Q&A #111
After a far too long a wait leading to far too long a Q&A. Enjoy!
Anonymous asked:
Have you considered adding another way to get the effect of the Denial mantra besides Hypnosis, maybe a Corruption or something? I like the effect, which makes it a little unfortunate I can't get it on trained slaves due to the degree of exclusivity between training a slave vs hypnotizing one.
- - There is a mechanic where some slavers with either Hypnosis or a bunch of other potentially mind affecting traits have a chance to implant certain mantras on certain trainings. Denial isn't one of them yet, but I can definitely see that being included on a future training.
Anonymous asked:
One thing I noticed about dwarf player characters is that they are the only dwarves that start out without having the Resilient trait. Could you please make that something that dwarf players start with to match up with their in game counterparts?
- - That's a really good shout. Added the trait to all of the regular dwarf starts.
Anonymous asked:
Hey! I was wondering if you are ever going to be releasing a guide on some of the older assignments? I am a bit of a completionist and there are just a small number of them i have yet been able to beat. Most of these being the ones iwht unique characters. Ive gotten critical succes so many times without recieving the unique. So will there be any guides in the future or is there any forum of chat where ppl with knowlegde on all of this recide?
- - There is a wiki and there's a link to it on the tumblr on the No Haven page. There's threads on Hypnopics Collective and TFGames, and possibly other places too. There's also the discord for patrons where people are always happy to answer those questions.
Anonymous asked:
Some questions how the like and dislike system works. What are a characters likes and dislikes based on? completely random or are there things that can affect them. Are they set in stone? so if i have a general chat, find out a character hates smithing will he always hate it? Also from aesendril and Kiruna seem to have a relationship status in their examines. Can you get these for random or your own characters too? Can two of my slavers have that kind of relationship or is it only the 2 uniques?
- - They're rolled at the beginning of the game, and do get affected at least partially by their traits. So someone who started with Leader will like being a Second-in-Command or Spiritual Leader more, and visa versa for someone with Follower. There are morning events where they can shift upwards and downwards. There are relationships that can form between slavers. So far there's a couple of assignments that can form relationships for good and bad. There will likely be other ways for them to happen in future.
Anonymous asked:
Are missi9ons like the reign of thw witch queen a one time thing even if you do not go on it? Sometimes it appears a bit to early in a playthrough and i jusut dont have the slavers to do it. Does that mean i lose the chance of ever doing it? The mission private passage has a bunch of really cool uniques. One of the best assignments you have in the game imo. But after getting one of the uniques i can´t seem to get the mission to appear again. Is it bad rng or is it locked after getting a unique?
- - There's only a couple of assignments like Witch-Queen that are one offs and I've had that feedback from others so now it won't appear as early as it used to. Glad you liked it! Funny you say that too as this week we've been doing some polling games on the discord where various stuff gets matched against the other in random eliminations and Private Passage was voted best assignment ever (Spectacle of the Sacred was second, and third place was A Deluge of Oozes). Bad rng I'm guessing, as it's made to be repeatable.
Anonymous asked:
What was the inspiration for your game? It says on your page here that you were inspired by the doff system from STO, could you elaborate a bit on that? What with games like Fort of Chains seemingly being inspired by your game, I tried to look at whether this "text-based procedurally generated weekly quest party management" genre existed in the non-adult sphere, but I couldnt really find anything, which is surprising, considering that this would probably be attractive to the DnD community.
- - Pretty much exactly that. Didn't have much interest in that MMO, and yet the concept they had of collecting various lower deck type officers who all had their own traits, and then sending them off to do various stuff from raiding enemy ships down to putting on a play (no lie, that likely will be a NH assignment sooner or later) for various rewards I found to be surprisingly compelling. So like with WR where I took a chan dice roller game and thought can I do this in RAGS, I had the same thought with the doff system. Of course I've complicated and expanded on the idea a whole bunch since.
Also was unaware of Fort of Chains, but on looking they do give me a shout out which is most appreciated, thanks!
Anonymous asked:
any ability to move some of the traits like strong right arm or revears to the encampment ? just so it cleans up the PC
- - Strong Right Arm and Recruiter should be removed after the game starts, but yes that's a good idea. What I'll likely do is redo that miscellaneous full custom options and all of those Encampment specific which makes sense as they're not so specific to the player themself.
Anonymous asked:
Is it possible to play on mobile?
- - That's one of many reasons I'm working to convert the game to Twine so then it should be playable by anything with a browser.
Anonymous asked:
Not sure if I am extremely unlucky or its an actual bug, but I seem to roll only male slavers when I choose females as preferred gender in general orders.
- - It was a bug, and will be in the next public release coming soon.
Anonymous asked:
Have you considered adding a solo game mode where you start with no slavers whatsoever? Also, any plans to add the options to start with other advanced traits such as Flier, Riding, Bimbo, etc to full custom characters? Looking forward to the next update!
- - I have yes. The idea was to do a 'super-villain' style start under the scenarios where you'd have some big advantage to counteract the lack of staff, like being better at planning, being better at seducing minions, or just having lots of gold and a better source of mercenaries. Fleet is already in there, Flying possibly, but I like having that as part of slaver upgrades as a big perk from that, and Bimbo is available in the patreon TF edition version.
whitewolf1414 asked:
Hello just curious. Will it be possible in the future for the player to get images for the encampment, as well as images for specific buildings inside the encampment, like your personal tent or lodge? Will we also be able to use those buildings in the later future, maybe for the next major game you work on? And second question. Will the other slavers be able to follow quest threads (like extra actions) on assignments or is this only available for the protagonist? Thanks :)
- - I would definitely like to get more images of the encampment like that one I got with the wright, succubus, neko, tentacle beast, and sleeping lamia. There's going to be at least one assignment I have planned that's so long you'll need to designate a leader for it if you don't go yourself and then that way they'll be the one to get to make the various choices that come up. I'm also thinking it'll be fun that you'll have a choice for them to try to take over when they get back in case you liked playing them so much.
Anonymous asked:
I keep getting the JIT prompt and brain too smol to figure out
- - In the readme file that comes with the game there's a link to a page on the patreon available to everyone with a full step by step guide of how to get the game to work.
Anonymous asked:
Is there anyway in No Haven to remove the Puppet Leader status? It seems really complicated to recover and I would rather just promote a new leader at this point, but I can't get my current character enslaved no matter how intentionally bad I do. I would definitely like to see some kind of functionality that allows your current character to give up, either being enslaved or leaving the encampment. I really enjoy the game otherwise.
- - There's not. If you get puppet leadered you become immune to being enslaved, as the encampment basically treats you like a slave by that point anyway. I can definitely see a case though there should be a way for things to go bad enough that both you and whoever is puppetting you ends up being enslaved. Could be a fun event that.
Anonymous asked:
When re you going to finish/improve the biomancy.
- - Biomancy is getting an improvement in the next release via a reward from one of the new assignments. That also was one of the needed steps on the storyline I have in mind for it. As to finishing? Well that could be awhile. There's a commission I need for the ending that will need to be done, likely when I can afford it as a bonus as it's one I want to keep as a surprise so will be only in the game. There's also at least one or two more assignments that will also have general usage outside of the storyline. I know how it ends, and that's all been worked out. I do though need to work out some more of the mid-steps and I'm not sure at this point how many there should be. Definitely will be at least one though and that will also need a commission.
Anonymous asked:
why doesn't the rough landing download link work?
- - Ah, I see tumblr has played silly buggers again where it breaks links cause why not. ...And I can't edit the page as tumblr is threatening to reset my theme. This is one of the many, many reasons why I mainly use twitter and patreon these days. Okay the link is basically right, just delete the 'https://href.li/?' at the beginning and it works fine.
Anonymous asked:
More like suggestion: can we make "Truly Divine" not show at the very start?
