Wasting Your Time ch. 5
âWhâ what?â Tommy choked out, his voice hoarse from the lack of use all day.
The man rolled his eyes, as if he didnât just ask a completely impolite question. âI said, do you have any booze?â
Tommy sat still. He reached into his jacket pocket, his hand finding only a plastic pen. Could he stab this man with a plastic pen?
Tommy pulled said piece of plastic out, visibly holding it up. âI have a pen.â Something about the bemused look on the man's face made Tommy click it, and again, repeatedly.
click click click click click click click clickâ
...
or; Tommy planned on dying. He meets Wilbur instead.
first chapter here and crossposted here
Tommy had made sure he had tied his shoelaces, this time.
Tommy had the time to make sure that his shoelaces were tied, because he wasnât in a rush to get to the station compared to last week. The thought caused ghost pains to flare up in his knee, but he knew it had stopped aching days ago. The scrapes in his hands faded with them.
Not quick enough though, because Sam had noticed. He only noticed when no was pulling at the thread in his jacket, trying to explain why he wanted to change his major.
â Iâ I donât think I like architecture,â Tommy admitted, his voice tight.
Sam was tired; Tommy could see it in the way his eyes drooped. Tommy felt bad, keeping him up. Sam needed his rest. He had an early shift i. This could wait, Tommy decided. He wouldnât bother Sam with his nonsense, not tonight. That wasnât fair of Tommy.
âSorâsorry,â Tommy said, pushing his chair back. âYou can go to bed, Iâllââ
Tommy nearly jumped out of his skin at Sam grabbing his wrist, quickly letting go at Tommyâs nervous yelpâSorry,â Sam quickly apologized. Tommy avoided his eyes. âWhat happened to your hands?â
Tommy's eyes fell down to his palmsâ he didnât think Sam would have noticed. âI fell,â Tommy mumbled, sitting back in his seat at the unsteady kitchen table.
âYou donât like architecture?â Sam asked, Tommy nodding vigorously. Not liking it was a severe understatement. Tommy would say that he was miserableâ miserable enough to go to the tube station once a week in the middle of the night to talk with a man he would argue knew more about him than Sam.
Tommy wouldnât tell him that though. He wouldn't tell him about Wilbur.
âI wantâ I want to change it,â Tommy said finally. âwe donât have to right now of course,â Tommy added. âI donât want to stress you out or, orââ
âTommy,â Sam stopped him. His voice was incredibly soft. âItâs fine.â
Tommy was now in the process of switching from architecture to film and production; if Sam didnât like it, he didnât show it. He was the utmost supportive, frustratingly so to Tommy. Tommy had expected to be yelled at, to be told off.
He almost wanted to be told off, because that would mean that he was right, and he would have felt less guilty for waiting this long and to assume Sam would pressure him into continuing something he had no passion for.
The robotic voice of the intercom snapped Tommy out of his mind, announcing the incoming train. He wasnât alone on the platform this time. There was a woman who stood several meters away. Tommy had politely nodded at her when he arrived. She nodded in response.
When it arrived, the metallic doors slid open, and Tommy booked it to the back. There was no one, no man sitting back here this time. Just Tommy, and eventually Wilbur. The woman sat in the middle, the back of her head facing him.
Tommy scrolled through his phoneâ he wanted to check if Tubbo or Ranboo had texted him yet. They had stopped asking him to get on-call during the night on Tuesday, used to being turned down. Only Tubbo had asked him what he had gotten up to when Tommy was going to see Wilbur. Tommy, fortunately, did not have to come up with an excuse because Ranboo scolded him for prying.
Tommy allowed himself to wonder if Wilburâs friends had wondered what he was doing; though that burned out because from the way the man talked it didnât sound like he had any friends.
He had a brother, Tommy knew that. He had some sort of past with Jack, which got him banned from his shop. Tommy recalled him briefly describing a sweater buddy and his gambling buddy, but it didnât sound like either of them were in his life.
Tommy was pretty sure he hadnât even given him their names. That was⌠startling, Tommy realized. Just how little Tommy actually knew about Wilbur. It was even more startling that Tommy wasnât sure if he wanted to know more, either. Wilbur existed out of their friendship, out of the hours in the past month they had spent togetherâ the image was difficult to imagine.
But that was ridiculous because Wilbur existed and he had a life outside of Tommy; it was selfish to think otherwise.
âYou are thinking too hard,â Like a knife through butter, Wilburâs voice cut through Tommyâs thoughts. Tommyâs head shot up, pocketing his phone. Tommy scooted over a bit so Wilbur would have more room.
They had stopped. With a quick scan, Tommy can guess that Wilbur got on alone. The woman was still there. âHow could you tell?â
Wilbur pointed at his forehead. âI can see a vein.â Tommy scoffed, slapping the manâs hand away as Wilbur laughed. âHow did it go with Sam?â Wilbur asked in between giggles.
âGot a new major!â Tommy beamed, his smile wide. âBye-bye architect. Sam took it better than expected.â
âThat is good!â Wilbur celebrated. âDo you know when you start your new classes?â
âNo,â Tommy shook his head. âWe are still in the process of switching. Itâs dropped now though.â
Wilbur frowned, his eyebrows turning down in thought. âWhy did it look like you were about to pop a vein then?â
Oh , Tommy thinks. He could lieâ Wilbur would catch it. Wilbur would know. Wilbur would push.
âI was thinking about you, honestly,â Tommy confessed.
They stopped. A trio of young adults got on.
âOh,â
âYeah.â
âWhy?â
Tommy sighed. âI was just thinkingââ
âI could tell.â Wilbur hummed.
âFuck offâ I was just thinkingâŚâ Tommy trailed. âI hardly know anything about you, yeah? You know my friendâs names and about Sam and what Iâm studying in college and IâŚâ Tommy stopped, realizing that he was rambling. âSorry.â âYou should stop doing that,â Wilbur said, Tommy furrowing his eyebrows in confusion.
âStop what?â
âApologizing. You do it a lot. You do not owe everyone an apology for speaking, Tommy.â Wilbur explained.
Tommy was slack-jawed. He wouldnât say that he had a problem . âItâs courtesy.â
âNothing about you is courteous.â
âYou are avoiding telling me about yourself, Wilbur. You canât get out of this by trying to psychoanalyze me.â Tommy huffed. âNo, no! Iâm dancing through your mind games this time, big dubs. Iâm going to be the one doing the mind gaming.â
âThe mind gaming?â
Tommy nodded. âYou are going to be so mind gamed.â
âOkay,â Wilbur laughed. âMind game me.â
âWhatâs your brother's name?â
âTechno,â Wilbur answered simply.
