As far as I know, there has been NO public scandal surrounding David Berry's couple and FWIW he is still married, if only on paper, to Kristina Tesic, with strong rumors of separation running amok. It is also true that an Instagram pic of DB and a woman named Vera Lobik, a Senior Brand Manager for Viktor & Rolf based in Amsterdam, who just turned 30 last month, was first circulated by *urv about one year and a half ago.

But I have seen absolutely nothing about this very telling couple pic of Berry and Lobik, taken in GLA in August. And commented by Sammie Russell, Rik's girlfriend:

'Very supportive'...'private person who is not active on social media'...'they have not revealed any details about their wedding'. It surely rang some bells, Anon, as to the lengths a collective narrative would go, in order to project a consensual image for the casual viewers of the show. Also, take into account the fact that Berry and his soon to be (?) ex-wife have never been under the spotlight of a rabidly invested fanbase, as some other model/actress and her Night Media Manager whatever. Nowhere near - that allows more leeway, I think. And less hypocrisy, for sure. But the narrative for public consumption surely sounds eerily similar, even if we can reasonably think DB's former couple was anything but a convenient arrangement of sorts.

Vera Lobik doesn't hide anything about their new-ish couple and I have to say I like this quiet, organic honesty. After all, if the guy is separated, this is only their own business to mind - what are you, the Spanish Inquisition, to judge? No fan wars have been ignited over the obvious failure of his marriage. Nobody brought a paper as supreme argument of a happily shared life, when that was clearly not the case. And in the meanwhile, despite the very strong and LOUD evidence things are absolutely not so, Hello Magazine is still touting the marriage narrative, in this very recent copy/paste BS article (also featuring Tracula, go figure):

Possible flashbacks of Sophie’s childhood: There are two actors who follow each other on IG that could be playing the Penwood (Arthur Lee) and young Sophie (Chloe Park: please do not repost her social media). Rumored young Sophie also follows Shondaland and Bridgerton IGs.   

Sophie "Baek" background. Sophie has a Korean last name but we don't know if that's from her mother or something her dad made up. His last name was Gun (as far as I understand, also a Korean last name), but her stepsisters' last name is Chinese (Li).

Masquerade: Most likely in E1 because it's the season's first ball. It's the place where “attendees are encouraged to transform into whomever they choose”.

It seems that Benedict arrives late to the masquerade ball.

Benophie dance lesson is switched from the terrace to inside a gazebo. One of Sophie's gloves is *involved*. We still don't know how but probably as in the book (i.e. Cinderella's shoe). Sophie's dress is regency style. Benedict's costume is all black or dark brown.

Lake scene. Since both Yerin and Luke have already talked about this I think it's safe to say it will be the big talking point in the season's promo with the Masquerade.

There will be a Xiangqi game, a popular Chinese board game.

Benedict's bachelor place: Confirmed thanks to the designer's mood boards on Pinterest).

Kilmartin Estate in Scotland will also be featured (also from the designer's mood boards in Pinterest).

Both Li sisters will debut at the same time.

Rosamund is vain and Araminta's favorite. She tries to win Benedict, who is "the ton’s most eligible (if totally reluctant) bachelor".

Posy is kinder, chatty, overly friendly and socially embarrassing. According to Wei, Posy goes “on a nice journey” throughout the season. 

Leung: Araminta is fabulous, discerning, blunt and does "not respond well when anything -or anyone- threatens her standing in society". She is a "mother-slash-villain" and would “never call her evil because I adore her – I think she’s absolutely fabulous. She’s just heavily misunderstood”. She is also "feeling the pressure to get at least one of her girls married of" and “chemes to marry off one… to Benedict Bridgerton”.

Leung said Araminta’s costumes “are something else”.

Eloise, Francesca and John return to London, specifically to Bridgerton house.

According to Andoh, there is a garden party in E1 or E2. Not sure if Danbury is hosting that party.

The Demimonde is back. We have seen the Demimonde in Granville's parties in S1.

The story most likely begins in spring (social season's time) but there will be a time jump to autumn. There are leaked photos of the Bridgerton house with changing seasons. In an interview, Brownell mentioned how this will “open the Bridgerton world: this could mean the autumn, the countryside or the working class with a main character (or all three at the same time).”

