ngl every time I see fully grown adult griffons in the joplin art I hate Assan a little bit more. why on earth is he not fully grown yet. It's been eight years.

The Last Flight happens in 9:41 and Veilguard is in 9:53 -> so that's actually 12 years between when they hatched till DATV starts...how the fuck did griffons ever manage to survive as a species if they're babies for that long?

(doesn't seem like its a good sign for repopulating the griffons if it takes a couple of decades for maturity? That's a lot of time for shit to happen to them in the meantime - babies are vulnerable!)

Scratch that, how did they even survive with Isseya? Did she feed them normal unblighted griffon food? Is there a Pet Smart store around the corner where she goes to get food for them as she plans to have them undergo the joining once more? So many questions about how the hell they actually lived with her for so long...

I admit I was pretty skeptical playing the game that the griffons would even be alive - obviously you want a chance to save them, but I think the game hurt itself by spreading out companion quests in bits and pieces, and after certain main missions were done. Like, it's been a year (?) since the beginning of the game? That's a lot of time for a bunch of little bird-cats to be alone with a crazy blighted elf. :(

Most likely answer: baby griffons make cute little sidekicks + smaller model/animations to deal with + there's no logical reason to explain how Isseya would be able to confine a dozen angry teenage cat-birds.

Respectfully, I personally disagree with having the word 'hate' and 'Assan' in the same sentence lmao. I loved my bird-cat son <3 (but, yeah, he should probably be a big boy by this point)

(Assan is not a 'baby' baby - but he's super young for a griffon? Way too young for maturity to be 'just around the corner', you know?)

Following on from your previous post regarding what you said about you disliking non-human Splinter origin stories, which Splinter would you say is your favorite?

i mean, i wouldn't say i disliked them as so much as i just... didn't care for them as MUCH per say. like 2003 splinter, i hold very high in regards because i think he's a good, well written character without bringing attention to the pretty hilarious backstory that he was a pet rat that learned ninjitsu BEFORE mutating like... that's just straight up hilarious and crazy but it works yknow

and i'll be so honest, rise splinter took me a while to get used to. i liked 2012 splinter for his flaws (i love me a good Daddy Issues underlying plot) but again like i said, rise + 12 do such a good job at fleshing their characters out into something so much more than just the turtles sensei. 2012 took off with that concept and rise ran with it and i appreciate that.

and i really love mutant mayhem splinter! again, don't super vibe with the rat first route buuuut they take it in a pretty fresh direction with his fear of humans so it gives him booster points from me. and its always so refreshing when a splinter acts like a father first rather than just a teacher, which we seem to be getting more of since 2012 and rise :)

i don't really have a favourite just because i think his character all round is interesting. i don't have much to say about bayverse splinter just because i genuinely can't remember much about him. 2007 splinter didn't really do much either really in his movie, and idw splinter can go to fresh hell! lmao

idw splinter would be my only least favourite haha

Design; 6/10 - while I love the goober, he is still slightly unsettling. I really like the expressiveness his little lip flap along with his ears give him, but other than that he's just an orange blob. Lots of children's characters suffer from a trait I've named tinypupilbigeye syndrome, and small is not exempt from this.

Effectiveness/Purpose; 9/10 - (I've never watched this show, feel free to correct me in comments or rbs :] )

Small seems to be designed for the one sole purpose of being the chaotic "source of the issue" character in big and small, directly in contrast to big's gentle demeanor. I'm sure all of you have seen the

toothpaste incident

and that is just an example of his behavior. I did play the game and can confirm he acts like that for most of it. Anyways he pulls off the demonic gremlin swag very well and is great character writing (from what I've seen)

Overall; 7.5/10 - uh oh, you found the toothpaste

these are jellies from the S.E.A aquarium in singapore!! i think they had more jellies actually but i didn't take pictures... the aquarium overall was pretty cool though, they had lots of huge tanks with large fish and sharks.

the last picture is just a screenshot of a video, but they had the moon jellies housed in a tank where they continually rotated through different lighting colors. it was super pretty but i was wondering if the jellies would be bothered by the constantly changing lights??

AHHH THESE ARE LOVELY!! and your camera skills are so much better than mine, haha. I love how crisp and clear they all turned out ^-^!! (Maybe it's also because the lighting in the aquarium is better? Well, regardless, these are gorgeous photos.)

Diversity - 6/10 - The included species seem to be pretty generic all things considered, but at least there's some variety

Presentation - 8/10 - Everything looks neat and clean, and the Rhizostomid jellyfish have some pigmentation on them. Also, I'm a sucker for Jellyfish Raves.

Learning - N/A - Haven't been there in person, can't say for sure how good the information is.

You actually bring up a great point! However, you need not worry about these poor jellyfishes' eyes- they should be completely fine.

Moon Jellyfish are part of Class Scyphozoa- which are about in the middle when it comes to "seeing organ" complexity in Sub-class Medusozoa (or the Jellyfish Subclass).

Their primary seeing organs (Ocelli) are contained within "Rhopalia"- which also control orientation (the uh, position kind not the pride kind) through statocysts and also bell pulsation.

Unlike Box Jellyfish, which have true eyes that can perceive different wavelengths of light, ocelli can only perceive brightness.

