A Bright Boo Year

Happy New Year! For the tale end of 2023, my discord server did another Hocus Pocus Challenge. @13xwishes challenged me to write a drabble of our ship, Ocean Wishes (Lagoona/Gigi) celebrating the Boo Year with a kiss. So without further ado...

A big bash, with both Normies and Monsters. That happened more often after that disastrous Halloween. This time, they were ringing in the Boo Year together. Monster High was hosting, making use of their larger gym and general space. Most of the little cliques had separated for the early part of the party.

True to form, Lagoona was with the other jocks, playing casketball with some of the guys. She and a couple of the normie guys were creaming Clawd's team.

Meanwhile, in the clawditorium, the grimnastics team was getting in a little extra practice for the upcoming fundraiser. A few normies were watching the practice, cheering for the ghouls when they landed difficult moves. The camaraderie was surprising Gigi as she finished her routine, landing her final flips to cheers from both groups of students.

"The party is about to officially start!" someone called from the doors to the clawditorium.

"I don't know…," Gigi mumbled.

"What's the problem?" one of the normies laughed.

"It's complicated," Venus sighed. "Don't worry, Gigi. Besides. Lagoona will be there."

Gigi perked up at the thought of seeing her ghoulfriend. With events coming up, they'd both been so busy with their teams they hadn't had much of a chance to really be together in a while.

In the grimnasium, Lagoona landed one more shot, demonstrating a complicated shot that took advantage of the difference in her opponent's height and hers. She caught the ball on the rebound and high fived her team.

"Guys and ghouls, the party's about to really get going!" Claire called from the door. "Everyone's headed out to the yard for karaoke and fireworks."

Lagoona tossed the ball into the storage bin and they headed out. They got outside to a raucous party, everyone gathered already dancing with someone on stage singing off-key to some normie song or other. She spotted a vaguely familiar blond bespectacled normie chatting with Operetta, there seemed to be a small crowd near them of spirits that she knew couldn't sing without hurting anyone, and it made her wonder about the girl. She'd seen her around, but hadn't officially met her.

She found most of her friend-group mingling with their normie friends and she went over to them.

"Hey ghouls!" she called to them. "Have any of you seen Gigi?"

"She might be with the rest of the grimnastics team," Draculaura provided. "They were practicing for the fundraiser in the clawditorium."

The singer on stage hit a particularly sour note and they all winced.

"I'd rather Operetta get up there than this swill," Cleo grumbled.

"Be nice," Lilith laughed. "It's Chad…we couldn't stop him."

Lagoona looked up to the stage to see that it was, in fact, Chad up there giving a poor rendition of some normie musical song and maybe trying to mimic the choreography from the show? It was…painful to watch, but Lilith was right…Chad was one of those that did what he wanted.

Gigi came to the party with her group at the tail end of Chad's performance. She was nervous about the party. Mostly because she heard that people made wishes at midnight and if her magic acted up…it would be a disaster. Twyla assured her as they came to the crowd that everything would be fine and they should find Lagoona and Howleen. She couldn't agree more with the idea of spending the party with her ghoulfriend.

Again, she was utterly shocked by how the monsters and normies were partying together. The song on stage ended and there was weak applause for the boy who had been singing. The DJ called for another performer and Abbey came up. The yeti picked a song and performed a lively bhangra, singing in Hindi.

She heard loud cheering and spotted the ghouls. Lagoona included. So, she started gently pushing her way towards them. Abbey's song ended and she cheered for the ghoul.

"Very impressive! We have time for one more song before midnight!" the DJ called. "Any more volunteers?" No one stepped forward this time, so a pair of lights started passing over the crowd.

Lagoona spotted Gigi as the lights passed over the crowd. She separated from her friends and started wading the crowd towards her. She stopped short when one of the lights stopped right in her eyes.

"Crikey!" she gasped. "I can't sing!"

"That didn't stop Chad!" someone reminded her as the crowd pushed her up to the stage despite her continuing protests. She'd never sung before! But…she noticed Gigi getting a similar treatment.

Well, this was one way for her to get to Gigi and stay with her. So, she went the rest of the way on her own. Someone had set up a screen, presumably for lyrics to scroll over. She'd never done karaoke before.

Gigi joined her and they were talked through what to do. The music started and since Gigi seemed more nervous than she was, she started singing first. Gigi took her lead with the next verse and by the end they were hand in hand. The music stopped and the countdown began.

