My Commentary: This A.M.V. showcases mostly Koushiro's Adoptee storyline, while also including brief scenes from 2020 eps that focused on Koushiro's inclusion or highlights. (There are a few tiny semi-spoilery segments from final battle of Digimon 2020 Episodes 66~67, but mainly show Koushiro.) There are no Tri, Kizuna, or The Beginning spoilers here. I made in just under 2 hours, or, about an hour and 50 minutes total of editing, plus saving and review checks; as I aimed to finish just in time for: "Kou&Ten Day" a.k.a a "Koushiro & Tentomon Day" {Focus} (5/10, May 10) in the J.P.N fan base, the name comes from the "Kou" of Koushiro's J.P.N name, {Kou = Go = "Five" (5)} as pronounced in J.P.N + "Ten", a nickname for "Tentomon" partially given by Mrs. Izumi during "02" ("Tento-san") Koushiro fans often share Koushiro works on this day, including platonic works.

(Episode start): {Tentomon}: Koushiro-han! Let’s take a little break! {Koushiro, only briefly pauses, with a notably perturbed look}: I want to meet Gennai-san as soon as possible! {Tentomon, insistent}: But even so, it’s already been two months! {Koushiro, surprisingly direct, and yet still using typical speech*}: (*Koushiro in the J.P.N version commonly uses a more polite J.P.N speech form than characters like Yamato, or even Taichi, which is quite notable with Koushiro.)

“It doesn’t matter HOW LONG it takes!!” {Tentomon, immediately in response}: (*sighing*)/(*sweatdrop*) {Koushiro, matter-of-factly/calmly}: I’m going ahead. {Tentomon, quickly}: A-aa, Koushiro-han, wait for me!...

(They walk together as the calm OST {music} track playing fades.)

My commentary: Episode 24, Koushiro’s focus episode where Koushiro will later obtain the Crest of Knowledge, opens on this scene, and in the original version, right away, you begin to get a feel of the character progress he will eventually have- For a start, Koushiro actually insists a little at Tentomon. The Adventure novel (also penned by a head/“main” director + writer, Hiroyuki Kakudou) indicates in a later Dark Masters “Arc” scene that Koushiro “never” raised Koushiro’s voice towards a “senpai”/“upperclassman” - especially NOT Taichi, as the scene stating that line involved Taichi - and even these lines Koushiro states using overall “polite” form J.P.N speech, but Koushiro DOES insist a little, and it’s very obvious from the look on Koushiro’s face that Koushiro Means Business, OK, Don’t Argue With Me On This! Tentomon responds by immediately sighing, and another common pattern of this episode are the close-ups of Tentomon’s reactions to basically everything Koushiro is saying.

Tentomon clearly notes that it’s been “TWO MONTHS” in the Digital World since Taichi vanished. The novel is a bit more vague there, but it’s also a direct timeline clue - keeping in mind the time difference between the worlds. However, it also hadn’t been longer than two months since Koushiro split from the group of other Chosen, who Koushiro left behind in the search. Koushiro’s plan is apparently to FIND “Gennai” - It seems Koushiro believes Gennai can help with the search.

The novel does go a little more in depth in various places there... Taichi isn’t directly mentioned, {though still goes missing} but Koushiro, DOES feel a “pull” by the Crest of Knowledge - not knowing it’s the Crest. Vademon will then proceed to immediately trick Koushiro & Tentomon by scamming Koushiro out of Koushiro’s often-referred to as “Inquisitive Heart”, convincing Koushiro that what Koushiro “needs” is ““Knowledge””.

But the fake, anti-intellectualist “Knowledge” Vademon talks about is not necessarily the kind of actual “Knowledge” Koushiro NEEDS...

Tentomon clearly recognizes at least a little of this, and with the ‘expressions’ (sudden shocked or panicky movements) Tentomon ‘gives’, often reacts in turn.

Taishirokoura x possibilities - "What if" pt. 1

I drive across bridges So worried about falling That I missed the view Already watching the news reports saying: "There was nothing anyone could do" In my mind, what if I fall? What if it's in my mind...

Pt 1. Koushiro

“Supposedly it’s called polyamory.”

Yamato nodded in response while looking up from the book he was reading. He placed it on the coffee table in front of him, interest piqued.

“Okay, it has a name, so it’s not uncommon.”

Koushiro was seated behind his desk, his face illuminated by the three computer screens in front of him. He raised an eyebrow to Yamato’s reply and looked between the small gap between two of his screens to find Yamato, his brain already trying to put the informative pieces together like it always did.

“I don’t consider it uncommon. Only four to five percent of population is said to presumably be polyamorous. I would say that’s still rather unusual. Besides,” he said and stared past Yamato, “these relationships have a higher rate to fail if not approached correctly.”

“There’s no rulebook for any type of relationship.” 

Yamato was right, Koushiro thought to himself. Yet the evidence he had found showed differently. Because with such a complicated form of a relationship, some variety of rules would make it easier to understand and execute. Especially to him.

Having a deep understanding of any kind of concept soothed his always racing mind, always seeking for knowledge to hoard. By finding the patterns –knitting together what happened, was happening and could happen— he could go distances inside of his head. He could cross bridges others could only dream of.

And if he were to cross a bridge, he would do so with great carefulness.

“One would think that,” Koushiro started, “but according to the multiple sources I could find, these relationships work best when following certain principles.”

“Which are…?”

Koushiro stood up from his seat, his feet bringing him to the couch in his office where Yamato was seated. On his way he recited the information he had gathered before.

“For starters, to recognize and acknowledge everyone’s feelings, values and thoughts in the relationship. Second is there should be open communication about these three important things. The communication should be held without any form of judgement.”

“Sounds to me like you figured it all out,” Yamato laughed. “Like you always do.”

The tone in Yamato’s voice sounded sharp to him and Koushiro wasn’t sure if it was an accusation or not. By now he was accustomed with the way Yamato could say things and usually he was able to don’t let it get to him. This time, however, he felt that Yamato’s words hit something he couldn’t quite put his finger on yet.