Benedict will begin the season "aimless" and "loveless". Despite "his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, [he] is loathe to settle down"

Benedict’s fluidity will be explored.

Sophie doesn't know how to dance.

Ha: Sophie "craves and yearns for love despite all of her trauma and neglect". She is "a victim of tragic circumstances" and "has trouble trusting others". She has "been forced to work as a maid for one of the most demanding employers in the ton… [but] her resourcefulness helps her persevere".

Thompson: Benedict is "a man of many interests, and that’s great in some ways, and in some ways, though, can betray a sense of being lost or a little bit restless. And that goes quite deep… There is clearly something in him that’s not very comfortable, a bit scared or a bit worried about the idea of really committing to something. And that’s partly the struggle".

Sophie's decision to disguise herself in order to attend the masquerade will be "risky". This probably means they are following the part of the book where Araminta throws her out into the street after the ball.

We'll see a "shift" in Benedict when he meets a "mysterious lady in silver". He will "find himself on the hunt for Sophie".

Sophie is not "like the debutantes that usually populate Bridgerton". There is a "sincerity of her face".

Love at first sight trope confirmed: Sophie's decision also means that "both lives [hers and Benedicts] are forever changed" after the ball. Ha described it as "prismatic… when the light comes in and then it goes into a rainbow".

Ha: The season will be an "emotional tug of war, this kind of push and pull between what their hearts desire and what society desires for them".

Thompson: Also a "struggle between a proper old-school fairy tale -the romance of it- and the actual reality of the world… both are true. You have to hold both of them -the romance and the reality- in your hand. In its best version, 'true love' happens in the middle of that".

Sophie will struggle with her own mask because of the "battle of social status" or when she is "trying to hide her feelings from Benedict".

Upper and lower class trope: Confirmed. Ha: "It is the first time we really see the upper and lower class come together this season… My character is someone who constantly has her guard up. She… is always reminded of her place and doesn’t dream of more than her station as a maid. However, she is human after all, and craves that human-to-human love and connection. And it’s not until she meets Benedict that she slowly lets her guard down, bit by bit, and starts to create space to let love flow in for her."

Only two parts, nothing major, but I got as far as New Year's Day in game, counted 50 total, and decided to do two posts. (3) The save's first tragic death was Eliza Pancakes, mother of three and wife of Bob, and I love this picture of them for the starry sky alone, honestly.

(4) Master botanist Daisy with one of many oversized crops she grew in her garden over the years.

(5) Loved this shot of Daisy taking off in a rocket at GeekCon so much I used it to represent her changing careers to full-time astrobotanist with the Sims Aeronautical Space Agency (SpaceY).

(7) Uptown San Myshuno and the San Myshuno Bridge.

(8) Winter in Henford-on-Bagley, with pink sunsets in the sky and wild fox Pawbin Hood in his Sherwood Forest getup in the foreground.

(9) Mortimer Goth married his soulmate, Karl Nesbitt, at their penthouse in San Myshuno. Their guests arrived and had to comply with a new ordinance declaring 'We Wear Bags!' much to my disdain.

But I look back now and consider it one of the more iconic screenshots of the series so far.

(10) Heather checks out the view from Malcolm Landgraab's penthouse in San Myshuno while balancing a plate of midnight French Toast.

(11) The ferry dock from Cavalier Cove to Deadgrass Isle on an overcast day in Brindleton Bay.

(12) A pink sunset backdrop added perfection to this shot of romantic Holly Nesbitt dropping her new hubby, Kris Bell, for a passionate first kiss (totally autonomously).

(13) A wild love interest and his perfect dog appear from the Gallery and enter the game, and everyone rejoices. Especially Heather!

(14) Malcolm Landgraab finally steps up and takes an interest in his son while tired working mom Heather naps in her living room.

It's hard to remember this house before I added the stairs and the second floor, but there it is!

(15) Even with the clipping and the shabby apartment decor, I love this pose. Just feels like they're truly hungering for each other and that was my goal!

(16) I think the lighting is great, but something about seeing Everett so content and proud inside a Gallery build made me love this one even more!

