He feels like he spends much of his days sparring with the various members of their camp. Lae'zel gives him bruises, and Karlach burns without meaning to, and everything in between comes from day-in and day-out of the ritual of practice combat that Richie has honestly missed. It's a comforting routine, drilling through maneuvers, and both keeping skills sharp and aiding in honing what he can.

But he's got no goddamn clue what to do for a caster. With not even a cantrip to his name, Richie can't even pretend to understand the intricacies of magic in combat. He does, however, understand that it is not limitless. And with Moonrise looming on the horizon, that knowledge sits uncomfortably.

Gale feels... for lack of a better word, rather squishy.

"Are you sure I can't convince you to at least run through the basics?" Richie tries as the setting sun casts the sky in fiery gold and reds. He towels more river water out of his hair with his bunched up shirt. "I can be gentle, if that's any reassurance."