“Well, yes,” was all Koushiro could say back. He let himself fall into the cushions of the couch opposite from Yamato, his dark eyes finding Yamato’s bright blues.

“Don’t get me wrong, I fully understand as curiosity comes natural to you. In fact, I wouldn’t be any different, searching for answers before acting, however,” he shortly paused, “in this case in particularly…”

A longer pause. Yamato was clearly thinking, making Koushiro feel a little uneasy. He swallowed, nervously waiting for Yamato to continue.

“I wonder whether it’s worry over curiosity.”

“Worry…” He repeated quietly.

“Yes. Look,” Yamato said with a serious look in his eyes as he slowly leaned forward. “You like them, right?”

Heat crept up Koushiro’s face as Yamato waited for Koushiro to repsond, the table separating the two of them not feeling like enough space. Yamato had his ways, like a detective peeling of layer by layer, coming close and it made Koushiro feel tensed.

He thought deeply. Yes, he did like them, but did he really like them like that? The both of them had always been right beside him, in all kinds of manners, at various moments in his life. Confessing any kind of feelings, expressing his thoughts and values, had never been easy.

This was one step too far.

He wouldn’t risk it. ‘Cause if he did, all he could do was fall.

 “O-Obviously, they’re my friends—”

“But did you ever really look to your left and right and see the possibilities instead of worrying about all the things that could go wrong?”

Iori and Koushiro

Send me two names among the following 12 and I’ll write a short analysis post about them:

Whether canon provides input on them or not:

As much as Iori often gets the short end of the stick in terms of screentime and character development, this one gets a clear yes. Koushirou and Iori are obviously set up to be paralleled with each other - not only is Iori the heir of the Crest of Knowledge and also the shortest in his group, but both of them deal with their own inner turmoils regarding their family backgrounds, which clearly define their personal value systems and development. I have already outlined how they’re portrayed as parallels here, talking about how they’re both highly curious and very polite, what their roles in their respective Chosen Children groups are, who their foils and most important interactions are, etc. 

The essence of their general relationship with each other is already displayed perfectly in the screenshot above though: 02!Koushirou has grown into a mentor figure who enjoys to be an aid for the new Chosen Children and once he realizes how similar Iori is to him, he basically immediately takes him under his wing, telling him that he could always come to him for advice and to ask for help. That is actually a huge deal considering how much he struggled with his own people skills in 01 - and the fondness with which he looks at Iori here definitely displays a sense of care and curiosity very early on already. Iori takes the offer very gladly - and even though they don’t have that many scenes throughout 02 that show just the two of them interacting with each other (Iori is actually seen being more close with Jyou in that regard), they’re seen investigating in the Digital World together, with Koushirou generally being very protective of Iori (which, in my opinion, slightly mirrors the way Taichi was protective of Koushirou himself in 01). 

Whether I think why and how they’d work:

As pointed out in the upper part - and the comic/meta I’ve linked -, there are two particular scenarios about these two I highly enjoy: One of them is just them having that “investigative senpai/kohai (or big brother/little brother)” vibe going on, exploring the whereabouts of the Digital World together while everyone else is shaking their heads about how deeply they’re already lost in their own little world (especially Miyako, who would occasionally join in on the rambles and nerdisms, but can’t always keep up with them). In a very self-indulgent headcanon, I would love these two to spend huge chunks of their free time together with Taichi and Takeru (and Jyou), with Iori trying to take note of how casually Koushirou is interacting with Taichi (whereas he himself is still sometimes struggling to understand Takeru properly, but really wants to). Basically them having a very kind, mutually supportive, brotherly relationship with each other sounds very endearing.

The other scenario is the romantically inclined one - with Iori having an (unrequited) crush on Koushirou, because he just admires and adores him not only for being his knowledgable mentor, but also for his general attitude, displaying confidence, a hands-on-mentality and courage to make his opinion heard when it matters, inspiring him to do the same. Koushirou, on the other hand, may not be able to pick up on his crush and is just generally very excited to be able to teach him things and encourage him - since Iori would be one of the few to happily listen to his rambles without losing interest at some point (the others don’t do it on purpose, but at some point, they simply can’t follow him when he’s in absolute rant mode, as mentioned above with Miyako).

Maybe in some kind of future scenario, with both of them being adults (since there’s still a four year age gap between them), Iori might be able to confront and confess his feelings to Koushirou. However, I’m not sure if they could actually let completely loose towards each other, as they’ve been just very similar and might not be able to give each other the emotional attention they’d need. (Admittedly, it could be an intriguing concept to have Koushirou notice that the boy, who was always by his side looking up to him, turned into quite the capable man himself who’d also probably be taller than himself, haha, and with Iori embracing his own sense of kindness, forgiveness and openness, their changing bond could be an interesting thing to look out for.)

Whether I’d prefer them as platonic or romantic ship:

Since I have a vague idea who has sent me this ask (hehe), I know that they enjoy these two as a romantic ship and I may or may not have drawn them like that before - but as outlined above, I feel like they work better as brotherly combination (or with the one-sided crush scenario), as Koushirou is basically the mom big brother to all the 02 kids anyway. So he’d happily take his little brother on an adventure, together with Taichi, Takeru and Jyou, watching him grow and develop into a fine young man, with all the pride and affection he can gather. (We might need to see how the 02 movie plays Iori’s 19-year-old self to tell how compatible they could be at this point in time).

It’s short and perhaps rusty, but I’m still happy I was able to write something. Hope you enkoy :)

“What do you mean you didn’t bring a sweater?” Koushiro was still sitting on the bleachers after Taichi’s match had finished. Taichi wasn’t expecting Koushiro to wait for him, as they had already planned to meet up somewhere else for dinner to celebrate their team’s victory.

“It didn’t occur me it would get cold!”

“It’s December,” Koushiro was already one of the smartest in their group, Taichi should have seen a comment like that one coming. “Here, get this.”

Taichi held the sweater the redhead was giving to him, and for a reason he shivered. He had never seen anyone else with Koushiro’s sweater, he held the polyester close to his nose, making sure Koushiro was looking elsewhere. It smelled just like him.

“What about you?”

