I hope you realise that your latest fic "like a car off a cliff" is now permanently burned into my gray matter and won't ever go away as long as I live. I mean this in the best possible way of course - I'm probably gonna go back and read it when I calm down a little because oh my word what a phenomenal story you've written.
Anyhow, I wanted to ask a question about the backstory of this particular fic. We know how Kris and Ralsei met in this continuity, and that she was eventually able to escape her home situation thanks to them, but I'm wondering what it was that made them want to try and have a relationship together. There's something about the fact that these two characters, who in this continuity aren't suited to romance at all, were at least willing to try it together that strikes me as very poignant. Essentially I'm asking - what was it you think they saw in each other which made them want to try for that?
Hope this makes sense - like I said, your writing kinda fried my brain a little bit with how good it was, so if I'm rambling incoherently here I apologise! XD
proud for my fic to live rent free in your head forever <3 always feel free to drop an ask about it No Matter How Long It Has Been. i love to yap.
and of course! uh, the real reason is that both of them were sort of like. i guess this is just what you do, and they were closer to each other than anybody else (kris and ralsei meet when they're ~12ish and continue to meet up until theyre 14, which is when ralsei leaves). basically they saw all their friends getting together and talking about romance and crushes and then susie and noelle got together and its like. oh we're the other two members of the friend group we should do that too right. and thus they did. think like the high school dance is approaching and theyre like oh shit hey wanna go together. and this is how it starts njgkdfg
but ALSO in terms of a romantic relationship they're actually very safe for each other lol, bc neither of them really....want any of that? so for them dating was literally no different from being friends, which is why they sort of didnt. acknowledge that maybe they didnt want to be in a romantic relationship for so long. it only became weird in the context of society! but if its just the two of them they're doing pretty well.
basically theyre both aromantic <3 we love this for them.
hope that helped!!! theres a lot of like. backstory thought that i never put explicitly on the page for this one so, uh. feel free to ask more about this 'verse! it was real fun to translate into 'reality' aka without the dark worlds, cause those are so important to how i interpret these characters yknow.

I love your headcanon of suselle being ‘i love you but you’re not good for me’ kind of thing. To me, it really fits their personal dynamics
Mmmm I’ll use this ask to elaborate a bit more since it is a great segway, hope you dont mind anon, since you pretty much aced it I think
Discussion of abuse and family shit and general bad relationships below if not invested scroll away— this shit is super interesting to me but I know it’s not an e for everyone thing
Tumblr media
There is a very interesting video on YouTube about how Noelle repeatedly displays signs of learned helplessness. From what I recall of it a part is attributed to rudys hospitalisation which, fair, but to me it stems from before. In my Dess and Asriel post I talk a bit about how I think the holidays exhibit the toxic parent-enabler parent-golden child-scapegoat child family dynamic, which is a relatively common one in dysfunctional families. I think Rudy enabled mama holiday off the very beginning, when he first flirted with her and she slapped him and he still went on to pursue a relationship and have children with her. Per rudy’s own admission mama holiday is “hard” on Noelle, enough his primary concern while in the hospital is that the two of them are alone at home— not a good sign, and speaks of him knowing this behaviour is repeated. This is not new
As for Susie, well. She eats chalk. She speaks of not having her own room. She drinks the milk alphys leaves in the alleyway. She repeatedly assumes people want her away or don’t want to be friends with her, like there is something unlovable about herself. She tells ralsei he must have gotten the wrong person when he says he thinks she’s the hero, and when Toriel tells her to call her family, she doesn’t. She can also spot Toriel is a good mother, and care about Kris upsetting her. She is more emotionally intelligent than expected of a teen— I’ve seen people speculate she is homeless, I’m not sure if I agree 100% but she is clearly neglected.
This is when it goes to shit, though. In a book called Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents (that changed my life by the way kek) a couple chapters describe the way neglected children respond- internalisers and externalisers are the primary two responses. Internalisers shoulder the weight of their neglect. They shift the blame onto themselves, and constantly strive for self improvement, introspect and self-flagellate. Externalisers shift the anger of neglect onto external factors and tend to seek sensory soothing (substances), lash out and be aggressive, and respond with anger at perceived injuries of the ego.
Noelle is an internaliser, Susie an externaliser. In addition to that, Noelle pretty much embodies the fawning response to trauma, where Susie displays many signs of the fight and flight responses. From another link that I have read a lot lately I share the following screenshots,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TLDR: Susie responds to perceived injury with aggression. We see this through chapter 1 repeatedly. Even before she knows whether or not Kris will snitch on her over the chalk, she’s ready to be aggressive to them. When Ralsei criticises her hostility, she changes sides. She responds to a perceived betrayal by Lancer not only with self deprecation but with rage. Even in chapter 2, her response to Monster Kid and Snowy speaking ill of Kris is to scare them.
The thing is SUSIE IS ALSO A TEENAGER. She can learn. Her behaviour can be modified if properly assessed, and it is obvious she is still at a stage where she doesn’t really want to be hostile— as soon as kris and Ralsei open up, she shows the considerate, dedicated, playful, protective friend she is. You see this in the text, “learning of the steep price to pay if things are achieved through intimidation.l” And this is what Ralsei teaches her when he stands up to her behaviour. He does it in a clumsy way at first, but it’s clearly seeping in later on, and his boundaries, the important ones, are fixed. He says no cakes until she stops being mean to him and indeed does NOT give cakes until susie verbally promises and keeps that behavioral change. That is something he can give her— both that education and the unconditional affection she wants desperately but is also afraid of losing. Susie needs someone assertive who will stop the fight response.
Then there’s Noelle:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kind of fascinating noelle is a young reindeer… a fawn, if you will. I don’t know if this is intentional and I’m inclined to believe it’s not, but it definitely makes for some incredible symbolism kek. Notice how it says they attract abuse, neglect or aggression? We already have dialogue in Chapter 2 in which Noelle romanticizes Susie’s intimidation, wanting her to laugh at her and degrade her… and how could she not? She has fawned so much she has learned helplessness, not standing up to even Berdly, who isn’t intentionally hostile, and her own father normalises aggression by a romantic partner, makes it a funny incident in a happy marriage. And people tend to be aware of the pattern in which children of domestic abuse victims will grow up and attract similar partners.
The issue is… both of these are defense mechanisms. They don’t work for long term relationships. They’re responses to perceived danger that are generally unpleasant to adopt and the person does to guarantee themselves safety. This link speaks of a “downward spiral” that is pretty much how I see Suselle:
Tumblr media
Susie is aggressive, Noelle romanticises it while clearly responding with what she herself describes as “the good kind of scary”, Susie sinks into her mechanism even further because, well, it is endorsed, so it works!, which makes noelle fawn even further… and so on.
Susie already perceives herself as a ruthless, violent machine. We see her project this onto others. She projects it thinking her classmates want her out. She projects it onto Lancer, asking him who would want to be her friend, anyway. She calls herself Violent Ax Susie and emphasises how enemies are made for beating up, putting this facade of pride on this aspect of herself. Ralsei’s gentleness shocks her because it disarms her intimidation response and she is so affection starved a single gesture of kindness from Noelle made her spare Noelle entirely…
And yet, right before the Ferris Wheel, Noelle tells her supposed dream figment of Susie that “she doesn’t care about anybody”, something Ralsei and Kris realised wasn’t true in a single day of actually talking to her and engaging with her. And Susie’s response? “I mean, TRUE.” She immediately sinks back into this defense mechanism that we KNOW is not true.
Oof!
Do I think they like each other, truly, at the beginning? Yeah, I totally do, especially because they’re prolly gonna be the canon ship. And there is, after all, this thing in most relationships called a honeymoon period.
Tumblr media
They’re gonna have an amazing honeymoon period. But then reality begins to sink in. The spiral starts. Noelle’s own unsolved insecurities become people pleasing, fawning, and even jealousy since Susie is so casual with affection with friends and cares for them, we can see that even now at the beginning. Susie feels threatened, she fights. They fight. It goes to hell.
In my headcanon, it’s Susie who tells Noelle to break up, because I imagine Susie is emotionally parentified— which makes her aware of a bunch of emotional concepts that teens haven’t grasped too in depth generally. We see her have a broad moral understanding in canon, even if the way she words it can be a little clumsy. It is her who realises this is no fairytale, and splits the relationship, and it HURTS, but it’s ultimately what is best for them.
And that’s the suselle rant part 1 I guess
I actually have even more on this, specifically on what Noelle would benefit from in a partner, why I think kris has it, why I could see this happening even after the start of Noelle’s and Susie’s development… but this is huge and scary to post as is! So kek

Okay apologies if this is annoying but you mentioned Kris and Frisk being similar and it unlocked An Interest--
Speaking of Kris and Frisk being similar, for months now I've thought that rather than Kris, Chara was actually a lot more similar to Noelle. Even made a post about the parallels between Frisk/Kris and Chara/Noelle in No Mercy and Snowgrave.
But like. Noelle and Chara. There's the obvious stuff-- both being a way of measuring how corrupt we become in their respective weird routes, both being 'the demon who comes when we call their name' (Chara calling themself this, Noelle literally coming when we call her in the Spamton fight), both become fixated on 'growing stronger.'
But there's also other similarities between them. They're both children who have immense expectations placed upon them-- Rudy talking about Noelle's mother, and I'm sure being the future of humans and monsters was no pressure for Chara in the slightest, Asgore. There's also how Chara was implied to be rather shy, yet intelligent and reading a lot-- for shyness, there's how they always hide their face in photos and speak too quietly for the video to pick up. For intelligence, if you go with the NarraChara theory, they make some very complex puns and reference Japanese literature at one point, and outside the NarraChara theory there's also how they seemed to be the 'brains' behind their and Asriel's plan.
They also both, despite being quiet, seem to have their own appreciations for horror and pranking their loved ones. Chara catching Asriel with a scary face, Noelle enjoying Kris' pranks, but also pranking them back in Chapter 2.
Also also! Strong angel imagery for the both of them!
I just. Sometimes I think about perceptions of Noelle and perceptions of Chara, and how they may have been similar. Chara was maybe softer and quieter and shyer and nicer than the fandom first anticipated, when talking to them while they're not hopped-up on 20 LV. Noelle could become more pragmatic and cold and megalomaniacal, if allowed to continue down the path we set her on. There's lots of KFC stuff or Asriel meets Ralsei stuff but I wish there were more content of Chara and Noelle being friends aaaaaaaaagh--
If you've read the whole ramble. Thanks, hope you found it interesting XD
No need to apologize for rambling to me about UT/DR stuff! Especially if it's about Chara and/or Noelle, they're both comfortably in my top 5 characters from these games. And you hit on a lot of the reasons why I love them so much! I definitely think all the parallels you pointed out here apply, both in terms of their roles in the bad routes and in terms of their general characterization.
The only thing I feel like adding is: I think there's also a fair amount of Noelle / Asriel parallels, especially when you take into account Noelle's relationship with Dess.
The angel imagery is something both Noelle and Chara share with Asriel, as well as the translating of their traumatic experiences into video-gamey terms to help process them (Chara's mentioning of stats in no mercy, Flowey's explanation of resets and viewing of the other characters as NPCs, and Noelle understanding battles by comparing them to dragon blazers (a point which isn't made explicit in snowgrave but can be inferred))
Both Noelle and Asriel were fairly emotional kids, with at least one known particular instance of each of them crying (Noelle's being crying into DR!Azzy's jacket, Asriel's being... quite a few)
Dess promised Noelle she'd take her someplace other than hometown someday, to a place with "shining lights"; Chara likely made a similar promise to Asriel, even if only on their deathbed
And now, like Asriel/Flowey, Noelle is left behind with only the memory of her sibling, wishing there was a way to bring said sibling back.
Plus, as a bonus Chara - Dess parallel: Chara may very well have fallen into the underground on a december holiday.