(17) This one's the banner on my tumblr page. It's Heather's house with the second story addition from across Sable Square and the fall colours really do it.

(18) Conrad takes Gord to work with the magic of MCCC and the brilliance of deardiaryts4 💖

(19) Conrad comforting a guilt-stricken Heather after Ash's near-death accident/mod vs update glitch. I just love them.

(20) Alexander Goth nonchalantly walks in on Heather channeling spirits on his mother Bella's seance table, while Conrad worries like mad about his soulmate.

(21) Toddler Ash cuddling one of Queen Cupcake's kittens (who were soon rehomed because five cats was so many. I couldn't keep it up!) Also, King Tut's ghost makes an appearance by the patio door.

(22) Teenage Conrad posing with his parents near the midway in Copperdale - the last trip the Gordons took before his mother's death.

(23) Gord smells the Grim Reaper before Heather and Conrad, who called him on a Grimophone borrowed from Bella Goth, realize he's there.

I've always loved watching him wander up to people unprompted because he's a friendly dog, but sensing the Reaper was a whole new level of amazing.

(24) This Spooky Day photo of Ash with his dad, Malcolm, and stepmom, Miko, was too cute not to include.

Bonus (25) Heather learned she was expecting again after a miscarriage and I love the ultrasound machine cc.

No, Benedict, love IS finite and it begins and ends with Sophie Beckett

It's a matter of time before we get s4 Benophie announcement. I have so many posts planned, but I need to be 100% sure that Sophie will be Sophie before posting them.

Meanwhile, I want to discuss Benedict's line "love is NOT finite."

This is an example of how advice may only apply to certain people in specific circumstances. Luke Thompson explained it perfectly:

Eloise needed to hear this to understand that marriage wouldn't take Colin and Pen away from her.

However, the way he understands it has a totally different meaning. He takes his advice for himself to go and have a threesome with Tilley and Paul. Luke Thompson talked about it and said:

Good for him! But the thing is that the love Ben offers is still quite superficial. Like, yes, let him experiment and be free, but what Tilley tells him is that eventually, it gets tiring. And this is not even about monogamy. If both Paul and Tilley had asked him for exclusivity, he would have still rejected them. Benedict has deep commitment issues because he has never needed to commit to anything or anyone.

For him, the "love is not finite" will bring more problems than solutions.

The way I think it's going to go is:

Ben will meet the LIS, remember what Tilley taught him, and want to commit. But she will disappear.

Then he meets Sophie as a maid and he thinks he can marry the LIS AND keep Sophie as a mistress.

He will think that he has room enough for both of them, that he can love them both and won't have to choose and lose his freedom.

Sophie doesn't think the same. For her, love begins and ends with Benedict. That's it, there's no one else. So, if she can't have him fully, she would rather let him go (I have a post planned about this because Sophie is a queen of self-respect and self-love).

Moreover, he is the one getting multiple partners. I may be wrong, but book!Benedict never thinks of the possibility that the LIS found love elsewhere. And he never talks about letting Sophie be the mistress of other men. Mistresses could leave if they got a better offer, so how is Benedict so sure that it won't happen with Sophie.

Not to mention that his arrangement with Sophie and his wife will not be in equal positions. One is a wife, the other a mistress, a dirty secret kept hidden.

In AOFAG, Ben says this:

Remember what Tilley told him?

It's all fun until you develop feelings and suddenly, you want that person just for yourself.

I know I KNOW we're tired of love triangles, but frankly, Shonda loves them and Benophie might be the season where a bit of competition can do good.

Of course, there may be the LIS-Ben-Sophie triangle. But I want to give a mini heart attack to Ben when someone else shows interest in Sophie.

I don't want Sophie to have feelings for anyone else, THAT will upset me. But think of a moment when a vendor or a solicitor goes to No. 5 and sees Sophie, maybe even one of the footmen. He's taken by her beauty and Hyacinth notices. And since Hyacinth can't keep anything to herself, she brings it up during dinner or tea time and Ben goes pale.

And that's where he's going to understand what Tilley felt when she saw him with Paul.

