The Mystery Flesh Pit National Park was created by Trevor Roberts here on tumblr as a world building project.

In the 1870s Jimmy Jackson discovers a super organism in the Permian Basin, while searching for Oil. It becomes a tourist attraction until the creation of national forest where it is taken as a national park.

It is taken over in part by a mining company called Anodyne. Anodyne places splints inside the opening of the creature creating a series of tunnels, that visitors can hike through.

They also have a lot of things you can do outside the pit, like go to Chili's or Hard Rock Cafe.

know obviously, walking into a flesh pit may have some unforeseen (not really unforeseen) consequences,

For example, In 2007 the park closed down due to the organism essentially sneezing. All of the splits broke trapping people inside. they were digested by the orgasm, any rescue team that manged to save people would have the people rescued attempted to go back into the organism. The organism released a gas that caused people in nearby areas to develop a tone of health issues.

Around 750+ deaths, and 1,800 major injuries.

It was discovered that Anodyne failed to do a lot of the safety protocol , and the company was turned into a flesh pit prevention organization.
