“{Name?!} is that you?!”

You somewhat recognise the voice calling to you & turn around to see a man who has familiar features you remember from a time ago… It takes you a moment as the dark haired man walks up to you before the recognition hits you.

“Liam?!”

“Hi, {Name}, it’s been some time hasn’t it?” William Afton, your old childhood friend & neighbour laughs back quietly in that familiar quiet wry accent. You haven’t seen him since he’d set off for university for engineering… Or something like that. He reaches out, grasping your shoulder in a familiar warm grip, the proximity confirming he still wore the same cologne he had taken a liking to back when you were both teenagers.

“I didn’t think I’d see you here… Are you visiting {Town} or is your arrangement more permanent?”

“More permanent,” you confirm with a slight laugh, rubbing at the back of your neck.

“Oh! Really? Well, if you’re interested myself & a few friends of mine have a book club we’ve been running for a while. Maybe a bit pretentious in terms of the material we usually bring in to discuss but we spend a good majority of it drinking wine & talking about the books, jobs, hobbies, the kids, anything really.”

“Wait, wait, wait! The kids?” you asked, laughing a bit as you look him up & down, ignoring his eye roll. Of course in terms of the time passed it made sense William would have had kids but honestly imagining the “wild child” he was back then it also made sense to be taken aback & you didn’t mean any harm in your shock.

“Yes. The kids. All of us have them. We’re just a group of single fathers hanging out & expanding our horizons. I figured maybe you would be a good fit for the group but if not-“

“I suppose I could check it out,” you blurted, before he could finish his sentence.

“Fantastic. We meet on Fridays & Wednesdays. Take my number & just give me a call. We switch locations quite a bit,” he laughs again, handing you a card with his number scrawled across it before he turns & walks away. You feel your cheeks getting oddly flush as you type his number into your phone wondering why you feel so flustered when you suddenly freeze & realise something.

Why had he went out of his way to let you know he was a SINGLE dad?!

Despite your heated face you reason it was just Liam being his usual coy mildly cryptic self. He’d been that way since you were kids after all. Now about that club…

You arrive at the grand fortress that you couldn’t believe was classed as a “home” the gothic architecture had obviously been a castle or palace at some point in the past, apparently it belonged to one of the club members… You couldn’t help but wonder if someone this egregiously wealthy could be anything short of insufferable, William had described their tastes as pretentious after all… You roll your eyes but before you can even raise you fist to knock at the door it was pulled open by none other than William himself who gave you a warm smile.

“I’m so glad you made it, {Name}. Come on I’ll show you to the library Claude ever so graciously lends us… We probably take advantage of it a little,” he tells you, politely taking your elbow & guiding you through the utterly breathtaking home.

You step into the library & your jaw would have dropped if you had less decorum… Not only was this library beautiful & filled with some books that were probably worth more than you could ever afford but the single dads were… A sight to say in the least.

The first one you caught sight of wasn’t even looking in your direction & he looked rather young to be a father in your opinion, his hair was striking a glimmering platinum blonde with pink streaks running through it. He had bright mint green eyes, made brighter by the black liner framing them & obvious freckles across his nose which was currently wrinkled as he was sipping his wine, his brows furrowed before he laughed & said “1875, you bastard. You can’t fool me!”. His laughter was a lilting baritone, it almost sounded liked music, he was undeniably entrancing, he seemed to have an aura that almost encouraged keeping attention on him.

A snort brought your attention to a very tall fair skinned man, easily the tallest member of the group obvious even with him currently leaning over a chair. He seemed to be the oldest, at least his silver hair & glasses gave that first impression but a closer look at his face revealed he was in his late 30’s at most though his grin was mildly distracting, you couldn’t help but notice he had very sharp teeth… From here you couldn’t seem to tell exactly what colour his eyes were, they were very pale, if you had to guess they seemed to be a shade of blue but you would have to approach him to be entirely sure. Approaching him wasn’t something that necessarily found unappealing.

This time it was a snide comment from the corner of the room that set your eyes to wandering again & finally you have seen every member of the club. Dirty blonde hair is the first thing you notice, mostly because this man has a beard unlike the rest of the club. Unlike the other club members he DOES notice you looking at him & his hazel eyes immediately lock on yours & he doesn’t blink. You’re vaguely aware he’s dressed in a very expensive looking suit but you’re pointedly aware of the fact something about him seems… Off. He doesn’t have the same welcoming energy the others do, in fact your instincts are screaming at you to not approach him though you have no idea why that is.

It’s very easy for you to break eye contact with him to look at William who just chuckles & clears his throat.

“Kairo, Claude, Hans, this is {Name}. The new member I was telling you about.”

“Congratulations on your recent reunion,” the man who you suspected was named Claude said, surprisingly quietly though with a voice as deep as his you heard him just fine.

That sent Kairo(?) into a fit of giggles into his glass before he gave you a bright wide grin & wink.

“God, you’re hilarious. Or maybe the wine is making me think everything is funny. Oh Claude, where would I be without you?”

“Probably in your house, Kair. I doubt I enrich your life that substaintally…” the now confirmed Claude mused, scratching at the back of his head.

Hans didn’t contribute anything to the conversation other than a quiet scoff & once again you felt that… Strange put off feeling before William clapped his hands together.

���Well, pleasantries are done, enjoy the club,” he chuckled walking towards an armchair & leaving you with a few options.

   I honestly think it's a combination of both, especially when it comes to writing Luffy! For example, if i see that someone has a straw hat verse, i immediately start getting ideas and want to be part of that if i can. and i'm sure ideas pop up when i read metas too, i just can't think of any specific instances right now. i do think the majority of ideas ( especially with Luffy ) come from the most random shit in my brain though, and then somehow eventually manifest into something different? at least for new interactions, otherwise ideas come as i discuss headcanons ooc with other muns, which in a way is like reading them, just not reading them on the dash. i guess in some chaotic way, my ideas come from everywhere, from every direction, and i genuinely don't know how to to sort through them all??

    like just the other day, i was riding home from work, and i have no idea how i got to this thought, but i got to thinking about Luffy and entomophagy ( eating insects ) and i had to scribble that down as soon as i walked in the door. now that i think about it though, i think it's because i had been discussing food/eating habits with wilder the day before, which originally stemmed from their meta on Doffy's food habits. so yeah, all the ideas, all the time, inspired from so many different sources!

   i think at this point i am very rarely intimidated. once upon a time i was, but coming into this fandom originally by myself AND writing one of the most friendly and outgoing characters, i didn't really see room to let intimidation keep me from interacting? i was definitely nervous at first with writing a new character, and a main, beloved, and complex character at that. but people were very chill as i gradually figured out my voice for Luffy, and now those nerves are pretty much gone, because after 7 months of having this blog, i have confidence in the way i write him! :D

   i think of maybe two or three instances where "intimidation" was a factor, but i look back on it now, and i think it was more of an uncertainty on how to communicate with certain people, like being unable to get a read if that makes sense? so i guess i'm more so intimidated when i don't know how to start the conversation. that's why originally i had an interest tracker on this blog to kind of get an idea of what people would be interested in talking about or plotting, because i am autistic and that direct "this is what i want" really helps me when reaching out. i'm thinking about revamping that and maybe linking it again since i've definitely gotten several new folks here since removing it.

