Edward II (one of the more shambolic kings of England) was a fourth son who became heir to the throne only after the deaths of his older brothers. Had the brother immediately before him in the line of succession had better luck (he died of an illness aged only 10, when Edward was a baby), England would have had a King Alphonso.

#just you think about that #it's like how they would have had a second King Arthur if Henry VIII's older brother had outlived their father #(perhaps for the best as there is no way to live up to the title and name King Arthur)#(then again maybe I'm being unfair)#(we obviously don't know what he might have done had he had the chance)#(perhaps he would have been one of those rare sequels that are even better than an already impressive original)#(a veritable Toy Story 2 of a king)#(he would obviously need a significant amount of magical and chivalric help to pull it off)#anyway the moral of it all is it's better to be Toy Story 2 than Edward II