“I’m prepared,” he took out a fluffy jacket as he placed his laptop inside his backpack. “Ready?”

Taichi knew he was excessively quiet, and that his friend would start wandering, but he could not stop thinking about the dang sweater he was currently wearing. Koushiro wasn’t the kind of guy to share his clothes with others, something about his allergies, or hygiene, or being overly protective with the clothes he owned because he hated getting new ones. It was so soft…

“Here comes our champion!” Sora shouted as they entered the ramen place, their favorite one. It immediately felt warmer, but Taichi still refused to take the sweater off.

“What took you guys so long? I’m starving!!!” There were only two empty seats, one next to Yamato and one next to Mimi. Taichi’s heart skipped a beat as Koushiro sat next to her and noticed how he immediately blushed at some comment he couldn’t listen.

“Isn’t that Koushiro’s sweater?” Yamato was stating the obvious, Taichi rolled his eyes.

“I didn’t bring anything to cover after the match.”

“Stop mocking him, Yamato. It was sweet of Koushiro to lend you his sweater.” Sora gave him a reassuring smile, but Taichi’s sight began spinning.

“He never lends his clothes to anyone, you know.” Takeru would be the one to make yet another comment, considering he was one of the only people to go clothe shopping with the redhead, apart from his mom.

Taichi sighed, as he took a glance to the other side of the table, to find Mimi and Koushiro in their own bubble. He wished he could join it, or better yet, create one for Koushiro and him alone.

“Are you sure you don’t want to take it? It’s even cooler than it was after the match.” Taichi wanted some time to think, by himself, and that sweater, smelling so much like him, would only make his mind wander places he wasn’t ready to go.

“Why don’t you walk home with us? We’re all heading the same direction, anyway.” Mimi was sweet as she always had been, but for a reason, her mere presence caused an uncomfortable pain in the pit of his stomach.

“I promised my mom I would go get milk for Miko, so it’s fine, really.” He should have looked the other way faster, because after just a few steps, Koushiro had given Mimi his sweater, and who was he kidding, it looked better on her than it could ever look on him. Yes, it was a piece of polyester, 90% to be precise, but it was his.

Takeru was wrong, after all, Koushiro seemed keen to lend his sweaters without any problem. A part of him wanted to believe it was because they were important to him, both him and Mimi, but was there a possibility Koushiro could see him they way he saw him? Without noticing, Taichi had arrived at the very same park where Sora, Koushiro and himself used to play soccer when they were just kids. His parents would often mock him about him and Sora, how they would make a cute couple, and they were right for a bit, readheads were his type.

He sighed, as he hugged himself sitting on an empty bench. It was freezing, but he had to give the sweater back, didn’t he? Was he being naïve for believing Koushiro could ever like him like that? He could see the way he looked at Mimi, not on that precise evening only, but before that, way before that. Ever since she got back from New York, actually.

“Perhaps if she had stayed in New York…”

He was being an idiot, it was Mimi who he was thinking about, one of his best friends, one who did not hesitate to travel half the world to attend his birthday party.

He had felt all kinds of pain beforehand, but none of them were like the one he was feeling now. He wondered if one could die of a heartbreak. Perhaps he was jumping to conclusions, and a part of him wondered what would happen if he came clean to him, would they have a shot?

Perhaps he should call Sora, she knew about those things, her crest was the one of love after all. But then again, that would mean admitting he had feelings for their younger friend. He stood up and decided to actually get some milk before heading home or freezing to death in the park.

“Maybe if I was Mimi,” he thought to himself, as he got lost in the street lights.

Summer in Odaiba—a time for traveling, summer camps, and…a massive cyber attack? Taichi Kamiya and his new friend, Koushiro Izumi, are thrust into a network security assault that throws Tokyo into chaos. As Taichi attempts to help his mother and sister, who have boarded an out-of-control train, he and Koushiro not only discover the reason for the attacks, but an ally as well. Thus begins episode one of Digimon Adventure:, a reboot of the classic series of the same name (minus the colon at the end).

I am, or more accurately was, a huge fan of Digimon Adventure. It’s the only anime with which I was deeply involved in the fandom, though as timed passed, so did my interest, to the point that I never even completed the most recent films. Still, I was eager to see how this reboot turned out, and judging by the first episode, it looks to be in good hands—not a surprise with so many key staff returning. Although it starts with word of summer camp, the series immediately moves in a direction different from the original, one more plot-oriented than the kiddier show. And yet, it retains the spirit of 1999 series (21 years ago!), with character designs that very closely resemble the original (from the same character designer), but updated with more fluid animation, and the all-important heart, the most important focus of the original, remaining and particularly expressed through Taichi and his relationship with Agumon. Although he was the lead character in the original, it seems as if the focus for this series may be even heavier upon him. Fully half of the opening features Taichi, though I should also note that Yamato is the focus of the ED (and makes an appearance in episode one).

I hope that the rest of the Digi-Destined get their due, though even if they don’t, I remain hopeful for good things from the series based on the choices already made. I mentioned the animation—the direction is strong, as there seems to be a real lean toward Mamoru Hosoda’s vision as expressed in the first two parts of the Digimon Movie (later more fully realized in Summer Wars). Episode two even emulates the title of Children’s War Game, (minus “Children’s”). I’m down with anything that’s inspired by Hosoda, so you bet I’m aboard for this. I also like the design of this episode’s boss, a digimon out of a computer age Little Shop of Horrors (Feed me, Taichi!). The love for the franchise is expressed deeply through the care taken and creativity of the staff. This adventure looks to be a win.

Digimon Psi Ep 2 Reaction

Here be spoilers below the cut.  Feels like this ep has more spoilable material than the last, lol!!!!

Ep 1 reaction  I will tag all of these ‘digimon reboot reaction’ for ease of searching on my bloggity.

Where do I even...  Yikes.  They, uh, they brought it.  It hath been brought.

First, garbled screaming impressions:

-Yamato still sounds like he’s a grown ass adult at age 11.  Nice XD

-YAMS.  IS SO.  SERIOUS.  I mean clearly he’s always been on the scowly side, but DANG son.  I really wanna pinch his cheeks and be like, who’s a little man, and I would absolutely get shoved.

