hello beautiful people! alright so… i lied about not posting the other night. my bad!!! but i hope this makes up for it. i’ve been getting ready for school and i am so excited about this new transition. soon, i will make readings available for sale again. i also have an announcement to make regarding readings for sale soon as well! i hope you guys enjoy the reading! without further ado, please choose your pile!

pile one: mentally, you’re not prepared to be back in school. pile one, i’m not going to lie. it will take you a while to adjust to the new semester. this summer was definitely vacation time. you took the time off to just relax and do you, but it’s time to put in that work now. do you have your things together? are you registered? have you signed up for classes? if not, you need to do so! once you get the hang of this, i feel like the semester will fly by. i feel like some of you will get into arguments unfortunately. it could be over something small but don’t let it blow out of proportion. i heard “the future looks very promising”. you have to learn how to look on the bright side sometimes to avoid losing your mind. it’s best that you spend time learning a new language or skill. it’s also best that you get involved with the earth club if that’s something you’re interested. i thought of the everest college commercial lol (if you know, you know). don’t waste your time focusing on the small stuff. look at the bigger picture, pile one.

pile three: this pile is for my people who desire to be in the healthcare industry. i think that this semester will fly by. you have always been on top of your game when it comes to school. you knew that you would do well before you even clicked on this reading. however, i think you will be putting more of an effort to get yourself out there. the dating scene will be improving for you to get in. someone will ask you out on a date. it feels like you’ve been waiting for this to happen. do not let this turn of events distract you from what really matters which is your educational endeavors. this is very specific, but if there is someone you date that is well-connected, utilize their connections to your benefit. make sure that you can get something out of all of your contacts. don’t just let people take up space in your life. this is definitely for my college babes, maybe high school seniors too. just be open to fun and don’t carry shame for wanting to have fun! you deserve to have a life too!

pile four: you have a lot of stuff on the line, pile four. there will be so many things available to you that weren’t before & it would be a shame if you didn’t take advantage of that. however, you do not want to do anything that would take away from your drive, finances, goals or educational career as a whole. there are lots of temptations coming up for you this semester. some of you could just be entering undergrad, perhaps grad school too. you will have a lot more control of your life than you did before. but with great power comes great responsibilities. your energy is similar to pile three in the sense that fun is on the way. but you have the tendency to overdo it. if you’re sexually active, then you need to not engage in sex too much. if you drink, then do not engage in drinking too much. it will become a distraction, and then eventually a problem. distinguish who is supposed to be in your life and who isn’t. you have a bit of naïveté about you. lastly, if you are asked to do something that sounds like it would be risky to your academic career/your life in general, DO NOT DO IT! it is not worth the irreparable damage. bending your morals will not work in your favor.

Very gently you can hear the clinking of Rae dipping his quill in an ink pot on occasion

There are different sounds for writing vs sketching, with changes to the speed and pressure of the pen on paper

Likewise there are at least 2 different weights of paper when it comes to the page turning sound effect, meant to represent Rae turning the pages of his notebook vs turning the pages of the larger books he’s reading to take notes on

I went a bit bonkers on leboncoin (local mercari) yesterday:

One on hand, I'm so sick that I've deactivated my ebay sales and haven't listed a bunch of dolls.

On the other, 4 parcels to look forward to and that force me to go to the pick-up locker is the *point*. If it doesn't spark motivation then at least an attempt was made and most of the confirmed dolls were on the like-list... so they'll spark joy later.

The Cat Scan went well, they did an iodine contrast and it felt like peeing in the sea. I was trying so hard to not tremble during an anxiety and nausea wave that I wasn't aware of much else. The catheter made a mess of my arm coming out but was more unpleasant than painful despite the fragile area it was placed... then again my threshold of painful is pretty high right now.

Really pleased it wasn't an MRI, the cluh-clunk noise would have been hard to bear. My driver was a hard breaking type, I came close to throwing up. But also AC and tinted windows have changed the car experience so much. It used to be rough travelling in summer sun. It's night and day. literally.

I first went to amazon to get a treat but they haven't got anything i'd like in stock at non scalper prices. They'd have had my money if they'd import Bratz (Punk Sasha) and Monster High (Venus!), or keep the Rainbow Highs with one outfit and under $40; as for Barbie Basics, they're $45 😬.

The RH and BB are nicely designed but not "45$ nice" you know?

Of course I've ended up spending more lol but fixing dolls is part of the fun. The current project list is mostly small amounts of rerooting or repainting, I think I'd enjoy just cleaning and brushing, especially a that huge Rainbow Surprise head and Bratz with their thickly rooted saran and a fairly easy mika + gloss overpaint for scuffed lips.