ralsei-NO WAIT, SUZIE!!!!
I’m just taking this as an excuse to do both, so!
Susie
Favorite thing about them: She’s so soft and emotional and genuine under her scary exterior. She cares for her friends so much. She doesn’t really understand how Darkners turn into items but she’s sad when Lancer isn’t around and so so happy when he does reappear. And how ecstatic she is to show off her healing magic, or how she takes the time to get Kris smiling after the Spamton fight. I am very soft for characters like her, who care so much more than you’d expect.
Least favorite thing about them: I hope her not realizing Darkners turn into items is going somewhere. She’s not a smart kid, but that just seems. A bit oddly dumb of her? So I kinda hope there’s a reason she can’t figure it out and it’s not just a running gag.
Favorite line: Probably when Lancer says he wants to be like her and she just goes ‘You want to be… like me?’ It’s the beginning of a beautiful friendship and her character development, but also shows some vulnerability, because so far, we’ve gotten the impression NO ONE likes or looks up to Susie. Susie confronting Snowdrake and MK outside the bunker was also great. And in terms of comedy nothing tops ‘What would Kris do…? (Eat moss/point and hearts come out)
She’s just a goldmine of great quotes okay.
brOTP: Is it not obvious? Susie and Lancer.
OTP: I think think Krusielle (Kris, Susie, and Noelle) is an underrated dynamic. I want all three to be weird together.
nOTP: Uh, don’t really have one? Not one I have very strong feelings about, anyways.
Random Headcanon: In the fancomic Paper Trail, Susie was always hungry and eating weird stuff because no one ever bothered telling her she was a carnivorous species of monster, and she recounted a memory where she got so hungry she broke down and ate the class pet in kindergarten and felt so guilty, and there was a scene where Noelle told her and told her about services she can use to get the food she needs even if she’s poor and Susie just broke down going ‘this is… normal? I’m not a monster?’ Technically not mine but I loved that concept.
I also like the theory Susie grew up in a human community, or even knew Kris in that community before the Dreemurrs adopted them.
Unpopular Opinion: Uuuh… none really.
Song I associate with them: I think she’d sing along really loudly to Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult.
Favorite Picture of them: Don’t got one.
Ralsei
Favorite thing about them: How thoughtful he is! He makes rooms for Kris and Susie with more care than Queen does, he tells Kris(us) that we don’t need to explore all Castletown bow we can take a break, he banishes Kris and Susie until they do their homework… he’s not perfect at it. But I genuinely don’t think he’ll pull a Toriel and try to trap Kris snd Susie in Castletown. He wants to provide them with a place to escape, but not at the cost of their lives and relationships in the Dark World.
Least favorite thing about them: When is a Lightner going to comment on his similarity to Asriel? When are we going to address the elephant in the room? When?
Favorite line: When he remarks how wonderful that Susie is herself, and wonders what being Ralsei-like even is.
brOTP: Uh. Don’t really have one I feel strongly about yet.
OTP: Same. I only really enjoy a ship if I enjoy the dynamic of the relationship, and Ralsei is so passive with everyone that he just… isn’t even noticed by a lot of people. Makes it a little hard for me to get invested in any ships with him as of now. Maybe that’ll change in the future?
nOTP: Again, no strong feelings here. I guess I don’t love Kralsei, because his devotion to Kris in canon can easily turn into that thing I hate where a character has no personality beyond loving and supporting another, but I don’t have any particular vitriol for the ship. I think I’d prefer to see him figure out what being ‘Ralsei-like’ means before he gets into a relationship, especially with Kris. But I don’t think I hate it enough to call it a nOTP, per se, it’s just not what I really want to see from the character.
Random headcanon: I like my weird baseless speculation that Chara made him based off of their idealized vision of Asriel, just like how Flowey was projecting his idealized vision of Chara onto Frisk.
Unpopular opinion: There is a huge spectrum between ‘sweet little cinnamon roll’ and ‘evil mastermind, satan incarnate,’ you guys… and several mysteries surrounding him become kinda obvious if you just think a little bit.
Song I associate with them: Canary in a Coal Mine by the Crane Wives feels applicable.
Favorite picture of them: Still don’t really have one.

Some not so great theories emerging out of chapter 2 in Deltarune.
Okay so this theory is really sad but there is room to make it better.
So darkners right? Things left behind or pieces of childhood embedded with enough of a spark or soul, based off their usefulness. Ralsei tells us ( and all the villains) as much every major fight. We are now collecting up these leftovers things and combining them together to be ruled in basically a Neverland where they cant be hurt or forgotten. (The fact that they get to be ruled under a likeness of Kris' most cherished person is only a nail in the coffin imo.)
So then where are we headed? Well at the end of this episode we see the TV which had been gathering dust and was even unplugged is now back in use. Kris activated the fountain so nostalgic cartoons and movies is probably next, after all what kids wasnt down to watch cartoons with their siblings at the very least on a saturday morning on ritual . Thanks to Alphys and Undyne being here we may even get some Anime!
(I am spitballing that jockington and probably our resident goth cat whose his best bud, and the amount of sports trophies that Asriel had in his room leaves old sporting equipment, scooters, jump-rope, any nostalgic equipment, as a possible chapter as well if we do keep using classmates.)
The 'titans' as referenced in this chapter are just 'grown ups' tossing out old memories and stuff they have outgrown, that is where the main point of my theory comes in. We can possibly assume that one such titan would be Noelle's mother the very practical, busy, and no nonsense madam mayor. I have a big feeling that we will get to play as our lovely deerling again soon to deal with that, as it was made obvious by Queen that she's really an at risk character. To be fair it's a very possible Susie's absentee/ busy parent will be another but I dont feel confident with that particular one yet. It would make for a lovely found family though and push these two cuties closer.
Now finally dear Kris, our shell of a protagonist. Kris is very clearly suffering from abandonment issues ( similar to the darkners they are interacting with) We do have confirmation after this chapter that they have created at least one fountain. Can we assume this is just an 'evil act' not by a long shot. You see that's where the saddest part comes in. All these heroic acts, all the friends we are making, that's us, piloting the shell of a child, that all our classmates and adults even agreed are not acting like,"themselves." They are not, they are just a kid left behind (the only real human in this town of monsters, left by their closest friend and brother when they went off to school and probably before that too as Asriel got older) They are desperate and we keep shoving a determination based soul in their chest and squashing down how they get to feel and act. The scariest part is when they put us back. They are scared of being alone so much they'll let us puppet them to keep their new friends so they wont be so lonely. I kind of hope I am wrong but I have the feeling I'm not that far off.

I'M DONE. HERE. TAKE THESE CHAPTER 2 THOUGHTS AND RUN, BABY.
so i'll try to go in order here. uhhhh... there's a LOT i have to say. first: toriel giggling sprite my beloved
on that note, ALL THE NEW SUSIE SPRITES MY BELOVEDS
NOELLE YOU'RE SO GAY. I THINK THIS IS PROBABLY JUST BECAUSE I TOLD HER TO IN CHAPTER ONE BUT SHE GAVE SUSIE THE LUNCHBOX FULL OF CHALK!! I LOVE ITTTT
ralsei's, uh... kinda sus. the whole "recruiting" thing REALLY sketches me out. and he looks kinda... smug, all the time, like he knows what's going on.
LANCER JOINED! ROUXLS JOINED EVEN THOUGH NO ONE WANTED THAT! STARWALKER JOINED, TO EVERYONE'S JOY!
LIBRARY PORTALLLL
so before i entered the city there was that pre-city area? that looked very much like the city? except it had different music? and i thought they'd cut welcome to the city and i was SEVERELY disappointed. but then they didn't! just something i wanted to mention
NOELLE!!
throughout this game i went from despising berdly to feeling bad for him to not really liking him again, but not hating him as much as before. he'd better stay the fuck away from susie though
the queen is the best villain. she's the kind you love to hate! she's literally so funny AND her boss battle is actually tough (rip to the king but he just. wasn't a formidable enemy at all lol)
THE GANG CHARLIE BROWN DANCING TO WIN A FIGHT! SUSIE GAINING THE POWER TO ACT THROUGH SHEER FORCE OF WILL! SUSIE FORCING RALSEI TO LEARN TO ACT EVEN THOUGH HE DIDN'T WANT TO! THAT ENTIRE BATTLE WAS AMAZING! THE "BATTLE WON" END DANCING SEQUENCE! GOING INSANE GOING INSANE
the puzzles in this chapter were genuinely really impressive! i especially loved the word search puzzles and the ice-ee undertale word search reference💙
that being said. the mouse puzzles were SO fucking infuriating. i caused poor noelle a LOT of grief with those and i feel bad.
SPEAKING OF NOELLE!! the scene where she and kris are walking through the puzzle, the one that spells "december", and she's talking about when they were kids, how she loved sneaking out? beautiful. the cinnamon tography <3 also i guessed dess's full name was december a while ago and while i guess it was obvious, it's nice to have that confirmed!
also, i love that susie and ralsei are real friends in this chapter! he taught her a healing spell!!
ugh. fucking berdly. so smug and pretentious. i love queen's desire to be as far away from him as possible though
i also like his backstory. it gives his behavior, even if it's still annoying, at least some context. i get the feeling of feeling like if you're not smart, people will forget about you, and that's scary.
ALSO ALSO. GAMER BERDLY. LITERALLY EVERYTHING ABOUT THAT IS PERFECT. "I THOUGHT YOU WERE A GAMER!" "i only play mobile games, berdly." "NOOOOOO!" like i ADORE that
anyways. time for me to talk about the only thing that matters in this world: suselle. i mean, did the gays win in this chapter or DID THE GAYS WIN IN THIS CHAPTER?? THEY RODE A HEART-COVERED FERRIS WHEEL AND HAD A HEARTFELT, TENSION-FILLED CONVERSATION!
"did you ever wonder why the real susie never picked on you? well, maybe it's because... when you were both new to class, you lent her one of your pencils, like... maybe a dumb one with candy canes on it or something, and... even though it didn't actually taste like candy, she... remembered your smile." okay god thanks toby it's not like i needed my heart or anything
SERIOUSLY. TOBY "i'm gonna give the gays everything they want" FOX IS BACK WITH ANOTHER BANGER LADS
QUEEN'S BOSS BATTLE! ACTUALLY TOUGH, UNLIKE KING'S! AND GIGA QUEEN! I'M GOING INSANE THAT WAS SO SICK AND SO HARD
the way my heart BROKE when lancer turned to stone good god thank GOD our boy's okay
AND ROUXLS KAARD IN HIS PIRATE DUCK!! WITH HIS LITTLE HAT! DEMANDING THE QUEEN MAKE HIM BUTLER SUPREMETH! I LOVE HIM MORE THAN LIFE ITSELF
also!! kris and ralsei's little moment on the swan boat💙 i wasn't a kralsei shipper before but uh... that may be starting to change
it's hard because ralsei's still suspicious but at the same time i love him and want him to be happy. i don't know how to feel
also, if darkners outside of their dark worlds turn to stone after a while, why didn't ralsei? that's, uhhh... VERY sus. very weird. mr fox i need ANSWERS
WE FINALLY HAVE A WAY TO SAVE AFTER WE'VE FINISHED MOST OF THE EPILOGUE LADS. REJOICE!!
seriously the thing that peeved me about ch1 was that the last save point was on the battle stage and if i wanted to play the epilogue again, i had to. do that entire battle all over. BUT NOW THAT'S BEEN FIXED!!
UNDYNE AND ALPHYS HAVE MET UNDYNE AND ALPHYS HAVE MET THIS IS NOT A DRILL UNDYNE GAVE HER A BOX OF CANDIES EVERYBODY SHUT UP THEY'RE IN LOVE ALL IS RIGHT WITH THE WORLD
ALSO! NEAR THE BEGINNING! I FORGOT TO MENTION THE LITTLE WHITE DOG DOING DONUTS IN A TOY RACE CAR AND BACKING UP TRAFFIC! THANK YOU LITTLE WHITE DOG!
on that note: "looks like a car. this one has a man in it. he waves at you happily." AND THEN THE MAN'S GONE??? HEY TOBY???
ALSO. THE SEGMENT WHERE THE ANNOYING DOG HELPS US FIND THE KEY THROUGH THE POWER OF WANTON DESTRUCTION. THE BEST PLOT DEVICE!
TORIEL TEACHING SUSIE TO MAKE PIE STOP ITTTTT
and yes yes i KNOW kris slashed toriel's tires. that was extremely troubling. but THEY MADE PIE TOGETHER!!
"leave the chalk alone, kris" TORIEL!!
sans and toriel making egg puns and asgore running in and going "don't forget me, your eggs-husband!" is the FUNNIEST sitcom moment type thing ever. GOD.
on the other hand sans let me meet your brother god dammit i'll kill you
METTATONNNNNNN
RUDY... "who got you these flowers?" "is it weird for a married man to get flowers?" "so your wife did?" "oh, no! kris's dad did!" "...not even gonna try to understand this..." TOBY STOP ITTTT YOU'RE GIVING THE ASGORUDY SHIPPERS FALSE HOPE. YOU KNOW YOU'RE JUST GONNA KILL RUDY. YOU'RE JUST RUBBING SALT IN THE WOUND!
NUBERT! MY MAN!
seeing kris repeatedly they-themmed by multiple characters makes me so happy <3 poor kid... "college summer vacation when" "you opened the door with your eyes closed. you saw nothing" kris....
KRIS...
fucking. BLACK FOG STORM IN THE LIVING ROOM KRIS STOP IT. HOW'RE THEY GONNA REVEAL THIS WAS INNOCENT? THE KNIFE IN CHAPTER ONE WAS EASY BUT HOW WILL THEY EXPLAIN THIS
the staticy tv appearing in the dark and a toothy smile slowly fading into view in the center and lingering there ominously for far too long >>>>>>> every hollywood horror movie ever god. GOD
snowy and monster kid checking out the red door. implying there's something in there. something that kris knows about. knowing we won't get any more deltarune content for 5+ years does NOT fill me with determination
also. gaster's symbolic theme being mus_smile. and the final image in the game being a smile. god. gaster's COMING lads.
onionsan hears a song at night... a familiar song... memory, perhaps? or maybe a certain... four-note arpeggio that's hidden in a sound test room in undertale? who knows? guess we'll just have to wait for chapters 3/4/5.
this concludes my ramblings for now, but don't get it twisted- this is FAR from the last post i'll make about ch2. this whole chapter was absolutely amazing! brilliant! showstopping!! i'm genuinely soooo super impressed and excited for the chapter 3/4/5 bundle!!!