-I’m wondering if maybe Yamato doesn’t live in Japan at all?  He didn’t seem to know what seems like a fairly important train station.

-TAICHI CALLED KOUSHIRO AWESOME LIKE...  AT LEAST TWICE.  And Koushiro screaming ‘Taichi-san’ at the end!  These two are gonna kill me.  

-AND TAICHI IS LIKE, “HEY KOUSHIRO, I MADE A FRIEND,” and Yamato is like, Jesus it’s been two seconds you absolute extrovert, ugh, I’m in actual pain.  He’s gonna need to brood in the shadows for at least a week after this to counterbalance Taichi’s ‘sunshine-puppy-BFFs-with-everyone’ energy.

-AND YAMATO IS LIKE, “IZUMI!” and Koushiro is like, “Um, he can call me by my first name...”  THAT’S RIGHT, KOUSHIRO IS ACCUSING SOMEONE OF BEING TOO FORMAL.  YAMATO IS SO DAMNED PRICKLY.  It almost feels like the writers are pushing hard to set Taichi and Yamato up as foils?  Like, maybe too hard, too fast???

-BUT MY FAVORITE PART WAS GREYMON BEING LIKE, “SO, YOU SURVIVED” TO GARURUMON, THIS WILL GET ITS OWN SECTION LATER. 

 -Okay for real though that final enemy evolution with ALL OF THE EYEBALLS?  Very gross, well done.

-OMEGAMON?  Are we...  Are we done here?  Should we... go home?  I-  It?  Omegamon?  Ep 2?  *looks at watch* *looks at calendar* ?????????????  I’d argue that Adventure was a slow-paced show, but at this rate, the kids are gonna be 40 by episode 7????  OMEGAMON?!

Okay, I think I’m done screaming (questionable claim), so...  Let me...  Use my brain for thoughts????  Or try to???

The Network

Does anyone know if the network is earth’s internet?  That’s what I assumed at first.  But the intro says the network is the home of Digimon?  So...  Is it the Digital World?  I thought they were three separate places, like in cyber sleuth (earth, earth’s internet (where digimon can be uploaded, since they’re data), and the Digital World, where it’s harder for humans and digimon to meet, compared to the net).

Just hoping for some clarification, and not sure if it’s available yet.  It does seem like Taichi and Yamato aren’t using avatars to interact with digimon on the net; they’re actually uploaded onto it, along with Agumon and Gabumon.

Koushiro is awesome

Okay, so Koushiro is already...  Buddies with people who will...  Hand him...  Detailed classified info.  Friendly reminder that ya boi is 10.  10!!!!!  AN ACTUAL BABY.

God I would love some background on how Koushiro established himself in this position in the Reboot world, but right now, I’d be more than happy to settle for him joining Taichi and Yamato in the net.  My fear is that everyone but Yams and Taichi will be relegated to occasional appearances?  I guess I should be glad Kou was around from ep 1.  

But we’re only 2 eps in, so I will calm the heck down.

My brain immediately goes:  THESE ARE AGUMON AND GABUMON, SOMEHOW.  Like, they dissolved in Kizuna, and their data transferred to the net in another reality, and they’re just seeing one another for the first time after that here.  In that case, of course they can form Omegamon!  It’s old hat!

I’m probably wrong, but can you blame my brain for going here?

I also think it’s possible for their data to be uploaded to the net, and for them to still be physically reformed over in the Adventure timeline at some point between Kizuna and the epilogue.  Why not, at this point?  XD XD XD

WHATEVER THE EXPLANATION, I AM ABSOLUTELY ON TETHER HOOKS WAITING FOR MORE INFO ABOUT WHY AGUMON AND GABUMON KNOW EACH OTHER, AND WHY AGUMON KNOWS TAICHI.

Also, is it me, or does Garurumon seem actually a little... intimidating?  Like, it never occurred to me to think of any of the partner digis as scary in the past, except Skullgreymon, but...  Garurumon is giving off these dope vibes here.  I love him!  I’m wondering if the evolved forms of the partner digis will receive more of a personality in the Reboot.

Omegamon

I feel very...  Stunned.  Yes, stunned.  It’s not a good or a bad feeling, just a O__O

I think it’s natural to feel that...  This is too fast?  In Adventure, Omegamon and other jogress forms required a strong bond between the human partners.  Taichi and Yamato just met, and they’re not exactly...  Er, well...  Taichi is trying very hard to Make Friends and Be A Team.  Yamato is focused on the mission and is not very communicative.

But it was implied that Hikari and Takeru somehow used the power of their holy type digimon partners to power up Omegamon’s form...  Which reminds me of the first appearances of Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon.  Maybe the rules are just different in the reboot!

I will say that I’m not feeling like...  WOOO, OMEGAMON!  Or even, WHOA, NO THANKS.  Just kind of an overwhelming, “Wow, already?  Huh.”  So...  Maybe that implies the first appearance of Omegamon could have been written to better effect?

Still, the reboot is more for new viewers than for us (although it certainly feels like Adventure viewers haven’t been forgotten), so I’d rather wait and see than make a strong comment now.

I’m so curious to see where the Reboot will go once Taichi/Yams/Kou-chan put out these immediate fires.  Will we see them much on earth, or will they leap from crisis to crisis on the net?  Will Koushiro try to figure out what’s going on from earth when things settle?  When will the others show up?  What’s the deal with Hikari and Takeru and the angel feathers?  I really like the high-stakes, fast moving pace of the first two eps, but I don’t know if it’s possible to keep running at 1,000% like this?  But who knows!

Regardless, I’m having a lot of fun!  While I can see some people feeling that the first two eps are too much, too fast...  I think it makes for a fun change!  Fingers crossed for more characters joining in soon.  I NEEDS ME SOME TENTOMON.

Digimon Adventure:

Episode 2 Review

First of all... This episode is like "Our War Game" TV-size. We have all throwback from "Our War Game" movie.

And second... Yamato oh Yamato. He still looked like a lonewolf to me BUT STILL he's different. He clearly made me loves his character :)

Okay so overall I loved this episode even though I feel this episode is so fast-paced, but I can see the pattern here. It's like Toei want to show something great first before moving to something new.

