hadn't he given her plenty already ? his brow twitches a little as the rest of his expression briefly sets and steels to study the other , her spoken trick or treat still hanging about in the air . it's only within the same pause that she takes for herself that he realizes --- ah , she's gotten it wrong . far from on purpose , if the enormous sweet she was pulling from her bag was any sort of hint . does he try to hide his surprise , then he fails it . hawkish leer turns to wide-eyed rabbit-eyed stare , complete with the initial , self-evident shock and vague terror of someone witnessing another flail and brandish something akin to a stick grenade . nevertheless , after his own sort of recoil and pause , his gaze drifts to properly examine her supposed present for him .

the utter sense of it is bizarre --- in places that it shouldn't be . bold , love-laid gifts and ambitious trinkets hoping to become worthy targets set out as traps for the great phantom thief's attentions weren't wholly unusual ; the fleeting sentiments of distant , faceless strangers both ever-adoring and ever-cursing him throughout his myriad centuries . his silent acceptance of its entirety too was callous and numb as a deity's : dark could be readily be witnessed , a fallen angel in haloing searchlight ; spotlight , but beyond the acts of phantom thievery and every miraculous performance , he vanished into azumano's brick alley-way shade and never seemed to surface .

his presence here betrays , then . as does his inexperience his usual guile . a subtle flush dusts his cheeks , pink rose first grace upon the unnatural clarity of his monstrous mien . his covetous hands have forgotten what to do with themselves , if they ever remembered at all what it meant to be offered something without the necessity of theft and excessive theatrics . he has half a mind to divert attentions and remind her that nothing more than just dark would do for a name . but even then , that would have been nothing more than running away again --- back to himself in a round circle , her outstretched gift left ready in wait in her grasp , still there before him .

' i'll keep your words in mind . thanks for the warning . ' not one to leave seizing sweets without leaving behind his own sweet nothings , he leans in closely , black wings blooming , in order to to trade away what last whisper he's furtively reserved for her --- and her only . ' since it's as charming and wonderful as you are , i'll be sure to savor it with great care . '

only now does a smile stretch across his face , starlight in his eyes and teeth revealing themselves as he separates himself from her and lifts away . ' --- happy halloween , mimiko-chan . why not dress up and go to a party ? someone like you'd be a real treat at a masquerade ball . just a suggestion , of course . ' it didn't matter if she instead chose to stay home . as long as someone like her was enjoying herself overall , then everything should have been considered right within the world . ' before you go getting your hopes up , i doubt i'd be able to make it to any place like that --- but part of the fun of a masquerade is in not knowing who's who , don't you think ? who knows , it just might suit you . '

... and with those ambivalent words , he lends her one final wink before his departure .

Ohh if I am being honest it's all very impactful to me... I'm just a sensitive guy and I am willing to buy into any medium when I think it has something meaningful to say. If I had to choose just by virtue of most frequent exposure music and fiction tend to be the most touching to me! Ironically I think music works bc it's so relatively quick to experience and easy to access while fiction works bc it takes longer to get through and can be so deeply engrossing

ivy -> what are your ‘tells’ for your emotions and moods? how can someone tell you’re happy, annoyed, upset or tired?

Most of my tells are fairly subtle aside from a few of my stims I think! Any negative emotion/tiredness/annoyance etc I typically have even more of a blank face than usual bc I have less energy to put into forming expressions. My sentences usually get shorter or I stop being able to form words at all if it's severe. I tug at my finger joints, and I'll grip or run my hands over my jewelry or my stuffed animal if I have one with me (I try to bring my dragon Xiao Qing if I'm going someplace I know will make me anxious!). For happiness/enthusiasm/more positive emotions I tend to shake out my whole body like a big shiver and tap my fingers against my thighs or any metal jewelry I'm wearing. I get more verbose and flowery with my language, and if I'm really excited I like making little chuffs and growls at the front of my throat too! Also recently had it pointed out to me that when I'm very happy or embarrassed my ears turn bright red which is a shame for my carefully composed image but ah well [shrugs]

"You are absolutely insufferable," You grumble, but you indulge him with the scrape of your nails against his scalp. It sends a shiver down his spine, and he burrows his face further into your stomach.

"You sound like Obi-Wan," He muses, "I've heard insufferable, incorrigible, reckless, untamable, unmanageable-"

"Unshushable," You add, still making a valiant effort at typing one-handed rather than returning your second hand to its rightful place among Anakin's barely-curled scruff, "Do you ever stop talking?"

Corazon was the sweetest man you’d ever met. Sure, he was a master of deception – hiding his Devil Fruit powers and tricking his brother into trusting him was definitely not an easy feat. His anger issues could use some work, even though the reasons behind his outrage were always justified. But his loving personality and strong sense of morality were very real.

He never doubted your kind heart, either. You had joined the Donquixote Family simply because you had no other options, and dealing with his crazy older brother was better than starving on the streets. Corazon was able to relax around you, be silly and affectionate without being judged by his cold-hearted coworkers, and finally speak after long stretches of staying silent.

But there was more to him.

Doflamingo seemed to be the black sheep based on what little you knew about the biological Donquixotes. A rare case of madness in an otherwise well-intentioned family. However, the brothers still shared the same genes and the same horrific childhood. And even though Corazon never discussed his experiences in the Navy, he certainly witnessed terrible things that still weighed on his mind.

Your boyfriend tried his best to keep any deep-rooted darkness away from you, but it was unhealthy for him to repress every negative emotion. You wanted him to feel comfortable around you. He didn’t need to be an angel all the time.

One time, the eternally clumsy blonde almost fell trying to hover above you in bed. Not wanting to crush you with his ten-foot tall body, he caught himself by grabbing your arm. Hard.
