Canadian Authorities Can’t Recognize Child Abuse When They See It By Max Derrat
Remember when you were in elementary school… and all the kids had regular, boring names like Scott, David, Kelly and Emma? Yet, there was that one kid who had a weird name like Ferdinand or Amaryllis… and all the kids picked on them for their name? We’d be all like… “god, their parents must really have it out for them to give them a name like that.” Well, I’ve got a story for you that is sort of a… let’s say… modern update to that childhood trauma. Let me introduce you to a Canadian parent named Kori Doty. She is a self-identified ‘non-binary trans person’, and is also a Max Derrat-identified child abuser. She recently had a child she named Searyl Atli. Since Searyl’s birth last November, Kori has been fighting to keep her baby’s gender off government records. In an interview with the CBC, Kori said she is “raising Searyl in such a way that until they have the sense of self and command of vocabulary to tell me who they are.”
Kori added: “I’m recognising them as a baby and trying to give them all the love and support to be the most whole person that they can be outside of the restrictions that come with the boy box and the girl box.” In order to reinforce her world view, she has been trying to get the provincial government of British Columbia to issue a birth certificate without a gender marker. While the baby has received health cards with an “undetermined” gender, Searyl has yet to receive a birth certificate to Kori’s liking.
So not only is Kori’s baby named Searyl, but the baby doesn’t have a gender. It’s almost like she wants the school-kids to crucify her child during recess. By the way, to all of those who are offended that I was referring to Kori as “she” rather than “they”… two things: 1) I don’t give respect to child abusers, and 2) suck my big fat yellow cock. The Pronoun Police By Mike J.
Canadian police in the Halton region have tweeted out the following last week, "DYK (Did You Know) If you're not sure what pronoun somebody uses, just ask. What are your preferred pronouns?". The now deleted tweet also included a handy chart denoting the proper usage of gender pronouns. The chart included traditional pronouns such as he, she, and they and lesser known pronouns such as ze, zir, and eir. It's no secret that this tweet follows in the wake of Bill C-16, the very same bill Professor Jordan Peterson criticized as infringing on freedom of speech. Bill C-16, which passed June 19th of this year, criminalizes using incorrect gender pronouns with fines and possible hate crime charges.

Progressivism Collapses Under Its Own Logic By Max Derrat
There’s nothing that makes me feel more satisfied than when I see the internal inconsistencies of progressive leftism exposed. Pro-tip to anybody who detests a particular segment of the radical leftist movement and wants to see it collapse: single out the lead voices and ask for their thoughts on Jews (I’m being facetious by the way).
About a week ago, during a gay pride parade in Chicago, three people were ejected for carrying pride flags emblazoned with a Jewish Star of David. When organizers tried to rationalize their decision later on, some bizarre statements were made. In a blog post on chicagodykemarchcollective.org, the flag carriers were accused of “expressing Zionist views that go directly against the march’s anti-racist core values.”
One of the flag carriers, named Laurel Grauer, said that she has marched for ten years with the flag. During the march, organizers, volunteers, and other marchers expressed views that can be summarized into one sentence: “You have to leave because you are making people feel unsafe. You are putting them in danger by being here.”
When Laurel expressed support for the State of Israel, she also tried to state a belief that there should be a free and independent Palestine. But nevertheless she was shut down with the following: “You cannot be Zionist and believe in a Palestinian state, Zionism is inherently racism.” Laurel followed up with the following question to one of the organizers right before she left: “So you are asking the two people carrying Pride flags with Jewish stars on them and the ‘God hates fags’ contingent?” The volunteer answered: “yes”.

  Vice Fighting Back Against Archiving
By Andrew G.
Archiving Services such as the Wayback Machine, archive.is, megaladon.jb and others, are now joining the ranks of Discord and 4chan as “right-wing” websites and online services, according to Vice News. Vice has changed its website so that it is very difficult to view some archived articles posted on their website. For example, while attempting to archive some Vice articles using the Way Back Machine, users will be greeted with a 404 error: “page not found.” While one can still take screenshots of webpages, screengrabs are always susceptible to claims of modification. A webpage can still be saved as html to one’s computer, but Web Browsers FireFox, Chrome, and Edge will have problems displaying the saved webpage, while only Internet Explorer is able to display the html in its entirety.
Vice has decided to go this route because they are “taking a stand against Racism, Bigotry, and Islamophobia,” and that archiving services are being used by “right-wing activists to discredit us and other reputable news outlets.” Vice claims that by archiving articles, Vice isn’t given the chance to “update, remove or edit” the original posts and that their reputation is being damaged in the process.
