Dr. Richter! Here: a gift for you...
I read online the other day that the aster is the birth flower for the month of September. To be honest, I wasn’t even aware that months had birth flowers. And there are so many species and varieties of asters, too...I’m still not sure if they meant any specific type or not. Ah-hah...My head started spinning looking all of them up…
Oh! But after our last meeting, I did recognize this aster I always pass by on my way back home. It’s from the Callistephus family of asters. I’ve noticed they don’t bloom for very long, but they always bloom at the end of summer when most of the other summer flowers are fading. I think knowing that made them even more beautiful to me…
And then I remembered you mentioned flower language when we met up at the bookstore. So, I did some research on asters: the name comes from the Greek word for “star. And in flower language, asters symbolize wisdom, patience, and elegance — I thought that really suited you!
But…
Asters can also mean “afterthought,” or the wish that things happened differently. And that made me think about how...you always ask me if I’d do something differently if I had the chance. Or if I regret any of the choices I’ve made so far.
…what about you? Is there anything you…?
I-I’m sorry… I know you really like roses, so maybe something related to them would have been a more appropriate gift. I just really thought this aster was so beautiful and…
Huh?
You…already have your rose? What do you mean?
…Dr. Richter?
Well, if you say so... If you’re saying that you’ll this cherish aster like any other rose, then I have no regrets at all!
Happy birthday — Vyn!