Tommy scoffed. âThere is no way thatâs his name. Whatâs his real name?â
âTechnoblade.â
âThatâs even worse.â Tommy groaned. Wilbur was bullshitting him. He had to be. âYouâre lying to me.â
âI would not lie to you,â Wilbur stated. Tommyâs lips turned down in a frown.
âYou wouldnât?â âNever.â They stopped. The woman got off.
âWhatâs he like?â Wilbur was silent, his forehead creasing. âA real nerd. He is really deep into mythology, and that type of stuff. I played guitar, he did violin. I tried to get into parties, Techno was worried about his fuckingâ fencing finals.â Wilbur gestures.
âHe sounds cool,â Tommy said. Wilbur made a noise that sounded of exasperation.
âHe is a hardass.â
A shocked laugh escaped Tommyâs mouth, dissolving into a fake cover-up cough. âIs it because his name is Technoblade?â Tommy wasnât looking at Wilbur, but he could feel the manâs eyes roll. âAre you not going to let that go?â âAh big man, Iâm never letting that go. Youâre related to someone called Technoblade.â Tommy teased, knowing that he was pushing it, leering at him. He knew Wilbur could snap at him in annoyance and shut down his next questionâ Tommy had faith that he wouldnât though.
âHe is my twin actually.â
Tommy choked. âThereâs more than one of you?â
âNo, no,â Wilbur interjected. âThere is just one of me, I am afraid.â
âUnfortunately.â Tommy agreed, mockery lacing his voice. âDo you like him?â
âCourse?â Wilbur creased his brows. âJust because we are different does not mean we do not love each other.â
They stopped. The group got offâ two men took their place.
Tommy thought of Sam, and quickly shut that thought out. He slammed the door and swallowed the key; this wasnât about Tommy, this wasnât about Sam.
âAnd he likes you?â
âHe does.â Wilbur mused. âI think the word you are looking for is love , Tommy.â
Tommy groaned in disgust. âDonât say it.â He whined.
â Love, love, love ââ Wilbur taunted in a sing-song voice that made Tommy want to get off at the next stop.
âStopâ stop that!â Tommy hissed. âAnd you call me a child!â Wilbur made an amused sound. âYou are a child.â âWhy do you talk like that?â Tommy pressed, now agitated.
âLike what?â Wilburâs eyes blew open.
âLikeâ that. You are . Say youâre.â
Wilburs face grew into a cheeky grin, and Tommy wanted to punch him. â Youâre a child.
âI...Iâ and youâre a fucking old man!â
âI am twenty-four!â Wilbur cried.
âThatâs ancient,â Tommy replied. âthatâs at least two decades.â
âTwo decadesââ Wilbur repeated, breaking off into a laugh. The train stopped and Wilbur got up, still shaking with laughter. âIt wasnât that funny,â Tommy commented, trailing the man out of the sliding metal doors.
âI thought it was hilarious.â
âAre you making fun of me?â
âAbsolutely not,â Wilbur denied. âYou should do standup.â
They passed a woman on the stairs on their way out; Tommy ignoring the disgusted look she passed in his direction.
âDo people just naturally dislike you?â Tommy asked, his mind drifting back to the faceless strangers that had the misfortune of sharing the tube with Tommy and Wilbur. âI think they are looking at you,â Wilbur speculated.
âWha... ? â Tommy trailed. â Pft , nah. People love me. Especially women you know.â
âSomehow I doubt that.â
Tommy blew air out of his nose in frustration. They were approaching the flickering Jack of All Trades sign. âIâm going to prove you wrongâ so wrong. Youâre gonna beg for my forgiveness when you see all the numbers Iâm drowning in.â
Wilbur looked at the flickering sign. The A in Jack had gone completely out. âI hope you understand that Manifold doesnât count.â
Tommy didnât dignify Wilbur with a response, entering the shop instead. The bell dinged over his head.
Tommy blinked.
There was a woman at the counter.
Why does this keep happening to him?
Tommy knew that realistically, he couldnât be Jackâs only customer. Thatâs not how you keep a business open; Tommy understood that. Tommy was justâ Tommy had gone in here every Tuesday night, between eleven pm and twelve am, and it was empty besides himself and Jack.
âHeya Tommy!â Jack peaked over the woman, waving him over. âI was just wonderinâ when youâd show up. Telling Niki about ya.â
Oh, so this was just Jackâs friend. Thank god. Tommy couldnât stop himself from smiling. Jack was waiting for him. âI thought you had another customer. Was worried I had competition.â Tommy reached into the bowl, scanning the pins.
Jack looked at the pink-haired woman, who had been dubbed Niki. âHeâs joking. I get plenty of customers.â
âI believe you, Jack.â Tommy caught her eyes, pulling out a pin with a music disc printed on it. The upturn of the corner of her mouth and her little head shake told Tommy otherwise
âI donât,â Tommy deadpanned, placing the pin and the pounds on the counter. âMe and my pins keep this place alive, you know.â
âThat is entirely untruthful.â
Tommy hummed. âYouâre in denial. Itâs the first stage of grief. Itâs okay, Jack. Weâre here for you.â Tommy looked at Niki. âWell, she is. I got a train to catch and a friend to annoy. See you next week!â
âNice meeting you Tommy!â Niki said, Tommy giving her a small wave before exiting the shop.
Tommy immediately showed Wilbur the pin. âA vinyl,â Wilbur said with a hint of amusement.
Tommy scowled. âMusic disc.â
âIt is a vinyl.â
âWrong, actually,â Tommy corrected, securing the pin into his jacket. âitâs a music disc.â
âIt appears we are at a standoff,â Wilbur fiddled with his glasses, starting the walk back to the station.
âNo, you are in a standoff with yourself. I am right.â Tommy insisted.
âYou are definitely in a mood tonight,â Wilbur pointed, and Wilburâs tone was light and joking and of course he didnât mean anything bad by it butâ the comment made Tommyâs feet stick to the ground. Was he?
Wilbur mustâve realized he wasnât being followed, because moments later he turned to see Tommyâs state of immobility.
âThat isnât a bad thing,â Wilbur was quick to comfort.
Although his expression and voice were genuine, Tommy still faltered. Whatever faux confidence he had gained was gone now. The persona was gone, leaving just⌠him . He thought Wilbur was enjoying the bit. âI⌠I could stop if itâs annoying?â
Wilburâs expression was soft. âDo not worry about it.â He said. âYou having fun is not annoying,â Wilbur reassured. Tommy didnât reply. He forced his feet to move instead, so he could keep up with Wilbur. âI am sorry,â Wilbur added.