- - I think that's fine? It's not like Witch-Queen where it only appears once, and not all assignments you start with are going to be viable options.
whitewolf1414 asked:
First question. will there be extensive player character exploration? Second will there be extensive character interaction between everyone at the encampment? Third and final. Will there be a character image mechanic in your future builds of this game. Say like crushstation made with their game female agent. Thank You. :)
- - Not sure what you mean by that one? Yes I do want to do more interaction between your slavers so they're not all focused so much on you. That will likely be more in dilemmas. Third, likely not. I prefer to keep that as a patron thing so I can give it more care and attention.
Anonymous asked:
Level 1 kinky draenei guard named Qualmore Findel i went to draenei territory south east tried to go east and found a chest. tentacle beast i try going east another chest another beast east once more chest white potion. Not sure if its a bug but i decided to report it anyway I'm using the twine version of whorelocks revenge. Looking forward to future updates.
- - Well people did say they wanted to see more chests :D More seriously, WR is pretty much on hold due to the hostile reception the Twine conversion got. If you do like it, want to see more of it then please let me know, and I'll then be more likely to come back to it. Not a lot of point developing something that's a cat when people keep moaning that it's not a dog, and doesn't even bark, but if you do like the cat, and happy with it being a cat, I'm totally down for coming back so it's not such an unfinished cat. It's also entirely possible that metaphor got away from me so far.
Anonymous asked:
Completing the "Truly Divine" quest causes the potential slaver value to get stuck at -1, thus preventing the recruitment of any more slavers via level up bonus.
- - That should be fixed for the public release.
Anonymous asked:
Hey, I recently found the whorelock's revenge game, and I really like it. The only thing is that I really want to play this game as an Android game with the latest version. What would be the best way to make this happen? I'm currently playing through my smartphone's Chrome browser.
- - Hey someone else who likes WR! (see a previous question in this Q&A for context) I'd need to learn how to code for android, or there'd need to be someone interested in converting the twine version. So not out the question, and would be potentially be a good project to look at when the No Haven twine conversion is done if the other project I have in mind doesn't pan out.
Anonymous asked:
Are you a girl
- - Sure if it makes you happy.
Anonymous asked:
Is the latest update really more than 6-7 months old? There doesn't seem to be any information about it here or on twitter, and every patreon post is locked so we can't tell anything from that either...
- - This year has not been great to put it lightly. Then this one still does puzzle me. I do a public post on the patreon that's also linked on the twitter every two weeks, and I've given updates on how things are going. I've checked on another browser where I wasn't signed in and it worked fine? I've also been posting the patch notes on the current patreon release on the twitter as twitlongers so there also should be no issue with accessing those.
Anyway, the new public release will be out very soon indeed so you won't have to wait much longer.

4 Super Mario Bros Download for PC – Information
About the gameplay: Super Mario Bros
I guess each one of you must be aware of how, when and where the story of the game goes. The Super Mario Bros were developed and published by Nintendo in the year 1985.
This game was released as a successor to their best selling game known as Mario Bros, which was released in the year 1983.
The players are supposed to control Mario or maybe his brother Luigi (while playing in a multiplayer environment) and travel the world to find and save the princess.
During their journey in the Mushroom Kingdom, the players need to recuse the Princess Toadstool from the Browser (the antagonist).
Furthermore, during the whole gameplay, the players are supposed to dodge a lot of hurdles and have to conquer some of the enemies too.
On the bright side, Super Mario Bros also give the users with different power-ups as super mushroom, fire, and Starman.
If the player completes a level, he’ll be given with an extra life in the next level.
Super Mario Bros successfully managed to get its entry in the list of most successful and intuitive games of all times.
Additionally, Mario and Luigi need to collect several coins that are scattered randomly at different spots.
The game ends when the player gets defeated three or more times in a row either by the enemies or if the timer goes off.
For each defeat, the user loses one life at a time. Apart from that, if there is any power up taken up by the player, then the first thing that he’ll lose when defeated is his power.
Then comes the life. So it makes even more interesting.
Also, the enemies can be conquered using the power-ups, or by jumping on them.
Koopa Troopa retracts inside its shell when the player jumps on it, and the other hand Goomba gets flattened and therefore defeated.
The overall gameplay is divided into 8 worlds with 4 stages per world.
The final world will take you to the castle where you need to fight with the browser to rescue the princess.
Now, that you know each and everything about the game, it is time, to get to know about Super Mario Bros download for pc.

Mechanic Can't Stay At Home T Shirt
He says Donald Trump can’t cancel it but he and Republicans are making it too hard for so many to cast their ballots and attacking vote by mail to distract and confuse voters hear a Mechanic Can't Stay At Home T Shirt difference between the learning activity near you and Bernie simply for other states like Colorado and Utah are voting by mail four years and agree but now Trump has admitted he tried to sabotage the post office to undermine voting by mail and were not to let him do that our job is to make sure everyone can both safely whether a person or by mail and your job is to make sure you vote is talk to your friends and neighbors spread the word to everyone you out to about 230330 for more than your principal from home bequest returning your or remind me when you now to make prompt about don’t let anyone keep you from exercising your most sacred rights make your plan to vote grab your mask head to the polls the first day there open or repress your ballot and send it in right away and know this election results may take a little longer. This is so sad at the base already helps couple officials because already done couple of your fishing events so I’ll be able to show for you how we fishand other stuff so don’t worry but like for some reason this event is really hard like it’s impossible to catch any of these fishes either developers are to change the difficulty of these events or are there will be something else but like Sears is impossible I don’t understand what else can we do like you can see the most super quicklyand as you can see that yellow bubble just doesn’t move as fast as you can let either you have to guess what is going to go but when you guess it’s impossible it’s really just annoying like I would love to see a person would actually be able to get catch the fish here when is Mauricio like this like I’m just trying to guess that is gonna drop down in a drop down differently low while you so sad I wanted to get at least one fish for you here on the camera but it’s impossible to this associate I don’t want that one make you feel at this event is bad because this event is really good as you guess he thought something super easy but there are definitely easier fishes to catch like these ones are really arts molecular you to be super big because yes there is the size of fish will loftily sketch a lease want to show your giving up to give up at this pointand also forgot to mention for you I’m sometimes trying to catch this fish that look at this like it just got away whatever so I think every time I failed to catch a fish one fish disappears from the pond so there’s only limited amount of fish in the pond here hopefully will be able to catch at least oneand show for you but if you were to go to the topand I’ll try to catch fishes there from the topand I think in the northern locations you will need to have this armor otherwise you will freeze here to definitely that’s what I’m assuming you mean why would spawn in the northern so it looks like we will be able because this fish I want to scream to early but I think this fish was bit easier than the rest of us is doing all my pocket please like 90 done all know dude no game is getting away made like all my God how my supposed to catch it please it was almost done I’m going to catch you anyways like I’m ready I’m ready I’m focusing here hundred percent like the sun vocal instinct ultra instant you know what I’m talking about right the I’m clicking it as hard as it is almost done I was almost done made like what is going on but fishes that my fishing sharks here lay it’s impossible way it seriously impossible that what is going on dude I’m I give up I give up on the light I came I swear there are easier fishes to catch me this event is the hardest one but is seriously just annoying like this is not easy catching fish like it’s not easy but it’s not easy at all like I would love to see somebody catching it hopefully it will reduce the difficulty because I don’t understand like I’m just going to give up on this fish was just mutually video complaining about how hard it is to fish but I swear there are easier fishes to catch him enough to focus on whatever that officials got away ultra to go to the very very topand I’ll try to fish from over here maybe night looks bad but whatever list of fish from the side but it super but I don’t see anything like this spot but we will see maybe that will help out the case we have here another fish please tell me I will be able to catch it so it’s impossible this one we won’t catch