This is a fun one... I don't tend to dig as deep into the outer reaches of the muster lists as you do (it's one of the things I really admire about you), but I do have some big thoughts about characters who have barely any lines.

Henry Thomas Dundas Le Vesconte:

I've told you this before in private messages, but upon rewatch, I've discovered a sort of... characterization anchor? for my headcanons about our favorite casually mutinous, grey-haired Victorian babe—namely, that no matter how little he respects some of the people above him on the chain of command, he has a deep respect for the existence of the chain of command and the structures and regulations of the Royal Navy. He may not think Crozier or Little are fit for command, but he's very aware that they outrank him, and his actions and behaviors reflect this.

My unpopular headcanon is that Little didn't kill him. I don't know how this got to be considered almost a given fact by the fandom. I like the concept, but I don't know if Little would have been able to bring himself to do that.

Sir James Clark Ross:

This is probably a common headcanon, but I ship him and Francis Crozier as platonic AND romantic AND a secret third thing. I just know they were doing Left Hand Of Darkness activities on the Antarctic ice. Fellas, is it gay to lick the ice from your buddy's eyelid and lashes when his eye has frozen shut? How about if you've found the thing you don't earn, and can't keep, and often don't even recognize at the time... together?

First impression: I'd seen declan hannigan before watching The Terror so I was watching for Henry Thomas Dundas Le Vesconte like a fucking hawk. Admittedly I wasn’t scanning every scene to find vaguely dundy-shaped officers but it was like. love at first sight or whatever I got a fucking kick out of him. and then he mutinied against edward which was CRAZY to me on the first watch

Impression now: I get him now. he wants to live!!

Favorite moment: I was enraptured by the amputation scene. my bad. my bad. and I'm actually kind of mad it was never talked about or referenced again because he lost two of his fucking toes!! and stanley and des voeux were bitching back and forth the whole time. The scene where James mourns Sir John comes in close second, though, because someone leaves the room, walking between them, and Henry just keeps staring at James with this insanely charged look. like nothing could pull him away from James. Insane.

Idea for a story: I really want to explore more of his dynamic with Edward after he convinces him to abandon camp! Idk. Because Edward is clinging to his last shreds of hope and Henry is in a pit of absolute despair. An element to that, I think, is that Henry knows Graham would know what to do. And James would know what to do. But both of them have since passed. ugh!!

Unpopular opinion: I don't even know what the popular opinions about this guy are because I'm so locked in to my own dundy bubble. But I think he hates Crozier because of how he treated James. and subsequently becomes jealous of him after how close he gets to James, how soon. He never stops loving James, though, and I think he parallels Jopson in that regard. He's still waiting like a dog by James' door.

Favorite relationship: His relationship to Fitzjames is really something BUT my favorite dynamic of his (that I mostly made up) is the one he shares with Graham. Henry’s a fine officer but he’s high strung, and Graham is a source of needed reassurance. Graham knows what he’s doing, he trusts in his command, he’s Henry’s perfect pillar. And Henry can lay his charm on thick but Graham has a genuine goodness in him-- Graham makes him a better officer and a better man. Graham's death leaves a hole in him.

Favorite headcanon: I think his devotion to Fitzjames really defined him throughout the series. He only gave up hope and began to dissent after they had to bury him in the landscape. James was his last tether to humanity after Graham died idk what else to tell you. But also ☝️ I think Graham's death hit him like a sack of bricks. It was almost impossible for him to imagine anything happening to Graham, the man that he was; he was strong and good to others. He was genuine. He was the first officer of the flagship; it shouldn't have been him.

given its storied past, lavender has gathered many meanings since its discovery. generally, it is said to represent serenity, calm, grace, and elegance. the gentle hue and aroma is supposed to soothe and delight the receiver of the flower. for victorians, though, lavender was meant to symbolize either distrust or loyalty. it would be given in bouquets solely consisting of the small, delicate flower. a representation of how fragile some loyalties can be or, if given a large bouquet, to represent how much devotion the giver has for the recipient. another interpretation was that the bouquet was to express an insecurity or questioning of the giver’s own loyalty - from actions past, present, or future - and to signify a remorse or request forgiveness for the uncertainty. a fitting representation, perhaps, that even the smallest actions can carry the heaviest of burdens.