I haven’t tried fighting spamton yet but I’ve seen Ralsei’s post fight dialogue…
I don’t think I trust Ralsei anymore.
He brushed it off too quickly. He dismissed it and made excuses too frequently. Hell even Kris doesn’t seem like it. When Ralsei offers to share his scarf and be close to Kris it’s implied by Ralsei that Kris immediately asks for Susie’s jacket instead.
Also butterscotch cinnamon? He’s definitely a derivative of the brother now. Also about the hug comment…
Tumblr media
It says “hugs like that”, which I’m interpreting as the huge lung crushing swept off your feet hugs. Kris accepts hugs from Toriel just fine. I assume Toriel would be all big about respecting Kris’ boundaries if she was aware of them not liking all hugs.
Tumblr media
So I wonder if Kris accepts Ralsei’s hugs because of the obvious brother parallels?
Ralsei is suspicious. Why are the people we spare called recruits now? Recruits for what? The word recruit just seems very specific. Also, did they ever explain why Ralsei can be in different Darkner worlds and others can’t? Is it because he’s the prince of the kingdom of darkness?
Something isn’t right with Ralsei. Makes me wonder if a version of Toriel is going to show up in the next Darkner world as the Queen of the Kingdom of Darkness. And if the next Darkner world is based around Kris’ home then we’re probably going to get a lot of insight into the family and the family members’ trauma. I am wholeheartedly expecting a scene about Asgore and Toriel’s separation next chapter.
And I’m even more hoping that if the family trauma bit does come to pass that it serves as a point of deeper connection between Susie and Kris because there’s no way in hell that Susie has a good home life.

Hey Char, been a while. I'm curious, did you play the Snowgrave route of chapter 2 and if so what were your thoughts? I played it and it makes me think of you with the horror elements, so I wondered if you gave it a go.
Hello, Bun! Long time, no see, indeed. I’m glad to hear you thought of me as I primarily associate playing Deltarune and Undertale with you (you were the one who bought me it in the first place, after all, and convinced me to play it. Even when I listen to the soundtrack I think specifically of how you enjoyed it!)
Also, Napstablook = Krickis as far as I am concerned. Where there is Napstablook, I am thinking of Krickis. On actual serious thoughts, the Snowgrave Route is certainly an exciting one. I have not played it myself (Kris and Noelle are so young and I can barely manage to play the genocide route in Undertale) but I did watch another person play through it and my thoughts are as follows: wow!
Toby Fox most definitely has a hidden penchant for horror and it’s planted all across Undertale and Deltarune (Alphy’s lab in the true pacifist run in Undertale immediately comes to mind.) It’s a lot to do with the environment and atmosphere he’s capable of building in all areas of the game creating process, whether it be music or art design or battle mechanics (I imagine with the help of others too, but unfortunately I’m not very familiar with who works on the games) and creepy seems to come easy to him! I know you didn’t ask about Spamton, but his boss battle is another fantastic example of this. That horror element is a lot more... nightmare-y, though, I suppose? What I mean to say is, it’s almost silly. It doesn’t feel as real as what’s happening with Kris actively throughout the game, or what happens to Berdly. Part of this is because fighting Spamton doesn’t have consequences (that are obvious to the player.) The worst that happens is that Kris appears to have a panic attack afterwards and is visibly upset by what they’ve been forced by us to witness, but what I like specifically about the Snowgrave Route is that this lasts and it’s really explored. The lasting consequence it seems to have on the psyche of Noelle and Kris and the implication of the entire route is horror through and through, in a fantastic, amazing, wowza way.
And now, because I am a little bit too excited to talk about this, an unedited and possibly impossible to read ramble about horror and Noelle and Kris below the cut. The way I describe the game and the role the player has might be upsetting, so please do not read unless you’re very comfortable with body control horror etc..
Deltarune isn’t a horror game but its premise mirrors one in multiple ways and I find that very fascinating. It is almost more unnerving that such horrible experiences are masked by the fun, whacky outer layers. One could play Deltarune and never find Jevil or Spamtom’s boss fight or play the Snowgrave route and remain blissfully unaware of what lurks beneath a very normal (if occasionally dark!) adventure story.
Despite this, there is a lot to be said about Kris and the player’s control over them, as well as some choice words from Noelle about Kris’ recent behaviour and demeanour. It’s hard not to assume that Kris is possessed by us. We can force them to say things but they can react to these dialogue choices and become visibly upset at the actions we force upon them, so even playing the game as intended without discovering anything remotely below the surface, it’s impossible to ignore what actually playing the game and controlling Kris does to them. Essentially, stripping away all of the scariest parts of Deltarune doesn’t matter, because its actual premise, where you play, not as Kris, but as an entity CONTROLLING Kris, is in itself horrific! Kris is a child, at most sixteen and I certainly believe younger than that, and no amount of drawing them weirdly tall and lanky and emo-y can change that.
Possession and inability to control one’s self are heavily utilised in horror. When you consider how many times you’ve watched someone be tied down, forced to witness whatever is happening to them in real time, or the general horror and gore associated with demon possession in even current mainstream movies like The Conjuring (or even a mix of both! Media that explores being trapped inside the body without any control while being possessed and the effects it has on your mind is not common enough) it’s easy to see the connections between a lot of horror tropes and Kris’ ‘problem’. Only thing is, we’re directly perpetuating this horror every time we play. We are the demon! We are the person who is strapping someone down and forcing them to witness horrific things by our hand! I mean, it’s just fantastic. Deltarune is by no means a horror but it certainly feels like it. I suppose that’s the power of implication!
Being more specific to the Snowgrave route (I promise the previous ramble was related!) the player extends this control to Noelle, arguably the most vulnerable and ‘helpless’ character in the game so far besides Kris themselves (and even then, that’s in a much more literal way.) unlike Kris, who physically has no choice, Noelle feels as though she has no choice. She’s a pushover and unable to prevent who she perceives as her childhood friend from forcing her to do things she doesn’t want to. Her relationship with her mother seems to play into this complex. Noelle has always been one of my favourite characters— even with what little we see of her in chapter one, she makes a lasting impression and it’s not surprising that people wanted her to be a party member in this chapter. (The irony!) But this newest chapter also furthers an interesting trait of hers, namely, her fascination with fear. She enjoys being scared, she gets a rush from being in dangerous situations, feeling unsafe. She says so herself, though she uses more external situations to explain it (scary forests, etc.) It certainly explains her crush on Susie, but in the Snowgrave Route, it really works against her. Or, we use it against her. At a first glance, what we do to her in the Snowgrave route is awful, and then, the more you think about it, the worst it gets (usually a trademark of excellent horror and great writing in general, in my opinion.) not only are we playing into her deepest insecurities (because remember, it’s not Kris doing this, or us playing AS Kris, it’s just we, the player) we are actively abusing her as a person. We force her to fight. We force her to hurt people. We do all this for power. And we do all this while simultaneously doing it to Kris as well! And forcing Kris to be our mouthpiece, forcing them to hurt their friend who they presumedly love and care for! Unlike Susie and Ralsei, Noelle’s opinion of us cannot affect our journey and she is easy to control, so we do it. And once again, these are kids! They are children! We are not fighting Sans Undertale to the death, we are actively abusing and controlling children, much to the detriment of their mental health and the physical health of those around them.
Details such as the watch and the blackened “conversation” we have with Noelle in the hospital really only add to the experience. The implication that Berdly has been seriously harmed and potentially killed by what we’ve done to him (or more accurately, forced Noelle to do to him) is handled really interestingly from the younger persons perspective, where he simply doesn’t wake up. I could really go on and on, but unfortunately time is a constraint and I don’t think what I’m saying is very easy to parse anyway.
To summarise: Snowgrave Route good. Very well-written. Deltarune is a horror in disguise, but I will continue to put my hands over my ears and pretend everything is okay, just like Mr Toby Fox would like me to do. Thank you very much for the ask, I hope you’re doing well! If you have any thoughts of your own, please share them with me. I’d be delighted to hear your opinion as a writer (horror or not.) :]