I would even include a scene where LW or the family discusses Benedict dancing with some lady during a ball, Sophie hears and Ben teases her. Sophie's jealousy elevates his ego, but once he learns other men are looking at her, that will make him empathize with her.

my predictions for the bridgerton show and its remaining seasons/bridgerton siblings and their romance stories, the order we will see them all.

all the speculation surrounding who is going to be the next mc in bridgerton s4, and of course i am hoping and wanting it to be benedict. but i do think it actually will be him and not eloise.

yes, eloise’s story comes directly after polin’s, jump started by their engagement. but that is also due to the time jump polin’s story has so that pen and eloise are older and settled into the titles of “spinsters”. in s3 eloise is only in her 2nd season out, and would not be considered a spinster yet for another season or two. and also considering the fact that it would have just been another year (2 in total) since marina and philip got married, so her children would not be that old. in eloise and philip’s story, the children are a big component, and them still being toddlers/babies wouldn’t push the story like it should. (yes they could alter it, but i don’t see that happening).

as for benedict, his story offers the perfect time jump. if he were to meet sophie at the last ball at the end of s3, it would offer the perfect opportunity for a time jump between s3 and s4, perfect for ben to have been searching for his mystery woman during that time (and perfect for philip’s children to grow in time for eloise and his story).

it also brings in the build up we have seen so far for the cowper’s. cressida’s mother’s name is “araminta” and they would not have two characters of the same name, especially one uncommon as araminta (the same name of sophie’s stepmother in the books). and seeing a little more of a glimpse into cressida and her parents, even her father, it makes sense that they could be the ones connected to sophie. not to mention cressida being such a more complicated character than the audience had thought, honestly being a good mixture of rosamund and posy (sophie’s step sisters).

it also wouldn’t quite make sense for eloise to be next to have her romance. she is still young, and we have not seen any build up for her yet (the letters, the mysteriousness that leads to her running away to philip). meanwhile, we have seen constant build up for benedict, especially after his short talk with anthony in s3e1 where he mentions he liked stepping in as viscount to look over the estate while kanthony were in their honeymoon because it gave him purpose and something to do, the exact thing he seeks for in his own story and is delved deeper into then.

people will counter that eloise’s story starts because of polin’s engagement so it’s a direct correlation. and that’s how it was in the books, but i don’t think that’s how it will go in the show. i think her catalyst will be benedict getting married instead. her relationship with ben has shown to be closer and more pronounced than her other siblings, and with her and pen’s relationship still being unsteady and unsure what will happen at the end of s3, it doesn’t quite make sense for it to affect eloise as hugely as it does in the books. i think even polin’s engagement/marriage will spark eloise to start writing letters (i see polin travelling for awhile for their honeymoon, sparking eloise to want to write letters to pen and colin as much as she can, sparking further her writing to philip upon hearing of marina’s death (probably having heard of it before polin does so feeling a sense of responsibility to write to him in their stead)).

having benedict’s story come next will also we a good segway into seeing life outside of society. with eloise, francesca, hyacinth and gregory’s story not set majorily in the eyes of the ton and society, but benedict’s have some of both, being a good start to transitioning the show to that side of this world that has been built.

this way, s4 would still center around benedict and his romance with sophie, most likely after she has run away from her home (so we will probably see the flashbacks to those events throughout the season as it will have been a few years). and it also gives some time to build up eloise’s story more and maybe hearing of marina’s death, etc.

and of course, the remaining seasons will still continue in the order of the books. in s4 (benedict) and s5 (eloise), we will see more of francesca and john, them marrying, being introduced to michael, john’s death, and maybe a little bit of the separation between frannie and michael. which will lead to their story as s6, right after eloise and philip. and hyacinth and gregory will be older (and their actors as well so it won’t be inappropriate for them to have their own adult romance stories told). so for s7 and s8, they will step into their stories with gareth and lucy

you can see i have thought a lot about this and i appreciate anyone who has read this far lmao. but i would love to hear other people’s thoughts as well!!!

They totally wear each other's iconic colours. keefe wears silver jewelley, belts, accessories even if it doesnt fully suit him, and tam just has ice blue stuff on him. im talking. pins and badges, stickers and a pair of earrings.

