             basil wants to be happy about jiwoo’s words, but there’s something so inherently bittersweet in them that he can’t bring himself to celebrate a small victory like this. like jiwoo admitting out loud that basil is here to help him. there’s still a ghost of a smile on his face, but he simply slides closer and places a tender hand over jiwoo’s. the last thing basil wants is for physical touch to drive his brother away, but he’s going to give it a shot this one time. it gets exhausting sometimes, handling jiwoo with kid gloves. for once, though, it feels like they’re finally leveled with one another.

           “ everything i do for you, i do out of love  .   ” basil’s voice is soft and low. comforting. the same voice he uses with mingi when the human begins to work himself up. he probably sounds like their Father. “ i’m here no matter what happens, okay jiwoo ? even when you’re angry with me   .   ”
