You're right, you don't owe your abuser sympathy. Your PTSD is valid; your trauma is valid; your reactions to it are valid. If someone is being abusive, it is good to call them out when you're in a safe position to. They deserve to have consequences for the abuse.
But are you a psychologist? Have you researched the symptoms and side effects of NPD? Are you sure it isn't another disorder that some of the symptoms might coincide with? Do you even know the percentage of people who are actually narcissistic? If you haven't done those things, have you heard of a licensed psychologist that diagnosed your abusers with NPD?
If not any of those things, why do you automatically assume your abuser has NPD? Can neurotypicals/people without cluster-b disorders not be abusive? Can they not rip your life apart just as much as narcissists can? Are people with cluster-b disorders the only people that can be abusers?
That's what the post is saying: That your abuser doesn't have to have a mental disorder to be abusive.
Nobody ever mentioned that mentally ill people are allowed to abuse and hurt whomever they want. They never said we should coddle them. They never said that mentally ill people are exempt from consequences. They never said that you should be nice to your abuser.
All they said was to use the right words for them because it could have an affect on other people who are working on themselves/innocent.
(Note: some people might've said what I said nobody said above. But they're a small percentage and don't represent what the original post, similar posts, or what I am saying).
I don't know who needs to hear this, but 99% of the time that ex of yours is not actually a narcissist or a sociopath simply because they sucked and you hate them. By using these words you are in fact demonizing actual mentally ill people, unlike your ex who is far more likely to just be an asshole
#Words can have a big impact (not saying you don't know that btw) so choosing the wrong ones#can make the world a worse place#and I know based on this reply that you don't want that#you want to make things better for you and other victims#you're very noble. I just think you're a little misguided on what the meaning of this post is.#(Also there are other victims in the notes who are agreeing with this post so I'm not pulling shtuff out my ass here haha)#(Might be interesting to look through those. Could help you see things in a different perspective more than this post can).#(Sorting by comments in the 'reblogs' tab helps with that)#Also I got curious about the percentage of people with NPD so I looked it up#I found it on Cleveland Clinic (I used to have quotes about it in these tags but it was formatted weird so I deleted it. I can send you the#link if u want) CC also has the symptoms of NPD and the explanations for them and ways to deal with someone with NPD if anyone else/OP want#to read it#bc it is important to know

house husband! Geralt x wife! reader
🏠🏠🏠
The house is quiet as you enter. More than usual. Your husband is a man of solace and silence, but you can often sense him when you get in. He's always around.
You put your bag on the bench, the one he built with the shoe rack below, and slip of your heels. You tuck them beneath and face the desolate house. The top of the stairs is eerie and the hallways leads to the mysterious unknown. You're building fantasies again. He always said you let your mind wander.
You peek into the front room. He's not there. Everything is in its place. The TV is black, the remote exactly as you left it. He doesn't watch it much.
You stop by the dining room next. A fresh bouquet from the garden but nothing out of sorts. Is he not there?
You get to the kitchen and sigh. He's probably gone to grab something he forgot. Oh well. You're patient. That patience needles at him.
You open the fridge and take out a can of sparkling water. You crack the tab and the ceiling groans. You wince before you can take a sip. You tilt your head and listen to the house.
Hm. Maybe it's the tree brushing against the roof. You slurp up the bubbles and hear another groan. This time it's not the house. You look up.
There's a soft tap on the ceiling. A steady knocking. You stare in confusion.
"Hello..." Geralt's deep timbre comes muffled through the plaster.
"Hello," you say back to the ceiling.
"How was your day?" He asks.
You snort, "fine. Are you in the ceiling?"
Silence. Another shift.
"Technically, I'm in the floor. Of the second level."
You set the can down carefully, "should I ask why or how?"
"Don't think it matters," he grunts. "It's itchy."
You could devolve into sheer madness. Your husband is as stober and stoic as a statue, but in that instance, you can't help but picture him squashed between the walls, pillowed by the itchy insulation.
"Do you need help?" You ask.
Another pause.
"Yes."
You smile while you can. You need to get it out while he can't see you. You smother your mouth and rush out of the kitchen. You stop at the bottom of the stairs and let yourself shake in a silent fit of laughter. You exhale and make yourself go up.
"So how..." you slow as you see the floorboards, pried away from the planks. "Ah."
"There was a draught and I thought... well, I think I've fixed the problem, really."
"I know you have. You always do," you assure him. You see his sock as his foot wiggles.
"Are you mocking me?"
You nearly choke, "nope."
"It sounds like you're laughing."
"Not anymore," you assure him. "So... what do I do?"
"Just need a tug," he points his foot. "If you don't mind."
You get down and grip his ankle. You lean back on your knees and grunt. He pushes backwards and slides a few inches. You try again. It's slow work as he wriggles then hisses.
"Are you stuck?" You heave on him as hard as you can.
He huffs and snarl. "I can get out, I'm just... resting."
"Sure," you pat the back of his leg.
"Just--" He grunts and shimmies back a little further. As he does, you pinch his backside. He growls.
"Can't help myself," you smack him for good measure and grab the crowbar.
You stand and line it up with another footboard. You pop it loose as Geralt grunts. "What are you doing?"
"Getting you out," you assure him. "As always, saving you hide."
He sighs. You diligently uncover his top half. He pushes himself up and looks at you. "My dear wife, I don't deserve you."
"Uh huh..." you look around. "So, looks like you have something to do tomorrow."

Forgive me, but I'm new to Tumblr and thus am a bit "slow" when it comes to how things work.
I saw in your bio (status? Description? Whatever you call the thing on a profile) that you help when something something, so I figured you were a good place to start!
How does this platform work, exactly? I get that there are the posts on the front page and the questionnaire you fill when you make an account, but aside from that, they kind of drop you in without a map XD
What's with the #'s, why is everyone so forcibly autistic and gay (no problem, just a bit confusing as an outside observer), where do I go to get where I want to?
Sorry if this seems scatterbrained as a question, but I am bloody lost XD
Tyvm,
Dragon.
First of all, welcome! Of course I am happy to help!
Second of all, Tumblr is kind of the gay and neurodivergent website. Asking why we are this way is kind of like going to a food blog and asking why there are so many recipes. It's just sort of the place we've chosen to gather amongst friends.
As for how the site works... well, most days it doesn't, but through the power of will you can make it do stuff.
So if you look at the top bar of the site (or if you're on mobile, the bottom corner with the little pencil in a colorful circle), you'll see you can make several different kinds of posts. MOST posts on this site are going to be text or photos, very few posts will be anything else, but it happens. You can make your own posts ("posting") or you can use the circular arrows button to reblog someone else's post ("reblogging"). Reblogging a post places a copy of a post on your blog for others to see, and is highly encouraged as the main form of community. Reblogging maintains connection to the original poster, who retains credit and can see where the post goes and who likes it. This is good!! There is another form of post that is BAD, and that is taking the content of someone else's post, making a new post, and posting it as a fresh post- this is called reposting, and it WILL get you blocked by... pretty much everyone as it's widely considered stealing. Reblogging (using the arrows button) is GOOD, stealing someone's stuff and making a new post is BAD.
The #'s are called tags, and they are NOT like tags on instagram or twitter (at least, not ONLY). On tumblr, the first few tags in any original post are used as a way for the site to file posts you MAKE into "the tag" (singular) which is what comes up when you use the search function. So, if you tag something "Birds" and then you go search "birds" you post should show up in that tag's feed. HOWEVER. Since this ONLY happens for original posts, and you can add tags when you reblog stuff, tags on reblogged posts are just for talking in ways that aren't designed to follow the post. People use the "the tags" (plural) to talk to their followers, to talk to OP, to add clarification, to answer other tags in the notes of posts, etc, and they use it as a filing system for their own blogs (if you search ON THEIR BLOG only, you can search the words they normally use for tags to find stuff, and this works for reblogs too. it actually doesn't WORK work, you'd be better off using google to find stuff on people's blogs. tumblr is a functional website). So if you MAKE post, your post gets seen in The Tag of each tag you add for the site's general search function, and if you REBLOG a post the tags only matter to your blog's search function (and whoever is following you or reading the notes). If you want, you can reply in the body of a reblog post, but what you reply will follow the post around if someone reblogs it from you. Most people try to keep that form of post addition to relevant info. Tags are kind of like using your indoor voice to talk to a little group of friends, vs adding to a post in the body which is like having a megaphone.
You get to "the notes" by clicking on the number in the bottom left of any given post. You can see replies, tags and comments, and likes, on different tabs. "Liking" a post does not feed an algorithm here; this is a place which scorns algorithms. We spread things by hand, by reblogging them.
If you want to find creative work here, you can search the site for tags that might interest you. If you like birds, for example, you might search the site for "birds" or "bird" or "feathers" or "peacock" or "bluejay" or whatever birds you want to see. You have the choice to follow a tag (not recommended, as anyone can post spam to tags) or to scroll through the tag and click on the usernames of people posting things you like. Scroll through their blogs a little ways (10-20 posts) to see if you like their general vibe/whatever they're posting, and if you do like it, follow them! Following another user will then place them on your dashboard (the little house icon at the top or bottom takes you to your dashboard, or dash). Your dash amalgamates all the people you follow into a feed that you can scroll, kind of like following reddit forums (maybe?? I don't really use reddit so don't quote me).
You can scroll your dash to see posts you like (typical) or if you have the fortitude, you can become a tag diver. Tag divers are time honored and respected members of the tumblr ecosystem. These are folks who go into the main tag (for example, search the site for "birds" and scroll it) and look for good posts to reblog/queue. People then follow tag divers to see just the good posts from The Tag, without the spam or off topic or whatever stuff.
There are other sections of the site, like "for you" but idk what they do. Hardly anyone that's been here long term uses that. It's the closest to an algorithm as you'll get on the site, and we're very anti algorithm.
I mentioned a "queue" and that's another vital part of tumblr, and something unique to tumblr that makes it very special. You have the ability to either post instantly, OR.... you can add a post to your queue. The queue collects posts you put into it, and spits them out at regular intervals throughout the day, according to the preferences you set. So, mine is set to post I think 3 times a day. I've had it set as high as 20 times a day before, but it's usually at 3-5 depending on how many posts are in it. You can queue up to 1000 posts at a time. If your queue is full, you can add posts to your "drafts" section to queue or post later (or just post them). There's a post limit per day (I think it's 300? I could be wrong), so you can only make 300 posts a day. You may or may not ever hit that, but it exists.
If you want to view your notifications, you can find them in the lightning bolt on the webpage, or the little chat bubble on the app. You can filter activity, which is a great tool.
I think that's mostly the basics, although I am sure people will add more info in reblogs. You can find their added info by clicking on the "notes" in the bottom left of this post and then clicking on their reblog title. You can try doing a reblog by reblogging this to respond!

