sakura because of her taste for violence. Saizo, Kagero, Setsuna, Azama, Orochi, Hana, Subaki... there is a long fucking list of people she could have supported with. So why was it only Corrin? Who the fuck knows. I could also see her having a support with Gunter. Scarlet: Another wasted oppurtunity. Ryoma of course is an obvious one. Saizo and Kagero too, being Ryoma’s retainers. She could even have ‘frenemy’ supports with the Nohr royalty, her seeing them as part of the problem at first but gradually coming to see that they’re not like Garon. Gunter: Xander is a pretty obvious one. Flora is another. It is a bit harder for Gunter since he primarily just shows up as this game’s ‘Jagen’ character, but I still think there would be plenty who have heard stories about him and either want training or to test their mettle against him. Flora: Uh, Jabob? That’s a pretty obvious one. Nohr royalty who want to check up on how Corrin is doing. Yukimura: See Reina’s thing about working in the palace of Hoshido? That pretty much applies for Yukimura too. Izana: Royals of both countries, and possibly some of their retainers too. Fuga: He would be another good one to have a support with Gunter. Maybe also Hinata, and basically anyone who wants to become a good, strong warrior, like Rinkah. Anna: Kaden and Keaton, trying to find out secret recipes of their races to sell, Beruka, Charlotte and Izana.
See, it’s really not that hard to think of at least a few more characters to expand on these supports. And it is really annoying when they’re just given one support with the avatar and then maybe one other, they could have really fleshed out these characters. The problem was definitely worse in Fates, a lot of the characters I mentioned do not have much depth and that definitely could have been changed with some more supports. Hell, I had to look at a character list for Fates because characters like Yukimura and Shura are pretty forgettable.
I could go on and add some of the capturable enemies in Fates (Candace needs more attention because she’s actually pretty hot) but nyeh.

Not All Powerful Female Characters are Warriors: Okami
Okami is a video game that I was exposed to back in college. (My friends were computer game majors.) And I was introduced to it by my roommate who had been following the development of the game for a long time. She adored the game since it featured a wolf as the lead. (For once, a reason for the silent lead to actually be silent! Woof!) We were both lovers of all things Japan and the game's art style was in Japanese ink painting. Which, if you know anything about gaming, 3D realistic was the way to go even back then. Clover studios tried it and didn't like the results. (To put this friend into perspective, she also loved SMT: Digital Devil Saga, the RPG where you play part demons that can eat enemies. Yes. EAT. But that was also based on Bhuddism and Hindu Mythology sooo..)
Okami was about Okami Amaterasu and her fight against the minions of Yame in order to cleanse and defend Nippon. The story line too many of the stories and legends of ancient Nippon (and before) and wove them into a cohesive story about Amaterasu and the people she was helping. The goal of the story was to earn praise of the locals by helping them, cleanse the land of cursed zone and solve logic puzzles, oh and fight monsters. Lots, and lots, and lots of monsters. As Amaterasu progressed through the game and overcame challenges or inspired the people of Nippon, she would regain her 13 powers of the brush.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evRYEFzAY8w
With the brush, you could 'draw' on the screen using your controller to do magic spells. These magic spells ranged from restoring/mending objects, growing plants, moving water/fire/lightning/ice, walking on walls and slowing down time. This was a really innovative style of game play at that time and inspired other games.
I always felt that Okami was a game that not only would appeal to boys (most game studio's target demo) because of the fights and the bosses, and also to girls because of well, the pretty graphics, the style of game play (at least the first half of it) and the multiple female characters. Though it's not for children. (Sake, bouncing boobs, and so on and so forth.)
Amaterasu, the silent wolf lead, is well, a female, based on the Japanese Goddess of the Sun, Amaterasu with her divine mirror and beads. (The third divine weapon was the sword, which also had significance to Amaterasu in Japanese Mythology.) There were also several major female characters throughout the game that were important, even if they weren't all warriors. Female characters don't have to be warriors to be strong characters and strong women.
Kushi's bravery to face Orochi and her sake brewing helped Amaterasu and Susano (a male warrior) defeat the 8 headed dragon. Himiko and Otohime were two Queens whose bravery, abilities and willingness to sacrifice themselves for a cause they believed in, helped find Oni Island and allowed Amaterasu to actually get there. (Otohime did this while pregnant too. Multiple props to her badassery.) There was a female villainess and despite the fact the game has been out for 10 years or so now, I don't want to spoil it for you! Just to say, that she is there and man does the game keep you guessing. Then Kai and Lika in the last arc are important in helping Amaterasu navigate the forest of confusion and keeping Nippon from turning into a frozen wasteland. Plus, there were other female characters that Amaterasu helped too, Princess Fuse, Moon Maiden Kaguya, the Sasa Sanctuary daughter and so on and so forth.