However, isn’t the point of archiving services supposed to “archive” what was originally written, as well as show the changes that have been made? And, should we be putting the trust in “news outlets” such as Vice to show any edits to articles they post?

August 1, 2018: Columns
(KEN WELBORN’S COLUMN WILL RETURN NEXT WEEK)
A tribute to a distinguished veteran of many colors
Tumblr media
 By WALTER S. McSWAIN, Jr.
Guest Columnist
One of the most significant and important events in the history of our county took place May 3, 1940--Blue Ridge Mountain VFW Post 1142 was chartered by a few good veterans.
Since that time our community has been blessed by so many very good works, as the foundation and purpose of our VFW post is to "Honor the dead by serving the living."  Our post has had the honor of being "All-State" six times between 1979 and 2017.  Post Commander Joe McMillan and Quartermaster Ward Eller attended the National Convention in Phoenix, Arizona in July 2009 to accept the "All American Post" award for Post 1142 in 2009.
 Outstanding!
The Honor Guard unit's contribution to our community of veterans and their families, and the superb auxiliary certainly gave credence to the acceptance of this "All American Award."  A few of our post's services and programs include, providing playing fields for our youth, a campground for visitors, visits to Veterans Hospitals, annual Veterans' Day observance, scholarships for young students, Buddy Poppy  distribution, Gold Star banquet, Christmas party for members and families, Saturday night dances for one and all, and the array of services our Auxiliary provides.  We appreciate the support of members and friends and are thankful for the interest and support of the community.
One of our distinguished comrades has enjoyed many years of service and dedication to Post 1142, the state, the national organization, and the community in which we live.  To acknowledge his many contributions is what this narrative is all about.
Music has been a part of comrade Ward Eller's life since he was a teenager growing up in western Wilkes County.  His cousins, Ralph, Edwin, and Bill Church, got him interested in music and it wasn't long before they were performing at schools, churches, and dances in the area.

Their band was known as "The Church Brothers" and the "Blue Ridge Ramblers."  Their reputation spread over into Tennessee and they were signed by Rich-R-Tone Recording in 1949.  One of the recordings was a song Ward and Drusilla Adams composed, "You're Still the Rose of my Heart."  Others who played with the two groups included Drake Walsh, Elmer Bowers, Gar Bowers, Ralph Pennington and Johnny Nelson.
In 1951 the war in Korea had begun and Ward was drafted into the Army.  After his discharge two years later, he enrolled at Appalachian State Teacher's College and earned a degree in Education.  He later received a Master's Degree fro East Tennessee State in Administration.  He began as a teacher in 1958 at Mt. Pleasant, then as principal at Ferguson Elementary in1964, principal at Ronda-Clingman, and principal at Millers Creek Middle School until his retirement in 1990.
All the while, music remained a big part of his life, most notably performing at the VFW Dance for over 60 years beginning in 1956. He is listed as a Pioneer of Bluegrass in the International Blue Grass Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky, and is the winner of the Dr. T. R. Bryan award from the Wilkes Heritage Museums Blue Ridge Music  Hall of Fame.,
Ward's involvement in Post 1142 and District 15 has been outstanding, being a member of the Honor Guard Unite since its beginning In April of 1997.  IN 2001, as District 15 Commander, he was able to get high school diplomas for 14 honorable discharged veterans of World War II who hadn't received them.
These contributions of service are recognized by the many caps he has worn, including Post Commander, National Aide-de-Camp, National Quartermaster, District 15 Commander, and as Quartermaster for Post 1142.
Ward's dash (life) has been full of wonderful events, and we are all so very thankful for him.
As we checked over the list Ward's accomplishments, we remind you of the most important one, the day he and Kate were married, October 4, 1953.  She is still the "Rose of his Heart," and has been by his side all the way.  And they're blessed with wonderful children, Doug and Karen.
May the Lord bless and keep us, may the Lord make His face to shine upon us, and be gracious unto us.  May the Lord lift up his countenance upon us, and give us peace - and a safe journey to our respective places.
Amen.
 The Space in Between
By LAURA WELBORN
There are several things I struggle with, but mostly I have found it is giving something the space needed.
Space for people to speak- as I have a tendency to fill space with my own words.  Space for people to figure things out on their own.  Space to trust that things will work out in their own way without me trying to manipulate it in my time.