this one as well it most quickly for your bubble I think you I mean I would be fine if we got kind of fish is a once in a while but like getting five fishes like that in a row that it’s like it’s impossible to search escape I did my best all I could in my weapon broke this mistake here another fishing rodand let’s try to fish once againand I think there’s a limit to fishes in the pond left or something so I mean okay Boomer we will see it will save your soul soon soon I’m to pull it once again please let me fish let me get at least one fishing vessel there is a chest right so from that Jesse can get the various items if I would if I will be able to catch that fish I will be able to show for you how to works okay so I don’t have to let the physical otherwise the chess will disappear here as well so I have to be very lucky with catching the fishand catching with that just for the chassis can get like items to the for your whatever it’s called decides on at least guys that this because there is no way I’ll be able to open up that thing you if I don’t catch the fish so I called the fish catfish finally after foreverand a little after four attempts I was able to catch this fishand it’s a decision of soft meet almost with no bones the most important thing when catch a catfish is not let it take you underwater year no way also these fishes are to have different rarities as you can see there’s that starand it looks like Brown or something vendors blue a quality fishand then there is like golden quality fish so I was able because this one is there still couple more fishes in the pond so let’s keep catching the babyand I don’t know how that just mechanic works like I do understand how it works you have to like cash that just for smalland then you can catch the fish but like is one such a difficulty it’s impossible like I don’t think anybody could ever do it like is a serious to just guess when the fish is gonna jump upand when it won’t jump up but for now it seriously impossible like it’s pretty cool but other easier events I think it’s just because this is like winter location event so it’s a bit harder hopefully that will change the difficulty for real unless I’m doing something wrong here which I don’t understand the case I’m trying to catch this one I’m trying to catch this fish it just doesn’t work as you can see guys that’s it like it’s impossible I would love to seriously see a person who could catch a fish from there like seriously unless they’re going I know even if you know the pattern it’s physically possible like in the game to move that orange bubble like that while well that’s a great event okay there is another chess of the topand in order to catch it all have to move that yellow bubble to the top to break the chestand get that reward from it but do I have to catch the fish of the sink that we will try to maybe just guys that reward I think this is going to stay well maybe Lisa got the reward know I didn’t even get the reward I think that’s itand it’s all the fishes disappear from the pond so if I was maybe a bit more pro because me that just sucked. Is a Ponzi scheme and privatization would be good for all of us and when Congressman pants was in Congress he was the chief cheerleader for the privatization of Social Security even after President Bush stopped pushing for it government Congressman pants pushing for it were to stand up against efforts to privatize Social Security and will look for ways to keep it solvent going forward focusing primarily on apparel text gives well thanks Elaine there they go again not all and I’ve said about those securities were to meet our obligations to our seniors that’s no reasonably said we’re going to immediately to the Medicare not that that’s what this campaign is really about senator and I get this is this is the old scare tactic that they wrote last is not in all of that I just look there’s a question that you asked that I won’t be around voting record I have to go back to my you’re running with Hillary Clinton who wants to raise taxes by trillion dollars increase spending by 2 trillion and you say your to keep

Android 10 Gestures
I flashed a rom on my Android phone in November. And it was pretty good. But it would occasionally do some funny things like soft restart. So I decided it's time for a new rom. I chose ExtendedUI simply because it was on the top of the XDA forum. And some people said it was pretty good.
But this post is about Android 10. Specifically the gestures. Because there are a bunch of other things Android 10 did but I have no idea which part is part of Android and which part is part of ExtendedUI. So I'll just talk about the gestures here.
So how are the gestures? Bad. OK, now everyone is talking about the fact that the swipe from the sides goes back overwriting the native app functionality. I don't care about that. In MIUI it was the case. In FNG I had it set up to do that too. I never use the swipe. The only app I know has swipe functionality is the Play Store and that they chose the left side to swipe which is so hard to do. I just push the button.
Edit: I realize now that I actually use the side gesture a lot when I don't want to reach up for the hamburger button (so only the left side of the screen). In FNG I have the back gesture mapped only to the right of the screen so it's not a problem. In Android 10 gestures I believe back is mapped to both sides which is a problem. I guess disregard this comment though as it's more annoying than I thought. Android should just do it like FNG and let you configure what sides it uses.
No, the problems with it are... well, there are really two. The first is the left/right gesture. Basically you can swipe left and right on the bottom of the screen to go to the left/right app in the multitasking thing. After using Slim Recents for so long I now think Android's native multitasking screen is completely stupid but sure. Whatever.
The problem with this is I keep accidentally activating it when I want to go home. I guess Googler's have superhuman precision or expect us to all hold our phones with two hands. Because if I swipe up perfectly straight from the bottom as I do about about 90% of the time it'll go home but the other 10% of the time I'll have a slight curve in my trajectory it'll swipe between apps instead. It is so frustrating. And then I'll try again and it'll do the same thing again. And again. And again. Or even worse it doesn't do anything at all except shake the screen a little bit.
So the second problem isn't quite as infuriating, but it is still quite annoying. You know how in iOS the bottom gesture bar is just seamlessly there? Well, Android doesn't do that. Well, sometimes they do but some apps there is this giant black bar there. Like why? Do you honestly expect those five pixels to block something important? And if you open a keyboard there's also a line and it's huge for whatever reason.
But that's not all, because if it was I'd probably be OK with it. There are also the Google assistant corners. Basically swiping in from the bottom corners launches the Google assistant. And it will show these helpful little lines the first time you go home to indicate them to you. Oh, thank you for telling me. And then you go home again. And those corners are there again. OK, I know. And then you go home again. And they're there. Every. Single. Time. OK, I KNOW, YOU CAN STOP NOW! It is just so annoying. Like why do you have to keep reminding me? Why can't you just show a quick tutorial at the beginning like, I don't know, every other feature of the gestures (except the app switch) does?
And why do I even need the Google assistant anyways? How often will I actually use it? If I want to search Google I'll open a web browser and type it in. Same for the weather If I want to search an app I'll just use the app drawer. A weird swipe gesture is just... why? Like if I needed the Google Assistant I'd just add a shortcut to my app bar.
Oh, and that's another thing. The default launcher of ExtendedUI is the Pixel Launcher. And that thing has a google search bar at the bottom of the screen where it is easiest to touch. A literal search bar. Like why? Even that bar isn't useful for all the same reasons I've listed before and it's ugly AF. Google has some unhealthy obsession with itself. At least they aren't anticompetitive like Microsoft... yet.
So yeah, I installed a Magisk Module called 'Full Screen Gestures (Q)' which hides the bar. Plus it has the added benifit of allowing you to exit full screen apps in a single swipe. Oh, yeah. That's something they brought over too. I've been single swiping out of apps using FNG for months and it worked fine. But Google has to cling to the past and make sure every single feature is brought over whether it makes sense or not. The only bad thing about that Module is that it does not hide the Google Assistant notification bars which is just infuriating.
Edit: I realize now that this is incorrect. The reason I only had to do a single swipe up was because it was actually not a full screen app. In full screen apps you still have to swipe up twice. And this is just so frustrating.
I hated it when they suddenly started doing it with buttons because I thought it now took too much time to go home. So if you just want to open an app to check something you now have to do that stupid swipe gesture. This isn't a desktop OS where you'd go in and play a game for an hour or more. This is a mobile OS where you'd play a game usually between a few seconds and a minute or two. So adding this gesture infuriated me.
But at least it made sense in its own twisted way. I mean, if it was a desktop OS it would make a lot more sense but even on mobile I can sort of see where they're coming from even if I don't agree with it.
But with the gesture controls it now makes 0 sense. You swipe and swipe again? Why not just make those the same? I mean maybe you could make a case for removing accidental swipes. But in my time with FNG I've had perhaps 1 accidental swipe ever and even then reopening the app is trivial. It is certainly a better tradeoff than the infuriation I get when I have to swipe up twice.