Tommy allowed himself to slip back in. He was fine. âLooks like youâre the one apologizing now, big man.â
âOh man, you got me there.â
âA straight-up hypocrite you are.â Tommy chimed. âAre you above your own morals, Wilbur?â
âI am, just a bit.â
âElaborate on that?â âNo, I do not think I will.â
âFuck you.â
When they reached the station, Tommy realized they had narrowly avoided missing the train. Tommy let out several curses as the metal doors nearly shut on him. It wouldnât have been the end of the world if they had missed it; Tommy and Wilbur would have had to wait fifteen minutes for the next one. It would have just been a disturbance in routine. Tommy hated those.
Tommy had blamed his near-breakdown for their tardiness, but alsoâ
âDid you know Jack has friends ?â Tommy asked, sliding into his window seat. The train was more occupied than normal, so he kept his voice above a whisper for an attempt at politeness. There were only two other people in the back with them, a few seats ahead of Tommy and Wilburâs.
âWas someone else in there?â Wilbur asked, Tommy nodding.
âI was absolutely scandalized, Will.â
Wilbur hummed in amusement. âDid you catch their name?â
âOhâ yeah . Uh. Niki.â
Wilbur was silent for a moment, and panic fluttered through Tommyâs chest, fearful that he might have brought up a possible bad memory, or one of the many someones Wilbur had pissed off that were just not in his life anymore,
Instead, Wilbur just smiled. âI know her,â
âDid you piss her off too?â Wilbur shook his head.
âShe still visits me sometimes; you know Niki always brings the best flowers.â Wilbur thought. âSometimes Jack comes with her, not in a bit though.â
âWhaâ?â Tommy wondered. âI thought Jack hated you?â
âWhere did you get that from?â
âYouâre banned from his shop?â âUnrelated reasons,â Wilbur waved off.
Tommy squeezed the bridge of his nose. âJesus fucking christ,â Tommy groaned. âyou are a true enigma.â
They stopped; two women and a man got off.
âI know,â Wilbur says with a hint of pride.
âMememememeââ Tommy mocked. âAm I the only one you terrorize?â âNah. You are not the only one,â Wilbur said. âTechno is my neighbor. I terrorize him too.
Tommy massaged his temple. He didnât know if Wilbur acting as he does with Tommy with others was concerning or reassuring. It certainly wasnât jealousy that he was trying to massage out of his head. No, that would be ridiculous, Tommy decided. Wilbur had a brother. Wilbur had a family. Wilbur had other friends. Tommy was being ridiculous.
âI think Iâm done mind gaming,â Tommy yawned.
âAre you?â
âMm-hm.â Tommy hummed. âItâs exhausting. I donât get how you can do it so easily.â âPractice,â Wilbur mused. âand I do not get tired.â
âTubboâs like that,â Tommy compares. Tubbo had dropped school completely at the beginning of September; his sleeping schedule suffered as a direct result. Tubbo would end up staying up for three days and proceeding to crash for thirty-seven hours.
They stopped, no one had left. But two men had entered, grabbing seats near the midsection.
âHow is it going with them?â It took a moment for Tommy to realize just what Wilbur was asking Tommy. The troubles he had with Tubbo and Ranboo had been in the back of his mind.
Tommy had told them about dropping architecture before Sam, the night before Tommy had gone to him. Voiced his complaints and worries to them in a quiet voice in a discord call. Tubbo suggested being upfront and blunt about it, rip off the bandaid , Tubbo would say. Ranboo was Tubboâs opposite, suggesting easing Sam into it.
âWeâreâ weâre good?â Tommy said. âThey helped me, uh,â He pulled at the thread on his sleeve. âHelped me figure out how to approach Sam.â
A month ago, he wouldnât have even bothered to go to them. Surely, they had better things to do together than listen to him complain .
A month ago, Tommy wouldnât have bothered trying to switch. Sam was too busy, Sam was too good, and Tommy wouldâveâ
Tommy would haveâ
He didnât, because of a now-forgotten deal with the man sitting next to him.
âYou are thinking again,â Wilbur pointed out.
They stoppedâ Tommy sadly realized that the next one was Wilburâs.
âI wish you would stop doing that,â Tommy whined, rolling his neck. âI know when Iâm thinking, you donât have to point it out.â
âWhat was it this time?â
âYou,â Tommy admitted. âagain.â
Wilburâs expression was laced with amusement, his eyebrows raised above the circular glasses. âI am right here, you know.â A sigh climbed out of Tommyâs throat. âI know,â Tommy stressed. âI know that, obviously, you dickhead.â He grumbled.
âYou want to share with the class then?â Wilbur joked, vaguely gesturing to the other passengers.
Tommy swallowed, tugging lightly at the thread. âI was thinking⌠I donât know, man. About Sam, and Tubbo and Ranboo, and that shit andâŚâ Tommy trailed. Wilbur was silent, nodding at Tommy to continue. Tommy mentally thanked him for the lack of smart remarks. âI wouldnât have been able to talk to themâ or, or Sam . I would have justâŚâ
Tommy snapped his fingers. What was it? What was it? What was itâ
Wilbur caught his stumbling. âDied?â
Tommy nodded, his throat tight. âYeahâ that. And I didnât, yeah? I met you instead.â
âYou are not alive just because of me, Tommy,â Wilbur said softly, and Tommy breathed in relief because Wilbur understood , he understood Tommy.
âBut I am .â Tommy pressed desperately. âYou⌠youââ
âI just gave you directions,â Wilbur interjected. âYou are the one who mapped it out. You deserve that credit.â
Tommy shook his head in disagreement. âI couldâve gotten on another train, or you could have sat down somewhere else, andâŚâ
âI think we still would have met,â Wilbur thought, and Tommyâs eyes moves from his palms to Wilburâs face.
âYou do?â
Wilbur hummed. âI do. Somehow, someway, in one way or another, we would have.â
Wilburâs stop was coming up, the train was slowing. Tommy couldnât help the frown that had formed on his face, because this conversation was far from over. Tommy hadnât even built up to his thank you .
The train stopped, and Tommy gripped the plastic seat in front of him so tightly to keep himself from standing up and following Wilbur out.
âSee you next week?â Tommy said instead. His knuckles were turning white.
âOf course,â Wilbur promised. âRemember what I said, okay?â Wilbur reminded.
âYeah, yeah,â Tommy grumbled. âI think youâre wrong.â âI am never wrong,â Wilbur called confidently, and Wilbur was gone.
Tommy didnât even get to say thank you , he thought bitterly. He would next week, whether Wilbur would accept it or not.
It was luck that Tommy had met him, not fate.