I always feel so frustrated with how unimaginative Marvel is with Remy, the only interesting things he's had is New Sun and X-Factor. Idk if this is true, but I read there was some rumor that Remy was gonna be an alter ego of Sinister, which would've given the writers more to work with imo. I think why some writers like Rogue and Erik more since they're much easier to work with outside of shipping. Same with Kurt, whom I sometimes think Remy is a pale imitation of (Catholic, martial artist, looks demonic, ladies man, even his powers suit a thief more than Remy's). If Kurt and Rogue weren't siblings, I'd sooner ship Rogue with him than Remy. Also, since Remy can only charge non-living things, it just makes him look weak and limited compared to other characters. I don't say all this shit to be mean, but I do get frustrated with how little material he's given, and can understand why his character is constantly put on the back burner in various media compared to other X-Men characters.

Yeah I remember reading somewhere they'd thought about doing something like that with Remy and Sinister and I think instead went with New Sun? Something like that. Also considered having him be ANOTHER Secret Summers Brother and I'm glad we didn't go this route lol we need to stop the Summers-Grey family tree from taking over the whole X-verse while we can.

I'll say that I don't feel that Remy is a pale imitation of Kurt mainly because I feel Remy deals with a lotta things that Kurt really doesn't on a personal level (true parental abandonment like no margali in SIGHT kinda shit, street life, crime, child soldier gangland shit, the greys and blacks of morality etc). You see more of those things in his solos which can even get a bit of a noir vibe to them which is nice but people just rarely wanna put in the time and effort with Remy. They rarely get him so they knock him down into say, the TAS 90s Gambit mold and call it a day. Which is just ....... no one wants that. Not Gambit Haters, not Gambit Stans.

And I get what you're saying about his powers but I think if he could charge living matter constantly like he can as New Sun homie would be so comically OP. I think the real issue here is just again, fuckers don't know how to write him so they go for whatever's easiest. So it's all lame, dumb and boring. If they let him get funky with his powers a bit more it'd could be super cool.

The pro of Rogue and Magneto when made scene partners is that they do have much more solid pre-existing characterizations, vibes and "story packs". As a writer you can walk in and already there's a couple of things you can do which are kinda like Rogue or Magneto Classics. Remy not so much so he ends up being like, Rogue's loser sidekick which sucks.

I feel you tho on the shitshow that is comic Rogue-Kurt dynamics. I too can see the appeal and charm of them as a romantic ship just as much as I can see them working wonderfully as a sibling pair. My beef around them has been for years that we get this Big Reveal that Mystique is Kurt's Bio-Mom but after he has his initial freak out for a couple issues in Excalibur or Uncanny or w/e he was in at the time I forget I just remember Amanda is there this whole thing-- IT NEVER REALLY COMES UP AGAIN BETWEEN HIM AND ROGUE AND THEY JUST ACT LIKE NORMAL AND OCCASIONALLY MENTION THEY'RE SORT-OF RELATED IN A WAY THAT'S MORE OF A REMINDER TO THE AUDIENCE????? LIKE IT'S FUN TRIVIA INSTEAD OF A PLOT POINT OR IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIP????

their first serious non-combat interaction was basically Kurt telling her to drop dead when she comes to Xavier for help when she's 17 and he's 21. He finally cuts her some slack after she ALMOST DIES IN A SUICIDE BY VILLAIN ATTEMPT to save Wolverine's fiance which makes Wolverine go "yeah okay fine your not total dogshit ig" so NOW Kurt'll stop being a raging asshole to the mentally ill teen lol (I'm shit talking Kurt rn but this is genuinely part of why I love him). Then there's MAYBE a couple of scenes that are outside of Action Stuff before the X-Men "die" in the late 80s and we get Excalibur where the two of them interact, the biggest of them is him FLIRTING WITH HER.

Uncanny X-Men (1963) #192

Now-- it's Kurt so this isn't anything really all that crazy. He jokingly flirts with like 90% of the X-Men. It's just the kinda silly funny quirky guy he is. But when I'm trying to think of say, Rogue-Kurt moments POST the Mystique Reveal that really feel like People Connecting or them Actually Being Siblings I draw a blank. This flirting scene is more iconic and stand out than basically all of their 00s and on interactions because it feels like a natural and very emotional conflict they WOULD have. He goofs around like he always does, her feelings get hurt, he realizes what he's done and feels like an ass and wants to fix it. EMOTIONS HAPPENED HERE, CHARACTERIZATION AND CONFLICTED OCCURRED. THIS CONFLICT AND LATER RECONCILIATION WILL LEAD TO A BETTER FRIENDSHIP AS WE GO! THANKS CLAREMONT!

Even at her wedding he's basically just like "well I AM her brother (remember? did you see that watchmojo listicle? have you read my wiki recently) and I AM blue so I should ALSO be in the wedding."

There's really not a lot of content of them like, hanging out, post 2004 or so. Some of that is just them being in different books but a lot of it just no one putting in the time or effort. X-Treme X-Men (2001) was all about Rogue looking into shit related to Destiny's writings and grappling with some Family and Personal Grief at the start there. Kurt shoulda been around for at least the first arc. Not thunderbird that absolutely nothing of a dude. It was the perfect setting to work on this issue that the 6 degrees of Mystique™ has made. One of the only other encounters between them I can think of that's post-90s is this:

And this interaction is set like VERY SOON after she joined the X-Men!!!! So it's not even a truly modern scene of them just vibing!!!!

To me, they're NOT siblings. Not in the way Kurt is with Amanda who's his ACTUAL adoptive sister or even in the way that Rogue is with Bobby, Sam or Scott who she just has Massive Broship Energies with and it's entirely because their 6 Degrees of Mystique™ is tenuous at best for how much it would really matter to them. Kurt HAS a family! He HAS siblings! Mystique abandoned/lost him and never looked for him or intended to tell him about their connection until forced to. He was raised by Margali and sees HER FAMILY as HIS family and they think the same! Like that's a standard ass adoptive family vibe.

Rogue is found by Mystique and Irene and raised by them in near isolation ON ANOTHER CONTINENT and is never informed about Kurt even in a past "i had a baby and lost him" tense kinda way or Graydon either. To her knowledge growing up she HAS NO SIBLINGS OF ANY KIND. She meets and fights against and then beside Kurt with no idea there's literally anything connecting them but that they're both mutants and x-men for like, YEARS even IN canon. Their whole relationship is rocky as shit for a WHILE there and then she gets YEETED SECRETLY TO AUSTRALIA AND HE THINKS SHE DIED. And let's be clear-- sure he's upset about her "death" too but he is MUCH more upset over the "deaths" of Logan, Ororo and Peter who he ACTUALLY NAMES WHILE TALKING ABOUT THIS GRIEF. Because you know... THESE RELATIONSHIPS ACTUALLY HAD FUCKING SCREENTIME.

Excalibur (1988) #1

He's not a monster, he does give a shit about her, but realistically over the years VERY little time has been put into building ANY relationship between Rogue and Kurt of ANY kind and it's frustrating when they really wanna act like they've got one. They don't. And it pisses me off because realistically Rogue/Kurt is less fucked up than Amanda/Kurt and guess which one is canon. Because of the 6 Degrees of Mystique™ people don't really ship them even tho there's an even more Yikes Kurt ship that's canon and Does Not Seem To Fucking Die, there's been no real development of ANY kind of relationship between him and Rogue, they've lived their ENTIRE lives not knowing each other or not really being more than coworkers and Kurt has NO INTEREST in truly claiming Mystique as his mother which is valid-- she fucking sucks.