We have two episode now and I see Toei giving us something that lacked (or missed?) in original series. I loves the interaction between Taichi, Koushiro and Yamato and I loves Yamato characterization in reboot more than original (sorry OG Yamato :p)

I mean in this reboot I see Yamato is still a lonewolf but not a lonewolf either. He likes to work alone but still willing to work together if it necessary. He called Koushiro by his last name "Izumi" and I loves that. Giving me impression about how his "friendship" crest will work in the future. It gives Yamato a space of development from a "person who like to be alone" to "someone who value a friendship". Imagine that Yamato is calling everyone by their last name then something happened and trigger his crest and he's going friendly with the others 🤔

Just like Taichi's crest of courage that triggered by his mother and Hikari being in danger, maybe in the future episode we will see how Yamato's crest of friendship get stronger? Let's just see.

AND AND AND MY FAVORITE PART IS THE... *drumroll*

TAKERU AND HIKARI SCENE!

Yes. That one scene where they get the feathers and it's activate their Hope and Light crest AND THEN their power become the trigger of Omegamon digivolve.

OMG Toei I loved this! It's like showing how important Takeru and Hikari are to Yamato and Taichi.

Siblings relationship powers for the big brothers!

Okay Toei, I hope you can give me more of this siblings power because my heart need it af lmao 🤣🤣

Greymon and Garurumon already knew each other which makes me think maybe the digimon (include the others too) are actually already knew each other. It's just their partner who "meet for the first time". They're also more active in their own rather than depends on their partner and it's a great touch 👌

And yeah. So far the improvement of the episode is good. Pretty good for me and for now. Toei really did it. Made me hooked for the next episode with an expectation. (But again don't expect too much guys)

And here I am waiting for the next episode and improvement 😉

[fanfic] Secret of Ears:  Chapter 1

Ken carefully arranged his hair so that it fell over his ears, checking his reflection. The tips still pointed out of his hair, but not enough that anyone would call attention to them. He nodded; just the way that he liked them.

“Why do you hide those, Ken-chan?” Wormmon asked, peering up from where he sat on the back of the toilet.

Ken rested his hands over his ears for a few seconds before he turned to look at his partner. “Haven’t you seen other humans’ ears?”

Wormmon tilted his head, considering. “Well, yes. Yours aren’t like those.”

“I know.” Ken looked back at the reflection before he reached to pick Wormmon up and settle him on his shoulders. “But that’s why I don’t want people to see them.”

His ears were just different. The skin on them was paler than the rest of his body. But that really wasn’t the problem. He wouldn’t have cared if that was the only issue. They were pointed. Far more so than anyone else’s that he’d ever seen. He could keep his hair over the ends most of the time. No one had said anything about them for ages.

Though he did remember – long ago, when he’d been young, before his hair grew out to cover them. He didn’t remember the kid’s name, but one kid he’d played with at a park had – he shuddered just at the memory before he carried Wormmon out of the bathroom and into the living room.

Daisuke lay on the couch in the living room, V-mon next to him, chatting about the latest soccer scores with Ken’s dad. His dad didn’t play soccer, but he’d learned enough about it when Ken had to keep up with Daisuke.

“Ken!” Daisuke jerked up to his feet and grinned the moment Ken entered the room, previous conversation forgotten. “What took you so long?”

Ken just shook his head, ever so carefully. Daisuke knew about his ears but he never said a word about them. He never had, not since Ken started doing his best to be a better person.

“Are you ready?” Ken asked instead of answering. Daisuke wouldn’t press. He never did.

“Sure.” Daisuke waved at Ken’s dad, who waved back at him. “We can finish later?”

“Sure!” Mr. Ichijouji nodded. “You boys have fun and behave yourselves!”

Ken fought back a blush. His parents were well aware that the two of them weren’t only best friends. He thought they were a little sad that they’d never have biological grandchildren but Ken hadn’t ruled out the idea of adopting one day. He hadn’t talked about it with Daisuke or Wormmon, though. They were fifteen. There was so much time ahead of them.

Together the four of them headed out of the building. Daisuke chattered relentlessly the whole way, about at least half a dozen different topics, and Ken knew he was only required to nod and smile at the right points. He did listen, though. He loved hearing Daisuke babble about whatever was on his mind.

Right now it was ramen – which wasn’t a surprise since they were going out to have a ramen lunch. Daisuke insisted that he would have a ramen restaurant of his own one day and he searched for ramen all over the world. Ken didn’t even remember how many times he’d been taken out for ramen anymore. At least it was delicious – and Daisuke’s own cooking got better every time.

“You know, your ears aren’t that strange,” Daisuke said without warning. Ken stumbled over his own feet, catching himself, and staring at Daisuke.

“Where did that come from?” He raised one hand to make sure his hair remained tucked over the tips, while his other made sure Wormmon remained safe. Both those situations settled in his favor, he stared at Daisuke.

“I was just thinking, that’s all.” Daisuke shrugged. “I even know someone who has ears like that. Someone who isn’t you, I mean.”

Ken blinked, mouth working but not actually having nay words come out. He shook his head. No one else had those. He would have noticed – wouldn’t he?

“Yeah. You know him too.”

Ken didn’t have the chance to ask more questions, since they came to the train and they both had to worry with getting their tickets out and finding the right train. Once they got settled on their seats, he glanced around, not wanting anyone else to overhear this. While Digimon were known and the world remained in the process of adjusting to the existence of a fellow sapient species, there were always those who weren’t happy about it. He also suspected this conversation might bring up his past as the Kaiser and he really didn’t want that to be brought up around people who didn’t know.

There weren’t that many people around them right now. One little girl had her own Digimon partner, but no one else there seemed partnered. Ken nodded to himself, then turned to Daisuke, opening his mouth.

“Ichijouji? Is that you?”

It was a voice he didn’t recognize right away. But he wasn’t surprised that people he didn’t know knew his name – the remnants of fame clung to him, thankfully more for being a Chosen these days than anything else. He turned to see a teenager lurching down towards them. He was grinning wildly and threw himself casually into the seat next to Ken.

