Yamato Ishida's clothing style - a meta analysis

Since Yamato has won the fashion analysis poll ahead of Sora, Mimi, Takeru and Hikari, he'll be the third to get one after Koushirou and Taichi. Fortunately - and interestingly enough -, he might be one of the easier cases among all the Chosen Children, because he has very consistent themes and motifs going on, so let's get this on step by step:

Adventure (+ Our War Game), age 11/12:

Even though the kids do not change clothes very often throughout the series, we can still find a few of the aforementioned "themes and motifs" for Yamato here: Starting with his signature sleeveless/turtleneck shirt in Adventure, his favourite - and thus associated - colour appears to be green and since he seems to prefer overall dark colours, you will usually (but not exclusively) see him wear darker shades. This can also be observed during OWG, where he wears a dark brown button-down shirt - which will turn out to be a common theme in addition to dark jeans or pants. Plus, unlike most of the other male characters, you will almost NEVER see him wear sneakers, because he's clearly a "boots" kind of guy.

As for his hair, this is where the classic "cool boy haircut" with the spikes and side fringe found its origins (which is also pretty close to how his father wears his hair).

02 (+ Diablomon Strikes Back), age 14/15:

This is where the "rockstar phase" begins and even though green doesn't make an appearance here, he consistently sticks to dark colours - mostly blacks and browns - as well as complementing boots, button-downs or turtlenecks. Despite him being the leader of his own band, his style is something I would personally describe as very neat, almost unagitated and thus more in line with his introverted side - which can be interpreted as him trying to be somewhat lowkey, not intending to attract too much attention. But at the same time, his style (= dark clothes in contrast to his blond hair) naturally creates a sense of "mysterious aloofness" (as it may be described by his fans, such as Jun. While it is also never explicitly stated, we know that he has European/French genes from his mother's side, so this may or may not add to his visual appearance easily attracting attention and popularity).

In terms of his school uniform, he doesn't go all out on being extravagant either, but instead chooses "the middle ground" between Taichi's "loose and casual" and Koushirou's "neat and correct" style by wearing the blazer closed but leaving out the tie. It's still overall very correct, with a hue of "coolness".

Diablomon Strikes Back then adds two more motifs for him, implying him becoming more and more comfortable growing into "his own": From this point on, we will see him wear little accessories like rings and necklaces - which, as we will see later, may even have a link to Gabumon one way or another. He also starts to wear more layers from now on, such as (college or leather) jackets - which will become more prominent later.

The "cool boy haircut" has grown out a little, softening the spikes. Not only could this be seen as him "differentiating" himself a little from his father (which is a common interpretation of the hairstyle change); it also gives him more of a J-pop-star vibe and makes him appear more "chill" in general (whereas I can only assume he was considered more of a "surfer boy" in Western fandoms back in the day).

Tri, age 17:

While he has cut his (still softened) hair a little bit shorter again, he overall maintains an effortlessly "casual but cool" style: Not only have the green tones returned to his wardrobe, the boots are also still there (even if they're not visible on the picture evidence). The ensemble is usually complimented by elements from his aforementioned DSB/"rockstar" phase: We see him wearing necklaces and chains in his everyday outfits, simple (black, green or even white) shirts with or without prints and with or without cardigans or jackets - and we can also tell he has gotten generally more daring (and a little less "tame") by wearing ripped jeans.

His school uniform is still more or less "neat", but even though he has added the tie, he wears everything more loosely than he did in 02. For his Summer school uniform, he also chooses to wear a long-sleeved shirt rolled up - instead of the short-sleeved ones all the other male characters wear.

Kizuna, age 22:

As a young adult, he basically tries to marry the majority of his previously mentioned themes into one consistent style: His signature cool-boy hairstyle - neat, short, spiky - has returned as well as the dark greens and the boots. In general, his colour palette consists of green, black and white - with an interesting case of grey in the middle of the movie. Similarly to Taichi, this may or may not have some special implications: Taichi wears an asymmetrical shirt, black on the left (covering his "heart"), blue (his favourite colour) and white on the right ("light") side, indicating his insecurities in terms of what's the right path. In contrast, Takeru wears all of his associated colours (VERY colourful green shades), as does Koushirou (orange), while also wearing a pristine white shirt - they're both not at risk of losing their partners, they're both on the light side, whereas Yamato and Taichi are completely at a loss. Yamato, who wears a grey button-down shirt, appears to be just as torn about his future and current situation as Taichi is, having abandoned his beloved music and hesitantly contemplating a future in the military. Which is also why he may wear a dog tag - and, as mentioned previously, this may also be a reminder of his bond to Gabumon after all. (And on a lovely little side note, I assume that Takeru starts wearing necklaces at the time of The Beginning to signify his own bond to Yamato.)

In terms of layers, we see him wear leather jackets, blazers and vests, everything being mostly "neat and correct" (again), with the same sense of effortless coolness he always had (but, if you wanna follow Kizuna's course of action, it may also display a sense of insecurity that leads him to choose style cues from the past over trying to move forward. I do like his Kizuna style and there is nothing wrong with returning to what you are familiar with, especially because most of it is definitely and consistently "him" - but that interpretation would also be in line with Kizuna's message, "forcing" oneself to conform and be a responsible adult.) One interesting addition are the red (!) glasses he wears during lectures, which is a colour we haven't seen him consider before. (Since it's "red", a possible interpretation could be that Sora gifted it to him - Kizuna is very persistent with its colours after all.)

Beyond, ???

Now things are getting a little more tricky, because we do not exactly know how old Yamato is supposed to be in these sketches - since this could be Kakudou's interpretation of post 02/DSB!Yamato as well as him being somewhere in his later 20's, also according to Kakudou's vision. I've tried to put my thoughts on this style into words here already, but to summarize it very quickly here: It's interesting that we see the grown-out 02 haircut again, as well as the earring - if we follow my interpretation of 02!Yamato, this only means that he has grown even more comfortable with himself to dress and present himself as less neat and also "less spiky" (= less aggressive in personality).

The epilogue, approximately age 39:

Last but not least, the epilogue shows our astronaut choosing the same colour palette and style cues 02!Yamato had already been famous for: Blacks and browns, glimpses of beige, a turtleneck and a (leather) jacket. His hairstyle is back to being the exact same as his father's - and as for now, there is not a lot to say about that without having the full context of where "Beyond" may eventually lead him in this timeline.

So my final verdict is: As mentioned at the beginning of this post, most of Yamato's style choices have a coherent theme: cool, effortless, mostly unagitated, sophisticated and tame, but with a glimpse of growing "rebellion". You can tell he confidently knows his favourite colours - mostly dark greens, black and brown with softening tints of grey, beige and white. He loves his (short or no-sleeved) shirts (with or without print), button-downs, turtlenecks and boots - and sometimes even dares to put on something like leather jackets or vests over those. What he appears to be a little unsure about is the consistent usage of accessories - and his hairstyle.