I think Rogue/Kurt has legs and it's aggravating to me because I also really like Rogue & Kurt siblingship! I grew up watching Evolution! The sibling vibes and friendship that grow naturally up between them even BEFORE the Mystique Reveal in that show are just CHEF'S KISS. But in comics they IMPLY a familial connection that really.... doesn't mean much... and then they don't show these two deciding it to make it mean something or organically falling into a good sibling relationship... so they cut off the dynamic at the knees. You'll be shit on if you try to go off script and explore a more romantic angle because "ew they're rElAtEd" (ignoring all the previously stated flaws in that argument), there's nothing in canon that helps you figure out how friendly they even truly are so good luck building something canon compliant and they just generally don't seem to even give a shit about this dynamic at all so without dipping into other adaptations/AUs it can be hard to find something to even SAY about them.

Like I'd love to see Rogue and Kurt engage like, finding out what the Mystique Reveal means to them and how they see each other. I'd love to see them becoming friends and then family. I'd love to see them making that CHOICE. Because really in this context it's a CHOICE. She's not his adoptive sister, Amanda is. She's not his bio sister either in 616, that idea got shot down early on. She's a girl his bio mom who is a stranger to him raised an ocean away while he was raised in a loving home with siblings he adores. They met when she was a villain, he vehemently disliked her until she almost died saving someone's life then he tried to at least be civil and friendly. He finds out Mystique is his bio mother and asks Rogue about her but at the end of the day feels no real connection to Mystique or her life. His mother is Margali. The circus was his family. He cares about Mystique, Irene and Rogue because he's a decent human being but like, not in the same amount or extent as his adoptive family.

You can't have a scene of him flirting, even jokingly, with her in the 80s then think a 1993 mom reveal some how totally erases that vibe. Especially when you then put like no effort into exploring that GOLDMINE OF A PLOT THREAD. They've got so few non-combat just hanging out and engaging in character development interactions in 616 canon I can count them on my hands. At this point you could spin a wheel and decide to give them any relationship dynamic and it could genuinely work because there's no real content of them in comics to use contest it.

Like at her wedding they bring up that he's her brother again. That shouldn't be something we have a "turn to the camera and remind the audience" moment about. That should be as "well duh" to me as Bobby being her best man or Scott and Alex being brothers. It's not. It's just not. Their connection is just a factoid at this point and I hate it. You can't close off all these other potential dynamics for them (romantic/enemies/rivals/shitty roommates/etc whatever) by making them connected via Mystique, having an line every like, 10 years that reminds us they're "siblings" (are they tho? are they really? is that how this works?) and kinda vaguely imply they don't hate each other which is really just riding on the fact that pretty much ALL the X-Men like Kurt and we the audience like both of them and then GIVE US NOTHING WITH THAT STATED DYNAMIC!

MORE TIME AND EFFORT WAS PUT INTO MAKING NATE GREY SEE MADYLENE PRYOR AS HIS MOTHER OVER JEAN THAN HAS EVER BEEN PUT INTO MAKING ROGUE AND KURT FEEL LIKE THEY'RE EVEN FRIENDS LET ALONE SIBLINGS AND I'M VERY MAD ABOUT IT!!!! EITHER GIVE ME WHAT I WANT OR CUT THE REINS AT LET ME DO WHATEVER!!!

I have a couple of OCs that get mentioned on occasion in my writing:

Cardinal Fabian Cromwell— he handles event planning, finances, and PR for the Ministry as a whole (the band has their own staff for that, he just handles the church side). He can be finicky and a bit rude at times, but he doesn’t mean to be. He’s “Terzo’s husband” in any HC posts that I write. He has a huge heart, you just have to be willing to do a little digging to get to it.

Salem— Fabian’s assistant and the true youngest Emeritus brother (though he doesn’t know that). He’s half human, half quintessence ghoul, but was raised by the ghouls in the Abbey given that at the time, ghoul and human relations were forbidden. This has since changed, but at the time he was born, Nihil knew he would be executed, and he was given to the ghouls to raise. He can be found doing fetch quests and other side missions throughout the church offices.

Meadow— an ftm earth/fire hybrid ghoul. He can usually be found assisting setup and tear down at shows. In some verses he’s Swiss’s mate and in others he’s Mountain’s, it just kind of depends on my mood. He’s very shy and rarely speaks up. He was originally summoned as a scribe, but was shuffled around to the band. He’s far too afraid of crowds to be on stage, despite the fact that he would make a skilled multighoul with the band, so he works behind the scenes instead.

I will not write:

R*pe/SA scenes, or anything surrounding that, unless it is far back in a character’s past and is being discussed as a past event.

“Hard kinks”. I’m asexual and struggle writing intimate scenes unless the planets align and bless me with the inspiration. That being said if you just want something simple on the smut scale, I’ll be willing to hold onto it until the mood strikes to write it.

Any kind of -ism or -phobia, unless it is a past event that is being discussed. I also, as a white person, am not the person to be writing and discussing traumas and experiences of people of color. There might be hints of homophobia or transphobia as past events a character has suffered, as I am part of the LGBT community and those communities are ones I specifically belong to, but I’m not comfortable writing about the experiences of a group that I will never be part of and will never know the struggles of.

Rather than doing the reasonnable thing and sleep after reading (again) the Raven serie by Patrick briggs, I came here looking for a fandom and saw many posts shitting on the Mercy Thompson and Alpha&Omega verses, saying the female leads are written in a mysoginistic driven kinda way 'cause every other female character is just shitty and exists to uplift the FL and they have no female friends

And I'm. Like. What the hell? Really?

I never thought so (compared to a lot of other things I have read)

So let me think about it for a sec (I could sleep but I'm stupid)

Anna

Anna is friend with her neighbour first, and they have a lovely relationship. Then obv, she leaves and she develops a nice friendship with Sage (before you know what happens). With Leah, it's an interesting bound 'cause they tolerate each other kind of and have many feelings for one another but whatever happens they are from the same pack and they fought alongside one another and protect each other asses. Also Anna is friend with Moira (I think that's her name, you know the blind white adorable witch). We don't see her a lot, but everytime they interact it's full of love and respect. And there's this really cool FBI agent!!! They have a funny friendship full of "I trust you even though I know you are balantly lying to me"

So yeah Anna is an odd one, but I like it. We need shit to happen to her after all, and it offers a nice contrast to have this therapeutic wolf in a bloodful world / society. (we have stories of all those other big bad wolves in each tome as well as on the novels)

Mercy

Now about mercy : it's true we don't see her have many women friends, which she adresses herself. She mentions Charlene (is that her name? From uni) and we do meet this other lady in the fourth (?) book

Anyway, I mostly remember this dialogue with honey where they actually realise they are friends. It's a special friendship since they are both traumatised from life and honey doesn't know how to deal with this wild coyote that braucht havoc in her pack. Kinda the same with the other lady wolves : they react the same way the male one does at first, and soften a bit here, a bit there. The only time Auriel is being awful is because of her personal problems (which are explored, even a little bit).

Then there's the ex (can't remember her name) who is obv a trope, but I enjoy how she's dealt with. She's not just a threat, she's a victim and the mother of a teen that mercy loves. She is a step mom and a protector and Mercy has to deal with all of this a'd it's not easy but she does it.

So anyway, I'm not gonna name them all and analyse it 'cause I should be sleeping but, what I remembered with the dialogue between honey and Mercy is that : we get it all from mercy' s pov, who thinks she's shitty when it comes down to relationships.

And Mercy isn't all knowing, she's wrong about a lot of things, and this is one of them. If you don't like her... Well... Too bad? She's the narrator deal with it ig??

Anyway, Mercy is a dumb dumb who gets respected by a lot of people and who gets so ma'y shit storms that we mostly follow her internal ordeal of her trying to not fucking die by the hands of yet another evil mf being who decided she looked like their best next lunch.