“Yes,” Ken murmured. “I’m sorry, I don’t remember you…”

“Yeah, you probably wouldn’t,” the teenager agreed a little too cheerfully. “Tachibana Noriaki. We played together when we were kids. Before your brother -” He waved one hand in lieu of finishing the sentence. Ken held back a flinch and managed to nod. He could think about Osamu without it hurting much these days. But he still didn’t like hearing him mentioned without warning.

Tachibana regarded Daisuke carefully before he looked back at Ken. “I’ve seen you on the news. So you grew up to be a hero, huh?” He grinned at the way Ken blushed. Daisuke leaned forward.

“Was there ever any doubt? He’s the best hero!” Daisuke declared without a breath of hesitation.

Tachibana grinned, displayed teeth that looked as if he had been sponsored by a toothpaste company. “Well, when he was a kid, I wouldn’t have guessed. Little kid drawing all the time.” He shrugged before he reached over and dug one hand into Ken’s hair, grabbing onto his ear. “And with these ears -” He pulled on the tips.

Ken jerked away, eyes going wide, and Wormmon glared at Tachibana. “Stop touching Ken-chan!” He snapped, ready to spew out silk at a moment’s notice.

Tachibana tilted his head. “Man, what’s the problem? You’ve see those ears, haven’t you? How can you resist?”

“Pretty darned easily,” Daisuke snapped back. “Leave him alone.”

Tachibana drew his hand back. “If you’re gonna be that way about it. Just trying to have fun.” He snorted and got up, walking to a seat farther away from them.

Ken leaned back on his own chair, tucking his hair back over his ears, trying so very hard not to tremble and not doing a very good job of it. Daisuke rested one hand on Ken’s.

“You okay?”

Ken nodded a little. His ears weren’t just a bit larger and pointed, they were sensitive. Having someone yank on them like that would leave them red and burning for ages.

Daisuke grumbled a few words that Ken suspected his parents wouldn’t be happy to hear on his lips. They were in English, and he had a surprisingly good accent. Ken tried not to feel so very warm inside from knowing that was because Daisuke was upset over something happening to him.

Before Daisuke said anything else beyond the few profanities, both of their phones started beeping, alerting them to a text. Ken glanced at his and blinked. He hadn’t expected this at all.

“A meeting?” All of the original twelve Chosen being called together by Koushiro. He wasn’t sure of what this meant, but it had to be something important. Izumi Koushiro wouldn’t gather them all without a very good reason. “Change of plans?”

Daisuke sighed, tucking his hands behind his head and pouting. “I guess. We can hit up the ramen place afterward? If it’s not too late.”

Ken nodded. He didn’t want to lose this special time with Daisuke, no matter what the issue was.

At least they were on the right train to get to Izumi’s place. Ken wondered what they would need to talk about. Some sort of new villain? They didn’t really have regular meetings when there wasn’t someone they needed to fight. He wasn’t even sure if they’d had those when there had been. He hadn’t exactly asked back then.

He ran one hand over Wormmon’s back and tried to ignore the way his ears ached. He’d been so looking forward to having a pleasant trip to a new ramen place with Daisuke. Today wasn’t turning out to be his day.

Notes: Tachibana is probably Uchiyama’s second cousin or something. Maybe I’ll make that my canon for them. Anyway, I didn’t mean this as a chaptered piece but I ran out of time and writing juice to make it a one-shot. The full hurt/comfort will be there by the end. As will how the breeds work into this. Though I’m sure you can guess, if you know what Piemon looks like. Extra Notes: As of August 5, 2020, this story is on indefinite hiatus. Izzy and Tentomon need love

Has someone tried to count all the times the digidestined would have died if it wasn`t for Koushiro (Izzy) Izumi? He is also the mentor of the next generation and the plot relies on him in every Adventure season. He might not be the official main character, but he is definately the most important one. I feel that people understimate his role. He is not just a `made for exposition`character neither because he doesn`t know shit. He is not a `know it all´ super genius, he spends the day researching, making theories with the information he is able to gather. 

His digimon, Tentomon, is also underappreciated. To be completely honest, if we are just talking about appearence, he is also one of my least favourites. I only like his baby levels (especially Pabumon, that green bubble is the cutest thing) and... maybe megakabuterimon¿?

Despite this, I must say Tentomon holds a digievolving logic, which is really good to see and it makes me not rant about his design even if I find it quite ugly.

The reason why I think Tentomon is one of the best digimons goes deeper than that. For a starter, I laugh so hard with him, he delievers the best lines.

Koushiro: We don`t know where the North is.

Tentomon: I do.

Koushiro: Where?

Tentomon: Opposite to the South.

He is not joking, he is seriously answering the question. Tentomon is pretty dumb but he still gets to be the digimon representative of the Crest of Knowledge xD  I am a sucker for this ironical non-sense.

However, the most important ingredient for me to love this character is the bonding with his human partner. Izzy and him learn so much from one another. It is simply beautiful how Tentomon tries to understand Koushiro, how he accepts him with all his manias and plain akwardness. The digimon actually encourages Koushiro to be curious and take ignorance as an opportunity to improve. This support is what helps our knowledge digidestined to grow.

That`s all I wanted to say, however, as I did with my Mimi Tachikawa`s post, I am going to add a list of my take on other Koushiro involving relationships a.k.a. gonna state my ships for Izzy:

As far as his sexual orientation is concerned, Kou is probably the only digidestined I headcanon as completely heterosexual. 

That`s why Taishiro is a BroTP for me.

I also enjoy the idea of Kou being very close to...

Takeru Takaishi.

I didn´t know I needed this friendhsip until Tri came out, still, I love it with all my heart.

Sora Takenouchi. 

Even if the redheads don`t hang alone, only meeting when the group does; they do talk an awful lot over the phone. Sora calls him when she needs an impartial opinion about her problems or is doubting what to do when facing a `life choice´ moment. He goes to her for emotional advise because he correctly thinks Sora is a more reliable source than Taichi.

Jyou Kido.

Their bonding is based in...

Huge admiration towards the other.

