the villagers of kakariko spot the once-royal highness emerging from the elder’s household, moving stiltedly as to awkwardly hover around the raised patio. helpless, they try not to mind the sheikah passersby sparing them an awed glance --- the last time they were here, they were glowing in a tattered, bloody dress ( which, as well as one could expect, caused an amassed alarm among the second busiest village in hyrule. )
they want to rebuild hyrule, they really do. that was the bare minimum of their responsibilities after surviving the tragic destruction of their longstanding nation... but such an arduous task did not have to mean reviving the royalty that once presided over the country, did it ? “ the people wouldn’t want this strange witch suddenly claiming to be their ruler, ” zelda told the elder as much, and then more selfishly thinking ‘ there is nothing left to rule over. they are happy without me. '
understandably, impa took such a monumental offense to this notion that zelda gingerly walked out of the room to escape the tension in the air. they didn’t even stop to listen to impa’s reasons.
they startle when they meet another face so dangerously close as they turn. ah, it’s just paya . the sheikah people are always so surreptitious when they move about --- in a brief state of whimsy, zelda thinks of how delightful it would be to study what properties make them so, but now, they can only sigh, hoping that paya isn’t here to collect them or send them away. “ ...i’ve upset your grandmother, haven’t i ? ”