I'd like to see more of her interactions with the lady wolves member of the pack, to hear about her foster parents (and I don't know about the guys and gal's who wrote that her bio mom was also a way to uplift mercy, but like, her mom rocks, don't look down on her, she's so cool! And Mercy knows it, she does say how cool her mom is! Did we read the same books?)

The notification reads. This is odd. Nobody ever sends Kara any messages on this account, for the sole reason that it doesn't have much followers.

It was Nia's idea initially. She's told Kara to buy herself a journal. She keeps one herself, where she writes all the dreams she doesn't know how to interpret yet.

"You should write down whatever it is and let it lie there for a while you know?"

Kara thought about it, had mulled it over and over in her head. A journal is indeed a great idea. An outlet of sorts. But the thing is, a journal is too private. If Kara wrote in a journal the only person who would ever read it would be herself.

Kara didn't want that. Kara hungered for an audience. She wanted to write and put it out there, out in the world where somebody will maybe one day read it and come to her--tell her, "Me, too. Me, too."

She wanted to write and be read by people.

And so, the journal idea became the Instagram poetry account idea.

Nia and her sister are the only two people in her life who knows about it. That's why she is genuinely shocked when she reads the notification.

By the time, she's collected enough courage to open the app.

There have been more than 10 notifications. First, was the follow, next was a series of likes and then finally the message.

Kara clicked on the profile first.

It was a bookstagram account it turns out. There was only the username display, kieran. All in lowercase. No location, no bio, no nothing. The icon was of a single, black, loopy 'K' on white parchment.

The feed was of book covers, pages, spines and some quotes here and there.

The thing that Kara noticed about it though was how sad everything looked, once she's looked at it all in one grid.

It looks beautiful but melancholy.

She opens the message.

"I don't usually do this but...I just have to tell you that, your poetry has more of an impact than you will ever know. Thank you making me feel like I'm not alone. Thank you for sharing your words."

It was signed with a single heart and a 'k'.

And that's when it hits Kara.

Kara writes out a reply.

I'm out there.

I'm out there, in the world. And somebody is reading my words. They're reading what I wrote and it made them feel something.

"Thank you for taking the time to write those kind words to me. I hope you know you've made me want to write now more than ever. Thank you."

She added a heart at the end too. Kara didn't check her phone for the rest of the day.

They didn't reply it turns out. Kara tries not to feel too disappointed at that and tries to go on with her life.

Although, two weeks later after their first interaction, Kara posts two new poems, she discovers that kieran didn't stop reading.

Kara would usually get a like or a comment of a single heart then and again, and if she's lucky they'll comment a 'Beautiful.' underneath one of Kara's longer poems.

Kara collects all those crumbs and keeps it close to her heart.

Kara reads the message at 7 am, it was sent at 3:36 am. It isn't till she's halfway through, that her groggy mind realizes that they must've been drunk when they sent her this.

There's a twinge of worry in her chest, so she writes.

"I'm glad I made your night. And I don't want to overstep, but I think you were drunk when you sent this. I hope you're alright today. Drink lots of water! Thank you for the kind words."

She doesn't check her phone for the rest of the day.

Kara's knee-deep in Snapper's column assignment when her phone pings.

"Don't worry, you didn't overstep. I think you're the kindest person I've ever met."

Kara can't help the feeling of concern when she reads the message. Imagine thinking an Instagram poet who you've interacted with, two times in total, is the kindest person you've ever met. Never mind the fact that she's the Instagram poet.

Kara feels intrigued by this person.

Maybe it's because they're making her feel important. Maybe it's because Kara doesn't know who they are and the mystery appeals to her. Maybe it's because with them, Kara isn't anything. She's just a poet.

Maybe it's all of those or maybe it's none of those reasons at all.

Nevertheless, Kara sees her fingers fly across the keypad before she can even realize what she's doing.

"And you, IG user kieran, I think are the most interesting person I've ever met : )"

She puts her phone facedown on her desk.

Kara stands up from her station, walks around, pokes her head into Snapper's office, asks if he needs anything, gets yelled at, bothers Nia, walks around the entire bullpen, refills her tumbler, sits back down on her desk.

Kara lunges for her phone.

"Interesting huh?"

Just that. Just that and nothing else, yet it makes Kara feel like she's being observed, judged, weighed.

"Your feed is beautiful, your books. What I wouldn't give to get a peek in that beautiful mind of yours."

Kara exits the app, her thumb gliding through the screen so fast, it's a miracle it didn't break under the pressure.

She stands up from her desk and does a whole 'nother round.

Kara takes a deep breath before opening the message. She doesn't even know why she's nervous.

"my mind is a lot of things, but i doubt beautiful is one of them."

What does she mean by that? Well, Kara guesses, everyone's brain is a mess right? She's pretty certain she's fucked up herself in more ways than she even knows.

So that's what she says.

"Everybody's a mess i think. Doesn't mean they're not beautiful."

Kara waits and waits and waits.

The reply doesn't come.

Life goes on, her IG account gains more followers, her poems get stacked upon each other each week.

She always notices which ones kieran likes though.

They never message each other again.

And then, that one fateful day comes—Kara falls in love.

She meets Lena and Kara falls.

She's so caught up with living in the real world with Lena, that sometimes she doesn't even have the time to write poems anymore.

Why would she? When she's living a brand new love poem each day she wakes up to Lena by her side.

One night, Kara is putting on her pajamas, and Lena is taking a picture of some book in their bed, her hair in a bun, big nerdy glasses perched on her nose.

Kara is in the middle of climbing into bed when Lena asks her, "Hey, have you ever read poetry and felt like it was speaking to you directly. As if the poet wrote it with you in mind??"

Quietly, Kara answers, "Yeah."

Immediately, Kara's head travels through all the snippets of conversations she's had with kieran.

All her IG posts, the one account, the one thing that Lena does not know about.

"Why?" Kara follows-up.

Lena's sat, leaning into the pillows, her phone in her hand.

"There's this- you know what? Why don't I just show you? You'll get what I mean, when you read it."

Lena shows Kara her phone screen and Kara freezes.

Her entire collection of verse all lit up in Lena's phone.

"I-" Kara doesn't know what to say. And Lena notices, of course, she would.

Lena always notices. ,

"Kara?" She asks. "Is there something wrong?"

"I wrote that." Kara lets the words hang in between them.

She meets Lena's eyes, reads the shock there.

Kara grabs her phone from the nightstand and opens her IG app--shows it wordlessly to Lena.

Lena takes the phone gently from her hands, flicks up and down for a couple of minutes.

Kara feels like something important is going to happen. Everything feels to quiet. Lena is too quiet.

Lena hands Kara her phone back, still not speaking.

And then, Lena turns back to her phone, swipes a couple of times.

"Come here," Lena whispers. "Take a look."

Kara's eyes land on the screen.

Cyber Security (Elliot Alderson)

Description: An online ad leads him to you, though in reality he has little interest in your ad. What interests him is how you accidentally doxxed yourself and how oblivious you are to that fact.

Notes: idrk what to say about this one its one of those things that i wrote at midnight after almost falling asleep to a fantasy and then realizing it could work as a fic. like i did this same thing with ‘close your eyes’ that one was also a before-bed-to-get-to-sleep fantasy. this is also not a particularly romantic interaction, though it can be read as such WC: 2.2k

Sweat drenched his sheets, bathing him in the cold wind that breezed past his only air conditioner lodged in a nearby window. He stared blankly upwards, half shivering and half overheated, as he once again found himself in a familiar predicament—the practice of sleep.