Intelectual debates.

Never ending existential conversations. 

Nerdiness Battles.

Despite not interacting much in canon, I like to believe Izzy does have a good relationship with Yamato Ishida that would go as followed:

They share whispered comments or exasperation gestures when Taichi and the others do/say something stupid (so, basically all the time haha).

When they are alone, oh boy, those are quality moments because these introverts understand the importance of some easy, calm and silent time. That is what they find in each other`s company: tranquility. And after so many crazy adventures, it sure feels like paradise.

At some point, Koushiro starts making fun of Yamato for being an edgelord. This is a quite OOC behaviour that only the blonde is able to unlock.

The girls I pair him up with are:

Mimi Tachikawa (As I have already made pretty clear on this blog).

Miyako Inoue. 

They have so many common interests!

Yolei is far more crazy and it would be interesting to see how that affects on Koushiro.

I have seen some KouKari content and... well, I wouldn`t have thought about it myself but I can somehow  see it working.

A/N: One week late, but... I finished!

So this drabble is loosely based on that one promo art where the boys are all dressed in white suits and Taichi in the middle holding that little box... find it here. Anyway, here's my take on it ;)

Day 7: Free day All the healing! | Characters: Takeru Takaishi, Sora Takenouchi, Koushiro Izumi, Taichi Yagami, Yamato Ishida, Jyou Kido | Wordcount: 1.037

Silly boys

Takeru found her softly sobbing in the doorway when he arrived to pick her up. As he approached, she wondered aloud why out of everyone, it was him who had to see her like this. Why he was the one to check in on her.

“Because you are my nee-san,” He answered, even though she didn’t expect a reply. Sora looked at him confused. “Not really, of course, but you always felt like one.”

The smile that formed on Takeru’s lips made Sora carefully smile along. But just a discreet smile, since she was still pretty heartbroken.

Yesterday came the news that Sora and her boyfriend of almost five years had decided to breakup. Apparently they had mutually decided it, though it still came as a shock to most of the others. But Takeru had already seen it coming. He always had a special connection with the auburn haired girl. She truly felt like an older sister at times, hence why the breakup was just a matter of close observation and gut feeling.

Takeru also knew that next weekend would be an important Ikebana exhibition for Sora’s mother, and the whole group was invited. Naturally, Sora had also planned on bringing her boyfriend as her date, but this only further broke the redhead’s heart as she realized she’d be alone for the event.

Though she was strong, and after a full day of crying and eating ice cream with Mimi, Hikari and Miyako, Sora had straightened her back. It wasn’t a secret that Takeru admired Sora’s strength, but at times, especially these, he wished she was able to tell the people around her exactly what she wanted, no, needed them to do.

And he knew that what she needed was friends soothing her. And maybe a new date…

Takeru smirked to himself, increasing his pace and with it, dragging Sora along.

“Oi, Takeru-kun, why the hurry..?” She asked with a mixture of curiosity, tiredness, and annoyance in her voice.

“Because I’ve got to show you something.”

“But I’m not in the mood for anything. I just want to crawl up into my bed and—”

“Wow.” Takeru stopped suddenly, making Sora turn her head slightly in confusion. His hand held tightly to her wrist, the strong blue of his eyes grabbing the attention of her own copper orbs. “That’s not the Sora I know. I know you’re sad, disappointed, probably even angry, but you’ve got to trust me on this. Sora-san, do you? Do you trust me?”

A careful nod with a trembling lip said it all. He could see her swallow and it absolutely pained Takeru to see her look so sad and vulnerable. He flashed her his trademark grin and Sora finally let out a giggle, her puffy eyes beginning to shine as her red cheeks turned into a genuine smile. Even with the aftermath of her sorrow written on her features, Takeru was glad to see the old Sora was still there.

“I can see you have something in store for me.”

“That’s correct. Or… actually we. Anyway, so I take that as you trusting me, right? Good, because we’re almost there.” Takeru said as he started walking again, Sora’s hand in his, guiding her to the place where the surprise for his nee-san was waiting.

“Koushiro-kun’s office?”

Takeru nodded and brought Sora with him into the building, guiding her to the front door of the office. Silently, Takeru slid open the door that divided the pair from the office, and by extension, Sora’s surprise. Holding Sora’s hands in his own, his fingers brushing over her wrist, he could feel her heart pulsating like mad. It was an excitement he was happy to feel, knowing that Sora’s heart wasn’t truly broken just yet. Besides, Takeru knew that this would help with healing the heart that cared so deeply for him and their friends.

In the middle of the office was Koushiro, accompanied by Taichi, Yamato and Jyou. Genuine smiles on their faces, their bodies clad in kimonos that Sora herself had designed for the boys during one of her school assignments. Each of the boys had a flower in their hands, the same ones that Sora had used in her favorite Ikebana piece. Remembering how Koushiro and Jyou had done their utmost best to discover what flowers she had used was a great memory to him. It reminded him of the yellow flower he had been carrying with him the entire time.

“I couldn’t wear mine, since that would spoil the surprise,” Takeru said as he stepped forward and away from Sora, turning around so he could take his place between the boys with a wide grin on his face. He pulled out the yellow flower he had been carrying with him. “But I do have my flower.”

He looked at Sora, who was already tearing up. This time not from her broken heart, but because of her heart mending slightly with every piece of the sight she took in. She put her hand in front of her mouth when Taichi pulled out a small little box with chocolates, gasping a little since Taichi looked like he was about to pop another kind of question. Instead, Taichi hit Yamato with his elbow, beckoning him to step forward as well.

Sora’s emotions went from tearing up, to a flushed face, to an almost anxious one, unaware of what was about to come next. Takeru could see her swallow, and soon after an already small smile formed on her lips, copper eyes twinkling from both tears and excitement. And he thought to himself how much his nee-san deserved this little piece of all of them.

Yamato scraped his throat, making Sora’s heart visibly skip a beat.

“Please, give us the pleasure to be your date next weekend.”

It was for the first time since the breakup that Sora truly and genuinely laughed. Sora’s feet glided across the floor to the boys as fast as they could carry her, nodding fiercely and falling into their arms for a warm group hug. Tears of pure joy streamed down her face.

