As soon as they reached the side entrance to the large retail store, Pamela gave the group a nod. They haven't gone for the main entrance, given that the main entrance was a revolting door, which according to Pamela only meant trouble. So instead they made use of Kyleigh's lock picking skills that would allow them to access the building through a special entrance originally designed for deliveries. Rosita was surprised to hear Kyleigh knew how to pull something like that off, she had found out about it while they made the plan for the mission, and she was glad that Pamela had asked if anyone had that skill by any chance. The door was a solid door. Not glass, not revolting. Much better than the alternative.
The only disadvantage was how narrow it was, but even the possibility of a narrow entrance had been something they had taken into account. Rosita had to admit, so many minds working at once were a huge advantage, they had come up with more possible hooks and solutions for them than her group of four ever could have.
While they had made the plan, Pamela had insisted that not all of them should immediately get inside if the entrance was narrow, so they wouldn't have to squeeze through the door like a pack of sardines should they discover there'd be too many dead inside. The woman seemed to be the leader in scout missions, not Gordon, she noticed, as she had naturally taken charge of this supply run. She was the first one to step forward, as their plan had been that she would first check if at least the area within sight was somewhat clear and if it wasn't, then they'd see her running back, and it would be their signal to run, too. Fair enough.
Apparently things had been clear.. clear enough. Pamela's knife quickly penetrated the skull of one of the dead coming towards her, the groaning sound stopping abruptly as it was replaced by a wet squelch. She could only see a part of Pamela's face, with half of her face being covered by one of the medical masks she had given everyone (it was a smart move, nobody wanted to get their blood in their mouth), but the expression she had in her eyes while killing the creature made the surly expression she typically had on her face look warm and sweet in comparison.
A few more came towards them, but Rosita noted how there were fewer undead around them than people in their group. Even if one of them failed to take one of them out, it shouldn't be an issue. Kyleigh had an assault rifle, and she was positioned in the perfect spot to take all the dead out should they need to resort to that. The optimist within her liked to think it would never come to that, though. Plus, she knew if it came down to it, she would fight to the bones with her knife. The last thing she'd want was to attract that horde with the assault rifle. Thankfully, when they checked out that horde by climbing on that building's roof to see where it was going, it had been headed to another direction. They wouldn't head towards the store unless they made a lot of noise. But even if that ever happened, they'd have an exit plan.
They have gone on runs before, that was evident. None of them were strangers to killing the undead. One of the men from Gordon's group - Conrad, the one that had called Rosita and her people capable, proved to be just as capable when he swung his hatchet with a shocking amount of force, pulling it out without smoothly just to get it back up in a swift motion and taking out the second dead one with another single hit, while Rosita was still killing her first and Irina was keeping her six safe by repeatedly smashing in an undead's skull with a hammer until it ceased to move. Lucky for them, Gordon's group had plenty of tools, so they all had been given back-up weapons in case their knives got stuck or somehow failed. Conrad's level of attentiveness took her by surprise, given how quickly he took note of the situation, looting back the stuck knife from the corpse with no issue.
With all the dead being taken care of, Pamela signaled the group to move forward, the stench of decay growing stronger, enough to irritate Rosita's eyes, tears beginning to form. The sight of the corpses creeping towards them was enough for her to want to take off and go for their exit plan, but Pamela had a different idea. "The shelves here. We set up a barricade playing them sideways, then kill them," she ordered, oddly calmly, and some of the group started to do exactly what she said, building a low barricade around hip-height by placing one shelf next to each other. If they managed to do this quickly enough, the undead wouldn't get to them in time.
While she still had her reservations about doing this for a group of total strangers, Kyleigh relaxed a little when she heard Rosita's opinion. She didn't want to see anyone die for an unnecessary reason, but the half lycan also didn't want to put her own people at risk either. It wasn't hard for Kyleigh to tell that the others were a bit hesitant too, but she was happy that they were all on the same page. Learning from this new group could be beneficial, she agreed with that and it would give them all more experience on the outside. Maybe even the chance to scout out new places and allow them to get used to being around living people again.
Yeah I hope you'll end up as lunch too so we don't have to hear your damn mouth anymore, Kyleigh thought to herself , only rolling her eyes in Warren's direction. She got it, she really did. But that just wasn't necessary right now. One person starts to drag them down it wouldn't be long before the others joined in. Mystery loves company and all that.
