hi! i make my own carrds now and again when i have the time to set aside to rly make it personal to me but i have used your templates in the past and im still learning how to use everything. i was just wondering how you group things together in your templates. like how you can group things so when you change one text box's font it'll change the whole carrd's font or one border's color and it'll change all the borders to match. i can't seem to figure that part out for my own and man it's not easy manually changing every individual element every time i change my theme colors on my multimuse 😭 thank you so much for everything you do <3

Hi! So, what I use to group elements for editing is a feature carrd has called element styles. The tab for it is found here (using my La Vita Nuova template to demonstrate), it's available when you select an element and go into the appearance tab.

when you click it, you should get a dropdown menu like this

These are the styles that I have have saved for this element type. Different types of elements will have their own styles saves; text will have it's own styles, containers will have their own styles, as will lists, links, buttons, everything. What you are looking at in the above menu is the styles I have saved for containers on this template.

For example, here is the top navigation style saved for this carrd. This style effects the container I use for the buttons at the top of every page on this template. If you selected the other containers with the same style, they would look like this, indicating which style is being used. It also displays the name of the style used in the little box at the top, so even if you collapse the list, you can still see which style an element is using.

You can change the style of an element by clicking on a style from the list of saved styles. It will automatically adjust whatever is selected to fit the customizations of the style. If you change an element with a style selected, it will automatically change every other element assigned to that style. So if, for example, you increased the margins of a container, all the other containers sharing that style will also have their margins increased without you having to do it manually. Or if you change text from black to white, all the other text elements assigned to that style will also turn from black to white automatically.

But to do that, of course, you will need to save a style first. If we go back to the first thing I had selected on the front page of the template, we can see that it had no style saved or selected. For demonstration purposes, I'm going to save this as it's own style. To that that, I'm going to make sure I have the right element selected, then scroll down to the bottom of the style list where it says "Add Style", and it will automatically create a new style with the customization settings of the selected element (that can then be renamed for organization purposes).

So it will go from this:

With that style saved, all you have to do is select another element and select the style from the dropdown menu, and it will change it to that style and group it with the other elements assigned to the style.

A tip I have is to be careful about checking if carrd automatically assigned a saved style to a new element before you make changes to it. Sometimes it will automatically assign an element to the style of what you had selected last, and you can end up changing the style itself by accident. If you don't want the new element to be grouped under a certain style, be sure to check it first.

(The following ramble has so much Hilda stuff in it I may need to reblog it over on my multimuse where I write Hilda)

I think about the Lilith and Hilda friendship far too much. In a dream world, where we got more seasons and I also get to control the direction of those seasons, I would have loved to have seen this developed further on screen.

I mean, we know Hilda is a friendly, loving person, she's very kind and considerate, but she's also got a freaking dark and sharp edge and has a higher permanent body count than her sister, and shows zero regrets about it; when Hilda kills she fucking means it. So it's not automatically assumed she'd be friendly to Lilith; after all the woman has been involved in encouraging some of Sabrina's more problematic actions.

So the fact Hilda does befriend Lilith so significantly shows not only that she doesn't take past actions when she was working with Lucifer personally, but also that she understands her and believes she's in need of that friendship. Hilda only actively and significantly reaches out to those she believes need support (look how she tries to take Theo under her wing when she sees them being bullied, and how she then fully takes those bullies down). So she thinks Lilith needs reaching out to.

And what I love is that Lilith doesn't reject this or turn away from it or even dismiss it; she fully embraces it. We might not get much screen time with it due to Netflix cutting the amount of episodes and the writers trying to fit what was basically a 10 or 12 episode story arc into 8 episodes, but we do see enough of the effects to know that it had become a mutual and significant friendship.

Look how Hilda is the one who can keep coming in, the one who can chat to Lilith quite honestly, the one we see visiting her most frequently, the one who feels she has to warn her about Lucifer being nearby and, most importantly of all, the one person Lilith trusts her son with. Lilith doesn't know if Lucifer is going to take Adam and run or is going to kill Lilith and then take Adam and run, she doesn't know if she'll be around but she does know Adam is in danger. So what does she do? Entrusts him to Hilda, telling her to keep him safe. This is the child that Lilith won't leave for a second, the child for whom she has locked herself in a room to keep safe, and she just hands him to Hilda without a hint of hesitation.