Yes, they were all supporting players. Without their help, and prayers, and belief, Amaterasu wouldn't have been able to succeed in her quest.
The end of the game in the fight against Yame (who was a big ball, sigh, what is it with the Japanese...) there was a large emotional pay out because of the structure of the game and all the work and help Amaterasu had provided to the people. (In order to level Ammy up, you had to get praise to increase health, ink pots for magic, lives and increase the money pouch.)
I was really sad and upset when Capcom closed Clover Studios in favor of making another Resident Evil rather than Okami 2 that they'd clearly set up in the end of the first game! Because, I wanted more cleansing, helping people and earning praise shenanigans.
That's the upside of Okami.
But there is a downside to the game. It's long. I mean, it's long. Don't start unless you've got 40 to 60 hours to put into it. There are a lot of side quests and a whole bunch of collectibles to find. And yeah, you need a lot of money in order to get some of the higher level magic spells and divine instruments and fighting techniques, so you will be doing a large amount of fishing and minion fighting.
And because it's long and because they spaced out getting the brush techniques. It's A) easy to forget the earlier techniques and when you need to use them. And B) the later techniques and even some of the middle techniques aren't explored to their full potential. Ice in particular and even Wind falls into this category.
The second half of the game also becomes less about restoring the land and more about dungeons and monster fighting which makes it less innovative and more like every other platformer game out there ever. In fact, the last third of the game, the Northern arc after Ninetails and before going into the Ark of Yamato, is mostly exposition. I mean lots of boring, repetitive, exposition, where they tell you the same things at least three times. The first 2/3 of the game, they spend that time having you "relive" the story and hand holding your way on what to do next in Sei-an City. (Kusa Village is also unmemorable despite being between Kamiki and Sei-an.) The last 1/3 of the game, forget hand holding (trying to figure out what to do next can be a bit of a chore and it's a bit jarring) and the tale of the Ark of Yamato gets told, over, and over, and over. ENOUGH ALREADY. I GET IT.
I mean, sure the stump city of the Poncles was great and going back in time was sort of fun? (Except this means you defeat Orochi 3 times in the game. And let me tell you, he's not that interesting of a boss.)
Thus, I tend to forget the second half of the game. It's annoying. It's boring. I dislike dungeons and racing clocks. I spend too much time facing bosses that I've already defeated. Can I please go back to clearing cursed zones and making cherry trees BLOOM?
Despite this, I do love the game. I think it had a lot of potential and really did break some boundaries of the way games were made and stories were told. It was also beautiful. Don't let the video fool you. The PS2 version wasn't that fuzzy. If it had been that fuzzy, it would have been unplayable.
They did make a digital HD download of Okami for PS3, which is too bad because I prefer hard copies of my games. (Just a quirk.) Otherwise, in order to play it again, I will have to open and set up my PS2. Fortunately, the let's play on Youtube reminded me why I won't be bothering anytime soon. (Even if I did yell at the screen a lot at the player.)
If you have the time for it, love Japanese legends and lore and enjoy platformers. I do recommend Okami.

For people who are trying to get to the end of fuseman's stage while avoiding the electrodes, the bounce balls can get rid of some of them. I know it really cripples the midboss. Also any advice on the impact brothers challenge? Man that one's annoying even with the coolant part
Yeah, I was kinda surprised to learn that about the electrodes.  As for the Impact Brothers challenge, I admittedly haven’t tried for it yet.  I’ve been busy mostly with Warriors Orochi 4 as far as gaming during my dental work stuff.

Ok, but I'm sincerely curious about this. I don't remember if I asked this, but how Seimei honestly feels about Tamamo? From our interactions and Seimei's mentions, I'm getting more and more curious because Seimei is such a complicated but a wonderful character. And Tamamo really doesn't understand him, and that's why she's annoyed with him regularly. And I'm just... Holy shit. Go wild on this if u want! I love reading your metas. :"D
@solisnumen (why must you hurt me so but here I go)
How Abe no Seimei feels about Tamamo no Mae honestly, in my opinion, is a bitter feeling. He doesn’t regret it as the past already happened and they can do nothing but move on with their lives. However deep down in his heart, there’s this slight bittersweet feeling that’s hard to describe since Tamamo didn’t really do anything to Toba. So when he called her a fox it was just a pure and honest mistake that he can’t fix. In Japanese folklore revolving around magic, words and names hold a lot of power in the past and considering how Tamamo was working in the Imperial Court, to find out that she was a youkai was already a crime since the Imperial Court of Kyoto is really against ayakashi.
(also have a read more because I have no self control)
We don’t know how Toba feels about this topic and quite frankly, in my personal opinion, it was nobody’s fault. It was just bad timing and the location they were at. Humans in the Imperial Court are very ruthless and will do anything to protect themselves, so once they discovered that Tamamo was a fox, they shut their ears and close their eyes and declared her as the enemy of the court because the onmyoji called her a fox.