Deltarune: Two Ralsei Princes & Prinx Archa (2022)
----------------------------------------------------
Credit for Deltarune & Undertale goes to Toby Fox
---------------------------------
like it shows in this drawing, I do plan to post this over at Deviantart.
so the drawing will be both here and over there.
Archa is the sibling of Prince Ralsei (the version from Chapter 1.)
they are very protective of Ralsei, who they affectionately call “Rally”
kind of like how Asriel is called “Azzy”, so many of you might of guessed
that Archa’s name is a anagram of Chara.
they keep themself hidden the whole time when Ralsei meets Kris & Susie at Castle Town, but follows them (at first just Kris and Ralsei) outside to the Other Dark World/Card Kingdom, to keep a eye on them and step in if needed.
Archa wears the same outfit as their brother, only they have a spade instead of a heart on their cloak, the color of their cloak and hat is Aqua and so are their Glasses. their scarf is dark purple.
their eyes are light blue, their skin is dark blue, their rosy cheeks are blue.
and their hair color is a light aqua.
if the Ralsei that appears in Chapter 2 when Susie and Kris go back to the Dark World, isn’t the same one that we first meet in Castle Town in Chapter 1.
then I think Archa (who is still a OC of a Fanon Timeline/AU...)
would see the differences between that one and their brother,
for one they have known each other since they had adopted each other as siblings, and Archa knows that THEIR brother is the same height as both them and Kris, and their horns are smaller, while The Other Ralsei seems to be a few inches taller than Kris and has slightly longer horns.
another thing that Archa would notice, is that their brother’s feet are smaller than the Other Ralsei’s feet.
Archa might be a little like Chara, but with Other Darkners...
the only Darkner they see as a precious twilight of innocence that has to be protected at all cost, would be their adoptive brother Ralsei.
well both him, and Prince Lancer, who they start to secretly start to find to be another precious twilight of innocence that needs to be protected.
over time, Archa would slowly not be so Misanthrope with Other Darkners.
but they will fight any Lightner or Darkner who might try to harm their brother.
I’m not sure if Ralsei has any Parents and if he doesn’t, this would mean only one thing.....he might be a Orphan and the same can be said for Archa.
if they met by maybe the Delta Rune Door, Archa could of used to live on the other side or had lived at another Dark World that is Unknown....
maybe a Doll Kingdom, I don’t know....maybe that could work...?
I just wanted to draw a sibling for Ralsei who is also a type of Darkner Counterpart of Chara from Undertale.
even if Kris is a counterpart of both Chara & Frisk...
Archa can be a type of counterpart as well, and they live in the Dark World with their adoptive brother.
Archa’s Royal Title being “Prinx” makes sense because of obvious reasons.
and well if they are a Nonbinary Girl, then they could go by both Prinx & Princess, as well as They/Them & She/Her.
and maybe go by Enby & Girl....I mean some versions of them would.
Archa might know that when Kris falls asleep, the Hollow-Soul in their body takes over and rips out their Red Soul out.
I think a Hollow-Soul doing that at the end of both Chapter 1 and 2 so far,
makes sense....a Hollow-Soul is like a Soulless Heart type thing, but it has no filling in the middle and it’s like a heart shaped hole in the middle.
also even though I will be posting this same drawing on the other place I post art (and I know I still have to do the same with a few others...)
but I don’t want this to be reblog on here without my okay with it...
that is why the tag “do not reblog without permission” is on this.
anyway hope some of you like the idea about Ralsei having a sibling named Archa, who is kind of named after Chara.
and if Ralsei is the same age as Kris and Susie, then it would make sense for Archa to be the same age as those three as well.
Archa could use different types of weapons to fight, when Mercy isn’t a option right away.
like they could use either a fencing sword, boxing gloves or a Hammer.
like a type of Hammer like Amy Rose or The Mario Bros use.
the Hammer could be their favorite thing to use out of the other two.
maybe I will draw Archa again sometime, even if they might not become very famous, I’m fine with that.
they are a OC and I will still like them even if they don’t become famous or end up being drawn by others, even if some might want to draw them, I be fine with it so long as I am given Credit.
anyway I’m going to check out some art on here before I post up FNAF theory.
and when I am able to, I will draw Prinx Archa The Sibling Of Ralsei again.
this is my first drawing of Archa, so I will do a second drawing of them.

Deltarune Chapter 2: My take
Tumblr media
I made these awhile ago but never found the right time to post them, and since Toby has already posted stuff on twitter about his plans, I thought I might as well. This is just a fanfic basically, obvious Deltarune Chapter 1 spoilers in bound.
Chapter 2 would start off with Kris waking up and easily getting out of bed, they flash a smile at the still trapped soul which you control and leave through the door. After a few seconds you can oscillate between left and right to eventually topple the wagon over, opening the cage door and letting you escape. You can’t change rooms due to just being a soul, so you move the soul under Asriel’s bed, now in control of your new vessel.
Tumblr media
Asriel’s old plush, Snuffles. Obvious everyman reference in design also. As you make your way through the house, there’s a little escape gameplay element where you need to leave without being noticed by Toriel. Snuffles is hard to control, and can occasionally flop over if moved too fast. It’s made obvious that this is not a preferred vessel but currently it’s the only option you’ve got.
Your goal is to take back control.
Managing to leave the house, you shamble your way but collapse in front of the gated entrance to Noelle’s home, some time passes and Noelle finds your plushy bottom fallen on the street.
Tumblr media
She’s wondering who lost their toy, and thinks the kid who lost this must be feeling pretty sad right now. She briefly mentions having to go see Kris and Susie since they want to show her something, and so she doesn’t have the time to find the kid who owns this. She thinks aloud about bringing this to the lost and found at the police station.
Noelle carries the plush to the police station, Undyne opens the door, Napstablook can be heard telling her that it isn’t office hours but Undyne tells them to sit tight since it’ll be quick. Noelle says she wants to hand over the plush to the police since somebody lost it. Undyne replies something like “Hell yeah! I’ve been wanting to buy a new punching bag!” This throws Noelle off and she reconsiders handing you to the police and instead is walking closer to the school while still holding on to the plush.
As she is walking, a familiar theme can be heard getting louder and louder, until BAM. Noelle loses her balance, falls, and the plush flies out of her hands and into a bush. She is knocked out.
Who is the person who accidently knocked her out? Why it’s the average at best Papyrus!
Tumblr media
Papyrus drops Noelle off at the clinic to heal, but accidentally (or maybe not) keeps the plush. The scene jumpcuts to Papyrus in the school in the classroom full of random cards. He puts Snuffles down next to the Seam plush, and starts cleaning the room up, talking aloud how he’s doing a favor for his brother. He talks about how his brother is going to be starting a new job as a teacher here, making a callback to the line “haven’t you heard of a guy with multiple jobs?”.
Kris comes into the room, this is the hangout session they promised to do yesterday. Papyrus introduces himself, and Kris actually talks.
Tumblr media
Papyrus talks abit about himself to liven the mood. Kris talks about how it’s a good thing that everything is being moved into a single place, but mentions how they hope nothing gets lost. As Kris looks through the items in the room, they pause when they end up at Snuffles. They ask Papyrus where he got this plush, Papyrus responds saying he picked it up from one of Santa’s henchmen, Kris mentions how “odd” that is-- this is their brother’s favorite stuff animal. It’s a precious family heirloom. One would perish the thought of breaking into the Dreemurr household and stealing this prized possession which holds so much value.
Tumblr media
It might end up horribly if that person didn’t consider the consequences of their actions.
Papyrus laughs it off, and thinks that they’ve spent enough time cleaning the room. Sans can do the rest himself! Papyrus asks if Kris would want to go on a picnic with him in the other part of town, Papyrus being the amazing friend candidate he is had a picnic prepared filled with his favorite dish-- pizza.
Kris humbly denies, saying that they have prior plans with a few friends but hopes Papyrus goes anyway just to enjoy themselves and possibly see some more of the town.
Papyrus is disheartened but says it’s fine. The scene jumps to Papyrus having a picnic set in the park, and Papyrus starts talking to Snuffles. Papyrus is talking to the plush as if it were alive, like you would a stuffed teddy bear, and the Player is able to answer prompts to imply emotions. Each time you answer a question, Papyrus drinks some more orange soda, and when he’s gouging around in the picnic basket to try and find some you are given control over the plush again.
You move closer to the water, and there is somebody waiting for you.
Tumblr media
Not a single word is spoken. You know what you have to do. You have an appointment you promised yesterday to be at.
Tumblr media
The sound of the engine roars to life, and you dash off towards the center of the lake.
The riverperson speaks:
“Long ago...
Two races ruled the earth.
But you already knew that, right?”
You’ve reached your destination, a decrepit island, overgrown but showing signs of life. There is a giant concrete structure, the only identifier being a sign which says “LAB”. You enter, a display monitor shows a camera feed focused on Snuffles. You move forward and in the center of the room there is a pool, Snuffles is frozen in place. Bubbles appear. More bubbles. And slowly from the murky depths....
Tumblr media
Rises exactly who you needed to see.
With the help of your new friend, you manage to enter the Dark world.
Tumblr media
You control the Everyman as you make your way through the Labyrinth, a Dark World filled with fish life, anime references, dog food, and a floating head who calls itself Your Only Friend. Eventually as you continue to explore, you end up on the opposite end of an encounter with Kris, Noelle, and Susie. Lancer and Ralsei are with them. You fight back but are defeated, torn to shreds, Kris dealing the killing blow. Everything fades to black as the classroom fades into view.
Tumblr media
Susie wonders what the hell happened, they didn’t seal off the fountain of darkness that popped up in the Labyrinth... did they? Noelle then suggests maybe the plush itself was the source of Darkness. Kris says “Good riddance.”
The camera pans upwards into the black part of the room, black fading in to cover anything still visible.
You are back at similar sequence to the start of Chapter 1.
CONNECTION HAS BEEN SEVERED.
A VESSEL IS REQUIRED TO CONTINUE.
CONTINUE?
Y/N
If you select N, this pops up
“AND SO THE WORLD STOPPED SPINNING.”
and the game closes itself.
If you select Y, this pops up
“DON’T YOU HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO?”
Asgore’s flower room fades into view. He’s watering the flowers and taking every care of them. The destroyed Snuffles is seen in the other part of the room. He pulls out a needle and thread.
“Asriel’s going to be here any day now... Seeing Snuffles in this state would leave him with a lot of heartache...”
Asgore goes to the plush and you can see him start to repair it, facing towards the wall.
The golden flower in the center of the room starts to shake.
A red soul appears above, and descends into the flower.
The flower shakes. It convulses violently.
Tumblr media
And you’re exactly where you were meant to be.
[ END CHAPTER 2.]