tumblr updates that were actually good (mostly mobile focoused):
1. this was forever ago but dms. glad we get dms
2. polls
3. making it easier to see the dates of posts
4. making tags easily visible in the notes!!!! (huge win)
5. making it so search results show reblogs / but making it so you can filter that out (at first this bothered me bc it was Different but it did actually turn out helpful
5. blazing posts - it was a pretty clever way to monetize the site, and sometimes you get to see unexpected cat pictures bc of it
6. making it so you can sort notifications by type
7. making it so you can mark posts as explicit
8. increasing photo limits when posting on desktop
9. colored text
10. commenting from side blogs
tumblr updates that were neutral
1. tumblr tv (it's ok bc it's easily ignored and kinda funny)
2. the badges (pretty lame but easily ignored, and the remind me of deviantart which i can somewhat appreciate, even if it does NOT work here)
3. communities
4. the squares that you click on that show you the tags you follow
tumblr updates that were kinda annoying
1. making the "for you" page into a tab on your home page you scroll through, that's given equal weight as the dashboard
2. making community posts interrupt your dashboard and for you page but you can't like them unless you join the stupid community
3. making it so when you're looking at a picture up close you "can scroll down to see related images" (will accidently scroll down and get jumpscared by it)
4. changing the notification symbol from speech bubble to lightning bolt
tumblr updates that were godawful choices
1. directing attention away from desktop blog pages and making it so having ur blog as a site is an opt in thing. i get that this was sorta happening naturally anyway, like ppl were getting less intrest in blog themes and stuff - but they didn't need to play into it!
2. tumblr live
3. this hasn't happened to me yet but ive seen screenshots: rounding out the squares
4. any time that they've changed the shade of blue. and also the increased incorporation of black
5. that period of time were they took away the cute little swirly post circle on mobile
6. making it so when you click in a post it takes you to the TOP OF SOMEONES BLOG!!!! or to a page with just the post and some recs. makes me so mad

alright, so i've seen a couple posts similar to this but i wanted to add some things:
if you are coming to/back to tumblr from tiktok, welcome! here are a few things that will help you get started:
1) when setting up your profile, make sure to set a pfp and banner so you look less like a bot. people don't typically show thier face here and anomyinity is encouraged, so it can be of whatever. you can also hide your likes in settings - most tumblr users do
2) you can turn on timestamps in settings. if nothing else i highly recommend turning on timestamps, or you'll be missing a lot of context on your dash (i could not tell you why timestamps are off by default.)
3) tumblr doesn't have an algorythim - it just shows posts from ppl you follow in chronological order, so likes are used moreso as a wave to a friend or a hug than to help spread the post. if you want to help spread the post you reblog it, and if a mutual is ranting about an irritating coworker you give it a like. some people also use their likes as a sort of saved posts folder
"but i see a tab that says 'for you'?" you may be saying. and yeah, that exists, but it doesn't work very well, so most users ignore it
4) Make sure to tag things correctly. Putting unrelated tags on a post won't help more people see it - you'll just end up irritating people who go to #dogs and your parrot is there instead. Tags also help people avoid triggers and topics that they don't like, so it's important to tag sensitive topics acurately since words like "kill" and "suicide" are allowed here. dodging the word itself by adding numbers or misspelling it only hurts people who find it upsetting
the only big topic that's not allowed here is (notoriously) NSFW content. you'll still see it a lot from bot accounts, ane text based NSFW is fine if tagged correctly. Illustrated NSFW sometimes makes it past the filter if artists are creative with it
5) Block tags! This is useful for mental health reasons, but also, is there a new show you haven't seen yet and you want to avoid spoilers? You can add tags to your filtered list in settings and take them out after you watch the show. Following someone who's now obsessed with a movie have no interest in but don't want to unfollow them? Just block the related tags. Love scrolling through a tag for a show you like but hate a popular ship? Block the ship tag(s)
6) every post here has a comment section, and a reblog section (unless OP turned them off). I often use the comments to talk in posts if it's a more private conversation (IE the annoying coworker example from earlier), but most talking will happen in the tags. When you reblog a post, the person you reblogged from will get a notification as well as the original poster, so you can use this to chat to the previous blogger (prev) and/or to talk to OP. I'll put some talk-y tags on here so you have an example of what that might look like (Also you can't put commas in tags. Spaces are fine but no commas. Why? great question)
7) you can also add to the main post when you reblog something. typically people do this if they have something signifigant to add to the conversation, as opposed to talking about TV characters the post reminds you of or saying smth along the lines of #same
8) you can get to the original post from a reblog chain by clicking where the date of posting is. the date will be off by default for some reason, like i said earlier. clicking this is useful if you want to read OP's tags or if you want to remove additions to the bottom of a post and reblog the original thing
if you have questions, drop them in the comments and i'll answer if i can, either about the culture here or how to navigate settings!
#tiktok refugee#tiktok refugees#tiktok ban#mine#hi there! this is an example of talking in the tags#usually ppl will put extra info in front or in back of the organizational tags like this#it's kind of like whispering to a friend as opposed to standing up and saying something with your whole chest#(Though your tags will still be publicly visible!)