Seimei can’t fix the past and he doesn’t want to since he’s the type that doesn’t linger to such things. He’s a fortune teller, his job is to guide the present to a rightful future or downfall depending on his mood. So when he sees Tamamo feeling remorseful in the past, he simply doesn’t understand why. It confuses him and he wants to understand why a powerful fox such as herself would care for her trivial past when she has the future ahead of her, but naturally he’ll never show that side to Tamamo as he doesn’t understand that side himself.
Seimei’s own feelings is something he can’t understand and it’s part of his human side that he doesn’t understand. After all, his own humanity is more or less lost and untouched. He still has some part of it since he’s still human so when it resurface he’s just like, “...eh?”. He embraced the dark side of his youkai lineage and is more carefree than anybody. He’s a fox after all, he enjoys messing with people.
so tldr: Seimei likes Tamamo no Mae, A LOT. Why? She’s a fox. He loves foxes. He’s extremely bias towards them. He views her as his own family member and treats her as such, which involves a lot of bullying and teasing. Since she’s in a slump about her love life and past, there is only one thing he can do and that is toughen her up since he knows that the longer she stays like that, the faster she’ll self-destruct on herself. He wants her to let go to the past and embraced herself. Who cares if she was evil? Seimei wouldn’t find her interesting if she wasn’t. Seimei himself isn’t a good person either despite his ‘heroic’ deeds. He simply chose to side with humans in honor of his /mother’s/ wishes.
Tumblr media
Their past is something that’s very regretful and can’t be changed. It was a honest mistake on Seimei’s part and honestly humans are always looking for an excuse. It’s human nature, I believe that Tamamo knows this as well since she decided to observed them. I don’t believe that Seimei will bring up the incident with Toba anytime soon since they both know, even without Seimei being there, Tamamo would have been found out and driven out of the court regardless.
Also when I was researching Seimei out, I know that there’s a lot of Fate Theory making revolving around Seimei so I look around to help inspire how I want to portray Seimei and I saw this one reddit post where Seimei mistakes Tamamo for his mother and my first instinct was, “NO, STOP.” So I love Koei Games and Warrior Orochi has Seimei and Tamamo interacting, THERE’S ALSO DAJI.
Daji: “Hey, Seimei. Tell me - is it true your mother was a fox?"Seimei: "Some say that she was. To me, she was my mother - nothing more, nothing less."Daji: "Oh, you're such a good boy. I bet she'd be proud of you. But I want to see your dark side..."
Seimei: "I do not consider your presence to be one of evil. I believe we can find a way to coexist in this realm."Tamamo: "Hmph! You say those words with the same mouth that invoked the spell to lock me away!"Seimei: "Indeed, it is my duty to protect the innocent from harm. We all have our roles that we must play."
These quotes really help me push how I want Seimei’s relationship with Tamamo being because I’m just like, “Yes, Seimei loves his mother BUT HE WONT’ MISTAKE HER FOR ANYBODY ELSE, LET ALONE TAMAMO”
But yeah....here we got Renata, I think this covers my own thoughts and mostly Seimei’s thoughts about Tamamo. Enjoy?

Review: WARRIORS OROCHI 4 ULTIMATE Has Pretty Swords And Bland Targets
Tumblr media
I’ll start this by being totally honest, Warriors Orochi Ultimate 4 is my first real play through of a Warriors Orochi game or even any hack and slash, musou style game. When I first popped it in, it felt like a boring and pointless button mashing game that let players feel all cool and powerful while slaughtering thousands of enemies with ease. However, as I played, I found myself wanting to play more and more to get better at combos, unlock more characters and level up my gang. This game may still be ultimately as shallow as your neighborhood pond, but it doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time skipping rocks and dipping your feet in the water.
The Story, Challenge and Battle Modes are available at the beginning, but without a wide selection of characters and the ones you have sitting at the most basic levels and abilities, Story Mode is really the only thing to do. I couldn’t find the story to be anything more than filler and bare-bone reasons to play against massive armies in obscure and generic places. This being said, the story has a lot more voice acting and actual conversation than I expected, even though it isn’t great. The story mode really is just a way to get levels, weapons, characters and play against increasingly difficult enemies that require increasingly more powerful characters. This loop is surprisingly entertaining, especially after a player finds a couple of officers that they particularly enjoy.
