I like to think that now and again, Shanks will get phantom pain and itches. It's what included when you lost an arm. However, to remedy it is to drink. It happened to be a lot worse when it was still a fresh wound. But now it happens to be a monthly thing. An ache, sometimes a reminder, sometimes wondering what Luffy is doing and how he's faring. And sometimes with that drink, he silently raises his drink to Luffy and his crew.
