New ship dynamic: who's the bull and who's the matador :)

I think, in this AU, Fernando is generally pretty fond of Seb when he first meets him. Like "ah yes my very own protégé, very nice, I shall mold him in my image." But then Seb starts veering off that course. Bullfighting is all about being dramatic, but Seb maybe has a bit too much(🤏) flair for the dramatic. This escalation starts while he's still Fernando's assistant but he keeps it generally at bay. But god when he becomes a matador himself, he's just off the rails insane.

Bullfighting, to me, is a sport about reckless endangerment of one's self in the pursuit of drama and performance(its literally described as a tragedy in three acts.) But Fernando thinks Seb endangers himself *too* much, not because he cares or anything, but he's making a mockery of the sport!! Especially when Seb starts doing that bull hand symbol(seen above), Fernando just keeps become more enraged with him, not anything to do with the fact that Seb is threatening his records and threatening his own wellbeing, nah of course not.

Seb's gesture is making a mockery of the sport, he's disrespecting the culture, the very nature of it, blah blah blah. Jenson once asks Fernando, after noticing him seething while watching Seb do his gesture, "Which bull are you really trying to defeat?" One could also describe Fernando and Seb's relationship as a "tragedy with three acts."

Anyways Fernando gets very tied up with this rivalry. Even after suffering a severe injury(I have yet to decide, but y'know mchonda electrocution core), he quickly returns to the sport, loath to let Seb get any more headway. And then Seb gets injured, poor little sweet Seb, and neither of them can handle it. Though I already covered this in my prev lore post 🤭 and I think I put it pretty viscerally there so!! I digress.

They're both matadors, but the bull itself is not the only bull Fernando wants to conquer. Conquer as in death? Hm.

Illya is younger than Napoleon (I usualy headcanon him at around 25 and Napoleon 35ish), so I think their use of social media would be quite different : hence Illya on Tiktok and Napoleon on Instagram. Also it's not the 60s so Illya can be like 10% less reppressed :)) but as a debuff Napoleon now has the technology to call him a nerd

Illya's page started as a cover for some affair, but he ended up kinda enjoying doing it in his free time. It's like a hobby for him, a way to experiment with fashion ! It's what made him want to pursue fashion design as a career after his curent spy job. And also I think he gets more and more nervous the more followers he gets, because as a spy having a chance to get recognise in the street is really bad dkdldlos Napoleon teases him endlessly that he became a tiktoker (as he should)-

Did I, at one point in the project, had to scrap the thirst trap idea to keep the fashion nerd vibes ? Yes I did, but just know he uses the "twink" tag :)

As for Napoleon, being older and less invested in this, an instagram made sense. But crutialy, I get such strong modern oss117 vibes from Napoleon (the way he shoots his gun, the goofy faces, the awkward stance everytime he enters a place, the inexplicable in universe rizz...) dkfkldls modern oss117 was a parody of both 60s james bond and older oss117 movies, but I'm now convinced they also whatched some uncle while doing these, it's just so obvious- anyway all this to say, in the second movie oss117 has to pose as a photographer and gets way too invested in his cover (it's his thing don't question it), and at the end of the movie we get to see all the photography he took during his mission..... Let me tell you how hard it was to resist him having an instagram full of blurry women on the street (canon 60s napoleon would have done it I'm sorry)- but what I kept was the pretty "badly" shot pics of random things, tho you sometimes get the odd decent pic taken by Illya. And he gets to be in a duck floatie as a treat and nod to oss <3

Dia's FFXIV Art Reference Notes, A possibly long post

Hello! I made this as a thread on my twitter but I might as well post a version of it here. For the record this will be a thread linking to the resources I use when drawing commissions or fanart, I have not made Any of these and whenever I can I will note the creators and link directly to their resources.

GPose Reference First and foremost, if you're drawing a WOL or ordering a commission of your WOL the most important thing is to take a proper reference GPOSE. I use the method in this post, to make sure I got all the angles. Clean refs are super important when drawing armor/intricate outfits so take care to take simple standing poses like the one in the tweet above. Cool dynamic poses might be fun but they're not really useful for referencing.

Gear/Weapon Reference

If you need good references for a weapon/outfit that you don't have a GPOSE for, I recommend using the attire website

This is a japanese website maintained by @/chiyo_asa on twitter and if you've ever looked up a piece of gear in the lodestone you've almost definitely come across their pictures.