With 170 characters/officers to play, the variety of battle styles are welcome, but at some times frustrating. Some characters have great rushing attacks, area attacks or powerful magical abilities. But other characters reach is barely farther than right in front of them and their combos don’t allow them to move, making that character feel absolutely pointless or annoying to play. Not every character can be amazing and I understand people have their own personal play styles, but I feel like a number of characters were just poorly designed. Moving past this complaint, the light, heavy, special and magical attacks do allow for a fun, variety set of moves. They get stale and very repetitive after a few minutes, but it could’ve been worse, and at least every character does have a pretty unique special attack with a few unique light or heavy attacks. I think a more smooth approach to combat and movement with more unique combos (maybe fewer characters as a sacrifice) would have been well worth it.
As for the rest of the game modes, they’re interesting but almost indistinguishable from the story mode. All that is different are some time limits, slightly different objectives, less talking and other (but similar) rewards. It would be great to have other modes with a much greater variety, like a random hero mode, giant or tiny enemies or mode arcade like modes. This isn’t a very serious game and I think it would benefit from a deeper dive into the ridiculous.
Tumblr media
Another thing to point out about the game is that everything that isn’t an officer is terribly generic. The armies of enemies and allies are literally identical at times, thousands of them running at you and they are all EXACTLY THE SAME. The areas you run through are terribly bland and just generic geometry to hold enemies. With so many characters and ways to kill, it is too bad you feel like you're playing against training dummies in a wasteland of boring, average historical arenas.
I was happier with the combat than I expected and I was surprised with the uniqueness of the character’s fighting styles, even if the differences were small or just plain bad. This game has multiplayer, a few interesting challenges, leveling and weapons forging/upgrading, but they all feel like tacked-on pieces to make the game seem more fleshed out than it really is. But looking at the game as a whole, it is clearly made for those who enjoy these types of games and I am sure they will really get a lot of fun and quality hours out of this game, it does its job well. But any newcomers to the genre will have a hard time finding much here other than a few hours of fairly generic button mashing.

the secret of the world
A commission for Pedro, who speaks French in a sea of bad-fic loving English speakers.
A carefully hand crafted summary of The Secret World, translated into Japanese, then into Italian, then back into English. Enjoy.
The French Version is here.
Ok, so how is the secret of the world, for these pesky monsters a group of dumbasses you're trying to hit them with a stick to finish a world or maybe something and the center of the earth in an avalanche of dirt? So, it is some random person just swallowed a bee during sleep with so you can go to sleep in the dirt monster fist fucking, you get super powers. You perverted capitalism, participated in the stoners exaggerated or imperialism of self-righteousness, they are forced to say what they want, maybe you will pay as you have 3 whole dollar.
Not paid, your first job as an intern willing bee-based, is to go to the crappy town of New England is infested with zombies and zombie fish. The game is to roll long enough, so as not to be able to stop a name to drop in order to make sense of the old war between Wabanaki and Maya and the Viking I helped the Excalibur. Thus, the fish of zombies, dreamer when the drowning and the sword came to town again, citizens are trying to turn zombies Viking fish more fish, then, it is called into the sea, and died, after you have become a zombie, the total deaths impregnated and the zombie Viking has made them for the zombie fish. In addition, Loki, who end the world, anything so do not try sleeping there to stab the Rubik's cube in which what Gaia to keep the dream, but because it has a punch, he is total old girlfriend and stupid steals Excalibur, everyone does not see her boo HOO. OH the dreamer and I want to be to ensure that is located under the mountain, and the people is a mine has not, but I was still then someone was shot, then, the miners have been killed, it is a cluster full was still fucked. You have a story to the bird a pile of rocks, not only you can save the island, all of which is to die anyway very worried about going to go to Egypt.
So why are in fact, the Egyptian cult worship except perhaps the date of darkness at the center of the Earth was a bit 'named the wrong side of you there is the cult that is the sun. All the followers of the cult that's kind of do not have super-sorry for killing people, he wants to do it again, there is also a purple man to send the devil goo box in Tokyo, is a man of this sexy plums. Thus, in collaboration with plums and handsome dance, to kick off the train a man, what a save and London.
In addition, since the neat about this is, there are archaeologists of some of the gay.
So you killed her children and go near the cliff hell of the desert and turned them into immortal statues in order to keep the Black Pharaoh forever asleep, stole the Orochi shit from them and I now worship there are some old white man who could actually get their devil of a friend back. So, to help children around the large statue, then, the mummy was a punch to the penis, you must save a good job in Egypt.
The following must go to save the Transylvanian vampire. Dracula's wife Mara, there's a super-boring Cuckold conspiracy to fall for some of the whiny emo bitch named Callisto. Mara of the back that has an army of vampires attacking a small village of magical creatures secretly. You and I egg him if I scream to bet a point behind Dracula in order to battle with his ex-wife, it is that here, you have no meaning in this context.
In addition, there is a dirty ancient Romans and human wolves are fighting in both the vampire. In order to have the full report and its triangular shape and the castle suffering, its confirmation, there is a cost in the search for the most despised stealth mission throughout the game please enjoy your trip in Transylvania lesbian.