Keefe is such a swiftie. not up for debate. he just is.

Keefe is bi, and i mean the most useless bisexual ever. he finger guns at everyone. he makes bi jokes. he has frog EVERYTHING. everyone is his type and he is everyones type,

tam is gay and ace. he's totally cool with keefe's flirty/dirty jokes because tam knows and consents to them.

They are the most. physically affectionate people ever. especially keefe with tam. im thinking. the classic boyfriend hug (i like to call it the partner hug), squeezing tam way too tight hugs, lifting tam up hugs. as well as kisses everywhere. like you could map out where keefe has kissed tam and its a whole adventure.

keefe and tam totally have a matching sweater and pj set. its something totally obnoxious and they love it.

THEY. HAVE. HAIRCARE. NIGHTS. these two shits totally exchange hair products and keefe is like "what even is this" and tam is all "this would take like give hours" "beauty takes time." "and money i see"

as for surnames, i cant imagine them taking their parents. especially tam. if at all, they'd both have sencen. but i feel they'd come up with their own surnames. maybe "sensong" or even "samsung" without knowing about the brand (sophie makes fun of them)

sophie was the first to accept them. shes been around humans and understands how hard coming out is because of her highschool classmates (there was 100% gay kids in her class). the rest of them are confused and are like "whats gay" but they support their friend (and learn a bit about them too.........)

sophie 100% takes them both to the forbidden cities after they come out. to buy pride pins. keefe is absolutely enamoured by them and tam is more worried about the environment.

on this fateful trip, keefe learns about different human aesthetics. and it becomes his everything. one day a vsco girl. one day emo. one day barbiecore.

keefe uses the word coquette frequently without knowing what it means. like hed just point and say "thats coquette" and its a crushed soda can.

tam eventually tells him about coquette. does not stop keefe.

tam and keefe are not picky eaters. these two mfs will guzzle anything down

but sophie and fitz are, so when they visit, they just eat mallowmelt. just. mallowment.

cassius didnt know about kam until their wedding day. and boy that was DRAMA

when kam wanted to get married, they went to the council, half of whom freaked out and half of whom applauded. it was a lot of battle, but eventually, a year later, the definition of marriage was changed in the law.

so obviously these two made headlines for being like. the first gay marriage in the lost cities. and lo and behold, cassius finds out.

hes so against it, but he doesnt show it to people in public. ofc, keefe got an angry imparter call from him that he laughed off.

Speaking of last names.... and I'm just totally spitballing here in the interest of getting some representation for something i wish I saw more of.....

My favorite headcanon about Sophie's name is that the reason she never admits to a "real name" is because after all of her different identities and all of her identity crises, being Sophie Devereaux is how she got the opportunity to really decide who she is and where she belongs, so she's decided Sophie Devereaux IS her real name.

Nate, meanwhile, his name is so very tied up in his history with his father, who he still loves but doesn't necessarily want to identify with. And when he got his dad a new identity, he put his mom's maiden name on it, wanting to tie both of them more to her history rather than the ignominious one that has Ford stamped on it.

When my parents got married, my mom felt a lot of loyalty to her family identity, and her family was really good at welcoming my dad in and making him part of the family too. My dad on his side had the opposite experience, his family was very controlling and very excluding and neither of them really wanted to continue to be part of that. So they decided what worked for them was, my dad took my mom's name. And you know what's fucked up? That was in the mid-eighties, and to this day I've only met like one other person whose parents did that, haven't ever met a M/F couple of my generation who did that, and definitely haven't ever seen it in media. It's weirdly isolating to never see representation of this one little thing. What the fuck is up with that? Is this one bit of patriarchy just THAT pervasive that the idea of just choosing whichever name works best for the couple is just unthinkable?

Right, so, I was talking about Leverage. Now I'm not saying Nate would ever in a million years be the one to SUGGEST it. And it would definitely take some arguing to come around to it. But I think in the end he'd acknowledge how awesome it would be to throw away the patriarchal demand to uphold a family tree he's trying to break away from, and instead take a completely fictitious name that became, through love, his wife's real name. I think it would be in the true spirit of building a found crime family based on what matters to them, their relationships to each other, and not having to do things the way they've been told they should.