Your favorite fanfic writer doesn't know (but would like to)
Let's talk about comments on fanfics. This is not meant as a guide or call to action, just a bit of observations. Personally, I always saw it as impolite to ask for reviews or kudos or comments or likes or reblogs or whatever. That's not a rational point of view, it just reflects how I am. And people actually telling others that they have to leave any of this feedback? I've blocked folks over that. In my mind that's not okay. I'm not announcing a change of that, this is not a policy, just some deep-seated mental issues, but I want to write down some more things that have been going through my mind, from the perspective of someone who occasionally writes fanfics. My previous suggestion in this regard was mostly to write some fanfic yourself and see what happens and what you'd like to happen, because it's genuinely fun and I think you probably have more to say than you realise.
But there's also another point here, and that is that your favourite fanfic writer has no idea that they are. If you're anything like me, then it will seem like the great writers in your fandom are obvious. Also, the last time you bought Blåhajs, it ended with you having to flee a smoke-filled subway tunnel. The great stories and great writers in your universe are facts of nature. You read a story and you think, "this is the greatest thing I've ever seen." A story rewires your brain chemistry forever. You keep coming back and reading that one fic whenever the mood hits you. It feels obvious that this story is great. How could it not be?
It feels trite to say that the author of that fic doesn't know that unless you tell them, but it's hard to really understand the feeling unless you've been there yourself. You write a story, but is it any good? Maybe you get a lot of kudos, or maybe very little, but what does either of that mean? Kudos can mean literally anything from "loved this" to "didn't close the tab in disgust". Maybe you just got unlucky. Maybe you just got lucky. What do these numbers mean? What is a good number of kudos? 1? 10? 100? 1000? Should I calculate ratios? How do I know whether people like this?
In light of this, a comment where someone just said, "I loved this", has an almost incalculable worth. A comment where someone says they read this over and over again, or quotes lines they loved, or something? You can't imagine how valuable that is. A while ago someone told me "a couple of us are talking about this on Discord, we love it and we keep repeating our favorite lines". I thanked them, but I was too polite to say, "really? What are they saying? Which are your favorite lines? How many people are there who love it? What are their names? Which lines are the favorite ones, please, tell me!". Part of me still regrets that, because I so desperately want to know! I don't think it was a public Discord and I never heard from the others on it, but just the idea that they're out there and they like my story was so powerful. (By the way, it's not on any account that's linked from here, please don't try to find that comment.)
Now, I firmly believe that you, as a reader, don't have to care about any of that. I know there are people who disagree with me on this point, very strongly in fact, but I don't think it's necessarily your job to care. It's great if you do, and I think a lot of you do in fact care, that's why I'm writing this. But if you haven't thought about that or don't feel comfortable leaving comments or whatever, that's fine, that's normal, and you are in fact part of the majority. Any well-adjusted fic author has found ways to deal with this. They have learned to love writing for its own sake, or they love re-reading their own fics, or they have a couple of trusted friends who like their work, or ideally all three. Personally I was scared of Discord for the longest time, but it really helps with that. One person who you sort of know going "hey that's neat" can outweigh just about anything else. (Still, there will be days when you post something and you won't get a response and that just plain sucks, no two ways about it.)
But if you do care, if you think it's important that a fanfic writer knows what they mean to you, not because of any concern about the wider unpaid fan creator economy but just because of the way their work affected you, then this is important. Your favorite fanfic writer probably doesn't know and/or believe that they're anyone's favorite, and even if they do, a reminder or learning that someone knew found them will make them incredibly happy. And obviously, all of that applies at least just as much to all the beginners with potential that are out there. So if you're wondering whether it's worth it leaving a comment that says how much you enjoyed something: It probably is. And if you shared this with others and they loved it, or if this is your favourite fic, or if you enjoy how original it is, or how well it does your favourite tropes, or anything like that, the writer is going to be so happy to hear that.
A final aside: This obviously applies even more when it's about fandoms, pairings, subject matter and in particular ratings that are considered a bit embarrassing. Writers who write stuff that, say, happens to be E-rated for whatever reason, doesn't matter, will probably get fewer kudos and comments just because people are embarrassed to have their names show up in the Kudos and Comment sections. If that's you, just a note that it is perfectly okay to comment anonymously, or to create a second separate account for leaving kudos on, commenting on and maybe even posting the somewhat more risqué stuff. Now I'm not saying I have one of these second accounts, at least I'm not saying that in public, but it is an option worth considering.

Truth or dare - Joe Toye x F!Reader
Summary: Could taking Toye's cigarette from his mouth on a dare be the push Reader and him need to cut the recent tension in their friendship?
Warnings: Cursing, heavy make-up, suggestive ending. 1st person POV (female, no use of y/n).
A/N: I have the biggest respect for the real life heroes of WWII (and all other wars, past & current), this work & all other works is based on the actor(s) and character(s) portrayed in the Band of Brothers series.
A/N pt 2: This is the second fic I've posted today and I'm really hoping it's good. The ending leaves room for a possible smut part 2 if anyone is interesting. Comments, likes, reblogs mean everything to me. Thank you & enjoy!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"What's so funny?" I ask as I sit down at the nurses table in the mess hall. I got there just in time to grab the last bits of lunch options before my shift starts.
"We are playing 'truth or dare' and Emily just had to answer who she'd rather kiss: Tab or Luz." Betty told me between giggles.
"Well? Who'd you pick?" I shoot Emily a smirk, already knowing her answer as we've been the only ones in our group that came from Toccoa and therefore the closest.
"Tab." Her face gets redder, as if that was possible, then she gets a mischievous look in her eye. "Your turn. Truth or dare?"
"Dare." I know she knows too much dirt on me to let her ask a question. But judging by the smile spreading on her face, I'm not sure I chose correctly.
"Go get that cigarette Toye is smoking." Her smile widens as the girls within earshot say 'oh' and some whistle.
Joe Toye is not someone that most of the nurses like dealing with. Not that he's rude or inappropriate, he just intimidates them. Not as bad as Spiers, but they put him right up there. From an outsiders point of view I can understand, he's not overly friendly like most of the guys in Easy you have to work a little to weasel past the hard exterior.
For myself, all I had to do was shoot Tab down for the billionth time back in Georgia as I was wrapping up his ankle that he twisted on yet another Currahee run. Don't get me wrong, I like Tab but not in that way and the quicker I could make him understand that the sooner we could just enjoy being friends.
Right when I was finishing up with his wrap, he started to say another pick-up line and being at my wits end I snapped a little. Grabbing his ankle I put enough pressure on it that made him stop talking and sit up straighter.
"Tab, if you come onto me one more time I will break your ankle. Do you understand me?" I kept my voice low and hard, maintaining direct eye contact so he knew I wasn't playing. With a small gulp, he nodded his head and I put on my most charming smile. "Wonderful, now take it easy with that ankle. If Sobel gives you a hard time about it, let me know and I'll put in a word with my supervisor to find a reason to annoy him."
With a final nod, I got him off the bed and started to help him to the door when a hand pushed me to the side and took my spot next to Tab. My protest died on my lips as I came face to face with Toye.
"I can take him from here, ma'am, thanks." He threw Tab's arm over his shoulder and started moving to the door. Two steps later he looked over his shoulder back at me with a small smirk on his face and said, "Remind me to not piss you off when you're fixing me up." Without waiting for a reply, he turned back around and kept himself and Tab moving.
From that day forward a friendship of sorts grew and since landing in Europe and dealing with the horrors of the war in our faces everyday, we'd grown even closer. The past few weeks things are taken a turn to being more flirty with beginning stages of intimacy. Jokes whispered in each others ears just so we can be closer than normal, fingers touching when handing each other items, lingering hugs, forehead and cheek kisses. It was all adding up and creating a tension neither of us seemed ready yet to break but didn't want to dispel either.
Emily's foot nudging mine under the table breaks me from my memories and makes me send her a glare. She's fully aware of the gray area Toye and I are in at the moment and seems to be all too happy to add fuel to that fire. I give a loud sigh and look around till I find him sitting a few rows to our left, sitting with Guarnere and Buck. Inwardly I groan, those two are never going to let me live this down.
With a final glare in her direction, I stand up and make my way over towards the guys. I can feel all of the girls eyes on my back which does nothing in helping me stay calm.
All three of them see me at the same time and smile in greeting.
"Hey doll, how's it going?" Buck asks as I sit across from him, next to Toye.
"About to go on shift, thought I'd say a quick hi and get a smoke." I shrug, trying to sound nonchalant.
"Here ya go." Bill tosses his pack my way from next to Buck.
"Thanks, but uh, I think I'll take this one." Before I can over think it, I pluck the cigarette resting between Toye's lips and take a long drag. I blow the smoke right in his face, hoping it'll hide how red my face is and stand up quickly. "Always a pleasure."
I practically jog to the nurses table, ignoring the laughs and 'good jobs' as I grab Emily by the arm and force her to leave the mess hall with me. I don't let go of her until we are nearly at the medic station. With a final puff I toss my stolen cigarette into the road and turn to face my friend that hasn't stopped beaming at me since I grabbed her.
"What?!" I sound almost frantic.
"Oh calm down, it's not the end of the world. It was just a cigarette."
"How do I even begin to explain what that was?" I put my hands on my hips.
Emily shrugs and flicks some invisible dust off her shoulder, "Just tell him that it was dare. But honestly, I don't think he really cares why you did it. The way he was looking at you as we left was more than mild interest. You're welcome." She pats my cheek and goes into the medic station, leaving me with no choice but to groan and follow her.
It doesn't take long for me to push the earlier experience from my mind and become overwhelmed with current and new patients in need of varying medical attention. Most are stable and just need an easy wrapping or cleaning up. There's a few that have been with us for a little while that still need monitoring but they're in relatively good spirits so it helps make the shift not too depression.
It's fully dark outside when I finally am able to step away and take a breather. With a signal to Emily letting her know I'll be around back, I slip out quietly and lean against the backwall of the building. I can't be alone more than a few minutes when I hear footsteps heading my way. I just want to be alone. But my annoyance goes away when I see who it is.
Neither of us speaks as he stops right in front of me and tucks a lose piece of hair behind my ear.
"You okay?" His words are soft and light, barely above a whisper as if he's afraid anything louder would break the small bit of peace we've managed to get in this hidden area. All I do is nod, not wanting to elaborate on the different faces and wounds I've been dealing with the past hours. His response is to pull me in his arms and spin us around so that his back is against the wall and I'm leaning against him.
We stay like that for a bit, listening to the noises on the street and each other breathing. It's nearly enough to make me fall asleep when I feel his chest rumble and the question I've been dreading is asked.
"So what was that at lunch?" I groan into his chest before pushing back far enough to look at his face. Fuck Joe Toye for being beautiful and sexy at the same time when he allows himself to give a full smile, not just a smirk.
"The girls were playing truth or dare and that was my dare. Sorry." I shoot him a small smile and pray he just drops it. He gives a small hum as he takes in my words.
"Well then, truth or dare?" He leans more against the wall, waiting for my answer. I gape at him.
"You can't be serious." The intimidating Joe Toye is trying to play 'truth or dare' with me? What the fuck.
"I'm always seriously," Joe winks, "so, truth or dare?" The glint in his eyes tells me there is no safe choice.
"Dare." I'd rather do something stupid than be asked something I'd rather not answer right now.
The silence stretches between us almost to an unbearable point, making me start to fidget in his arms.
"Close your eyes." His words make me freeze and my face scrunches up in confusion.
"That's my dare?" I'm trying to figure out what the catch is, but I can't find one.
"Close. Your. Eyes." His voice leaves no room for argument and since it's not anything crazy all I can do is comply.
With my eyes closed I try to use my others senses to figure out what his next step is. At first all he does is stand up straighter, move one hand up my back and gently cups my cheek. Joe pulls me a little closer to him and then I can feel his breathe on my lips.
"I'm going to do something now and I only want you to respond if it's something you really want. If you don't, just push me away." I barely finish processing his words when his lips brush against mine softly, teasingly.
When I don't make a move to push him away, he gently pecks my lips still in a teasing manner. The next time his lips touch mine I grab onto his jacket to hold him there and kiss him back. At the feel of his tongue tracing my lips I open my mouth and let him have complete control.
We lose track of time staying wrapped up in each others arms, making out like teenagers. We break apart at the same time when we finally need air. I'm not sure what comes over me but I kiss along his cheek, making my way to his neck and begin nipping at his exposed flesh. The hand that had been on my check moves to my the back of my head, fisting my hair but not moving me away. His breathing is becoming more ragged and when a groan escapes his lips from a particular bite I leave I feel like I've died and gone to heaven. As my tongue works to sooth the sting, the hand that was on my back drops down and grabs my ass, pushing my hips against his, letting me feel his erection.
"Joe." His name comes out as a whimper mixed with a moan and that makes him grind against me again.
Just as we are about to kiss again, someone clears their throat and we freeze.
"Very sorry to interrupt, and believe me I am sorry, but I need help checking wounds and restocking the stations." Emily's voice is both amused and apologetic.
"Yeah, I'll be right there, Em." My voice comes out much too ragged but it's not like she doesn't know the reason at this point. I wait till her footsteps grow faint, before beginning to pull away from Joe. He's slow to let me go and only manages to move his hands back to my waist.
"I should be off in a few more hours...can I come find you after?"
"No need, I'll be waiting outside for you. I believe we have some things to finish." He pulls me flush against him, making his point perfectly clear. Before I can think of a cheeky response, he gives me a final, firm kiss and spins me around towards to way back inside the building.
I walk a few steps, then turn around and shoot him an innocent smile, "No touching before you find me, Toye. I have a few ideas on how to spice up 'truth or dare'." I laugh lightly to myself when all I can hear as I round the corner to the building entrance is Joe cursing.