"Same for me. We made a plan to get out of that camp together and we did. That means anything is possible for us. Besides, the more we have on our side the better it is. They know this building and the area better than any of us do. So we listen and we pay attention. No one take risks that we don't need to and if things go south out there, we look out for each other."
Kyleigh knew how bad that sounded but these people were still strangers, strangers willing to do what it took to protect what they had. Not that she could blame them but they weren't worth dying for. Since the four agreed that they were going to go through with this Kyleigh got up, ready to make plans with Gordon once more. Making her way over to the door she knocked on it, stepping back when Pamela opened it up.
"We're ready, but we want a solid plan before we go back out there."
"That makes sense." The lead man agreed with her.
"What did you think we were doing in here? Playing grab ass?" The woman asked, a sneer on her face. The comment was ignored for the time being by the half lycan. No one said they had to like each other for them all to work together.
Twenty or so minutes later with her gun given back to her and a plan agreed upon by everyone the now larger group were almost ready to start this adventure. Gordon was going to be staying back with Anna and to keep the building secure along with the guy that had been in the ceiling (Kyleigh was sure he said his name, she just couldn't remember it at the moment). The air was tense, no one really speaking. Probably all trying to mentally prepare themselves for what they were about to do.
"We'll be heading down the back stairs to the exit. It's the clearest path. No vehicles, they make too much noise. All of you stick close and we go radio silent once we get out there. That clear?" Pamela asked, adjusting a small sack around her torso.
"Yeah we got you. About ten minutes to the store once we get out of here?" Kyleigh asked, just to make sure she knew how much time they had. She liked the idea of sticking to specific limits, getting in and out as quickly as possible.
"Should be, as long as no one decides to venture off on their own."
Rolling her eyes Kyleigh nodded, ready to get things moving. She wanted to get this shit done as soon as possible, already tired of hearing Pamela's condescending tones towards them.

Crossing her arms, the brunette sighed. "It's one hell of a risk, but I get it. They look out for their own. I don't know who Anna is, but we should help her."
Rosita understood what it was like to be around someone who was sick. Her mother had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer when she was a teenager, something that eventually been her demise, and Rosita had done everything she could to make sure her mother was happy. Even if she had still been alive now, Rosita would have risked a lot to save her. And maybe that Anna was someone's mother, or sister, aunt, or friend.
"We can't let this chance slide. I don't think they can stay in this building forever, but it'll do fine for a while. This could be our way to find allies, learn from each other, train for this."
There must have been a reason why they had managed to defend this building. Surely it hadn't been pure luck. There was at least one sniper in the group, and maybe they had more people with useful knowledge.
Warren didn't say much, just giving a sharp nod and a short, self-deprecating response. "I agree. I got the feeling I'll be lunch soon, but I don't have anything to lose."
"No one will be lunch if we do this right," Rosita argued, not fond of his pessimistic jokes. Even if she knew technically anyone could die at any time these days, she preferred to think she could keep it under control. Save the mourning for when it actually happened. There was enough despair in the present already.
"We won't barge in without a plan. We'll see what we can do in case things don't go according to the plan."
"I'll do what I have to. I owe you my life.. So if you are going.. then I am going too," Irina spoke to Rosita.
This man and his people were smart to guard the building like they were. There were no dead in it (at least none that they had seen yet), they had supplies and were armed. A spot like this was paradise compared to the outside world, Kyleigh and the others were lucky that they hadn't been killed on the spot as soon as they crossed over that bridge. That didn't mean they were safe just yet however. Sadly the half lycan had witnessed just how ugly humans could get these days, and she wouldn't put it past these ones to do the same. Lure them into a false sense of security then attack them at their most vulnerable. The one in charge was sharing information so perhaps that was a good sign. Kyleigh would have rather they not exchange names, in her mind it somehow connected the two groups and the last thing they needed was more people to worry about. But she didn't say a word, just nodded when the others looked at her. She was always better at observing anyway, the beast inside not convinced that this little conversation was a good thing.
Gordon, the man had a name now, told them a story that was too familiar but Kyleigh did feel bad that they lost a person. Didn't matter if you had known someone a single day or your entire life. When they went out in this world, especially over something so stupid, it still hurt. The half lycan could remember every single name and face of that first group she had been with; they haunted her in her sleep, their screams still loud in her ears. Now she could understand better why these people were so cautious, but not everyone they ran into were assholes like those others had been.
