And right he was, that familiar voice sending a chill down Gundham's spine despite having thought himself prepared to hear it. Fighting back a cough, his lungs suddenly filled with smoke from a harsh inhale of fear surprise, the cigarette was quickly snubbed out against the concrete ledge of the roof with a flicker of ash and cinder into the air.

Breathing out the remaining smoke in his lungs, the butt was set to the side as arms came back to a resting cross in front of the breeder. He didn't turn, didn't do much anything other than stare down at the ashen marks his cigarette had left with brows knit together. "...Why...are you apologizing? Is it not I that overstepped?" A genuine question, this whole...whatever this was, being entirely Gundham's fault in his mind. He had pushed where he knew he shouldn't have, and Kazuichi had acted in kind. As far as he was concerned, there was nothing to apologize for.

Still, Gundham beckoned the mechanic closer with a wave of his hand, an invitation to stand beside him if he so pleased. "Of course, I believe I owe you as much."

There was a moment of silence, where the mechanic stood at the doorway, his lips nervously pursed shut. He had… no clue how to start. He had no clue what it was he wanted to say, despite this mess being the one thing wrecking his mind day and night since that incident in the garage. No matter how hard he tried to ignore it, to avoid thinking too hard about it, to just… hope it would pass, the guilt kept wringing his heart. Even now, with the cold sweat he could feel on his hands, wishing he was anywhere else, wishing he could run away and hide until this mess somehow sorts itself out, it was… guilt, that kept him in place.

He owed Gundham this much. After everything they’ve been through, after the trust the other had given him, he… he hurt the other, right where he knew the other was vulnerable. It’s fucked up.

He fucked up.

“…Hey,” he called, quietly, forcing himself to close the door behind him so he wouldn’t bolt away, but his hands still held onto the doorknob behind him, fidgeting with it to keep himself grounded. There was another pause, as he tried to stabilize his voice, eyes falling down to the ground. “I-I’m sorry.” His voice still came out shaky. “I…” His whole body felt shaky. “A-about… the other day, I mean. I’m… I’m sorry.” He didn’t want to talk about this. “Would, u-uh… would you, h-hear…” His hold on the doorknob behind him tightened. He didn’t want to talk about this. He really didn’t want to talk about this. “…W-would you hear me out, for a bit?”