Put it on My Tab (19)
Pairing: Jason Todd x Fem!reader
Warning: Frustration, Online Gaming, and Revelations
A/N:
Please comment/like/reblog. If you’d like to be tagged moving forward, please let me know! I’d also greatly appreciate it if rebloggers remember to add the tags (or some at least).
As always, a huge thank you and shout out to @harlequin-hangout for the amazing banners you made for me.
If you’re new to the story, please check out the master post for the rest of the chapters.

All occupants of Wayne manor knew Jason was in a sour mood. To what extent or why was not clear, but it was obvious in his lack of snippy banter and increased silence, and when he did respond, it was sharper than usual. It was as if he was regressing back to the days when he was still finding his footing amongst them. He and Bruce never had an outwardly discussion clarifying everything, but there was something that was done to help build a new foundation, regardless oh how shaky that was.
They tried to approach the second Robin in a variety of ways, trying to unearth the reason for the sudden slip into anger. Some thought Bruce and him had an argument, while others thought there may be trouble in the Outlaws. Neither was able to confirm their suspicions, and any attempt to do so was met with aggression and deflection.
Annoyed by all their brown nosing, Jason left the manor and spent the next couple of nights at his own apartment. Of course, I’d have no privacy in a house full of detective vigilantes. He rolled his eyes as he rolled out of bed and made his way over to his computer. Plopping onto the chair, he let it wheel backwards before pulling himself forward by the desk. He stared at the game icon on his desktop for what felt like the umpteenth time today. His fingers drummed just below his keyboard as he eyed his mouse, which rested only a couple inches away. I can’t just log on and act like I haven’t been gone in forever. She’s probably pissed that her online buddy has been MIA for so long. He ran a hand through his hair and leaned back, the chair reclining with his weight. This is my only way to even speak to her, though. I cleared up the bill crap, maybe I can meet her again through here? Fake that I didn’t know who she was? Not like she’d ever know that I knew anyway. Pursing his lips to one side, he intensely stared at his ceiling, as if it held some sort of secret that would aid him in his decision to long on or not.
“Fuck it, I’m logging on!” The seat swung forward with him as he sat up and logged onto the game.

Arkam_Knight has logged in. The italicized text popped up on the screen, much to Y/N’s surprise. Her character was currently standing in the town square looking at the request board for something that was easy enough for a solo hunt. Seeing the name of her dearly miss comrade was an answer to her desperate pleas for some miracle because there was no mission that allowed solo entry. She eagerly opened the chat box and began to type.
<Well aren’t you a sight for sore eyes! Where have you been?! I would’ve called the police for a wellness check, but I don’t have a clue on where you live.> She watched the ellipses bounce then vanish repeatedly for a couple of minutes. The longer he took to reply, the more concerned she was becoming. An unknown weight slowly creeped onto her shoulders. Anxious thoughts spun around in her mind. The distant ding of his response was able to rip her from the thoughts.
<Yeeeaaah, my bad. Work was crazy and shit had me all over the fucking place trying to clean up. I can’t go into detail, a lot of confidential crap.>
<Yeah, I figured. So, I know you can’t tell me what you do for a living, but I’ve come to the conclusion that you’re working as a high level officer of some kind. I won’t ask you what branch, but sounds like you do work city wide, which I have no clue how you handle that.>
<Someone’s gotta do the dirty work, right? It ain’t for everyone. It just so happens that I’ve got a knack for it.> He added a little proud sticker. <You’ve been MIA yourself, I’ve logged in a few times and saw you hadn’t been on in a while.>
<Where do I even begin? Life has been kicking both of us in the asses, it seems.> She sent an exhausted sticker. She paused for a few minutes, staring at her blinking cursor. How was she going to explain it all to him? Would it even be believable? She, herself, also found it hard to swallow was true. From dealing with Waynes to meeting two of Batman’s partners to being part of a claim investigation because of the collateral damage to the building.
I thought dealing with snobby rich kids and wild Karens was as crazy as my life was going to be. Who knew I’d be entangled with crime fighters and a Trust Fund kid. She slumped in her seat, slowly tapping at the space bar to let him know she was still there. Erasing the long gap of emptiness, she sat up once more.
<Give me a sec, gotta organize my thoughts on this.>
<Damn, that much? Take your time, I’m here.>
<Thanks.> She smiled at the animated thumbs up sticker was sent. At least I still hot my friends.