Thankfully the conversation switched to something a bit more pleasant but of course the loudmouth of their group had to jump in before anyone else could. As if they had any reason to impress Gordon and the others. It didn't matter any more what someone did before the world ended. Unless of course they were a nurse or a contractor. Those people were going to be needed when it was time to rebuild or if injuries should occur along the way. "Thank you Warren. Nice to see that man-splaining hasn't been wiped out along with everything else." Kyleigh muttered. Not that he lied about what she did, but the women could have very easily answered for themselves.
And the fact that he was talking about bad backs and sleeping? Where the hell was this guy's head? If it wasn't for the fact that he was an engineer Kyleigh would have suggested leaving Warren back in that camp. Hearing that there were more stores nearby that hadn't been searched did catch her attention, her head turning back towards Gordon. She agreed with Rosita in not getting why this group hadn't checked those out yet but the man did respond with a good reason. It was better for them to stay where it was safe, but what would they do when the food ran out or even more people came along? Hmm maybe this was where they could form a plan to get the hell out of this alive. Go with the others, see if they could find the medicine this Anna needed, then continue on with their original plan!
"Yeah I can use it. My uncle had one like it when we went on our hunting trips. Might be hard to find medicine out there. That was one of things people went nuts for when it all started to fall apart. How far away are these stores?"
"About two blocks up the street. But if the horde is coming we might not be able to make it." Pamela answered her, crossing her arms over her chest.
"This building have a roof? If we could get up there we would be able to get a better view of the city, see exactly where that horde is. Might be able to come up with a different route to get to those stores. How badly do you need that medicine?"
"Pretty badly. She's down to her last two doses, and if those run out…."
Gordon didn't need to say anything more for Kyleigh to get the idea. Whatever Anna had she was very sick, but this could be just the leverage they needed.
"Just know she wasn't bitten or scratched, so you don't have to worry about that. This was something she had before the end, something we've been able to keep managed until now."
"Could I have my gun back if we agree to help you?" Kyleigh quickly glanced to Rosita to let her know that she wasn't agreeing to anyting just yet, she wanted to see if Gordon was willing to trust them a little.
"Of course, I wouldn't allow you to go back out there unarmed."
Getting up slowly with her hands raised to let them know she wasn't starting anything, Kyleigh walked over to Rosita, Warren and Irina. "If you could just give us a moment to talk about this?"
Nodding his head Gordon signaled for his people to follow him back into the office, leaving only the four of them in the large waiting room. "So what do we think?" She asked softly, keeping her back towards the door.

If Rosita had been as religious as her mother had been, she would've prayed in her mind for them to let her and the rest of the group stay. She understood wanting to be cautious, but any building without a bunch of dead inside was practically a goldmine these days.
In the early days of this, she had decided to leave her apartment due to being low on food fairly quickly, like most people had been, as few had prepared for end times and stocked up their pantries. She could've stayed within her safe walls, not made a sound, waited for help, but she knew it would have been a gamble. Wait for help that might never arrive and then find yourself too weak to scavenge from a shortage of food by the time you realized no one was going to come, or take the risk while you were still strong enough to fight.
Rosita had done the latter.. and she had been shocked how hard it had been to find a safe place to sleep. You'd think with the amount of buildings out there-- houses, hair salons, laundromats and whatever you could find in the area, you'd find a clean place, but Rosita hadn't, having found herself shutting doors just shortly after opening them, sneaking through town like on the battlefield, hiding behind anything she could find.. always hiding, never finding.
But this time there was a horde nearby, and because she had fired that shot, there was a huge chance it would walk in their direction. Having to find another building while so many of the dead were close by? That was one hell of a risk. She knew how quickly you could get cornered out there. If those people kicked them out, they might get screwed over really fast.
"You are capable people," the man responded to Rosita's companion, his eyes - blue and carrying a tired kind of wariness (though Rosita wouldn't call it hostile) - scanning the four of them. She was the one to introduce everyone as he asked for their names. "That's Kyleigh", Rosita gestured to the shorter brunette. "That's Irina, and that's Warren. I'm Rosita."
"Pamela, you may holster your gun," the man in charge ordered with a polite assertiveness. The curly haired brunette - Pamela, withdrew her gun with a stubborn expression, lowering it but not holstering it until the man gave her a look. That narrow-eyed, suspicious look still persisted on her face as she cautiously watched the four of them with Kyleigh's rifle slung over her shoulder.