DELTARUNE
So, there are plenty of allusions/paralles to Undertale in Deltarune and some easter eggs. I’ve made a list of the ones that I managed to find/catch. I’m pretty sure there are more of them.
1. There is an easter egg with naming your vessel and yourself. Like in Undertale using names of characters from the game will trigger a special dialogue (and like in Undertale naming your vessel or yourself “Gaster” will close the game).
Tumblr media
2. When you look through the window in your room there is reference to Sans’ genocide fight.
Tumblr media
3. A reference to Tsundere Cactus from Undertale, but in Deltarune it’s just an average cactus.
Tumblr media
4. Recognizing yourself in the mirror.
Tumblr media
5. Toriel hugs Kris almost the same way she hugs Frisk.
Tumblr media
6. Alphys is still a weeaboo obsessed with Mew Mew ^^
Tumblr media
7. Temmie still has the EG, but this time she is a partner not a proud parent.
Tumblr media
8. If you try using your phone in the Dark World it will start making “Gaster noises”.
Tumblr media
9. Ralsei’s cloak resembels the one that River Person wears (could River Person be a Darkner?)
Tumblr media
10. Lancer’s bike might be a reference to Sans’ bike from the True Pacifist credit scene.
Tumblr media
11. How Ralsei introduces us to the game mechanics is like a combination of both Flowey’s and Toriel’s tutorials. Telling what a soul is and how the fighting works is “Flowey’s part” and usage of Dummy and sparing being a preferable option is “Toriel’s part”.
Tumblr media
12. Possibly a parallel to comforting a goatbro (Ralsei is a Goat/Boss Monster and a prince just like Asriel).
Tumblr media
13. The shopkeepr hints a secret battle with Jevil in the early stage of the game.
Tumblr media
15. The plush that Seam has on a shelf has is a reference to one of the Temmie Chang’s (she helped Toby create Undertale) characters, but I couldn’t find a picture of it.
Tumblr media
16. Seam also gives us hints that Jevil knows Gaster. Here’s a video with a full dialogue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PukI_JTyVg
Tumblr media
17.  The crown that K. Round wears might be reference to Super Crown, but the way it works is a ref to the big shroom power up. The sound that K. Round makes while growing up and shrinking is very similar to the sound from Mario games.
Tumblr media
18. It is surely a reference to Sans’ room door (the weird glow), but it may also have something to do with Gaster’s grey door.
Tumblr media
19. The sequence that Lancer and Susie perform is possibly a reference to Team R’s sequence from Pokemon series.
Tumblr media
20. Possibly an Undertale Yellow easter egg? (the main charater is named Clover in UT:Y)
Tumblr media
21. Even if you got rid of that tree you can still interact with it and get the dialogie box.
Tumblr media
22. Lancer misses his attacks on Susie the same way Toriel does that when Frisk has low HP.
Tumblr media
23. The theme that plays on floor ?????? inside the Card Castle uses the leitmotif of Gaster’s Theme. (can’t find a link with the theme)
Tumblr media
24. A reference to Patrick from cartoon “Spongebob Squarepants”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNZSXnrbs_k
Tumblr media
25. Another Pokemon’s reference.
Tumblr media
26. You can interact with these pictures, when you interact with all 3 of them they’ll make a splat noise. I’m not sure if it does anything else.
Tumblr media
27. Lancer has the same weird pics in his room, you can interact with them too, but they won’t make splat noise. But on the other hand there are CDs with recorded splat noises (the same that 3 previous pics make).
Tumblr media
28. She talks about the cake that Susie ate ealier.
Tumblr media
29. A missing pixel lmao
Tumblr media
30. The cards and chess are references to the enemies from Dark World. There’s also a plushie of Shopkeer Seam under the board.
Tumblr media
31. Kris looks similar to unused Frisk sprite.
Tumblr media
32. The word “library” is still misspelled.
Tumblr media
33. Temmie still wants to go to colleg. That’s the spirit!
Tumblr media
34. Apparently Alphys prefers Mew Mew 2 now.
Tumblr media
35. Heats Flamesman reference.
Tumblr media
36. Just Toby at work.
Tumblr media
37. He’s slacking off however.
Tumblr media
38. We finally know after which monster Gaster Follower 3 was modeled.
Tumblr media
39. Deltarune is definitely a different universe/timeline, cause Undyne doesn’t know Alphys and she still has both eyes. Also Bratty and Catty not only barely know each other, but they hate each other as well (in Undertale they are best friends).
Tumblr media
40. On the left - dude who bought Muffet’s donut and regreted that later on, on the right - that weirdo from Napstablook’s snail farm.
Tumblr media
41. Police station and Undyne’s house share the same doormat.
Tumblr media
42. The big mouth monster that was spending time at Grillby’s, also a possible reference to nurse Joy from Pokemon series.
Tumblr media
43. A reference to the absurdly tall sink from skelebros’ house. (also that blue bear might be inspired by 5.0.5 from Villainous)
Tumblr media
44. Gerson is dead in Deltarune, also his last name is Boom. The hammer on his tombstone refers to his “nickname from war times” from Undertale - Hammer of Justice.
Tumblr media
45. The tombstones of monster who were amalgamates in original Undertale, but since in Deltarune Alphys was never a Royal Scientist, all of this monsters just died. From left to right - Snowdrake’s Mother, the dog (Endogeny), Shyren sister (Lemon Bread).
Tumblr media
46. Hand Receptionist from MTT Resort and politics bear from Snowdin.
Tumblr media
47. That weird cube-dog-like monster from Sans’ crossword.
Tumblr media
48. A reference to Purple Guy from game series FNAF (in Deltarune Burgerpants works at Pizzeria after all, hello?! it must be it xD).
Tumblr media
49. A bunny shopkeepr from Snowdin, the guy who works in Core, the Ice Wolf (and he finally has pants as he wanted), Fuku Fire and Skateboard girl (but they already graduated), the lion monster who is a fan of Mettaton and gets a dress from him after his musical, and the dragon dude who couldn’t return to his family cause the elevator at MTT Resort was turned off.
Tumblr media
50. Sans’ store is literally Grillby’s bar, but the name “Grillby” was removed and Sans added “ans” to the letter “S”. But he didn’t remove apostrophe. Well done Sans, well done.
Tumblr media
51. A reference to Spider-Man, “I’m your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man”. Sans even calls Kris “tiger” which is how MJ calls Peter (I forgot to make a screenshot of it tho).
Tumblr media
52. F#ck you Sans xD
Tumblr media
53. “trousle of bones” - it obviously refers to Papyrus’ theme Bonetrousle.
Tumblr media
54. Little bunny in the window is a child of that bunny monster who runs Snowdin Inn.
Tumblr media
55. A monster from Snowdin who loves knocks lives there. And apparently Kris is not as good at knocking as Frisk is.
Tumblr media
56. In the alley where you meet Alphys again there is a painting of Everyman (attack of Reaper Bird - one of the amalgamates). You can’t escape from your sins Alphys, even in another universe/timeline.
Tumblr media
57. Asgore’s introduction dialogue in Deltarune is literally the same as in Undertale.
Tumblr media
58. These flowers are an obvious allusion/parallel to the souls containers. The golden flower in the middle might be representing the empty container for Frisk’s determination soul. If you remember, in Undertale Alphys used a golden flower as a empty vessel to inject determination and that flower became Flowey later on.
Tumblr media
59. RG01 and RG02 are still together, and for some reason they are still wearing helmets even tho the Royal Guard is most likely not a thing in Deltarune xD
Tumblr media
60. If you wait long enough by the lake Onionsan will appear. He will ask what’s our name and will want to become friends. He also doesn’t remember his own name due to being alone for too long, so we have an option to gave him one.
Tumblr media
61. He also might have a dark secret hehe
Tumblr media
62. So there is most likely Mettaton, but we have no idea what’s up with Blooky. I’m hoping that in chapter 2 we will find out Mettaton’s canon ghost form and maybe his real name. Also I doubt that in Deltarune Mettaton has machine body, since Alphys never was a Royal Scientist in this universe/timeline.
Tumblr media
63. Chara possession much? also a hint to the ending of Deltarune chapter 1
Tumblr media
64. After Kris locks his soul in the cage you can still move it, but you can’t escape.
Tumblr media
65. The glowing red eyes, Post Genocide Pacifist vibes are strong in this one.
Tumblr media
These are all the allusions/parallel and easter eggs I was able to find. I’m sure there are more. Also there are some that I forgot to screenshot such as “characters titles” in party menu change: - Kris has a title of Leader, but if you check all 4 beds in Card Castle he has a title of Bed Inspector - Ralsei title changes after giving him different scarf There’s also at least one Annoying Dog easter egg in the party menu. Not to mention the anagrams: Deltarune - Undertale Ralsei - Asriel So yeah, that’s all folks. Hope you enjoyed, bye!