Jason sank back into his computer chair, rocking back and forth and swinging side to side as he awaited for her response. Watching the symbol of her typing appear and disappear multiple times was far more torturous than he anticipated. He knew what she was going to tell him, he was there with her. She did not know that, and he did not know how she took any of it. The only thing he could rely on were the facts, but that did nothing for his nerves.
If someone told him that he would wake up one morning in a hotel room next to a stranger, who knew how to get under his skin and take over his thoughts, he would have laughed at them. If they told him she was his online gaming buddy as well, he would have scoffed the added detail and never spoken to the person for being out of their mind. And yet, here he was, months later, talking to that very strange woman, battling between keeping in touch and cutting all ties.
If things could just go back to when we didn’t know each other, it could just be simpler. I can’t even game with her without feeling some sort of way. He rubbed his chest as that uncomfortable weight sank onto his heart. I should’ve just paid the bill and let it be. Why did it matter if she knew me or not? I knew she got screwed over because of me, I should’ve just ended it as soon as I found her. His irrational actions bothered him. He was a cold and calculating vigilante that played by his own rules. He even ran the crime world for a time when he was completely at odds with Batman and was blinded by his heightened rage. He survived death and a beating from the Joker. Handling a hotel bill for a girl should not be this difficult, and yet here he was stuck in quicksand. He glanced at his computer monitor and his eye twitched at the site of the dots vanishing again. “What is she doing, right a novel?!” He threw his hands up and heaved a heavy sigh.
He swung his chair straight at the ding and leaned in close to the monitor, skimming the paragraph before forcing himself to read from the start.
<Ok, Dickens, you didn’t tell me you were publishing a novel! Lol, give me a sec to read all this.>
It started off as he expected, she mentioned their first few meetings and how she fumbled with trying to hide herself. He could not help the snicker that came at her admission of being angry at him, but a grin quickly took over when she confessed that she found him good-looking.
“Damn right, you did! I’m fucking handsome!” He boasted, puffing his chest with pride before diving back into the text. I came that night and those pricks were there, ok, Nightwing and Red Robin came crashing through the window, fine, so then-wait, what the fuck! His gaze snapped back to the two mentioned vigilantes and the incident he was not aware of at all. “When the fuck did this happen? Did Dickhead do this on purpose?! I’m going to enjoy getting answers out of him later.” He cracked his knuckles as a wicked smirk took over. He carefully read through the incident and soon realized that this was in fact a coincidence, but his ‘darling’ older brother failed to mention it to him. At least they left her a tip.
Pushing forward, he read about the following insurance claim filing that was on going to prove that this was not something staged. Then there were her concerns about a particular caffeine addicted young teen who was another Wayne with another name. His mind instantly flashed to the memory of Tim’s coffee cup.
Don’t tell me he’s in on it too! Nosy assholes, Jason was ready to flip his computer table but kept his composure. No, he can’t be. He hasn’t been asking me shit or tailing me in any way. That means this is just his need for coffee, and she makes damn good coffee. He reasoned himself back into a state of calm to read onwards. The name of the detective in charge of the claim has him seeing red. He paced the length of his bedroom to avoid breaking his only means of communication with her. “Oh, I’m going to kill him. I’m going to kill him the next time I see him! That was on purpose, he chose to take the lead on this because I told him her name. Dickhead is in for a world of pain.” His voice rumbled in anger as he expended the rage through physical activity.
He sat back in his seat when he felt he was calm enough to, and continued to read the rest of what she had to say. She finally got to their last evening together. He made her brownies and she was really touched by it.
<I was purely joking about the brownies, but he actually went through with it! I don’t think I’ve ever dated a guy who made me brownies, and he’s a stranger! It’s insufferable just how perfect he is for dropping such a huge bill on my head!> She punctuated with angry stickers. <I didn’t want to eat them, though. I wanted to keep them forever, like a memento since-well, I’m getting a head of myself.> She dove into the details of their diner date. He remembered that night, they talked for hours, but it felt like hardly any time had even gone by. <I hated asking him to pay, but I had to. It was getting to be too much for me and my roomie. He was great about it, a real gentleman. I said to just help with what was left, but he paid me the whole thing! I really had him wrong in my head. We ended up staying out late, talking. I don’t think I’ve ever had such an easy conversation with a guy before. When the diner had to close, he took me home and even waisted until I got through the front door. But now I don’t have any reason to talk to him, and he hasn’t made any effort to reach out to me either. Which loops back to the brownies. I wanted to keep them as a memento because it looks like that chapter is closed. But all of his efforts would’ve gone to waste. They were really good, which sucks. Now he’s even more of a jerk wad because it’s not fair! My roomie has plans to celebrate my freedom, but I’m not so sure. I want to, but it involves the tip from Nightwing and Red Robin. Would that be considered evidence or something I should hand over to the detective at my formal interview?>
The infamous Red Hood sat there, speechless, with his head swimming from his and her emotions. She clearly wanted to keep up their friendship, and he did too, but it was not safe. She was already linked to two of them, which was bad enough. He knew he was the worst of them to ever be associated with, and that made this more irritating for him. He muttered profanities as he slammed his fist on the desk. If only he could untangle himself from all this, everything would be fine.
<Shit, you really were busy. Glad to hear he paid his dues like a man. But if he’s so hot, why not just ask him out yourself?> He suggested. He needed to act like any other citizen. He needed to distance himself from himself in her mind. <Did you really serve Nightwing and Red Robin while they were on a mission? I definitely wouldn’t have thought about giving them coffee in the middle of all that. Though, he sounds like a weirdo saying your name so many times. I doubt he was threatening you, maybe he’s got some weirdo fetish? I’d say keep away from him. As great as he is, a masked guy flipping through the Gotham night in spandex must have some sorta thing.> He insisted. That’s what you get, Dick-wing. He smirked. <The tip is yours to keep, you served them, and they gave you a tip. Unless it had some secret message or some sort of flash drive, cash isn’t going to be a dig deal. Plus, they didn’t ask you about the tip though they saw it on camera, you’re good. It’s yours, use it.>
<Yeah, she said the same thing. Said it was a gift from the heavens and I shouldn’t be so paranoid. Also, no way in hell am I asking him out! He’ll think I’m some gold digging hussy! The guy paid for dinner and the hotel bill, I think I’m the last person he wants to see again!>
<Listen to me, I’m a guy, trust me. If he thought you were a gold digger, he would’ve ended shit right away or left you at the diner. The guy made you brownies! I think you can give him some slack and think that maybe, just maybe, he likes your company too?>
<If he liked it so much, why hasn’t he texted me?>
<Because he’s a bigger dumbass and overthinks like you? Thinks you hate him or that you don’t want anything to do with him because he landed you in shit?> He countered. <You don’t have to do anything, I’m just saying thinking about it. Whatever you choose, just don’t abandon me again! Solo raiding was horrible!> He added a few tearful stickers to gain sympathy.
<You think? Alright, alright, I get it! Sheesh, I just told you, I didn’t vanish on purpose! I promise, I’ll keep in touch as best I can! I don’t have to OT anymore, so that’s promising. Thanks for listening. Now, let’s go kick some monster tail!>
<LOL, anytime! I thought you’d never ask!>

I'm sorry to be a bother, but how do you do it here to let other people know you? I'm new to this
Not a bother!
I assume this is a question about building connections with other users of like minds/interests here on tumblr. (Please correct me if I'm wrong!) Here are some of the strategies most long-time users might recommend.
1. Follow people and like/reblog their posts
Seek out other people that make posts or reblog about the stuff you're interested in. That may be specific fandoms, ships, characters, shit posts that appeal to your sense of humor. Be as selective or as nonselective as you're comfortable with. People may or may not follow you back. Try not to take that personally as other people are operating in their own personal comfort scale. Some people will give a follow to everyone that follows them, some will not.
Doing this will give you stuff you like looking at for your dash.
Liking stuff is great! Reblogging stuff is even better! Not only because it's supporting the original poster, but it also puts stuff on your blog! It gives other people a way to gauge if they share interests with you. People are more likely to follow non-empty blogs because tumblr has a long history of problems with bots.
TLDR Don't be afraid to fill your blog with the stuff you like. Make your blog your own. That will help other people find you in return.
2. If you make stuff, tag often and consistently so your posts are discoverable.
Even if you don't make original posts, tagging your reblogs consistently doesn't hurt. It does take time and if it becomes a barrier to you reblogging stuff, forget it and just reblog instead.
But if you make your own stuff, whether drawings or writings or memes, try to tag them with the relevant tags. Doing that will make them appear on the tag page (https://www.tumblr.com/tagged/puppyshipping?sort=recent). People who follow the tag will see the post in their "Your Tags" tab (https://www.tumblr.com/dashboard/hubs). I do it the old-school way where I browse the tag page directly and that's how I find art or other posts I'm interested in without necessarily following everyone.
You do this enough and the people that use those features will start to recognize your screenname too!
3. Advanced direct interactions
You've already done one method by sending this ask! Since tumblr allows individuals to turn off asks on their blogs, it's generally safe to assume that if asks are available, the person welcomes them!
Other ways include leaving comments in the form of tags when you reblog posts, comments in the replies, or reblogged directly as part of the chain. All of these appear as notifications in the person's "Activity" tab, so they might reply when they have a moment.
Similarly, there are direct messages. Similar to asks, users can choose to turn these off.
This is probably the way you'll get to know others better and figure out if you vibe with them. But be as proactive as you're comfortable being!
---
None of this is likely to happen overnight though. At least not for most people, I've been on tumblr on and off since 2011 and spent most of the early years regularly interacting with maybe a handful of people. I'm not on a lot of other social media but I get the impression that tumblr is slower. It doesn't have a robust algorithm to put you in front of other people with similar tastes or even recommend other blogs for you to follow. It's similar to making friends offline. It'll take time to figure out who you gel with. Good luck finding your community!
#replies#sourmilkboy#i'm gonna feel like such an idiot if i misunderstood this ask completely#also was this too condescending?#i'm not trying to be#but i appear to have written a tumblr primer of sorts#anywho running away and hiding in embarrassment now!