If Tommy had gotten on an earlier train, or a later one for that matter, he wouldâve missed Wilbur. Tommy can picture Wilbur stumbling into the back of the near-empty train, and instead of greeting Tommy, he would sit down across from an empty seat.
Or maybe, Wilbur would go towards the front and start up a conversation with another stranger.
âYou got any of that shit flavored candy?â Wilbur would ask the elder woman with the ruby-colored purse, because she had gotten on alone.
And Tommy would sit, alone. Working himself up to jumping. He wouldnât have gotten off with Wilbur to go to Jackâs shop. Tommyâs jacket would be void of any pins, left blank.
Tommy ran his hands over the pins, rubbing his finger against the cool plastic of the new disc pin.
Wilbur started off as a distraction, someone who would merely delay the inevitable. A buffer. Then, he was a bet, a deal, testing to see who was correct and who was wrong. Tommy remembered the desperate feeling, wanting to prove to the smug bastard who looked like he knew everything that he could be wrong.
After that, he was justâ Wilbur was just Tommyâs friend . He wasnât a stranger or a delay, or a deal anymore.
Tommy had a million words and more on his tongue for Wilbur, but those will wait for now.

Reddit and Forget it!
This Weekâs Media Format
Had this exercise never took place, I probably never would have gone on to the Reddit site. Â Although I had never been on Facebook or Twitter before the last couple of weeks, there was a certain comfort in my âswitch upâ of at least knowing what they were and how they functioned within our society. Â For this weekâs âswitch upâ I embarked on a much further voyage away from my media format norms by choosing to select Reddit. Â The primary difference is that I had no idea what Reddit is, does, or where it came from. Â For all I knew it could have been a shopping site, blog, or even an online pet store/forum for true pet lovers (Reddit vs Rabbit? Ok, bad joke!). Â Anyhow, onward to the adventure. Â In terms of media consumption habits, with the advent of my two previous modules, Iâm now engaged on Facebook and Twitter, along with the aforementioned LinkedIn, Google, and so forth. Â
The Reddit Community and Format
Interestingly, Reddit is dubbed the âfront page of the Internetâ.  Thatâs a bit of a stretch, but ok, still keeping an open mindâŚFirst blush, the ability to vote items up and down was interesting enough.  Clearly, the backbone of Reddit is the sharing. Without the shares, links, photos, stories, and other info, the site could collapse, quickly losing any type of identity.  Whereas other sites focusing connecting people to people, Reddit could be argued to connect people with concepts or cultural trends.  To get involved, people post âthingsâ they find interesting/cool/horrible/strange, and âupvoteâ and âdownvoteâ various posts. The community itself and users are very engaged in âtheirâ opinion.  This voting of posts up and down gives the user the empowerment of some degree of control on what is deemed popular in terms of collective culture.  This is really what can make the user âtickâ, as they continue to develop their Reddit involvement.
Reddit is not exactly welcoming. Redditâs front page looks only antiquated but perhaps still retains its allure with the user group.  Certain aspects, such as the blog, were hard to follow. The logo itself is far from crisp in today;s terms. Almost looks âNintendoâ like...
Looking at the community, it could fit with any group, depending upon the topic interest, but the primary group appears to be 40 and under, more specific to those 30 and under. The media format was far reaching and broad. Â Like Facebook and Twitter, some of this would be the interest feed, but nonetheless, Reddit has its own uniqueness. Â The size and scale of Reddit validates its popularity and influence. Â In the over ten years of its existence, it has grown to over 250 million users, even attracting Presidential voices such as Barrack Obama. Â Currently the site is the 4thmost popular in the country, with 725 million comments, and almost 9 million authors. Â Over half that traffic is from the United States and within that 70% are male, 60% of the total group are 18-29 although 33% are 30-49, lending to the belief that the platform is extremely viable for young and middle-aged adults. About 40% of the user population accesses it from the app, and users spend about 15 minutes a session. Â Lastly, Reddit seems extremely popular for a pop culture standpoint. Â For example, in 2017, 1/3 searches began with âGame of Thrones Redditâ. Â The relationships appear rooted in cultural trending, popularity, and âbuzzâ.
It seemed to have some interesting components and groups to review, but really couldnât see mom subscribing to âEarth Pornâ no matter how well intended it may be. From my estimation and because of further posts similar to the below, it does seem to validate indexing to those under 40.
Reddit was from all appearances different but more away from the mainstay, take for instance the below:
The media employs a variety of formats with images, texts, and videos, but the screen itself is generic in nature, compared to a Facebook or Twitter. Â Interesting is the Reddit specific language such as âOP, TIL, IAmA, and AMAâ. The AMA is known as âAsk me Anythingâ a concept popularized by Reddit and the previously mentioned President Obama. Â Comparing them side by side, the evident and user ease on Facebook is astounding. Having no knowledge of either, one could make an argument that Reddit was an early version of Facebook that evolved into something a little less crude.
Brands and Organizations
There were brands and organizations that appeared throughout the media platform. Â The ads were embedded into the line items themselves. Apparently, Jeff Goldblum is a believer, as he was on the home page in a variety of places. Â Having no idea what it was and not looking too hard, I clicked to connect to a movie trailer.
The community itself varied by category and could include new, hot, controversial, top, or rising. What each of those mean and how any algorithm is derived to classify one from the other was something I could not deduce. Â Certainly, something controversial could be âhotâ or âtopâ. Â All things considered, Jeff Goldblum is included though. Â No matter where your Reddit travels take you, be prepared for Jeff to be with you every step of the way! Ads themselves can be in banner ads or promoted links.
From a product and service standpoint, there is a definitive benefit to using Reddit if young and middle-aged populations if this is within a companyâs target market. Â Reddit users spend a thorough amount of time on the site which would lend to the belief that if a message is clear within a posting, it could be received at a high rate by the target demographic. Â
With Redditâs numerous conversation-based threads, advertisers can post an ad specific to a topic that relates to their product. Â This could have distinct advantages but may also be tedious to do, given the voting nature of the site. Â Furthermore, Reddit seems a lot more uncensored than other sites. Â Advertising could be taken negatively and attacked by a mutiny of users boiling on an advertisement. Â The Goldblum ads that kept popping up annoyed me for instance. One could see where that could yield a backlash from some Reddit loyalists. Whereas individuals are posting their thoughts and opinions, ads would look to piggyback on to their specific trends and convey that to building their brand message in unison with it. A conversational discussion of a brand or service seems like a far safer reach to an audience in the under 40 demographic that builds upon discussion of a concept and how a brand relates to it, as opposed to a flat out advertising campaign. Â
Final Observations
Overall, it is difficult to find the appeal of Reddit. It is tough to follow and many of the posts donât provide much value, in any sense.  For instance, one of the top posts was someoneâs garden.  One would think that a garden making the top mark would be impressive and unique.  However, nothing much to see.  I wouldnât waste the energy to snip and show it.  Another included a picture of a dog who didnât get a piece of a burger making a face. Having two interesting dogs, who certainly make interesting leers, I get it and âha haâ.  That said, to use time and energy to scroll through these half nonsensical posts begs the question of too many people, having way too much free time on their hands!  Lastly. some of the posts are egregious and curse laden; not sure if in any circumstance I would want to expose a brand to a cultural attack or inadvertently link to something offensive. To illustrate that point, and to a perfect example is my friend Jeff Goldblum. In his âAsk Me Anythingâ, it doesnât take much of a scroll at all to begin the sideways comments directed at the actor and movie. Again, if Reddit is an avenue for the demographic-target audience match, by all means, proceed with caution....