Krisei Zodiac Event Aries Week
Aries Zodiac Sign Info Gotten From:
https://www.horoscope.com/zodiac-signs/aries
“The first sign of the Zodiac, Aries are the trailblazers. Passionate and independent, Aries will never do something just because everyone else is doing it—a Ram needs to be 100 percent committed to the task at hand. Competitive to the max, the best way to motivate an Aries is to turn something into a contest. Aries will put everything they have (and then some) into winning. Loyal, smart, and impulsive, they always have multiple projects on their mind, and won't be satisfied until their work, social life, and personal lives line up exactly with the dream life they've envisioned. Those who are drawn to magnetic Aries may have trouble keeping up—but if they can, they'll have a friend for life.”
🔥Aries Week
Day 1: *when Susie Dares you on a blind date*
The candlelights were lovely tonight. Shining brightly against the otherwise dark room, making shadows dance across the walls and adding a certain flare to the whole scene. The few rays of light that didn't make the darkness dance were shining off the small pile of food in front of them, making them hungry. But he couldn't care less about those food right now, right now he was more nervous about the real gem in front of himself.
The monster’s white fur sparkled against his beautiful  face, delicate pink eyes fluttered those lashes at him and if he wasn't already sitting down, he would've fallen over from nerves alone. Luckily being frozen meant he didn't have to worry about sweating in front of him. He had a whole new other set of worries though. Like did he put everything together ok? Did Susie warn him enough? Did she give him the right wine for this thing? Oh gosh he hoped she didn't give him apple juice. Not that the goat monster seemed to mind though. He was smiling that beautiful grin of his.
"I must say, Kris. I wasn’t expecting to be asked by Susie to meet a man in such a dashing suit.~" He glanced down to the wine bottle in his hand before back to him and giving a chuckle. Making him smile his nervous grin wider, "I never suspected you'd be one of such class.”
Kris chuckled nervously and pulled at the bowtie around his neck, "U-Uh. Y-Y-Yeah, I honesty didn't know if you'd agree to g-going out with a plain old human like me. ...UH! N-Not to say y-you're selfish or anything!" His face became more scared when he had realized what he had said. Holding his hands up. "I-I just meant that you might not have wanted to g-go with me since you're way out of my league...U-UM! N-Not saying you're one of s-s-shallow and stuck up nobles! Because obviously you're not!"
The monster chuckled at his obvious flustering. But not in a bad way, on the contrary. He thought this little scene was absolutely adorable. And the lengths he went through, though not as fancy as other dates he went on, it was still so sweet how he went through all the trouble of putting this all together just for him. Kris froze when he heard the dark prince chuckle but Ralsei didn't look mad in the slightest.
"It's quite alright.~ I must say the set up has been quite sweet thus far.~"
Kris stared at him in disbelief. "Y-You..You really m-mean it?"
He chuckled again. "Yes, and I can’t wait for this to happen again.”
“D-Don’t worry. That’s a promise.”
Day 2:*boldly taking the first kiss*
One moment.
That's all that it took. One small breath moment to have the two freezing up and staring at each other in silent shock. The two silently stared at each other for what seemed like forever- ....It wasn't supposed to happen you know. All this time just going through the steps together, gracefully gliding across the ballroom floor all alone..It was just supposed to help him learn, not to start gazing into each other's eyes for weeks on end in private after hours, admiring his strength. His booming laughter. His slowly steadying grace to the movements he was asked to teach the giant monarch. It was never supposed to come to a folly such as this. What cruel entity up above thought it'd be a great idea to push them together and set thing strange fate? If he had any sense, he would excuse himself, pretended it never happened, and move on with their lives...
But-
His paws slowly gripped tighter around him and one look already told him he couldn't get away even if he flung his whole body forward. Not that he wanted too anyways. Eyes slowly closing. The giant paws gently bringing them closer. And in a last flee from sane thinking or any other life boggling mysteries about this whole thing-
They kissed.
Day 3:*taking that bold leap forward and taking your relationship to the next level*
Bells toiled with the distance and blinding white decorations coated the entirety of Card Castle's halls. One could smell and taste the sweet smell of the decorative flowers and the amount of deserts on the table nearby. OH what a wonderful delight to the senses this fine day was. And it was all the better for the two who's the entire celebration was for. One couple who's hardships and difficulties were no match against their hope. WHo's love despite the impossibilities that should've been there to begin with, wasn't shattered or gone away. Oh! They were tested for sure. Thick and thin. With tears shed, labored sweat, and much fighting for it. But still gained none the less. A testament for the outstanding bravery they had faced all for this one important day they had only dreamt of until now.
But with the rings slipped on his fingers. The smile on his face. The happy tears making the make up drip down his cheeks. Happy sobbing and awes from watching crowds. There was only one thing he could possibly say to something like this-
"I do."
Day 4: *boldly choosing to leave your own world to live with the one you love*
The warm bed hugged their bodies as they curled up to each other. The soft pillows and mattress was supposed to bring one comfort along with the blankets in times of rest. That was their job. That's what they were supposed to do wasn't it? The comfort of sleep was supposed to be a relaxing experience to have for all. But unfortunately sleep didn't come easily tonight, not when the one next to you was tossing and turning, and eventually woke you up with his grumbling and kicking. Oh no it simple wouldn't do at all. Not just for his own sanity, oh he could worry about that later, but the giant next to him. He couldn't just leave that be. Oh that would simply not do at all.
Currently the supposed to be silent room was alive with soft humming and little mumbles of sobs and chokes. The larger of the two had himself buried within the comforting embrace of the much smaller man as he continued to let out the sorrows of that night.
"I miss him, Ralsei. I-....I sometimes f-feel like..I betrayed her with this!"
He shushed the human. Patting his back, "No, no thou didn't. he would've understood. he wouldn't have thought bad of you."
"I-I d-don't-..."
He shushed him again, letting the two of them slightly rock back and forth. “You’ll be alright. Im here to help you."
Day 5:* Ralsei makes a bold move to contact the human*
It'll be ok just breath. Everything was going to be alright. There was totally not a chance this was going to blow up in his face, and he had zero chance of really embarrassing himself again in front of a potential hero. Yep! All he had to do was relax and not do anything to embarrass himself as always. YES! EVERYTHING WOULD BE TOTALLY FINE!!! He gave a couple more big gulps of air into his lungs as his body did the usual totally not nervous habits of tapping his foot, and wringing his hands together as he nervously kept staring up at the large door awaiting the approaching two. There he was....The hero. Well heroes but he wasn’t looking at the tall lady. Instead at the handsome hero of sparkling red eyes and fair blue skin as he walked towards the dark Prince. Ralsei could barely speak. Thank goodness his embarrassed face was hidden by the cloak. He swallowed the lump in his throat and spoke.
“Greeting Heroes...”
Day 6:* Kris contemplates his own family and the one he grew up with*
How does one decide another's worth? How does one predict another's personality or their impact they leave behind? Well unless you can see into the future and know for sure what you're dealing with then you're in for surprises. Which is what happened to him not too long ago. He could admit(just to himself) that he never expected to be surprised by someone he originally perceived as an easy pawn to his own needs. He never expected to be the one drawn to something so opposite of himself. But here he was, one moment minding himself the next-
The small child happily laughed and hugged the other man who was holding him. A strange family to one seeing it from the outside, but one he was more comfortable and familiar with over time. One he had to learn to accept but it was worth it in the end. But that brings up another question. What exactly made up a family? Most would picture a small house with a picket fence, a mom and dad, and a little boy and girl running around. But truth is it's not always that simple. Family is beyond blood or marriage.
It's who's always making you smile and there for you.
Day 7: *A kiss during a play is a forward move*
*Highschool drama club au*
The bright lights on the stage was almost blinding to the eyes of the ones on stage, and the audience but they weren't important right now. The glowing white light reflected perfectly off the two as they stood there wrapped in each other's embrace. Of course to the audience this was just another act of the school drama clun, and the ridicules costumes they were wearing for said performance were uncomfortable, but the way they was being held. The way the dashing prince's outfit fitted him. The way the white light shined off his beautiful features, no matter how artificial this role was, was absolutely breathtaking to them.
His handsome smile and fluttering eyelashes were to die for.
"And so. The Princess was safely returned to the Kingdom of Monsters," the narrator shouted somewhere on the stage to their right, but they barely paid attention. They were more focused on what the last part of the play script meant for them and their beautiful goat prince afterwards. "And the brave Prince was rewarded with her hand in marriage. They spent the rest of their lives together and lived happily ever after!"
The audience cheered in celebration and internally so did they when the prince finally got the oh so awaited kiss that was so rightfully his. It seemed like years before they pulled apart staring into each other's smile.
"Happily ever after, My Prince.~"
"Happily Ever After to US, Kris.~"

[deltarune spoilers] on Susie
okay i'm gonna do my best to stay objective here and not biased towards my favourite character in the game, but there's a couple of observations i really wanna make about Susie, and i'll do my best to format them well.
i. despite appearances, Susie is not a habitual bully.
of course, this doesn't really change the fact that she slammed Kris into a locker or beat up a bunch of people in the dark world. but there's quite a bit of evidence that she usually doesn't hurt the kids around her.
the main thing is some very pointed dialogue with Monster Kid in the final walkaround. they tell you how bad Susie is, but for some reason, the worst example they can think of is when she was kind of quiet and then accidentally kicked a ball into Undyne's car. by the sound of it, Undyne wasn't even mad. it seems like, if Susie usually threatens to eat people's faces off and make them do her homework... somehow the news hasn't gotten around? none of the other kids seem to have any idea about anything Susie might have done wrong, either. i think that's why Kris gets angry on her behalf—they recognise that, at least in one respect, Susie is like them: a social outcast, and mocked for being one.
of course, bullies—including school bullies—are not usually insecure, "troubled", isolated kids lashing out, as the rhetoric often goes, but are more likely to be socially skilled and very experienced, often manipulating and exploiting the people around them. (here's one source that covers a variety of factors, and has links to more.) given this, it's surprising that Susie falls so much into the former category, and it's part of why i feel she doesn't quite fit the label of "bully", used in its strictest sense.
again, we can't forget that she's done a lot to mistreat the people around her. but apart from how she treated Kris at the start, she shows neither experience nor interest in taking advantage of anyone. she self-isolates, refuses to cooperate with people, and never does anything except to drive the people around her away. almost as soon as she meets Lancer, though, her tune changes.
ii. Susie is badly in need of support, physically and emotionally.
this seems kind of obvious, and about the middle of the game Susie pretty much says it, but let's get into it anyway!
it's when Susie meets Lancer that we see the first signs of sentimentality in her. Lancer is younger than her, talkative, naïve, and friendly—but unlike Ralsei, he looks up to her. and when he thanks her, she has absolutely no clue how to react.
this ties into an earlier point—it would have been easy for a different person to take that praise in stride, and to use Lancer's high opinion to get favours and money (he's a prince after all!) while giving nothing back to him but the coolness of getting to be the friend of some one with such an evil laugh. in fact, you'd expect that kind of behaviour from some one who threatens people into doing group projects for them, right?
but Susie takes to Lancer like a cat to a keyboard in use. she's always around him, she does whatever he does, and she never puts him down, abandons him, or blames him for their failures. she owns all their projects despite them being apparently as different as night and day. they get along because they both genuinely like and want to be liked by each other. it's a beautiful friendship, even when they're kind of trying to beat up Kris and Ralsei?
anyway.
i feel there's strong evidence that all this is because Lancer is the first person in a long, long time to show Susie any positive attention. (bear in mind that—while Ralsei is genuinely a sweet and good person—all he's done at that point is try and cajole her into not defending herself!) that's why it gets through her armour so easily when he praises her, and when she thinks he's betrayed her. that's why she jumps to join his side, and that's why at every juncture after that she thinks of his wants and needs first. that bond is instrumental in getting Lancer to help the three of them, but it's also instrumental in getting Susie to come around to Lancer's unfailing positivity, and to compromise with the more hopeful outlook that Ralsei has.
as a bit of a side note, there's some indication that Susie isn't doing so well physically either. her clothes in the light world are ragged, her pants have holes, and while it's possible that that's a fashion statement, she also mentions that she "hasn't had anything for breakfast but chalk"—she's eating it because she's hungry. what's her home situation? who knows?
iii. Susie's cruel and violent actions are a defence mechanism.
this again feels really obvious, but it's interesting how it ties into certain ideas about self-defence and fighting in the original Undertale.
Susie fights people. she fights them until their hp runs out—in Deltarune, this means until they run away, and that's a crucial difference from Undertale, where you could absolutely kill people without giving them a chance to flee.
Susie threatens people, turns down their help, turns down their kindnesses and insults anything they offer her. (until Lancer, that is.)
and she basically never seems to want anything in doing this, except to get other people to leave her alone. even what she did to Kris makes sense in this light—she immediately assumes that they're going to tell on her, and given the attitudes of some of the other kids, that's maybe not unreasonable. she threatens them until she's convinced herself that they wo'n't, and as a final note, she makes sure they wo'n't have any reason to talk to her or ask her for anything. it's still a nasty thing to do! but it makes sense.
when the two of them fall into the dark world, Susie goes on a bit of a rampage, fighting off anyone in her way—soldiers, that is. even if they're unwilling soldiers, they still fight, they still try to kill her for being a lightener—and she fights back, until they give up and run away.
she thinks she can threaten Lancer into doing the same, since he's the leader of the forces trying to kill them, and she gets the surprise of her life.
(shame on her for devouring that cake so messily, though. i know she was starving, and it recovers hp, but she could at least have apologised afterwards...)
she doesn't just fight when it works—during the first k. crown battle, no matter how much it heals, she keeps on attacking. no matter how much she's hurt, she keeps on attacking. afterwards, she refuses to believe that she was in the wrong—it's not just that it's worked so far, it's also that she needs it to always work, to always have worked... until she's finally opened up enough to trust, to acknowledge, that there might be another way.
* ♥ *
in summary! i believe that Susie at the start of Deltarune is genuinely a mean and unpleasant high school kid—mistrustful and misanthropic and vulnerable, inclined to hurt the people around her so that they wo'n't hurt her first. but from the start, she's also able to change. she has kindness and compassion and love inside her, carefully protected and never used. from the beginning, she's not the kind of person who wants to take advantage of others. she's afraid, angry, bitter, and badly in need of a friend. i love her.