Orochi is also there, they kidnapped the girl, was in abundance death. Orochi died in interesting things, like gremlin forest, wolf fur, are as good as accurate idea, we used the girl is to drill a hole in the dirt of the pocket that seems. And, even die dirt. You really just it, because I think working on something that role, and the war of vampires, even a vampire, you have to cover a great deal of non-war.
In any case, this is not a new game, and I'm going to soon discover that behind Lilith of all, performs a push-up some nasty hip, then cut into our feet you. And you, everyone will go to Venice to study the bureaucratic hell of hate called the Venice of the parliament. Shocking, it is swollen and diplomat is incredibly damaged, have their dirty for a series of events related to waste and other secrets factions around the world are not supposed to be the story of two E 'was there was a little finger. But, also, gave a simulation in the cold computer to play the stall, I mean, leave in the form ready for release in Tokyo.
When you finally go to Tokyo, the location is sexy plums were destroyed in the dirt bomb that contributed sent to the subway. You can pull your sprint hidden or rhythm percent of all those who, on behalf of the ultra-annoying monster. As a teenager pushed the morning light boy was perverted in the dirt, even bombs, actually the snake to begin tearing a hole, he is like something human dreamer? Lilith, the reality of destroying the world and ripping a hole, since it can kill God, you are trying to restore the old. Dragon Stoner loser, but to get the leader of the hot new faction and one of the other, for you, because he who asked the cause of that bank robbery eccentric supermarket, this time, man. Really Kirsten Gary, there is probably the hell you want to fuck a woman Sonnac warriors and hook-up to a point.
Mr. Orochi is dissolved stuffed toy robots in human organs now, hang religious groups of the new era, they started to commit suicide pact for the children, 30-story tower is full of their different taste in their sexual relationship secret factory in the basement it is full is a monster in the dirt invasion and employees, are on the other hand, you have the same crappy life expectancy've done in the world.
If you climb the tower, a predominantly Lilith complained of a dirt around for shoes, we fight. Then, kill the angels. You get the wing.
    The end.

For Honor
Tumblr media
Now before we begin I will need to clarify something; I did not own this game long. I no longer have For Honor, and I have my reasons; though with that said I would say that I’m not the most qualified for this review. You can read the review and choose how you feel about the game, you can stop here and never read this again, you can do an endless combination of things with my review; however, this is what the game left me feeling. I contemplated a lot on this game and thought for a while on how I should do this; this is why the review will be released so late at night and I’m sorry about that. Allow me to start this and I’ll show you all why I’m not the best qualified.
For Honor is a new IP from developer Ubisoft, the makers of Assassin’s creed and the Tom Clancy games. For Honor is a multiplayer oriented action arena game where players go head to head with one another to win battles for their faction. From it’s reveal the game has been both well received and highly anticipated; though the game finally came out and the anticipation has come to it’s end. I was one of many who really liked what I saw when Ubisoft first presented the game; as time went on and I heard more about the game and saw people online playing the game, I to really wanted this game in front of me as soon as possible. However, the fun I had with the game was severely overshadowed by my anger; it was a short run, but I ended up selling the game due to what I played.I didn’t have the patience or the will to wait for a patch to hopefully make the game more bearable. Due to this I never played the story mode of For Honor; instead just recently I watched the story mode on my computer. I felt I should at least see it, but given that that is the case I will talk about the story, but it won’t weigh to much on my grade on the game.My experience, and this review, will mostly be on the gameplay and characters of the game; the character segment will be divided into two segments, one for story development and the other for how characters played in game. For now though, as always we start with the story.
Our story starts in the land of Ashfield; long has the land been in peace after an order of knights won and ended a war between three factions of warriors. These factions are the Vikings, the Samurai, and the Knights themselves; One such knight and her legion of warriors does not abide by this new age. Apollyon, leader of the Blackstone Legion, plans to bring about a new age of war; she wishes, as she puts it, to separate the sheep from the wolves. Basically she wants to kill off the weak remains that call themselves warriors and bring about the true soldiers. Play through three chapters, one for each faction, as they are influenced by Apollyon’s will, and try to put a stop to her evil schemes to end this peace.
I found the story for For Honor to be incredibly boring; I feel part of this reason is due to the fact that it was basically me watching cutscenes for a good hour and a half rather than actually playing, but at the same time there were plot holes, misuse of terms, and an all around unoriginal overused story all together. For me my favorite story was the Knights, their story was coherent, and the characters were either enjoyable or bearable; except for Apollyon of course. I hate Apollyon, and not in a good way; Ubisoft made her so boring and aggravating to deal with, Her character is extremely stale; most of the time she talks in a cryptic way and never stops saying something that involves Wolves. Not to mention terrible cliche lines like “War, I am War”. Though again it wasn’t all bad; I love the main character of the knights, the warden’s character is really well done, but this isn’t the character section so we’ll get back to that.