Some thoughts on the Facebook Killer and how we reacted to it.
Nothing good stems from Facebook live. The only time I remember it exists, someone is getting murdered on it. Sometimes I wish I could see the meetings that hatch these ideas. Does every social networking company gather around solely to ask each other how to (slightly) repackage what the other one is doing? Are Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram all under an umbrella, in some clandestine cabal? Let me know if I am on to something. Apparently, it took Facebook two hours and 14 minutes to take down the video of Robert Godwin Sr.âs murder. Mark Zuckerberg, likely reflecting on what a shitty idea Facebook Live is, said theyâve âgot a lot of work to do.â Well, Mark, Iâd suggest faster moderators. More importantly, however, a watchlist for whoever shares an article from Thought Catalog. The cesspool that resides in any and all Facebook comment sections, though? Beyond repair.
A little background on Sundayâs events. The 45 hour manhunt started with Steve Stephens going on Facebook live and literally killing somebody for the world to see. The victim, Robert Godwin Sr., 78, was a stranger. Stephens forced him to say his ex girlfriendâs name (Joy Lane) before shooting him. I havenât seen the clip and donât plan on it. However, I unknowingly heard the audio when 93x played it on Monday morning as part of their news segment. I would ask who was responsible for letting a snuff film play on the airwaves, but then someone would say 93x and Iâd believe them. In a nutshell, he lost it over some relationship troubles and decided to take it out on the world. Almost two days later, Stephens was caught at McDonalds when he was waiting for some nuggets and fries, per the request of the quick thinking employee. This was the only sensible thing he did. If Iâve mustered up the lack of shame to order McDonalds, I will wait until the fries are ready, even if Iâm on the run. All jokes aside, the idea of an elderly man being killed in cold blood on Easter shakes people up, understandably. In this instance, though, it shook them up enough to strip themselves of empathy and politicize it immediately. Good work.
The state of discourse is warped. Given the short shelf life for stories, stormy political climate, and ideologies weaponized ad nauseum, a productive approach to the conversation is, at best, uncommon. If youâre a rational person, this isolated, domestic incident is better left apolitical in its early stages. Even if your argument holds weight, youâre just going to piss people off. During the last election cycle, however, Iâve noticed the Internet throwing their two cents in all at once, hoping to be the first with a take. Some immediately shoehorn an agenda, which is obviously the tasteful option. Others, become forensic detectives and blood spatter analysts overnight. Ever heard of a crisis actor? A stranger with an Android screenshot wants to tell you about it. All of this, of course, under the guise of empathy for Godwin Sr. and his family - or in their words, âthat old man that died on Facebook Live or whatever.â
If youâve spent any time on Twitter lately, social justice is as present as ever. Saying anything deemed âproblematicâ will make you go viral in the worst way. You donât want those problems. Frankly, they arenât out of line most of the time. Iâll always encourage mobilizing against racism and careless language. A few of the younger users tend to virtue signal and leave it at that, but whatever. When I was 17, I liked Ron Paul. Theyâre far better off than I was then. But, weâre all at risk of getting lost in the sauce.
Within an hour of the story breaking, there were tweets pinning the Cleveland shootings on complex things like hypermasculinity. For the record, itâs no secret that patriarchy played a role here. Men will be destructive, selfish and crazy and still manage to do the mental gymnastics to blame a woman. Itâs a tried and true trope. However, âsnappingâ over a woman versus commanding a stranger to recite their name before ending their life is a little different. Call me crazy, but I think Steve had some screws loose.
Twitter user GeauxGabby, dubbed âThe Most Annoying Person On Twitterâ by the good people at Bossip, had this to say:
â14 people were just murdered because this man is hurt over his girl. THAT IS HYPERMASCULINITY.â
This was part of a rant about men being murderers. Iâll never attempt to invalidate a woman speaking up about something like that, but it took a strange turn when she got specific. Suddenly, she started to focus solely on black men. I didnât know who she was so I decided to do my Googles. In a few articles, GeauxGabby is named as a âmemberâ of Black Twitter, although I donât think she is warmly embraced as such. Her bio is adorned with a #BlackLivesMatter hashtag, as well as a reminder that a retweet does not mean an endorsement. The latter may come as a relief to many.
One of the (deleted) tweets in the thread said âN*****S ARE PISSâ echoing sentiments shared with Darren Wilson, George Zimmerman and probably the entire Trump administration. She came to this conclusion so early that the information isnât even correct - weâve yet to hear about the 14 other murders. Usually Iâd give a pass for misinformation when a story is developing, but not when itâs used to support flippant, dangerous accusations. Itâs disheartening to see a valid critique of hypermasculinity mutate into an attack on black men. Thereâs a lot of opportunities to be thoughtful being squandered by âdrag culture.â Nobody wants to unpack ideas when theyâre wielded as social currency and provocation.
On the other side of the spectrum, Pepe frogs were doing what they usually do. The reactionary right wing response was expectedly tone deaf, clamoring for a response from Black Lives Matter. How stuck on semantics can you be? An organization against police brutality and systemic oppression isnât obligated to speak on some lunatic. Immediately, conservative pundits began digging for evidence that Stephens was affiliated with BLM and Islam. Itâs almost like theyâre trying to smear people they hate, if you can believe that. Â A comment on the Blue Lives Matter website (I got there on accident, donât bother visiting unless you want to buy a wristband or something) said that they were expecting an âoutcryâ towards police when they catch him. How nauseatingly out of touch (or just plain racist) do you have to be to assume that the same people that defended Eric Garner are going to be crusading for this asshole?