Alright, so I’ve mentioned what Noelle would be like entering the Dark World in little bits before, but since it’ll probably become more common soon (winks at @deltagram & @vibrantsouled), I felt she needed a more thorough HC dump.
Appearance-
Alright, so this is pretty much the design I’ve accepted as canon in my head, but for the sake of levity & preservation, I’ll put the design into text based on what I see in my mind’s eye when I think of her falling into a closet.
Her Dark World outfit is, for all intents and purposes, a more Christmas-y Red Riding Hood costume; a dress skirt, blouse, and a little poncho/cloak thing with fluffy, Santa-esque frills. The outfit is primarily red with the Santa-fluff being a minty green instead of white; the same color as her hair is tinted when there.
In terms of items on her person, her “weapons” are instruments, as she’s classed as a bard. She starts with a simple bell, and if her gear is properly upgraded would end up with a lyre; all of which, oddly enough, she can play despite never having held an instrument in her life... only in the Dark World.
She also has a “stocking of holding”, which is basically just a colorful version of the purse she has normally, that has “theoretically infinite storage”. However, it’s already full of a crazy amount of swords (AKA this is a joke and if you get it ily).
Abilities-
As I mentioned before, Noelle is a bard; specifically one built for the role of support. I’ve had a lot of ideas about things she could do in an effort to make her distinct from Ralsei, and here’s what I’ve come up with as far as spells:
At the start of the adventure, Noelle would have “one” spell very simply labeled “Play a Song”; with the flavor text explaining she has numerous songs, all beneficial to the entirety of the party, that she’ll randomly choose from.
Upon choosing the spell, she’ll play one of these; each coming with a short (ten seconds & skippable) bit of audio that silences the current battle music (think Shyren’s singing in Undertale) before the effect goes through.
Song of Heart- Made up from pieces of Toriel motifs (Fallen Down & Heartache), grants a regeneration buff to all members of the party so they’ll regenerate health each turn for three turns, at a rate decent enough to be useful, but not enough to overshadow Ralsei’s targeted healing.
Song of Tenacity- Made up from pieces of Undyne motifs (Waterfall & Spear of Justice), grants a “haste” buff to Kris’s SOUL for three turns, letting it move faster & giving it longer invincibility frames.
Song of Gusto- Made up from pieces of Mettaton’s motifs (Metal Crusher & Death by Glamour), grants a significant DEF buff to the party.
Notes: All of them sound Christmas-y, regardless of motifs. Songs will directly continue from where they left off the last time you got the chance to use them, and if the audio was manually put together would form full songs.
Simple Motif Choice Explanations:
Toriel heals you if you’re injured in Undertale.
You have to RUN AWAY from Undyne in Undertale.
Mettaton (as a box) has the highest DEF in Undertale.
I honestly just wanted to add a bit of flair, since music was one of the main appeals of Undertale for me, and a bard could really show that off.
During a crucial moment akin to the Spade King fight, where Noelle’s will may change, her “Play a Song” spell will be replaced by a “Song of Hopes & Dreams”; as is probably obvious, the song would be made up of Asriel motifs (SAVE the World, His Theme, and obviously Hopes & Dreams), and would grant the benefits of the previous thee songs all at once.
Noelle very likely has access to more songs than these for interactions and stuff, but these are what I’d see her having in actual gameplay terms.
Aside from that, Noelle has another useful ability in the form of an ACT rather than a SPELL: if she’s a part of the party long enough to see a type of enemy get spared (not pacified) three times, afterwards she’ll permanently have a unique ACT option for those specific enemies at all times labeled “Gift”.
This results in her, who would’ve thought, giving a fully wrapped Christmas gift to the enemy in question unique to them; usually relating to whatever their spare conditions were. This results in the enemy immediately leaving the battle overjoyed with their present, skipping any required sparing steps.
She needs to see an enemy leave the battle on their own accord three times first so that she knows what makes them happy and can come up with a gift.

Prediction for Deltarune Chapters 2-7
 -Spoilers under the cut-
Chapter 2:A fourth player joins the team but it’s not Noelle, it’s Jockington (A Gunner) who only needed to get a pencil. There’s a second fountain in need of closing and Ralsei is concerned about the fourth member. Kris is still mostly sane at this point. Lancer returns but this time as a good guy and this time they fight in a town full of stuffed animals. They seal the fountain and the three return to the outside world. After defeating the boss of this world, Susie also shows Kris that she did her work some point in the chapter and Kris says that they’re starting theirs. Jockington makes a joke about how they might be a thing which Susie gets all angry at. Kris then goes home, learns omnisans secret, and works on the project for a little bit, tearing their soul out and mentioning that “you are not in control of me.” Chapter 3:Susie and Kris go to China town, literally, unaware that they’re getting followed by Catti (summoner). She was curious why Kris and Susie had been skipping class lately. She says she’s gonna tell Alphys about their behavior unless they tell the truth. When she tries activating her phone though, there’s no wi fi so she’s forced to play protagonist number 5 until the final boss. During their time Susie asks Catti if she and Jokcingotn are dating to which she replies,  with a maybe. Kris dosen’t like this and demands a yes or no answer. Ralsei reminds Kris that they are on borrowed time and that now isn’t the right place to fight. Upon returning to the light world, Susie notices a black spot on the wall but thinks nothing of it. Kris shows Susie the progress that they made in their project and as a reward Susie decides to award them by letting them see their home. During their trip to her house Asriel calls saying “Hey Kris! I’m gonna be coming home on Sunday!” Kris starts to cry at this statement.
Chapter 4:You want Noelle to be a protagonist now don’t you? Well here’s the Healer Noelle chapter you wanted. Alphys says that due to something happening the supplies cabinet is locked up. Susie is angry at this and demands Alphys opens it up but is persuaded other wise when Kris says “DO NOT OPEN IT, OR WE DON’T KNOW WHAT WILL BE UNLEASHED.” So Susie and Kris decide to just skip the darker world today until Noelle joins them and says that her dad needs help at the hospital. They fall down a medicine cabnet and find medicine monsters. Ralsei says that there’s no fountain here but understands that Neolle’s father is probably in need of the medicine so he helps. Through out the Chapter it’s obvious that Kris’ is acting...weird. Their soul isn’t there and you seem to lose control of them at times. While Ralsei finds this odd Susie is enjoying this and Noelle, being used to their bullcrap, ignores this. There’s also also a love confession scene with Noelle and Susie...which sadly does not go well, not matter what you do. After finding the medicine Noelle is depressed and decides that it would be best if she walked home alone. Susie thinks that she was kinda harsh and her and decides to make it up tomorrow. Kris is left alone to walk from home to here. It’s there they meet Sans, who has had his eye on them ever since they laid eyes. They talk about their natural distrust towards one another which is soon interrupted by Papyrus offering ravioli. DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUN. Also there’s a black puddle on the way back home and Toriel seems to be a bit unwell, BUT RAVIOLI INSTEAD OF SPAGETHI IS THE MAIN THING
Chapter 5:Berdly (inventor) is the last one to join team KSR. Ralsei, being Ralsei, tries to tolerate him but it’s very hard to when he keeps brining up science stuff. What makes matters worse is that they’re in the science lab. Susie thinks about how she’ll make things up with Noelle and she’s a lot more nervous then usual. Kris is still like they are in Chapter 4. Ralsei says that there’s one more fountain to be closed but up next is the strongest enemy they’ve faced so far so he’s glad that he brought Lancer along for the ride. Oh Lancer is there as well BTW, it’s 5 vs ? during most of the battles, except the ones in a specific part which is only Susie and Kris. After defeating the boss Ralsei warns Kris that even though all the fountains are sealed, there’s still danger. For the knight still walks alone and the angel is yet to be seen. Upon returning to the light world Berldy realizes how much of class he misses and hopes he can make it up. Susie talks to Noelle about what happened last night in the dark world and you don’t get to see if they make up or not. Upon the walk home, there’s a lot of worry and panic throughout the town. More and more people start talking about a mysterious dark spots in the town. Alphys reports to a local police lady that the world as we know it is going to end and Undyne gives her a big hug. Napstablook, chief police, says he’ll do investigating but when he steps over the puddle something interesting happens. The police hat he’s wearing turns into headphones. And when Kris steps over it they turn into their darkener self. The chapter ends with Kris threatening to stab the soul... Chapter 6:...But that doesn’t happen thanks to a restraint from Toriel. The town is in a panic. There are no visits to the dark world today. Kris calls Asriel who still says that he's coming over which is the only good news Kris head. No one is happy, well except Susie, who for once in her life time feels as though there’s nothing to worry about she’s got her side of the project done and Kris is almost done with theirs so they should be good. It’s at this moment the other classmates appear and talk to Susie and Kris about their adventures in the dark world and explain that Ralsei might have been twisting the truth a little bit in his prophecy. Berdly states that, upon doing some research, there was only supposed to be two heroes, a human and a monster and that if they were to seal these fountains the sky would turn black. Susie gets angry all of the sudden and demands that they find Ralsei and have him explain his actions at once. Kris though pulls the dagger out of their pocket and says otherwise and “you’ll have to get through me first, Suzy.” You play as the five other students in their regular forms and although they don’t have Kris’ dagger or abilities they had in the dark they do have their natural abilities. Susie asks what they hell that was about and Kris explains that they are not who is in control at all times sometimes -your vessel name here- takes over. It’s then your vessels pops out of your soul and reveals it’s form that you did. It doesn’t say anything and simply disappears. Suddenly Kris feels in control of their body again and lets go of the knife. Right now they’ve got one more thing to do, find Ralsei and the knight. First things first, Ralsei. After fighting tons and tons of bad guys, the six eventually find him near a forest and they ask him what Ralsei really wanted. “It’s quite simple really,” says the dark prince “I wanted you to be fooled by an innocent look.” In reality he was the angel that was to bring chaos to this land and before you know it, new home is covered in darkness. Everyone is scared now. People don’t know what to do and thus the gang has to fight him. Thankfully, he gave them their powers back. But first, the monsters must find the knight. Chapter 7:Leaving Kris behind they reunite with Lancer and decide to add him to the party one last time meaning it’s basically 6 against 1 and 8 if they can get the knight to side with them. It takes a little why but they do find out who created the Dark World at least “Dr.Gaster” whose from a parralel universe known as Undertale, which he can no longer return too. So he created this universe in his image with a few familiar faces and some new. However it seems that there was an error in his makings or something. The knight appears and fights Dr.Gaster, no matter how good of a fighter you are the knight will grab his soul and run off with it. However don’t lose hope. For with his soul came a hint to the knight’s location. Once they find the knight he asks “where is Kris?” they refuse to tell them their location and get into a fight. The fight is rigged for him to lose no matter what you do. He surrenders but still wants to know where Kris is, for only he and Kris can stop Ralsei. Ultimately they cooperate and each one goes and fights a boss from the world they appeared in but not by themselves. Susie gets help from MK, Temmie Alphys, and Snowy. Jockington gets help from Alvin, Mettaton, Napstablook & Undyne. Catty, Bratty, the blue bunny and Burgerpants help out Catti. Sans, Papyrus, and Rudolph help Noelle and Berdly. Finally Susie and Lancer get help from the Dreemurs and Gaster. Kris and the Knight have to fight the second boss before Ralsei before they can reach him. After that they reach Ralsei once and fight him in his new found angelic form. ZUN helps compose the music for the final boss themes and in order to defeat him you’re gonna need a lot of time to get him. There’s 3 phases, one of him saying that balance needs not be restored and that your’e the ones restoring the balance. The second is of him showing him the true demon behind the angel wings and with wings of familiar colors appear. Scars, injuries and a destroyed kingdom are all explained through this phase. Eventually it seems like the Kris is about to give up but then phase 3 happens with the most unexpected twist. “...No you can’t die now Kris.” he says “And why not?” they ask.
“...Because I haven’t even got you hot choclate yet.” After defeating the demon Ralsei once and for all the truth is explained to Kris. Asriel’s college is were he studies parallel worlds or something like that and the dark world here was a parallel version fo the light world. However Ralsei was sick and tired of balance all the time, he wanted chaos and disorder so he went and did just that. He eventually gets arrested and light and dark is restored again with hometown being a mix of light and dark. Ralsei is jail mates with King Chaos and Lancer transfers schools to go with Susie. She doesn’t get together with Noelle, but she’s moved on to a girl that she meet in the darker world. Undyne and Alphys get together. Omnisan finally tells us their secret. The dog finishes his game. Kris and Asriel go get that hot choclate and life returns  to usual. With Kris pulling out the soul again, but more gently...and setting it down in the cage saying “thank you.”