While the dog tag may be one of his more prominent features at this point (potentially signifying his bond with Gabumon), the state of his hair may or may not indicate how comfortable he is with his identity. Next to Taichi and Sora - and due to him still dealing with the aftermath of his parents' divorce -, he is the one who struggles the most with where he sees himself in the future. We know he has a high sense of responsibility (especially for those he cares about) and tries to find rational solutions, but may let his emotions get the best of him sometimes, hindering communication, so that may be where the inconsistencies stem from. While his clothing style is mostly tame and neat, indicating his wish for order, it has these little moments of (emotional) "rebellion" in it at times; rings, necklaces, ripped jeans - all things he tried out at some point, but doesn't seem to be 100% sure of, since he doesn't consistently wear them. Whether that's because he feels like he has to conform and fit into society as he grows older, abandoning music because it's not a "feasible career" - or simply feels more comfortable wearing his signature haircut (and "what he already knows") once again. One could also interpret his return to his old hairstyle as a sign that he may have grown closer to his father, thus feeling more comfortable "merging" all these style elements and finding a middle ground, slowly but steadily - but whether or not that is true, I am not able to tell.

april 4th 2022 angelico ent released CHERRY SORA of VIVID’s breakout debut album. the debut was considered the most anticipated and most successful solo debut of the year , with her title track TIE A CHERRY being a smash hit. every track on the album was written and produced by SORA alongside production partner DAYNA under their duo production name SODA. with tracks XAI and VELVET made with ex group mate and well known industry producer BLU. the title track was promoted alongside her intro for the album RAW ! and the b side RED MIND. the quality of production on each track is a characteristic which SODA and BLU have become known for.

the intro track RAW opens the album with fierceness. although it may be the shortest of the tracks it still leaves an impact with its message “i just wanna be raw” as the opening track it lets the listener know who sora is as an artist; raw. which ties in perfectly with her title track TIE A CHERRY

the title track TIE A CHERRY is a song that displays sora unapologetic individualism and self-love: not only praising herself visually but also as an artist as she boldly claims that there is no one beating her. the track is written by sora but produced by vivid subunit soda. it builds an atmosphere of freedom with a musical blend of hip-hop and bass to create a fun and engaging sound that leaves the listener feeling good and wanting to shake ass along to it. the instrumental is impressive, to say the least. with catchy filtered vocals and harmonies to exciting synths that compliment the songs bouncy and hard hitting 808’s and bass on the bottom end.

CHERRY is a hip-hop-centered album that showcases sora’s multiple skills along with her expert lyricism. lee manages to mix her powerful raps with sharp digs which we see in BITCHY and NOT FRIENDLY with her signature effortlessly cool yet hard-hitting style , along side her soulful introspective track BETTER which explores how sora hopes that a lover feels better having given up on their relationship suddenly . another slower and sensitive vocal driven track is MY PROBLEM which speaks on a codependent relationship that was almost doomed from the start. tracks such as NEED TO KNOW and XAI mix both her vocals and rap perfectly with a subtle sex appeal and swag. sora herself explained she wanted the album to embody herself ; fun - seen in RED MIND- and sexy- seen in VELVET- with a hint of seriousness as she explores herself.

we see this serious side in the outro FUN GIRL. it is a stripped one take track where sora is playing the guitar and singing about how she struggles to view herself as someone worth love but also acknowledges that she shouldn’t internalize rejection and understanding that it’s could also come from the other persons flaws and not purely her own. her confidence may come across as cocky and undesirable due to societies expectations of woman. she has faced backlash in korean media for being openly feminist and speaking out of gender equality. lee ends the album repeating “life’s unfair’’. this sentiment reflects the overall message of the album, life is hard yet it’s fun. as her melody and lyrics highlight what a painful reality it is.it as a deeply raw and honest track that exposes sora’s inner most worries and thoughts.

there are multiple tracks that are definite anthems and fun listens as well as sexier tracks , every single one deserves just as much attention as the next. soras authentic style and fun energy that she brings on her debut album cannot go unnoticed. with her being album to create this on her debut it definitely definitely provides a framework for her upcoming releases leaving us all excited for what’s to come.

SORA did a special promotional solo press concert where she performed every track

at her first win other VIVID members came out and celebrated with her just like they did for DAYNA the year before ! sora was crying as the members mainly sang along and did the choreography. SISI and LEO picked her up during the bridge as she rapped along and wiped her tears. it was a fun and emotional moment that went viral

SORA’S visuals and aesthetic for the era was a hit not only among brites but among the general public as well. her skunk hair sparked a trend amongst idols that hair with many sporting the look later on. although she was not the first to wear it, she definitely popularized it.

a clip of sora and her back up dancer arin tweaking and sling ass during an encore went viral with good and bad reviews. fans were happy to see sora happy and couldn’t deny her skills but others called it tasteless and trashy labeling her as a whore. she didn’t care lmao.

speculation about who her tracks were about was a huge talking point with many noticing how fin was featured less on her instagram in recent months.

sora filmed multiple Vtalk episodes during her promotions which aired weekly on the groups youtube. it documented silly backstage moments and rehearsals. the other members also recorded some clips when they came to watch her performances. because she was on her own her personality was able to shine more and fans posted clips and edits on social media which gained a lot of attention from non fans.

Underground, Pt. 1

Introduction to the Genii. Lots of lovely interaction in this episode, as Genii-episodes are often real McSheppy.

In Underground (S01E08), we return to the theme of food, hunger, and Sheppard observing McKay like a hungry hungry hippo hawk. The expedition is running out of food, which is why they have to start meeting new people. It begins at a team-meeting where Sheppard has, in fact, started leaning on his hands so that he can keep doing the same thing he has apparently been doing for a good while here once the episode starts: watching McKay.

He can't look away. He is not even blinking. Oh, he tries to. He just can't. He is gazing at McKay through this entire meeting.

Eleven is an interesting number in this context. If someone wanted to make a comical exaggeration, ten cups or a dozen cups would make sense. Eleven is oddly specific which means that it's the result of actually counting the cups he's been drinking, it's the result of observation. Also, while he chastises Rodney, it doesn't sound so much annoyed as it does tender. The kind of 'Oh, you' that's born out of familiarity and fondness. Like he's fascinated by his observation that the other man is drinking a lot of coffee and not like he's drinking them all to ruin. The way Sheppard looks at him is contrasted by Teyla, who looks at McKay eating as though she's put off, even disgusted. That's sure not what Sheppard was doing. We can also contrast it with Ford, who is completely neutral. Also not Sheppard.

When Sheppard says "I guess it's always good to get to know your neighbours" in this weird sing-song cadence, he looks at McKay while he's doing it. He takes one quick glance at Weir, the leader of the expedition and chair of this meeting, but otherwise he is entirely focused on the man stuffing his mouth on the mirror opposite side of the table from him.

Have you been getting to know your new neighbour, Major? This man has absolutely no chill.

Once they reach the Genii homeworld, they come across what they think is a farmer and her beautiful daughter. The farmer is quick to point out that his daughter is betrothed, as though suspecting Sheppard might have designs for her. But the thing is, he actually expressed no interest in this woman what so ever. He doesn't even (jump to) introduce himself which is something we see characters do time and again when we're meant to believe they are interested in a hot specimen of the opposite sex variety. He's not even looking at her, really only makes eye contact with the father and briefly at that. Again, contrasted with Teyla who is beaming at the daughter, Sheppard is extremely nonchalant. If anything, he seems confused that the father would even think that. He even explicitly says that he's not interested:

Tyrus: My daughter, Sora. Sheppard: You must be very proud. Tyrus: She's betrothed. Sheppard: I wasn't hitting on your daughter. I just thought...

You'd be polite? Try to make a good first impression? Compliment you, my dude, by way of the fruit of your loins, the exceptionally good-looking Farmer Joe that you are?

Where Ford side-eyes the farmer as they part ways with him, Sheppard leaves him with a smile and a nod. Clearly, he's on what he later calls his "best behaviour".

But the father wasn't the only one worried about Sheppard's disposition toward the young beauty. When Sheppard turns to Teyla to comment that "They look friendly enough" in a completely neutral way, he gets this worried, searching look from McKay:

Beautiful young woman. Blonde. McKay has zero interest because none of the other guys show interest. He makes sure that Sheppard has no interest, here. Satisfied that this is not the case, McKay himself then proceeds to have no interest. Contrast all of this with the introduction of Perna in the previous episode, Poisoning the Well (S01E06). My guy has so little interest in women he needs other guys to point out when someone is hot.

As they part, we get another private moment between Sheppard and McKay. The fact that as soon as they depart, McKay seeks Sheppard out to make this conspiratorial remark shows us that they are in the process of creating their own little world together. This is also one of the first examples of what McKay will later call "the kidding," which is to say, Sheppard saying counterfactual things just to wind him up.

McKay: Maybe we should offer a sense of humour in trade. Sheppard: Sure. They can have yours. McKay: Oh, please, my side. You slay me. Sheppard: I'm thinking about it.