/Edit
Also a bit of a complaint. Just a normal complaint this time. Apparently there's no support for custom launchers to integrate into the gesture navigations. That neat swipe up and then the app goes into the icon in the Pixel Launcher. It's not so bad. This was the same way with MIUI and its default launcher in Android 9. In fact these gestures feel like a copy of MIUI from last year. The physics I mean, not the annoying bits. Probably Google said to Xiaomi, "Hey, you design something that works and we'll mess it up so people hate it."
Just to be clear you can still switch back to the traditional navigation bar. And I think I'll do that so I can use FNG again which is like Android 10 gestures but actually good.

How to choose an impressive mobile application development company
Some questions are eternal. "Is there God?", "Does he / she love me?"And, surely, "How can I find a decent mobile app development company to build my application?"If 4.77 billion are not convincing enough for you, the number is likely to reach 5.07 billion by 2019. It is not surprising that entrepreneurs are eagerto find the best mobile development company. While most understand the importance of mobile applications for their businesses, they don't want to risk their money and time on something they aren't sure is necessary. But it is easy to show companies why they should invest in a mobile application .Take Thanks giving as an example. Did you know that:
1.Last year, Thanksgiving Day showed its best sales results on mobile devices with a record $ 449 million. 2.Channel Advisor reported that smart phones accounted for approximately 70% of general traffic, while tablets accounted for another 8%.
3.Channel Advisor also stated that, for the first time, mobile e-commerce orders exceeded desktop orders, with 53% of all Thanksgiving orders completed on a mobile device.
Therefore,it is obvious to conclude what this means to do business via mobile; The mobile is the new king of retail. As the previous statistics show, mobile Internet helps companies to be more productive and profitable. So, let's find out how to find a professional technology partner to develop your application. But before you start looking, it's time for you to do your homework. The first thing to do is to gather information on all the important aspects of the pre-development stage, so that when you find the right application development company, you are ready to begin.
Company Profile
Start by describing your company's profile, even if it is a startup. This information will help start your initial dialogue with a development company.Second, describe the values and objectives of your business. With all this information, your future technology partner will implement the functions of your application with greater precision.Below are some of the basic questions to consider:
1.How big is the company? What do you specialize in? Where they are located? Who is your audience? 2.Who would be your main contact for the project? What is your position? Do you have any technical personnel involved in the project? 3.How mature is the project? Are you in the early stages of preproduction, ready for development or product established on other platforms? 4.What is your USP (single point of sale)? 5.How could an application be useful for your company?
You want to start each introductory meeting with all the basic information so you can see if the company you are talking to has the experience you need. They should ask questions about everything I listed above. If they do not touch on these issues, they may not have the experience they need.
How to find a mobile application development company
1.Make use of your professional network It is commonly known that finding a good and reliable developer is something difficult to do. As a rule, expert developers are:
In great demand.
Expensive.
I am not interested in all the concepts of the application.
Again, the hiring process is difficult, but not impossible. Sometimes you don't even have to go far in your search. Entrepreneurs often forget how broad (and useful) their personal network really is. All you have to do is inform your connections about your needs. You can do it using personal publications or social announcements. However, I would recommend using both options at the same time. Try to create your post in an original way. It must be visual, relevant and contain a strong call to action. The same rule applies to social ads. When the work is done, wait and see if this strategy is useful. I put the emphasis on "yes"; You cannot rely solely on this method, but it could be a starting point for you.
2.Use the powers of social networks
Social networks such as Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram are excellent tools to find a company where you can outsource the development of your application. Describe your project, publish the requirements and wait for the developers to come.
3.Start searching on Google Well, there is nothing to explain here; Simply open Google in your browser and enter your request. Naturally, the search results will show only big names on the first page. Do not be frustrated with your rates, because you get what you pay for.Choose the ones you consider appropriate for your needs and your abilities. Find reviews of your company, view your portfolios and maybe even download some applications you have developed to see what you like or dislike.
4.Go to dedicated websites There are dedicated websites such as Clutch, GoodFirms, Toptal and AppFutura that contain application developer profiles, including their portfolios and, most importantly, reviews of their previous work.Alternatively, you can visit sites that host independent profiles such as ELance and UpWork. There is much to consider before deciding who could be a good option, but I suggest contacting companies that have won awards, have been mentioned on technology-related news sites and have the appropriate experience that their specific application requires.
Things to pay attention to when choosing: At this stage, two points are crucial: the type of mobile development agency and its budget. If you are lucky enough to choose the right type of agency, you will enjoy greater flexibility and budget quality. The size of the company is a critical factor to consider since, in general, the larger the company, the higher the price. I put the emphasis on "in general" this is not a universal rule.
However, there is a trap.If your budget is limited and you decide to work with a small development company, you may fall into the illusion that you have saved one or two dollars. I don't blame you, it's natural, especially if you're a startup. But in the long run, it can end in an economic failure. Sometimes, smaller companies have less experience and experience and are more likely to make mistakes when developing. You want to ask about the experience of each team member when choosing a smaller company. As a customer, you should always pay attention to the quality of outsourcing. In other words, one should never consider "cost" as the main objective when outsourcing. As many negative reviews say, companies that declare "the lowest prices in the industry" as their main competitive advantage tend to have a lower performance and, subsequently, offer poor results. The bad news is that you will have to pay more than expected just to do things right for the second time. No one is happy with this kind of scenario. In general, larger and more established companies have more experience and adjust to the initial budget, but guess what: many of them have many overhead costs that increase the cost. You may ask: "How can an adequate balance be found between quality and costs?" You can always shoot for a medium sized company; They tend to have more experienced developers but they have not become so large that their prices are unaffordable. In the end, each project has its own requirements for success, so it is better to make sure you choose the most suitable developer for your project.Location can also be an important factor. As a general rule, US companies. USA, Canada or Western Europe offer higher rates. Companies in the Asian region (India, Vietnam) offer the lowest prices. As described above, finding a good balance between price and quality is in the middle.
When you find a potential partner, you should ask 3 main questions: 1.How long will the development take? 2.How much effort will a project require, in man hours? 3.What is the approximate cost of the project?
Project description Suppose you have found the right company to implement your project. Now is the time to pay attention to the technical details of your application; This is important for both the development company and you. You must have a clear idea of what you will get and explain this so that your partner knows each and every technical aspect that you must implement in your application.Make a detailed list so you don't forget any features during the development stage.Do you plan to build a prototype? What platforms do you want your application to run on? Will your mobile application be compatible with e-commerce engines, internal CMS and other systems? Any detailed information is your best friend at this stage. This means that you must obtain all the specifications you want to have for your application. Sothe basic questions for this part are:
1.Describe the concept of mobile application. 2.What are the main business objectives that the application should help achieve? 3.What platforms do you want your application to run on? (IOS / Android, IOS - iPhone, OS - iPad, Android smartphone, Android tablet). 4.Describe your target audience. 5.What is the concept behind the application? Do you have any creative / design specification for the application? 6.List the sections and features that will be included.
Will the application be integrated with social networks? List all social media channels with which you want your mobile application to interact. Will the application require data caching for offline work? Brainstorm with each department of your company to find needs and desires that can help you create the perfect application, the first time.
Conclusion:
Today, more and more companies are following the trend of mobile applications ,because they are fully aware that a successful mobile strategy requires much more than a website compatible with mobile devices. This is an attitude of doing or dying. In many cases, you can't beat the competition without it. In fact, many small businesses have already created their own dedicated mobile application, perhaps one that they use in their daily lives. Therefore, it is not surprising that these companies are at the forefront whenit comes to taking their marketing to the next level; You can do it too!

Y and Z
Do you guys remember when analysts, insiders, and marketers were trying to “crack” the Millennials (Gen Y)? It wasn’t even that long ago when articles on figuring out how to connect with my generation were vogue. My dad even attended a conference on how to integrate Millennials into the workforce, circa 2010. It still happens from time to time, but now, things are shifting towards figuring out my successor, Gen Z. Makes sense, I guess, considering they’re almost as large as the Millennials and the Boomers, and despite the oldest members being 21 (born in 1996), people haven’t really been looking at the differences between those my age and those born a decade later, largely because they’ve often been lumped in with Millennials.