Alrighty, here’s all of my Deltarune theories
1. Deltarune’s central theme\moral question will be something a long the lines of “The free will to do bad things versus the safety of not having the bad choices”. To put it in videogame terms (as Undertale was more concerned with meta-commentary about videogames than real-world implications) “Should a game give you the option to do the evil thing even though you should totally do the good thing?”. The world of Deltarune is... safer than Undertale’s, at least that’s how it looks like. You literally can’t do a Genocide run, you *have* to end your adventure in the Dark World as a ‘Hero’, you have to be good - no matter what you want. It’s safer, since there’s no chance of a Genocide-Timeline, but it’s... oppresively suffocating when you know you have no other option - and kinda creepy to think about the fact that even if you WANT to be a horrible human being, everyone is ignorant to it and thinks you’re a great hero anyway. The world of Deltarune is a world where *nobody* has a choice; the player is railroaded, Kris is controlled against their will, Ralsei argues we *have* to be heroes because of a prophecy, the Darkners were created for a ‘purpose’ so their Free Will might be kinda fucked. The “Pacifist” Ending to the Dark World segment feels like a rushed parody of an Undertale Pacifist Run, complete with going back and talking with all the monsters you befriended. But it feels... deeply unsatisfying because this “Happy Ending” was not caused by your hard choices, but because you just... did as you’re told. Plus, Kris and friends have caused no REAL change in the Dark World the way Frisk changed everything to the Monsters living in the Underground. Sure, there’s a new ruler in Card Kingdom - but the Darkners are still living hidden from Lightners without much hope of having “purpose” again. Meanwhile, in the Light World, the Monsters have lives that... fairly happy and safe - but not quite as happy as they could be in the Undertale True Pacifist Ending. There’s less relationships, less self-improvement, less people-choosing-who-they-want-to-be. No free will robs you of satisfaction and reaching your fullest potential, but on the other hand... is it worth it if it means someone (*eyes the Player*) will use that free will to do evil? Yeah, the Light World is not quite as happy as the True Pacfist Ending - but it is not the only ending Undertale has.
2. There are two main antagonist-forces in the story: The Angel’s Paradise, that force the Delta Warriors are destined to banish and whatever you wanna call the Queen and the Knight and ect. The Angel’s Paradise is responsible for ridding this word of choices, probably for that sort of ‘greater good’ of preventing people from making bad choices (Although, to be thematic, the Angel’s Paradise is also robbed of choice in some way). The Knight and the Queen and company wish to bring choices INTO this world, but like... in a bad way. By destroying and remaking it or something. They would be a metaphor for a frustrated-denied-Genocide-player. But they would also be potrayed sympathetically somewhat because, as mentioned - not having choices sucks.
3. Since the Angel seems to be the center of the religion of Hometown, I think Deltarune will be upping the JPRGness game of Undertale by having Kris literally fight against the God-Figure of their parent’s religion to restore free will to the universe.
4. The Angel’s Religion in the Light World would be very open about the fact that it’s all about personal choices being less important than safety. That’s why Toriel is so religious, valuing safety over freedom was always kinda her thing.
5. I do, at the very least, believe Toby Fox’s claims this is not a direct sequal to Undertale and it doesn’t effect the ending of Undertale that you got in any way. I espacially buy that last part. It’s VERY important to Undertale’s themes that all endings are equally “canon” and whatever one is real depends on the player’s choices and nothing else. I don’t think Toby wants to make either True Pacifist or Genocide or Post-Genocide Pacifist into the “Real Ending”. That hardly means it has to be a totally unrelated AU, however. My money right now is that we’re looking at a stealth prequal. The World of Deltarune is one without choices, by banishing the “Angel’s Paradise” and\or letting the Queen and the Knight destroy and remake the world - they create the world of Undertale, one where there are choices. Although the characters are fearful about existing their safe, railroaded world, they are hopeful this new world would be even better with choices. Although the ending is the “same”, it’s context would be different depending on what you did in Undertale. If you ended with True Pacifist ending, you have proven the hopes the Deltarune people had for the new world correct. If you did a Genocide run, then the Deltarune people just look like dupes and overidealistic fools and you have accidently proven the Angel’s Paradise totally correct about how nobody can be trusted with choices and you’re no better than the Queen whooops.
6. Undertale tells us the original meaning of the Delta Rune symbol has been lost to time. I’m guessing that although the Underground interpeted as a prophecy of freedom - this was all just conjecture and coincidence on their part. The real meaning will be revealed in Delta Rune, it’s probably the Delta Warriors banishing the Angel’s Paradise (IE, the Undertale World’s creation myth, basically). Question is, why is one of the triangles upside down?
7. Not only do I think Sans might be originally from the Deltarune timeline (and aware of it), I think he might be a Darkner. Implications that Sans might not be originally from neither the Underground or the Surface, and that he might not be a proper Monster - are well-documented in the Undertale fandom (”You must really want to go home. Hey, I know the feeling, buddo.” “look. i gave up trying to go back a long time ago. and getting to the surface doesn't really appeal anymore, either.” The fact that he bleeds, can dodge attack and we don’t ACTUALLY see him turn to dust.) I just never took them super-seriously cause none of the purposed “solutions” made sense to me. Sans as a Darkner, though? Darkners are not originally from the Underground, Lancer’s dialouge implies they can bleed, and we don’t know what happens when *they* die. Not to mention, they can perfectly dodge attacks if they’re ‘On Guard’. ALSO, the most consistent difference between Monsters and Darkners? Monsters have Black-and-White dialouge icons, Darkners have them in full-color. But Sans (and Papyrus) have black-and-white faces. Darkners or Monsters, THEIR PROFILES WOULD LOOK THE SAME. That’s the sort of Hidden-in-Plain-Sight twist Toby Fox is into. Papyrus is almost certainly a Monster, he turns to dust when you kill him and everything. So that would mean Papyrus and Sans are not brothers by blood or something like that. Maybe Sans adopted that little Monster Skeleton Child as his “brother” to keep his Lightner disguise intact and ended up really honestly caring for the guy as his true bro.
8. Speaking of Papyrus? Something is very much up with him being one of the only Undertale Monsters you don’t get to meet. I support the speculation that he might have a radically different personality in that timeline, but also... Sans only mentions hanging out with his “Little Brother”, he never mentioned a name. Could it be that Sans’ brother is not Papyrus? At least not yet? I mean, we still don’t know where Gaster fits into this timeline.
9. I’m betting that Deltarune Asriel is... secretly a jerk. Mostly because: A. Ralsei is an obvious Flowey-Analogue and he’s as sweet as they come so what does that makes of the analoge for Flowey’s sweet alterego. B. Everyone is just so fucking praiseful of the guy some other shoe’s gotta drop C. Deltarune has some real ‘Monkey’s Paw’ vibes in regards to what people wanted out of Undertale 2 (Dark World = Just Undertale Again with Some Terms Switched and Upgraded Gameplay, Light World = Hanging Out with the Post-Pacifist Happy Ending Characters) it only make sense Toby Fox would want to fuck with our desire to see Asriel alive by making him such a radically different (and asshole) person. Kris’ gloomy and antisocial personality might be a result of being bullied by their big brother while nobody notices and assumes Asriel is Just Such a Nice Big Bro and Great and Hot. I’d be bitter too. They could have, like, a sequence that plays on our expecations of Asriel from Undertale. Where at first he comes in and seem as nice and sweet as that other Asriel and the player buys into it too (even though Kris was in a position where he would have recognized it as non-sincere) only for it to be NOOOPE he’s a jerk actually! Why did you fall for his trap Kris you’re the one person who knows how he REALLY is it’s almost like you’re mind-controlled or something? Thankfully, since Asriel was last in town, Kris aquired a new mean purple friend who likes eating faces and doesn’t like mean family members.
10. As for the OTHER Goatson, I don’t think Ralsei is like... secretly sinister or deciving Kris and Susie - but I also don’t think his worldview is as sweet and correct and right all the time. His issue is more... naivete, and being just a bit too comfortable with a lack of choice. (He honestly doesn’t seem to realize why Susie isn’t really into “Well, the prophecy says you’re a chosen one so you MUST be a hero and act nice and stuff). Although he means well, I think more will be called into question about his worldview other than the Pacifism. I am also... kinda expecting the twist that he might not be the Prince from the Dark. Again, not because he lied, but because he was... mistaken. (In the Legend of the Deltarune speia tone thing, the Monster and Human clearly look like Susie and Kris - but the Prince of the Dark only looks like Ralsei because he is wearing a cloak, which is not his default outfit. I feel like this might be relevant). He wanted it to be true cause then he’d get to go on an adventure and be a hero and have friends - so he just convinced himself it’s true. Would he be so okay with following prophecies when he finds out that, like, Lancer or whatever is who’s REALLY supposed to be a hero and friends with Susie and Kris?
11. Also that part about Darkners being made with a ‘purpose’, to ‘serve’ the Lightners... it REALLY creeps me out. Ralsei says Lancer feels good inside about being friends with Kris and Susie because he’s ‘fulfilling his purpose’... Is it possible that maybe all Darkners are just... a little too suggestible to friendship from Lightners? Like the friendship with Lancer seems pretty honest, but maybe all the ‘friendships’ we made with the Darkners we spared had less to do with us just being nice and more about us accidently overriding their free will??? Scary to think about, but it fits with the theme of Restrained for the Greater Good versus Free and Evil. It could also explain the King of Spades’ reaction to Lancer saying the Lightners are his friends, as far as the Spade King knew this was more Mind Control than actual friendship. Maybe the Spade King doesn’t think there’s any way to solve that dilemma but destory all the Lightners so that the Darkners won’t have to worry about that ‘purpose’ shit anymore? He thinks it might be the only way his people could have free will? (Also there’s a real theme here about rejecting railroading by becoming a villain; Spade King being a self-professed ‘Bad Guy’, Susie rejecting the role of the Hero to also become a Bad Guy, probably Kris at the end)
12. As for the ‘purpose’ for which Darkners were created. Well, to be meta, I think they were created to be NPCs for RPGames... sorta. I don’t think the game is gonna use the term outright, but they’ll word it like the Darkners were created to play villains and secondary roles in epic-fantasy-stories Lightners made happen inside their realm. That’s why the Dark World follows RPG Logic closer than the Underground (you can sell items in shops, for example), and why all the Darkners are themed after things like Chess and Checkers and Card Games and Plushies. They were made to be playthings, games.
I think that’s it for my predictions to what’s gonna happen next in Deltarune, stay tuned to literally none of them being true in any way.