Next came the Vikings; I hate the Vikings story for many reasons. If the story was a different faction all together then it would be a great story, but it had to be the vikings. History lesson time; the vikings have always been depicted as a very barbaric group of people. They would raid from others, stealing their treasures and killing whoever was in their path. So the whole idea of them just sitting ideally by in a time of peace is the dumbest idea I’ve heard of in a while; now don’t get me wrong, I know it’s been done before. A manga by the name of Vinland Saga has something like this; it’s not uncalled for, not every viking will be a killer. Yet you expect me to believe that after a loss to the Knights every viking will just up and say “yep let’s call it quits; no more raids, we don’t need to fight”. The whole idea of a viking is glory in battle so that you may one day rise to Valhalla. One other thing that bothered me is the use of tools that these factions would never of had access to; in the viking story they have propelled grappling hooks. You can find collectables in the story that explains that the vikings made advances in technology; stuff like siege weapons, flares, and grappling hooks. This just seems like a poor excuse to add something in the game, but it’s not even in the game. I wouldn’t have a problem if the flares or grappling hooks could be used in multiplayer and this was a means to add new elements, but instead you don’t get these items to use. They’re just in the story for who knows what reason; the flare wasn’t even a thing until the 1800â€Čs. The Vikings and the Knights would have never used them; only the samurai had access to flares. There should have been no problem making this game fit together with the three factions; you can tell me it’s a what if story, but all three factions overlapped at some point in actual history at one point. Then you can argue that this isn’t earth, but a what if land; however, this is proven to be earth when the Valkyrie of the Vikings says “I don’t speak Japanese” after killing a samurai and conversing with a comrade. This means Japan is a thing, and the earth along with it; you can’t tell me this is some alternate land with a random place that just so happens to be Japan.
Lastly came the Samurai; They were my least favorite of the three; their story is extremely bland and their characters along with it. This story has poorly delivered acting and/or bad text to voice work, misuse of terms, and some plot holes as well. The most believable thing about the samurai is that they would more than likely grow weak after this age of peace; the samurai have usually been depicted as looking for peace. Take the legend known as Tokugawa Ieyasu; Ieyasu was the man who led japan into the Edo period and an age of peace. Peace is not a small subject of the Japanese people; however, this is honestly the only thing that I was fine with. Basically their story was let’s pull ourselves back together and kill Apollyon; that’s it, nothing amused me or kept my invested. I was ready to just stop right there, I saw my fill, but I have to be fair. Usually each story you will either play or see the four characters from the faction that are playable in multiplayer; for samurai that is no different though you’ll mostly play as the Orochi who is pictured above. Now this story was the biggest problem with misused terms; hell the faction itself has a record of it. In the story they really like to use the term Daimyo; Daimyo is the term used for great lords who were vassals to the Shogun in Feudal Japan. At the beginning of the story this term is used by Ubisoft to describe Soldiers rather than lords; the first person to say “my Daimyo” is the main character Orochi. This would insinuate that he is the Shogun, but that’s false; near the end of the story the term starts to sound more like it’s intended meaning, but hearing it over and over gets really annoying. The characters themselves are also misused terms, or at least one of them is. Kensei, Shugoki, and Nobushi are all names given to warriors; for example Shugoki is a combination of the words Guard and Demon or Ogre. However, Orochi is not a name given to a soldier; Orochi, basically speaking, translates to big snake. Orochi is usually associated with the famous Japanese demon Yamata-no-orochi, who happens to be a huge snake demon. Plus this isn’t the first time media of some sort has given a human the name Orochi. The King of Fighters series has a famous final boss by this name; however, this is because the Orochi of KOF is literally Yamata-no-Orochi. Why is a random samurai given the name Orochi like some rank, was it so hard to call him a Ronin? Especially the main character of the samurai, he has no lord after some events happen in the game thereby making him a Ronin. As for poorly delivered acting, it only happens in one scene, but the Kensei is trying to stop fights from breaking out and the Shugoki comes in to tell them that Vikings are attacking; the line is written as “uhhh.... Vikings!”, but the Shugoki says it like he’s confused almost like he’s questioning if there are really vikings. Lastly for the plot hole, near the end of the story the Orochi sees a band of Knights ; these knights happen to be deserters of Blackstone who didn’t agree with Apollyon. Though one deserter doesn’t make sense; a story integral character left Apollyon’s knights, but in the story not only is he told the entire plan, he agrees with the plan. He never shows a single sign of doubt towards Apollyon, but there he is in chapter three. You never see him leave Blackstone, it’s just one moment he’s there the next he isn’t. Overall the story is bland, it’s a tired over told tale that leaves little to nothing in terms of enjoyment. The characters faired a little better, but not by much.