She didn't care about that as she gazed into her ghoulfriend's eyes and inched closer to that long-awaited kiss.

"3!" someone shouted, followed by "2!"

The final call was drowned out by cheers and fireworks. Lagoona didn't hear any of them as Gigi closed the distance and they kissed. When they parted, it was only for long enough to vacate the stage and go off away from the crowd to cuddle.

It really had been a while since they spent any real time together. And Lagoona was glad for this time.

"We've been really busy lately," Gigi noted as they settled in to watch the fireworks.

"Too right," Lagoona agreed. "You know what my wish for the year is?"

"What…?"

"To spend more time with the ghoul I adore so much," she said softly, kissing Gigi again. The genie giggled, remembering that poem from what seems like so long ago. Yes, that sounds like a doable wish.

Tikki gaped at Scorpina, at that mark. How? She still wasn't sure about the accusation of Fu being a 'false guardian', but that tattoo...it had to be somehow fake! There was no one else!

Was there...?

"How do you have that mark?" she demanded, not wanting to believe it.

Scorpina crossed her arms held her glare at the kwami of creation, not letting her demeanor waver away. The djinn in disguise learned a long time ago that even gods can be wrong and Tikki was out of line abusing her power over Ladybug. She allowed the kwami to continue her power trip, knowing what she would reveal next would stop her ranting.

Without saying anything, Scorpina kept her glowing eyes on the kwami while lifting her scorpion tail away then turning around…

… to reveal the embedded tattoo of lotus with the yin-yang symbol.

❝poltergeist report: 𝐔𝐍𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐃 | 𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍 : { Eclipsed | Be Scareful } There was a reason that despite regaining their powers, Gigi was reluctant to grant any wishes anymore. Ever since they granted a few out of kindness such as finding Clawd’s Homework or fixing the Grimmnasium, some of the other monsters tried to take advantage of them. It was getting on both of the djinn’s nerves.

The most relentless was Toralei Stripe.

Gigi did their best not to give her the time of day, ignoring any hints or wishes out right. Though it was testing Gigi’s will power and Whisp was doing her best to intervene such as tripping the werecat and causing ‘accidents’ via shadow. However, the next day Toralei was really pushing it as Gigi’s eyes began to glow red, ready to act. They clenched their fist… | client: @13xwishes | 𝙰𝙲𝙲𝙴𝙿𝚃𝙸𝙽𝙶.

Another day..another flippin’ school day. When he said he would have tried for his highschool diploma it sure didn’t meant he wanted to cross dimensions like this. But there was no use arguing over milk that’s already been spilled. The best thing to do now is simply endure it and see if he can graduate. At the very least Gigi made this new world…great and just being with them was reason enough for Yusuke to call it home.

Though whilst walking through the halls of his new school his eyes caught the sight of…what was the name of that girl? Toralei?? Either way, it seemed she’d been giving Gigi a little bit of hell..even Whisp seemed trouble..granted Whisp had always been the spicier one of the two. Either way Yusuke stepped past them to face Toralei himself. Giving the feline a deathly glare.  ❝   𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐬.   ❞  Said Yusuke rather firmly. “Or I’ll shove my foot so far down your throat I’ll be tyin’ my shoes out your ass!!”

Birthday gifts for two Ghouls

For the past few months Leon had been working on something special for the girls that they would get on this day. He knew he couldn't just give them something simple or another journal as they'd so many of those. Dresses were not his thing, besides they could just make ones appear at will. When he saw the girls that evening he smiled softly at them as he gave them both a bouquet of flowers. Pinks and golden flowers for Gigi, Purples and black for Whist "I hope that you two have had a wonderful day so far" He gave Gigi and Whisp a hug each and kissed their brow. "Now, I've one more surprise for you but I want you two to close your eyes and trust me" He instructed before taking their hands to guide them into the living room where he had the proper gift for them. Sitting in the middle of the room was a pair of hand carved wooden trunks, one one a  smoothed and polished cedar and the other a was another cedar but it was stained with a rich burnt umber.  Both were carved with a crest of Griever, the lighter one had the sun carved into it with flowers while the darker would have the moon and stars carved into it. Inside the trunk would be a new quilt for them, Aerith had helped him with those. Again, the colors they loved with symbols representing each of events of thier lives with him. “Alright, Open your eyes” Leon stood back, letting them look. @13xwishes (Happy birthday!)