Also I think they should force Sterling to officiate and have to be the one to stand up and say "I now pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Devereaux."

Anthony, like, you can see it, he's not even trying to hide it, he can and will be a meanie to his nemesis Kate who he also happens to love more than life itself, and to everyone if they don't fall in line. that's his whole mojo. People meet him and know at first glance that Anthony Bridgerton will not hesitate to use a gun if the occasion calls for it, because he outright intimidates people into submission. So good luck trying to mess with him or with his wife. He will end you. Have you seen him play against his wife in Pall Mall. He loves her, but he will not lose to this woman! She will one day respect him!. He's the boss of the house dammit (he's not, it's Kate, but she lets him think he is)

Colin is my favorite. because he looks nice and he looks friendly, and he would totally sink to the deepest of the low to have Penelope the moment he kissed her. This man is absolutely as unhinged as Anthony possibly more so, and he hides it so well, that everyone thinks he's the most charming brother. In fact the only person who knows how crazy Colin really is, has to be Penelope. Colin can talk his way out of anything (even a murder sentence. Do you ever wonder why nobody has ever sued Penelope for defamation? Because I sure don't), he's a people person. It's maddening, I want to convince people that Colin is the worst of the worst, and people are still like 'but he looks like such a harmless guy, just look at him eat that eclair' yeah! I know! that's how he got to Penelope! he was all cute, pretending to be nice and by the time she discovered he was the devil in disguise, he already had blackmail material on her!!. Men like Colin scare me, because I know he's bats*t but I just can't prove it.

Benedict and Gregory are just the same version of unhinged, just in a different font. Because they actually believed themselves to be the sane ones and then they met their true loves and you see that sanity? it went out the window.

Benedict used to think he was such a gentleman, who respected ladies and would never dishonor one, and guess what kind of obsessive idiot he turned into the moment Sophie said 'no' to his seduction tactics, be my mistress this, be my mistress that, Sophie ( and I) just knows Benedict's thought process alone should be landing him in jail instead of her, but he gets away with it, because apparently annoying her to death doesn't actually count as a crime. And the thing is, that she's the only one who triggers the crazy in Benedict, he's perfectly sane with everyone else, but it's her and only her who has him going all naked swimming in the lake, and obsessive paintings of her face plastered on all his sketchbooks (and his home, actually I'm pretty sure Benedict has a secret Lady in Silver shrine somewhere in My Cottage, that he took down before Sophie could find out about it) , not to mention his whole 'F society if I can't f Sophie' love at first sight excuse that somehow everyone swallows without questioning how crazy Benedict actually is.

And then he had to go teach that to Gregory! And Gregory was such a sweetheart, I actually thought he was going to make it to half of his book without going unhinged and then Lucy tells him the name of her fiancee and he goes ' wait, I know the guy, he's super gay, I can't let you marry him... ' my brother in the force what is your problem! Leave the girl alone. She's your friend, stop stalking her, she's got her own problems to deal with!! Lucy did nothing to deserve how Gregory randomly went from nice guy she was super supportive of in the courtship of her best friend, to kinda obsessive dude who won't leave her alone and wants to ruin her arranged marriage (let's ignore that said arranged marriage needed to be ruined and it might as well be by him). Guy was a green flag for Hermione but the moment he began fixating on Lucy, homegirl kinda saw the light and was like ' he's crazy, yup, totally mad.. about me sure, but this guy... He's never been told no in his life and it shows, it shows for miles'

And I just laugh so hard because people look at Anthony's fed up face and somehow think that he's the worst to fear in in the Bridgerton family. But nobody knows just how crazy his brothers are, except their wives. At this point Anthony's resting B face has to be some sort of defense mechanism because he had to grow up with Benedict and Colin while trying to raise Gregory. He may look intimidating but he's actually a reasonable man if you think about it. But his brothers, those three are just hiding their unhinged for wife energy a lot better. And you just don't want to know what kinda chaotic crazy thing they're capable of doing if they think it would impress Penelope, Sophie and Lucy

I love reading your notes as you read Your way through the novels. What has been anything new or of note this time round rereading TAC? Especially since I’m assuming he older thus have a different perspective?

oooh I love this question, and I have a lot of things to say, as an older reader. The first time I read TMI and TID, and TDA, I was a wee child. Now I'm rereading the books as a woman in her late 20s, who gained in maturity since her first read (I hope) 😭 I'm not going to talk much about TMI, because I still need to read City of HeavenlyFire (maybe I'll make a post about it), but be prepared for a lot of unpopular opinions XD

Here we go.