I’m towards the tail end of the Millennials (born in ‘93), and so I have some friends that are at the beginning of Gen Z, but overall, my friends tend to be Millennials, both younger and older. In some regards, I find more similarities with early Gen Z members than older Millennials, but altogether, I’d say my affinities are definitely more with the Millennials than Gen Z. That’s not a slight against Gen Z, rather just a noted difference, which will probably become blurred as we all get older anyways. Going back to school well past when most people do also puts into perspective a bit of the difference; many of my classmates in first year courses were fresh outta high school (born in ‘98) and it does make me wonder where things are headed as Gen Z grows and matures, and where the generation follows it takes us as a society.
With the Millennials, Boomers and Gen Xers had to learn how to professionally work with a generation that grew up with the Internet in its infancy, with a generation that was given so much from its parents, including growing up being told we’re each our own “special snowflake” and that we should reach for the stars, and so long as we got a degree -- any degree -- we’d be happy. We were considered idealistic, liberal, and tech-savvy.
Well, now, everyone’s used to it, and perhaps because Gen Z is also very tech-savvy and educated and grew up being given participation ribbons, nobody sought out the difference until more recently. But there are differences. Gen Z is more conservative apparently (I don’t see it in terms of social issues), more into “branding” oneself and generally more consumerist. Gen Z is also way more immersed in digital technology than I ever was growing up. I remember into junior high knowing people who still didn’t have Internet or a cell phone; I can’t see that really happening now except in extreme scenarios. Furthermore, they grew up with high speed internet, not that dial up shit I had.
I’m still one to prefer browsing on a stationary, desktop computer, rather than on my phone. The phone is often more handy when I’m out, but if I have a choice, I’ll always go for the computer. Which is partly why I loathe mobile-specific social media for not being more browser-friendly. Being a photographer is no doubt an influence here, as I like being able to view visual media on a larger screen. But I also grew up with desktops, and was used to having to physically go home to chat with people on MSN, and when I was out, I was basically disconnected. I had a cell phone, sure, but I wasn’t texting on it (which was expensive) or browsing the ‘Net on it (which was even more expensive). None of that happened until I got a Blackberry in 12th grade. Millennials grew up around the PC; Generation Z grew up around iPads and iPhones. Apparently, on average, Generation Z does not value time offline, while I personally value being disconnected on occasion (not permanently -- I’m not that much of a luddite). I know when I’ve spent too much time in front of screens.
Gen Z is also more visual. Well, I’m a photographer, so I’m naturally a very visual person, so this works for me on some level. And as a Millennial, I’m not unaware of short attention spans among my cohort. As digital technology continues to make inroads, it only makes sense that attention spans continue to wane. But even still, I’m here, writing long blog posts and I enjoy photoblogs which are more long-form as well. They aren’t easily digestable, though, which is why there are less viewers. It makes sense that social media, then, has moved towards less politicized, more mobile and visually-orientated platforms like Snapchat and Instagram, while Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr are waning, especially among Gen Z. I’m not too happy about that, to be honest. I find value in political discourse and believe that if we don’t fight for rights we may as well not have them. You’re not getting discourse if you’re busy posting aesthetic selfies on Snapchat. It seems like youth (including Millennials) have kinda accepted things as they are, and, perhaps due to overstimulation, are a bit fatigued at all the information out there, and so there is a certain sense of complacency. The general mood of memes seems to be “yeah, the world is shit, I’ve accepted it doesn’t make sense and therefore I’m gonna shitpost rather than do anything about it.” Maybe I’m reading into it too much but I’ve seen others corroborate this mindset. It’s quite a different mentality from 7 years ago, when Twitter was at peak, which is all about discourse, often political. I don’t think the interface of many websites now helps, which bombard you with ads and offers before you can see anything.
It’s a bit early to say, as the youngest Gen Zers are between 0 and 7, depending on who you ask, but I hope one thing that Gen Z and its parents (mostly Gen X) learn from the Millennials is regarding education. It seems like the eldest members of Z were brought up with the same ideas as us, though. I hope that they realize that it is important still to follow what you’re passionate about and you do need to find something of a career that you will enjoy, but I hope that there is more of a practicality about it. My generation was told we’d be set as long as we had a degree -- any degree -- and I can tell you that that simply isn’t the case. It isn’t that there are “worthless” degrees, but that there are degrees which require you to market yourself harder than if you got an Engineering degree and then becoming an Engineer. I already know a few older Millennials who went down that path, and are or have gone back to school later for something more practical yet still enjoyable. Academia works for certain fields, certainly, and the program I’m in is practical, but we’ve flooded universities too much because we’ve imbibed the idea that we need a degree to succeed, which is utter poppycock. A lot of people in university would be better suited to a technical school or a diploma of some sort, which often yield great success without having to pay back a mountain of student loans. I don’t know if Gen Z will learn this, as I know parents of Gen Z kids who’ve really imbibed the post-secondary ideal as much, if not more, than the Millennial’s parents.
I guess if you’re reading between the lines, I’m a bit sardonic about the future. It’s nothing to do with Millennials or Gen Z specifically, as we’re both products of the time we grew up in. A friend of mine joked that I was “born too late” and, considering how slow I sometimes I am with accepting technological trends and how much I like late 20th century pop culture, maybe he’s got a point. But it’s always easy to romanticize the past. The ‘50s were great, if you don’t factor in how close we were to nuclear annihilation or how discriminatory the hegemony was. Furthermore, I’ve definitely become far more aware of things due to being able to access the Internet than if I grew up in an earlier time. Despite the overstimulation, I think we can take for granted how much more aware we are able to be now; friction of distance has been reduced to rubble. Also, my earlier comments about Gen Z favouring visual, favouring mobile, really apply to us all. Millennials have orientated towards these formats, as well as older generations. It definitely seems like my grandparents are more into their smartphone than they ever were Windows 98. It’s just Gen Z is the generation that has no basis of comparison to a pre-mobile era, just like Millennials can’t compare to a pre-Internet age (except maybe some of our eldest members), and both have an influence on their respective generation.
Still, I’m not only curious how I’ll survive progress, but how society will as a whole. America is in late empire, and there is no new Western power to take the helm like after Britain. It’ll be interesting how that plays out for still-maturing Western countries like Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, but it seems like we’re shifting to a pre-Columbian paradigm dominated by the East. As with any change, there’s uncertainty, although America will likely remain a major player in geopolitics for the long term, even if less hegemonic in scope. I’m even more curious about what will become of us once those degrees we hammered thousands upon thousands of dollars on are rendered obsolete by AI. Some say the singularity is nigh, some say it already happened and we were too busy tweeting to notice. But I don’t think it has happened in the Kurzweilian sense, and once that happens, it’ll be interesting to see where things go. If we can “survive” it, we’ll probably be better off. But then there’s still climate change. Maybe once we become a (hypothetical) Kardashev Type 1 civilization, we’ll have progressed towards not killing ourselves over differences and will have finally survived progress.
But for now, I still have to live in a world ruled by filters and brands, all-the-while we became increasingly connected yet disconnected. Maybe I’ll fuck off to Dawson City before having to bear the full front of our digital future. Sounds nicer for someone unwilling to embrace digital advances like so many of my peers. Then again, how different, really, is seeing a bunch of people, disparately glued to their phones, from seeing a different bunch of people glued to their books. Despite being social animals, we’ve long desired our own “space” and privacy, at least in the Western world.