We both know this can’t be helped.” Whisp said, trying to keep a smile on her face despite how much it hurt her to let go of her sister for a second time. “My finder decided on her last wish and now I’ve got to grant her wish and go.” She took her sister’s hands in her own as she tried to blink away tears “I’ll see you again soon, sister”

❝I adore her. I really, really do. There’s so much I could sit and talk to her about but... When I want to, my body disagrees with me, it’d seem.❞ She admitted. The Franken ghoul wanted to express her feelings completely and confidently, but it seemed... im-paw-ssible, almost.

❝Gigi—❞ The Franken girl spoke softly, her eyes darting up toward the plant above her. She wasn’t completely sure how to handle this kind of situation with Gigi... Mistletoe was a traditional concept and she didn’t want to pressure her into anything she wasn’t comfortable with.

After saying her name like that, Frankie took a deep breath, scooping the djinn by her cheeks with her hands, giving her a gentle kiss on the lips, quickly pulling away, just in case. Her face was rather rosy.

❝S - Sorry... I just...❞ She stammered, rubbing the back of her stitched and bolted neck. ❝It’s... A traditional thing for this time of year—❞

       Sport gives a lot of health benefits, it heals, it becomes one’s escape, it improves. The feeling of triumph with every success is like a wave of endorphins that could last for a good while and rise one’s spirits. To be a champion it takes effort, patience, and skill.

       Atem knows Gigi will be performing on the Grimmnastics team. He reserved himself a special spot so he could watch the performance as closest as he can in the rows of seats for the audience. He would cheer for the previous teams but he is all in all waiting for Gigi’s appearance the most. The sounds of the crowd become part of his mind, reaching in and bringing out the joy. A smile etches on Atem’s lips as they announce Gigi’s appearance. He raises his fist high up in the air enthusiastically, spark of excitement reflecting in gleeful amethystine gaze.

       Own the stage, Gigi! Show them how. Do what you do best! He leans forth in his seat, resting an elbow on his lap and the other on the arm rest, clearly focused. As Gigi does the triple soul-mersaults, Atem could sense tension, his heart beating swiftly in his chest. It’s both a mix of excitement and worry, but the former seems to overwhelm. He believes in Gigi, but yes, of course, he cares for her well-being. It is an intense moment after all. And then when she lands perfectly on her feet and gives a bow, the Pharaoh immediately stands up from his seat and claps in her honour. Gigi aced it! It’s exhilarating to witness her success. As though his hand captures the air kiss sent his way. With one playful motion he presses the pads of his two digits to his cheek like it’s the reification of her kiss and winks.

My Opinion on;

Character in general: Gigi and Whisp are two characters of Monster High that deserved way more screen time!  How they play them: Granted I only rp with Gigi, who Angel Captures perfectly! And Whisp is sassy and I love it! The Mun: Angel, is a sweetheart and is someone I actually got the chance to meet in person! Can’t wait to get to see her again!

Lost on Skull Shores

Nothing excited Lagoona more than getting to go home on school breaks. And this year, she was bringing her ghoulfriends. They were setting out on the yacht after the spring fair, so she was checking her bags and meeting with the boat to get everything ready before her last classes.

Most everyone had already sent their luggage along, which wasn't a surprise. Though she was surprised that Draculaura had managed to finish packing before they were about to head out. She had a few things left to pack, so she did that, double checking her bags and adding what she needed.

She was most looking forward to spending a whole week with Gigi, showing off--she hadn’t told Gigi yet! She completely spaced on it like a complete dillweed. She’d told all the other ghouls (Cleo had just assumed that she was invited) but not the most important guest! What if she already had plans? Well, she could ask at the fair.

At the fair, Lagoona latched onto her ghoulfriend and showed her around. And she nailed a few bullseyes along the way, winning a small pile of plush animals.

“So, do you have any plans for Spring Break?” she asked as they went over towards another game.

"Okay...that's unusual," Julieta sighed, staring blankly at the spot where the portal had been. "Whisp, mija, are you okay?"

Julieta ran around the counter island and went to help Whisp up. She thrust an Arepa into Whisp's hand, muttering in Spanish. The counter tiles tapped a worried sounding rhythm.

"Guess you're stuck...," Isa grumbled. "For...whatever reason..."

"Is everyone okay?" Dolores squeaked, coming back to the kitchen. "I think I was the only one that heard that but..."

Gigi gave a worried look, hoping she didn’t offend the women when Whisp insulted the mother and apparent head of the household. She was always telling her younger twin that even though they hold higher authority, it didn’t give the princesses any right to belittle anyone!