I am new and need help
Hello! This is my first time having an actual social media account, and my first time consuming/creating social media as an actual account-having user. I have never posted anything, on any account, before, and have consumed social media on a limited basis. Before this, I only had Pinterest (which I don’t count as a social media because it’s difficult to do anything social on it; you just sort photos into categories. It took me years to realize that you could even follow people, let alone check comments) and YouTube (which is a social media, but in a very different sense than most social media). In general, I’ve only really interacted with whatever social media would let me view enough of its content without an account/app that it wouldn’t be annoying, and also wasn’t entirely dominated by short-form content; this meant I was mostly on Reddit before I decided I wanted an actual account somewhere. I like the tumblr interface the best (and the ability to make a blog/write essays for fun, as well as the apparent culture around appreciating art), so I chose tumblr.
I’ve consumed a lot of tumblr posts via Pinterest screenshots/reddit screenshots, so I’m not totally unfamiliar with some terminology/culture/the way grammar works here (internet grammar is crazy interesting in general, and the language developed here is particularly interesting!); I’ve also looked at individual blogs and submitted asks without an account, as some peeps listed their tumblrs in their ao3s.
With all this in mind, I have some questions! I doubt these will be my only questions, but I do want to ask:
1.) Pinterest and Reddit obviously only shows “best of” screenshots— what is something I should know (cultural) about this site that doesn’t show up in screenshots?
2.) What is the difference between reblogging and reposting? How can I do one but not the other? Why is one (reblogging) often okay, but not the other (reposting)?
3.) Am I culturally (tumblr-wise) obligated to reblog social issues/current events? I very much do care about all of it, but that’s precisely why I’m on social media: to take a breather from it. I really am here just to talk about cool fanfics I like, share and look at cool art, and hopefully post some of my own art/fic someday.
4.) Posts spread in a linked-list fashion, right? So only stuff I have the pointers for (tags/following people) will point me toward to certain posts, and will thus exclude me from the rest of tumblr, right? As in, the only way to see all of tumblr is to follow every tag? (To be clear, I very much DON’T want to do this— I’m just curious)
5.) What is the “dash?” People keep talking about curating their dashes, but I don’t know whether that means their blogs or the tab showing posts by the people they follow.
6.) I’m currently only liking things I really like to organize them, but everyone says I should reblog. This is understandable, given the linked-list (as I currently understand it) nature of the platform, but what should I do if I don’t want my blogs to become endless spam of stuff I thought was cool? I have made two blogs, and I’d like at least one of them to have stuff I’ve curated/eventually stuff I’ve created, or to follow a specific theme, with the occasional exception, and I’m afraid if I put all the stuff I like into it, it will both A.) spam other people, and B.) make it hard for people to find stuff I really want them to see if they drop by, like my own art or my own posts. But I also want to share in the social etiquette of this site (spreading cool stuff I like so other can see it!). Should have a “cool things I like” spam blog? Or is there another option I’m missing?
7.) I’ve saved (liked) a few posts so far, and something that comes up often (probably based on the blogs I follow?) are posts with image descriptions. I really like the concept of image descriptions— I’m not even disabled by sight, but they’ve been helpful in identifying people/places/things in cool art that I otherwise don’t know the names of. I also know a lot of disabled people in real life who have their access limited due to poor infrastructure (whether it be societal or physical), and i know what it’s like to be left our of things, so this seems like a nice thing to do for people when I have the energy. Is there a way to check if an image has already been described before you reblog it with a description? Is there a guidebook?
8.) Where in the world are other peoples’ reblogs? If I click on the reblog button, it only shows an option for me to reblog. Can you only see reblogs by following other people’s blogs?
9.) Is it impossible to delete a post once other people have reblogged it?
10.) Is there a way to get around AI with art stuff if you can’t afford a program to obscufate it? If I ever get the nerves to post my stuff here, I don’t want it to be used in AI training without my explicit consent.
11.) is there a size/length limit for videos/photos/word counts for text posts?
12.) Can you disable/limit dms/message ability of people you don’t know, or at least don’t follow you? Also, what’s the culture surrounding them? It seems terribly personal to message someone one-on-one, but the button is listed on a lot of people’s pages— not even hidden in a sub-menu. On Reddit, people seemed to weaponize this feature a lot, and I’m thus wary of it by nature.
13.) what is a “note?” I thought notes were comments, but I think I’m wrong.
(FYI, I’m using the website on mobile, and don’t want to get the app)
If there’s any helpful “new user guides” (other than the one I’ve already reblogged), please let me know! With that said, thanks to anyone who is willing to explain!

I'm going to a big botanical garden in a few days, and I need help picking a Nendoroid to take photos with all the flowers. I've already taken some of my favorite Nendoroids to a lot of outings already, and I don't want to overuse those, which is making me indecisive. So I need help deciding which other Nendoroids would be a good pick.
Below is a link to a list of my Nendoroids. It's not complete and some are still boxed, so that may take them out of the running if I lose time. But it's most of my collection: https://myfigurecollection.net/?mode=view&username=mysticdragon3&tab=collection&status=2¤t=keywords&keywords=nendoroid&rootId=-1&categoryId=-1&output=2&sort=category&order=asc&_tb=user&page=1
Please mention in Replies or Reblog Tags/Comments anything not on this poll or specifics to clarify the poll option chosen.
Thanks in advance for helping me with my indecision.

omg all those different volunteering things sound so fun, i've also volunteered for packing donations to displaced people in ukraine and low income/homeless people in my area, but i also wanna try and volunteer for loads more stuff!
as for the inaturalist thing, ill put some screenshots below the cut of what it looks like for me/how it works to hopefully help! (if youve got a different device/layout im not too sure how to help there, but google/youtube are always me goto for any sort of tech thing i cant figure out, and im down to help more in dms/more reblogs if needed; this goes to anyone!)
all usernames will be cropped/colored over for privacy, and red circles will indicate what i will be going over
so when you open the app (at least on iphone) you should first see this screen. if you've not used it before, you'll have to make an account, and itll show you have no observations.

the most important parts here are gonna be explore, activity, and observe.
explore lets you see what has been observed around you, including your own observations. it will pull up a map with green (plants), red (insects), blue (animals), and red-pink (fungi) pin icons, depending on what is found in your area.
when you look at an observation, this is what will come up

(the map is cropped out but would show here)

this will show any pictures, the location, and information about the id/data quality. if you want to suggest or agree with an id, click the message bubble icon
this will show every suggested id made by other users, including the observer. you'll want to scroll to the bottom of these to suggest your own id (unless you agree with an already stated one, in which case you can type that id out, or there should be an 'agree' button on each suggested id)

as you can see, i already agreed with an id, but if i wanted to add a different one, i'd click suggest id
this will pull up the picture, ids suggested by the app, and a place to type other species

once selected, that species will be suggested and others can agree with it or suggest other species!
moving on to the activity tab, here you can see what people have suggested on your own observations (which we will get to making in a moment)

clicking any of these will bring you to the observation about it, where you can agree with the other person's id
now onto my favorite part, making observations! when you click on the observation button, these four options will pull up

i'm going to be using the no media one for this example. choosing that will go to this screen

here you can add photos from your camera roll, add a species id, type comments about your observation, select different times and locations, and a few more options that aren't as frequently used (at least for me personally) after clicking share, your observation will be made, and if public (decided by geoprivacy) others will be able to comment and suggest ids for it!
that should be the basics, but if anyone has any more questions, or i forgot to mention anything, don't hesitate to ask or let me know :D
two things :D
i volunteered with a hawk-related organization this last summer (and will be again this summer) and we got to document baby kestrels go from eggs to fully fledged, and it was so cool seeing that regardless of the growing population in my area, these birds are still doing okay! (and are helping with documenting harmful pesticides)
ive finally started using inaturalist again after having a big spell of doing it during covid and lockdown and not touching it since, and its so cool to see not only the wide variety of critters that are around, but also seeing that theres people around me who i dont know, but who also enjoy and have passions for these things as well! (my favorite has been that i saw a raccoon recently chilling on a roadside drain and reported on it, and noticed that 2 years ago, on the exact same street, someone else had reported a raccoon Also just hanging out on a drain. isnt that so cool? i think thats so cool)
anyways, as a secret third thing i wanna mention your blog too, because not only has it really given me hope when ive felt rather doomed, but its also helped me with getting articles to report on for one of my environmental science classes :D
!!!! Excellent! Honestly I need to get into iNaturalist, I have it on my phone and everything but I'm having a bit of trouble figuring it out so I've never really used it - I should fix that!!
One of my own goals/resolutions for 2024 is to get back to volunteering. I was volunteering at a smattering of food-related and native plant-related organizations, going to pro-palestine protests, and doing a regular invasive species cleanup at the local wildlife reserve, but I kind of dropped everything after a really scary family medical issue. (Fuck 2024!!!!!!) Hopefully will get back to the wildlife preserve in the next week or two, though!!
#wow i cant believe that took me an hour 💀#also i hope the family medical issue got resolved/improved 🫂#ive had a range of medical stuff come up with family these last few years and they really are the worst#and no worries you dont sound like youre bragging at all! i think its so cool to hear about what others are volunteering for#and also doing in general :D