Again, he uses this sing-song voice to say it. Obviously, he's not literally thinking about slaying McKay. He sure does seem to love teasing the guy, though. I mean, later on (in Sateda, S03E04) he confesses he sometimes takes actual time to think up of ways to tease him about something. Of course, we could alternatively interpret Sheppard as saying that he's thinking about McKay's side here (that is, he often says things that he means literally and people merely interpret in their own way due to this tone of voice) but really he seems to be thinking about the entire package, pretty much all of the time.

But what's curious is that Sheppard actually kind of complimented McKay here, in a back-handed way. He's saying that unlike these people, the man does have a sense of humour, and that his sense of humour is something they could trade with. McKay is quick to interpret it as an insult but for a jibe, it's really weird. "Hey my man, you're much better company than these people." And the episode does go out of its way to show us that Sheppard really does enjoy his company.

The feeling is mutual since, as soon as he's faced with the choice of attending a harvest ceremony (where, one presumes, one might find a plethora of rosy-cheeked maidens) or following the Major, he opts to go back (alone) with Sheppard. Also notable is that while Sheppard orders Ford to stay behind, McKay gets to make his own decision about what to do and where to go.

How would he confess? Probably something along those lines:

"Don't make me worry that much ffs"

"I don't like bread"

"Moon is pretty tonight" (whoever gets the reference is a chad)

"D. will bring the storm"

"If he loses, I will die with him"

"Thanks, you showed me something interesting"

"Don't shout, you idiot!"

What, you don't think those are suitable lines for confessing his feelings? But each of them carried such emotional weight, it was definitely heavier than a love confession! Anyway, my point is, he probably wouldn't do it directly. It would depend on the context of the situation and be very vague, but his feelings would get across. He might finally do the "I love you" when he's literally seconds from dying just to spare himself having to live on with all the drama and cheesiness afterwards. I beg you not the "thanks for loving me" line, I had enough heartbreak the first time. Or not, who knows :D Considering the confession is indirect, he wouldn't wait for the "right moment" or make any preperations for romantic mood or place. He's a natural like that. I'm so funny, I know.

A date with Trafalgar Law. Well, it depends who you are in that scenario. But overall I think he wouldn't call it a date, only in a hindsight, and just to mess with you, like "what else it could have been", meanwhile denying it every second when the date is actually happening. What a troll. But he would definitely spoil his significant other to no end. And I mean it when I say to no end. Let's assume you like Harry Potter, he would take you to Universal Studios Harry Potter theme park just so you both can drink butterbeer while walking around Diagon Alley set, even if he had to travel half a globe for it. Yes, just for a freaking date. That's the level of dedication we're talking about. His pampering knows no limits, you might actually at some point try to run away screaming. He wouldn't mind doing stuff that do not interest him in the slightest, as long as you're having fun, and he would make sure not to complain because he knows it's important for you.

He would know exactly what type of places, movies, food, presents etc. would make you happy without needing to ask you about it, because he's a good listener and is very observant. He actually likes to spoil people this way, but he would prefer for them not to know it comes from him. He might go as far as to tell you a blatant lie "Oh you dreamed of coming here? What a coincidence" while in reality he planned every minute of it. Don't expect a smile or a laugh though, if you get one smirk you might consider yourself lucky. Whispering sweet-nothings and other lovey-dovey talk is definitely out of question and it would make him actually cringe. You might sometimes hear a casual compliment though.

Occassionaly his partner might want to do something on the date that Law enjoys the most. I guess that means they're signing up for a "wandering aimlessly for days in the wild" date at that moment, good luck! He might not make you suffer through the tour of antique stores just so he can find some rare coins to collect (I do believe him to be considerate after all), but he might consider taking you with him to a Sora convention. It would be the highest honour. He will not cosplay though, he would be too embarrassed for that.

Law believes in equality so you're splitting bills half-half, no matter if you're a boy, a girl, or identify as something else. But when you run out of money he will protest, complain, and pay for you anyway, because he wants his partner to be happy. If you would lie that you don't have money just to be spoiled, he would pretend he doesn't know and would still "fall for it". Unless you're Luffy who never has any money or spends it in 5 seconds, then I guess Law is doomed to be penniless as the result of the date. He actually wouldn't mind and would accept his fate, but watch him wearing a sour face all the time.

He's surprisingly a traditional guy (his parents brought him up to be very decent), so don't expect a kiss before a third date lol. And even then he might just not do it anyway. If he's aroace like I tend to believe he is, good luck ever getting that kiss :D The date itself probably won't be very romantic, more like a friends going out, but is that really a bad thing? After all isn't the fact you both enjoy each other's company and wouldn't want to spend that time with anyone else enough to be happy?

Holding hands might happen from time to time, but only if you're in secluded place when no people are watching you. Considering touch is a big deal to him, that's the biggest intimacy you can expect out of any date with him.

Sometimes his reckless side might show up (or all the time, if you're freaking Luffy), and he would do some crazy shanenigans he would instantly regret, but after a while think back on and smile to himself about. But he only does those when provoked or dragged into someone's pace!

Would he initiate first-time sex? Definitely not! Again, if we go with my headcanon, he wouldn't even be interested much in sex in the first place. But let's assume he would be, he still would wait for the other person to initiate it, because again, his problematic relation to closeness and touch would definitely prevent him from asking for it, even if he would yearn for it badly. Especially the first time would be a big deal, because in his head he constantly expects people to reject him, even people close to him. Maybe by the third time he would try to show more reciprocation. Any form of intimacy definitely would mean a world to him simply because his partner isn't repulsed or rejecting him. Sadly it would prevent him from cuddles and constant contact, he would claim it's because he's not into that, but he would be just hiding his fears behind that lie. It would definitely take a lot of time and effort to get him any closer to opening up about it.

OK. I just think they’d share they football passion together and it would be cute? Besides the fact aesthetically they would look really pleasant together, they both also are fire themed. I’d like to see them playing together and if Taichi wants to join, why couldn’t he?

Still, among the googleheads, I think the one I would like to see interacting with Takuya is Marcus…? I want them to kill each other, yes?

Kouji: He’s kinda easy, because I really like that Cd cover where he stared at Yamato playing his harmonica, dreamy eyed. I know it’s kinda lame Kouji is being put with a loner wolf, so I’m taking a safe route, but I honestly can’t get rid of that image printed in my head. Hmmm someone else, someone else, idk. Help. Maybe he could meet Takeru? If he met Yamato, he would meet Takeru as well and Takeru has got a Patamon. Since Kouji was often seen getting Patamon’s attention in the original season, Takeru’s would bring him memories.

• Izumi: Of course, when it comes to your favs you have got ton of ideas. Ton. Let’s say I will write a little bonus down here for Junpei and Izumi, so, for now, I’ll just temporise ahhahah. Many pair Izumi with Miyako, but I would honestly be curious to see how a meeting between Ruki and Izumi would play. Once a friend of mine drew Izumi and Ruki collaborating in modelling together (Ruki was the photographer, Izumi was the model of the photoshoot), but I want to picture them together more because Seki Producer liked saying Izumi “is actually more similar to Ruki than Mimi”. How? At what extent? What did you mean, SekiP? We will never know imo, but maybe if Ruki and Izumi got to know each other…

• Junpei: OF COURSE, same identical tale as old as time like when it comes to Izumi. So many ideas for my boy, I’d make him even meet Taichi and I think they’d go along. During my Adventure 01 “rewatch”, I truly found myself spotting a piece of Junpei in so many characters ahaha. Taichi has got a scene in which he drives some kind of crane in a factory and Frontier’s episode 5, the one in which Junpei drives one as well, blatantly is a homage to that. Needless to say, Junpei has also got something in common with Jyou, whom he met in an official comic (during which Junpei doesn’t miss the chance to compliment Izumi in front of strangers and in her absence lmaoooo); moreover, in the first Frontier ending, Junpei reading his homework on the stairs is another clear homage to 01, to a scene focusing on Jyou, though I can’t recall which episode it was and I apologize.

Still, and I’ve already said it, I ABSOLUTELY want Junpei to meet Ruri. I want him to become envious of her little detective life and bugging her by sticking his nose in whatever digital mystery she’s on. The Great Detective Shibayama meets the fantastic Ririrun! I need to draw them *wants to explode*. Maybe Junpei could affect Ruri with his fantasies about owning a series, who knows.