Even IF the woman was scary…

The pink princess wanted to go after Pepa since Julieta pointed out the cloud as Whisp was thrusted with new clothes. The moon princess sighed and groaned in annoyance for this entire mess. She would make sure Gigi would talk to father about ALL of this later. She allowed her powers through shadow to come behind her and carry the clothes.

       ❝ That won’t be necessary. We appreciate the hospitality and everything you’ve done for us, but we should be heading home now. We’ve worried father enough thanks to SOMEBODY wandering off. ❞

Whisp then held out her palm, ignoring Gigi’s pleads of possibly saying goodbye to the others for helping them. Her eyes then turned black as she focused on making a portal to connect back to their home. The kitchen’s shadows began to move and swirl before forming a circle near Julieta…

It’s began to grow and grow… with a bit of light showing a large castle at the other side of it…

But then… something was wrong…

       ❝ Wh… what?… ❞

The familiar gold glow of the candle’s magic surrounded the portal and fought back against Whisp’s will before finally closing it, sending a small shockwave to knock the moon princess back against the wall!

Shopping

When Leon needed to cook he had no issue going to the market to pick up things he would need, shopping for veggies and meats, fruits and things he needed to bake the things he wanted. If he needed things for work he would make an order and pick it up when the shipment came in, that was something he could handle. What was a struggle for Leon was when he had to go shopping for clothing, his usual go to attire was jeans and a simple shirt or his leathers. Those were not the typical attire for more important dates that he was going to have to start going to. His last dress shirt had ripped and he now was in need of something new, which was why he was dreading this moment. “Come on, its not going to be that bad. We know what we are doing”  Leon looked over at Whisp who was giving him that grin of hers, this meant they were not going to go to the local shop. “When you two get involved this tends to be more of an adventure then a simple shopping trip. I can do this on my own you know.” “If we leave it up to you, you’re going to come home with more blacks and your entire closet is nothing but black tones. Save for the rare white tops and you really....really need color” Whisp added again as her sister nodded with a light laugh. “Trust us, we want you to look as good as we know you are! Please, let us take you shopping” Gigi clapped her hands together, a pout forming. One that Leon had a hard time resisting. “Ngh....you two will kill me one of these days” He groaned and bowed his head. “Fine....fine...”

Working List of Universes

Mainverse : 

This universe mostly adheres to the canon of the original “Monster High” webisode and movie run, with some exceptions. Catty is a werecat popstar who has recently temporarily stopped touring, allowing her to settle into a normal day-to-day routine and attend Monster High and eventually college.

In this universe, Catty is the daughter of a werecat (Duchess le Noir, an OC) and a warlock (Salem Saberhagen, from “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”). She did not inherit any of her father’s magic powers, but this does give her a certain understanding about magic and an immunity to certain spells.

Catty is dating Gigi Grant ( @13xwishes ) in this universe.

Canonverse :

This universe completely adheres to the canon of the original “Monster High” webisode and movie run.

Reboot AU :

This universe adheres to the canon of “the Adventures of the Ghoul Squad.” Catty has been living alone in an abandoned theater for the past few years, left there by her werecat parents to fend for herself. She has a lovely singing voice, and used to give private shows for other monsters - the only time she ever had any company. An unlucky accident has given her stagefright, unfortunately, but the Ghoul Squad have brought her to Monster High and are helping her get back on track.

Ever After High AU :

Catty Noirbottes is the rebel daughter of Puss in Boots. She has no desire to slay ogres or manage the lives of others, and instead wants to become a professional singer. [link to her bio here]

Grimm AU :

Based on NBC’s tv series “Grimm,” Catherine “Catty Noir” Black is an African American popstar who is known for her beautiful voice and her glamorous looks. Unknown to the general public, Catty is secretly a shape-changing jaguar-like creature known as a Balam.

Marvel comics/X-men AU :

Catty is the child of mutants who inherited their same condition. Like her mother, Catty has superstrength and can heal quickly - like her father, Catty resembles a cross between a human and a cat. She was born this way, and has never known what it’s like to be a normal human. She currently attends Xavier’s School for the Gifted, and almost never leaves the campus. Her birth name was Catherine “Catty” Knox, and her mutant name is “Catty Noir.”

Pokemon AU :

Catty is a talent show trainer with a team of several musically talented pokemon, including Glameow, Whismur, Jigglypuff, Skitty, Jynx, and Diancie.