• Quixis has a variety of sun/glasses, some normal, some funky. (They mainly wear the funky ones at the club)

• Kai challenged Centross to make a drink, improvise the recipe. He made a blue/green drink. He refuses to tell Kai what inspired him to make it, but he did say he called it Sea Breeze

• Icarus developed a very special, extra strong coffee for hangovers (kind of had to, since they're the closest shop to The World Port)

• Caspian was interested in Rae and Aax, but he learned that they were dating before learning they were poly, so he tried - and failed - to keep some distance and move on, thus Rae and Aax have to be the ones to make the first move

• Ulysses likes non sweetened coffee

• vs Athena and Jamie who prefer them really sweet

• Rae always gives Athena an extra marshmallow in her hot chocolate and Jamie extra honey in their tea

• Quixis has actually stepped into The Alchemists Brew and ordered, but how damn convenient that Icarus wasn't on at that point and it was during the hour their cameras were out for an update

• Quixis has piercings! 2 lobes, 1 and 2 on helix and lip (im debating adding the earring to lip chain pricing, but is that making them serve too much?/hj)

• Yes, the Sea Dragon plays sea shanties in amongst their playlist of songs. On a good night, the whole place is singing it

• Quixis and Centross can do those fancy moves/motions and tricks when making/pouring drinks. Centross is trying to teach Kai how to do them

• Rae can do some latte art. However if it's a special one (Birthday drawing, a new art, a flirty heart for a certain writer-) he gets a little shakey

• (we don't tip here so I'm not sure how to give tipping headcannons lol)

• Will has little jars of sand, dirt from places he's actually been. Some he keep at his place others are decor for the shop.

• In The Traveller, there's a large map with little notes of where certain tea and coffees are from

• Quixis calls Icarus "Sherbert" cause their mix match/split colour aesthetic reminds them of sherbert. It's started because they didn't know their name, but then it just stuck for them

• Athena, Rae and Jamie have matching little embroidered flowers on their aprons

• All of them managed to get custom pronoun pins ordered, so they all wear one

• Rae hums when lost in his work and Aax tries - and fails - to not stare

So I had some thoughts because why not (I didn’t edit this at all I just wrote it and I’m posting it so there’s probably some sort of grammar error and I apologize lol)

Icarus sleeps curled in on themselves.

They have since they were young. There are many reasons.

When they were little it was just the best position to be in. They could make a perfect cozy nest that wrapped around their curled up body. They could cover themself with their wings. It was the best position to cuddle with someone, they would have said. They would curl into their mothers side as she read to them, it was the perfect way in their opinion to get as close as possible to someone.

Soon it was something for comfort. They would curl in on themselves when they listened to their parents argue. They could curl up into small spaces, comforted by the four walls around them. They could cover themself with their wings, and hide behind them when need be.

When Rae came to them for comfort they would pull him into their side and hide/shield him with their wings and he would curl up against them as they weakly closed in on themself to provide as much comfort to the younger as possible.

When their mother was taken, they would sometimes just curl up in the corner of the lonely house. They would usually find themselves on the kitchen floor, curled in on themselves with their back against the counter and their wings wrapped tightly around them as they shook. As they desperately tried not to cry.

When Fable came and found them, they were able to curl up against another person again. They hadn’t done that with their brother for a long time, when he’d stopped coming to them for comfort. Stopped seeing them as a safe place. And they didn’t blame him, but it was nice to be able to have the contact of another person. Rae wasn’t like them, Rae would be fine sitting on the opposite end of the couch than others people. It could be the Avian in them, but Icarus always craved contact with others even if they couldn’t show it in the best ways possible.

In the first reset they learned of this habit of theirs early on, curling up in the nest of pillows and blankets they had called a bed, and finding themselves instinctually curling in on themselves while sitting anywhere. Occasionally they would climb to their roof to watch the stars, either sitting with their feet dangling off the edge and curled in on themselves enough that they leaned either to the side or forward, or waking up after accidentally falling asleep up there finding themselves curled up tightly. It was something safe.

In the end prison, they would find themself more often than not curled up in the corner of their cell when they weren’t pacing. They would get made fun of by Easton or Centross, telling them they were like a crab in that position, or simply that they had bad posture.

When the corruption started it was almost like protection. They could curl in on themselves while fighting to protect their weak points, or use it to help with trident precision.