Junpei would also so funny with Miyako, I swear. The 02 x Frontier pic did place them in a mirroring position and I just adore it lol. They can eat together while talking about their crush, even if Miyako does yell much more than Junpei lmao. Bingo. I think Junpei would admire her technological skills and would evolve in Bolgmon to gain maths intelligence lmao x 2.

• Tomoki: I have played the Takeru card and I don’t really care? Because I want Tonoki to join the Tamers younger kids for once, though we know nothing about Ai and Mako, and unfortunately about Shaochung as well. But ehy, we can come up with headcanons and make these babies have fun. If Impmon acts as a bully like usual, Tomoki will have someone to deal with, though…

• Kouichi: He doesn’t give me any problem like his twin (good boy, Kouichi). Thanks to some people from this fandom, I have jumped on the boat of Kouichi and Hikari, not necessarily on a shipping level. I can see it. I can see Juri boarding as well, but Juri is way too hyperactive to Kouichi’s tastes imo. Hikari is a bit quieter and more considerate. He would put him at ease just like his twin does www.

• Bonus: Koumi x Junzumi

And here I can say : aren’t shippings ending with umi so beautiful at this point ?

Talking again about my 01 rewatch, I can confirm to myself early Mimi does remind me of Junpei a lot, which is a sacrilege but, ehm, seriously…???? I don’t blame some dude playing in their stories about Junpei being a Jyoumi son, because he’s really a mix of them. People usually like connecting Junpei with Koushiro (and I do too lol) because of the electric/thunder bug theme, but I also adore creating scenarios for Junpei and Mimi ahahah, two spoiled kids coming from rich families always complaining about needing to eat, sleep, getting disgusted so easily….Two needles stuck up your butt, speaking bluntly ahahha.

I have got a lot of ideas about Junzumi x Koumi . In my hcs Izumi will open a restaurant someday and I do believe Mimi would love visiting it. Then, she would invite Izumi to her cooking tv show and Junpei would stop underlining how wife is much better than this Mimi Tachikawa who has come from who knows where. Do you know my wife won two contests, is Gambero Rosso’s favourite guest, her restaurant received compliments from both Terramadre and Slowfood-

Fighter #09 - Luigi

- Luigi’s kinda scared of portrait paintings. He hates going past the 'Everyone Is Here' mural in the first floor hallway because he feels like Sora’s eyes are following him.

- He usually gets put on laundry duty. The laundry machines in the mansion are super high-tech with tons of random settings, so when Luigi first saw them, he got really confused. He nearly blew up the dryer twice trying to figure out which button started the wash.

- A history buff, Luigi has read every historical book he could find in the library.

- Back in the day, Luigi actually developed and sold his own energy drink. It was an instant hit, but then Waluigi convinced him to take a bad deal and he lost the rights to everything.

- His favorite chore to do around the mansion is vacuuming. He's had plenty of experience with a vacuum from both practical and impractical standpoints.

- He gets flustered when someone compliments him, especially if that someone is Daisy.

- Luigi is, without a doubt, the king of belly flops.

- He has a hidden talent for modeling. 

- He’s honestly surprised by how many fans he has. He thought Mario would get all the attention (not that he minds, he usually doesn’t like being in the spotlight anyway).

- Luigi still gets scared easily, but he’s built up a stronger fear tolerance thanks to the multiple haunted locations he's been in.

- He was bullied back in high school, but now those bullies look up to him.

- Roy ruthlessly teases him all the time, but it's all in good nature.

- He prefers his birthdays to be celebrated in a low-key way, but living in Smash Mansion makes that impossible.

- He used to have severe arachnophobia. Once, Roy captured a spider and dangled it in front of Luigi's face to freak him out. It worked, but it worked a little too well. Luigi jumped so high from being scared that his head hit the ceiling. He had to stay in bed for a couple days afterward. Roy ordered him some pizza as an apology. Since then, Luigi was able to overcome his fear of spiders.

- This poor guy has a lot of nightmares, as well as some confusing dreams. One of his strangest ones was of Incineroar chasing him on a treadmill. He has no idea what that was about.

- He takes melatonin gummies every night.

- Luigi sleepwalks a lot and usually wakes up to find himself outside.

- He formed a drama club with Robin, Chrom, Lucina, Hero, Zelda, Byleth, Marth, and Rosalina. They invited a couple more fighters to join, but those are still pending. They get together every week and perform plays with each other. They're really enthusiastic about it; they have homemade costumes and everything.

- He has a bowtie collection. Each one is for a different occasion, some of which are extremely specific. One of his favorites is a green one with white polka dots, which is worn only for eating pizza on a Thursday.

- Luigi is better at pinball than Waluigi. The scrawny villain refuses to admit it, but it's true.

- For their first date, Luigi and Daisy went strawberry picking.

- Luigi is a menace with a water gun during the summertime. Seriously, this dude has a sniper shot.

- He gets sunburns easily and could probably burn in fluorescent lighting if he tried hard enough. One time, Ridley wanted to be mean and see how long it took for him to get a sunburn. When Luigi wasn't looking, he snatched his sunscreen. It only took about ten minutes for Luigi to become as red as a lobster. Ridley was quite literally rolling on the floor, howling with laughter. For the rest of that week, he couldn't pass Luigi in the hallway without snickering.

- Luigi has sensitive skin, so he uses special soaps, creams, and lotions that are nice and delicate. All of them are scented with tea tree oil.

- Waluigi keeps trying to steal his girl. Bro thinks that if he just gives her a rose and a flashy smile, she'll fall head over heels with him. He believes that he has what the kids call "W Rizz". Luigi's secretly jealous because he thinks Waluigi has more charm than he does. Because of this, he’s kinda scared that Daisy will leave him, but in reality, he has nothing to worry about—Daisy loves this adorable dork. Besides, Waluigi's the type of guy to actually like the scent of Axe Body Spray. Him and Wario both.

- Inuit kisses (nose nuzzles) and boops on the nose are Luigi and Daisy's primary forms of affection.

- Mario constantly has to remind him that Diddy Kong is DK's nephew, not his son.

- He and Mario used to be paper boys when they were younger. Whenever Luigi sees a newspaper, he gets nostalgic.

- He cries every time he watches a sad movie.

- Luigi ate a bad shroom outside once and had the weirdest trip ever. He honestly doesn't remember much about it other than that it was weird. Diddy Kong found him lying outside muttering something about a big, black tumbleweed coming to take his soul.

- He can pop his shoulder out of his socket at will.

- He can also make fart noises with his armpit. Mario's been jealous of this since the third grade.

- Whenever he greets somebody, he uses finger guns.

- Whenever he takes a shower, he blasts music and quietly sings along.

- Bewear is his buddy. Luigi wants to hug him so badly, but doesn't want to get his spine crushed.

- He dropkicked Wario once for insulting Daisy. After that, he kept Daisy's name out of his mouth for good.

- His favorite song from the Smash soundtrack is the Luigi’s Mansion main theme from Ultimate. This went from a tune he sang when he was scared to a song he plays when he's about to get crafty on the battlefield.

Arc-V Month Day 8: The Regular- ah, Standard Show and Day 9:Light Across the Aether

Combining two prompts, as I'll be gushing about (among other parts) about the Standard arc. Hope that's fine, @arcvmonth

Anyway, Arc-V has a lot of positives (that tend to get washed by the hatejerk), but what I want all of us to appreciate is that this silly show...exists. Not only that, but the awesome way the staff managed to hype all of us up?

What do I mean by this? Let me put it this way. This is a show about a multidimensional war where each dimension is based on a previous Yugioh series, featuring Returning Characters, and every Summoning Type is used.

Now go back to the original trailer for Arc-V. Notice how there're some things missing. Namely? ALL OF THE ABOVE. We knew about Pendulum Summoning, we knew Yuya rode a hippo...and that's about it.