"I'm Gordon," the man introduced himself. His expression slowly shifted into something more saddened, a stark contrast to that smile he had flashed them earlier.
"I apologize for my associate's behavior. Everyone is still on edge. A while back, three of our people went on a supply run and came across a hostile group. We lost one of them, a man named Tony. They were going to attack our camp and take everything. He stopped them - single-handedly, but it had cost him his life. Pamela and Tony were rather close."
"Hey, some privacy, you- you.. Gordon," Pamela shot back annoyed, dropping his name as if she had wanted to insult him but decided against it at the last moment. "You don't need to tell them everything."
A quick exchange between them followed, with Gordon apologizing, but highlighting the importance of transparency. It was evident there was mutual respect between the two.
"What is it that you all did before the outbreak?" one of the two men who had led them into the room asked, surprisingly soft-spoken compared to Pamela.
Before Rosita could even open her mouth again, Warren responded, in a rapid-fire speech that Rosita had already become used to. Mentioning how both her and Kyleigh were mechanics, Irina a physical therapist and how he was a civil engineer specialized in disaster recovery - all mentions within a chain of arguments on why they were needed.
Well.. Rosita guessed he was just as scared of being kicked out as she was. He was trying hard, no doubt, not afraid to show off and say what he could build. If the situation hadn't been as serious, she would've huffed a breath of laughter at Warren's sharp observation that they probably didn't have any proper beds here, which is why he insisted would need the physical therapy once their backs began to ache from sleeping on the floor.
Something that earned him an eye roll from Pamela, and a chuckle from Gordon - almost a warm kind of chuckle. "Well, well - there is a retail store nearby. Not many people take mattresses with them, so it might present an optimal place if you are seeking for a mattress. Chances are, there might be food and medicine, and that is what we truly need. We haven't been able to clear the place out yet."
"Why is that?" Rosita inquired. "You don't seem to lack what it takes to clear out a building. You've established this," she pointed out.
"Our group kept getting smaller. Not all of us can fight," that soft-spoken man from earlier explained. "There's not enough of us. And we don't wanna risk more lives. But- but you. You're military trained. And you.. Kyleigh?", he spoke to the other brunette, "You know how to use that rifle, right?" He turned his head to look at his group leader. "They have to stay. They could help us find medicine for Anna."
As much as she didn't want to, Kyleigh began to think that this was the point where her life was finally going to come to an end. She survived the damn end of the world, a backwards ass camp, and getting through that other building only to be taken out by some asshole she couldn't see. Just her luck. Everything had told her to stay far away from any living being once she figured out what was going on, but that human side of her just had to venture close. Close enough to caught by those damn guards and pushed into that camp. At least she could say she met some decent people because of it. Rosita would make it, if anyone out of their small group survived. She had the courage and the heart, the smarts to go along with it. The other two? Well Kyleigh wouldn't bet her last dollar on them if money meant anything these days.
She did cast an ugly glare their way when they started to talk. Not that she could blame them, maybe this person would take pity on them and let them go once they heard the stories. Still there was a part of her that wanted to yell at them to shut the hell up so she could think. Maybe this faceless person would allow them to go free if they could make some kind of deal. Kyleigh's eyes slid over to the other brunette, a flash of a smile coming to her face. Rosita was on the same page as her, probably trying to figure some way out of this.
Another warning came, the sounds of feet approaching them distracting Kyleigh from her thoughts. So it wasn't just some empty threat. Two men and a woman came into view, their own weapons at the ready for anything. Kyleigh couldn't put blame on them for wanting to protect what they had in this building, but there was no need for threats or violence. Irina wasn't lying about the horde that was near by. The four just wanted shelter to wait it out, then they would be on their way. So in addition to the faceless voice there were three others so far, making the groups evenly matched. If a fight were to break out it could be possible for Kyleigh, Rosita, Irina and Warren to be the victors. She just didn't want it to come down to that.
At least it was the other woman who came over and gave the half lycan a quick pat down, not bothering to check the few hidden spots Kyleigh had some knives in. Good. She still wanted that rifle, but just as she went to reach for it the woman snatched it from the ground. She pointed in the direction that Irina and Warren were being led in, Kyleigh assuming that meant she wanted her to follow. "That's not necessary." She finally spoke when she saw the gun pointed at Rosita's back but it just fell on deaf ears. Her hands curled into fists at her sides, but Kyleigh held back from making any stupid moves. They were obviously being taken to the leader of this whole thing. And she could only hope that he might be willing to make a deal to let them go unharmed.