In the obsidian cell, they would curl up in the corner of the cell. It didn’t feel safe anymore to be backed against two walls. Now it only felt claustrophobic and wrong. They would wrap their wings around themself as a comfort, but it didn’t bring much to them when their wings ached enough that they could barely move them anymore. They would end up compromising with themself, sitting with their back against the wall in the center of the cell so they weren’t cornered. They would try to stretch their wings out from there, and though it was better than trying to flutter around the cell their wings were still too stiff.

They couldn’t even make a semblance of a nest in that hole. They had been given some extra blankets and an extra pillow but it didn’t bring them the comfort it should have in that state.

When Momboo uncorrupted them you could see them curl in on themself, fingered clutching at their hair or wrapping tightly around their torso and wings wrapping tightly around them. They backed themselves into a corner, it was safe it was protected. They hugged themself tightly, and when Momboo left they sank to the floor. They pulled their knees to their chest and wrapped their wings around themself to give some semblance of being hidden. It was just like they would do when they were young, it was safe, it was fammiliar. Unlike the pounding in their skull and the prison they found themselves in. It was safe.

And when they got out maybe they couldn’t get close enough to people for contact again, but they were able to get their wings to full mobility even if they didn’t quite trust themselves to fly with them as much as they used to. It was nice.

If the first thing they did when they made a new area was make a small but cozy nest, only Rae would ever know that.

29. what do you do when you’re sad?

mope & sulk & wallow etc…listen 2 kys music…when i decide 2 try 2 stop being sad i’ll eat something yummy or hang out w my twin or watch a comfort movie etc…oftentimes when i am sad tho i find that it’s something i need 2 ride out & just let myself be sad for awhile!! hasn’t always been that way but thankfully that’s how it is now 🤧

34. any pet peeves?

many lol i am a horrid judgmental bitch who gets annoyed by so many things…although i guess i’m not sure where the line is between pet peeve vs just something i find annoying ummm. often get very irritated by messiness when it’s in my immediate space (have a friend who’s a messy eater & i get annoyed every time we get food together lol)…pet peeve when anyone describes themself or their partner as a “golden retriever”…ditto unironic use of the term “female rage” or out-of-context “male gaze”…when people try 2 talk 2 me while i’m wearing headphones…also if i’m playing music that i wanna listen to during a car ride & someone talks over it i get SO annoyed lmao.

40. any bad habits?

worst habit currently is setting my alarm an hour early & then snoozing it in 8 minute increments for that hour…horrible habit no idea why i do it i don’t get the extra hour of sleep i just keep waking up and drifting off and eventually drag myself out of bed feeling worse than i would if i just got up when my alarm went off or set it an hour later. trying 2 break this habit currently 😖😖

Bonus if you wanna write a fic/ramble: After the party you find out you're a Super whose powers are transformstions. All those partygoers are now really what you made their makeup/costumes for...

Talk Shop Tuesday (I'm still counting it lol)

Rae & Warren W: Honestly, I think they'd just be like "gimme the scariest thing you got", they're both pretty daring and adventurous people who are down for just about anything

Robin & Peter M: Frankenstein (it's frahnk-en-steen!) and the Creature from Young Frankenstein, Robin's favorite movie

Madison & Alex: They'd pay extra for all-night makeup service, they've got a plan. Both appear at the party looking completely normal, dressed in fairly plain clothes. Halfway through, they disappear - when they come back, Madison's a little scratched up, Alex has patches of fur and Wolfman claws, and both their clothes are torn. By the end of the party, they both disappear again, and later Madison is found on the floor of the kitchen, covered in blood and gruesome wounds with Bravo (her wolfdog) standing over her looking menacing.

Ophelia & Peter P: Oh, they don't need me. They both show up in intentionally-shitty costumes of the other's hero persona, having independently decided to try and fuck with each other in the exact same way.

Gia & Kate: Assuming Gia would even agree to going to a party in the first place... I could see them going as classic Goosebumps monsters. Gia's the humanoid plant from Stay Out of the Basement, Kate's a scarecrow from They're Alive! Alternatively, I could see them as a genderbent/WLW Seymour and Audrey from Little Shop of Horrors, with Gia's clover mixed in with her prop Twoey (ok ok, that's partially bc it gives Gia an excuse to have her clover with her and fend off a little of that anxiety... but mostly because Gia as a character is based on Seymour originally and I think it's playfully ironic)

Jasper & Kyle: Frank N' Furter and Rocky, of course! Kyle brings a robe since it would get a little uncomfortable to just wear the Speedo the whole time, but he does wear it.... the things people do for love, lol

Kestrel & Warren B: Warren's the only one who needs a costume, Kestrel will just shift into what fits with the theme. And honestly, with that freedom, it could be just about anything. Probably something Indiana Jones-themed, since they're Warren's favorite movies.