This is a super rough translation in english of the menu of the website. While it is in Japanese it's very easy to navigate and all the pictures in the site are super high quality and very useful for referencing.

This is my number one source for gear references I haven't taken myself

The "mirapuri" button afaik is for glams they made themselves that they want to showcase.

An important note about this site specifically is that I believe it's currently undergoing an overhaul so Some weapons/gearsets might not be completely transferred in yet.

That being said, the majority of sets from dungeons/crafting/alliance raids/job gear sets etc are sorted like so, which makes it super easy to look for.

There IS also a search function but I'm pretty sure it works only for japanese input.

NPC reference sheets

@xivrefsheets Offers really detailed resources of npc models. They also occasionally accept requests on their ko-fi (closed at the time of writing this)

These are super useful and really high quality, especially for some of the boss refs they've done. As someone who doesn't use anamnesis I go back to their refs very often

Convocation of the Fourteen refs

Maintained by @/Igeyorhm on twitter this site has a nice list of Ascian refs per character in addition to some lore bits for each of them. Also some very useful closeups of the Ascian clothes.

Even more NPC and Boss Refs

I believe maintained by @/MlNRATHOUS on twitter, this site has a really nice array of major NPC and boss references in various angles and with colourpicks for skintone and hair which is super useful. I use them a Lot

Lalafell centric refs

Norirow Note is a super cute blog that showcases glam items/ weapons/ chocobo barding and more.

It is NOT meant to be an art reference, however if you play a lala like me, I find their showcases useful when drawing gear on lalas.

Even if you don't use it as an art ref it's a super cute blog that's just fun to go through AND fully translated in english so I recommend just having a fun time reading through it anyway.

Bonus- Au Ra Scales.

I literally found out about this today but @/saficchi on twitter has made a super detailed angled ref sheet for both male and female au ra scales and I love them for it

Bonus 2 electric boogaloo- TextTools

I use this to import 3d models of specific weapons into CSP if I'm drawing them.

I don't know how useful this is for other art software but it's saved my ass from freehanding titania weapons so in the thread it goes

now...you may be wondering: Why Do His Kids Get Refs For When They're Older, But Not Him? well...that's because, physically, he doesn't change much besides getting some more gray hairs and worse eye bags in the over a decade between his original murders and his death. and i've already done a ref for what O'Hare/Springtrap looks like in my design

yes, the Unhinged look in his eyes is intentional.

gave his younger self a pose that was meant to give off "rebellious teenager" vibes, and his older self a pose that gives off "bitter and anxious" vibes.

so while it's not shown here, "fun" fact! Liz died from where Harriet (Circus Baby) hugged her hard enough to break not just her spine, but her neck as well. (the hug was so strong due to Harriet malfunctioning that day)

all ghosts who have their souls tied to an animatronic have a mask of that animatronic that they can wear if they wish. Liz's mask is of Harriet.

Cassidy:

my baby boy. my beloved <3

those pants are pajama pants. he wore them everywhere.

while not visible, Cassidy also wears mismatched socks like Liz.

the Fredbear plush was a gift from Henry, given to Cassidy by Charlie.

was blind in one eye after The Bite.

The Bite wasn't as horrible as people think it was. what basically happened was that the teeth bit slightly into his head, which caused the bleeding, as well as some cracking in the skull and brain damage in his frontal lobe. due to the mechanisms in Fredbear being Very hot as well, it caused some burns. nothing that couldn't heal, but...it Was still pretty serious.

while The Bite itself didn't kill Cassidy, he still, as a ghost, appears to have a bleeding section of his head.

the strangulation marks on his neck are more visible as a ghost.

Cassidy, as a spirit, can occasionally leak a mysterious black fluid from his eyes and mouth, which is reflected on his Mask.

Cassidy is transparent as a ghost.

If there's one thing I'm proud of as an artist, it's the fact I'm a style chameleon. I decided to sit down and recreate 4 artists I really love, and who better to do it with than with the most varied character in the entire franchise: King Dedede! This isn't just for appreciation though, but a study on how other people translate DDD's design, since character design is a passion of mine!

Let's start with @miniiieevee!