Marketing-wise maybe this wasn't the brightest move, but it's an example of something I love about early Arc-V. In the year of our lord, 2023, where crossovers are everywhere and meta-commentary is so overdone people do meta-commentary about meta-commentary, it's bewildering how Arc-V kept its cards close to its chest and drip-fed information about its plot to keep the audience interested.

All of Season 1 is like this. At first we only really see Pendulum Summoning. But as early as Episode 3, we get hints about the other Summoning Types, since LDS has courses on each one. But whatever, you may think. It's only an Easter Egg, right?

Then this little fella shows up.

Casually, this kid activates Polymerization like it's nothing. And it's not like Jack randomly Fusing in early 5D's, Sora's deck is clearly Fusion-focused. But if that's not enough, we then meet the LDS trio, who use Xyz, Fusion, and Synchro. AND THEN Reiji tops them all by using all three at once. And Pendulum.

It's easy to take it for granted now, but this was legit just such a "holy shit" moment back then. 5D's featured Fusion a few times, but it was mostly a Synchro Spam. And Zexal pretended Synchros didn't exist. So it was so exciting to know Arc-V would be different.

That would be cool enough, but then they went ahead and made it so that each Summoning Type was tied to a specific Dimension. And again, the war plot was dropped slowly but surely. We get introduced to Yuto, who not only looks like Yuya, but he mentions something about some "Academia". But hey, a GX reference, whatever. And then it keeps going. We learn about Shun, about Ruri. And it all culminates in Shun vs Sora, which... ok, everyone knows this duel is amazing, but it's not just about the duel itself being spectacular. It's about the confirmation that, yes, we really are doing this. That Action Field IS Heartland, Shun and Yuto are from there, and the Academia Sora belongs to is based on GX.

The most ambitious crossover in history is here. And all they told us at first is that Tomato-boy rides a hippo. What the fuck.

Speaking of hippo-ridah. Arc-V always gets the somewhat-backhanded compliment of being the most ambitious Yugioh series, a statement I agree with. However, this is generally just refers to the overall scope of the plot. Today, one aspect that can sometimes get neglected that I want to highlight is how daring their choice of protagonist is.

Yuya, my beloved. I don't wanna spend too much time about how much I love him, because I'm sure I'll do so in the future, but I want everyone to appreciate the writers' choice in creating him.

I'm gonna be blunt: Shonen fans can be dumb. They are not the kind to be receptive to protagonists who're not hyper-macho, badass types and who are prone to show weakness. Just look at the response characters like Shinji Ikari or Natsuki Subaru get. Now, I'm not saying Yuya is as well-written as those, but it shows that even if the writers had written him perfectly there was always going to be a crowd of people who were going to hate him.

So I gotta give a shout-out for creating what's easily the most complex Yugioh protag by a long shot. Other protags could be slotted into one of two categories: "Serious" (Yugi, Yusei), or "Upbeat" (Judai, Yuma). Meanwhile, from Episode 1, Yuya defies categorization. He plays the clown, making one think he'll fit right in with Judai and Yuma, before the show makes it clear that it's just a facade... but also it's not. He truly strives to be the fun-loving, charming Entertainer he projects, but his own struggles and feelings prevent him from succeeding. It's a fascinating struggle, and I'm impressed that a franchise like Yu-gi-oh would even attempt this. And then you throw in the demon inside of him, and the waters get even muddier.

Speaking of which...

Something Cool about the Zarc Duel

(Yeah, that's as good of a segue as you're getting. I just wanna talk about something cool I noticed.)

So. The Zarc-duel. It's a mixed bag. I'm of the opinion most of it is meh (not helped by it taking over a month to air), but that the first and final episodes of it are amazing. And I wanna talk about something cool about said last episode that doesn't get talked about enough.

So, as we know, Zarc, alongside Yuya, created Pendulum to get revenge. And yet he gets defeated the exact-same way, by Ray activating the En Cards...or does he? If you pay attention, you'll notice that the En Cards destroy monsters, negate their effects, and deal 600 damage for each Monster sent to the graveyard (very particular wording these uber-powerful cards). Zarc has 2800 LP, and five monsters affected. 600x5 means his Life Points naturally drop to... 1000?

Of course, that's because Odd Eyes and Zarc are Pendulum monsters, so they're sent to the Extra Deck. If they weren't, he'd have lost right there and then. And not only did Zarc's scheme prevent his defeat, it basically got him the duel: he still had Scales set, and Reira's field was empty, so nothing stops him from Pendulum Summoning Zarc and/or Odd Eyes, and attack for game. Thankfully, the Lancers' efforts managed to reach Yuya, and he regained control and basically Shining Drew Smile Universe. In a hint of irony, they even play Swing, Pendulum of Souls, a song usually reserved for Zarc possessing Yuya.

Speaking of which, Smile Universe's effect is really similar to that of the En Cards. I guess it's the Unofficial 5th one and Smiles are the 5th beauty of Nature.

On that note, one last thing.

The Title: Arc-V

Arc-V is a very peculiar name for a show. And what I love is that it has many meanings. Most straight-forwardly, it's the name of the machine Leo builds to fuse the Dimensions. And obviously, it refers to it being the fifth Yugioh series. But it also refers to both the arc of a Pendulum, as well as the shape of a smile (there's an ED literally called "ARC OF SMILE", in case you think I'm reading too deep into things). I love how well-crafted this show's symbolism and visual language is.

Anyway, this turned into a massive ramble. I'm just happy to talk about this silly show that's burned itself into my mind. Thanks for reading if you somehow made it this far.

Makoto (Hitsugi): “H-Hide? Who would do that and why?”

Subaru (Hitsugi): “Probably someone with loads of time on their hands, Ukki~!”

Makoto (Hitsugi): “I see. You realise there are so many people in this world with a lot of time on their hands when you watch videos on the internet, huh…”

“Well, I must be the person with the most time on their hands since I can watch videos forever without getting tired of them. Not that I actually have that much free time, though. It’s hard to stop once you start watching.”

Subaru (Hitsugi): “I like watching idol performances instead.”

“You sometimes share the ones that are pretty interesting with me, right? Like the one where they had wings attached to their backs and were flying through the air.”

Makoto (Hitsugi): “Oh, I was just simply impressed by their technology. I think they were promoting some sort of new product from a big company.”

Subaru (Hitsugi): “Yeah yeah, wasn’t it Eichi-senpai’s company?”

“The company’s name starts with H so I heard that video got heaps of views because people thought it was something perverted.”

Makoto (Hitsugi): “Humans sure can be fools sometimes…”

Yuuta (Hitsugi): “I’m surprised you guys can just keep on talking about random stuff in this eerie situation. Oh, it’s a compliment, actually.”

“The only person I can keep talking to without thinking about anything is my brother.”

Subaru (Hitsugi): “You’ve just gotta get used to it. You must devote yourself to it, Yuuta, my boy.”

Yuuta (Hitsugi): “What kind of character is that?”

“This might sound a bit condescending but ‘Trickstar’ is kinda like ‘2wink’s’ students, you know? We’re the ones above you!”

Subaru (Hitsugi): “Now that you mention it, you’re right. We’ve been on the decline recently, so maybe we should get ‘UNDEAD’ to train us again.”

Makoto (Hitsugi): “I don’t wanna bungee jump without a rope ever again, though.”

Mayoi (Hitsugi): “Hm? Umm…?”

Yuuta (Hitsugi): “? What’s wrong, Ayase-senpai? Please don’t stop~ It’s narrow here so I’ll get stuck!”

Mayoi (Hitsugi): “E-Err, umm, I have a feeling ‘Switch’s’ Sora-kyu– I mean, Sora-san is missing.”

Makoto (Hitsugi): “Huh? You’re right. W-Where did he go?”

Subaru (Hitsugi): “He’s probably over here! Listen, you can hear his ‘ha hi, fu, he, ho~!”

Yuuta (Hitsugi): “Yeah! That’s totally Sora-kun!”

Mayoi (Hitsugi): “Was there always a side path here…? Did it collapse due to an earthquake?”

“I-I’ll go take a look! Please don’t move from here, everyone!”