I just wish Lilith had entrusted Hilda with what happened to Adam, that she killed him in order to save him from Lucifer, because if anyone would understand that it's Hilda, because she's not someone who would dismiss the impact of abuse, or the fact there are mothers throughout history (primarily slaves) who have killed their children in a last, desperate effort to protect them from the same suffering they themselves have experienced.

The only difference is that I feel Hilda, she of the same crazy plans as Sabrina essentially, would be determined to find a way to bring Adam back and keep him safe from Lucifer. I mean Lazarus said he couldn't resurrect someone without a body, but Marie does resurrect Adam into a doll, so you're not telling me that Hilda the Ultimate Weaver Witch wouldn't have fashioned a living doll that could have become flesh and bone with the right magic.

That's the crazy and unexpected ride-or-die friendship I feel Hilda and Lilith had the potential for, and I think about it a lot. And also how confused and mildly irritated Sabrina would be by it. Lot harder to keep secrets if both your aunt and your partner in crime are best buds.

     As I've been iconning for the multimuse, I've noticed that there are a lot of instances where Rouge is shown to be some level of displeased whenever she's fighting with the rest of the Sonic cast. And that got me thinking, because like... I really don't like the idea that Rouge is uncomfortable with fighting. Rouge has been in plenty of scraps and scrapes, of course she knows how to handle herself in a fight. But I think I've got an idea as to why she'd be off-put by these scenarios.

     Sonic and his friends... they're not really ones for subtlety. They're often blitzing places, going into Eggman bases loud and proud! And that's... so, so far from how Rouge typically operates. She's a thief! Her default is avoiding all of that frontline fighting, she's not out here trying to do things the hard way when the smart way is stealthing through a vent and silently retrieving her target.

     So whenever she's alongside Sonic and Co., she is at an overwhelming disadvantage. She's like a DnD rogue who can't get sneak attack to save their life. She's not nearly as effective doing things this way, but obviously she's still gotta fight. So she adapts and changes up her tactics as needed.

     Even still, with all of that said? She is quite strong in a one-on-one! Let's not forget that she and her kickboxing skills fought Knuckles to a standstill. But again, it's any day of the week that she'd rather be hitting you in the back of the head when you didn't even know she had made it into the heart of your facility.

     And truth be told? That frontline fighting stuff is the main weakness Shadow and Omega are here to make up for. They're the powerhouses that can keep attention away from her as she does what she's good at. Omega alone is the greatest maker of distractions this side of the galaxy, and she's got Shadow by her side too!

Frankly, if I had to pick one group of characters, it'd be Yakuza. I want to get more use out of my Yakuza muses over on my multimuse. That being said, as far as characters and muns go, I'm usually pretty open and I really enjoy OCs.

Would you get along with your muse?

I'd like to believe so. I won't go as far as to say that Matthew is a self-insert(I mean for starters, he's Brazilian-American, I'm white as shit), but I do have a lot of similar interests to him. Now whether that was intentional or just a side effect of him being my muse is up in the air, but I have a feeling he and I would be pretty chill.

What’s your opinion on blog themes? How do you feel about your own?

I feel like blog themes can be neat, but I think they're a pain in the ass to deal with. I'm kinda neutral on the ones I'm using right now, and I think the coolest one I have right now is over on the reboot blog, @everglow-synth-reboot, but even then because of the HTML lock shit that tumblr implemented, I've just moved onto using a Carrd anyway. It's gotten to the point where my newest sideblog, @golden-lynel, doesn't even have a theme, and is dash only.

What’s something that would make you unfollow a mutual?

Truth be told, there aren't a whole lot of things? I tend to be fairly chill, and I also more or less vet my potential mutuals? But as a hypothetical thing it'd probably be just outright harassment as a big thing. There's a whole slew of others I could think of, ranging from stuff like actual predatory behavior to just being a petty piece of shit, but I don't think I've really run into that problem overall.

Three big no-nos to do or say to your muse. (their ‘berserk button’)

Hurting his friends is a huge thing. Hurting anyone definitely due to his heroic nature, but those closer to him are much more precious.

Threatening the Lounge itself. This is his baby, he put in a lot of work to make the place a comfy spot for people, and he's not going to let it go down without a fight.

To a lesser extent, "You won't; no balls." Because then he'll do it, and when he succeeds, he's going to be super annoying about it.

Three interesting little tidbits or facts of your muse.

Matthew, and Polycus as a whole, was made based off of a Dungeons & Dragons 5e supplement known as Lasers & Liches. It's very fun, I highly recommend it if you play 5e. It turns the whole game into a silly Saturday Morning Cartoon, complete with new classes based on stuff like Sailor Moon and Kamen Rider. This is why magic is a huge part of the world, as well as stuff like dwarves, elves and orcs being present in Neo Arcadia.