For Honor’s story cast is not very enjoyable; there are a few diamonds in the rough, but not many. You heard my piece on Apollyon, and in my opinion she’s the worst of them all. For the characters my ordering from favorite to least is a little different from how I ordered the stories. The samurai still hold last, but the Vikings are my favorite. Though that’s as a group; for individual characters, my favorite was the main character of the Knights which was the warden. The Warden develops extremely well throughout the story; at first he welcomes the idea of joining the Blackstone Legion, but as time goes on he starts to question the ethics of this group. His final scene in the knight campaign is really well done and all together beautiful in terms of the portrayal. As for groups, the reason I like the Vikings the most is because of how charismatic they are throughout their story. The only one I don’t care for is the Valkyrie; she remains stale throughout the whole viking story and hardly changes. The rest of the group is lively and fun; the berserker is comedic in how he acts, he’s not all that smart and tends to do the first thing that comes to mind. The Jarl is your classic viking; he’s all about fighting, drinking, and saying random things only a Norse man would say. One last character in the viking story is this female berserker named Siv; she feels extremely forced, most of the time you see her she’s screaming raider at the top of her lungs. It sounds terrible and tends to be more aggravating to listen to than exhilarating in any way. Then last comes the Samurai; for me they do nothing that makes them stand out. All of them feel really boring and out of place in the story as a whole. They don’t do anything to make me out right hate them, but at the same time they don’t bring anything to the table to make me want to watch either. Not much can be said about them; the Shugoki was the only one I had voice delivery problems with, the rest of the cast sounded fine and performed fine as well. Yet that’s just it, it was just fine. Overall the cast had it’s ups and downs; there were some that developed and developed well. While others just stood still and never really made an effort to become something, or in Apollyon’s case they became to much of something. Though now with the story out of the way; how do these characters fair in multiplayer gameplay.
As specified before, For Honor has three factions; in the three factions there are a total of four playable characters. Each factions has a all-rounder, a defender, an assassin, and a hybrid fighter. All-rounders are as you expect; they’re not the best killers or tanks, but they can manage a bit of everything; defenders are your more defense oriented fighters while assassin’s are the damage dealers, and then lastly the hybrids who excel with their reach. For me I played the viking assassin, which was the berserker, and the knight defender known as the conqueror. I was slowly trying to learn the Valkyrie, but I stopped playing before really getting into her play style. Now usually you’d think it would be best not to do to much of one thing, but that would be wrong in terms of this game. Most of my experience in this game was against teams that only played as assassins; and not a spread of the three, but a team full of only Orochi. Orochi is one of the most played characters I’ve seen and when I see a full team of them it really puts a damper on things. Not to mention that a lot of people were already prestiged in their character countless times. This was one of the main reasons I quit the game; it’s not fun fighting a team of one character, especially when that character feels broken to fight. Many people I talk to say that it’s all about finding a counter to said character, and I took that argument for some time; however, that doesn’t work when there are four orochis at a high level. Not only will they have better gear that does more, but they will also have all their perks. So if they’re in a party they can just build their orochi around any character making my efforts useless. That aside, one thing I learned is don’t try to play every character; test them at first, but not every character is for everyone. I love the berserker because they prioritize attack over defense, but when I tried other characters I found myself having trouble. It took me some time to get the hang of conqueror, but when I touched other defenders I found I just couldn’t play them. There is definitely a learning curve to this game, and I do believe that a fair amount of skill is needed to play the game; though as it stands I feel there is some bad balancing as well. In a recent update my two characters got tweaked while characters like the orochi were untouched; do I think it was unfair to change the two I play, no, but I feel there are more pressing characters in need of a respec. The game just launched recently so of course there are problems that will need to be fixed, but I just wasn’t satisfied with the game anymore and I don’t have the patience to wait for patches when I’m getting little satisfaction in return. Don’t get me wrong, I like the characters in many ways and not all the problems lie with the characters alone, but they play a big role. We’ll get to those problems in due time, but first how does the game look and sound?
I may have a lot of problems with For Honor, but I can agree that the game is visually stunning. Sadly I can’t really get to much visuals of the game because I would be using footage from let’s players off youtube; the best I can get is this gameplay footage from IGN.