RFA + Minor Trio: Video Games
So I got bored, and being the Mystic Messenger obsessed game addict that I am, my mind wandered to wondering what sorts of video games the RFA would play, like types or genres and some examples (aside from LOLOL in Yoosung’s case of course lol), which led to making this headcanon post. Of course, these are all just my personal headcanons, and I would love to hear what thoughts you guys have for this subject! Sharing headcanons is fun~!! Sorry this got kinda long tho lol I guess I got carried away ^^;;;
Note: If you’re on the mobile app and only see Yoosung’s section, copy and paste the post’s URL into your mobile web browser. That should fix it~
💚YOOSUNG💚
Well we all know that he’s addicted to LOLOL, and probably plays or has tried other MMOs. As perfect as those are for him, I’m looking at other types of games for this. Otherwise it’s too easy lol
Plays RPGs and adventure games the most
When he can make a custom character, his preferred classes are knight or warrior classes, but he’s also open to playing as mages
Definitely the kind of player that picks up every. Single. Side quest. Because he wants to help everyone
Need a certain number of rarely dropped items? No problem!
Want to deliver an item to someone who’s not even a two minute walk away? He’s on it!
Got a super difficult optional boss that you want dead that can–and will–display the Game Over screen multiple times, and you’re offering a class-specific item he can’t use as a reward? Sign him the fuck up!
Unless they want something he doesn’t agree with… -gives Skyrim’s Blades the side-eye-
No matter how hard he tries, he just can’t bring himself to play the “asshole/aggressive character” style
“Sure, this assassin was hired by that one traitor who wants us dead, my party is totally against letting him live since he might try to kill us again, and we have absolutely no reason to trust him aside from his seemingly honest answers which he could have just fabricated to save himself, so logic seems to point at killing him to be safe…………buuuuuuuuuut he could be a helpful party member and then no one has to die!”
Also, he loves games that encourage interaction with other players!
“People think that you don’t get any friends if you play games… but you get tons!” TRUTH!!!
So yeah, games with interaction are great!
Honestly MMORPGs are fucking perfect for him and and that’s why he’s addicted to LOLOL! lol seriously dude game with me plz
Really likes Pokemon for the sense of community with trades and battles and such
Totally attempted to make a competitive team at some point
Whenever new games are announced, he and Seven figure out who gets what version so they can trade version exclusives and such
Can never beat Seven in a battle tho… The one rival battle he can never win T^T
Also this guy is a Kirby fan fight me on this
♥ZEN♥
Not a lot of time for gaming with his schedule, but he doesn’t mind using them to wind down or as a distraction when he has the time or feels really stressed out (and if working out doesn’t help first)
He’s a fan of the more cinematic or story driven games, like Shadow of the Colossus, Heavy Rain, and The Last of Us
Knowing this, Yoosung recommended some Telltale games to him
Zen got hooked. The Wolf Among Us is probably his favorite
Plus their episodic releases really work with his schedule, with each episode lasting about 2 hours, give or take. So if he starts on a fully released one, he can do one episode a day until he’s done
Sometimes he and Yoosung will talk about how their stories went or what choices they made
“Wait, you knew what ‘Glass him’ meant???”
“Of course I did, Yoosung, that’s why I didn’t choose it! What did you think it meant?”
“I thought it meant giving him a drink, not smashing the glass in his face!!!”
“lol well now you know in case they use it again!”
“T_T”
Also, I’m sure this likely goes without saying, but this man is damn good at DDR style games or Pump it Up I guess cuz Korea but you get my point. Good luck trying to beat him lol
I mean, first off, he’s clearly got great rhythm considering his job
And second, great form of aerobic exercise! So why not?
Might try to get Yoosung into exercising more by tricking convincing him to play this with him
He’s definitely a “freestyle” sorta player, doin’ all sorts of flashy moves
Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s been asked to do voice work for a game
Maybe a dating sim…
💜JUMIN💜
Okay, let’s get the obvious out of the way. This man definitely plays Neko Atsume and no force in this universe can convince me otherwise. It’s about cats and you really only play it in very short intervals through the day, which works with his schedule. It’s perfect for him. Moving on
With his busy schedule due to running a company and whatnot, there really isn’t a lot of time for him to sit down to play video games despite owning a couple of systems apparently. It might be days or weeks between play sessions. So casual games are more his thing
Okay so, hear me out. Animal Crossing New Leaf
You’re in charge of a village and what gets built where, gotta manage your finances with paying off your house and having new structures and businesses built, sometimes schedule meetings visits with the villagers, cat villagers
NOTHING BUT CAT VILLAGERS
Questions Tom Nook’s business strategy regarding the house
“Why have the house expanded before they pay for it? A customer could easily betray your trust that way by never paying you for the final expansion. Paying ahead of time as you do with the exterior customizations would be wiser.”
“Jumin it’s just a game… ;;;;;;”
Probably made Jaehee get a copy of the game to make some tasks easier
“Assistant Kang, you have perfect oranges in your village, yes?”
“Yes, though why are you asking me right now? Don’t you have a meeting in five minutes?”
“I’m passing the time, and Mitzy requested an orange.”
“Don’t you have regular oranges to give her?”
“Of course, but Mitzy deserves no less than a perfect orange.” plus he still needs her picture, and prefect fruit will help with that
-_-;;; “……I don’t think I can get one to you before the meeting, but I can have a full basket ready for you after you’re done.”
“That will do.”
Also, do not let this man play Minecraft
Remember, this is the guy who made fucking blueprints when he was told to draw a house when he was a little kid. He would definitely get carried away like that in Minecraft
Like in the tutorial when they tell you to make a house? Basically just a simple box with a door? pffft, nah. That won’t do
He would probably end up building the most elaborate cube-based house you could possibly imagine and leave you wondering how the fuck he had the free time to build that
“Firstly you need a nice foyer to leave a good first impression. A standard house should have at least two bedrooms, though three would be ideal. And a living room and a kitchen are both necessary, of course. I suppose a library or office is optional, but they make a great addition. Getting enough colored wool proved to be difficult, but adding some color with carpets keeps the house from looking bland and–”
“Jumin it’s just the tutorial! You just need a one room house with a door and a bed!”
“That’s not a house, though. That’s a shed with a bed.”
-facepalm-
might use it to help plan out layouts for new buildings
💛JAEHEE💛
Man, most of these guys really don’t have time for gaming, huh?
Jaehee probably has the least amount of free time for gaming tho. Poor Baehee barely has time to sleep :c
She’s honestly really not that into games tho, so this doesn’t bother her. There are much more productive things she can do in her spare time like get some sleep jfc let the woman get enough sleep for once plz!!
Though if Zen did do a voice in a game she would play it in a heartbeat, or look up a playthrough at the very least. Nowhere near the same as seeing him actually acting up on a stage of course, but surely he can do a great performance solely with his voice!
Like Jumin, casual games that you can put down for long periods of time would suit her best
Actually ends up liking Animal Crossing more than she thought she would or wants to admit
She loves how the villagers are always happy to see her and always rooting for her, and she absolutely adores Isabelle
Probably has a Brewster plush or figure somewhere in her cafe
While I don’t think she’d actually play them, I can imagine her being REALLY good at fighting games
Just takes her a quick look through those lengthy combo lists and she’s got that shit memorized, and with a few practice rounds she can kick your ass with perfect wins before you even know what hit you
But of course, she probably wouldn’t play them, so you don’t have to worry about that :)
❤️️707❤️️
Yay, someone with some time to game!
Actually no, that’s a lie, but he procrastinates on his work a lot, so he has game time
Anything that’s humorous or gives him a chance to be a jackass would be his shit
Sometimes you just need the stupid humor of a goat flying through the air in ragdoll mode to help you get through the day, y'know?
He also enjoys puzzle games to exercise his mind, and racing games for obvious reasons he can go fast without risking his babies’ safety lol
Okay so in Yoosung’s route, he mentions playing GTO (assumed to be a knockoff of GTA), which makes sense for him because cars and high jinks, but with that in mind you know what he’d really get a kick out of?
