“Is that so? Hm, well this one only speaks the truth. To look upon thine image is to be blessed with a sight as beautiful as a field of flowers in bloom. I could honestly go on and on for hours.”
Geh.
“...Those words are more suited towards somebody of your own visage, Merlin. I wasn’t aware that I was carrying a mirror.” Him, a flower? He was more like a thorn if anything.

“Good morning, my love. You look as beautiful as ever today as well.”
“Of course, that in itself is a given, Merlin. Though flattery would only get you so far.”

Rude old man would outlive us all. ❝ Shishou… I doubt the gates to heaven would welcome you warmly after all your practices at times have been questionable.❞ His ‘hobbies’… ❝ Oh? It didn’t bite you? ❞
“You’re right, it wouldn’t accept me, oh but Granny probably would.” By granny, Abe no Seimei was referring to the Goddess of Rice and Mother of Foxes. That’s his grandmother. “Hmm...bite, huh? Are you hoping that he would have eaten me?”

❝ AhShishou..❞ A pause as she stares at him, ❝ Not dead yet now are you? What with your interesting hobbies.❞ And favoritism to dark things. ❝ Found anything interesting in your travels?❞
She ignored his comment about her being an old woman, ah how the little brat was slowly maturing. “Even if I die, Enma-sama wouldn’t let me near the River.” He yawned and lay comfortably on the ground. “No, nothing interesting ah but I did get to ride on Yamato no Orochi-sama.”

“Hmm....Kaguya, huh? It has been a long time.” His eyes examined the younger woman from head to toe. “...huh, you’re trying to become a nun now? I supposed it can’t be helped since you already pass the age of marriage.”

“You’re right, I do know the answer. I know more things about you than most people do.” Maybe he understood him better than either of them gave him credit for.
“Why…That’s a silly question. Seimei. I raised you from the time you were a child. I bore witness to your successes and failures. I taught you everything I know, and you took to it better than any other. Why do I feel so much attachment…? Because, to me you were never just Kuzunoha’s problematic child I was meant to keep an eye on. To me, you are part of my family.”
He sighed and shook his head. “It never mattered to me if you cared about me, or if you held any affection for me in your heart. I simply wished for YOUR well being and happiness, however that may come about.”
He was squinting. He was legitimately squinting at Kamo no Yasunori. It wasn’t disbelief that Seimei felt, oh no, it was beyond that. He felt...honestly rather disgusted how a human could even consider a troublemaker like Seimei as his family? Finally, the fox sighed as he tapped his fan against his chin before opening it up and begin to fan himself. Truly, how disgusting.
“Hmpf, and yet you don’t feel disappointed when I don’t share the same feelings with you. Are you actually just a masochist then, Yasunori-dono?” He could test that water but that’s for another day. “If that’s what you wish for, then have no fear, I am quite well and quite happy.”
He was surrounded by his beloved kind of ayakashi and he no longer has to obliged to human law. He can do whatever he wants now.

What he wanted to say was too cold. He must bite back his own vicious pragmatism that said, ‘what do such things matter to a dead man? why would that matter so long as it was done?’ He was alive again, now, he had time to ruminate on such matters when before he had not. He had a chance now to try to understand his student better, and he would take if. If that was all this second life would give him he would seize it in both hands and refuse to let go.
“Tell me, Seimei. Whose sake was it for?”
The answer was obvious. Whose sake was it for? Why did Seimei work so hard for the human world that he obviously disliked? Smiling at his former teacher, the one known as Abe no Seimei simply sat there and smiled. Yes, because saw it all.
“Why should I tell you, you already know the answer.”
He didn’t avoid the question, Yasunori was fully aware of the sole reason why Abe no Seimei worked with humans despite losing most of his own humanity. Pulling his own fan out, Seimei pressed the old relic against his lips as he had a playful look in his eyes. “Truly, you are a strange man. Why feel so much attachment to me?”
Seimei made his feelings quite clear.

He sighed softly. “For all the mistakes or missteps you may have made, Seimei, you still accomplished much. As your teacher, how could I not be proud of the advances you made in Onmyodo? How could I not be proud of how far you out shined me, how your name is still remembered to this day as the greatest Onmiyoji who ever lived? As your teacher, how could I not be proud of those things?”
“I believe you think I expected a different outcome? I know you. I know how you are. I know the types of actions you would take. Perhaps I never truly could understand, but those things became familiar to me. Do you think that I would judge you? To disapprove? Only two things mattered to me, Seimei: That you carried on the arts I taught you and that you were happy. However, I think, you only managed one of those things, didn’t you?”
“And that’s where your misunderstanding begins, Yasunori-dono.”
Truly, this man hasn’t changed one bit. He admits of never understanding Seimei, that was fine. He was aware of that fact that nobody could understand him, only one person was ever close to understanding him and he killed him. But in the end, that act only proves to Seimei himself that he was beyond human understanding.
“For whose sake did I do this for?”

“You never did enjoy doing serious work. But you did more than I could have asked for. And I am proud of everything you accomplished.”
“...” Seimei, for once, sighed deeply. It wasn’t a good sigh either. “Yasunori-dono.” His tone was flat. “I believe you are misunderstanding something gravely about me. What is there to be proud?”