Where should I start with the game; the animations of the characters look amazing to say the least. From a single swipe of their weapon to the gruesome executions. Each hit feels like you’re hitting them with the force you desire; if the game can run smooth so to do the visuals. Then there’s the scenery; as you play the game each stage will change based on who currently owns the land. One day you could be fighting in a castle with samurai decal, while the next day the vikings could have moved in. This also influences the weather dynamics of the game; whoever owns the land will also in turn change the weather. It could be snowing like in the video above, and then the next day on the same stage it might be clear or rainy. Even small details like your characters weapon and armor; the design you wish to wear, and even what tattoo you might want on your arm. A lot of work went into making this game look beautiful and it doesn’t fall short. As for the games music; it’s good, but nothing special. Chances are you’ll be to focused on the gameplay to really stop and hear the music. I myself never remember a single music track playing during PVP; I know there was some in the story mode, but that’s it. Though there are some good selections among the soundtrack; one of my favorites being the main theme you’ll hear a lot as you play. Here is that and a few others I thought stood out among the rest.

For Honor looks stunning, and though it’s soundtrack isn’t as apparent in PVP; it none the less has an amazing OST. Lastly and most importantly comes the gameplay; I gave a little bit of my opinion back in the characters segment, but there’s more that needs to be discussed.
For Honor is a great game in practice; what I mean by this is that what Ubisoft advertised looks great in terms of gameplay, but what we got wasn’t just what was advertised. Instead of a game where you got head to head with other players, most of the time it’s one against many. To explain this lets first look at the game modes. There are Duels which are a 1v1 elimination match; then there is Brawl, essentially the same as duel but instead it’s 2v2. After this comes Domination, Skirmish, and Elimination; all three of these modes are 4v4. In domination you battle for control of three points; Skirmish is team deathmatch, and elimination is last team standing wins. I loved duels and brawls; duel was everything I wanted from the game, an honorable one on one fight. Brawls were basically the same; if a person died there was usually an honor system between players where there was no interference during fights. As for the other three modes there was way to much that made those modes unplayable for me. For Honor’s community isn’t the greatest; that’s not to say they are aggressive or that they use vulgar, language like other communities. Instead it’s in the way they play; IGN’s video I put above actually shows this. In the 4v4 game modes you’ll more than likely never have an honest honorable fight; most games will have players ganging up on some unlucky person making it impossible to counter or fight back. Though if that doesn’t happen then you might get thrown off an edge; a lot of my battles didn’t end with someone dying by a weapon, but instead ended in someone, usually me, getting pushed off an edge. I’m not saying these aren’t viable tactics, but I didn’t buy this game to just sit and die because four people decided to pool together, or because people just want to thrown people off ledges or into traps, and there spawns another problem with the game. For Honor is terrible in letting players know about how to do things, as well as the hazards each stage holds.
Tumblr media
This isn’t the exact image that shows, but when a map loads you’ll get an image of said map like the one above and some conditions the map has like the current weather; however each of these loading screens forgets to include potential hazards to avoid. In one stage there are geysers all throughout the map and stepping in a geyser right when it’s going to erupt with instantly kill you. I didn’t know this, but my friends told me that the story tells you this. Another instance of this comes from basic mechanics of the game; while on a ladder you can slide down the ladder or grab someone above you. The game’s starting tutorial never tells you how to do this so I never did it, but countless people did it to me. Can you guess where the introduction to this was? In the story of course; I don’t mind there being tutorials in the story, but for a game that is advertised as a multiplayer oriented game I expect less tutorials in the story and more tutorials and warnings at the start of the game, or during the loading screen as tips.Lastly is Ubisoft themselves; the company is extremely stingy in how their game operates. Currently For Honor is running on a player to player server system instead of dedicated servers; this causes a lot of problems. For me games ran pretty smoothly most of the time, but there were moments where the game would kick all players, or lag would occur. This also doesn’t help the gameplay as a whole; on the current system you might experience problems with your timing on guards, parries, or basically anything that involves timing which for this game is a lot. The only real pro to this system was that no one had host advantage, but that’s if you could stay in a game. Aside from all this though, the gameplay, or what was intended is really fun. If I could have an honorable battle to myself there was no problem; I had fun in duel and brawl, but playing only two game modes will get boring. The game is advertised as For Honor, Honor being a key word, but the game has some of the most dishonorable moments that it just drains you of the will to continue. This was the main reason I left the game; I thought why play a game that’s going to anger me when I can play something I know I’ll enjoy, and thus the final nail in the coffin.
Overall I give For Honor a 5 out of 10, it’s just average to me; I debated doing two scores for the game considering the game as it was advertised and how it is actually played, but that just seems wrong. I don’t want to hate the game, but at the same time I don’t wish to hold it high. So it sits in the middle for me. I feel like if I played the story this would have ranked lower than a 5 but I have no right to review something I have not played; I may have watched the story all the way through, but that’s always been my stance of things. The story was terrible in my opinion and the characters not much better; there are some balancing and fixes that need to be done as well as some changes that Ubisoft will need to both come to terms with and utilizes to make this worth every penny. Though for me I don’t see this game in my future, at least not for quite some time.
Next week will be the review for Demi-chan, sorry for the long review, but I had a lot that I needed to get off my plate; until then however, have a nice day.