He once swallowed a quarter on a dare. It took three minutes of him choking, drinking water, and nearly throwing up to get it down. He doesn't know what happened to it. He is still scared to this day.

Despite living there most of his life, Matthew still gets lost in Neo Arcadia sometimes. It gets so bad that he literally needs to climb up the highest building he can find just to get his bearings, usually meaning following billboards and business signs to get around.

Jayden is the softest by far. He's here for a good time. He's not scary. He's here because he was an idiot. He's a cupcake.

The toughest... is either Hellaina or Tara I think. They're both pretty stable, take no shit muses. Hellaina is Vox's second, and Tara is many things, one of which is a Fallen Angel and a mercenary.

2) Which Muse would blow through $1000 quickly?

Vox or Metatron for two entirely opposite reasons: Metatron only mildly understands money, and just Would Not Get it. Vox has enough money that he just doesn't care. He'll make it back in a day or two.

3) Do any of them have nicknames? Is there a meaning behind them?

Yes! A few of them do! Depending on how much of a nickname one considers Vox, he counts, which was the pretentious gay's use of latin coming in clutch for his name in Hell because he couldn't be Vincent.

Dia's name is already a nickname from life.

Tara's has a few motivations behind it. On one hand, it's more subtle when on Earth, but it's also more casual than Astaroth-- Astaroth is the name of the Fallen Angel, and delegate to Earth and the other Rings. She is a greater demon. Tara is Belphegor's best friend, she's the one who's eating gelato in Italy because she spends so much time in Italy.

Svetlana uses Lana a lot of the time, because it's more recognizable to non-Russian people, but she has a whole list of diminutives with specific usage meanings behind them.

4) Are any of them up-to-speed on the latest trends? Anyone more old school?

I know we all expect Vox to be the most up to date, but he's not. He owns the trends, and he runs them, but the person who spends the most time online, keeping up with them is Jayden. Hellaina also knows as a result of her job.

5) Who has the best relationship with their siblings?

...Belphegor? The bar isn't super high. Most of them are only children, and while Hellaina has a sister that relationship is... not good. And at least some of Belphegor's are also down in Hell as the other Sins. He has their numbers. It's... well it is. He misses them despite them all, in theory, being there.

6) Karaoke night! Who is likely to grab the mic first and bust out a tune?

Jayden. Jayden is lord of the pop sensation. Dia also is likely to! She'll drag people into musical theatre duets.

7) Who is least likely to enter a beauty pageant/model?

Hellaina wouldn't, Dia... I can see her doing it, but it would be more for fun, some sort of fashion show Cannibal Town is putting on. Vox would be dragged into it through like... Velvette and Valentino, it's a press thing, he would not do it of his own volition. Adelard, Belphegor, Svetlana, and Astaroth wouldn't. And honestly I think Jayden would.

8) If your Muses visited a haunted house where actors scare you, who would panic and who would be unfazed? 

Hellaina wouldn't be phased. Dia is having a great time, she's not scared at all, but she's having fun! Svetlana... honestly, I think, might be spooked, but depending on what it is, but has a decent poker face. Tara is unafraid, Belphegor is more likely to be. Metatron would have the like... funny moth-eye effect in which he is shocked but not scared. Honestly I can't decide if Adelard is scared of them, or if he's just been down in Hell for so long nothing even registers anymore, it's just another Tuesday. Vox isn't scared. Jayden is livestreaming the whole thing, he's going in unafraid of anything! And at the second scare immediately spooks and drops his phone.

9) Are any of your Muses particular about taking certain modes of transportation?

Vox has been Hell's foremost advocate for a subway system for literal decades. He cannot drive, so mostly he is driven or walks. He's sort of the one with an interesting answer.

Metatron can fly but doesn't usually.

10) Share a little-known fact about any Muse.

Of the sinner muses, Adelard has the highest body count. He has killed far and away the most people, and considers it wholly justified.

A mix of Minecraft, pixelated/computer-aesthetic, annnnnd purple and green! I used a Minecraft-themed Picrew for the image in the top left corner of the first page, and the same GIF of Haruhi as toppers for each of the characters' vague 'in-depth' boards. Please try to keep the info in the depth boards short, or link the name itself to a separate doc that contains your character's info! Or both-- both is good.