Finally, the conspiracy theorists. Now that Alex Jones is doing the pump fake in court, I was worried that Iâd be without my dose of crazy when I need it. My fears subsided when I saw a Facebook page juxtapose Christopher Dorner and Steve Stephens, suggesting they were the same person. This was after someone posted an anecdote about their Dad breaking down why the video was fake. Usually I trust Dads, but I donât think everyone is Dexter Morgan. There were points about the blood drying too quickly, the shot not being realistic, etc. In fact, this theory is dumber than âDexterâ got after John Lithgow called somebody a c*nt. Thatâs saying something.
These conspiracy theories imply that professional actors are used by the government to deceive the public. They believe that the same people are used in multiple instances. For example, the Boston Marathon bombing and the Sandy Hook massacre were theorized to use the same Academy Award winners. They have gone so far to personally attack the parents of children slain in the 2012 school shooting, and Iâm assuming the same will be done to Godwin Sr.âs family if history is any indication.
Iâm at a loss as to why they would hire the same person to appear in multiple publicized tragedies and events. Wouldnât it make more sense to keep a few on retainer? Can they not afford more actors? Actually, can I be a crisis actor? If someone could suggest a template for a resume or do some press shots for me, Iâd really be interested. All I have to do is show up and cry, which is what I usually do when I log on to Facebook anyway.
All in all, I donât really have a thesis here. Sorry to say, but these knee jerk reactions rendered Godwin Sr.âs death into a contest to see who was the loudest in the room. To be honest, Iâm not entirely sure whether we project our narcissism whenever we can or have just turned into desensitized shitheads. Look at the president - both options are viable. Regardless, someone died, and I was a bit disturbed (albeit not shocked) at the immediate attempts to politicize and twist the situation to fit a narrative. Itâs not a bad thing to just write someone like Stephens off as crazy and leaving your critique to the wayside while families mourn and communities heal. In fact, it may stop us from treating the news like a microwave.

Trigger /a/ Q&A with Tattun/Producer (questions in bold)
(x)
Who is your favorite girl?
Which would you have sex with?
I can't choose. I like all my characters. But I do like the newer characters that's still yet to be shown in the series.
I won't be answering your later question
Producer-san. Did any staff travel around the UK to get inspiration?
Will there be a witch from Wales?
Yes we did. We visited London and Edinburgh
We don't really have a plan for a witch from Wales.
Legit question. Was this character based on Chumlee from Pawn Stars?
Yes, this was homage to Chumlee. Also a show of respect to Matsushima, the voice actor for this particular character.
I love Chumlee!
So, who are the other Trigger girls?
TRIGGER GIRLS will not be taking part in LWA.
Isekai is the biggest trend in the industry right right now, are Trigger going to get into it?
None of the project we're working on fits that genre. But who knows, some surprise project my nudge in.
Why are there no Canadian witches?
Please put in a Canadian witch
I guess we don't have a clear image of what Canada/Canadians are like. We gotta do some studying I suppose.
(click on âKeep readingâ for more questions)
When do we see Andrew debut!??
I can't disclose this information. Sorry! Just keep on watching every episode...
Did you expect Little Witch Academia to provoke such a response overseas?
How much has the international audience factored into your plans for this series?
Initially I had no expectation. But I always wanted to work on a project that will be watched and enjoyed globally.
Does Trigger approve of Akko x Diana? This is important.
No. Do what you wish in your fan fictions.
What are the chances of getting a British dub?
That'd be the dream
Producer- san
WHAT STATE IS AMANDA FROM?
We only have her nationality thought out still. She's Irish American sooo how's Brooklyn sound?
I haven't confirmed anything with the director, so anything I mention might be turned over at a later time.
Will vampire-chan appear in episode 4?
Will Sucys mom-sama appear?
We really want to.
Is there going to be a Luluco cameo in LWA?
Can't comment on this at the moment.
Is there a male counterpart to Luna Nova???
A school for Wizards??
Wizards exist in the LWA world.
Will Trigger-chan show up in LWA?
No
Will Akko ever get gud?
Will Lotte do something outside be the 3rd wheel?
You have to watch the entire series to find that out.
Producer-san what was the inspiration for the spells?
I'll disclose that information once the series is over!
Has TRIGGER considered opening up donations from overseas, or using a service like Patreon?
Many of us want to support the studio directly, but it's difficult.
Not at the moment. But if there's enough request, we can give it a try.
Producer-san do idol witches exist?
Isn't that suppose to be Chariot?
Is Akko the only muggle (non-magic folk) in the academy, or will there be more featured?
Is Luna Nova the only magic school in the LWA world?
I think there's more student from a non magic household. They're just not featured.
Yes, other magical academy aside from Luna Nova exists.
Who came up with the metal wand design?
All the designs are by Yoshinari.
Producer-san, Tattun touched upon this briefly, but what is THE single best way to support you guys directly when it comes to merchandising? Forget the middleman, forget committees, what is the best way for my money to go directly to you, tattun, and everyone else that works in the studio?
Hmmm I'm not sure.
Will Trigger be selling LWA Brooms as merchandise?
because i would buy one.
No. Someone please make a prop broom for us!
Do you guys plan on selling raw inbetween frames for LWA like you guys did for KLK?
We hope to do so!
How is production going so far on the show? How do the staff feel about the project?
We're behind! Help us!
How different is it producing anime for a platform like Netflix in comparison to just producing it regularly?
It's quite different! A lot of new rules that we have to follow.
Hi Producer-san! If this series gets dubbed, which I hope it does so kids in the States can watch it, will it have the same voice actors as for the OVAs? Or will you get new VAs?
I'm not sure. We never had any says in dubbing.
Producer-san
This is very important for us.
Ursula a virgin?
Yes/No?
She says "ăăăăźăŞwww"
Dear Producer-san
Can we trust you guys to upkeep the family-friendly and magical atmosphere of the show? I love the world this anime presents and I, as many other anons, believe that adding things like romance or going overboard with yuri would demolish that atmosphere.
We do want to keep the family friendly atmosphere. Our goal is to make a series where it is appreciated by the largest demographic.
Also, will we see more of Avery, and Akko bullying?
Avery will get a scene occasionally.
Hopefully Akko can grow out of her habits.
I know it is early but is there any plans for Season 2 or another Movie and maybe OVA if LWA came out successful/popular?
Hold your horses! Please enjoy our television series first.
What inspired the decision to make Amanda overtly Irish-American as opposed to just American?
It's one of the few times I've seen something like that done in an anime.
Not sure. It was a request by Yoshinari.
Important question: Is sucy a Filipino?
We want to keep Sucy's profile mysterious.
Why is there no Swedish witch producerSan?
You gotta settle with Lotte. She's from the same area... sort of... They exist in another class. Just not around Akko.