The group was led up just one flight of stairs, these ones just as clean as the the hallway they had crossed over. That cleaner smell still lingered in the air but it wasn't as strong. Just one door met them when they reached the top, opening up to what used to be a waiting room then a rather large office. Must have belonged to one of the higher ups in the company, all the office furniture still there as well as some generic paintings on the walls. They were all instructed to sit down before the man walked over to the door of the office and knocked on it three times. Muffled footsteps could be heard as another person made their way over to the door, swinging it open with a polite smile on his face. Okay yeah, nothing creepy about that at all.
"You'll have to excuse my associates for that routine, but I'm sure you can understand why it was done." The man had a deeper voice than the one that had told them all to drop their weapons, so Kyleigh was going to guess he wasn't the same person. Smart. Have a look out to call in the guards before taking them up to the big boss.
"We are the last of the employees that worked in this building before the end happened. Everything we have we fought for, so we must take extreme precautions when visitors come by. I'm told you mentioned there was a horde on their way here? Is that correct?"
"Yeah, it's about ten to twelve minutes away. We were just trying to avoid them, maybe wait it out. Like we said, we don't want any of your shit. We have family we want to find, so it would be nice if we could make it back to them alive and in one piece." Kyleigh informed the man, glancing around to the others to make sure they were alright.

1. What was their childhood nickname?
Luchadora from her mom!
5. What's their favourite dessert?
Brownies with stracciatella ice cream and cherries on top.
8. What topic are they most likely to know obscure facts about?
Ro has a good memory when it comes to the things her loved ones tell her, so she knows a lot more about people than they might know because she won't forget what you tell her if she cares about you. She'll remember your favorite color, the things that made you laugh. This isn't obscure but it might be if the person is Abraham or Eugene!
9. What is their most commonly used swear word?
Oh there are.. many. Pendejo, hijo de puta, cabrón for insults. I headcanon that she uses caramba and carajo if she feels like she is in a screwed up situation or if she is just angry but doesn't have anyone to insult.
10. What's their favourite book?
I can't name a title, but I can tell you it would either be a love poetry book, or a beautifully written romance novel. But out of the books I've read, Rosita would love the Outlander series! <3
15. What's their favourite colour?
Indigo, light purple and khaki green.
16. When was their first kiss?
She was 15, it was a boy she dated in high school. He liked her, and Rosita just wanted to know what it was like to kiss someone, but she didn't feel much for him, and they remained friends until she moved high schools.
17. What's the worst film they've ever seen?
Probably a horror movie. Rosita just doesn't like horror.
18. What noise do they find the most irritating?
Loud chewing.
19. What's their favourite animal?
A tie between butterflies and parrots.
22. What was their favourite subject at school?
Electronics. She aced that class.
27. What do they order to drink when they go to a bar?
A tequila cocktail. Or strawberry liquor.
33. Did they have a childhood pet?
No, Rosita couldn't afford pets. But she kind of wanted a gecko when she was younger.
35. If they had to select a superpower to have, what would it be?
Anything that could kill the walkers in masses. Or a touch that could make someone immune to the virus.
39. What kind of music do they listen to?
Jazz, Latin pop, regular pop, indie, a bit of classical music.
40. What sports do they like? Do they support any specific teams/athletes?
Soccer and boxing, but she never watched sports. If she were to watch sports, she'd watch women's wrestling.
46. What drive/vehicle would they pick if they played Mario Kart?
I know nothing about Mario Kart, but I think Rosita would have clear preferences for which vehicle she'd pick.
47. Do they have a middle name?
No. it's just Rosita Espinosa. I looked it up, and in Mexico, middle names aren't common.
48. What would they like to name their future child?
She named her daughter Socorro, meaning help. If she ever had a boy, she'd name him Cielo, meaning sky or heaven.

𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬.
1. What does your muse smell like? Argan oil (her hair), clean cotton with a hint of roses and/or coconut. This is assuming Rosita is staying in a community where she has her choice of soaps and cosmetic products. Otherwise, she really just smells like whatever soap she can manage to get her hands on. She prefers the scents mentioned.