It was no secret he had trouble calming himself down, and that aspect of himself reached into the evening, as well. He already downed three melatonin pills hours earlier, along with smoking a joint that should’ve put him to bed. Unsurprisingly, that did not work.

“Xanax,” he mumbled to himself, hearing it bounce back from empty walls. “Need to get xanax.”

In the meantime he raised himself to his feet, padding across freezing floors to his computer. With a click of a button the white screen buzzed to life, shining bright onto his sleep-heavy eyes, that did their best to acclimatize to the sudden change.

Hypnotization—strange as it might’ve been—had worked a couple times before. Not all the time, but decently enough to give it a try. He had work in the morning and he didn’t need to be more miserable than usual, especially since he hadn’t slept almost the entire weekend.

The blinker flickered for a moment before his fourth finger slammed down on enter, the last step in calculated movements. What popped up first was a video titled [ SLEEP HYPNOSIS ] 8 Hour Loop with a screencap of a spinning black and white screen. Below that, however, was something he hadn’t seen before—a YouTube video titled exactly what he’d typed, lacking the caps just as he had. The title screen appeared to be some sort of poorly-drawn painting.

Curiosity overcame his hazy, aching head, and he clicked, finding a playlist of videos containing what could be the titles of songs, along with several different poorly-drawn title screens.

The first video began to play before he could realize it. What he first noticed was it was bereft of ads—that meant the publisher made no money off the album.

Captions had been manually added by, he assumed, you. The author. There were three views on the video, no comments, and no likes, leaving few other options.

Maybe it was the melody—maybe the lyrics, who talked of a world plagued by aristocrats. But he found his eyelids heavy, dropping dark eyelashes in his vision that blurred the screen. By the third song, reciting verses of an Islamic poem, he was slouched in his seat.

He slid down to the floor, crawling his way back to flop onto his bed. The music continued to play till the first ad popped up, at which time he opened his eyes, seeing a music video from Katy Perry, at which time he promptly reached over and unplugged his computer. He wasn’t sure which cord he pulled out, but the screen still went black. With that, he just barely sneaked into his covers, dozing until the morning.

It was far too easy to get information on you. Your full name was stated clearly in your youtube bio, alongside several different social media tags leading to instagram, tumblr, and facebook.

Facebook alone provided him the means to your address, and he didn’t even have to go looking for it. Your most recent post was an ad, searching for someone good with computers to aid you in your recording process, which you noted as ‘dismal’.

Are you fucking kidding me? He thought to himself, reading the ad once more.

Your address, your real, physical address was stated as the place you wanted to meet those interested in helping you. On the internet. You had doxxed yourself after less than a year of being online.

Okay, he thought, clicking on your listed email. Someone needs to be taught a lesson.

Three days later—after about two weeks of listening to your echoing voice every night—you replied, sending a cheerful email detailing when you would be available to meet him. After shooting a short message back, the date was organized.

Two more days and he was standing at your doorstep, his neck craned upwards as he scanned your tall, narrow home squished between two other apartments. He just barely knocked before the black door swung open, revealing a familiar face belonging to a stranger. Elliot was dressed in his black hoodie and jeans, a stark difference to your long, colorful robes, coming out of a sort of fantasy world.

“Hi,” he said, his voice grating with how low and quiet he kept it.

“Hello,” you said with a smile that did not match his hunched posture. “Are you Mr. Alderson?”

“Elliot,” he corrected, his chin just barely raising to meet you. “Elliot Alderson. Elliot works.”

“Alright,” you said, nodding. “Come inside? I was just making tea. Do you like tea? Or do you prefer coffee?”

“I... I’m fine, thanks,” he said softly, scooting past you when you opened the door wide enough for him to enter. He sucked in a breath as his chest brushed yours.

Your home was modern—far fancier than Elliot’s own apartment, with large windows flanked by soft grey curtains. A small, upright piano was in the corner of the living room, set upon a reed mat lined with Korean symbols. The couch was clinical, made of a sort of black plastic leather that matched the grey skies beyond the window panes.

He sat down, shifting his feet closer together as his fingers dug into his palms, continuing to scan the room in its’ entirety until you returned with your own tea.

“What kind of experience do you have? School counts,” you said, setting your cup down on a tiny plate whose decorations matched your teacup.

“I’ve been... experimenting, with computers, since I was around 9,” he said, mumbling the words out as his shoulders hunched awkwardly down. “Have a job at a cyber security firm. Started a while back.”

“You still have that job?”

“Yeah,” he said with a small nod. “Jus’ thought this would be... fun.”

The dead look on his face indicated no humor whatsoever, but you took his word as it was.

“How’d you find the ad I put out?”

“I... I listened to your music,” he answered honestly for once. “Helps me fall asleep.”

“Oh,” you said, clearly taken aback. Your face grew warm as you glanced away with wide eyes. “I’m glad I could help.”

“You’re not very good with technology, though,” he said in his usual low, grating voice.

“Not really,” you chuckled sheepishly. “That’s why I put out the ad -“

“No, not that,” he interrupted you. “You put your physical address on the internet. You doxxed yourself. Do you even know how dangerous that is?”

The lyrics of your songs pointed towards a kind of brilliance, balanced against emotions felt thoroughly on pages and screens. It didn’t match your actions at all.

“What’s doxxing?” You asked.

Elliot had to physically stop himself from sighing and leaving.

“You want everyone to know where you, a minor celebrity, live?”

“I’d hardly call myself a -“

“I could’ve been a murderer,” he said, reaching into his bag.

He looked you in the eye as he pulled out a gun, clicking on the safety before he pointed it at you.

“This is how easy it would be to kill you.”

As expected, you stiffened at the sight of the iron barrel, your fingers withdrawing to your chest. Your lips pursed as you met his gaze once more.

“Please put the gun down,” you whispered, your voice cracking.

He did as you said, resting the gun on the table.

“That’s a hell of a way to start an interview, Mr. Alderson,” you said quietly. “Please get out of my house.”

His heart sank. What had he expected? For you to fall to your knees and sing to him as he desired you to do? He threatened you with a gun to teach you a lesson, and you reacted accordingly. Calmer than others would.

Elliot stood on shaky legs, sliding the pistol into his backpack before he zipped it up. Throwing the pack over his shoulder, he swallowed through a tight throat, shuffling as he delayed his departure.

“Keep safe from people like me,” he said in a strained mumble. “Take that ad down. Meet people from the internet only in inhabited, public areas.”

You tapped your fingernails on the table for a moment, chewing on your bottom lip. Suddenly you stood, tugging on his sweatshirt sleeve to get him to face you, instead of staring at his feet.

“Alright. If you’re really so good at the internet -“

He ignored your incorrect grammar.

“- and... if you actually do want to help me with my songs,” your tone softened, “then you’ll be able to find my real name, not my stage name. If you do.. I’ll hire you.”

“Alright,” he said monotone, knowing the battle was already won.

Even though he knew your name already, he turned away and left to his apartment, immediately going to work on figuring out everything he could about you. If you willingly still offered him the job after that, he knew it would take a lot to scare you off. He could impress you.

It was, after all, the only thing he was good at.

Two days later he showed up at your apartment again, quietly thanking you when you let him in. The clean floors and walls remained unchanged since his last visit, and you led him to the same table, sitting him down on the same seat.

“Your name is (Y/N) (L/N),” he started with. You already appeared to be surprise. “You grew up near LA and you’ve had a chronic illness all your life. At eleven you saw your first therapist.. that must’ve been when you first got diagnosed with depression... and anxiety.”