Will Chum Lee appear on later episodes or was it a one time cameo?
he will make an appearance occasionally.
I love Chumlee.
How much research was put into British snacks? Did anyone get as fat as Jasminka?
Wow! I'm amazed how much research you've put in.
>pot
>kettle
based tattun
This is Tattun responding. Yes my favorite flavor for kettle cook potato chip is Salt n Vinegar. Thus why I like Jas.
Are we getting beach episode?
No.
Where would you like to see anime go in 5 years? Where do you think it will be in 5 years?
I hope we're around in 5 years.
Who's work in the animation industry today do you admire?
Zootopia's director. Byron Howard
What's your opinion on animation today? 3D, 2D, video games, etc.?
It's good to have multiple ways to express a project. But my favorite is 2D.
Answers from here on by Tattun.
Are we going to get the cards?
I believe there's a plan to have them as a bonus for the BD. As for the details, I am unsure.
TATTUN
Tell Trigger that we want to give them money.
It's getting ridiculous. She kept dodging out attempts to throw money at her.
Tell them to open a donation thing. I mean come on it's current year.
The Japanese are very skeptical when it comes to new technology/idea they're not familiar with.
Is there any merch in particular that you enjoy helping create? Any that you're looking forward to that you can tell us?
Is this question exclusive to LWA? I usually make artbook type of merch. For LWA, I believe I only made the yellow staff book that went around a while ago.
aren't you supposed to work for a living
for the last few days you just sit here and shitpost
I kinda get to set my own work hours. As long as I can get the work done. I don't recall posting here all that much though? Last time was Saturday?
Does Trigger owning the IP for LWA (I assume they own it at least) give better leverage for shares of profits?
How profitable for you are figures and nendoroids?
I have no details regarding this matter. But from the looks of previous title like KLK, I don't think it's too great.
What merch do we need to buy to directly support trigger?
This is important!!!!
Mostly stuff that goes on our online store... Which isn't too rich in variety since we always have difficulties getting the go sign for oversea sales.
>I hope we're around in 5 years.
A-are you guys running low on funds? ;w;
I think our producer has the habit of overspending the initial budget lol
Hey Tattun, given what you said in the last thread, how will we know which merchandise is sold by Trigger as opposed to the committee?
I know you said that it's a complicated process regarding what merch Trigger actually gets to licence, but if there was even some way of knowing which merch is licenced by Trigger it would help a lot for those of us who wish to support the studio directly.
Might be hard but if you research hard enough, it'll generally say who manufactured the item.
>The Japanese are very skeptical when it comes to new technology/idea they're not familiar with.
Well tell them to stop being skeptical and enter the 21st century.
What do you expect from people who "REALLY" believes that such an archaic media like Blu-rays sells like pancakes.
How would you rank Trigger's original works, in order of most to least favorite?
Did you enjoy Luluco as much as I did (a lot)?
The first project I was involved was the original LWA. So nostalgia points are definitely in effect. Sooo I'll probably rank LWA on top of Luluco and KLK.
Will the old LWA sketchbook ever be reprinted?
No plans at the moment
So Tattun, do you like your anime-related job? Would you change it for something different?
Yea, I'm enjoying it. But then I gotta think of quality of life soon too lol
Tattun, is this guy right?
Nah, but this guy sounds like he has a better understanding than me.
Im sorry if this is really off the topic of anime, but when Kill la Kill was airing I heard that Trigger and Platinum Studios were pals, or just had mutual things going on so this lead to me also hearing a lot of wishing and speculation that there would be a KLK or some trigger video game at some point, however I always question the validity of that statement.
Do you know if it is true though?
Maybe one of the producer might be close with someone in Platinum? Can't confirm this but I know one of the creators from Platinum was interested in working on a KLK game if given the opportunity.
Are you planning to come back at some point in the future?
Since the Mods were kind enough to give me an account, I'd like to make more use out of it.
what are some dirty secrets about the anime industry
I thought I was pretty open with my opinions today.

After Another Twitter Rant Targeting Her, Kim Kardashian Speaks Out About Kanye West Battling Bipolar Disorder Amid Reports That Sheâs Meeting With Divorce Lawyers
Kanye West went on another Twitter rant last night where he revealed he has been trying to divorce Kim Kardashian West after she met up with Meek Mill to talk âprison reform" almost two years ago. Now, Kim K is speaking out about Yeâs battle with bipolar disorder, all while reportedly meeting with divorce lawyers. Get it all insideâŚ
Kanye West has a new album â DONDA â dropping Friday along with a new sneaker. So, heâs doing what he does best for promo. At least that's what some people believe.
'Ye has been in the headlines since the fourth of July when he announced he was running for president. He made his first campaign appearance in South Carolina last weekend and stirred up a sh*tstorm of controversy when he revealed he and his wife, Kim Kardashian West, were contemplating abortion when they first found out they were pregnant. Then, he hopped on Twitter to fire shots at his wife and the Kardashian-Jenner family, along with discrediting famed abolitionist Harriet Tubman.
Now, heâs tweeting (and deleting) about DIVORCE. And has accused his wife of attempting to or actually cheating with Meek Mill.
Last night, the Jesus Is King rapper hopped on Twitter with claims that he has been trying to divorce his reality star wife for years. The âHeartlessâ rapper said he has been trying to cut ties with Kim since November 2018 after she linked up with rapper Meek Mill at a hotel during a criminal justice reform summit. He also made a random reference to late pop icon Michael Jackson.
"I've been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek at the Waldorf for 'prison reform,'" he tweeted (and deleted).
"Meek is my man and was respectful That's my dog Kim was out of line I'm worth 5 billion dollars and more than that through Christ But ya'll ain't listen to MJ and now ya'll believe them???"
Meek seemingly responded saying it's cap.
 Shit is cappp cmon .....
â Meek Mill (@MeekMill) July 22, 2020
The âUltralight Beamâ rapper also fired shots at his mother-in-law Kris Jenner (again), dubbing her Kris Jong-Un.
"Kriss and Kim put out a statement without my approval ... that's not what a wife should do."
Itâs unclear what statement he was referencing as Kim didn't issue a statement on her Instagram until a couple of hours ago.
Yeâs latest Twitter rant comes a day after he ranted on the app about Kim supposedly trying to have him hospitalized involuntarily.
"Kim was trying to fly to Wyoming with a doctor to lock me up like on the movie Get Out because I cried about saving my daughters life yesterday," Ye tweeted and deleted.
âSourcesâ hit up media outlets to let them know Kim is âcompletely devastatedâ by Yeâs tweets.