Katherine & Ahk: Honestly, Kat would probably just revisit her Bastet costume from that first Halloween party and clean it up a little, and Ahk would wear what he normally wears.

Quinn & Billy: I can't imagine Quinn would want particularly heavy makeup, since she would have to have to deal with removing it all after the party (when she's already tired and in pain from being on her feet). Maybe Morticia and Gomez Addams? That would be fun, and if Quinn wears her platforms she can really make the height difference pop (she's 6'3" without heels, Billy is 5'11"). And of course, Billy's so undeniably smitten he doesn't even need to act the part of Gomez.

Eris & Rick: Hm... tough question. On the one hand, I could see Eris getting really into it, spending weeks putting together the perfect costume only for it to be some historical figure that nobody besides them even really remembers. On the other hand, I could see them being pretty open about it, and willing to follow Rick's lead with whatever costume he decides on - as one of Eris' little hidden gestures of how much they care about him. Sorry this one's a non-answer, I just can't really think of something specific for them.

Nikoletta & Abner: Honestly, I don't know that they're the type for costumes. Neither of them really grew up in an environment where they celebrated Halloween much (save perhaps for Nikoletta being exposed to all the tourists flocking to New Orleans for the holiday), so there's not really nostalgia in dressing up, and they wouldn't be motivated to spend their hard-earned and limited money on costumes or makeup. I could see them agreeing to a group costume (probably at Harley's insistance), but they wouldn't come up with anything on their own.

Jimmy & Lars: Honestly, it would be fun enough just to play up the whole Ghostbusters thing. They're something of local celebrities, but with Lars being more of a behind-the-scenes guy and Jimmy being... well, a ghost that doesn't look like a ghost, everyone just thinks it's a damn good costume until they demonstrate the reality of it. If Lars can get his idea for a painless proton stream worked out in time, he'll make a spectacular show of "catching" Jimmy. If he can't, he'll just make a spectacular show of missing.

Spider (pre-apocalypse, attends alone): Would show up with a detailed sketch of a monster of his own devising, something super creative and super creepy. Hell, he's probably got four-leg stilts and an articulated costume tail of his own, just to add to the effect - he's a film guy, he takes Halloween seriously!

Why I hate MMFD Series 3, Circa 2015.

Ok, like I said, i randomly found this in my phone. It is extra, it is wild, it all holds up lol. It’s embarrassing, but who cares? S3 was embarrassing. It’s VERY long. Laugh, cry, mock me, fight me, enjoy yourselves. I’ll never get over it.

1. The whole series has a bleak feeling almost immediately that doesn’t let up. I don’t just mean plot, I mean color palette and vibes. It has this washed out feeling I hate.

2. I don’t side with Rae on her interview. I don’t. She didn’t take it seriously.

3. Rae wants to go to uni because..? Rae chose Bristol because..? Rae has no backup schools because..?

4. Rae says she’s happy. Cool. Why? What’s been happening? How’s treatment been going? The most elementary rule of storytelling: show, don’t tell. I feel like we got told for 2 hours, with no fill-in of the gap.

5. The end of season 2 felt like the jumping off of the beginning of something: Chloe healing emotionally, the relationship with Rae and her mom, Rae and Finn, attempts at taking therapy seriously. We spend the next 2 hours digging into NONE of these things. I’m not dumb, I know time was limited. But we needed more exposition, flashbacks, more SOMETHING. Why should I believe things are going well, especially when they’re about to collapse.

6. Flashbacks (this blows my mind): Rae shows us what we think are flashbacks talking about her happiness. They’re not-they’re flash forwards. And all of them are after Rae starts being dishonest and backsliding. That has always upset me as a viewer. We NEVER see Rae progress in this series in retrospect.

7. Why are Rae and Finn hiding major life decisions from each other?

8. Chloe’s doing well! Cool! Again, how and why?

9. Look, I was young with a boyfriend once too. I get there’s limited time between school, work, and family, and you want to spend the time you have taking off each other’s clothes at that age. But there’s no emotional intimacy here and it spits in the face of earlier seasons.

10. “I love you.” Enough said. But fine. Let’s take it at face value. Why are they not expressing themselves ? Are they happy, are they unsure around each other, are they coasting on lust? We don’t know, bc bad storytelling.