Have fun editing, but please be careful! Certain elements of the doc weren't built for text to go on too long or be too short, so you may have to make empty spaces to keep everything in place (or shrink the text a bit!). I had to mess around to figure out the 'shadow' effect on the big text, it's really two separate sets of text that you'll need to write identically in order for the 'shadow' effect to work!

This is meant to be a small multimuse doc, complete with a URL, some rules and basic descriptions of the blog itself, and three (short) muse intros! There isn't a lot of room, so make sure your words are concise!

I’ve redone Castiel’s about page, including verses. I narrowed down my list of verses from one per season to two per the entire series (post and pre season nine) canon-ish large verses, and separate verses for canon-ish versions of him such as endverse, season nine graceless, etc. and kept my AU verses. A Mass Effect verse has been added officially as well. When I say "canon", by the way, I don’t really care about following detailed canon plot points for interactions unless plotted; canon mostly applies for big plot points relevant to Castiel as a character, and my canon verses absolutely encompass anything canon divergent.

I’ve added a navigation page. I have pretty extensive navigation on the about page and a small one on the rules page as well, so a lot of may be reduntant, but I wanted all the things in one place for ease of access for both myself and people writing with me.

My rules page has remained basically the same for a long while now, but if you’ve been here since years ago and haven’t looked at it since following, I’d give it a read. PREFERRED COMMUNICATION: IMs. I'm getting back into adding people to Discord as well, but that's a bit slow going.

EXPERIENCE: 12 years on Tumblr ( hhhh ) and 18-ish years spent writing on various forums and instant messengers.

PREFERRED ROLEPLAY TYPE: I mostly write slice of life type stuff these days, although leaning toward fluff or angst is always fine. I can't say I necessarily have a preference : the only thing I don't necessarily prefer to write is fighting ( as in writing physical fights, not arguments ) or smut.

PET PEEVES & DEALBREAKERS:

"WANNA RP" ASKS : These drive me absolutely up a wall. I'm not talking about people reaching out in IMs or asks with "hey I have an idea I want to play out," or sending me plot ideas. No, I mean asks that straight up, just say "wanna rp?" or some variation therein. First off : I'm a roleplay blog. So I feel like the question is irrelevant. But second off, these asks always, always come from non-mutuals who clearly have disregarded my rules to send the ask. I delete them on sight. Petty? Probably. But I cannot stand them.

PUTTING MORE THAN ONE-TO-THREE SPACES BETWEEN YOUR WORDS : So, I can't really see the difference when people put two or three spaces between their words versus one. What I'm talking about here is when people put like... five-to-ten. It makes your posts impossible to read, and if there's some aesthetic to it, I just... don't see it. It just hurts my head and makes me mad.

REPETITIVELY STATING NO ONE WANTS TO WRITE WITH YOU : Yes, this is petty of me, but dear lord. Nothing is more annoying to me than looking at someone's blog and seeing endless pages of them whining or passive-aggresively saying things like "WELL since NO ONE wants to write with me I guess I'll log off" or something like that. It just... drives me up a wall. I get it, it feels like crap when you feel like no one wants to write with you. But this is a hobby, and if it is effecting your mood that deeply that often then you may need to disconnect to prevent the social bleed. Once in a while is one thing, everyone has a down day. I'm talking about blogs where every other post is some variation on this theme.

PLOTS OR MEMES: Memes, honestly. I'm not against plotting, but I am so horrifically bad at it. If you come to me with a plot you wanna play out, I'll probably be game! But I'm... not likely... to come up with anything.

LONG REPLIES OR SHORT REPLIES: Yes. There is no or, the answer is yes. My one exception is one-liners : I don't mind short posts when you give me somewhere to go / something to go off of. But a single line of dialogue is probably not gonna do the trick, unless it's just a silly crack thread.

BEST TIME TO WRITE: Late evening into middle of the night. Sometimes I can also get writing done in the middle of the day, but not often.

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSES: Yes and no. On a multimuse like this, the answer is definitely : some of them, absolutely yes. I see a lot of myself in Amity, Eda, Kagami, and Maxi. But others, not in the least.

