The gentle waves lap at the shore, sand cold beneath her body as she stares at the stars. One hand is twined with Arthur’s, both engulfed in silence. The only light trickles down from the moon, reflecting hauntingly across the water. Behind them, the dune grasses dance in a soft breeze.

She had been to the beach plenty of times, both as a child and as an adult. Summers spent on yachts, trolling boardwalks, and getting kicked out of bars for being underage. A completely different life than the one she was living now. This life where she had somehow found peace even if on the surface it was more chaotic than the previous.

Her hand releases from theirs as she props herself up on her elbows. She looks at them once, then back out across the sea – back again, except,

They’ve become taller. Their curly hair replaced with a short, side-swept style – no longer Arthur at all, in fact. Eric rolls on his side, a wicked smile on his face. His hand closes around her neck so quick there’s little time to react. He drags her under him, choking, choking, choking –

Leo wakes up gasping for air and hideously clawing at invisible hands on her throat, catapulting herself backwards and off the bed. A few kicks have landed against Arthur’s skin – a terrified scream peels from her mouth as she hurriedly shoves herself into a corner. She flails against the wall, hitting a nail head that’s jutting out and ripping her skin. She doesn’t notice the blood – only thinks she sees Eric when her eyes pop open and Arthur is in front of her.

“No, no, no, NO!” She kicks at them, terrified – trapped in the throes of her nightmare. “Don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me.” Eyes are wide and wild, feral almost. “Eric I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”

Beth: She is a fucking badass. I just watched that episode where she escaped from that hospital. Some people think of her as weak but she proved the opposite in that episode. Deceiving that creepy guy only to strike when he's vulnerable, took out several walkers on her own firing headshots at them with ease. She is a brave, kind and sweet character and I love her singing. I always like to read your Beth headcanons!

Carol: I mentioned it already but the Carol/Daryl relationship is one of my favorite relationships on the show. I love their scenes. I think Daryl really can be himself around her. She somehow manages to make him let down his guard. That hug in 5x01 holy shit. Oh and let's not forget that she took out most those Terminus people on her own lmao. She's a bad bitch.

Andrea: I loved her relationship with Michonne. I like that she is very different from the rest of the team. She makes some bad decisions but they add spice to the plot. She has a good heart though and is just trying to do the right thing which is why I like her. Looking forward to writing with your Andrea!

Rick: He's willing to do anything to protect the group. And I love him for that. Rick has always been one of my favorites. And some of the scenes he has with other characters always melt my heart. At the same time he is savage towards the ones who mess with him or his family. I like that contrast.

Daryl: He has one of the best character development arcs on the show. So much depth and complexity. I love his backstory and how he finds a family among people that (as Maggie once said it) probably would've walked past each other on the street without a second glance.

There are a few benefits to Charlie's job beyond just doing what she loves. There's the enjoyment of atmosphere. There's bringing her kid to work whenever she wants. But the one she's particularly missing now is leftovers. Almost always, when she orders, she's able to take the leftovers home. But Robbie being sick means she's had to postpone her next review, and that means no leftovers for dinner this week. And depression meals only get you so far.

When she hears a knock on her door, she is out of energy to pretend to be normal. She gently and carefully removes her hand from atop Robbie's seat, and then sprinted with the force of an Olympic hurdler to the door. She's expecting the Amazon delivery person so fundamentally that when there is no box in the hand of the person standing there, she's genuinely shocked. "Oh, um, did--"

Only after she starts to speak does she realize what is there. Not an Amazon package, but a brown paper bag, so large it obscures the face of the person holding it. Still, Charlie recognizes the hands and lower torso and legs. Rocio has a certain confident posture, even hiding behind a massive bag, that she would recognize anywhere.

"I was picking up some equipment by that new Thai place. Pad Thai?"

She peeks around the giant bag with a grin, and Charlie is pretty sure she's going to pass out from gratitude. "Yes." She's whispering, but it's the whisper-equivalent of shrieking. "Come on in. I think he's asleep for now."

Rocio follows her in, heading directly into the kitchen. Charlie assumes she's getting bowls, maybe digging out chopsticks from her utensil drawer, while she pops over to ensure the sack of snot that has replaced her son is still asleep. He is, fitfully. And when she returns to the kitchen, she sees two bowls of pad Thai, as well as plates with fried tofu, curry, and a rice dish. All that, unpacked, and there's still a bag on the counter.

Rocio nudged the plate toward her. "There was some of the sweet potato stuff I know Robbie likes on sale," she says casually through a bite of her own noodles. "So I picked some of that up too."

Charlie freezes, chopstick halfway up to her mouth. "Huh?"

"Sweet potato goop? The one in the glass jar?"

Charlie slowly moves the noodles to her mouth, only registering the delicate balance of acidity and salt and umami with the work-part of her brain, which is mostly too hungry to function properly anyway. "Stupid," she mutters, and then, remembering that there's someone in her home who knows English other than her, she backtracks. "I mean, no, sorry, I'm just--I'm trying not to cry because it's uncool but I'm having a hard time and that's stupid."

Rocio chuckles and nudges the plate of fried tofu closer. "I got the medium spicy. Hope that's okay."

Charlie sniffs the tofu nervously. "First of all, you could've brought me just straight hot sauce and it would probably be better than what I was scrounging for myself. Second, it's perfect because if my eyes water, I can blame the tofu."

Rocio chuckles. "I'll grab you a drink too, then."

20: violent threads

I don't have any issue with them. I came to tumblr rp by way of Marvel/DC, and my longer stretches of times in fandom include Dragon Ball, Fire Emblem, and Danganronpa (here!) and those are all things with a healthy amount of violence in them. I don't get grossed out by the language of violence and gore in text, and I have definitely written fight scenes in the past that have gone, like, full splatter with regards to descriptions of blood and viscera and the like. There's a part of me that enjoys writing that kind of thing, and to soapbox very briefly, I think there's something compelling (to me at least, maybe not to everyone) about violence having weight? For me, getting into blood and injuries and the effects of violence make it feel less cartoony and more genuine. Not in a moralistic way, but I think when there is violence in the kind of stories I'm most interested in telling, it should carry with it the weight of real violence.

At the same time, as President Obama said in that one tumblr user's dream, violence for violence is the rule of beasts, and so I think that it must, in some way, be compelling in order to be warranted. If a violent thread exists to advance a narrative, or to characterize one or more characters, or to otherwise contribute to the story, then, great. No notes. If it's just filler, or it's done purely to be gratuitous or shocking or something, it's less interesting to me to explore, and I'd prefer to skip through it to aftermath where presumably characters will be talking and feeling things and such. I try to resist the siren song of "showing off the Cool Violence that my characters can do for the sake of it" and instead keep it to moments where it feels narratively or emotionally appropriate.

She is challenging, and formidable but often does not understand why she is such things. Her instincts are quick, and her wit is troublesome. Picard would find her to be one of the better members of Star Fleet. However, she focuses too much on trivial things, such as the life of human existence. Her valiant manners reflect a form of identity she tries to give to her crew, but she doesn't see how it may be her undoing. 

If I am to give my honest opinion on the female, she does not deserve whatever human male decides to claim her. However, human, or humanoid, is truly her only choice since she would probably choose no other. 

Every time for humanity is linear in their reality, Q can see beyond and in all paths. She seems to be very stuck in her decisions on concubines. At least all the paths I let myself walk down, for the most part.