2. What do your muse’s hands feel like? Incredibly smooth and soft.
3. What does your muse usually eat in a day? If Rosita has the luxury to pick, she loves to eat: yoghurt and berries with oats for breakfast (from yoghurt powder since Alexandria doesn't have cows or goats), one of Carol's casseroles for dinner, Southern fried cinnamon apples and most Mexican foods.
Out there in the wild, her favorite foods are spicy canned beans with canned bread and deer steak.
4. Does your muse have a good singing voice? Kind of. She's pretty alright. She's never taken lessons or had any training. Some songs come out pretty nice, others not so much, but it would take a special person to hear Rosita sing. She likes to sing the lullabies she heard from her mother in infant hood to Coco.
5. Does your muse have any bad habits or nervous ticks? No nervous ticks. Her bad habit is that she can lash out at people. She's punched Eugene before.
6. What does your muse usually look like / wear? Her trademark item is definitely her cap. Rosita wears 3/4 jeans, shorts or long pants depending on the weather and has leather pads attached to her knees. It makes crouching down to fix a vehicle much more comfortable. She usually wears combat boots, and she's got a thing for leather jackets. Preferred colors are navy, khaki, browns, relatively neutral colors. When she's on supply runs, she'll always wear her hair in braids or a ponytail. In Alexandria, she might wear her hair down and wear hoop earrings.
7. Is your muse affectionate? How much? How so? She hugged Tara and Glenn shortly after meeting them. In a world with so many bad people, yeah, Tara will show affection towards anyone with a good heart who's helped her out. She does use touch as a comforting gesture too, see her caressing Tara's arms when she's lying in bed injured in season 6. When watching movies, she likes to learn on someone just a little or put an arm around them.
8. What position does your muse sleep in? Side. Always the left side.
9. Could you hear your muse in the hallway from another room? Generally not, no. She can get angry with people, but you probably wouldn't hear her yell at someone loudly, just snap at them.

[Head]canon:
When Rosita is bored, she'll solve Rubik's cubes. This is actually canon, see 5x12, I'm pretty sure the thing in her hand is a Rubik's cube, she is playing with it, twisting it.
Ro is such a geek.

The moment Rosita registered the voice -- assertive and serious, she fought the urge to draw her gun. It felt unfair, being told to lay down your weapons by an armed person who had whatever it took to blow their heads off. A person who might as well take all of their weapons and the rest of the little stuff they possessed and throw them out. Wouldn't be the first time Rosita saw something like this. Before she got picked up by the soldiers and put in the military camp, she had run with a group of people.
Not all strangers Rosita and her group had encountered had been kind. In fact, things had gone haywire to the point where they would stop near gas stations and decide not to go inside, seeing people rush in and fight each other over supplies. She remembered that one time when she had watched some people from afar wanting the same supplies, everything ending with people being pushed, windows being destroyed, shots being fired and the whole gas station being overrun by the undead. Rosita and her group had bailed before they could see that one screaming guy being devoured alive, not having wanted to bother saving someone who would shoot someone over supplies.
Or that one time when she had been on her own, trying to get a hot-wired car started, when a man and a woman came barging toward her with their scarf-covered faces and baseball bats. She had seen people like that before, wanting to smash in people's cars just for the sake of it. She'd never fought so hard to drive away as quickly as possible from people.
Irina was the first to speak to the stranger, which Rosita had been trying to locate as desperately as Kyleigh was. Where the hell was that guy hiding?
"Please, we're not here to harm anyone.. I have a daughter out there, we're just trying to find a place to sleep.. there's a horde nearby! They'll be here in about fifteen minutes!"
Silence followed, something that unsettled Rosita, was that guy coming over? Or thinking of what to do with them? Whether he should shoot them?
Warren spoke up as well, stating that they were on his side, just trying to make it through a world dominated by highly aggressive, reanimated corpses. Espinosa was already working her hardest to think of ways to deal with the situation getting out of hand, scanning the surrounding area for possible exits just in case.. when she heard footsteps. Someone coming down the stairs. And a warning.
"Don't think you can run from this. I'm still up here, and I could get at least one or two of you before the others had the chance to run!"
Caramba.. They were dealing with multiple people and not getting out of this so easily. From what Rosita could hear, those were at least two people, even if they were trying to get down the stairs quietly.