Subaru (Hitsugi): “Huh, how come? We can just all go together, right, Aya-chan?”

Mayoi (Hitsugi): “You mustn’t! Please promise me you won’t move an inch from here…!”

Makoto (Hitsugi): “O-Okay. Scary… It felt like Ayase-kun was an entirely different person just now.”

Sora (Hitsugi): “HaHa~♪ Guys~! Look at this! There’s a mysterious “colour” all over the place here.”

Mayoi (Hitsugi): “You mustn’t look! Come, let’s go back to where everyone is.”

Sora (Hitsugi): “Whaa, please don’t pull Sora like that~ Okay okay, Sora will listen…”

Mayoi (Hitsugi): “Are you all right? You didn’t put the droplets that had fallen into your mouth, did you?”

Sora (Hitsugi): “HiHi~...?”

Mayoi (Hitsugi): “The origins of the second of the Seven Mysteries – ‘The Blood-Vomiting Beast’ – comes from the groundwater that seeps out from the depths of the earth.”

The water is coloured red due to the high concentration of rust in it and it is harmless to living things but–”

Sora (Hitsugi): “HuHu~? People saw animals with red mouths or saw them throwing up the water, so they made a mistake and thought the animals were throwing up blood?”

“Is that the truth behind the second of the Seven Mysteries, ‘The Blood-Vomiting Beast’?”

Mayoi (Hitsugi): “Yes! That red water is, umm, very dirty so whatever you do, please don’t drink it! Once we leave this place, please make sure to rinse your mouth!”

Sora (Hitsugi): “Okay…? Sora always washes his hands and rinses his mouth when he goes home, though~?”

Mayoi (Hitsugi): “Good boy! Let’s go back, then! Come, quickly now!”

Sora (Hitsugi): “Onii-san~ What’s that door? It feels like… someone’s behind it?”

Mayoi (Hitsugi): “It’s all in your imagination! Just who on earth would be down here underground!?”

Sora (Hitsugi): “But, I can hear something? It sounds like a really pretty chorus of people…?”

Hitsugi: Sorry for making you wait~☆

Tomoya: …………!?

Hitsugi: ? What’s wrong, Mashiro-san?

Tomoya: N-No, nothing. Sorry for making you run and get that for me.

Hitsugi: It’s fine~ It’s my job, after all!

Tomoya: Yeah. Our strengths consist of having a strong group of veterans and a good roster of idols. But when it comes to work that’s also a school event, we’re falling a bit behind.

chara’s reviews: hirogaru sky precure ໒꒱ episode 1 review

synopsis princess elle has been kidnapped from sky land. while trying to save her, sora harewataru jumps into a mysterious portal and lands in sorashido city, meeting mashiro nijigaoko and becoming pretty cute of the sky, cure sky.

intro a new february marks a new pretty cure season! ever since the first leaks, i’ve been ecstatic for this season. it’s a season of firsts (officially at least)! first non pink coded main cure, first main team male cure, first adult main team cure, and first…fart joke. even so, this 20th anniversary season has so much to look forward to. let’s see how the first episode holds up as an introduction to this new season!

hirogaru’s first episode starts with an introduction of the alternate place in the series; akin to the grand ocean in tropre and the garden of life in futari wa. skyland, although the name sounding like a trampoline place, is portrayed as a world in the clouds. having a blue and pink motif (clouds & sky blue; land itself pink), it fits perfectly with the main colors of the season. skyland itself actually reminds me a lot of my little pony, specifically the g3 styles. i really adore the art direction with the settings already!

we are introduced to sora who is flying on a bird, speaking about her goal to be a hero. get ready for that to be mentioned a lot. even in the first few seconds of introduction, sora’s character is established greatly. she’s a young athletic girl who dreams of being a hero! i want to also point out that i actually love her voice. akira-san does a great more tomboyish voice for the main character, something we haven’t seen in a few years.

it seems that sora is on her way to skyland for princess elle’s birthday! that means this episode takes place on march 12th in the universe. the world building for skyland is great honestly. from the few images we see, we can be able to tell a few things about it:

these bird creatures (like the one sora is flying on) seem to have a huge play in the society. maybe something to do with the economy? pets/companions? or just living amongst them?

royalty is especially important to them! they are celebrating princess elle and obviously there’s a giant castle. it’s clearly a kingdom

technology seems to be not as advanced as in the real world; shown later as well when sora gets there

the fashion style is definitely fantasy/medieval esque as it seems to be a lot of simple outfits and things of the sort

finishing our first look at skyland, we are then shown the royalty of this kingdom…including our baby of the season, elle-chan! her appearance is much better than her splash art. by a lot. many people were wary of another precure baby which is fair, but as you can see later on, i actually love her. So Far. elle and her parents- the king and queen of skyland- are on the castle, and her parents are spouting cheesy compliments at each other.

i actually do not like the king and queen’s designs. like at all. although the setting design i adore and the animation so far is beautiful, i can’t help but feel like these two characters seem really out of place compared to the rest. if they had a similar blue, pink and white motif i would have been able to accept them as being fit here but they just… seem really weird. the colors and the clothing design mostly. plus they do not look similar to elle at all. however, i must say i love how the king has a similar cape to cure sky! i also will give props for the wing on the queen’s hat and the collars they have, similar to the cure designs. i guess i just never usually liked the royalty/other (good) world character designs

below is an extremely extremely rough idea of wha4t colors i thought would be better with the queen at least. far too lazy to do the king as you can see from how rough this is in the first place but i think it gets the point across. i just think the colors they used are way too far from the overall feel of skyland and this season. would’ve just liked to see lighter colors!

anyhow, while celebrating, the evil big mean appears out of a pig costume. out come! another pig! wow! i know a big chunk of this has been about my nitpicks on designs but well, be prepared for another. the first villain introduced this season is kabaton, a purple pig with a mohawk and a circular body. he mockingly wishes elle-chan a happy birthday and throws a purple smile bomb.

it seems we’re back to animal/monster villains. i don’t really have any problem with that in theory, but this design so far is just…? i don’t like it. the pink sorta style would work well if it wasn’t for the fact that this character is portrayed as being like some disgusting pig (unsurprising that they made him a pig). i just really am not looking forward to seeing him a lot. i’d much rather go back to that lobster guy from tropre or even just a humanoid buffy big guy instead of a pig

also right now, we don’t really know the motivations for these villains. of course, that’s to be explained later, but i actually like that there’s some sense of mystery. usually exposition is given right at the beginning and it feels a bit like hand holding. but here this pig just REALLY wants to kidnap this baby. i hope they further explore that later!

with her main character senses, sora is able to tell something is wrong. skyland and princess elle are under attack! sora’s determination and confidence is present once again as she tells the reluctant bird to bring her to skyland so she can help. sora’s resolve to be a hero is something i really like since although of course every precure is strong, many have to learn to be strong. in sora’s case, her hero wish opens the doors to a character development of her learning to accept her not being exactly this hero girl that she wants to be, without the added development of getting used to her identity as a precure. it may also allow for one of those “getting your wish isn’t all it seemed to be” conflicts which i’m greatly interested in how it will handle

ITS OPENING TIME!! i feel like there’s so much to talk about with the opening that i can’t possibly put it in this post in good conscience. instead, i’ll try to make a separate analysis post sometime soon. so try to look forward to that if i get the time!

