#(disclaimer: I do not agree with the idea of skinning the Eeveelutions as a punishment for poorly-optimised stats)

I saw a commenter on a YouTube poll who said the only thing Flareon (my favourite Eeveelution who was also my favourite Pokémon overall in gens 7 and 8) is getting skinned for its fur. They cited stats as a reason to hate it including HP and Defense but I just checked Bulbapedia and…
…you want to take the piss out of Flareon’s HP and Defense stats for making it weak then you’re gonna have to take the piss out of Jolteon and Espeon as well because they’ve got the same HP and Defense stats (65 and 60 respectively) but also their Special Defense stats (95 for both of them) are actually worse than Flareon’s Special Defense (110). I get that part of the problem was the poor choice of specialising in physical attack over special attack (which is a problem Entei and Gouging Fire also have to some extent) but that seems to just be a feature of at least earlier Fire-types in trios. I wouldn’t be surprised if at least one starter trio has that problem with the Fire-type too. Anyway, anyone want a blanket made of electrically-charges quills or psychic gemstones?
#I mean if a stat of 60 is worth skinning a Pokémon over then I think all the Eeveelutions should be skinned#Leafeon could get out of it due to it being assigned to its other attack stat but even then I’m sure it has a wide range of special attacks#also Umbreon but both of its offensive stats are shit so that guy’s not dealing a lot of damage no matter what it tries#(disclaimer: I do not agree with the idea of skinning the Eeveelutions as a punishment for poorly-optimised stats)#I’ll be honest I thought Leafeon was a special fighter#Pokémon#flareon#jolteon#espeon#also Flareon gets Fire Fang via level up so it’s not like a recoil move it struggles to survive is its only option for optimised STAB#and 95 is a pretty decent Special Attack stat for a Pokémon that isn’t meant to be used in competitive probably