“Killer duo,” you muttered.

“Your parents split when you were thirteen, which came at the same time as your dog, Penelope, died. Or... sometime that year. When was that... 1997?”

“1999,” you said quietly.

“Your mom homeschooled you,” he continued. “That’s probably why you don’t know how computers work. Rather eclectic, in a.. boring way... an ex-Amish, right?”

You nodded and his heartbeat tripled. Everything was right thus far despite a two year difference in his guesstimate of your life’s timeline.

“Then there was your dad... logger in the Redwood forests. Burly guy. Not a great man, from what I saw,” he said.

“He was fine,” you said with a small shrug as you looked away. “Didn’t ever hurt me, or anything.”

“Abuse isn’t always physical,” he said faster than he could think, dizzied by his own memories playing behind his eyes.

“I know,” you murmured.

You went silent, so he continued, hoping to pry more precious words from you.

“Your favorite color is yellow,” he said, leaning closer to you. “On Valentine’s you get chocolate strawberries, and on easter you get kinder eggs.”

Nothing.

“You studied mythology as a kid, and you made paintings of the forest you lived in with your mom. Santa Cruz mountains, I think.”

“Yeah,” you said. “I miss the forests.”

“I know. You want to visit Ireland again because it’s a land of faeries and moss, it’s a breeding ground for your song lyrics.”

“How did you find all this out?” You finally asked.

“You use the same password on everything,” he said, though that was far from the actual answer. “Your web browser tracks all your movements and you don’t try to stop it, or hide ads, or stay away from sketchy websites. Your parents aren’t much better, either.”

You chuckled, shaking your head as you brought your hand to massage your brow.

“You’re way too smart to be helping me,” you said with soft laughter, blushing with your smile.

“It’s better than working for E Corp,” he said, huffing out a laugh that was hardly humored.

“E corp?”

“My.. uh, place of work,” he brushed off his slip. “My point is... I’d rather work with you and do easy work than work with my current fucking coworkers.”

You laughed, truly and fully this time, curling into a little ball that shook with the force of it. Your feet tucked into your tiny chair, making you even smaller.

“Bad people or just annoying?”

“Stupid,” he chuckled. “Don’t let me wear my sweatshirt.”

“Ooh, now it’s my turn,” you suddenly interrupted him, earning a strange look. “I’ve noticed things about you, too. I couldn’t learn anything off the computer, but you, you have anxiety too. Probably some childhood trauma.. maybe a dissociative disorder of sorts or a form of PTSD. Your jacket is like your home, and... you have sensory issues. Few types of fabric, don’t like to be touched, if I had to guess I’d say you might be autistic.”

“Blunt,” he said after a full minute’s silence.

“Do you mind?” You asked.

“No, not really.”

“Good. Then you’re hired,” you said with a smile, extending your hand for him to shake. “If you still want the job, of course.”

He watched you with evident apprehension, but took your hand after much thought, shaking with a firm grip.

“When do I start?”

Fair warning that I may come off as harsh in some answers, which isn’t my intention. People can rp however they like and I don’t have to vibe with it. Do whatever the fuck you want, as long as you don’t expect me to do it.

WHAT’S YOUR OTP FOR YOUR MUSE?:

See, that question is hard, because I have well over twenty muses. That, and I don’t see things as OTPs, much like I don’t have best friends. They’re all valid. Though, I suppose Telendil and @ofheroesandstories‘ Jackson are an OTP, or at least as close as I’d get to calling something an OTP. It’s an ancient ship.

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?:

It really depends on the characters. I have muses well over a thousand years old. Sometimes, I don't really think about age with them, as long as everyone is over 20 years old. Preferably, I'd have people less than 15 years apart in age, but people can make their own decisions once they hit 25 or something. Even so, there are muses of mine with whom I would be uncomfortable if people tried to get them in a ship with people below a certain age. Sigma, for example, won't want to date anyone below 31. Anyone in their twenties trying to get in his pants is uncomfortable, because he's not into it at all.

At any rate, I let fully adult characters decide for themselves what they are interested in and won’t police anyone on what the maximum age of the characters they can be into should be. Even so, over 20 is the age another muse should be at which most of my muses may be okay with dating them. I prefer not to ship with any muse below that age, seeing as most of my muses are over the 25. My youngest is 23, not counting synths. 

Anyway, again, it’s largely up to which character one is trying to ship with. Sanguine, for example, doesn’t really care how only a mortal is and he is ancient. Logan feels awkward with anyone too close in age to his sister, which is 18, so anyone who is 20 is already kind of weird. 23 is fine though. That’s a 9 year age gap. Aidan prefers people in their thirties, but would only be uncomfortable if a guy below 23 or a guy above 57 or something tried to get with him. The upward scale is larger than the downward scale. Sigma's age gap acceptance is about 30 years, in either direction, but he would prefer people closer to his age. Telendil prefers people of about 40 (or the elven equivalent thereof). Sometimes, he’s fine with people in their twenties (or the elven equivalent thereof), but he doesn’t expect it to last, in all honesty. 

I know some people are super strict about age gaps, and I think that’s really silly, because there is no golden standard and I have seen people go as far as to say any age gap over the ten years is bad. A 40 year old can choose to date a 52 year old. They are grown ass adults. 

ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING?:

I ship chemistry, so that's really all that is required, and that means we need interactions. If some talking ooc or in character interactions are too selective for people, I really don't know what to tell them. People who come up to me and try to push a ship too soon just need to accept that I will go at it platonically before anything else. Luckily, most do, and understand that it possibly won’t change. If you want to go on about how hot your muse think one of mine is, at least establish with me first if I’m open to the possibility. 

In short: If your character is hot for Sigma but I state there is no way he will reciprocate, do not come into my IMs to say how sexy he is to your muse. He is 62. Let him rest. It’s fucking weird. Let me rest, too. 

HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY’RE CONSIDERED NS/FW?:

Again, I have over 40 muses and I don't really ship much that doesn't involve my ocs outside rp. Well, save for Jyggalag and Magnus, since those are both canon muses. I usually have ships between my muses. They aren’t regarded as canon to the blog in rp interactions, safe for Maoren and Rahn, who are always mates and are only available for poly ships. They can be regarded as canon in certain situations, but that is dependent on the mun I am writing with. I suppose, I ship Telendil platonically with Boone in his Fallout NV verse, too.

Does Molag Bal and anybody count? He just shouldn’t be shipped with anybody, really. I don’t make the rules. The entire TES community agrees. I don’t think I have many NOTPs. I can’t name any from the top of my head. Most ships depend on execution.

By literally going "Hey, can we ship?" Even if our muses have been getting close and we've been screaming about it? No. Outside of that? Yeah, you probably should ask before trying to ship. Confirmation is needed either way, but one can be through just saying the muse has feelings and then we yell about it, and the other has to be actually pitched and discussed.

HOW DO YOU USUALLY PLOT WITH OTHERS, DO YOU GIVE INPUT OR LEAVE MOST WORK TOWARDS YOUR PARTNER?:  i try to map out some basic info abt their characters that i otherwise don’t know from their bio or verses and try to pick out points of confrontation or similarities to expand on with giselle that can be used as points for like a starter to happen. its either that or sometimes i have really stupid ideas i just toss out there like ‘LMAO THEYRE BREAKING SHIT AT DISNEYLAND’ and go buck wild from there if the other person is down. i also always try to warn people or get a gauge for what subjects to avoid and steer clear of considering that giselle is a bit of a Freak(tm) and will say and do bad things.