for now, we’re back to elle-chan’s kidnapping. trapped in an orb, she spends a good portion of the episode crying. it doesn’t really bother me at all mostly because yes i would also be crying if i was being kidnapped. but look at this stupid baby face. she’s just too cute to call annoying

we have a gag about kabaton stealing some apples and although i may just be overreacting i really hope that food association doesn’t continue even if it’s little because well. having a pig just like food and seemingly be gross is a bad look. but we will get to the gross part very soon

we have a really beautifully animated parkour sequence with sora. the animation in this part is seriously to die for. it really shows how much better they’ve gotten over the years. i especially just love this new style. even though it seems similar to all the other precures, the eyes are one of the defining traits for this style i’ve noticed. rounded eyelashes! the action sequence so far looks amazing- and this rooftop scene is proof of that

sora’s civilian outfit is really fitting of her athleticism shown in this scene especially. the more frumpy and bigger shirt and pants are really good for her since it seems easier to move around in. it also does give a sort of medieval fantasy feel so she’s basically just a dnd tomboy. i love it

sora catches up to kabaton and uses her…leapfrog attack? confusing on how this girl could jump over a basically circle pig but it’s precure. what do i expect. she’s so silly she’s a runner she’s a track star

elle is free of her orb prison and she looks at sora for the first time and i think i have really fallen in love with this stupid baby. i think a lot of it comes down to her design. i mean let’s look at elle compared to like…hugtan…

kabaton demands to know sora’s name and promises to remember it. as of now, our only characteristics of kabaton are that he is snarky, very stereotypically a villain (swears to remembers his enemy’s names), and…he farts. for some reason, kabaton then shows his ass to sora and says “welcome to heaven” before ripping a fat one. this is the time i realized wow i really hate this. precure never seemed like one to fall to really weird toilet humor especially farts. it felt really out of place and uncomfortable and i genuinely will cry if this continues. i don’t wanna say it seems like fetishy but. it did. especially with “welcome to heaven”. first fart joke in the series…groundbreaking i suppose

through his fart attack, kabaton is able to get elle-chan back and opens a portal- supposedly to try to get to the undergu empire. hesitantly, sora follows into the portal. i guess that’s the way that we are going to explain sora’s sudden appearance in the human world- a portal! if that’s the case though, i’m interested on why undergu empire seems to be an entirely different world and is so keen on kidnapping elle-chan. very excited to see what goes on there...

sora says something about wanting to protect a crying child- that she would never abandon one. another example of her wish to be a hero! suddenly, kabaton hits a giant rock and lets go of elle-chan who floats to sora almost immediately. as this happens, sora lets go of a notepad with has something written in a different language

as she reunites with sora, elle-chan seems to be able to feel the mirage pen within sora. with that, she relaxes into her arms. what a surprise, she’s a precure! and another super big surprise, elle-chan is our fairy that awakens the precures! the two exit the portal and end up in the literal sky. with a scream, they fall down

we have a cute eyecatch of sora and mashiro holding the shiny powder fragrance and then laughing together. super cute!! 

the moment we get back to the episode, we’re greated to pretty holic. honestly, i’m not sure how i feel about pretty holic being a thing for every season after tropre. i know it’s all because it sells good and i truly do love the pretty holic themed art that happens due to it but it feels so forced sometimes and it makes the theme of the season kinda mess up because it makes it so like every season from tropre has an underlying theme of makeup. and it’s getting a little bit repetitive

the stationary shown is cute i suppose and of course if it is released physically i will definitely be buying. plus, at least this pretty holic seems to be fixed with the theme colors and motifs (wings, blue, pink, pastels, etc.) at least. mashiro’s grandmother also appears to be using the stationary for her note that she gives mashiro which is super cute

during the pretty holic and sorashido city introduction, we see a screen for a new arrival and a girl’s face. i wonder if this is maybe a character in the future? maybe cure butterfly’s civilian form. who knows!

mashiro is introduced looking for ingredients for her grandmother. they are very strange including rose oil, a cinnamon stick, and a dried frog. it appears that mashiro’s grandmother is a witch or something along the sorts with magic. i think that there may be some lore about her being from sky land or another land of the sort. kind of like heartcatch. i really love all the callbacks to things they’ve already done. it’s sweet for the 20th season

while ruminating over where she will get these silly ingredients, sora’s notebook falls from the sky and soon, sora herself. oh how i’ve missed people falling from the skies in precure series. it is truly the most amazing trope. fortunately, before the two become splattered, elle-chan floats them safely to the ground. mashiro is stunned. even with her introduction, i think i’ve fallen in love with her. she seems like a really interesting character- seems like a sweet but kind of easily shy and overwhelmed girl

sora is immediately entranced by the new technology in this place- especially the cars and green lights. she continues on and on about how everything is strange until mashiro “TIME OUT”s her. the two agree that this must be a dream and them talking about it being a dream is actually really fucking funny. they’re just like “oh hello dream girl how are you” “oh i am good other dream girl what is your dream name”

when sora notices mashiro has her notebook, she takes it back with a “thank you” and describes that the lettering on the notebook is sky script. it’s revealed to be her hero journal. it really identifies her as a kid when you think about it because it’s basically like the same sort of thing as a princess diary or something of the sort. i find it super duper cute

suddenly, kabaton appears and we are introduced to the summoning monster of the season. ranborg! i’m always looking forward to the nonsensical monster names and how silly they will be. this one of course is no disappointment. to be fair, it’d be pretty hard for it to be a dissapointment

we get a random quip about “curetube” which honestly made me laugh and then mashiro finally realizes she’s not actually dreaming. sora hands over elle to mashiro and tells her that she will fight, but mashiro wants them to run away. i really really like soras expression of being this tough girl but then she’s actually extremely scared and shaking when mashiro tries to keep her from fighting. i think it’s my favorite part of the episode entirely

we get a good one sided battle as sora tries to fight ranborg and kabaton. we also see that kabaton’s gem on his head is magic- maybe a reoccurring theme for the other villains we may see? when kabaton gets sora down, he tries to attack mashiro and take elle-chan but sora tells him the battle is between her and him- not mashiro

her notebook lands on the floor and kabaton takes it. we get our first look at her hero journal. it’s absolutely adorable and good character exposition. sora is a tomboy who wants to be a hero- that’s her dream

unfortunately, we didn’t get to see this hero journal in a good way. kabaton snorts at her dream and immediately rips up the journal. sora, still down from the attack, is powerless to do anything. it’s honestly amazing that i can feel so bad during this scene for a character i met like 13 minutes ago. it just shows how good precure is at developing characters

sora is thrown the empty notebook back at her and she stands up, showing her resolve to still fight. she promises elle-chan she’ll bring her back. after all, she would never abandon a crying child. elle-chan realizes that sora is a precure and we see a drawing of sora’s that resembles zakenna. sora would never back down. she’s a hero!

the mirage pen appears in front of sora and elle-chan screams to make her a elle-chan assigned precure. elle’s screaming actually made me laugh out loud because it’s just so stupid but i love her

ready to become a hero, cure sky is born with a beautiful transformation sequence. honestly...just watch it

the transformation is amazing and i love the transformation items too. i really want to buy the mirage pen and sky mirage and i hope i will be able to. i also especially like the part in the transformation where it’s the monochrome images of cure sky and then it turns to the colors. there’s also text in the background which is kind of surprising to me?!?! i didn’t expect that but it mirrors the website so it makes sense! i just love this transformation and i love cure sky. i really love her cape and just the way she’s supposed to be a hero (hero girl....hirogaru....haha)

we get the regular “precure figures out they can fly/jump really high” scene and then go on to cure sky’s fight. again, beautifully animated. i really don’t have much to say about the fight itself because it’s just regular precure fight but i love it of course because i love precure. here’s all i can say:

after defeating the ranborg, kabaton seems to be afraid of cure sky and runs away. cure sky detransforms and realizes that elle-chan and mashiro are still there, having watched her entire battle. sora seems worried for mashiro but thankfully she isn’t hurt

and then, we get the ending. mashiro asks if sora is a hero. and instead of answering, “yes of course i’m a hero” she says she doesn’t know. it seems my want for a development of her dream is probably going to happen. it’s such a little and sweet moment but i think it’s a good identifier of things that are yet to come. sora and mashiro’s relationship is growing steadily even in just one day. i can’t wait to see more

similarly, i think i will probably do a separate post for the ending but i love the dance and the song. it might be one of my favorite endings in precure- though of course nothing can beat shubidubi sweets time

overall, this episode is near perfect. my only genuine criticism comes from kabaton and the fart joke. i’m so excited for more of this series and can’t wait to see how it develops. next episode is going to be aired today so let’s hope this good show continues well!

Words scramble his thoughts for a moment, mind chewing, gnawing at the letters to make some, any sense of them. Sanji blinks from the easy smile, always teasing his mother's lips and looks at his hands.