Saints Row, especially Saints Row IV, cuz that one has hacking elements, and you get superpowers, and you gotta save people and shit. Sounds great for the Defender of Justice, no? The comedy and great music selection is a bonus, really c:
As for being a jackass… Be cautious if you invite him to play Mario Party with you.
He will purposely aim for the Chance Time spaces just to watch everyone else freak out about it, and he will aim for stealing your stars and often succeeds
He’s also really fuckin’ good at Mario Kart. Do not challenge him unless you like being hit by blue shells and other such items
Also, Battleblock Theater. Great puzzle platformer, good humor, and in co-op mode, a great chance to be an ass!! Much to Yoosung’s dismay lol
“Seven, stop throwing me into the water!! And stop blowing me up! We won’t get the time bonus at this rate!”
“lolol who cares, seeing you get mad is worth it~”
A grumpy Yoosung later got revenge by shoving 707’s character into the water
they laugh about it later lol
💙V💙
Guys, this poor man can’t see well at all. Like, he can only see a little bit out of his left eye. That kinda makes video games a challenge for him
That being said…idk he probably liked Pokemon Snap when he could see
Okay seriously this time, imagining he can see well and his life isn’t shit. He’d be a big fan of games that are about exploration and have stunning views or a unique art style
He’d probably really like Okami, Unravel, and Journey
Ori and the Blind Forest! Get it? Cuz he’s.........into artistic games and that game is really fuckin’ pretty
and he’s bli--
Also Firewatch. That game is fucking gorgeous. He would take so many screenshots in that one plus there’s a camera feature in the game lol
Also imagine him and Jumin playing Animal Crossing together and tell me that’s not the cutest shit
It’s a cute and light-hearted game, which I feel like he’d be into, he can play it on his 3DS when travelling, and it’s something he could play with his best buddy~ I’m down for this
Oh shit sudden thought
Okay hear me out! In an attempt to try to get closer to Yoosung, V asks him to teach him how to play LOLOL. Yoo might be a little hesitant at first but eventually agrees to it and holy shit it actually goes well and yay they’re bonding!
And damn V does a great job as a support mage
Of course V can’t play much due to travelling for work, but they try to schedule play times around that and make it work out. And during his travels, if V comes across a location that reminds him of some scenery seen in the game, he sends a picture of it to Yoosung and can this be a thing? I want this to be a thing because I need more Yoosung and V fluff in my life okay sorry for the ramble MOVING ON
seriously tho he probably really liked Pokemon Snap as a kid
💔SAERAN💔
Look me in the eyes and tell me this guy doesn’t rage quit
Like Michael Jones Rage Quit levels of rage quit
That first one is definitely him and Seven
Otherwise he’s pretty much silent when playing
As for games he’d like, anything that’ll let him blow off some steam, like shooters or fighting games
Need a partner for CoD Zombies? Or need someone to co-op Resident Evil with? Well, he’s not much of a multiplayer sorta guy, but if you can convince him then you’re set cuz he’d be damn good at those!
And Multi-man Smash mode in Smash Bros is very therapeutic to him
Especially when his brother gets on his nerves
Which is often…
You can tell he’s really pissed off when he breaks out Mortal Kombat > ->;;;;;
Also, I can’t help but think that he’d be pretty good at the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games
As in “really fucking close to 100%-ing Through the Fire and the Flames on Expert mode in GH3” pretty good
Seriously his hacker hands are probably really fuckin’ fast I’m sure he could pull it off
Though when his bro sets up a “Family Game Night” and you know he would totally do that at some point or some sort of gaming get-together and sets up Rock Band, Saeran usually prefers to play the drums
holy shit drummer Saeran tho
Oh yes, thinking of gaming nights, if you thought Sev was a monster at Mario Kart, hoo boy, Saeran can be pretty ruthless himself
Except he usually saves all of his blue shells and other misery-inducing items for his bro
In a way he’d be your ally if you get stuck behind Seven
But when they need to team up, like for a 2v2 minigame in Mario Party, you are done
Those two working together make a lethal combination that you could never hope to defeat
I blame twin magic
💘VANDERWOOD💘️
So, hear me out. Card games
They probably play casual card games like Solitaire, Spider Solitaire, Hearts, etc on their phone to pass time
And they come across as a decent strategist to me, considering their job
And card games tend to focus very heavily on strategy
So card-based games like Shadowverse and (don’t laugh) Yu-Gi-Oh and such are probably up their alley
They’d also be really good tactical games like Disgaea
But for the most part they just favor those simple card games like Solitaire. They have too much to do to focus on other such games
Not that Seven hasn’t tried to drag them into gaming with him!
They only agreed to it when they thought Seven would get back to work after a quick game of Mario Kart or Smash Bros or something
Would lose on purpose to make the game go faster
Sev would know though and try to force them into another round
“This time with feeling!”
(;¬_¬) “…Alright, fine…..”
Another victory for 707
“Okay, you won again, now back to work.”
“Oh come on, one more! You looked like you were having fun that time! Sorta kinda!”
-Vanderwood pulls out taser-
;;;;;;; “Right, back to work! Understood!”
Was definitely having fun tho. Don’t tell Seven

Feel free to skip the hell out of this, it's just that Tumblr is blocked at my office and apparently I can't use the "keep reading" thing on the mobile version of the site in a browser and hell "keep reading" wouldn't have protected the app users from this over long shitpost anyway do WHAT THE FUCK AM I EVEN TRYING TO SAY
@ someone nice who attempted to contest my notion that "letting it all out" about one's vexations does nothing: I know that for some people, writing is a form of thinking out loud that helps the person give form to their worries and aids them in understanding and confronting them. Maybe this just isn't as useful for people who are overly habituated to this kind of exploratory writing. I kept diaries obsessively from pretty early in life to the time I was in my mid-20's or so. The vast majority of the content was definitely about depression and anxiety, usually in relation to events and disappointments that I was trying to work through. After twoish decades of this practice, it became clear that the only result was cementing my obsessions with the worst parts of my life. I found myself repeating the same stories and theories over and over again, trying to find novel ways of reiterating them so I could feel as if I were getting somewhere. Some of the writing had to do with things I could actually help: for instance, bad crushes or boyfriends I just needed to burn bridges with, or my unhealthy relationship with corny, cherry picked, wish-driven occultism and the unhealthy friends who encouraged that interest. However, I don't think that the writing helped me sever those ties; one day I just realized that I didn't get anything but pain and embarrassment from that stuff, and I had the ability to just cut it all out. If these revelations ever came up in my writing, it would be after the correct action was taken IRL, and the subject would probably be my obsession with how bitter and stupid I felt about my previous poor decisions, or some endless repetition of things I already know about how I finally did the right thing. It eventually reached the point where the idea of sitting down to write in whatever precious little book I had going just seemed unforgivably stupid, so I stopped. Obviously I sometimes write here, when I'm feeling bad. It scratches a passing itch, but that's pretty idiotic too. However, there's a shred of motivation there that at least SEEMS thoughtful and practical sometimes. It's a flagellatory act. It's usually like this: "Here's a list of all the things you failed at recently, either out of neglect, or preexisting incompetence that would have made it clear to a sensible person that you shouldn't have even tried. Now we're going to do a postmortem on all of it, in the service of like, maybe if we rub your nose in this huge pile of shit you left on the floor, then eventually you'll learn to stop taking a big shit in the middle of the floor." Unfortunately, I'm not smart enough to learn that lesson, to spot another bad idea or experience coming, and most of my problems stem from exactly that intellectual deficiency, which is something I have no control over. Also, in spite of public perceptions of me as this terminal mope, I'm actually really susceptible to optimism and self-improvement, so I'm extremely prone to trying new things, or working harder at old things, that are simply out of my range of abilities, so I'm constantly ruining my own day and the day of whoever has to clean up my mess. Too bad none of this awareness can help stop me from feeling absolutely terrible about my endless cycle of fuckups great and small, and there isn't really anything in my life at which I'm satisfactory enough to distract from "the crummy, frustrating part of my life", because is in reality it's just my whole life. The point being, I'll probably stop this form of expiatory/disciplinary/vent-writing too--especially since, in my characteristically epic stupidity, I started putting it on another blog WITH some film writing that a small handful of self-sacrificing loved ones actually reads, and it's too weird for me to keep forcing the personal writing on that "audience". I kept a super secret depression blog for a hot minute, which had no consideration for an audience at all, it was just these really brutalizing non-sequitor descriptions of extremely specific things that were going on in my personal life and the disgusting ways that I felt about them, with no tags or reblogs or anything social, and somehow some weepy teenage girl found it and reblogged one of these posts. I guess I was being naive, but I was astounded that anyone would read this like diary page with zero philosophizing and no romanticism or longing and no platitudes or lessons and really not a gasp of air between descriptions of people and events that only had to do with me personally, but this poor girl totally felt that it belonged on her blog between Evanescence lyrics and black and white gifs of people tragically making out. It's taken me a long time obviously, but that should probably teach me to never write down anything about anything I ever feel ever again. Barforama.