To start of. It’s kind of obvious you haven’t read my rules in the slightest. Specifically because I state the following in my rules in the first section might I add:

If you don’t like how I run MY account. Then go. Leave. It’s literally stated in my rules right there. I don’t have time for people like you. In fact, I don’t even wish to befriend people like you who act like an entitled brat. What makes you think you’re entitled to my time at all? News flash hun. You aren’t. You aren’t entitled to my time in any way shape or form. That’s like saying every stranger you walk past MUST say hello to you. The real world doesn’t work like that at all. You are NOT entitled to my time. You are NOT entitled to write with me. You are NOT entitled to befriend me. You are NOT entitled to receive anything from me in the end. That is life. You are NOT entitled to anything from me or anyone else.

Now lets address your message and I’ll do so by looking at it in parts. Mainly the parts that greatly stick out to me.

Now. I don’t consider myself stuck up in the slightest. Some people might think I am due to howI run my account but then again we have different views on people and that is life and it happens. But let me elaborate as to why I am private and to an extent selective. I am private and selective because I don’t wish to clutter my dash with people I don’t want to write with or see myself interacting with at all. It’s why I prefer to interact with mutuals only and am picky with who I follow at times. 

I used to not do this and write with everyone. But I got overwhelmed. On one account I had 1.3k followers and starter calls could get like 20-30 likes sometimes and it just wasn’t doable. I couldn’t do it and people would get mad at me if I didn’t write them a starter. It took a massive toll on me mentally and emotionally when I ran my accounts like this in the past.

I am private for my own health and safety. So I’m not overwhelmed by threads and so I don’t have to force myself to write with fandoms I don’t know/aren’t a fan of. So I don’t feel overwhelmed with interactions and stress when I can’t interact with everyone who wants to write with me. That’s just a few of the reasons I am private. I can’t speak for everyone but generally people are private and selective for many different reasons. People have different experiences during their years of roleplaying and because of that they become private for many different reasons. 

Me becoming private and selective was due to my own health and safety in the end.

So, from what I gather from this. You’re basically saying that ‘people get to choose to interact with me if they want to but I myself can’t choose who I want to interact with’. Like correct me if I am wrong but from what I am gathering, that’s exactly what you’re implying. Implying I don’t get to have a choice in who I wish to interact with. 

Fun fact. That is highly toxic behaviour and view points my dear anon. If you think that, think that it’s okay for you choose to follow me but then state I can’t choose if I want to follow or interact with you, that I should interact with you just because you show interest! Then you shouldn’t be rping in the first place because guess what? People can pick who they wish to interact with. 

That’s like saying to someone you meet ‘I have chosen to be your friend but you don’t get to decide if you want to be my friend or not you are my friend and that is that’. Like do you see how unrealistic that is? See how toxic that is? No one would be your friend if you did that! As I’ve already said. You’re NOT entitled to my time. No one is. And at the same time, I’m NOT entitled to peoples time either. If people don’t want to follow me back or interact with me because they aren’t interested in who I write or how I run my account? That is fine as it is life. You aren’t going to interact with or want to interact with every rpier out there and every rpier out there isn’t going to interact with or want to interact with you.

So the continuation to the statement from above! Now with this part you’re saying that I CAN be selective with people? Only to go on and state I’m ignoring people before giving them a chance when I am being selective! My dear anon you have no idea what I do when I consider following someone so here is a break down because I look at every account as an equal if they follow me first. Same if I go looking through accounts and follow them first. So.  

I look at new followers when I get the opportunity as I am not here at all hours of the day and even then sometimes I’m too tired to read peoples information. In general I tend to skim bios and rules first. See how long they are. Sometimes I don’t have the ability to read a lot of information in one go so if there’s a lot of information I make note of the account to look back at once I’m able to read a lot of information in one go. I read rules and bios pages. Then verses and headcanon pages if you have them. If it’s a multi-muse I tend to read the bios on the muses I’m interested in interacting with and skim over other muses to see if there’s the chance to interact with them. Next. I look at your posts. I look at how you write your muse, to see your style of writing. I look at your ooc posts to see what you’re like as a person to see if you vague or complain about the rpc. I look to see if you’ve got drama and callout tags and see if you actively participate in stuff like that as well. I tend to not follow people who participate in a lot of drama or vague/complain about the rpc quite a bit because I don’t want that on my dash. If I am interested in interacting I will follow you or follow back. If not I will not follow you at all. I tend to not follow people who seem to ship with one particular muse for my own comfort as I don’t want to essentially become ship fodder.  If you write in a fandom I am not interested in or fond off I tend to not follow either. I also don’t follow if people don’t cut their rp posts because I don’t want my dash getting clogged by a thread that has like 20+ reblogs to it. 

I don’t ignore followers. I do look at them when I can. I’m not the fastest person at doing so but yeah. I do look at them and see if there is the possibility of interacting. I look at accounts and give each one a chance by looking at them all fairly and in the end decide if I WANT to follow them or not and interact with them.

So yeah anon. You’re right with I can be selective because it is my account. I get to do what I want with it. And if I don’t follow you, then it either means I haven’t checked your account out or I don’t have an interest in following/interacting with you because of some of the following. And with how you are acting, I don’t even want to interact with you in the slightest.

Well, the surefire way is to message me.  I… can be a little slow with responding.  Some days I want to chat and some days I want to write and doing both at the same time can be hard because it throws off my focus.  But I’m always down to talk plots with people.  If we can find a way to make it work, then I’m all for it. (Which reminds me, I owe a couple of people message replies.  ^_^;  Very sorry!)

If you’re messaging me first, (especially if we’ve never RPed before) try to have a couple of generic ideas ready to throw at me.  (It’s not a requirement - just a nice thing to work off of.)  And don’t be discouraged if I shoot anything down.  It’s nothing personal, I promise. ^_^  It just means we need to find other ways to make things happen.  I’ve got one partner right now where it took us weeks of throwing ideas around before we settled on something that worked for both of us.

If we’ve RPed before and you were the last one to reply, but (for whatever reason) decided to drop the RP without talking to me, then come talk to me now.  There won’t be any hard feelings about it, I promise.  RPs get dropped for lots of reasons all the time.  I am big on talking and communication.  I think the RPC as a whole would function SO much better if people weren’t so afraid to talk to each other.  But yeah - if you don’t tell me you’re still interested in more RPs, I’ll assume that you’re not and leave things alone.

I’m not super confidant regarding sentence memes (as you can see from how few I’ve posted) but you’re welcome to send one in.  You can also go digging through my meme tag.  There are some other starter-ish things there.  All I ask is (if we haven’t RPed before) please don’t send in anything that suggests Gel already knows your muse.  RPs like that are very hard for me to write.  :-/

▲ : What sort of information do you like to see on someone’s role play page that helps you determine whether or not you would want to write with them?

A bio that’s more than just a small list of stats is nice but not necessary.  Doesn’t have to be a ton of paragraphs or anything.  Just enough to give me a general feel for the muse.  (It helps me with plotting.)  But if you’re willing to come to me and just talk about your muse, then that works, too. :)  I’m flexible.

Rules or Guidelines page.  Having this is a little more important to me.  I just like to know where I stand, and what may or may not be issues for the other person.  There ARE a few rules that are an automatic ‘deal-breakers’ for me.  I’m not sure I should say what they are because I don’t want to ruffle feathers, but if I see them, I generally won’t interact.  It’s nothing personal, just me doing what I can to protect myself from revisiting certain former situations.