What was the right thing to say? What did she want to hear? Surely it wasn't a trick , here in her wing Judge's mind games didn't tread …but.

Sanji feels silly that his first feeling is dread and next shame doubting his mother's love. All of which sits in his stomach as he looks at his hands, the vision of her simple reassurance too bright.

Dainty fingers slide into view and take his hands; still soft and well kept for reasons he can't name and squeeze. Dark eyes finally click up and meet a gentle grin, her blue eyes squinting closed like a purring cat.

"You look so serious." She giggles. "You're too handsome to get wrinkles already."

Curly brows tense up in a pout but Sanji finds them already pinched and huffs instead. Sora's teasing him like a child and he's pouting cause she's right.

"I just …" he trails off as fingers tense in her weak grasp. "Didn't know what to say." The truth for once. Knows if he speaks his doubt about deserving her affection it'll only serve to upset. Sanji can vividly see a wagging finger followed by an exhaustive list of what she loves about him. She'd done it before when he was much younger and the string of compliments had him short circuiting then.

Was he really handsome, and well read? Did he really have the eyes of a sweet cow and give good hugs? Surely she couldn't be happy to see him each time on top of thinking those things? The memory sends his heart into flutters. It was silly, she didn't mention his spotless mission history, quick thinking under fire or even broach duty and loyalty. No, mother liked his soft hands and him singing along to old North Blue folk songs which always made her laugh because he never got all the words right.

“You say: yes mother I know, I was foolish for thinking otherwise. You are so wise and beautiful. I look forward to my visits everyday.”

“I do.”

“You should.”

Sanji can’t stop the snorting laugh that erupts from his chest, Sora’s laughter mixing with his own.

Sora seems to still upon hearing Cloud say that ; he goes quieter, but does his best to focus on wiping down the counter top of the bar, since Barret and Tifa had asked them to clean up while the two went out to get some missions done. Sora had expected Cloud to go with them while he stayed behind, but to his surprise, Cloud had opted to stay back with Sora.

Is this why Cloud wanted to be alone with Sora? To say that to him? It felt so ... Sora's heart skipped a beat, somewhat. His hands felt tingly, stomach fluttery, and he hummed while staring down at the spot that he was wiping and re-wiping with the cloth.

He debated on what to do: to accept the compliment, or to do his best to bolster Cloud's confidence & ability in himself. After all, Sora couldn't stay here forever. As much as he'd like to: he had more travelling to do, other friends to meet, old friends to return back to as well. He'd just, kinda wanted to be ignorant to that for a while longer.

Sora wondered if he had been cruel without realizing. Not telling Cloud that eventually he'd need to leave. Maybe on some level, Sora hadn't wanted to leave either. It'd been so long since he'd had so much fun in one world, one universe, before. Of course he missed Kagome, Usagi, Shunsuke, Michiru, and everyone else, but the thought of leaving Cloud hurt really badly too.

What should Sora do? What could he do? He wished he could just, be everywhere, for everyone that needed him. His grip on that cloth increased, before he laid it down and gently wiped his wet palm against the front of a shirt that Cloud had let him borrow,

& then Sora's reaching out and holding onto Cloud's hand. The contact is gentle, yet warm: protective and understanding, Sora's fingers moving to shift along the top of Cloud's hand. His eyes flicked from Cloud's hand in his, up to Cloud's face with a patient smile,

"I promise I'll always be with you, Cloud," maybe not literally, but Sora knew he'd never truly be too far away. He could come and visit Cloud at any time. For right now, all Sora wanted to do was reassure Cloud that he wasn't going anywhere yet. The day he'd have to leave was still far-off, and they could tackle that once it got a bit closer.

sora and sisi of the global kpop girl group VIVID made their met gala debut at this years carpet. the pair were dressed by donatella versace in custom floral gowns. the pair wore individual outfits that worked together to convey the theme ‘garden of time’. both girls represent the same garden in different times with both showing the ways that flowers bloom and die over time.

the girls were a hit , with both of them appearing on multiple best dressed lists for their appearance. there was debate on their looks as they were seen as too literal. they still went viral for their stunning looks which brought in a lot of new fans and admirers. overall our girls ate that shit up !

“hello beautiful girls ! it’s honestly an honor to meet the two of you.” the interviewer gushed as sora and sisi made their way over to her.

sisi shook her head dramatically as she grabbed her own mic, “no the honour is ours! we can’t even believe we’re here.” sora nodded beside her. despite how fluent she had become she always felt a bit nervous and often let sisi take the reins.

“and this is your met debut right? how does it feel to finally be here tonight?”

sisi looked over at sora, subtly motivating her band mate to speak, “yes it is. it’s so amazing.” sisi couldn’t help but smile , “even at the fittings we were like,” the australian placed her hand over her mouth, in a high pitched tone she jokingly squealed, “ah oh my god!”

“oh wow pretty dress, wow pretty shoes!.” sora joined in. “hours and hours of fittings.” her band mate added both laughing along with the interviewer.

“speaking of dresses.” the interviewer took a long pause, dropping her jaw and gesturing to the girls. “you two look absolutely gorgeous!”sora and sisi laughed, thanking her profusely.

the camera panned from their heads to their toes , making sure to capture every detail of their looks. the interviewer continued to gush over them making both girls strike poses as they continued to giggle. sora lifted her arm, signaling for sisi to spin to show off her full look before doing the same gesture for sora to do the same thing.

“sisi i heard stray kids are making their debut as well tonight . and i hear your younger brother is actually a member of the group?” both sora and sisi nodded along with the interviewer , “how does it feel to be here together.”

“well i love felix i do.” she smiled before jokingly throwing her hair over her shoulder. “but we both know who’s gonna be the best dressed sibling tonight.” the other two couldn’t help but laugh at her as she continued to stare the camera down.

“definitely. felix do you hear that?“ the interviewer joked before closing off her short interview. “you’ve been so fun to talk too, you look amazing and i hope you enjoy your night ladies!”

the girls waved off excitedly before moving over to the next interview.

sisi’s look was inspired by a vibrant and blooming garden. her dress wraps her is sculpted pastel fabrics embellished with bunches of flowers. the flowers appear to continue grow up her legs as the decorated straps of her heels wrap upwards to her thighs. they finished off the look with her makeup although fairly simple had exaggerated blush that complimented the flowers placed in her slick back bun.

sora’s look represented the garden after time has passed and the flowers are not as vibrant as they once were. her dress depicts this by having sculpted flowers that only bloom at the top and bottom of the dress whilst being surrounded by overgrown ivy. unlike sisi’s garden sora’s does not grow up her legs with her shoes only having leaves. the look was topped off with a subtle makeup look that was decorated with large flower petals that go into her hair.

for the after party their look was still matching. this time the two were each a half of a silver flower and when they stood beside one another it created a full flower. they popped on some silver heels and made their way to the after party.

Someone has forced Kagehira to be a part of a shady business using virtual currency… If I said that, would you realise how serious that sounds?

They’re labelling it as virtual currency but it just sounds to me as if they’re trying to cover it up with flowery words. It’s anything far from simple.

If they’re making Kagehira determine their worth, then I must stop them at all costs.

Natsume: HmM. I did hear there was a server created within “SSVRS” where virtual currency is usED, but to think Mika-kun is involvED…

But if that’s the caSE, Shuu Nii-san, that sounds as if Mika-kun was the one who did it of his own volitiON.

I also have connections to the game company that developED “SSVRS”.

From my point of viEW, there’s nothing off about thEM – they’re a respectable compaNY.

They’re cautious about introducing virtual currenCY and they’ve only permitted the continued use of it within the “Test WorLD”.

No personnel from a dishonest company is involved and forcing Mika-kun to create thinGS.

Isn’t he just enjoying the process of making art and getting some monEY?

I think the one who introduced “SSVRS” to Mika-kun wAS Sora. But Sora didn’t tell him about the virtual currency out of ill intentioNS.

Let’s meet up with Sora and ask how Mika-kun got so inTO “SSVRS”.