Three, she realized as the figures stepped into view. Two women and a man, all relatively young and armed. At least they kept their pistols holstered instead of aimed at them. With a surly expression and a biting tone of voice, one of the women, a young one with curl hair mentioned that she'd heard the shot, eyeing them all up suspiciously before drawing her gun. "Now that horde is sure as hell heading in our direction thanks to all of you pricks!"
"And if you shoot us, they'll be able to locate us even more precisely!" Rosita shot back, almost reaching for her own gun but instead just crossing her arms, not wanting to deal with this bullshit. She saw that the young woman was not even holding the gun correctly unlike the other two, but Rosita decided not to make a comment.
"We're not here to take anything", Rosita clarified. "No one has to get hurt. If we stay quiet? The dead won't wanna get in here, they'll just walk past."
A response from the male voice from above. "Alright, get them up here!"
Rosita's gaze wandered over to Kyleigh, hoping she would pick that rifle back up. Unless one of them would force her to hand it to them, that seemed like the smarter choice. She sighed as the curly haired woman held the gun to her back like Rosita was some damn hostage and led her up the stairs, the rest of the small group at least having the decency not to hold guns to anyone's backs as they led Irina and Warren upstairs.
Alright so if it didn't seem like a spill and all of this shit was too clean for how long it had been since the world ended, why was Kyleigh seemingly the only one freaking out? Keeping herself under control she listened to Rosita, the only one she really trusted in this small group so far. If she thought that it might be okay for them to keep going then she would. But if something went south Kyleigh would be the first one to let them all know that she had warned them first. She still didn't get why anyone would clean up after killing those things, unless they were a real germaphobe, or knew something more about all of this than anyone else. Which made the half lycan even more uneasy, resisting the urge to start pacing as she thought.
Kyleigh could also be overthinking this. She had a tendency to do that and Rosita could be on point with her explanation. Someone else might have seen that building and thought the same thing they had; that it was perfect for shelter. Clean it out, that way it would be easier to get some rest and stockpile goods. But what if that person had a shit ton of weapons on them too? And what if there were more than four of them? As a self proclaimed alpha it was normal for Kyleigh to want to protect her small pack and not take any risks. But if they hadn't done that so far they never would have gotten out of that damn camp in the first place. With a sigh she realized that they were going to head across that walkway, whether she liked it or not.
"As you wish."
There was so much more Kyleigh wanted to say, but she knew they were already making too much noise. She didn't like guns, rather preferred a blade when it came to self defense. But this was one of those special military grade ones with a scope. So if anything she could see a threat approaching long before anyone else in the group. Checking it quickly to make sure the safety was off and that it was loaded she raised it up and kept her finger near the trigger as she prepared for them to move forward. It was obvious that they were behind schedule on their time limit, so the faster they got this done the sooner they could take a break and form their next step in the plan.
Keeping her eyes in front of her the half lycan began to walk quietly over the much too clean floor, switching glances between the scope and in front of her. She wasn't sure if anyone else could hear it but their footsteps echoed off the walls, irritating her to no end. Thankfully they made it across the walkway with out incident, coming upon another set of doors. The handles and the glass in it were clean as well, no blood stains in sight. A quick look through the small window let her know that there were no bodies on that side either, giving her another uneasy feeling.
"Alright tighten up. We go through these doors together. Everyone keep calm and don't do anything stupid."
Her voice was barely above a whisper as she spoke. Before anyone could move Kyleigh checked around the doors for any hidden trip wires or traps, glad that she didn't find any. Keeping the gun held to her shoulder with one hand she very slowly opened the door with the other, only glancing down to the floor when she was sure it was safe to do so. No trip wires there either. She wondered if someone went through all that trouble to clean why they wouldn't set up some kind of warning system, but they were already walking through the doors so it was too late now.
Checking both sides of the area as the doors shut quietly behind them Kyleigh was relieved not to see an army waiting for them. This building was definitely cleaned recently, only a faint stain of blood remaining on the floor.
"Take another step and I'll blow all your heads clean off! Lower your weapon lady, now!"
A booming voice came from out of nowhere, the half lcyan quickly turning in all directions to try and a get a visual. Whoever it was must have been hiding but somewhere they could see all of them. Fuck, the ceiling! Why hadn't she thought of that?!
"I mean it!"
An audible click sounded, letting Kyleigh know that this person was armed and she cursed. With a groan she set the rifle down on the ground and held her hands up.