I hate Sebastian with all my heart, I don't believe in his redemption, HOWEVER, the way Jocelyn talked about him when he was a baby is crazy. I genuinely think 30% of why Sebastian is like that is because of Jocelyn. I understand that she thought he was dead, but her reactions to seeing him in CoLS, as if he was the worst thing ever IS CRAZY, like girl be for real, you were in the Circle.

Jace should have stayed a Lightwood. I understand he wants to belong to his family, blabla, but his real family is the Lightwoods, not the Herondale. Also, we have Kit now to take the name.

Alec in TMI was a child going through a lot. He was not annoying or anything, he was insecure, like a lot of 18 years old are. And his break up with Magnus in CoLS was much needed for him to mature (thankful it did not last longer that one book though 😭)

CLARY IS NOT AN IMMATURE, ANNOYING FMC. SHE WAS 16 YEARS OLD WHEN SHE DISCOVERED THAT HER MOTHER LIED TO HER ABOUT HER WHOLE LIFE, HER FATHER WAS THE EQUIVALENT OF A NAZI, AND SHE DISCOVERED A NEW WORLD WHEN SHE WAS BEING CHASED BY SAID NAZI. She does take "some" bad decisions, BUT THAT'S BECAUSE HER MOTHER NEVER TAUGHT HER HOW TO PROTECT HERSELF. LEAVE CLARY ALONE.

Controversial, but Henry is the worst kind of husband a woman could ever ask for. Charlotte had to deal with the education and well being of 3 kids (one of them had an incurable chronic disease that fucking killing him slowly), the Institute and Clave work, and had to manage the household (the house keepers etc.) ALONE, FROM THE AGE OF 19 TO 23. Even in TID, most of the time he was useless as a husband, and as a person she could count and rely on , or take some responsibilities. Great inventor, worst kind of husband.

Tessa having sex with Will in CP2 makes perfect sense, and is very true to her character. She was scared of being "only" touched by Mortmain, and THAT'S VALID. She was sad, and overwhelmed, and wanted to have sex. Her trying to jump a Silent Brother after Will's death, MAKES PERFECT SENSE, AND IS VERY TRUE TO HER CHARACTER.

I do not mind that Tessa is not a big warrior like Emma, Clary and Cordelia. I actually, really like the fact that she fights when she needs to fight (and she is extremely badass when she does), but is a domestic FMC. I love that in TID it was emphasised that she loved reading, gossiping with Sophie, loves clothes and fashion, does not like training, but understands its importance. TESSA IS A ROMANTIC, and her enjoying decorating the Institute in TLH, and hosting parties, and becoming a mother and enjoying a domestic life in GotSM, MAKE SENSE.

Will being an ass in TID is not that big of a deal. He was like those 12 to 17 years old, who go through shit at home, and then they got older, apologise and mature. Yes, he was traumatised by the death of his sister, yes he thought he was cursed, yes his only best friend was dying, and that made him act like a total loser and asswhole , and read Tatiana's diaries when he was 12, and call Tessa a whore when he was 17 (he was trying to protect her, he apologised, and she married him). As an older woman, who deals with kids in middle school and high school, it's not a big of deal, and it's actually laughable. Now, if he was like that in his 20s, 30s and 40s, I would say, fuck that man, but he did all of that when his frontal lobe was not developed. He was a mean bully, but not a murderer nor a criminal.

Same for Jessamine, her being a mean racist, and ableist child, does not make her a monster. She hated her life in the Institute, and only wanted to leave. The only big monstrous thing she did (I think), is putting The Book of the White in Tessa's room, and almost falsely incriminating her (when she knew how Shadowhunetrs treat Downworlders).