“We love you, Sora.” Taichi concluded for all of them.

“Silly boys,” Sora sniffed, “I love you too.”

2. Cooking headcanon

I think that Koushiro is reliant on his mother’s cooking fora long time. When Koushiro is researching by himself, then he’s liable to losetrack of time for meals, or else he’ll graze on unhealthy snacks. But Mrs.Izumi loves cooking for him, and Koushiro is always a dutifully grateful son.

Koushiro is very nervous when it’s time for him to move outfrom his parents’ apartment. Mrs. Izumi helps soothe his fears by giving himcooking lessons. This is valuable bonding time for them both, and Koushirobegins to feel more confident about living on his own, even though he stillthinks that his cooking is inferior to his mother’s. Koushiro keeps a notebookof handwritten recipes that his mother gave to him as a present.

6. Hugging headcanon

Koushiro is generally awkward with hugs. He doesn’t think ofhimself as an affectionate person. When he meets Taichi and Sora in thefootball club, he discovers that Taichi is a warm person who gives excellenthugs, while Sora’s hugs remind him of his mother. (Both Sora and his mother arekind people, but they both worry about whether their hugs even help Koushiro.)

Koushiro thinks that Taichi and Sora are the two coolestkids in the club, and they shouldn’t waste their hugs on him. But over time, asKoushiro learns to like himself better, he feels happier to receive hugs fromhis friends. Which is fortunate for him, because his new friend Mimi is moreaggressively affectionate than either Taichi or Sora, and she is constantlysurprising him with hugs in class!

9. General physicalcontact headcanon

Like I said, Koushiro isn’t a touchy-feely kind of person.He’s generally very respectful of people’s personal space. After all, there areplenty of times when he just wants to be left alone. And Koushiro doesn’t likebeing touched by strangers.

HOWEVER. Koushiro’s demeanor changes when he startsexplaining a fascinating topic. His voice becomes louder; he might wave hisnotebooks in your face; or he might grab your arm and drag you to see theresults on his computer. He might even hug you, and his grip is surprisingly strong.Koushiro’s friends live for these moments!

12. Jewelry headcanon

I’m afraid that I’m going to sound boring, but I think ofKoushiro as the least likely to wear jewelry. Maybe that’s because I don’t wearmuch jewelry myself! (I do think that other boys like jewelry, especiallyYamato.) Anyway, my vision for Koushiro’s style was always different from what Tri came up with. As in, I imagineKoushiro as someone who doesn’t worry too much about his appearance, and hedoesn’t try too hard. When he dresses nice, he dresses conservatively, becausethe only people he wants to impress are his parents.

But I want to say something more interesting about jewelry!

I think that Mr. and Mrs. Izumi give Koushiro his biologicalparents’ wedding rings. Koushiro puts the rings on a shelf where he can seethem, and during one emotional night he puts them both on his finger to try tofeel closer to them. He might decide to use the rings with his future spouse.:)

13. Nicknameheadcanon

I struggle with giving these characters nicknames infanfiction, because I’m not familiar with Japanese and the honorifics. I likecalling him Kou though.

Speaking of nicknames, I do like the dub nickname “Izzy”because it is THE SILLIEST NICKNAME EVER. I think it’s a suitable nickname forsomeone as quirky as Koushiro. And it rhymes with his classmate “Mimi,” whichis fun. On top of all that, it’s got the unintentional emotional consequencesof being a nickname of his adoptive parents’ surname.

My sister writes Taichi as calling him “Iz,” so my heartalways melts at that!

15. Singing headcanon

Koushiro isn’t a bad singer, but you will hear adifferent perspective on this topic when you read my birthday present for you.

However, Koushiro’s singing voice is timid. He can be sweetto listen to, but he’s quiet. Koushiro prefers to listen to his friends who areeither more talented or simply louder at singing.

This changes when Koushiro adopts his daughter, and hestarts singing lullabies for her. Then it doesn’t matter how quiet his singingvoice is, because it is exactly the right volume for her. Koushiro likessinging for his girl, and not really for anyone else.

16. Anger headcanon

It’s rare to see Koushiro angry, because he’s good atstaying calm under pressure. Koushiro is also pretty tolerant of his friendswhen they’re annoying. After all, he thinks that he can be pretty annoyinghimself.

If someone is bothering Koushiro when he’s trying toconcentrate, then he will tell that person to “Please go away, you’re being a nuisance.”When Koushiro is irritated or wants to be alone, he speaks with an odd mixtureof blunt honesty and habitual politeness.

In contrast, if Koushiro is actually trying to talk to afriend and they aren’t listening to him, then he might snap and lose histemper. He’s not a particularly aggressive person, but the sight is unusualenough to be unnerving.

17. Soft spotheadcanon

Koushiro has a huge soft spot for bugs! He never kills them.If he spots a spider in his kitchen, he’s likely to forget what he’s doing andstart observing how beautiful the tiny creature is. One time when he waslittle, his father swatted a fly and Koushiro burst into tears. Another time,Koushiro brought a giant beetle to his class for show-and-tell, which madestudents scream.

Most people dislike bugs, so Koushiro accepts that it’s justanother part of his personality that makes him weird. But honestly, bugs areeasier to understand than people most of the time.

Koushiro was delighted when Motimon evolved into the red robot-ladybugTentomon. His digimon partner could not have been more perfect.

18. Favoritepossession headcanon

I tried to think of a clever response, but I HAVE to go withhis laptop! It’s obvious because it’s true! Koushiro might update his Pineapplelaptop over the years, but he always keeps one on hand like an absolute nerd.Koushiro’s computer is so clearly important to his personality and to theoverall plot, that I’m not even sure what else to say!

At worst, Koushiro relies too much on computers so that hecan avoid talking to real people. I think there are days when he worries thathe is more like a robot than a human being.

However, when he goes to the Digital World, Koushiro learnsthat he can use his computer to help people and even save lives. His laptop suddenlygives him a higher purpose, and it even helps him connect to people.

And Koushiro’s laptop is a fountain of knowledge!