12. Promos

promos are a weird topic for me, since i often find myself sighing at a lot of them but like. i don't know what i expect from a promo either

i guess its just a side effect of watching promos go from "actually informational" to one of two extremes: "here's a bunch of graphics and formatting and potentially audio to go with it. no i won't actually tell you what my blog is about" or "hi, i'm just going to copy everyone else's wording" with optional addition of "but i'm also gonna make a joke about it so you know i'm Different"

which ofc i can't afford to judge, because eventually people are going to run out of things to put on their promos, and i've definitely made promos like that myself. maybe i just prefer when people found new rpers via seeing who other people are rping with? idk.

i do like when multimuses have multiple of their muses visible or listed on their promo tho

13. graphics

in a similar vein, i find myself sighing at a lot of graphics. even if i've made the former myself, promo graphics and post banners just feel unnecessary. if people in the reading hobby can't consider being interested in you without pretty(?) graphics that will either say the same information or be the only way to access said information but harder to read, are they really someone you want to write with?

that said, i don't hate them- i only really hate them when they deep fry, saturate, or just overcomplicate the original image and then proceed to be the only way to see the information. people need to be able to read that!

if you want examples of good looking AND readable post banners then look at @mixed-up-multiverse (it's text only) and @electricea (it has images of R.yuji and Skull on it but aside from being rotated the text itself is basically untouched)

14. icons

i dunno, i think i like icons? considering all the ones i've used here?

jokes aside, i really do like icons! they're basically completely unique to tumblr rp as a medium, serve as a reminder of the muse's appearance, and are a quick way to convey the character's face expression and tone without having to write it out. it makes dialogue-only rp work!

iconing itself is also fun! i've gone and iconed characters for friends like three times (hell, i'd probably make a rp icon blog if it didn't require finding and watching the source media)

...but man can i not stand gif icons and icons smaller than 100x100 px lmao

❧ Have you ever been jealous of anyone?

Of course, I think that's human :) In terms of rp I am continuously jealous of people who manage to write regularly and quickly, because I unfortunately am a very slow writer and have dry patches where I can't write at all. I wish I had the time? muse? dedication? others have to write daily and don't keep their partners waiting so long.

I am also a little jealous of people who write the same muse for many years. I always found that really admirable and cool. I love having a multimuse but it's also a necessity because I somehow can't stay focused on just one muse for a long period of time. I also hop fandoms after a while. But sometimes I wish I was able to just really go in-depth with one muse for 5+ years. Kudos to anyone who can do that!

And then of course there's the jealousy of seeing a portrayal that just really kicks ass. It can create a bit of insecurity but I try to not get negative emotions about it and instead focus on the fact that I get to see or interact with a really good writer and enjoy their skill and ideas! :)

AND THEN THERE'S THE JEALOUSY OF SEEING PEOPLE WRITE SHIPS THAT I WANNA WRITE WHILE EVERYONE IS EXCLUSIVE WITH THEIR PARTNERS AND I CAN'T FIND SOMEONE TO WRITE IT WITH GOD DAMN IT 😂😂😂 But it's okay, we're okay.

✖ How has Tumblr RP changed since you started?

MASSIVELY. *grandma voice* Back in my day-- I said that yesterday, actually, we used to rp with 49 duplicates any scenario that came to our mind and had gigantic reaction gifs in each reply. Nobody had a proper theme, icons weren't a thing and nobody had rule pages. It was admittedly chaotic but overall felt like a free, fun space to be in with very little social politics.

Especially in recent years (2-3) it's become minefield of eggshells, to put it bluntly. Some things I approve of, such as the rule pages - I think those really help to filter out who is a good match as a writing partner before you follow them. Others I find saddening. The whole exclusivity/mains business for example leads to many people feeling shut out - and while I think everyone is absolutely free to be exclusive with friends and close interactions to others, there are fandoms that are so small that no new people dare make blogs (or do and go inactive immediately) because everyone else is essentially in a closed group. Or maybe they're not but they're intimidated by the "mains". Tied into that is also the unfortunate side effect that sometimes "popular" blogs create a clique vibe that can be very daunting to new rpers, particularly when these popular blogs decide to use their popularity to dictate how things should be run within a fandom.

I've also seen good writers be ignored or neglected because they didn't use fancy graphics or had no blog theme (this was before dash view was a thing!), which was upsetting. I feel like we're going away from that a little bit at the moment, but for a while it was really "aesthetics over writing", which is sad for a community of writers, in my opinion.

Ship wars have been a thing for a long time, but they are getting increasingly bad and I am getting increasingly more annoyed by it. Blacklist and keep scrolling. We all do it. No need to get all up in arms because someone likes a fictional ship you find stupid, just focus on the ships you do like.

I am sure there's lots more to say but these are the main things that come to mind :)