Ke Wen Yu is a real badass, and it's sad we don't know much about her.

CORTANA WAS IN THE CARE OF JONAH CARSTAIRS, HE WAS SUPPOSED TO GIVE IT TO HIS SON WHEN HE TURNED 18 YEARS OLD, THAT DID NOT HAPPEN, AND IT WENT TO ELIAS' KIDS. AFTER EMMA RETIRES, CORTANA SHOULD STAY IN THE FAMILY, AND GO TO MINA. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Tessa wen through a lot in TID and we don't talk enough about it.

When Edaline explains the matchmaking system to Sophie, it just really puts in perspective how messed up it is. I totally understand the use of it to prevent incest but the rest of it? Completely useless. Mixing genes so offspring can "develop stronger abilities", the recommendation that only Talentless can marry other Talentless elves, etc. Guess what, that is eugenics. Not to mention the social backlash. Edaline also said her sister was scared to have children for years because her marriage was a "bad match" and she was afraid something would be "wrong" with them. It is so sickening and messed up.

The Bton Fandom: “what a horrible mother, she should have been there for Anthony. She’s an absent mother! She’s the worst.”

Make it make sense.

If Violet would have died and Edmund would have crumbled, everyone would have made excuses for him. Stop acting as if Anthony raised those children alone. Violet was depressed for a while, but then SHE raised them. And before Edmund died, they were loving and involved parents.

People forget too easily all the damage Richard did to Sophie.

Let's just recap all the shitty things he did in the book.

He abused his power as a wealthy heir to take advantage of a poor maid.

He left said maid alone, even when he knew there was a possibility of getting her pregnant. And yes, we don't know why she left, but if he cared he would have done something.

He let Sophie live with him because he had to. The book is clear in that he is not happy about her arrival and decides to treat her as a ward. Now, yes, this technically gave Sophie many opprtunities, but he only did it to safe his reputation. He made her pay for his mistakes.

He abandoned her in the country while he spent most of the year in London doing who knows what. Sophie grew up completely alone, except the servants. She had no friends ebcause everyone knew she was an illegitimate child.

When he is in the country, he barely spent time with her. Although I believe he asked for reports from the governess and knew she could be an accomplished woman.

He married Araminta without ever considering Sophie. If he cared about Sophie, he would have mentioned her to Araminta before proposing to her. No loving father would have made any decision without making sure that his new wife treated his daughter with respect. In fact, Araminta was treated as a fool here too, cause she deserved to know. As horrible as she was, she deserved to know Sophie existed, and the fact that Richard didn't think it important to tell her shows how privileged and horrible he was.He was a very wealthy earl, he could have had anyone. He was only 36 years old and if Sophie looked like him, he should have been handsome.

When he presented to the whole staff, he totally forgot about Sophie. He wasn't even planning on making a formal presentation!!! That scene breaks my heart cause Sophie beams when he tells her he didn’t see her. Like how despicable you have to be to make her feel like she’s forgetable and more insignificant than a scullery maid. Let’s not pretend that this messed up with Sophie’s self-esteem.

He didn’t take measures to protect Sophie’s dowry. He left her money... and then what? There were no further instructions on what to do with her. Did he plan to arrange a marriage? How could he have trusted Sophie’s only opportunity for a good life to a woman who hated her?!?!?!?! An ambitious woman who only cared about money and status.

He was aware of Araminta’s treatment towards Sophie and he allowed it. As horrible as Araminta was, the only reason why that woman came near Sophie was Richard. And Sophie knew it.

I know the dowry was extremely important to Sophie, and it does prove that he acknowledge her existence and his responsibility. But honestly, it wasn’t enough. Even if he was already thinking about a future for Sophie where he dies, he could have been more specific in the will. Or, he could have left instructions to his lawyer. What if Sophie didn’t find a husband? Could she have gotten access to the money? I do believe he would have searched for a decent man, but I don’t think he planned a HEA for Sophie, merely a man willing to overlook her illegitimacy. I don’t think they would have had contact once Sophie got married.

And frankly, the fact that people tend to brush off his conduct and abuse and just focus on Araminta pisses me off. Men really can get away with everything.