Oh my gosh their art is super great, and I think the most important part of getting the style right was the sparkles. I have never seen someone do highlights this way, and it's both super recognizable and super cute! For the King himself, we have a nice round beak, visibly blue eyes, a distinct head, pointed crown jewel, an undershirt, and stripes along the top of the belt. Like most of us, they use the (owo) kind of mouth and really fluff up the coat. Separate fingers can also show up for posing, following Spongebob physics. The stitching on the gloves and the little round eyebrows are another really cool touch! Out of all of the styles I looked at, this one has the most pastel colors.

Next is @das-a-kirby-blog!

Das-a-kirby-blog has such a cool variety in their work, from really shapey sketches to super abstracted color schemes, which while super amazing, didn't provide me the best ref material. The colors here are frankensteined from a few sources, so I hope they capture their actual base color palette. They go for the pin-shaped route for body shape, with the undershirt (though sometimes there's no under layer), typically black eyes, extra belt stripes, and a chunky diamond shaped crown jewel. My favorite touch is the cottonball on the crown. Like I said at the top, they excel at shapes in their art!

Third is @jojo-schmo!

I've been silently reading their roleswap comic, but I should've been loudly reading it because I super recommend it! I'd also say design wise their Dedede is the most unique! Besides myself they're the only one here to pick the kimono, they have a single blue stripe at the top of the belt, a triangular jewel, and the coolest element of the style, spirals! I've not seen anyone stylize the trim this way, and it's so cool in execution. Another unique element that really adds to certain expressions is the spiky teeth (which matches real life penguins! ...Don't look it up).

Last but not least, @cosmicwhoreo!

God, their art is everything. The flow of the lines is so clean and smooth and everything they draw is super expressive. Their Dedede is by far the hugest, and also marks the 4/5 DDDs with a separate head, and 3/5 with black eyes. We have the belt stripes, occasionally a shirt, and a smooth tear drop jewel, but a uniquely shaped crown band. This design sees a lot of influence from the anime unlike the others here, so the color scheme is the most unique.

As a conclusion, it's really cool to see all the different design elements that we pick and choose for DDD. Some give him his smash outfit. Some people give him a body type closer to K64 or KATFL. Some people draw his eye color, or separate eyebrows, and others don't. There's no detail that's the same across every version, but they're all our lovable king. If you don't recognize one of these artists, check them out! I can only do a fraction of the incredible work they do, and let me know if there's any other characters or artists you'd like to see this exercise with!

timelapse & ramblings under the cut

i tried to put this in the tags but it was way too long so here are my.... ramblings? design notes? process? watever it is it's here now

killer is the one i changed the least, even the pose is pretty much the same i kept the asymetrical design from the dtiys (w/ one sleeve rolled up & only one shoulder w/ spikes) for the shoes i kinda went watever & put the spikes in the middle (i bet you it caused some of the holes in his jeans) i like to think he chose blue soles bc he did a collab w/ nightmare so that he's not the only one w/ cool colors his main color is still red, but i made the leather, t-shirt, metal & jeans blue-ish as a complementary color

for nightmare, i don't even know if his design is canon, but when i saw that the murder time trio did collabs w/ him i knew i had to draw it i didn't touch the base design itself but i switched the colors around a lot bc i really didn't know how to make it work w/ the rest of the characters i kept the base palette (blue/cyan, purple & pink) but had purple as a main & cyan as an accent color (pink itself is only there in the glitter) also yeah i put the glitter on his coat instead of his tentacles cuz i wanted to show his bones & tentacles are made/covered in the same goopy stuff, and the glitter kinda went in the way of that i like that his colors are really different from the other & you can tell he goes solo while they're in a band, but i think it's not too distracting

horror is my favorite, like he's just enjoying himself in the back its kinda sad i had to hide him behing both his drums & killer, i might post a version w/out it to show it off the drums were a pain in the ass ngl, i've never played them so i had to look at a lot of references in the end i just drew a basic drum set w/ the colors on the ref (red & gold), i added silver for the metal bits bc it's everywhere in the other's designs his design itself is unchanged, i just thought having him in red only felt boring so i added orange to his fur & shirt

i realized too late i couldn't show dust's head w/ the pose i drew T-T also drew his entire outfit then had to hide half of it because of his guitare this is why planning is important people his guitare rocks tho (pun intended) i tried to make him red & purple to match his eyes, but currently it's more of an orange salmon color w/ a dark grey pink eeeh the intent is there i guess i made his gloves fingerless cuz you can't tell me this dude plays guitare w/ full on gloves like i know they're skeletons but that's physically impossible i also added a strap to his guitare cuz unless he's using blue magic, he probably can't keep it up w/ only his right hand