New and Genuine Tumblr Update Proposals
Bring back the corner flap that opens the post's permalink in a new window
Add a badge that changes color depending on how many bots you've blocked. Blogs with a higher "tier" of badge get priority on whether their reporting is taken seriously, to reduce spam
Add a badge to new accounts that disappears after a month, both to combat bots and to allow users to more easily identify people that don't know how to use the site yet
Bring the green mutuals mark (visible on the followers page on the current version) to the dashboard beside a person's username, for easy reference if you're mutuals with someone you're about to reply to
Make desktop dashboard configuration HTML-configurable, in the same way blogs are (Ao3 skins are a good reference for how this would work)
Make the mobile dashboard color-customizable in the settings, allowing the user to pick the color of the background and text with a color wheel
Accessibility toggle: Takes ALT descriptions and makes them appear as text below the images they're attached to
Change the notes configuration from "comments and tags, tags," and "other reblogs" to a dropdown list of toggles: "show comments," "show tags," and "show other reblogs"
Add a "replied from [username]" message beside replies in notes, to be able to determine who a reply is aimed towards. Extending from this, make this message a link to the post in the reblog chain the reply was made from
Add a "show reblogs only from [username]" box to the notes, with the [username] portion a blank space to be filled in by the person looking
Add an option to the search function to exclude tags
Add an option to the dropdown search menu to sort by most additions
Add an option to the dropdown search menu, specifically for the type of posts, to filter by asks
Add an option to the search menu to "search text only" or "search tags only" to improve search functionality. For example, if I'm searching for "witcher," I have the option to choose to see things tagged only as "witcher," rather than getting every post that says something like "I'm done with the Witcher, now moving on to Skyrim"
Add an option to the report menu for "suspected bot activity"
Add an asker-side toggle for an ask to be replied to privately. Currently, this is on the side of the person asked, and the asker has to request "please reply privately" and hope it's respected
Inform a user who asked anonymously if their anonymous question has been answered
Add a "screenshot post" button that makes a copy of the post in png form and adds it to your clipboard
Divide tags into "indexed" and "non-indexed," configurable by a symbol. For example, #i am up too late would not be indexed and therefore hidden from searches, while #real coffee hours* would be indexed and able to be searched
Add the ability to include multiple tags for search in the archive page of a blog
Add the ability to exclude tags from the archive page of a blog
Change the sideblog list in the "account" menu on desktop to a list of icons along the left side of the dashboard, each one being that sideblog's profile picture, and toggle between dashboards when each sideblog is clicked
Change "post now" at the bottom of a post to "post to [username]," to help with accidental posts to the wrong sideblog. This can be a movement of the dropdown menu from the top of the post to the bottom
Add a toggle to the settings menu for "loop video after completion." The current default is to loop endlessly
With each algorithm tab, include an information button (a question mark, for example) that explains in plain terms where it gets its data. For example "based on your likes" would say "these posts were liked by 10 people you have also liked the posts of," or "in your orbit" would say "these are people that 10 of your mutuals follow"
Add a sorting function to both the "followers" and "following" tabs, for example: "sort by A-Z," "sort by order followed (descending/ascending)," and "sort by date last posted"
Add an option to "block this post" in the meatballs menu of a post, removing the post and subsequent reblogs from your dash and adding them to a blacklist that can be found in settings
Add a search box to both the drafts and queue page, allowing users with several posts in both of these to find and edit posts more easily
These are just off the top of my head. I've purposely stayed away from "remove function that everyone hates" in terms of updates, as I'm aware that some of those have certain criteria and/or are out of Tumblr coding staff's control. The single exception to this is the first point about the corner flap, because I believe its inclusion adds functionality and ease-of-access to the site.
If any of these look good, go ahead and code them in. No permission/credit required, I'm just invested in the future of the site.
@staff
#wishlist#honestly i really do want this site to function better and these are some things either i wish i had or i've seen other people wish for#long post#real coffee hours

I have a question about reblogging fics that I would love your opinion on as a writer… I admittedly rarely reblog fics, artwork or photos from the TGM fandom because it’s a side interest for me, and really doesn’t match the content on my blog. I hear you and many other fandom creators on this site talk about the importance of reblogging original content and I want to help by changing my behaviour. I’ve thought about creating a new blog to specifically support the TGM creators I love by reblogging their content, but worry that that isn’t a very helpful solution because the reblogs would probably go to a “dead end” and not be further shared past my blog. Does that seem like a reasonable solution to you, or is there a more helpful way I can take action? Thanks in advance for your guidance - I love your Mickey pieces and would hate to see you stop sharing your writing due to a perceived lack of interest!!
Hi, my darling! Thank you for this question, and for taking the time to write about this! I hope you didn't think I was ignoring you -- I've been thinking about how I want to answer and what I could suggest. I am by no means the premiere authority on this sort of thing, so I welcome my other writer friends to chime in. But here I go --
Firstly, thank you so much for your love of my content and wanting to help promote it/other writer's works. I also appreciate you being willing to step out of your comfort zone in order to benefit writers and creators on Tumblr. That's so kind and so important.
To some extent, I understand being known for certain content on your blog, and not wanting to disrupt your own content for your followers. I know some blogs are really fandom and aesthetically oriented. So I get that.
That said, one big point of reblogging is getting the material in front of new eyes, so if your OG blog has the numbers to help writers get seen, I can't express enough what that would mean to me, and to other writers to be shared to that forum.
It's no secret that one frustration I have with my own writing is that it never seems to "break through." I am fortunate to receive the positive feedback that I do, and one of the things I regularly hear is "this is so well-written!" And "why doesn't this have more notes?" I wish I knew -- the answer is that it could, if things didn't sit in the likes tab. And it sort of breaks my heart to read what is intended as a compliment that serves to remind me that my content is only reaching the eyes of whomever happens to be browsing the tag that day and few others.
That said, to your suggestion about creating a side blog/library blog and the concern that it would be a "dead end," you're right in that reblogging content into a dead blog or one that doesn't have many followers does not remediate the issue. So, my counter-question to you is -- are you willing to disrupt the flow/aesthetic of your main to either share fics, or to promote your side blog and encourage your followers to check it out/follow the writers you share to there? The latter may be more effort than you're willing to put in to the endeavor (and I certainly would never ask or expect anyone to bend over backward). And the former may not be what you're willing to do for the sake of what you're already sharing to your blog.
So -- if there's an answer, I'm not sure I have a clear one. I appreciate your willingness to share. And if you one day do, I know it would make that writer's day! It would certainly make mine.
And I'm not trying to guilt anything, but I can't tell you the number of times I've felt that looming cloud of discouragement because I look at the metrics and think, "well, that flopped." Because if people are silently reading and not saying anything, it may not be the case that my fics are flopping in that sense, but if that's true, I have no way of knowing. For me, an ask (I keep anon on for a reason), a comment reblog, tags, a comment, something that lets me know what someone enjoyed about my story?? Makes my entire day! I put so much thought into exactly how I want a sentence to sound. What I want the flow of a story to be. The vibe I want to convey. It's all intentional. And it can be heartbreaking when you feel like it resonated with no one.
If you're still reading this, thank you! Thank you for asking! Thank you for your patience and dedication to reading and hopefully sharing work! You have a few options, and I welcome others' suggestions. All my best to you, my love. And happy reading! I have so many fics planned for the coming months. 💜🌿☀️🌻✨