Life tends to humble us gradually as we age.  Over-committing is something that I do almost without thinking and ultimately not giving myself space for “nothing.”  I think I can fit it all in- then I become anxious when I am late, or unable to do it all.
I admire people who know their limits and say they can’t fit it in. When raising children how often did I fill up their time with sports, school events, church without giving them time to just roam or figure out what to explore with a summer day. Even child care has strict schedules of structured activities.
“Focus on what’s important and then leave space - the time to think it through and find your own solutions. Over time you will learn that many great things happen unplanned, and some big regrets happen by not reaching exactly what was planned.  Keep your life ordered and your schedule under-booked.  Create a foundation with a soft place to land, a wide margin of error, and room to think and breathe every step of the way.
The other thing with space is giving people space to handle situations, to develop into their own skin or individuality — the qualities that make them unique.   We all have quirks and a weirdness about us.  The more relaxed you become with your own differences, the more comfortable you will start to feel just being you.   Celebrate being different, off the beaten path, a little on the weird side.  If you find yourself feeling like a fish out of water, find a new river to swim in.
Don’t get to the end of your life and find that you lived only the length of it; live the width of it as well. When it comes to living as an authentic, whole human being, the only challenge greater than learning to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes, is learning to walk a lifetime comfortably in your own. And when you are truly comfortable in your own skin, not everyone will like you, but you won’t care about it one bit.” (Marc and Angel Hack Life Blog)
Space in the moment before you speak or act, space to look at a situation from all angles, space to explore, unplanned to space to see what “bubbles up” in situations and having enough faith to let things develop in their own time and space.  It's all about the space between two points where opportunity grows.
Anti-Semitism; Ancient but on the Rise
By EARL COX
Special to The Record      Man’s inhumanity toward man began almost at the dawn of recorded history and hatred for the Jews is just as ancient. The Egyptian pharaoh and his people became markedly anti-Semitic based on fear and not much has changed.
The past two thousand years have seen vicious and brutal physical attacks on Jews the world over.  In Europe, anti-Semitism is particularly virulent and historically has often been instigated by Christians who believed they were serving God by punishing the Jews.
Hitler deeply believed the Jews were an inferior race. While religion played a part in the rise of Nazi Germany it was not the lone driving force. The quest for power and the creation of a “superior race” through eugenics ultimately led to the Holocaust whereby six million people, mostly Jews, were tortured and murdered. Whole families were exterminated.  Church doctrine created fertile ground for anti-Semitism to grow largely through the false assertion that all the blessings from G-d for Israel were transferred to the church. In short, the church taught that Christians replaced the Jews as G-d’s chosen people; a concept still taught today and it’s called Replacement Theology.
But many Bible believers who did not follow mainline church leaders felt otherwise. When Israel was reborn as a nation-state in 1948 as foretold in the Bible in Isaiah 66:7-8, Replacement Theology was turned on its head. Clearly G-d was not through with Israel or His people!
After World War II there were fewer episodes of organized pogroms against the Jews however Jew-hatred persisted and, sadly, is prevalent today.  The horrors of the Holocaust made it apparent that the Jews needed a land of their own.  For millennial Israel has been a haven for Jews. Their connection to the land of Israel has been unbroken even when the majority of the Jews were dispersed throughout the nations following the destruction of the Second Temple by the Romans in 70 C.E
In 1948 the Jewish people reestablished the Jewish state of Israel on their ancestral homeland assisted and blessed by the United Nations and certain governments around the world. Why Israel?  For one a central part of the Jewish faith has always been an expressed desire to return to their ancient homeland.  Another reason is that Theodor Herzl and others began a campaign for Jews to return to their ancient homeland in the late 19th century because of anti-Semitism. This was while the Ottoman Empire had authority over the land. Eliezer Ben Yehuda played a very large part in Jewish Aliyah (immigration to Palestine as the land was then called) and revived the Hebrew language to be used once again for a national language.
Of course there were many who opposed Jewish Zionist aspirations based on anti-Semitic sentiments. In 1947 the United Nations voted to partition the land into two states; one Jewish and one Arab.  Even though the land allotted for Israel was largely desert and swamp, the Jews immediately accepted the plan but the Arabs flatly rejected it.  War ensued with five Arab armies invading tiny Israel which had barely taken its first breath as a new state.  Even so, the fledgling state of Israel prevailed against the full force of Arab aggression and sent them running back to the U.N. asking for protection from Israel.