I am planning to make hem based off of moths since that is both my favorite animal and insect , then just some references for how I want the eyes to look, how I want to blend render it and the general vide I want it to give off, another one of the poses I will be drawing it in, gloves , another eye ref ,color palettes, I want them to also resemble a broken porcelain doll I’ll go more into my reasoning of everything later, then some outfit ideas that will most likely be forgotten or changed

MTTebott is an Undertale Au that, everybody dies excpect for Mettaton and the 3° human and to fall is Frisk and their loyal dogfriend E.D. After Hapsta (aka mettaton) finally wakes up, with Frisk help, he find out that the whole Underground is dead, he question himself that It was Frisk who killed them all, and It wasn't. They both became friends and started to think what they could do, afterall, they are stuck down there.

Looking into Alphy's stuff, they find a old paper that she mencion the Multiverse. With that, Mettaton had an ideia: Why not turn the entire underground into a big attraction? If it works, it would be populous as before, he be famous and could even entertain the souls of those who have passed away, Frisk wondered if this would really work, but thei accepted, and now, let's talk about our big and only underground star! (Characters Ref. + Info undercut)

Hapstablook/Mettaton:

The Owner of MTTebott and the receptionist in the NEORuins! There aren't employees so he is also the bartender, chambermaid, cook, security guard and the list keep going... But he is the big attraction! Every single place in the underground have his face and mark, but you have to paid to go to the other places, of course, only NeoRuins is for free! You can have a nice coffee at the MTT Cafeteria, leave your pet in the MTT Animal Playcare, you can play at the large MTT Arcade, and more!!! Before you enter, he hands you a phone with his number on it, in case you want to call or just talk to him, he is free all the time! But, he decided to renew. He thought of a tactic of having more and more visitors, so he made more bodies, each of them with special abilities that were never seen again! New faces!That's what we are talking about!! With new bodies, new personalities, new shows, OH YES!!

Now that's attention-grabbing!! Paptton body is used for "COOKING WITH THE KILLER ROBOT!!" His arms can stretch out to make it easier to pick up objects in the air, his friendly smile to warm the hearts of the viewers and best of all, he can turn his arms into deadly weapons, if it's mandatory in the recipe, of course!

NeoSans is used for music concerts, or when Mettaton wants to add more songs to his albums. It has a better speaker, more poses, lots of outfits for any occasion and so much more!! Their songs are a perfect blend of calm and violence, of course.

Mettoriel It's for "METTATON'S EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM", teaching the alphabet, colors, respecting others' differences, how to take over the world!! The perfect theacher in the whole multiverse!!

Mettaton has other bodies too, but for now, we'll leave it as a surprise~

Simple Backgrounds | +$10 - low detail background with scene elements, small things that help to tell a story

Detailed Backgrounds | +$25 - Expensive because they take me forever and I'm not confident anywhere other than beach scenes and meadows. I cannot draw indoor scenes. If you order one of these, I'll be working on it between other commissions, so it'll take way longer to complete.

Reference sheets:

Basic | $25 - A front and back view for anthros/furries, 1-2 outfits for humanoids, and a sideview and back view for ferals/regular animals. Best for symmetrical characters

Simple | $35 - Similar to a basic ref sheet, but also includes a close-up of the face. This example honestly isn't the best, but it's the best I've got atm

Detailed | $50 - Three to four full body images - typically a front and back view and one or both side views - and a close-up of the face. Great for asymmetrical characters and fursuit refs. Not recommended for humanoids unless you just want a ref sheet that shows off different layers of a pre-existing outfit

Balloon doodles + gijinka!

(Explaining my design choices because I LOVE symbolism!!)

In my mind Balloon has always been represented by a sun, s1 has a little thundercloud on his button up shirt, implied that the cloud is hiding the sun (him hiding his true self through acting) I tried to fit a bit more 2000s-ish fashion into the s1 design just cause I think it would be funny, couldn’t find too many good refs though and I don’t think he’d go over the top with an aesthetic soo yeah! Short hair and less saturated eyes