11. We’re right back to “let’s only discuss my boyfriend in terms of his looks.” Bo-ring, no growth, and not to get too explicit, but you don’t have repeated, committed sex, and not get past some of this. Embarrassing things happen, funny things, you open up emotionally and get real with yourself and each other. You’re telling me these two never made weird noises or weird faces or sweated horrifically all over each other?

12. I’ve always seen Linda as someone who cares for Rae, worries, and is observant, but often doesn’t do the best thing because of her own issues. She is out to lunch most of the series and I hated it.

13. The car crash. I hate it for so many reasons. It sucked up the plot time we needed not to make the whole series feel disjointed. It was too dramatic for me. One of the things I always loved about MMFD was it felt like a relatable show that featured teens, not necessarily a teen show. This was a teen soap stunt.

14. Rae is ostensibly happy when she gets her acceptance. Why does she immediately discard the idea? Why no inner dialogue about her actual desires?

15. KESTER. We’ve said it all. Kester telling her what to do instead of working through her feelings? Irresponsible. Lying? Irresponsible. Not properly transitioning out of therapy? Irresponsible? The mental health messages were disgusting overall. Add another therapist COVERING and letting her dump her meds was even worse. Kester’s choices were all about covering his own ass, and he’s ultimately pathetic.

16. The Gang. Just so much why? Why are Izzy and Chop forced into being stupid? Why does no one give a shit about Finn? Why is everyone grappling with major life changes but only Chloe and Rae have to bear any drama. Why is Archie not in uni? Why does everyone clearly know Rae is suffering and doesn’t even try to help; more importantly they mock her? That last piece makes me legit angry.

17. I like Rae and Chloe’s friendship growth. That it came at the expense of Rae’s guilt, fear, and shame is just disappointing.

18. Finn looks..tired, even before the Katie business. He looks overwhelmed and unsure and scared, and like he’s spent two years biting his tongue. I don’t doubt for a second he loves her, but is it healthy? It didn’t look healthy, and again, why? You’re getting paid to TELL ME A STORY.

19. Rae never uses anything she learned in therapy all series.

20. No one but Rae gets a real storyline and that stinks.

21. Katie. Faye Marsay is better than this. Lost more plot time for a teenage Single White Female retread.

22. The cheating. Out of character, we never get clear resolution on what happened, and most importantly to me, it’s the main reason for a breakup that has so many other tells simmering in the background, imo. That Rae is condescending, doesn’t own up to her parts, is just. Yeah. Why should I believe this person is ok? PS-We know he bought her that “you’re the milk to my cookies” shirt, it only makes sense. Ma’am you did not act like it.

23. Katie’s entire voodoo speech burns me up because we never get confirmation Rae doesn’t internalize and/or reject this. I actually think a conversation about the ripple effect of mental health is so important, and deserved better than whatever the hell this was.

24. Rae’s whole A-level experience. She gets saved and coddled so she can go somewhere they won’t play that game with her. How does this help her or show she’s ready?

25. No chippy. Fine, whatever, but I miss it lol.

26. Everyone perving on Finn, come on, this was cringe.

27. The look Chloe gives Finn at the pub. I don’t understand it, but I don’t like it.

28. No Baby Bouchtat time, wtfffff.

29. Rae never comes to a realization we hear about why she wants uni. She gets her back against the wall because her mom has to leave and everything else is falling apart. Great.

30. Speaking of, why is Linda still at home 2(?) months after she said she wanted to leave, halfway through her husband’s contract? I thought it was so damn important.

31. Rae’s dad..more plot time wasted. I honestly barely remember this. PS-hey Rae, I bet Finn Nelson would’ve heavily related if you said your shitty dad popped back up and you were struggling.

32. It seems like Rae cuts everybody out after the ball. This is not real life. You lose touch, people fade away, sure. Over months and years, not by cutting bonds off at the knees.

33. Town only being the background to Archie’s plot was such a waste.

34. That tub scene was sickening and irresponsible as fuck. Every other mental health episode in other seasons had inner dialogue to help the audience. That they played it as straight and left the audience dangling that long was reprehensible.

35. Everyone on this show got to develop an outside life we knew about away from Rae except Finn and he deserved more.

36. The going it alone message is terrible. You always need support and love from people around you.

37. Petty, but that dress did Sharon no favors, please dress our queen properly.

38. The last song being Creep is so lyrically bleak and sums up this entire dumpster fire.

39. “The bullshit goes with me?” GOODBYE. Please.

40. The train scene: kind of nice! Reminiscing! Tix! But also weird. Why do Kester and Chloe look so serious? Why does Finn only look like he wants to fuck her? Why is Liam even there? Whatever.