Now, Kimâs speaking out herself. The âKeeping Up With The Kardashiansâ star hopped on IG Stories to address Kanyeâs latest antics. She talked about his mental health battle and asked fans for âcompassion and empathy.â
"As many of you know, Kanye has bipolar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand," Kim wrote. "I've never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye's right to privacy when it comes to his health. But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health."
"Those that understand mental illness or even compulsive behavior know that the family is powerless unless the member is a minor. People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try."
"He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of the pressures of being an artist and a black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother, has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bi-polar disorder,â the mom-of-four continued. Those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words some times do not align with his intentions."
"We as a society talk about giving grace to the issue of mental health as a whole, however we should also give it to the individuals who are living with it in times when they need it the most," Kim continued "I kindly ask that the media and public give us the compassion and empathy that is needed so that we can get through this. Thank you for those who have expressed concern for Kanye's well being and for your understanding."
Check it:
It's important to note, Kim previously Tweeted her support of her husband for President not even 3 weeks ago, and the family sources have stated that he has been in the midst of an episode for a pretty long while now. So it can be confusing to fans and people everywhere what exactly are legit statements and beliefs of his - esp. when she co-signs certain ones - and what is the product of a bipolar episode.
People would be more apt to take her statement at face value if she wasnât simultaneously profiting off the fallout from his episode - seeing the incessant buzz around him but only promoting her products and moving up the filming of the new season of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" which is happening as we type. But there was not one word about his state of mind uttered from her own mouth until he began attacking her and her mother directly. He has been attacking many people and groups, especially black women, for months if not years. And people don't often discuss that.
Hereâs some context for that video and enjoy this thread of ignorant comments Kanye said today at the rally in North Charleston: https://t.co/J78mu0qH9C pic.twitter.com/Z6aW9cLCUZ
â iesha (@iesha_mars) July 20, 2020
- He yelled at me as if i was a toddler for interrupting him with CORRECT FACTS. A white girl did the SAME THING literally 10 mins earlier, and he hugged her and called her brave for âspeaking outâ and âspeaking the truthâ pic.twitter.com/vGJhafvuQb
â iesha (@iesha_mars) July 20, 2020
At what point can others who don't share blood or a bed with him speak up for themselves too without being labeled as just purely insensitive? He has a huge platform and endless resources, so his words carry weight - whether he is having an episode or not.
She and her family want it both ways. And you canât have it both ways. Attempting to run an entire country - and she reposted and co-signed his campaign - while admittedly and proudly not taking meds or managing your disorder, can be problematic. And it would be for anyone attempting to have any position that has a direct effect on people's everyday lives. No one said people with mental or emotional disorders can't live full lives. There are people in top positions everywhere who do just that. But proudly not doing anything to manage said disorder while trying to take on an influential an position is what people have an issue with.
While her social media posts seem supportive, US Weekly says Kim is meeting with divorce lawyers following her husband's latest rant. The site reports:Â
âKim has been meeting with lawyers to explore and talk about divorce,â a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. While the couple has had their ups and downs in the past, another source says she has 'wanted to make it work.' The insider adds that Kardashian, 39, hasnât gone forward with divorce in the past 'because of their children.'â
Ye & Kim tied the knot in May 2014 and have four children together, North, 7, Saint, 4½, Chicago, 2½, and Psalm, 14 months.
Can't lie, their marriage lasted longer than we expected. However, we knew when ish hit the fan, regardless of why, it was going to be a nightmare. And here we are.
Also....
All I did was ask what about the Gullah Geechee pic.twitter.com/17XM3SMUkC
â ment nelson (@mentnelson) July 20, 2020
Marquetta L. Goodwine, who was elected Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation, issued an open letter to Kanye West after he kicked out a South Carolina artist for asking him about the Gullah-Geechee culture during his campaign appearance over the weekend.
âWhat about the Gullah-Geechee?â artist Ment Nelson asked.
âYou probably one of them,â Ye responded. Then, he instructed to have him escorted out of the event.
âHey, somebody go grab him and take him out,â Ye commanded.
Peep the clip above.
Here's Queen Quet's personal message to the Chi-town rapper in response to Ye removing the artist:
Peace Kanye!
I must begin by letting you know that I am going to go back and play âJesus Walksâ and pray for you when I finish writing you this letter. I have been praying for you for years given the few things that I am aware of that you have gone through in your life. In spite of those things, it appears that you have not learned PROVERBS 4:7 KJV âWisdom [is] the principal thing; [therefore] get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.â
You came to the Gullah/Geechee Nation to the Holy City i.e. Charleston, SC on a holy day to act unholy during the 20th Anniversary celebration of our nation and the continuation of our cultural heritage. Instead of being well aware of that, your campaign team allowed you to disrespect one of our citizens who is also a celebrated artist that has painted you and the person in Washington DC that you seem to want to emulate. Mr. Ment Nelson asked you a clear question, âWhat about the Gullah/Geechee?â He spoke in English and not in Gullah to insure that you would be able to respond and provide your platform for our cultural community. If you were not aware of who we are, someone on your team should have been educated enough to IMMEDIATELY whisper information in your ear. Obviously, Jesus wasnât walking with nor talking to you based on your outrageous reaction to something that you didnât know about! How dare you have people remove this brother from the space? You were in our house!
 He knows https://t.co/ataYotpCyr
â ment nelson (@mentnelson) July 20, 2020
I met with numerous US presidential candidates that were running because they chose to educate themselves about our unique culture community and to respect the protocols for our community. Your ignorance about us we could have excused if you were not attempting to obtain a space on a ballot. Many tourists arrive in the cities of the Gullah/Geechee Nation and are unaware of who we are, but they are usually wise enough to have someone educate them before they leave. Mr. Ment Nelson could have done this if you had done what you had the audacity to tell your audience to do at the beginning of this gathering which you held for media attention. It is obvious that you didnât actually want anyone in what is called the South Carolina Lowcountry to take you seriously (if they were considering that in the first place) based on you throwing Brother Ment out of the building because he stood up like a proud Gullah/Geechee man should do and asked you a direct question. Your reaction was egregious and showed no respect for another Black man nor any manners at all. You have shown that you are out of touch with the calls for unity being fought for within the global Black community. This proves that you have no business attempting to enter an arena with world leaders.
Your behavior is completely unacceptable! As the elected leader of the Gullah/Geechee Nation, I hold you and your team accountable for this and expect you to show that you actually have Jesus walking with you by issuing a public apology to not only to Mr. Ment Nelson, but to the entire Gullah/Geechee family! Hunnuh ain kno who webe den hunnuh shoulda yeddi frum we! Disya ain gwine down drylongso juss likka dah!