S2 the sun is peaking out from behind the cloud, they’re showing their true self more and more even if he does revert back to acting a few times (yelling at Pickle in Everythings-A-OJ). Both the flower and bracelet are from Suitcase, the bracelet is in her color pallete, the flower is one the two collected during the baking challenge. I don’t know what the original flower was meant to be (with a bit of research it has the shape of a balloon flower but not the color), the one I drew is a Blue Flax (symbolizing wisdom, freedom, growth, devotion, commitment, and maturity). He is still wearing the same button up from s1, but over it is a soft cardigan. This is intended to represent how they’re trying to show how they’ve grown and become something new, but people still see who they used to be. Something about staying in the past, accepting the past, not letting it define you while also accepting it as someone you used to be. Hair is longer, eyes are more saturated and pulling in oranges and reds into the shadow bits

S3 is a Beach Outfit! They were going to a vacation so I assumed they’d dress more vacation-y, so they’ve got on swim trunks and a sleeveless hoodie thing I’ve seen around. Suns out! Guns out! Along with being in a more confident pose, the sun is finally away from the clouds on their hoodie. This Balloon has a accepted his past and is trying to show who he truly is. Swim trunks are teal as a little nod to his aura. Aro pin + sinkers pin for funsies. Hair is much longer, and eyes are bright, adding fun pinks in!

Aside from design interpretation, headcanons!! I added some of my design headcanons and other headcanons to the doodles. Most if not all of my hcs for them is just me projecting in some way

I have revamped Mella! I really really loved how @/keebs_draws (on instagram) depicted him in her Art Fight attack and was inspired to redesign him and make a new ref sheet.

🌈 PWYW Comms!!

Hello!! @llatimeria and I are both opening our commissions to help keep us afloat while we get our situation all sorted out! This time around I'm gonna go with a basic minimum price for each tier, and the more you pay beyond that, the more details/rendering/etc i can add!!

SKETCH - $15+

Sketches start at $15, which will get you a fully monochrome bust like the first one! (Can be any color, not just b/w!) The second one (fullbody with separate lines + 1 color) would be around $25. The third one (detailed bust with shading) would be around $50! This sketch tier is definitely the most variable of all of them, so we'd have a discussion to figure out a quote that works best for both of us!

I can also do sketches with multiple characters, interacting or otherwise! Each additional character in the image gets a discount of 25% from the original base price for the level of detail you wanted

ICON - $40+

These are more or less a flat rate! I don't have any current icon examples without shading, but $40 will get you flat colors, while $50 gets you shading like in these examples!

FULLBODY - $70+

Fullbodies come with flat colors by default, but can be discussed! The example on the left would be $70, while the example on the right (the same detail/rendering, but with multiple characters) would be $175! Each additional character in the image gets a discount of 25% (so an additional $52.50 per character for this example)

REF SHEET - $70+

Ref sheets start at $70, which will get you one like the first example! Ref sheets also come with flat colors by default. Each additional form/outfit/pose/angle/etc in the image gets a discount of 25%, so the second example here would be $122.50 total!

[BONUS] DOODLES - 100% PWYW

The doodles tier is the most wildcard tier, the effort put into them will reflect how much you pay :) This is the only tier that doesn't include any in-progress updates - you can request whatever details upfront, but the final drawing will be a surprise! You really just get what you pay for with this tier - if you pay a dollar, you're getting a $1 doodle!

If you, for whatever reason, want to put more than a couple dollars in for this tier, I'll most likely draw multiple characters in this style, like in my imp oc examples here, or i might throw some basic colors on it. Let me know if you have any preference!

Emergency Commissions

Hi everyone, so our only mode of transportation has become a running fire hazard :") There's a huge leak in the gas line and it will cost a pretty penny to get it bought and replaced, so right now we don't have a stable mode of transportation without also draining our wallets.

So I'm opening up commissions to help fund the repairs.

⭐We need a total of $315 to cover the difference. Every little bit counts. ⭐I will be temporarily dropping prices on my art because of this. ⭐If you would like to donate instead, here is my Ko-Fi and Paypal. I much prefer Ko-Fi, but I know not everyone has one. If you pay through Paypal please choose the friends and family option as that deducts less fees especially if we are both US. ⭐Please provide references and a description of the character. ⭐I can do humans, non-humans, furries, animals, creatures, trolls, DnD, and more just ask. ⭐I prefer to take half-half payments on larger commissions; you pay half in the beginning and half at the end. Complex Pixel Animation - $25 per hour

Takes longer to make but the end result is awesome! Please note that there is not a definitive base price for these because how fast I can complete this depends on the complexity of the requested character, style, and pose/action. We can talk about price negotiation in DMs.