IT'S TIME FOR NEWS!
because there are news!
i won a thing.
i won a writer-scholarship for my wip The Five Senses and i am still over the moon and sort of helpless with myself. but i actually did it! it was an anonymous contest and the jury decided to award my project this way by only reading the first chapter and the summary. i will get a professional book-person as my mentor who will help me develop this project and ~ teach me the ways ~ to work on my weaknesses while i also get money to have the time to actually write on this. (help i actually need to write this now)
this is, of course, no agency or publishing deal yet, but it's such a big step to me and will look good in a potential query one day (when it's done). and most importantly, it's so much reassurment and motivation to me. someone "official" likes my work. i will need weeks to truly believe it x)
especially, since it's all happening in german and writing in german again after writing so much in english for so long has been... just weird. my german writing always sounds 10 times worse to me x) so yeah! those were big news number 1! and also regarding these news:
taglist news!
i haven't uuuh updated my taglists in a while. and regarding my Big Projects (the five senses, TAP & in the land of twilight), i probably won't post that much more, unless it's news (like the above!!) of a more official kind. that is why i have decided:
no singular taglists anymore, except for A Guide to Liminal Matters and Ghastly Kinds, because that's a uhhh tumblr exclusive x) but for the ones i intend to probably publish one day, there will be only one taglist for official milestones that might be interesting to share. i will tag everyone from every taglist below, and want to kindly ask that you let me know if you want to be on the official stuff taglist, because i will just not use the singular taglists anymore. hope that works for everyone!!
also:
remember my post about wanting to read more writeblr works? yes, me too, and i still have all those tabs from your responses open. i mean it, i looked at all of them and the tabs have been there for the last half year, my computer is slowly dying because of it, so i will get to them quickly. i just didn't want to just reblog the respones but take an actual look and comment something nice, so. i will! it just takes more time than i thought it would.
taglist people below the cut, just reply/ask/dm/reblog if you want to switch over to the official stuff taglist (or be completely newly added to it) ~
@musicofglassandwords @writingwithhotchocolate @cilly-the-writer @voidcathvrsis @arvit @soul-write @uppoffringar @callmeweeeh @commasinsidequotes @4kidsopfan @tamtam-go92 @24hourauthor @aepreall @the-starlight-chills @daydreams-and-musings @fields-of-ink @fourohfourlifenotfound @eluari
#writeblr#writing community#wip; the five senses#rie's official stuff#HELP#i also dunno how to uhh handle my semi-anonymity on here while being pretty much uh not anonymous on instagram i guess one day i will#give up on tumblr anonymity? idk? let's cross that bridge when we get to it#the idea that i should publish something one day and then people will find this tumblr and see my old short stories and stuff kajhkhfkudfh#?????#also posting at 11pm again which is the best time for posts like these obviously#there's of course tons more that i could talk about here but i thought the post was long enough already so i stopped the rambling x)

Oh, I would never try to reply to this thread on my phone. I wait until I'm on pc, I have one tab of the post, and the other tab is the reblog where I write my replied & switch between the tabs as needed. I know better than to try mobile. 😂
Okay if we miss anything at this point it's okay. But, I'm also not letting you off the hook on my request for you to make that edit of the dance scene to This Is What You Came For. Pleeeeeease. 🥺❤️
No doubt Wednesday would take pride in being Tyler's master. She won't admit it at first, but she likes the thought of Tyler being hers. Not for any fucked up torture kind of way just in the fact that her belongs to her & she belongs to him romantic thing. But, she'll lie to herself in the beginning and chalk it up to some kind of revenge thing. She's not going to do too many vengeful actions to back it up, it'll just be her little thing she tells herself to push the narrative to herself that she doesn't want Tyler anymore. Slowly, that will chip away until it all come tumbling down & she admits to herself that that's not the case. Her and Tyler will work on finding away to liberate him & all hydes from the slave & master curse/dynamic.
The group would definitely turn into a pack. And Enid would find some kind of semblance in that. Hopefully her brothers will follow suit & join the pack. No doubt her mother will be just as overbearing even now that she can turn. Enid will make her exit from her family's pack. She'll realize she doesn't deserve her mother's treatment & be fine with being a lonewolf. Slowly the Jericho gang will start to feel like a pack for their own & Enid will realizes she stumbled into what she's always been searching for. Later on, her dad and brothers will contact Enid again, and tell her the family fell apart without her because they all defended her while she was gone. Turns out the all walked out on the mom after she left & they all get in contact with her. I don't know if they'll be regulars or recurring characters.
Gomez & Pugsley would be so proud that Tyler pulled one over on Wednesday. Gomez will say something like he knew he'd be a good one for his little Viper from the very beginning. And the whole family will think of what he did as some kind of love proclamation. Donovan would probably feel the need to apologize to Gomez after it's all said and done. While Gomez having no idea what he's talking about because he had taken all Donovan's comments towards Wednesday as a compliment towards his daughter's mischievous behavior.
Seriously, I never in thought about Joel join the show until you brought it to my attention. Now, I'm actually kind of curious if they did what role he would play. Just not the stalker though.
Of course Donovan isn't going to turn his son in. That wasn't even a question in my mind. It wasn't even in the realm of possiblities for me. 😆
I'd love to see some kind of scene of Fran & Tyler roaming together after their newfound freedom. Hugging each other in their hyde forms, then a scene transition to them still hugging in human form then Donovan comes in and joins the hug & they continue whatever they were doing in that scene.
Oh, yes! Fran Helping Tyler get through his difficulties of not being in control without a master somehow. Maybe, they both feel some sort of hyde connection throughout the season because of it. I don't know. Then, it all ends with her being able to witness the two people she loves the most rip her captor & his lil spawn minion apart. It's what she deserves. 🥲
Exactly, Enid & Wednesday gives off the vibes that they wouldn't have gone up & introduced themselves to each other had it not been for their forced proximity to one another. Like, some siblings are. I mean like sure they get along now, but they wouldn't have even thought to talk to each other had they not been living under the same roof. "And they were roommate." Literally, they're just that. And that's fine! There's nothing wrong with that.
I don't hear much from waviers, but when I do it's a headscratcher. I'm like, I guess you could read the scene that way if you want. But they've got to drop the whole she blinks around him thing. That's all I can say about them.
We need to delve into the world of the gorgons more. Their species are mostly reserved do to the fact that they don't want to accidentally stone someone. That's actually very considerate of them. I think they're pretty cool people in general. I just want to know more about them. Ajax seems like a total sweetheart. You could tell he liked Enid too he was more just doing as he was told by not interacting with her, so she wouldn't get hurt. 😍🥰 The siren world can be pretty cool. Bianca's mom better be a huge part of that plot. Then we'll get to see how Bianca, Divina, Count & the rest of them are facing a whole cult of siren's & their mind-controlled minions. I wonder what the show's take on vampires will be. And we need more Eugene. Don't forget Morticia is a psychic too. She's a dove I think is what she mentioned and Wednesday is a That's So Raven. She sees the trouble from the distance, but it's not that easy. She tries to see the situation, then she ends up misbehaving! Lmao! 🤣Okay, I'm done clowning around now. We got so much to explore in this series it's hard to keep up. Yes, let's get Lucas & Tyler to reconnect. They can bond now that they've both ditched that outcast hating friend group! The pack is coming together nicely. I'd love to see the rekindle their friendship. I wonder how that will play out. I forget what the faceless people are. I don't know. That's a whole other thing.
Don't even worry about that. If you want to see it that way that's all that matters. We're all different people we don't have to agree on everything.
That's where the problem starts. Once you start attacking people for headcanons you need to stop. And the whole thinking you're better than someone else for liking something, or seeing things one way is dumb. People get into whole arguments about this shit. It's not that serious. I've seen time and time again someone using the term, "braindead," as a way to insult/shame someone for interrupting a scene, or just plan disagreeing with them. First of all, if you gauging shipping on someone's intelligence level you've already gone too far. If you want to get deeper into & say what kind of intelligence we're measuring. Okay, so the person calling someone braindead for judging a complete stranger's intelligence based on shipping alone, and they trying to insulting them & belittle the other person for interpreting a scene "wrong" is not someone I would call emotionally intelligent in the slightest. I would say that person as the emotional intelligence of a toddler with only slightly better vocabulary. So, we've ruled out emotion intelligence at least. I'm not sure it's worth trying to go into the rest their emotions will have them dismiss any it away.
Yeah, fandom has gotten way out of control. It's time for celebrities to speak up about toxic fandom behavior. And people in the fandom who disagree to start pushing back more. This is supposed be a fun escape from reality. We're all supposed to be have a good time. But some people need to get over themselves first for that to happen.
It's fine. Both of us missed a few things here and there. This thread was so bad. I didn't need to flip through tabs so much. Most of the time I was just scrolling up.
Can we talk about how Wednesday was in the most none triangle love triangle ever? Like, Wednesday and Tyler were doing their own thing meanwhile Xavier was just kind of there. Now if Wednesday liked Xavier too that would be a proper triangle, but that’s not what played out. She was always upfront with him that she was there for Tyler. He was just guy on the side who had a thing for a girl who’s into someone else. It was never a triangle. It almost confuses why anyone calls it a triangle at all.