7 UI Choices That Damage UX
User experience is one of the most important aspects of modern web design. The Google Trends graph for ux design shows how much this field has grown in recent years.
Yet there are still so many websites that push certain design trends which seem like the antithesis of usability. Some are done by accident or negligence, others are done on purpose. The latter are called dark patterns and they’re typically used by marketers to meet some end goal.
But as designers it’s our job to push back and fight for a great user experience. The best way to do that is by shedding light on bad practices and encouraging better ones. So let’s dive into a few of these bad UX practices to see why they exist and how they might be solved.
1. Unwanted Modals
The general concept of a modal window is actually very clever. It lets developers add content over the page without using JavaScript to pop open a new tab.
But modal windows are not the problem. Unwanted modals are the problem and they always drag down the user experience.
I’d say there are three different types of “unwanted” modal popups:
Exit intents which open when the user’s mouse leaves the page body, usually hovering the browser tab;
Timed modals that open after a set amount of seconds;
Scroll modals that open after the user scrolls a certain distance down the page.
You can see an example of an exit intent modal on this MaxTraffic post using their own exit intent script.
As much as I’d like to chastise this practice I do understand this from a marketer’s standpoint: it works.
The question isn’t why exit intent/opt-in modals exist. The question is whether you think it’s worth adding an unwanted modal popup to your website.
Is it worth potentially annoying most of your users just for a higher conversion rate?
If you’re more interested in a great user experience then the answer is obvious. Especially with Google now penalizing sites that use annoying interstitials/modals without user interaction.
But these unwanted messages also give modals a bad name, which is tough because they serve a real purpose in UI design. These can be used wisely, like with modal signup fields or information-based modals triggered from a user’s mouse click.
Or they can be annoying marketing messages that just appear seemingly out of nowhere. And don’t get me started on modals that won’t close even when clicking the background.
I really can’t fault marketers for using these modals because they convert well. But they’re also ruining the user experience for everyone else on the web.
2. Guilt in Copywriting
I recognized this trend years ago but I couldn’t put it into words until I read this article by Katie Notopoulos. She uses plenty of great examples to show how guilt-based copywriting annoys users and increase signups.
This writing style appears in those annoying modals I just covered. But this writing can also appear in sidebar fields or in-content opt-in forms. One example from Good Housekeeping is just terrible (hover the browser tab to trigger).
The goal with this guilt-ridden copywriting is to make the user feel so bad that they second guess their choice to close the window. It usually follows a formula that forces the user to click a nonsensical statement that’s unrelated to closing the window.
For example, a modal might offer you a free ebook on web design. The subscribe button might be simple but the cancel button might read “No thanks, I like sucking at design”. There’s actually a whole Tumblr site devoted to this shaming copywriting.
This is another example of a technique that works from a marketer’s standpoint, but certainly holds little value from a UX standpoint.
3. Fullscreen Interstitials
It should go without saying that completely taking over the screen with an opt-in or squeeze offer is just plain obnoxious.
This trend is like the unwanted modal window on steroids. These interstitials take over the entire screen and block the page unless you close the window. And sometimes it’s almost impossible to close these windows!
Backlinko is a fantastic site for SEO tips, but horrible with the pushy marketing.
First time visitors are always greeted with the same fullscreen modal that takes over the entire page. The background uses a video of Google SERPS which is both confusing and ugly.
It places a very tiny X icon in the top right corner and the “no thanks” link is much smaller than the other text, not to mention harder to read. This thing is a usability nightmare on mobile and it’s just one example of a trend that really needs to go.
4. Slide-in Ads/offers
Sometimes you’ll be scrolling down a homepage and see a small box slide into view from the side. This might be a feedback box for user testing, or it might be social sharing links or even a discount/promotion.
I can deal with these every so often. If they stay out of the way and aren’t too obnoxious then, whatever.
But on sites like AccessPress you can find at least 2 different slide-in boxes on either side of the page, and sometimes even a 3rd!
This isn’t meant to shame AccessPress or any other sites in this list. I’m just using this as an example to show how poor UX trends can go too far.
If you have a client who wants this slide-in feature try to make it subtle. No ding noises, no flashing graphics, and preferably no wacky animations. If a user wants to learn more they’ll take the time to read it.
5. Custom Scrolling
Most trends in this post have been marketing-oriented because, as Gary V says, marketers ruin everything.
But custom scrolling can’t be blamed on anyone. It’s just a trend that’s been around for far too long and feels like a remnant of an older web. Nowadays browsers like Chrome have their own custom scroll features that users can enable/disable on a whim.
But websites like Click and Grow still have these annoying JS-based scroll features that turn navigating the site into a chore.
Usually these custom scroll animations have one of two effects. Either the scroll goes too fast beyond where you wanted to rest the page, or it goes too slow and you have to whip your mouse wheel just to move. Why would any designer think these two options are better than the default?
Tied into custom scrolling is a newer trend I’ve seen on single page layouts. They have fullscreen page “sections” where your scroll wheel only moves down one section at a time. Gladly has this trend on their homepage.
My problem here is the same with fixed scrolling. It takes power away from the user.
The Gladly section animations take way too long to complete. The Internet moves fast and Internet users always want it a little faster. So any type of custom scrolling that ultimately slows down the experience is just bad UX.
6. Nav Menus Without Padding
This is a tough trend to explain but you know it when you see it.
Every site has a navigation menu and most links have padding around them. But sometimes the padding isn’t clickable, so to navigate you need to click on the exact block area of the text itself. This drives me crazy!
It takes maybe 30 seconds to move CSS padding from a link’s container element to the link itself. The navigation menu looks the same, but now users can click the link and the space around the link. So much easier!
Take a look at Tilde’s navigation for a live example.
The craziest thing about their site is that their mobile responsive navigation actually does have clickable padding. Only their desktop nav is plagued by the text-only click area.
On the flip side you’ll find many sites that understand the importance of this very subtle yet crucial detail. One example is Think With Google where you can actually see the full link size while hovering:
Just keep this in mind going forward because it’s a very simple alteration that can have a huge impact on usability.
7. Paginated Listicles
Last but not least I’m poking a bit of fun at blogs that design their content into one-item-per-page listicles.
I cannot imagine that any person enjoys constantly clicking the “next” button to read through a clickbait post. You’ll find tons of these on many different websites and none of them consider the user’s experience.
This trend is mostly about pageviews and ad revenue more than anything else. And while it’s not really in the designer’s control to fix this, it does relate to the user experience and webmasters/designers should do all they can to avoid these multi-paged articles.
I can only imagine how many other trends are out there annoying users on a daily basis. But I hope by sharing these ideas more designers will work towards eliminating these dark trends and reducing their presence on the web.