Aside from that… I can’t think of anything?  A verses page is always nice to browse through, or if your muse has been around awhile, a timeline page is nice (and it’s something I need to add for Gelert…) but otherwise, I’m not all that picky.  ^_^

I am actually very adamant about the fact that none of my muses are me, or connected to me, in ANY way.  If I’m feeling upset, I don’t need or want a bunch of RPs where Gelert is upset, too.  If I’m angry about something, Gelert isn’t going to suddenly become angry, too.  What happens OOC in NO WAY reflects on IC interactions.  Likewise, if Gelert is angry about something IC, that doesn’t mean I’m angry about the same thing.  I am not my muse, and my muse is not me.  We are 100% separate entities.

And!  I just realized that question could be interpreted differently.  Oops?  I do gravitate towards characters that reflect bits of my personality.  With @humblestudentofbeauty it’s his gentle, artistic nature.  With @forgeofsedition, it’s his love for knowledge and the written word.  With Gelert it’s his trusting nature.  Gelert, like me, has been through a lot that doesn’t get talked about.  EVER.  Our experiences themselves are different, naturally, but we both came out of those things with our ability to trust still intact.  Thankfully.

1. poetry or prose 

Prose nowadays, but I used to write lot of free verse poetry in my day. Reading wise, I think it takes special mood and special poet to make me sit down and specifically read poetry, but at the same time - I tread song lyrics as poetry so it is something I surround myself with daily. Also, some of my favorite prose reads like a poetry of sorts and in a way, it’s something I aspire to.

3. Favorite character you’ve ever written

This is cruel and you know it. There’s no way I can pick. But from my earliest, still lasting OCs there is Leila, my edgelord girl who has been hurt too much, (I’ve had her for 10 years now, I think, and she deserves more writing than I’ve given her) followed by Elek, my blind rebellion leader, and Aiolia, his loyal right hand woman. (Previous brackets apply.)

And then there’s Elinor, whom I love deeply and I’ve written a lot. She was given chance to grow and extend her arms thanks to a friend and she’s someone I am actually proud of having created and someone who has made me write more than anyone else, made me grow. So, she’s kind of like a favorite, my hermit crab bby with golden troubled heart, but I love others too much to dismiss them.

Then there’s Genie, who is perhaps a character I’ve shared the most with my friends and it has made her grown and blossom into something beyond my expectations. She’s definitely the gentlest and sunshiniest character I’ve had on this scale and she is embedded with all this love and ideas I’ve received and you personally have made her beyond precious to me.

So, uh, that’s the top bunch, but I have hundreds (literally) other precious OCs I wish I had had time to explore more.

5. favorite character trait to write

Judging by my character choices it’s ‘broken and sassy, but cares so deeply for people they’d literally die or set world on fire for them without hesitation’. Or something along those lines.

7. biggest weakness in writing

Everythiiiiiiiing. I’m not even kidding. But I think that boils down to my insecurity and inability to just let things go and flow, to just write.

9. favorite trope

Enemies to friends to lovers. That’s that, probably. Though I’m crazy for tropes in general.

11. author you look up to

Regina Ezera, a Latvian writer, Silvana de Mari, writer of my favorite series. There’s probably more but those I may have only read one book of so it may be a little too early to say if I look up to. Besides writing itself, Tolkien, King and Rowling for their dedication and latter two especially for standing upright and fighting on when everything was falling apart and telling them it’s not worth writing.

That is no line, you say, gaping at the paragraphs. It’s true, I just.... couldn’t pick one, but if I had to, I guess the first one itself works.

Fantasy, always. Medieval, high fantasy, futuristic, modern... You name it. And with side of romance, preferably.

17. first person, second person, or third person

I used to be such a strictly third person person, you’d not believe it. A snob, really. But now I really, really love first person as well and have been stunned by second person stories, to point of tears, though I still do not think I’d write so myself. My compromise is present tense, deep pov third person.

19. multiple protagonists or just one protagonist

POV changes are what I live for and character interactions/growth as well, so multiple.

21. longest piece (word count) you’ve ever written

Good question, I guess I should not count it together, but I am way too lazy to go over many separate pieces to word-weight them, so I’ll just say Crystal World story (the one Elinor hails from). I think... That’s good 100-200k words there at this point.

23. how to deal with writer’s block

I don’t. /ugly crying I mean, the closest I come to is just putting on music and squeezing out few sentences for this and that, when I’m inspired, until something shifts and I am free. It’s been a year or two since last time, though.

25. planning out the book before writing, or just writing it on the go

My friend, if I could write a book... Wow, yeah. Haha. I mean, I think best way is somewhere between. Make an outline of cornerstones and let it unfold in-between, and as it goes onward, set more and more of these markers to tighten the flow.

27. picking character names before writing or after

Before. I cannot even start to write their bio if I don’t have their name and vague image of them in my head, like I get all knotty and just can’t. I can plan a little bit about them, but it’s one of first things I must get done.

29.multiple different characters or just a few 

That’s a hard choice, because it depends how long the story it is - do you have time and space to develop all those different, many characters or they’ll just remain a backdrop (though those characters are needed to), maybe you should just focus on a core bunch and truly give them spotlight and everything they deserve. It... really depends on everything, even genre.

31. rhymed poetry or free verse

Free verse with occasional rhymes. (I mean, it really depends, but that’s the way me & my favorite poems and lyrics usually roll.)

why's ichigo freaking out so much about uryu knowing he's gay? it says he is on his bio.

Okay tbh, this is an excellent question since Ichigo’s been having an existential crisis for the past few days. The answer is simple really, but I’ll explain it a little more in depth. In simple terms: he’s still in the closet. 

‘ But Kari! ’ you might shout. ‘ It’s on his bio! He’s already had a boyfriend for a year on this blog! Anons call him out constantly for it! You have gay icons! ’

All fair enough points. First, let me point out that the bio is for the purposes of my fellow muns to get a feel for my characters, not for their muses to automatically know all the info on the page. So yeah, the bio argument is out because while the muns know this fact on how I portray Ichigo, their muses do not. 

Second lets go to the gay icons and the anons. I’m going to put this simply and say that the icon stylization does not affect his interactions whatsoever. It’s not like other muses can tell he’s surrounded by a ring of fire with my normal icons. Furthermore with the anons: all anons exist as meta interactions unless stated otherwise. They are my characters breaking the fourth wall and interacting with the audience and often times dealing with knowledge across verses. Because of this, anon interactions don’t affect his verse ‘canons’ on this blog.

Finally there’s the subject of his boyfriend, Ogihci. Majority of Ichigo and Shiro’s relationship has literally taken place within the confines of Ichigo’s bedroom. They don’t go on normal dates and majority of the world can’t even see Shiro. All in all, their relationship exists almost entirely between the two of them. Actually, the only people who have interacted with them as a couple are Ishida, an inactive Masaki, and several of their twins. In other words: their relationship is almost a secret despite how prominent it is on my blog. 

In fact, aside from those aforementioned muses, the only people Ichigo has ever mentioned anything about his sexuality to are Skylar (in a joke) and an Ulquiorra. So in this verse with Ishida now, without any boyfriend to give anyone any clue about his orientation, Ichigo is almost completely in the closet. He’s never really had an in depth conversation about his orientation and honestly? He struggles with it more than a little bit— that’s part of the reason he hasn’t slept with Shiro yet despite having dated for a year now.

It’s reasonable for him to be confused and more than a little alarmed. He isn’t an overly open person and he already gets harassed enough based on his appearance, he doesn’t need to be any more different from the rest of society than he already is. He doesn’t want them to have more stones to throw at him. So yeah, he’s going to wonder a bit on how Uryu knew and who else might know about him being gay despite him still being in the closet.