Moon jellies exhibit vertical migration (basically raise to the surface during the day and to the bottom at night), so perhaps if the brightness of the lights are played with too much, it might confuse their natural sense of migration? But jellyfish do not have a brain, so I think they will be fine regardless :)

However, since we are on the topic of rhopalia, did you know that moon jellyfish polyps were sent to space in mission STS-40? There's a video on youtube about that with the ugliest looking jellyfish I've ever seen (affectionate). Apparently, they developed just fine in space, though their statocysts seemed to develop improperly. Poor little guys.

Hm..thinking about Elise's backstory -- she was born in 1957. She grew up in public housing in a poor neighborhood in the 1960's, and would would have been a teenager in the early 1970's. Thinking of the cuisine of the era, particularly among the working poor: food tended to be simple, convenient, and bland. Thinking of what I've said about Armorican cuisine in the past, and what I've said to @nexility-sims in recent DM's: some kind of potato-heavy casserole prepared with some kind of canned soup. I'm imagining something like potatoes au gratin, made with a can of soup instead of butter and cream. I'm envisioning canned clams playing a role, as well. As for Emily...egg tarts. I don't know why, but she's giving me egg tart vibes. She must be a dim sum girlie.

Before she joined the royal family, Elise played hockey professionally. Although women's hockey tends to involve less bloodsport than men's hockey, Elise was probably involved in at least one on-ice brawl during the course of her ten-year career. I don't think she's ever seriously physically injured anyone, but she broke a fair few hearts during the same span of time. Emily is a mild, bookish girl, and Freddy is her first-ever boyfriend. She's never been in a physical fight, never crashed a car, never committed drunken manslaughter at a party. And she's certainly never broken anyone's heart...

Well, I'm rereading Murderbot right now, so naturally I'm having a great deal of fun. I'm currently on Rogue Protocol, which features the adorable Miki as the sidekick of the day. Miki isn't as fun as ART, but I love all of the internal conflicts that it sets off in this book. Also, the humans Murderbot sets out to adopt and protect are largely sensible people for once (outside of Mensah's team).

As for the hard mode, ughhhhhh that's gonna be really hard lol. The last book I hated so much that I left it a harsh review was A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World. I didn't even finish it (got about halfway) and I still had stuff to say.

Despite the fumble with the "twist", it had some good points. Entertainment Weekly calls it "atmospheric" and it really is. I love stories set on islands, and I love stories that are in settings we would recognize but, due to time and circumstances, are unrecognizable to the point-of-view characters. That part of the story was what kept me reading for as long as I did.

There's also an A Canticle for Leibowitz mention, which made me excited because I hadn't seen that in a book yet; and, despite everything, the characters largely get a happy ending and they get their dogs back.

me and my cousin i'm barely on speaking terms with (but in a relatively casual way) repotted her deceased grandmother's pothos today. this was our first time actually properly repotting it bc last summer it was in such a fragile state and we were so scared to hurt it that we just lifted it out of its pot and placed it in a bigger one but this go round we basically dismantled it entirely. we got eight discrete plants and placed it into four different pots!! in nine months it went from the edge of death to that many plants and like ninety leaves altogether. so if you're bad with plants but still wanna fool with them, i guess you should get a pothos.

oh of course!! thank you for asking! this didn't even need the biscuit bribe, i love pushing vetvimes fic on people. :')

my very favourite is on the difference between heat and light - mind the tags; this includes dubcon as the summoning dark is involved. it is, however, also high romance (to me) and principally about making sense of painful and complicated and very gooey feelings. i love it. highly recommend.

Holding On is another fic i've recently re-read and enjoyed all over again. it has hurt, it has comfort, it has mutual self-sacrifice, it has getting stuck in the wilderness together, it has clothes sharing. it also has a G rating, so it's a good one to offset the above with. delightful read.

another one i'm extremely fond of is What's Past is Prologue - in which the old men have a sleepover, and there's a ghost. excellent for an october fic reading list. this is very sweet, still more so than Holding On, and feels a bit like drinking hot chocolate.

if you're looking for something quite discworldy and funny and don't mind a fic mainly written in outsider perspectives, i very highly recommend The Nine Circles. it's a loving pastiche of fanfics, their authors, and what they might look like in-universe.

to be fully honest, i still haven't even come close to reading all discworld novels! out of all the ones i've read (fourteenish i think?), my #1 absolute favourite is feet of clay - it's also just one of my favourite books in general. up there with it are the truth, hogfather, and carpe jugulum :')

Design; 9/10 - stub legs!! he's doing a little dance!!! He reminds me of lechonk from pokemon but that might just be me idk. One of my favorite character design tropes is "little guy hides under disguise"!! Also I love the hats scary face!

Purpose/Effectiveness; 8/10 okay i still dont know anything about dragonquest but i did a lot more research this time!! The wiki said that it was a monster with a low-level attack, making me think that it's probably one of the first you encounter in the game. Honestly this is really good low-level enemy design! It isnt that scary or imposing, but still enough to let the player know it is gonna attack you. Also wizard hat + using magic! We stan magic boars here!! From what the wiki also said it looks like it has other varients?? So as you go into more dangerous places you encounter more dangerous hatwitches?? That is actually really cool if it's true