The displaced Arabs who rejected the U.N. partition plan are now calling themselves Palestinians.  They have become masters at public relations and media manipulation and today are claiming they want land lost to Israel during the various wars to be returned to them even though it is land which they declined to accept when originally offered in 1948.  The Palestinians seem to be winning the psychological war of world empathy so much so that much of the world no longer recognizes historical and current facts and is reticent to label attacks by Palestinian extremists as acts of terror against Israel and her people.
As anti-Semitism around the world rises, emotional support for Israel is declining. Open hatred for the Jews is today expressed in many forms both overt and covert. Jewish or Israeli speakers invited to address students on college and university campuses are often treated disrespectfully as their words are drowned out by hissing crowds who are often paid by Muslim student organizations.
On the streets ordinary Jewish citizens are openly attacked. While especially prevalent in Europe, it is also happening in the United States. Synagogues, Jewish places of worship, have been burned and vandalized and Jewish cemeteries have been desecrated. Even in “small town, USA,” police are hired to stand guard around synagogues while worship is taking place. Jews in certain parts of Europe, to include London, are being warned to refrain from wearing jewelry, kippahs or other outward signs or clothing marking them as Jews as this marks them as targets.
Thankfully, many states in the U.S. have adopted legislation making acts of anti-Semitism punishable as hate crimes. The U.S. State Department defines anti-Semitism as “a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of anti-Semitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.” While outward acts of anti-Semitism are easily recognizable, anti-Semitism also manifests in more subtle ways designed to have a negative impact on Israeli and Jewish businesses.  A more subtle form of anti-Semitism is the BDS (boycott, divestment and sanctions) movement which has taken root around the world.  Those who engage in BDS are attempting to keep Israeli products away from consumers and Israeli artists from earning a living as actors, musicians, painters and so on. Ironically, such boycotts are actually backfiring as a great percentage of the Palestinian people are gainfully employed by Jewish and Israeli businesses.
The only way to combat anti-Semitism is to know the facts. To be anti-Semitic is to be anti-Israel and to be anti-Israel is to be anti-G-d; the G-d of the Bible who loves Israel and His special chosen people who happen to be the Jews. I don’t know about you but in the fight of good versus evil, I prefer to stand squarely on the side of good with the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
 A Weekend Breakfast
By CARL WHITE
Life in the Carolinas
So, there I sat in my booth at Cagney’s in North Wilkesboro for a Saturday morning country breakfast of bacon, soft scrambled eggs with biscuit and gravy.
While I enjoy the flavors, I think the memories of growing up in a family that celebrated many of life’s specials moments around a table: set with savory country cooking is even more cherished than the food itself.
While I didn’t think of it at the time, those moments had a profound influence on my life. I’m sure those early days of celebrating life contributed greatly to the fact that I enjoy bringing people together for special occasions.
The idea of not offering food and beverage to guest seems to be an assault on the idea of civilized Southern Hospitality.
I don’t think it needs to be a lot, but it needs to taste and look good. I understand that taste and looks are subjective, but a good effort goes a long way.
I’m certain it’s not just a southern thing, but I do think that we southern folks have a great knack for it and the stylistic way we do it sets us apart from others.
In the adjoining booth was a gathering of 3 who were celebrating the birthday of Buretta Faw, she was joined with her good friend Rita Aguilar and Buretta’s granddaughter Lexis Wyatt.
While I was not part of their party, I could not help but to notice the happy moment. Buretta was presented with a variety of gifts, the first gift was jewelry that featured a sea shell, to which she displayed an expressive smile and said, “I see a trip to the beach coming up”.
The next gift also featured a sea shell to which with even more excitement she expressed her certainty that a trip to the beach would be in the not too distant future. With this comment, there is no doubt that Buretta loves trips to the beach.
Mid way thru my breakfast I noticed that the last gift was being presented.
It was a larger box that contained a custom bag that was printed with pictures of what must have been friends and family. As she looked over her gift her beaming smile was joined with tender tears.
While I did not know any of the celebrating people in the booth next to me. I felt the moment.
I extended a birthday wish and took a picture just like I was part of their group.
We do a lot of things over the course of our lives. As Americans, we spend billions a year on the things we surround ourselves with.
As the years pass and as the interviews and stories keep adding up. I’m noticing more and more about what truly seems to be important in life for most people, including myself. It’s not about having a lot of the stuff.
For the most part, it’s the people in our lives, the good memories, the being together and the images of those we care for that makes our face leak.
